OH I forgot to tell you, mix the cool whip and pudding together. it makes the pudding reallly light and creamy.

The hardest part isn't falling but getting up again and trying again.

Maya's is complicated ... I am for easy and quick fixes when I can (unlike the truffles I spent 6 hours making today!)

Happy Holidays,
and thanks again,
Janet

I think hers is the old fashion recipe that calls for cooking the "real" pudding on the stove. Too much work for me, I'm busy so I need something quick, that taste just as good.

Vanilla Wafers, one pack on Banana instant pudding, have a regular container of cool whip and ripe bananas. Layer cookies, 3-4 bananas, pudding and cookies again. repeat if you have extra. I normally using a casserole dish but you can use a trifle is you wish. Quick and Yummy. BTW it taste better the next day.

.........oooh! I want that banana pudding recipe!

For Christmas, we Canadians usually have turkey for the meal as our Thanksgiving is the second Monday in October.

I am planning on eating the "sides" that will be served ... butternut squash, salad, and peas making my famous "potato puff with crab" that I have shared on SparkRecipes

In our family we often do international themes for Thanksgiving -- I'm not sure why; our holiday just evolved that way! So we had Indian/Thai food. My sister made Thai shrimp curry with rice; I made vegetable pakoras (thin-sliced veggies dipped in Indian-seasoned chickpea-flour batter and deep-fried -- yum!! But very caloric, and the fat was transfat because I used my sister's fryer and you can only use shortening in it). My sister brought Indian flatbread.

Dessert was not low-calorie, either -- blackberry/pear pie (my sister made it from blackberries I grew during the summer, then froze the pie), with vanilla ice cream.

Part of me wants so badly to get back on a healthy eating plan; the other part is saying, "Full speed ahead with the sweets and fatty foods!" I'm having a lot of trouble controlling that rebellious little brat in there.

Aargh.

I had turkey, roasted veggies, steamed green beans, yams, stuffing, pumpkin cheesecake. I ate the flexitarian diet for Thanksgiving. My in laws don't believe in Vegetarianism or Pescatarianism. I'm one that has to adapt, so I can keep peace in the family.
