In our family we often do international themes for Thanksgiving -- I'm not sure why; our holiday just evolved that way! So we had Indian/Thai food. My sister made Thai shrimp curry with rice; I made vegetable pakoras (thin-sliced veggies dipped in Indian-seasoned chickpea-flour batter and deep-fried -- yum!! But very caloric, and the fat was transfat because I used my sister's fryer and you can only use shortening in it). My sister brought Indian flatbread.
Dessert was not low-calorie, either -- blackberry/pear pie (my sister made it from blackberries I grew during the summer, then froze the pie), with vanilla ice cream.
Part of me wants so badly to get back on a healthy eating plan; the other part is saying, "Full speed ahead with the sweets and fatty foods!" I'm having a lot of trouble controlling that rebellious little brat in there.
