Sometimes I walk to and from work which is about 3 miles, 3 times a week after work I meet with my coworkers to run/walk for 30 minutes to practice for a 5k emoticon

I thank Creator for the ways of creation.
For eyes to see the beauty of creation.
For ears to hear the sounds of creation.
For the heart to understand the ways of Creator
For hands to touch
For words to teach little ones the ways of Creator
I pray for love for all our relations.

I get off at 12:30 am.... I hit the gym after I get off work and on my weekends I do some sort of exercise usually away from the gym Hiking or skating, warmer weather I'll be running outside.... I usually do 45 to 60 min of cardio either Elliptical or Running on the Treadmill then doing strength training for 30 to 40 min... I'm ususally home by 3:00 am

You've got to say, I think that if I keep working at this and want it badly enough I can have it. It's called perseverance.

I try to walk every night after work - soon after I get home which is about 5PM for 30 to 45 minutes. If it is raining, I also have a spin bike in my basement and then I do some fast biking or I go to the shopping center on my way home, change my shoes and walk for 30 minutes or so. Its difficult to do something every day but its what has been helping me to lose a few pounds these last few months.

I finally took time to watch the video at work so I can use their fitness center. Id been planning on doing this for about 6 months. It cost only $20 for a life time "membership". I'm counting today as the first day of my personal after work challenge.

1st goal 255# MET 2/20/12 (Update: Met this goal but now have gained the weight back so it is now a goal once again)
2nd goal 205#
3rd goal 155#

I drive a truck for a living. Long hours in the truck can wear you out. I've learned that when i get home i immediatelly exercise. If i wait an hour i get sleepy and the next thing i know its 1:00 am and i'm depressed because i missed a workout. If i workoout right away i discover energy i didn't think i had!!!!

I think that this is just the right team for me. I work from 6am to 5:30pm three days a week and until 1:30pm on the fourth day. We ( my job ) recently moved into a building that has a free gym and I no longer have any excuse to miss working out - all I have to do is change and ride the elevator down! I have a copy of the treadmill workout copied to take with me as inspiration. emoticon I am soo excited!!!! I start monday.

I work Monday to Friday 8-5pm, then meet with my sister for our after work workout. We both travel too far to work before work, so this challenge is perfect!
It's hard to always make the time after work, but that's just the tricky part about exercise. You have to make the time. For some reason we tend to listen to the excuses about why we shouldn't workout more often than the reasons why we should.
So almost every day, we are out on the seawall by 6pm going for a run. I've even set up a workout area in my study for when my brain needs a break.

Good luck everyone!

hi everyone:
My work schedule is a tough one so I am trying to make this work. I leave home @ 05:30 & get home @ 6:00 PM. Just getting back into this after a back injury and long recovery. I have a home gym but it is entirely up to me to use it.

I am a night shifter and joined Curves about a year ago...we have an early bird circuit...I get off work at 5am and early birds start at 5:30...it's not too far from work or home..so I just stop there after work and feel so much better since I started this..

Back when I was a member of a gym by my job, I got a few of my coworkers to join too. Knowing that I would be letting someone else down if I didn't come to work prepared to workout afterward helped a lot. Soon our shifts all changed, and it was just me going after work. When this happened I spent the last two hours of my shift psyching myself up for the gym. Hope this helps emoticon

Thank you for the positive, practical suggestions on working out after work. I'm going to make up my "gym bags" now!

Hi all!

I'm new to the team and really need to get to the gym after work, especially since we have a gym where we live. Its so much easier to work out right away. I just feel so brain dead at the end of the day, I'm not making it happen. Any suggestions?

Hi all! I am new to the team and have been working out after work since I joined the Y in February. I mix it up a bit doing a deep water fitness class 2 days a week, strength training 4 days a week and working with a personal trainer 1 day a week. I love working out after work! It is a great way to get rid of frustration from the day!

I'm starting fresh, again. Although I feel like I'm starting at the beginning, I know that if I don't get back into taking care of myself now I'll end up even farther away from my goals. I work until 11:30 at night, so I'm going to give this a go since my mornings tend to be filled with school/homework and sleeping ;p

I prefer to go after work. One of the pluses at the gym I go they offer free tanning and hydromassages. So after working out I can treat myself.

A topic near and dear to my heart! I keep at least 4 soccer bags in the car, each with workout clothes, socks and a towel, then keep extra gym shoes with them. There is no excuse for not going to the gym directly after work. I eat some protein and a few extra carbs on my last break, and I always have my water bottle with me, so I'm ready to go. I never have an excuse not to--except.... sigh, when I am so mentally tired it's painful to even think about going to the gym. I have to just point the car there and go! Once I am there, I am committed to at least do some cardio. Usually I feel better after I do, no matter how mentally squashed I felt when I got there. I also sleep soooo much better!!

No problem :)
One more tip that I really like: I'm kind of a freak about scheduling things. I put everything, both work meetings and personal events/dinners/birthdays/etc in my calendar. I also schedule workouts. If I know ahead of time that I've got an event or something after work one night that would conflict with a normal workout schedule, then I make sure to move the workout to a different day so that I don't miss it just because of the conflict. Also, having it on the calendar makes it seem less optional--I just look at it as a part of my schedule.

I took it to the extreme and put together a workout plan that I put on the calendar (mondays is hot yoga, Tuesdays/Thursdays are run days, Saturday I do something outdoors, etc) and that way I also know what to anticipate and can schedule different activities so I don't get bored with the same ol' routine. You can look up different classes your gym may offer and plug them into the calendar as well.

Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestions. I think I'll try a combination of both. If I go str8 to the gym from work then I'll have no choice but to workout. Also I have dvds so I could stay home and rest a bit before I work out on the days I feel extra tired or unable to make it to the gym. Either way I have 15 lbs to lose and I need to make that a priority. Thanks again guys you've been a lot of help :)

I have a nice library of exercise videos that I use. I go home from work at 5:00 and eat supper as soon as I get home, have time to sit down and rest, watch the news etc until 7:00 then I plug in a DVD and sweat it out for an hour or so. I tried a gym membership but just couldn't keep motivated to do it every night. Collage Video has some awesome choices and I can mix it up every night - weights one night, step one night, kickboxing and dance on other nights. I have lost 30 pounds over the past year and I can see myself keeping the weight off by making smart food choices and rotating the videos regularly. I finally found a formula that works for me - hurray!!!

Hi There, Have you tried packing your clothes and going straight to the gym after work? That's what I do and it's much easier for me. I belong a gym right by my office and what I love about working out after work is that I beat the traffic of rush hour! I go straight to the gym and by the time I'm done, it's smooth sailing all the way home.

Hey everyone, I just started the gym again,. I've been going for a couple wks now. I go after work which ends @ 5pm, so I get there @ 6:30 pm. I try to go at least 3 times/wk. When I finish working I usually feel drained and when I get home to change for the gym I just don't feel like going. Is there anything I can do to feel more motivated to go?

I get out around 5, but not home until 6. We always have people stopping over, so I'm going to have to be very good about not having a drink with them and just visit and then workout after they leave. Should exercise in AM, but with getting up at 5 already, not in the mood to get up at 4 to workout. I think it would be hard to work out after 10 PM - - what's your plan? You look like you've done great on your weight loss - I'm just starting mine again.

What time would this be for you? I know a lot of people get off work from 4pm-6pm. I get off around 10pm.
