We did some work on the automated system and it has spewed anything back, so maybe (fingers crossed) we've got it fixed. Cool today. Reminds me of late September weather. I am not complaining. Just wonder what it will be like when school starts. I am sure that it will be hotter than heck and humidity will be horrendous.

Off to Sioux Falls tomorrow morning (have to be on the road by 7 am). Three days working on the behavior plan for the district. Oh joy.

Kerry, I agree with Kim that your situation could bring out either the very best or the very worst. Distancing yourself from the worst is about all you can do. Good luck with the interviews later this week, and congratulations on your weight loss.

Kim, enjoy your vacation.

Janine, enjoy your last week of summer programming.

Barb, I hope your headache is better. Good luck with the transcript stuff.

I may have discovered some bad news this morning. I went into my classroom this morning to drop of the bottled water and "bribery" material (read Gatorade and candy bars). After taking a quick look around, I did not see any of the school supplies I had ordered. They were delivered to my classroom before this time last year, so I'm beginning to think that my registrar didn't order it, like she didn't do so many other things. I'm going to look at my copy of the list and hope I can live without...

For now, I'm off to tae kwon do.

Hope your headache is better Barb!
Congrats on getting your 10,000 steps in before noon, Janine!
Kim I hope you arrived safely at your vacation spot! Enjoy your time!
Heather sounds like you are a very busy mom! So don't sweat the small stuff that you don't get done before school starts.
I am feeling much better today. I got some much needed sleep. I weighed in this morning for the week. I had lost 3.4 pounds. So that brings my total to 26 so far since May 3rd. I did an hour workout. Talk to my husband's niece and she reassured me that I did nothing wrong with the benefit. We as a family were lied to from the get go. So I am just going to put it behind me and move on. I have come up with my list of questions for the interviews on Friday. Just waiting on approval from my new principal. I also made some phone calls today and took care of some business. I have to go to the breast specialist on Wednesday for a check up. They found a spot on my mammogram last year. So they have been keeping an eye on it. They think it is just a calcium deposit. So I am going to ask the doctor on Wednesday if there is anything I need to about it or what. Then after that I think my sister and I are going to go out to eat. She wants to go to the Cheesecake Factory. I need to check their menu and see if they have lighter portions on it. Since I have come so far, I don't want to blow in one day. Well I am waiting on a phone call from my health coach. I have one through my insurance company at school. I think it has been helping me so far. The incentitve is a $75 gift card when I complete it! I hope you all have a great start to the brand new week!

Barb...sorry you are dealing with a headache and a headache. Hopefully the new system will get better for you soon.

It's been a busy day for me so far. I got my 10,000 steps before 11:30! This is a new record for me. Hopefully the gym will feel good later and I will keep this momentum going.

Horrible headache woke me at 4 am this morning. Took something and went back to bed. Took awhile to drop back to sleep. Into work this morning to clean up problems with student schedules and transcripts. We have been directed to go to the state (automated) system and it doesn't let us do things the way we have in the past. Imagine that.

The storms continued throughout the night and into this morning. In fact, thunder woke me early this morning. I tried to go back to sleep, but eventually just got up.

Book for work: Explicit Instruction by Anita Archer. Excellent book. I still want to read Visible Learning and Mindsets in the Classroom. Probably won't get done before school starts.
We'll get to.our destination tomorrow. Weather here is in the low 80s. Gorgeous for riding motorcycle. I made great food choices today!

Hi ladies,
The benefit was okay. I got my feelings hurt. Since my nephew's wife was not truthful with me all along. Caught in her a big lie. She thanked everyone for helping but me. I was the one who got some of the donations, donated three candles and my family came and brought gift baskets for the auction. So I have decided to distance myself from my nephew and his wife. But at least I found out who my husband's true family and friends are. I have had a rough day today. I did a lot of crying. But I did workout for an hour and go spend time with two of my closet friends. Plus my family kept in touch with me a lot more today than usual. I think they knew I was hurting bad today. If I can just make it through Wednesday which will be his birthday. I should be fine until the holidays. Thanks for being there for me too!
Kim I am glad that you are packed and ready for vacation. Have a safe trip!
Heather, Barb and Janine it has been storming in Ohio too. Just off and on since last night. Glad no major weather has been reported yet. Just lots of rain, wind, thunder and lighting.
I will check back in with you all tomorrow sometime.

We had some storms one night last week, but our rain has significantly dropped off from June when it was raining six out of seven days for a few weeks.

I am very close to having almost all of my essential projects for school done, but I have been totally unmotivated to work on them the last several days. I always have the intent to do so, then never do. Wish I could get my head screwed on straight...

Had an inch and a half of rain in the thunderstorm yesterday. We were lucky, as people north of us got damaging hail. Today it's beautiful, so Bella and I will go for a walk after lunch.

Just got back from our friend's house. They're going on the trip with us. I'm hitting the hay so we can leave at 8:00 tomorrow. I was hoping to see my son tomorrow night but he's an hour and a half away so I'll have to wait until he's home in about a month. He's on the wheat harvest. I'll check in when I can this week, but I'm not great on the phone!

Kim, what kind of rower did you get? Hooray for the last day of summer school!! Enjoy your vacation!

Kerry, itís great that you are being asked to sit in on the interviews. You will be able to meet all of the candidates and have a say in which one will be the best addition to your classroom. Sounds like SDD needs some counseling. I hope she gets it. Iím glad her mother is in agreement with you. I hope the benefit went well for you and your family.

Barb, I hope the behavior plan you create will be of benefit to your school district rather than just being paperwork the state wants.

To clarify, the interim principal if for my sonsí elementary school. It will still be nice to see him again, though.

So far, Iíve had a very lazy Saturday. I did do the grocery shopping, but havenít touched the usual laundry pile that Iím constantly battling. Guess I should get on it. I also have one more answer key to do for school, then get them all organized the way I want them and with ease for my associates. HmmmÖ Should probably get on that, tooÖ

Cleaning the house because on of the couples going on vacation is staying here tonight. Otherwise they'd have a 2 hr. drive just to get here tomorrow. We're going to dinner with the other couple. After cleaning I'll finish packing then may read some for school. I'm trying to get a book finished up.

Kerry....enjoy your dinner tonight! I never had sisters and my mom passed 7 years ago. I try to do that with my daughter sometimes, but her busy schedule doesn't always work with mine. That's one of the reasons why I like to do things with the little ones.

Off to run errands, then to get another tattoo. It is a fundraiser for Dana Farber. My brother was a patient there for years and I volunteer for them once a year. I like giving back to them for all they gave Jan.

Sounds like everyone had a great day on Friday!
It is always nice to spend time with my great nieces and nephews! So I know that you enjoyed yourself too Janine. But boy do they tire you out at times, especially with all their energy. lol
Kim I hope that you are close to being packed for vacation! Enjoy yourself!
Barb isn't it nice to start the weekend without a lot of things to do?
I have the house all cleaned. Now just waiting on my family to get here. My sister was suppose to be here a half hour ago. I am getting a little nervous wondering where she is. We have to run some errands before going to the benefit. I have a couple donations that I need to drop off so they can set them up. Then go run a few errands.
My sdd seemed nice yesterday when she was here. But she didn't bring up the subject of moving in and neither did I. Just want to get through today. Then my mom, sisters and I are going out for a nice dinner this evening.
Well I better close for now. Chat with you all later. Have a great weekend!

I had a nice day with my great niece and nephew. We went to see a play based on a children's book, Skippy Jon Jones. It was cute. We went to the mall after and had lunch. It was nice. I am pretty tired though. I will feed the dinner and then bring them back home. It has been a long week and I am tired. Maybe I will get to sleep early tonight.

Kerry, I hope the benefit goes well. It sounds like your sdd could use some counseling to cope with the loss of her dad as well as other issues. You sure don't need that right now. I hope she doesn't get angry with you when you tell her but at least your family will be there to help support you.
I'm getting a new EA too and would have loved to sit in on interviews since I'm the one working with her. I didn't get to so I hope they got someone good.
Better get going on errands and then start packing.

Hi Ladies,
Sounds like everyone has been very busy the last couple of days. I know I have been. My mom and two sisters are coming for a visit on Saturday for my dh's benefit. So I felt I had to clean house. Some of the stuff was still out from the day when dh passed away. So it has been a healing process putting the house back to order somewhat. Haven't gotten to talk to sdd face to face yet. But hope to before the benefit tomorrow. I did talk to her mom on the phone last night. We are both in agreement that it won't work out. Plus she needs to talk to a counselor about her anger issues right now. You can be talking to her real calm and nice and then she flies off the handle and starts yelling at you. I know a lot of it is the sudden loss of her dad. But I don't want to see her make mistakes that she can't fix in her life right now.
I was shocked last night to open my school email and see a message from my new principal. He is inviting me to sit in on the interviews for my aide's position next Friday. I am looking forward to the process. I hope I can come up with some great questions to ask before than. lol
Heather sorry to hear about your battery troubles. That always seems to be the way it happens when you have two cars. That you left something important in the other car. Glad you made all your deadlines. It is nice to work with people you know, even if it is for an interim basis.
Kim sounds like you are going to be busy today getting ready for vacation. Hope you have safe travels! Enjoy your vacation.
Barb yes it is always nice when the school district pays for your hotel room. I hope your time away is productive and you learn something that will benefit your students in your district.
Janine, thank you for your explaination of your summer program. I think that is what a lot of our students need in our district. But it will never happen. Enjoy your time off before you start back to school.
Well ladies, I better get busy. I still have three rooms to clean in my house. Plus make some phone calls today. So I better close for now. Chat with you all later. Have a great Friday!

Sorry that you had car problems. That's always the pits. Just got back from a bike ride. The humidity has come down, and a breeze has come up so it was good biking weather. Have to go into school on Monday then Wednesday through Friday we are in Sioux Falls to develop a school wide behavior plan for our district. At least they are paying for the hotel rooms and not making us drive.

Too bad about the car hassle Heather, but very cool you'll have an interim principal you know and like.
Summer school is done! One of my friends was talking about only doing it for 3 weeks next summer and splitting it with someone else. I'm thinking that might not be a bad idea. I only have 2 weeks off before school starts and one of those weeks is vacation. I don't feel like I've had a break.
I have to do some running around tomorrow and start getting things around to pack. We leave for SD on Sunday and return the following Sunday. I'm hopeful my daughter doesn't go into labor or we'll cut the trip short and head back home.
I tried out the new rower last night and really liked it. No pool walking tonight. Rain moved in.

Today has been a day of running and problems for me. The problems started last night when Hubby's car had a dead battery. He took my van to work, so I had to deal with his dead battery this morning before swimming lessons. As I was calling for a jump, I realized all the swimming bags were in my van, so that tightened up our timeline. We made it, but the battery showed it had a bad cell when it was dead again after swimming lessons. More waiting, for a jump and the new battery, then just enough time to get fast food for lunch before N's appointment to be followed by school registration. Now it's time for a breath before heading to tae kwon do. Whew, I'm tired!!

At registration, I found out that my former 4th grade reading teacher turned principal has been pulled out of retirement to act as interim principal. Love it!!

I'm going to wish I had spent more time on school stuff too. I guess I'll just try to sort and work on things as I unpack and get moved into my new room. When we get back from vacation I'll work on it some more then unless of course that grandbaby comes. Then I'll be holding him!
I can't get into my room ahead of time so it forces me not to be at school.

Kerry, I hope the benefit goes well. Good luck in dealing with SDD. Sounds like she is burning her bridges in her efforts to get her needs meet.

Kim, I hope youíve gotten your lazy susan done. Enjoy your vacation and last day of summer school.

So, obviously Iíve missed a few days. I have no fun reason, or any reason really. The new posting notice just got lost in my inboxÖ Sadly, I havenít been making much progress on my school projects recently. I do need to get them done soon, though. Next week I will be spending some time in my classroom while my oldest is at day camp. Peanut will be starting kindergarten this year, and he has morning jumpstart three or four days next week, as well. Perfect time to spend a few hours in my room getting some things ready. I do wish Iíd spent more time working on my English lesson plans, though. I guess it is a matter of prioritiesÖ

That's partly why we got a set curriculum this year. We all have to teach the same things. Attendance is still a problem, even with breakfast and lunch, plus a free afternoon "camp" style program and bussing both ways. I'm not sure what else we could do. Tomorrow is the last day. Yay!

Kerry...for our kids summer program is supposed to reduce regression. It doesn't really. We put them at different schools for different hours with different staff doing different things. Attendance can be inconsistent. It really just becomes getting them used to following a routine, even if it is different.

If you focus on results, you will never change. If you focus on change, you will get results.

It doesn't sound like you need her moving in. My feeling is you won't be able to get her out if you do. Good luck breaking the news!

Yes it sure is hot out there! I plan on staying in where it is cool. Did go out to lunch with some friends today. But just walking from house to car and car to restaurant was sweaty work. Lol
Hope your stepdaughter's birthday went well, Kim!
Barb that would be a long hot ride. Glad you are enjoying a nice cool house.
Janine hope the rain cuts some of the humid for you. It is nice that your school offers programs in the summer. I wish my school did for our special ed. Students. It would give them an extra boost to keep up their skills they have learned so far.
Heather how is getting your school stuff done going for you? Hope you have gotten a lot accomplished.
I have the bed sheets washed and dried for my family's visit this weekend. I hope to get the house cleaned before Friday. I did get my candle samples and business cards in the mail yesterday for my Jewelry In Candles business. I hope this will help me pay my bills now that my hubby is gone. My sdd wants to move in with me. I love her dearly, but I don't think it would work out. Especially since she is fighting with her mom and stepdad right now. She has treated me poorly in the past. Two months ago, she didn't even wish me Happy Mother's Day or a Happy Birthday. Need to break the news to her gentlely. She has no curfew at home, comes and goes as she pleases. She is drinking and only 18. Just lays around and does no chores. Feels because she works at McDonalds as a manager, she doesn't need to do anything around the house. My reply is going to be I have went through a major life change at school and at home.I lost my principal and aide and my hubby all with in a months time.

110 heat index here today. Our kids had recess in the gym today. It's super humid. 80s the next several days once we make it through today. Walking at the pool tonight.

We're expecting the 3 H's today. I plan to have the classrooms stay inside because of it. Many of the kids have seizure disorders that are brought on by the heat. I hear rain for tomorrow. Maybe that will break the high temperatures for us.

Same here Barb. Should reach 100 by later today.
3 more days of summer school which means only 2 weeks of summer left after that, but a grandson will be here somewhere around there!

Stay cool. We have heat advisories today. Didn't take Bell out for the walk. May do that after the sun goes down today.

Back to work for the summer program today. I cannot believe I have just this week and next week left! Then two weeks off, which of course will give me time to get into my classroom and get ready.

Back from a weekend in the Black Hills. All was good except that the air conditioning in the car went to heck and we had to drive across country with it being in the mid nineties and no air. Good to be back home, as my son dog sat for us this weekend and had the house nice and cool when we arrived home.

Heather, you're getting more done than I am. I have a couple of things to do on the lazy susan I'm making for someone and that's done. I want it delivered by the end of the week before we go on vacation. I have 2 more to do but those may not get going until after school starts.
Good luck with the benefit for your DH. If you need a day to do nothing there's nothing wrong with that!
I practiced riding my motorcycle more this afternoon. It was hot. Thank goodness there was a breeze. I'm not sure I'll get out on the road this year. I feel like I still need more practice before I'm ready for that.
It's my step daughter's bday and she refused to come over unless the bf could come along. I'm guessing he's pretty nervous. She thinks if we meet him we won't have concerns any more. That's not going to make a difference. If she were a little older and more mature I might feel differently.
Pool walking later!

Hi everyone,
Sorry I went mia for a week or so. My friends and family have kept me busy. We are working on a benefit for my dh's funeral expenses. It is this coming Saturday. So I was busy getting some donations and temping my sdd sell t-shirts for the benefit. Then my friends took me shopping two days last week.
I have been also busy pleading my case for the one lady to be hired as my aide. I guess there was nine people who put in for the job. So I am hoping none of them were in the non-cerified staff union. Plus getting things ready for school to start.
Kim I hope things work out fine with your sdd and her love life. I was six years younger than my dh. It was the perfect fit since I met him in my late 20's.
Heather hope you get your laundry folded. I know what a chore that can be. You are lucky to have tax free weekend for school shopping. We don't have that here in Ohio.
Barb that had to be scary. Glad you got out safe.I know I hate being at school late and with no one else in the building.
Well I guess I need to start getting ready to go to my friends for a cookout. I have just been a little lazy today. My dh passed away one month ago today. So I just haven't felt like doing much. Still need to gather up trash and get ready for pick up tomorrow morning. Take a shower and go to the store to pick something up for the cookout.
Talk to you all later.

I've just finished the last of the weekend chores except the dreaded laundry folding. Guess that will be my next thing after some Sparking. I continue making progress on my answer keys and have done a little more shopping on the school supply list for the boys. I was disappointed to learn that the tax free weekend coming up in two weeks only applies to clothes and shoes. It used to also apply to school supplies. :(

Same here. I hadn't thought of a lot of the things that were brought up though. They're slow to change anything in my district so I'd be shocked if anything happened before I retire.
The heat and humidity moves back in today!

Interesting take on the four days a week. Our preschool teachers use that day for all day trainings and meetings.

Kim, good luck on your possible purchase. I tried a small rower from Amazon, but it didn't last more than a week before one of the foot pedals broke. I returned it. I'm still looking at them, though.

My evening was about 50% successful. I was able to get to the gym, but our usual Friday Family Swimming was cancelled due to Mouse pooping in his underwear. I just don't know what to do with him, He's being very stubborn about potty training and will pee most of the time in the toilet but is holding his bowel movements to the point of diarrhea. I'm guessing that he doesn't want to stop playing long enough to take care of business, but I'm not sure what to do about it. Anyway, to bribe some understanding, I've promised to look into other swimming options for the weekend. Guess I should go look into them...

That's good to know. We're adding 20 min. to our day this year and instead of 25 min. before and after kids leave it's 15 on each end because they can't afford to pay us either. I figure if anything ever changes I'll be retired by then.
Friday! I'm debating whether to buy a rowing machine. The Dr. said I should get that or a bike or an elliptical. I've used a rower and liked it plus it's a more whole body workout. I've never been a fan of the bike. Hate to spend the money but I'm not supposed to walk or use my TM until this foot heals. Pool walking won't be available much longer.

We are on a four day week. We have been doing it for 7 years. I frankly hate it because with all the timelines in SPED it gives you one less day with kids to get everything accomplished. When our district went to a 4 day week, they decided that we had to get in those 5th day hours in, but they weren't going to pay us extra for the day, so what they did was take what was universal plan time (from 8-8:20 and from 3:20 to 4:00 pm) away from us. Now instead of being paid for planning before and after school we have to be at school by 7:50 in the morning and school starts at 8:05. At the end of school at 3:45 we are just on the clock until 3:50--five freaking minutes after the kids leave. So any after school meetings, IEPs or just trying to get your copying done is done pro bono. Our math and science teachers hate it because they simply can't get through the material that they use to be able to. Well they can, but they state that they are just getting through, there really isn't that much depth or quality to it. Those of us who have taught under the 5 and now the four day would go back to the 5 days in a heart beat.

Our district talked about a 4 day week at one time. Those things never seem to get too far. I'd actually have time to get more school work done with one day off. Our students get out at 2:05 on Wed. and we have PD until 4 or 4:30. Just got my new MacBook Air. So thin and light. It only took them 2 hrs. to switch everything over from our old computers.
Heather, you're farther along than I am.

Ooooh, a four day week?? With Wednesday off?? I think I could handle that. Our district has early our and PD on Wednesday (no preschool at all) and my students get out just before noon. As you might imagine, we don't always get a lot done.

Barb, I'm glad you are safe.

I'm just continuing to plug away at my school projects. I've got my writing probes mostly planned, just need to put them in my calendar. I've also got 2 1/2 answer keys left. I would still like to have my English lesson plans worked out, too. I also have several posters to enlarge, put backing on, and laminate, but I don't know if that will get done because my court liaison wants to talk about them. Depending on when that works out, it may not get done until after school starts.

We didn't find anything amiss, but that doesn't mean that someone wasn't in there. They rent out the gym and sometimes those keys don't get returned in a timely manner.

Had a scary experience after the school board meeting. I had a box of books and supplies that I as going to drop off at the elementary school that was on my way home. I used my master key to get into the building, after parking in the back lot as it was much closer to my destination and I wouldn't have to worry about negotiating a dark hallway. I had used my room key master to get in and deposit the books, on the teacher's table. When I came to lock the teacher's door I heard some noise in the hall. I called out to see if it was someone else in the building. I was having trouble with the lock and as I was attempting to get the door secured, I heard movement downstairs and a cardboard box fall to the floor. I went to the head to the stairwell and called, "Who's there?" Again no answer. I got a bad feeling, and since I couldn't put my hands on anything I could use to defend myself. I locked the door and walked to my car. I got in and then drove around the school in the car to see if I could see anything. Nothing. I had left my cell at home in the charger. I called the head janitor of the building early the next morning and told him what had happened. He and the summer help went through the entire building and found nothing missing, or vandalized. They even walked outside and inspected the ground underneath all the windows to see if there were footprints. I was glad that there was nothing damaged, destroyed, or stolen, but it still gives me the creeps. I know what I heard.

I got some done on a project for school last night but need to finish up a few things. Lesson plans are done for tomorrow. I'm going to try and look over a couple of books later. I borrowed them from another teacher and want to return them to her by Thursday.

Both my ex-husband and my husband are 4-5 years older than me. With my ex, the age span worked because he was less mature than his age. The marriage lasted just under three years when I got tired of his immaturity. My husband and I were older (mid-20s and 30ish) when we got together, so the difference never mattered. Kim, I hope everything works out for the best for everyone involved.

I stopped by school to pick up something for one of my summer projects really quickly and thought to check my voicemail. In the process of returning the couple of calls, I learned the mother of two of my former students, brother, had recently passed away. I knew she had multiple health issues, but this still came as a shock.

Otherwise, I haven't been very motivated to work on my school stuff, or my house stuff. I had better find some motivation so I'm ready when school starts.

If you guys knew my SD you'd see how immature she is. I don't have a problem with that age span if she had some life experience. That's my main concern. He's going to a concert Thursday night and she can't go because she's not 21. She has a full year before she's old enough to do some of the same things he can do. My prediction is it won't last long.
I'm ready for summer school to be done although the money is nice. When it's done we're only 2 weeks from school starting so I don't want to rush that!

My husband is 7 years older than me. I don't think my mom ever voiced it, but I wonder if she thought it odd that he was so much older. Love and support is all you can give them.

There is a 9 year difference between my daughter and her husband (he's 9 years older). She was our first child with a seven year difference between she and her brother (he complains that it was like growing up with two moms). I was a little skeptical at first when my daughter started dating this man, but they seem to be delightful compliments to each other. They have weathered two major life upheavals (change of jobs and move out of state) with two daughters under the age of 7 and seemed to have come through this beautifully. One never knows.

I talked to a friend who is a counselor and she said to go with how we feel and if this guy sticks around for the long haul we would be willing to rethink it. She just said to let her know we love her and support her and to voice our concerns. Because she's so young I'm curious what his interest is in her. She's also very immature. We'll see how it goes. That's not to say she isn't a great girl. I'm glad your situation is working out! Thanks for the advice:).

Kim.....my daughter started dating a guy 13 years older than her. He is closer to my age than hers. It really upset me at first. Then I spent time with them together and learned that he is really good to her. He is quite immature and she has always been mature beyond her years. It is a nice mix of the two of them.

Heather....sorry about your husband's foot! I hope it heals well.

Ouch! Those TVs weigh a ton. We still have 2 in the basement.
We do have to do that don't we Heather? Maybe before school starts although with 2 more weeks of summer school, then vacation, and baby who knows. We've been saying this for 2 yrs!

Kerry, good for you for calling the AD to get donations for the benefit.

Kim, at the risk of sounding like a broken record, I have to point out that you were in my neck of woods again and we still didn't meet. :) Good luck with getting your drama to stop.

I got the TV stand mostly put together last night, and this morning Hubby and I put the TV on the mount. Then came the time to take down the old tube television down. It weighed a ton and going down the steps and out to the garage Hubby dropped it on the side of his foot. A fairly short trip to Urgent Care later and he's in a boot for a broken bone.

For now, I'm going to enjoy the evening with my boys and get some school stuff done.

Kerry, so great that you can inspire your friends to eat healthier.
It's natural to miss your husband and there's nothing wrong with a few tears. At least you're getting out of the house and staying busy.
Pool walking for me later. I went to the huge mall in Des Moines today. I got what I wanted right away but made sure to walk the whole mall to get in more steps. I should be over my 10k after pool walking tonight.
Our latest drama is that my 19 y.o. step daughter has decided to start dating a 29 y.o. I'm open minded but she's quite immature, has little guy experience so her dad and I aren't ok with it. He may be the nicest guy on earth but he should be in a different place in his life than she is. She's got a good head on her shoulders but when you're "in love" you can be swayed into doing things you aren't comfortable with. We're supposed to go to dinner Tues. night for my daughter and SIL's anniversary and her bday but she says she isn't coming if he isn't invited. Now if her dad will just stick to that. She's always ignored us or thrown a fit if she doesn't get her way. She knows how her dad feels about this guy. I hate drama!

I hope you all enjoy yourselves today! Take some time for yourself even it if is 10 minutes and focus on yourself!

I am pleased with what I got donated to my dh's benefit that my one married in niece is putting on. She asked for help getting donations for the silent auction. At first, I didn't feel comfortable doing it. But I asked her about getting something donated from the school's sports teams since my dh's kids played on them and he enjoyed going to the games. She said that she didn't think we needed anything from them since she is also going to do a softball tournament next month. That would involve the kids from the teams. So I emailed the athletic director and he emailed me back today. He is going to donate a family pass for four people for the school's 2014-15 year to get in at all sporting events. Plus he is going to try and put something else together. I just thought that was very sweet of him!

I did enjoy my dinner with my friends last night. In fact, because of me they started to cook and eat healthier. emoticon My friend has diabetes and doesn't really watch it that well. So I am hoping to inspire her and help her lose a few pounds too! Then I had fun hanging out with my stepkids and niece and nephew and their two kids last night at the bon fire. I was fine until I was on the way home from dropping my one stepson off at his house after we took his girlfriend home. Then I started to cry as I listened to a country song on the radio. It is the one about fall into my arms and I will protect you. I was already missing my dh last night because we always did stuff with his nephew and his family all the time. But that really did it for me last night. The good thing is I pulled myself together and got some much needed rest last night. I haven't been sleeping that good here lately. So I am hoping after I got the sleep mist spray at Bath and Body Works the other day, that is going to help me.

The funny thing is I remembered to unplug the school's printer, but forgot to do mine. Hopefully they will get the message. The only good thing is that I know my good aide is working the summer program as the school.

Kim, I hope you are going to be able to get everything unpacked and ready before students arrived. I know this year there were a couple of programs who were not able to get into their new classrooms until the weekend before school was to start. One of the programs that was moving into a newly built addition even started school without the ability to open the windows. Good thing the building was air conditioned.

Janine, I hope you have some recourse for this person using your things. I agree with Barb that that is pretty gutsy.

Kerry, Iím glad you enjoyed your day of pampering. I couldnít imagine walking into a house uninvited, so I hope your step children get the hint. Enjoy your dinner with friends.

Well, my laundry is just about done. Iím down to the socks. Then Iím going to work on putting together a TV stand for the new TV. Our TV has been consistently losing color for months, so weíve been preparing to replace it. Lately it has also had periodic issues turning on. Time for the new one. Weíll see if I can get this done by myself with three little helpers. :) From there, Iíll head to working on school stuff.

Hi everyone,
I hope you are all having a great day!
Yeah that is a big problem in my school too! People taking things and not asking. What is really bad is when they don't return it or they break it (and not replace it). There is one teacher in our building that if something comes up missing we go to his room to look for it. LOL and it is usually there.
Kim I hope your evening out was fun!
Barb sorry to hear that your vacation was cut short! I hope that you can fix the things on Monday and not have to spend anymore of your time off working.
Heather I know all about the battle with laundry. It is never ending battle!
Janine I hope you get your stuff done school by the end of the month so you can have some time off.
I went out yesterday with a friend. We were only going to be gone a couple hours. Six hours later we came home. But it was fun! I got a manicure and it was nice to be pampered. Next week we are going and taking our other friend for pedicures. I bought a door lock for my front door, so my stepkids can't come over and party at my house while I am not there. I also got two dvd's to workout to when school starts, a devotion book and some stuff from Bath and Body Works. Guess I need to get my shower for the day. I have been busy doing stuff around the house and just got my workout in a little bit ago. I have to go out to dinner with two of my friends. Then go up to my nephews house for a family bon fire. I just found out about it about an hour ago. So I feel like I have to juggle my plans around them. It was something my stepdaughter wanted but my niece texted me to invite me since my stepdaughter didn't.
Oh well I will go and make the stepkids happy. Don't want to cause trouble with them especially when their mom tells them about the door lock and no keys for them

All my boxes were taken that I need to use to pack all my summer school stuff into. The gal who is running the afternoon program got me some more. They also took our scissors and finally gave some back to every teacher but we didn't get the nice ones back that we each paid for. We have to bring our own supplies and they should too.
Going to finish cleaning the house and work on some school stuff.

I went to my classroom yesterday and discovered someone had gotten into my classroom library and someone has been using my color printer (it is mine and I pay for the ink). That did not make me happy.

With 3 kids the laundry never ends!
It seems there's always something to deal with related to school even though it's summer. I hear our building remodel is on schedule which makes me happy. We can't get in early so we'll get in for the 3 workshop days which consist of meetings. That means working every night to unpack before the kids start Thurs., the 14th.

Kim, I know you'll get your school stuff done. I've had to prioritize some of my things so that some won't get done, but I will have the most important things done.

Janine, I know you will get your stuff done. :)

Barb, I'm sorry your vacation is being cut short. Feel free to rant here as much as you need. I hope you are going to be able to take care of your few things then return to vacation.

I'll be heading to the gym tonight plus taking the kids swimming after my workout. This weekend my plan is to get my laundry under control again... Stupid laundry battle...

Barb....sorry your vacation is being cut shorter than it should! I hope you get things sorted out Monday so you can enjoy the rest of your time.

No work Fridays are really nice! If only the school year were 4 days a week. Unfortunately there was no sleeping in for me. I for some odd reason made a dentist appointment for this morning. I'm up and ready to face the day. Going wedding cupcake shopping with my niece today. It should be fun!

Well guess I am going in to the office on Monday because as of yesterday I had three voice mails, two emails and a phone call wondering what to do about certain things. We came back from Ames and it is like the district has decided I am done with my vacation. We don't start school here until the 19th of August. Could I have one week to myself? Okay, that was kind of a rant. I know that it is better for me to go in Monday and get things done correctly than to let people fend for themselves and then it takes me twice as long to get things straightened out because it wasn't done correctly. Have two things that have to be corrected with the state because someone just decided to put in what they "thought" looked right, instead of what was supposed to reported.

Kim, Iím glad you were able to get your walking in last night. I hope you enjoy your outing tomorrow. It is totally amazing how fast this summer is flying by. I have the rest of this week and next week with totally ďnothingĒ to do, a week of swimming lessons after that, then camp with the boys for the next two weeks.

Kerry, way to go for standing up for yourself! Let us know how well your relatives handle their portion of helping.

Iím slowly working on my school stuff as the summer progresses. I finished another thing today. I think Iím down to five answer keys to create, then I need to put everything in binders and get them labeled before school starts again. I think I want to shoot for having all of the answer keys done and put away by the end of this month so that I can have a few days without working before I go in to start getting my room done. I will also have to do intakes with those students who will be coming to my program.

Otherwise, Iím going to be heading to tae kwon do tonight. Iíve asked the assistant instructor to take a few minutes after class to work on my forms. They are absolutely giving me fits as I try to learn them. I think I have three of the four down, so one more to goÖ

Hi everyone,
Thank you for all your kind words and advice. I am going to just tell people here this is what I need you to do with the thank you notes. Thanks again for being a wonderful group of friends!
Janine, I agree with everyone else. She is lucky to have that much help with her kiddos! I have been in the situation where I had three wheelchairs, five students able to walk, but you had to hold on to two of them and only three adults in the room. She needs a big dose of reality that everyone has to fend for themselves at times. Plus she needs to be told no a couple of times and maybe she will stop her prima donna crap. :) Hope it gets better for you!
Kim I hope you have a great time going out with friends for dinner for your one friend's birthday. I would love to have somewhere close by to be able to pool walk. I bet that is a great exercise! My one friend kept saying about going to her sister's pool this summer but I have yet to be invited to go. But that is how this friend is! She always makes promises to do stuff and then never follows through.
Heather glad you had a great visit with your dad. Sounds like you have learned to adapt your life around his schedule without causing to much chaos in your life.
Hope everyone has a great Thursday.
I am finally done filling out paperwork for dh's passing. So I plan on turning that in today after I get my butt moving. I am to go with a group of our friend's to a baseball game tonight for a minor league team in our area. So that should be fun!
Chat with you all later.

Janine: I think that your problem child needs to grow up and be told that things don't grow on trees and everyone is doing more with less. Man I would have loved to have 5 staff for 6 kids! Next time she complains about something ask her if she has a solution in mind and the money to pay for the solution. I know it is easy for me to say this but she sounds like she needs a dose of reality.

That's understandable Heather and I doubt you're the only one struggling with that issue with their dad.
We got to the pool last night and it was a good walk. I can't go tomorrow night. A bunch of people are meeting at a restaurant to surprise our friend who had the stroke for his bday. Should be a nice time. I went to lunch today with some friends from my old school. They're teaching summer school too. It was fun to chat, vent, and get caught up with everyone.

Kim, I hope you are able to get your walking in tonight, although I heard we were in for storms tomorrow...

Janine, my guess is that your "problem child" is used to getting what she wants through her complaining and that no one has ever told her no. There could also be an issue of some type of nepotism.

My father leaves today. It has been a revealing visit, though not as stressful as his usual visits. One of the things that I've realized is that at the ripe old age of ___, I'm still seeking my father's approval. Why? Guess that will be something I work on in the future. Otherwise, I will be heading to water aerobics tonight.

I do find it funny that this teacher always prefaces things by saying "I don't mean to complain but..." I want to get mad and yell that she does in fact mean to or she wouldn't. So far nothing today, but I did give her an extra set of hands. Maybe that will quiet her down for the rest of the week.

She obviously is one of those people who enjoys making others unhappy. I had one of those working in our department a couple of years ago. She decided to take early retirement when the position she wormed her way into didn't turn out to be as easy as she thought it would be.

I will tell you that my special ed. director would be very blunt and say that the amount of people she has is plenty to get them all out. She'd leave it at that with no discussion. I hate being like that but I guess you have to sometimes or people try to walk all over you. Good luck! I'm interested to see what others suggest.
