Luckily our janitors send out an email in the morning telling us which wing they'll be waxing and when it will be dry. Really helps!

Wow, the adventures of LINKY. At least you were wearing socks. I've lived in my sandals all summer, so I would have messed up the wax...

Today's project is sorting clothes for school for my kids. What still fits, what doesn't fit, what is too worn out. Friday and Saturday are tax-free days on school supplies and clothes. There are usually some pretty good sales, too. Hopefully the list won't be too long, though... I'm also planning on heading to the fairgrounds to pick up our tickets for the fair. The Iowa State Fair starts next Thursday, and pre-purchased tickets are quite a bit cheaper.

Got "waxed in" yesterday. The janitorial staff didn't realize I was up on third floor and there was no way for me to get downstairs from my third floor office. I did manage to escape. They told me to take my shoes off and go down the south staircase (the wax there was hard, it just hadn't been sealed). Down three floors in my socks, good grief.

I feel so sorry for the janitor. They are behind schedule because other contractors have come in and messed up where they have just finished cleaning. These other contractors don't seem to realize that we have school starting August 19. That's the first day with kids we start back with meetings on the 15th.

It's warm for Alaska this summer, and I'm finding not much motivition to exercise. Two weeks until we go back--I'm looking forward to it.

Another cooler day. The humidity was a little higher, but Bella and I got our walk in. Now need to go to school and try and get the requisition sorted. They put them in my office, but then the fire alarm people drilled holes in my walls and ceiling so everything is covered in brick dust. Not looking forward to this.

Loving this cooler weather. It allowed me to get my garage cleaned and organized yesterday and today. Then for my regular time at the gym I went on the treadmill and walked/jogged (more walked than jogged) a 5K. I did it in about 53 minutes, so I guess that will be my time to improve on. :)

We are having very unusual weather for the 29th of July. It rained today, on and off all day. It also was only 65 degrees. (That is usually what the morning 6 a.m. temp.) It is supposed to stay this way all week. Bella and I walked briskly this morning because it was pretty cool. It reminded me of September.

I'm doing some rearranging of those things I still need to do this summer so I can be available sooner for student intakes. Looks like the garage is going to be this week's project. I'm also going to go through the clothes and pitch the worn out stuff and create a list for tax-free days this coming weekend. Next week is half day and full day camp for my older boys, so I should be able to get some classroom time, though I don't know that I have a lot of stuff to do... I'm sure there is more than I realize, though.

At 6:48 this morning I got an e-mail from the state saying that our school district's sped program will be reviewed SEPTEMBER 11. The review team leader left me a laundry list of things that she needs, but she said, "no rush."

I went in and worked 4 hours today to clear off summer stuff so I can start on the 9/11 work. Yippee.

I'm down to just under a month before going back to school and getting kids, officially. I'll need to do program intakes before that, but my court liaison doesn't start working until Aug. 1st. I'll hopefully be able to schedule things for the week of Aug. 5-9, when my oldest two are at day camp. I won't know anything until I can talk to my court liaison, then in turn call the parents to set stuff up.

I've still got several things to do for going back to school, but most of them aren't horribly pressing. They will get done or be set for when I actually need them. I do want to get some English planning done, though. That is probably the most time consuming thing I have to do.

My house is coming along, too. The garage is the only "room" left to clean and organize. Sadly, though, if it isn't one thing it is another. So far this week, my son has split open his toe again narrowly avoiding more stitches, followed by a clogged sink and a call to a plumber, and now my furnace/air conditioner fan is on the fritz. Something has to slow down, soon, right?

Summer is winding down for me too. I went in two days so far this week and got my room put together somewhat. Most furniture is in place and areas set up of where things will go. Still lots to do, going through previous teachers' materials as well as my own, deciding what I will use, what should be stored, and what needs to go! My 15yo dd has been very helpful with all of that and her boyfriend came today and helped put up my light covers. Teachers officially return 2 weeks from today and students start Aug 19.

I am recovering well from surgery. Bruising is almost gone now and swelling is barely noticeable. Hate the numbness in my lower lip and chin, but that will take longer to recover from.

Ready to hit the beach one more time before school starts back (Virginia this time). 15yo dd and I are going tomorrow to get our hair done to get ready to go back to school.

LINKY, I'm glad your trip went well.

Tonight is supposed to be tae kwon do, but I'm not sure I'll make it. RAGBRAI is in town. Twenty to fifty thousand cyclists with a giant party a couple of blocks away from the YMCA. Hopefully traffic won't be too bad, but if it is I'll give up. Not worth the giant traffic headache.

Back home by 8:15 this evening. The wackos were out on the Interstate today. Glad to be home. Took a walk today around the Capitol building (in Pierre). Needed that before crawling into the car for four hour drive home.

Hope tomorrow isn't too humid as I will need to get the lawn mowed before we need to get goats or something to bring down the jungle.

Sink is not reparable as a hubby do-it-himself. He spent two hours with a sink augur and got no where. Call into the plumber for tomorrow, hopefully. Since it is my kitchen sink, I'm limited to the amount of cooking I can do unless I want to wash the dishes in my bathroom sink... Not by choice, thank you...

I won't go into school until Aug. 1st because that will be when my court liaison will be back to work. I'm hoping to be able to do my intakes during the week of Aug. 5th, but I'm kind of doubting that will happen. It will likely be the following week. I've been slowing working on other school stuff over the summer so that my curriculum options will be set. I've also done the credit checks for my known students and have a plan of actions for each of them. Still have several things to do between now and then, but I also have time. :)

Sounds like everyone is making the most of their summer! I love Cedar Point. We are planning to take the kids up there next summer and spend a few days, plus go to Niagara Falls and Canada's Wonderland in Toronto. I hate that Geuaga Lake (sp?) closed, though. We liked that one even more, but when Cedar Fair bought out Paramount, they closed it (at least the roller coaster side, water park may still be there?).

Kitty, I know it feels that way. Our A/C went out Wednesday night and I'm afraid my freezer may be next.

We have 17 days before teachers report back. I will be going into my classroom some this week to start getting things set up and sort through materials. I already feel like I am running behind and am unsure of the material I'll be teaching this year. So much to do, so little time!

Took my older girls to Cedar Point and Put in Bay they had an absolute blast and it counted for my walking as exercise. This week we leave for a long weekend to visit my stepdaughter who lives in NY. We are looking forward to that as well.

LINKY, I hope your meeting goes well. Maybe it will end early so you can have some extra time for walking. And thanks for the support.

Sadly, if it isn't one thing it is another. My oldest popped open the scabbed over cut where his stitches had been. An hour of bleeding, screaming, crying, and applying pressure and we avoided a trip to the ER for another round of stitches. emoticon Right after that I found that my sink had backed up when I ran the dishwasher. Really?? That is the project for today, I guess...

Hope things go better this week Kitty.

I am trying to have a good attitude. I have to leave by 9:00 this morning to drive to Pierre (four hours in the car) for a two day meeting. Then I have to go back again on Friday for another meeting. I will spend more time in the car than at the meeting (Agenda says we will start meeting at 11:00 have a working lunch and then end at 2:00. So I spend 8 hours total in a car for a meeting that lasts four hours?)

I will try and go to a happy place in my head.

KIM, thanks for the advice. He is climbing EVERYTHING. Today we went to the zoo and there was a jungle gym for kids. He found the ladder under the set and climbed up that like a monkey. Scared my husband to death since he had never actually seen that, though I had repeatedly told him about Mouse's climbing. I'm going to look into climbing outlets, though. Thanks.

Zoo trip went great, though I didn't rack up as many steps as I thought I would. Gives me hope for the kids staying together and following directions when we do the fair in a few weeks. Also took my older two swimming tonight. Sadly, that didn't go so well. My oldest doesn't want to listen to when it is time to get out of the pool. No swimming next week as a consequence... :(

Kitty, my youngest (now 10) was a climber (see, there is hope, you and he will survive!!). I was her daycare teacher and rearranged the nursery 3 times in a week trying to keep her from climbing while I was feeding the smaller babies, changing diapers, or otherwise occupied!

One thing that helped was giving her an outlet. I took a padded crawl-through piece that we had in the nursery and created a stair-step climber for her to get up to the changing table and took her outside to climb on playground equipment.

She didn't climb as much at home, but I installed a playset that had a climbing ramp/wall in our backyard. Inside, I just had to be extra diligent and remind her about not climbing in the house.

Good luck.

Yeah, with the new setup, I'm sure the meetings will take longer, and I'm usually one of the teachers with the longer meetings already because I want to be thorough.

Well, it's back to the drawing board for me. My youngest, the climber, is back at it. We had rearranged his room two weeks ago, now he is moving his bed, older brother's bed, and still climbing and making a mess. Yesterday he moved his bed and barricaded himself in his room then climbed on the changing table and got stuck. He was crying, wanting down, all the while we were trying to get into the room. Now what am I going to do?

Our district is one of 24 pilot schools in South Dakota that will be working the bugs out of the new state accountability system (the state got a NCLB waiver). Cripes. Like we don't have enough on our plates.

On the bright side, Kitty, maybe the paperwork change will free up some time so you can actually (gasp) teach?!

We went to a new system last year, too, but it seems to actually take longer in the meeting itself and I had administration (another school, one of mine that went to high school) tell me that his teacher and i could work out the wording after the meeting, there was no need to waste time on that while the parents were in the room! Um, pretty sure its required that it be done while they are in the room!

I hear you MOMKAT. I think I'm safe on IEP writing until at least October. My district has a rule that IEPs, including those due in September be done by May 1 so any corrections can be done by the end of the school year. This past year was April 1 so that consultants and supervisors could approve before May 1 because we are getting a new IEP system. I already had training on that... *rolls eyes* I don't think they could idiot proof it any more than they have; it is almost all drop down menus or choose from a bank of responses. You know, I have a Master's degree in special education; I never thought I was an idiot. Apparently my state does, at least as it applies to the paperwork. :P

Today is my monthly grocery shopping trip to Costco. I'm looking to stock up on some of my credit completion rewards for my students since the household list is pretty short. Otherwise it will be a hibernation day from the heat and humidity. Actual temp is in the low 90s but heat index will be near 100 with the humidity. *pant, pant*

We - teachers go back Aug. 12. Principal, secretary, guidance all do back next week. I had an email for SPED co. office, 2 IEPs need revision right away, and a triennial that was due over summer (new student from another school) will need completed as soon as we get back. I love it when the state changes a requirement, and then we have to re-write an IEP after the fact (they were all done in May) to meet the year's requirement. Oh, the fun of SPED. The one think you can count on is change.

My court liaison is off until Aug. 1st, then I'll be calling parents to set up intake meetings. All this will be before school starts. I've got inservice and meetings for three days then have students start Aug. 22nd.

Today Hubby and I installed a new kitchen ceiling fan. Yesterday during nap time/quiet time I worked on credit checks for my students. This will come in handy for student intakes (i.e. student has ___ credits, needs ___ credits) and planning for course completion as well as what my day is going to look like.

I know what you mean. We have 3 weeks from Wednesday until staff goes back. Then I'll have a week (including the county-wide staff meeting, school-based meetings, and a full-day workshop) to figure out my room and teaching plan before open house on the following Thursday, and students have a full 5 weeks from today before they come back.

It is a little overwhelming! Furniture, teaching materials, figuring out my role in each class I work with... there is so much to do! We will get everything done, though, and everything will be in place for a wonderful year!

We already did a lot of smoothies, anyway. 10yo and 13yo dd like a simple strawberry banana. 13yo is ok with spinach in it, and I sneak some into 10yo dds sometimes. 15yo dd likes mango, peach, and banana. For all, I use milk or yogurt and sometimes add a little vanilla protein powder if I think they need it. For me, I use a variety of fruits and veggies, protein powders, ground flax, nuts, etc.

Our exchange student is from Germany. She is a year older than my oldest dd, but they will be in the same grade and will play soccer together. 13yo dd just left for soccer camp and 10yo dd is spending the night with a friend, so we started today working on changing rooms. It will be easier when everyone isn't here! Not as big a deal if all beds aren't in place!

KIM, I'm glad your surgery went well and you are on the road to recovery. I'm hoping to experiment with some smoothies with my children, so let me know of any really good ones. :) Sounds like you've still got a busy summer. Where is your foreign exchange student from?

I keep plugging away on my summer projects. Today's house project was to clean and organize the food storage containers. Done. I'm a little behind on laundry, but my older boys will be going to a small town festival and spending the night with my aunt tonight, so I can easily get caught up. School projects are also coming along.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!!

Wow, feels like I've been gone for a month! Sounds like things are still pretty crazy for everyone, with new jobs, remodeling, and strange employees!

We had a great time at the beach and I am now quietly recovering from jaw surgery. My face swelled tremendously, but is slowly returning to normal. chin and lower lip are still numb, and may be for 6 months or more! I'm enjoying playing with smoothie combinations. I am hoping to get my bands off the Thursday before students come back to school on Monday, Aug 19. That Tuesday (8/20) is officially 6 weeks, but we're hoping we can do it a little early! I do not want to start school banded shut, and he isn't in the office past 3pm, so I'd have to miss class during the first few days of school.

I got an email from my old principal that my furniture had been moved to my new school the day of my surgery. It can wait until I get back on the official workdays! I'm doing some things from home, but I'm not going in until I have to.

We have one more trip planned at the end of the month, spending a couple days at a cabin in the Shenandoah mountains in Virginia, then a few days at Virginia Beach. When we get back, our foreign exchange student will be coming in and I will be going back to work. Gotta get bedrooms figured out and furniture arranged before we leave. That gives me 2 weeks!

She called us while we were at Myrtle Beach and dh talked to her. She is excited, as are we. She has already looked us up on Facebook and has talked to my girls also.

Everyone enjoy what is left of your summer!

LINKY, I hope things go well for your student. I had a student like that, who desperately needed out of his dysfunctional home. The judge kept talking about sending him to Boys Town, but both the student and the parent kept pulling out the progress at the last minute to avoid the placement. The student did, however miss a court date and went on the run, so I don't know what has or will become. I also hope your dad's visit to the pulmonologist goes well.

NFLATTE, good luck with your interview.

I apparently haven't been getting updates of posting, so I had to get caught up. It has been a mostly uneventful week. Did some e-mailing back and forth with my court liaison on some plans and schedules for next year. She loved the changes and the schedule.

I also seem to be back on my good eating habits this week. I haven't been exercising as I usually do, though. Early in the week the heat and humidity was horrible, when I broke I just didn't have the motivation. Tonight I did a 20 minute walk on the treadmill and took my oldest two boys swimming. When we got home I got my bike out of the garage rafters, aired up the tires, and hooked up my "new" bike trailer (thanks Craigslist). The kids and I went for a short bike ride around the block. I'm not very steady on the bike after so many years of not riding plus pulling the trailer, but it wasn't took bad. Mouse really liked it. When we got home and I got him unhooked from the trailer he said, "Do it again, Mommy." We'll do it again soon.

After 20+ yrs. in the gen. ed. classroom, I recently received my masters & sp. ed. licensing for 'intense intervention'.....Just received word that an elementary position has opened in our Autism program....This class readies students with autism for integration to the the gen. ed. classroom...Well, I took the plunge and applied...One of my grad colleagues teaches the life-skills counterpart in the same building and is thrilled that I might work with her...Interviews are next week...We'll see what unfolds emoticon

I am starting to look forward to the beginning of school. Will spend some time next week working on what I can. I like to use songs in my room to teach with, so I will most likely get those ready for the first week. I have to start my class off the way I need it to run as much as I can for my students.

Sometimes the story and baggage the kids bring is the hardest part of my job. I just found out that a little guy in our summer program was born addicted and is now severely disabled due to be shaken as an infant. It brought tears to my eyes. Sometimes people just suck. I pray your student gets the help me needs and a shot at a better life.

Wahoo. I feel like I have just finished the marathon (couldn't do it in this humidity, though that would be more than foolish).

Anyway, just got a call from CCHS. Their behavior unit had an opening and is going to take one of my little guys on the 25th of this month. I have been working on this placement for three months. Poor kid has seem more in his ten years than any child should see or experience in a lifetime. We are hoping for an intermediate time (9-15 months). This child needs to be out of this very dysfunctional living situation and into a structured (and nurturing) environment.

I actually don't mind if my admins see my kids acting out because they can see how I handle a student. Of course, there have been times I have said things I have wished I hadn't as well. I hate those observations that occur for a few minutes and then become the deciding factor in the admins' mind. Hopefully I will see better things today.

I totally get it. I was being observed during a small group activity when one of my other students decided to be distracting and disruptive. After redirecting him a few times, the parent in me took over, and what comes out of my mouth? "Don't make me ask you again." Really? I know better than that. Of course, he was perfectly well behaved before my principal stopped in to observe. It is totally different. A teacher has the student(s) all day, and I would hope is doing more than babysitting, but an administrator sees only a few minutes. While we as teachers hope those minutes are positive, they sometimes aren't. If there are problems seen by the administrator, I hope they return to see a pattern.

I certainly did just walk out of the room and not look back. Putting on an administrator's lens has been interesting. It has also made me reflect on how I must look to my admins. I hope I come off better than much of what I have seen! Just because we work with the most severe of populations, doesn't mean we have to spend the day "babysitting" and doing nothing.

JIACOLO, I hope things get better. There are days when you just have to hang on by the skin of your teeth.

LINKY, I hope they get your office cleaned soon. My husband, former custodian, is cringing next too me. He always hated the lack of communication that resulted in him having to redo work.

A very quiet day for me. Got the laundry folded, put away, and caught up again. I also dug through my stash of school supplies and put together what I had a created a small list of stuff I still had to buy for my son. It's too humid to do much of anything else. The actual temperature isn't that bad, but the humidity is just killer. My oldest son went out to play and was back inside to cool off within ten minutes. I have a couple small errands to run that I might do, but that is about it. *pant, pant*

Some days are like that. You just have to put it aside or you will go crazy. Was at the school board meeting last night, speaking of crazy. After the meeting I went into my office which evidently had some work done that no one told me about. There is brick dust and plaster all over the floor. The file cabinets and bookshelves are covered. It's a shame because two weeks ago the janitorial staff had just finished cleaning my office. Thank god I didn't pull everything out and have things set up ready to go for next year. That would have been a mess. Don't know if the head custodian knows what the office looks like, but I imagine he isn't happy. When I flipped on the hall lights so that I could find my way to the copy room last night, there were ceiling tiles propped up all over and wires hanging down. So obviously they are still working on things. There is a fine layer of grit all over the floor--that was just waxed and buffed two weeks ago and had a beautiful sheen on the terrazzo. I bet Fred and Jack are just in tears.

The new classroom teacher willingly set up and ran a classroom today. I went in a few times to check on them. I wasn't overly thrilled when I went in once and two girls were eating shaving cream off their hands, one boy had a can of shaving cream and was squirting it all over, and the teacher was focused on just one student. I actually walked out. lol I was worried it would make me crazy if I didn't.

PURPLESPEDCOW, I wouldn't call it a new computer system, more a redesigned system? Nothing has really changed, but things have been broken down into tabs within pages. I would say they tried to idiot proof by over half the IEP check boxes or drop down menus. I'm not really worried about the form changes, but I'll be allotting extra time. The bummer was that I was paid for time to watch a video and there were NO opportunities for hands on anything so I'll be flying somewhat blind in the fall...

...And tomorrow is a new day for rearranging the boys' room. I spent all that time this morning and Mouse figured out a way to destroy it this afternoon. :(

Kitty: I am with you when it comes to training; at least let me follow along with a monk IEP. Is it a new computer system?

Hard to believe I only have three weeks left of summer! This week is quiet, next week lots of babysitting DGS, then DD2 and her family come down for a wedding and get to spend a week with us. Good way to end the summer. Will spend lots of time with both grandkids that week.

JIACOLO, there really isn't much motivation involved. I'd originally allotted a week to do the closet project so that I could pick the day it worked best based on my motivation, planned activities, and kiddo cooperation (aka getting along vs. fighting). The bedroom came when my Mouse starting climbing and being unsafe, thus becoming a priority. :P

...And the rearranging and toddler proofing is done. I was so motivated to get it done, I did it in my PJs, and without wearing my Fitbit. An hour and a half of cleaning, moving, and housework (and steps and calories burned) not accounted for. :( Guess I'll have to go back and manually add it later.

Now, I'm sitting in training for navigating the new IEP version that started the 1st of the month. There is no IEP content, we're watching a PowerPoint with videos imbedded showing how to get around in the new IEP system. I get paid for it, but it isn't really helpful for me as a tactile/do-it learner. Note to self: leave extra time for first IEP I will be writing to allow for self-teaching time. :)

Crockpots are cooking several meals and breakfast for the week. I've also cleaned the hall closet, which was the project for the week. Now I can re-box all the baby clothes in my younger boys' closet and put them in there for a garage sale next summer, then rearrange their room.

I am throwing out my painting clothes after this. I am getting too old to be climbing around ladders. But the sense of accomplishment is wonderful.

How about coming to my house? I'm going to be rearranging my younger boys' room so my Mouse can't do his new trick: climb on Peanut's bed then use that as a "launching pad" to climb onto the changing table. Yep, I've got a climber!!

I'm also hoping this week will be the week I succeed in implementing my new eating plan for my kids. A veggie and/or fruit with every meal. My kids, especially my Peanut, are turning into carb addicts... Wish me luck...

After 5 years, I am down to the last room in the house that needs painting! I will do that Monday and then be finished. If I want anything repainted, I think I will hire someone to do it!

JIACOLO, I hope everything works out. I don't understand her goals in doing this, and her not being on the list sounds fishy, too.

I don't think so. I had changed her 3 times this week to fill needs in rooms that needed extra hands.

I believe she thought she was going to get teacher pay, but I had identified her to our payroll as a para for the program. We'll see what happens Monday when we get back to work. Payday is tomorrow. If she doesn't get paid as a teacher I expect her to cause a stink.

I have no idea why this person wouldn't identify herself as a teacher. In our district, no one would do that because of the pay differential between teachers and paras. To me that would be a bit fishy. Don't know what the motivation was there. Hope that things go smoother the rest of the summer.

Ok everyone...I need input. I am the program coordinator for one of our summer programs. It started 5 days ago, with the first day being for prep and then the kids come the next day. On the first day when I called out the names of staff, I had one who approached me and said I did not call her name. (The supervisor does the hiring of staff. I was given a list of names, with 7 teachers indicated). This woman indicated she was sent a letter by the supervisor to report here. I took her and was elated as I was down staff. (In hindsight, I should have emailed the supervisor to verify, but I got busy with work.) Long story short, I have used her as a paraprofessional floater in several rooms. Today the teacher she worked with offered her up to another room as this room is down in numbers. As we talked, the classroom teacher asked why I wasn't using this para as a teacher. I asked why and was informed that this para is actually a teacher in the district. I confirmed this with the supervisor and then went to see the para/teacher to ask them. Then I informed her she would be moving into a classroom and I would be able to divide the larger elementary classrooms into 3 smaller ones.

Here's my gripe....am I right to be annoyed by this woman's indifference to wanting me to know she was a teacher? When the heck was she planning on telling me she should be in a teacher role and not as a para???!!!

Sounds like everybody is busy and preoccupied with life. That happens, and there is nothing worse than having to convene a meeting over the summer, job wise.

Hope everybody heals nicely, physically and emotionally.

BOMBCHELL, I'm sorry for the loss of your classmate.

This is just not turning into my week. My poor son filleted his toe open when he caught his foot/shoe in the peddle of a cycling bike yesterday as I stopped to talk to my tae kwon do master for a few minutes. Four hours in the ER and six stitches later, we got to come home with instructions to see a podiatrist "in the next few days" and not to remove or change the dressing until seen by the podiatrist. Do you know what a feat this is? The podiatrist we were originally referred to isn't available until next Tuesday. The other option isn't available until next Thursday. Finally a return phone call to the ER gets me that he doesn't REALLY need to see a podiatrist, just a doctor to do wound care because of the type of wound is at increased risk of infection. Okay, problem solved, appointment Friday with the family doctor, but it has taken me all day to get this done. My poor baby!!

LINKY, you just can't seem to win. Hope you heal fast and have no more accidents.

I went to my classroom for a few minutes this morning. I completed one small organizational project then did an inventory of math books. From there I went to the "book room" and took a few more math books. Math is one of those classes that most of my students are in desperate need of, and I want to make sure I have enough books to cover all of my students. I also want to make sure I have an answer key for each of them. Now to do a little shopping on Amazon... :) Oh, no, shopping on Amazon, however will I survive?

Need to go to school today after I do my duty at the library. A group of us from school read at the Tuesday story hour at the library. Today is my turn.

Got the treatment plan for a student who was out of district placed the last of May. We did the meeting via phone conference, so need to go in with the documents that were e-mailed, sign the appropriate ones and send e-mail the appropriate pages back.

Was in a bike mishap last night. Good news is that my toe seems to be back in place and doesn't hurt. The bad news is that I have road rash on my left leg and a sprained right wrist. I just one to make it through July in one piece.

Purplecow: The changes to your house sound wonderful.

PURPLESPEDCOW, the new room arrangements sound lovely. You'll have to do a blog and post pictures. :)

Thanks for the support. For me, it's a matter of knowing I did the right thing, but I didn't want it affecting my children. Unrealistic I know, but it's there nonetheless. I'm glad that he doesn't seem to be afraid of dogs. He's never been big on having dogs jump on him, but he isn't showing any signs of any fear.

Today was eye exams for three of us. My Peanut failed his vision screening during his well child check, so we had to get an official exam. Turns out he is near-sighted, which is typical of his age and will likely grow out of it (and into near-sightedness if he's like the rest of the family...) but has astigmatism, which he likely won't grow out of.

Tomorrow I'm hoping to make a short trip into my classroom to look for some books and maybe make some copies. We'll see what time allows. For now, I'm off to put my little ones to bed. :)

Kitty - I was bitten by a dog as a child and the dog wasn't removed. I spent the next 20 years learning to not be afraid of black dogs. You did the right thing. I am sorry that your children are being bullied about it. Make sure your children are safe - that is the most important thing.

Tomorrow, DH and I are going to order the shelves for his den and I will start moving books from the downstairs room to the upstairs room when they arrive. We are also getting a hutch for his desk, two end tables for the bedroom, and a rocker for me and the grands!
