That's worse than jury duty! Hope it goes well and doesn't eat up too much of your remaining summer days.

Long summer break this year because of construction...so I have inservice on Sept. 1 and 2 and start with students on Sept. 7th.

I have several days with work related meetings in August though...a kick off cook out for my interns this year; a couple of IEP meetings; and I've been called to testify in a trial for a couple days.

When resisting, ask, "What am I afraid of?"

"If you are still sweating, you aren't dead." (Nike tshirt that I should have bought on the spot!)

What a project and what a feeling of accomplishment. I don't blame you for not wanting to borrow money. I've been selling/giving away stuff I don't need and working hard to pay off debt.

Roxell, it will be very nice, not fancy, when we finish. I drew all the designs and did all the work necessary to get a construction loan when I was 22, back in 1972. No bank would do this today. But we built for $12, 500 then, a plain but adequate 3 BR chalet looking house. Fast forward to 1999. New husband, same house. We wanted some changes, so we interviewed and submitted plans to several contractors. We chose one we had some knowledge of, and liked and who had good references. Bad choice. In 6 weeks, he had destroyed the house, we had major water damage, his proofs of insurance and workman's comp were fakes. We spent 2 years in court and got out with a building of studs and a roof, wrapped in plastic. It has been a long road, but I refused to pay off another mortgage. So I save and make an improvement, etc as we go along. I fear the 2nd floor will not ever be finished, but the 1st floor is set up for aging - all pocket doors on passages, all one level, all handicapped accessible plumbing, wide doorways, so we enjoy every final finish we achieve. DH picked the paint colors (that is scary, his fav color is fuchsia) But it is good. Well, actually great. Every change is an improvement. And we are shedding literally tons of stuff we don't need. All to the good.

14 days but I will most likely be at school before that getting our students' schedules finalized, helping with enrollment, and getting our rooms in order. We don't have a lot of time to work in our rooms before school starts. I also have lots of "organizing" and cleaning I want to do at home before I go back to school. I've let things pile up all school year and summer!

I believe in taking a positive attitude toward the world. My hope still is to leave the world a little bit better than when I got here.

11 days, tons of stuff to do. And yesterday I got another Jury summons. Great way to start the school year. However, the paintintg is all done, the new oak floor is down and done. Entertainment center is moved in and all connected, DH's recliner is moved in. The two go together. We've moved the dog crates, lots more room in the kitchen with the Ent. Center and recliner gone. Things are looking good on the home front. At last. And we now have a plan for re-doing the DR, maybe next summer, and Kitchen to follow. Goal is to be done before I retire.

My "new teacher" orientation starts in 11 days. I have 2 more days of summer school to teach, and work to do for the never-ending master's class from this summer semester before then.

Teachers officially return in 19 days, and students have 26 more days before they come back Aug 25. I am not ready for my summer to be over!

All paint is on. The pear green is very light (lighter than expected) and the feature wall is 2 shades darker, more the color we expected for the light walls. But it is done. And it is lovely. Such a nice job too. Starting the new floor already. It will take days to get all the furniture in and in place. New wiring in for the TV connection. It will be so nice to have TV out of kitchen as well as entertainment center out of kitchen too. And DH's recliner will move to LR. Yeah. I am so excited to get my kitchen back.

So right! The aide makes all the difference. I will have 2 that are fantastic and one that is ok. Not too bad.

No pain. Just so itchy. I have to have clothes, hall, bathroom and kitchen organized. I am not at my brightest in the morning, so I need a plan, like all clothes ready the night before, breakfast pre-planned or better, pre-made. Lunch ready to stuff in the bag. I am fine when I get to work, but I have a long drive to get awake and ready for the kids. Doubling class size this year, and lost my wonderful aide. Don;t know who I will have. That is worst.

I understand wanting to have things organized at home before school starts. I've been doing the same. It just makes things go smoother all around. Sounds like your remodeling project is moving right along. I certainly hope you don't have shingles! We're super hot and humid here too. Have been for days...

House is in chaos. Will be some better by tonight. Ceiling painted primer and 2 coats, walls primer and working on 1st coat. New sub floor is down, and new finish floor is on schedule for after dinner. It is Allure, all vinyl plank flooring, golden oak. We have this in BR and hall. Love it, I am not a carpet person. Essential to re-organize house before school starts. I can't go to work in this chaos. Plus I am either having a major allergic reaction or the beginnings of shingles. Dr. appt first of week. Too hot for this. Can;t wait to get in the water. Energy or not, I am swimming Sunday.

16 for me, August 15. That's when "new teacher" week begins, then a week of inservice, then the kids start on Aug. 29. I'm so ready, having been out of work since January!

But ILLINI is right, soon enough we'll all be asking "how many days until break?" emoticon

11 until an inservice day 13 until the first teacher work day and 17 until students start (counting weekends). I'm not quite ready yet, but I will be when the time arrives. I am looking forward to seeing how this class works together. I have 3 out of 12 returning from last year, and 2 siblings of last year's students so I will already know those families. That is helpful. Enjoy the rest of your summer team! The benefits of a routine will be here soon enough :)
