I couldn't do the P90X diet as given exactly because I craved more carbs, especially at least one piece of bread a day. Instead I use the SparkPeople Nutrition tracker to keep my calories right and my carb/protein/fat ratios in the healthy range. I find it let me lose weight at the rate of about a pound and a half to two pounds a week while on P90X and I met my weight loss goal in the time period I set.

Hi everyone, just finished week one of doubles, tomorrow is my rest day, and I feel great! This is my second time around, first was 2 years ago when I did classic. Im modifying a bit, I find the plyo hurts my knees with all the jumping, which is too bad cus I LOVED that one, so I do cardiox, jumo un my elliptical for an hour or go for a run that day. Curious to know who is following the nutrition guide and how it is working for them - Im a carboholic so having a hard time, any tips?

Welcome, ROBERT731! How are you enjoying P90X? I've completed the first two training blocks of Lean Strand and now have to take time off as I won't be able to commit to regular daily workout time to the degree demanded by P90X. Probably start up again in the fall. Good luck with your program. Don't forget to Huddle with this team as often as you can, and chime in on the discussion boards.

I love YogaX! It is my favorite workout of the week. Tomorrow will be YogaX for me and I can't wait. I hated it at first, but now that I am getting better at it, it is awesome!

Today is day 5, Legs and Back. I was wrong on my huddle. Last night was Yoga X, for personal reason I choose not to do Yoga X. However I went to the gym and did 50 on the Recumbent bike. Whew! Look forward to Kenpo X tomorrow.

At times, undereating can be put right up there with overeating. Just as your body will have a reaction to the over feeding of calories, your body will also have a reaction to the under feeding of calories. I also tend to have periods were I am just not hungry. I tend to stay around 1600 to 1800 calories a day. I view food as fuel, and nothing more. I look at my body as a machine, a type of vehicle. If I run my car hard, and don't give it very much gas.. I'm gonna have problems just as if I give it too much gas.. or bad gas.
Try looking at food as fuel for consumption, and gauge what you calorie requirements are. Then just fuel up enough, to cover those daily requirements.

I have been doing P90X Double for 3 complete weeks now. I feel amazing and for the first 2 weeks I lost a total of 14lbs. I'm still pushing hard and working out every morning and soon-to-be evening as well (in the meantime I walk 2.5 miles around the early evening hours)however, I don't eat hardly anything. My water consumption has went way down, my every 2 hour eating.. out the door, and my protein shakes.. nonexsistant. I maybe consume about 600 calories a day now. I'm afraid I'm gonna lose the muscle and tone I'm gaining because of it. Any suggestions on how to increase my appetite and water intake? I'm honestly just not hungry at all.

My workout week begins today with chest & back X, I love the fresh start to a workout week.. To go along with that I actually started to use the shakeology that I have had for a couple months. I had my reservations about it as I have my routine and like to stick to them. After a few days on the product I was seeing some really positive results and now believe that I will be making this a part of my routine. At a bodyfat percentage under 20% I was still able to get postive weight loss results without losing strength or muscle tone, that is something that I have never seen when I diet down to the weight I am at now.. this excites me.

NWOLFF - I recommend that you pay attention to how you look and feel, how you clothes fit, and changes in tape measurements as opposed to how much you weigh. Those really are the best indicators of success with a program like P90X. That is why part of the "plan" in the book includes a fit test to show improvement, page after page of body measurements and a place to put your before, during and after photos. THESE are the places you will likely see the largest changes. Good luck and enjoy the journey.

I love the plus.. Cardio Intervals Plus.. Kenpo Plus.. nice nice nice.. I rotate them in often..

Nwolff.. Sometimes it takes longer to get the changes happening.. could it be what you are eating, are you eating according to Michi's ladder or another eating program? Try to keep the food clean without lots of processed goods and sodium.. of course drink plenty of water..

Getting a bit frustrated, and would appreciate any insights. I have been doing Lean version of P90X consisently for five weeks. I have counted calories daily between 1500 and 1800. While I feel great, I have not lost a single pound. How is that possible?

There are three different plans you can go by:
1. Classic
2. Doubles
3. Lean
I am going by the lean plan but I think most people go by the classic in which case it goes a follows for weeks one through three.
Day 1 Chest and back, ab ripper x
Day 2 Plyometrics
Day 3 Shoulders and arms, ab ripper x
Day 4 Yoga X
Day 5 Legs and back, ab ripper x
Day 6 Kenpo x
Day 7 Rest or x stretch

"Decide what you want. Believe you can have it. Believe you deserve it and believe it's possible for you. And then close your eyes everyday for several minutes, and visualize having what you already want, feeling the feeling of already having it. come out of that and focus on what you're grateful for already and really enjoy it. Then go in to your day and release it to the universe and trust that the universe will figure out how to manifest it.

I LOVE Legs & Back! It's a grueling, sweaty, burn for 60 minutes. I love how cleverly it was put together too. Leg workout, leg workout, back, leg, leg, back...etc. It was definitely one of my favorites so far. I LOVE when you work your own body, and you burn, and you feel your muscles, and you push yourself til you're a grunting, groaning, trembling mess, and then that one is finished, and you move on to the next 'event'. Love it! I have to say, I really need to work on the balance part. LOL. I think after I've been doing this for a while, that will just come naturally. And I'm totally serious when I tell you that I NEED THAT! The very first exercise had me fighting for balance...maybe I'll get strong ankles from it. Yay! Every woman needs strong ankles to go with those killer legs, and hot shoes....and that's going to me ME one day...yah baby!

SpitfireY you will certainly love the results you get from P90X. I have been using it since January of this year and can say I am in the best shape of my life. This is after being involved in weight lifting for over 20 years. Good luck and best wishes. JJ

Hey guys. Happy to be here. I am on my very first round of P90X, and today is day 3. I'm doing the P90X Classic.
Monday morning I did the fit test, 40 minutes worth of exercise. Since I did well on it, I decided to start P90X Monday night. My hubby drove an hour and a half out of his way after work to buy me a piece of equipment that I need to do this. isn't that lovely of him XO. Then we ate supper, and he installed it. It's a pull up bar, but it has a beginner mode, where you place both your feet on either side of the door, lean back and then do your pull ups. So I did that workout. It was 54 minutes. KILLER, and AWESOME! 94 minutes of exercise total that day. Tuesday, I did P90X Plyometrics. OH WOW! I was DEAD. But I thoroughly loved every single minute of that hour long workout. Since Friday, I've lost another 3.5 pounds, and I feel fantastic! If you want to follow along with my workouts, I've posted them on my blog...the link is below.

Hello everyone, I am just returning to spark after a hiatus. I completed my first round of P90X in April 09 classic version. After that I completed a full round of ChaLEAN and now am in my 5th week of another classic round of P90X.

I am loving insanity, but I'm a little crazy. I'm burning 150 cals in just the warm up and that's only 7-8 minutes. My heartrate has reached over 200 but I haven't been nauseous yet. I'm in my 3rd week and I can already see changes. Find that job quick so you can get on the bandwagon!

I am in the recovery week of phase II and my second week of insanity. 1200 cals is to low. It is just the minimum someone should eat without exercising. I know what it feels like when you don't see any weight loss but with p90x you will gain muscle. My SP gives me a range of 1200-1550. I eat @ 1550 when I have 2 or 3 workouts a day and 1300 on days I only have 1. I burn between 600-800 cals a day and I'm telling you. This next phase i'm eating 1700 cals otherwise I won't be able to push myself.

yeah I am kinda in the same boat. I am eating 2500 a day with a diet of 40% protein, trying to cut off the last 5-10 lbs of fat, but its a fine line when your body senses its not getting enough calories and goes into self preservation mode and starts storing fat. What I find works best is REALLY changing it up on yourself. Take like 3 days out of the week and throw in some interval training, some swimming, some high cardio biking, or weight training. I also will take a week off too...and eat low cal...and then the first week back in...stuff my face and workout hard....just kinda really throwing my body off yields some good results. Man 1200...calories...I am starving just thinking about that...LOL

I know it sounds low but i wasn't losing any weight and this has been the only thing that has been working for me. I am hungry but i only have 22lbs. to go. So it won't be this low forever. Thanks for your advice, if this starts to feel bad I will change it to about 1400-1500cal. I did 1400 before and i didn't lose any weight. I wil;l try it again if I need.

1200 calories PLUS all that extra cardio...that sounds pretty low. I would be consuming at least 1500. Calorie intake should increase as the level of exercise increases to fuel yourself. It sounds counter intuitive, but it works...of course they cant be calories from twinkies =)

Wed. I start the finally week in phase 2. Yes, I have one more month to go. I have been doing some cardio extra from the P90X but I haven't been seeing any weightloss, so this week I have started to hit cardio big time, running, Eliptical, walking, and biking. I also crunched on the calorie intake. 1200 I better see results now. LOL I have tried so many other things and I haven't tried this, so here I go.

LOL...wow, that is nuts. I usually take a 5 mile run and then my workout after that, and then I sometimes try to throw in Ab Ripper X after that, and most times, that Ab Ripper is LESS than a good workout..LOL...just too tired to push it by then.

Ashley - You can track P90x by creating custom workouts and adding the exercises listed, then once you enter it the first time you can just select it anytime from there on out. You can be safe to calculate your average P90X workout as a 500 calorie burn. Beachbody estimates 600 calories, so you should be safe at 500. OF course this all depends on the intensity at which you work out =)

I have been doing P90X since October or November and still have lots of room to improve but every time I repeat a DVD I am so amazed at how much stronger I am. I get oodles of compliments on my arms and the change in my shape. I haven't lost any pounds lately but am losing inches. I love P90X.

I am training for a triathlon in July. My plan is to alter the program so that I'm doing the dvds on the days I'm not running, biking or swimming.

I really just started and I don't have a ton of time, so my program is not anywhere close to what everyone else here is doing. But, I'm trying to get 2-3 dvds in a week, plus ab ripper x, plus a 2-3 days running or biking. In April, I will have to step up my game with the actually triathlon training, but for now, I'm using the P90X to get my body toned and ready for the actual training.

Is anyone doing doubles?? I need to start running again to train for a race I'm doing in May and thought the best way to integrate it would be to put myself on the "doubles" program and run on the days you are suppose to do cardio x. Any suggestions from ppl that may already be doing this.

So yesterday was day one for me, I'm doing the classic version. I really hope that by the end of this I'll be able to do some pull-ups without the chair :). I'm also following the nutrition program (though it's tough since I'm vegan) However, for those of you who are either vegan like me or have allergies I used trueprotein.com to custom blend my own recovery drink as close to the p90 one. I'm really looking forward to seeing if this will really work for me!!

Hi, I didnt really loose any weight either but try to keep going. Usually after the 6th week you will see more results. My measurements are different. Concetrate on the measurements not on the scale. It is true that the muscle weighs more than the fat. I didnt gain any weight but the scale moves slowly because you are building more muscle. I can also eat alot more without gaining.
Stick with it. I am starting this program over (again)

I did the whole lean program a while ago. People are still commenting on my arms.
I am also going to Re-start the regular version today March 1. I attempted it a couple other times but things that were going on only allowed me to work out 3-5 times a week. I am going to start all over and follow the diet too. I eat out quite a but have learned what to eye things at. This is a great program. I am hoping to loose a few more inches for summer. LOVE it

I still haven't lost any weight after almost 8 weeks...but....my shape is more defined, my measurements have changed, my "fat" rolls appear smaller and almost feel "detached" from the layer of muscle underneath! I am also stronger. I am happy with my progress so far. I know when Spring hits and I can hit the road on my bicycle..the extra cardio will just erase the flab and totally emphasize the new and stronger definition I am getting.

Believe in yourself! annbradley/itworks.net

Hi Everyone, my wife and I are planning to start the P90x program soon. I travel for business, how does one deal with having to break the prescribed routine due to travel?

Hey everyone! :) Hope you all had a GREAT weekend! I started Phase 2 today. I realize today is 'rest' day, but I'm not going to be able to fit a workout in tomorrow, so I did it today. I LOVE this program.
I am looking forward to finishing this 90 days and starting another! :)
I am disappointed tho that I have not lost any weight ...NONE... in the last month. :( Should I be worried? I know part of my struggle has been lack of eating enough... so I'm working on that part. Does anyone have any other suggestions to "jump start" some shedding of pounds??
