I have never been able to do a regulation pushup, let alone 100. That's why I'm doing this--to prove that I can.

To improve my strength, help stay active, and keep from getting bingo wings! Also, just to say I CAN.

I'm doing it to improve my upper body strength. I've pretty much always had weak arms, and that really annoys me. No more! Plus, strong arms are sexy.
edit: oh yeah, I'm only doing the pushups for now. We'll see about some of the other stuff later, but I do have my sights on the pullups eventually.

Partly because I want to work on my upper body strength, partly because I was looking for a personal challenge to work on and partly because I've never been able to do "real" pushups before. Looking forward to this challenge.

I like programs that are constantly showing me how much better at something I am getting :-) I am doing the pushups first becaues my upper body strength is atrocious. I like having a set plan of action. It is easier for me to stick too and it will add a little something something to my regular strength training routine.

I read about it in an article on this site and I love challenges. Also, it might help me to my goal of looking like Sarah Connor from Terminator 2.

The fame, the money, the glory, the guys.... Ok fine I just want to pride of knowing that I can do them. Upper body strength is a weakness of mine and I want to try to improve that. This gives me goals to work for, and I intend to use them.

I'm doing this because 1) my upper body strength is horrid 2) I can do this without any equipment 3) I've never been able to do pushups 4) all through my public school days, was the uncoordinated out of shape joke of the gym. I got to the point where I turned that into being the bad girl who had a bad attitude to cover the fact that i couldn't do it. I would stand in the middle of the volleyball court with my arms crossed until the gym teacher pulled me off. I want to prove to myself that I can do these things.
"I can speak so softly because I have so much power." "I am woman, hear me roar."
I'm doing it because I think it would be awesome to be able to!!! Not to mention, I started last year, but didn't complete it. I kept having problems with my hand. But I really want to make it. Even with not finishing the program, I had a few people impressed and almost did as many as my brother who is almost 10 years younger and in great shape. I want to beat him!!!! Then I can gloat a bit. LOL

I'm doing this because I need a strength program I can do with relative ease (as in do not need a lot of equipment to do and not a lot of preparation for so I can just roll out of bed and start basically!). I'm also doing it because while in the Marine Corps we didn't use weights and whatnots but yet we surely got strong and toned (of course we carried packs and rifles too but for the most part we did body weight exercises). If it's good enough for the Marine Corps then it's good enough for me ... and I'm trying to back in Marine Corps condition. That's the long and short of it for me.

I am doing the 100 push up challenge. I started doing the C25K awhile back, and noticed I responded strongly to having a well structured work out routine. I want to increase my upper body fitness and eventually will work on my core with the 200 sit-up and squat challenge, but I don't want to burn myself out doing too much at once. Doing push-ups are easy as far as equipment, and if I can't make it to the gym I can do them at home on the exercise mat I have.
I'm trying to get my sister into this so we can do it together and check up on each other. She lives 7 hours away and needs SOME exercise in her life, and I think it would be a good place for her to start, and for us to do something together even though we're not in the same place :)

I'm starting the pushups, situps and squats (oh my!) because I know my body responds well to strength training but I haven't been doing any on a consistent basis. Since I can't afford a gym membership, I love that this program is progressive but simple.

I am starting because I want a stronger upper body and to improve my overall fitness but I lack a plan. This is a simple doable plan and I think I can do it if I stick with it. Also I think it would be really bad ass. I would totally make a video and tell everyone I had accomplished this and be totally unbearably annoying because it would be awesome.
I have not started yet just did the test, but I will Saturday so wish me luck.

I am doing the 100 pushup, today is my first day. I am doing it because about 1 year ago, my husband challenged me to one pushup and I couldn't do it. I am proud to say that now I can do 15 straight. So I am hoping this will strengthen my upper body. I would also like to see just how many I will be able to do.
Once I complete this I will try to 25 pull up challenge, because I cannot do 1 as of today.
People may doubt what you say, but they will believe what you do!

Yeah, I just started it so I can could say I'd done it. It'd be nice if stronger triceps made my batwings go away, but my genes seem to like plump upper arms and thighs and scrawny calves/ torso.

I'm doing pushups, sit-ups and squats. (Would like to try pull-ups, but no place to put a bar right now.) I've been having knee problems since my last baby, and was told low-impact strengthening would help. I figured it wouldn't hurt to work on other areas while I'm at it! Following a program appeals to me more than randomly exercising, and it keeps me motivated to watch the number of reps I can do go up. I'll be starting week 5 tomorrow!

Just curious about which program everyone is doing (push ups, sit ups, squats) and what your motivation for doing it is?
I am doing the 100 push up challenge and the 200 sit up challenge.
Partly because I was just looking for something to spice up my strength training routine, but mainly because my husband didn't think I could! I am far to competitive to turn down a challenge!
What about you?
