i just got my new used treadmill about a week ago, and have been going for 20-30 min, but after reading all this, perhaps i could stretch to 40... or 60... you guys are hardcore.

but to be clear, it looks like you guys go for a long time at lower intensity?

I've been eating just under 2,000 calories a day, although SP says I can eat up to 2300. I'm starting cardio at 30 minutes on a treadmill, 6 days a week, and increasing by 5 minutes each week. My goal is to get up to 60 minutes per day, or 360 per week.

My exercise physiologist tells me to do cardio for at least 45 mins and I usually do between that and 90 mins.

I eat a world of a lot of veggies, upwards of 20 servings of them in a day and since veggies in general are low calorie, but high carb it means I don't consume a lot of calories to start with thanks to them.

I also take in upwards of 200 oz of water a day .. yes its a little over load for most people, but it seems to work for me in general.

However, there is a way for me to go higher, its called drink 60 oz of 1% milk that will get in close to 2000 or so in a day ... but I try not to get that much milk in a day because I don't need the calcium overload that I use to do in my youth, and I don't want to consume the extra fat or sat fats that are part of milk to start with.

no i'm not eating in the cal range SP says I should .. because its next to impossible to eat that high for me with all my food restrictions that I do have to contend with i'm lucky if i can hit 1600 in a day never mind the 2100+ that sps says I should be eating.

weight loss for me is 2 pounds a month average, likely all because of my lack of ability to eat higher calories, to many foods out there have soy, nuts or the like in them for me to be able to even touch never mind consume.

NYWOLF, let's just hope you are eating enough calories to lose the weight properly with you working out close to 6 hours a day!

(I personally think that's stuff that only the Biggest Loser and the help of close medical supervision should do)

It is a good start and don't worry if that is all the time you have for that day, but yes push for a little more each week, maybe run 30 and at a incline for some part of it, small changes can make a big change, it all takes time and hard work. good luck

to me thats not even close to enough time working out, but thats me .. i'll hit the treadmill for 65 minutes on a 5 to 15 % incline (hil mode) at 3.5 to 4 mph

then hit the ellipitcle for 20 minutes, then the rower for another 20 minutes, might hit hte bike for the last 20 mintes then hit the weight for for 60 minutes doing one day upper and core then next lower and core. total time at the gym 2 to 3 hours average not including change room time. and not including walking o and from the gym, nor walking the dog three times a day for 45 min each time.

I say do what works for you, and build on it till you can do more

YOur target heart rate should be stable as you can get it to help burn those calories. IF you are runnning and your heart rate is going too ofast, you may not be burning as many calories. Just something to keep in mind.

Also you are just getting your body warmed up in 20 - 30 minutes then you stop. NO you should challenge yourself to do more add a bit more say every two weeks or sooner. The more consistant to the time you do your body will adapt to that and you will know to step it up more... Hey stride for the goal you can do it DONT give up!!...Team leader Chris

Don't put too much emphasis on "fat burning zone" vs. "cardio zone". The more intense your workout is the more calories and the more fat you will burn. So, workout in the zone that is comfortable for you but don't intentionally lower your intensity thinking that it is better for fat loss.

I usually use the elliptical between 20-30 mintues on the fat burning mode and I usually run for about 10-15 mintues. Is that enough exercise for a day's workout?
