I love my Omron. I enjoy the accuracy and convenience. I do use the leash that comes with it. I have nearly lost mine several times. I have tried several different ones and some are quite expensive. I like the Omron the best.
I have owned a FitBit and know several others that have. It is a fun item and there is a new one out as well. This new one uses a watch battery which is more expensive to replace than the Omron 3032 battery. The regular Fitbit is fun to use and is lightweight and easy to use. The disadvantage of this one is that everyone I know has replaced it at least once. The device cracks and has to be placed on the charger. The charge eventually quits working and it becomes useless. It costs twice what the Omron costs and I'm not into plunking down $100 or so every few months for a pedometer.

Awesome Laurie - thanks for the info, I have heard great things about the Omrons and it's good to know they have a less bulky model! As for jumping in the pool with it on, that's totally something I would do!! lol. Thanks for the info!
Don't be afraid to sweat it out....sweat is just your fat crying!
I have an Omron HJ-321 right now and really like it because it has a seven day memory and it is small. I can clip it on my waist band or carry it in pocket or purse. My previous one was an Omron as well and was quite a bit larger but still worked very well (until I clipped on my swimsuit and forgot about it when I jumped in the pool)
