I've had a good productive day, although I never get everything done that I think I should get done. What I'm happy about: I cleaned out the spare room so that I can exercise in there. I plan to get on the treadmill every morning and do strength training four days per week. Now I have no excuses!

Just dropping in to say hello. I woke up early and read for a couple of hours. Had a nice cup of coffee and then made breakfast for "the boys", my husband and youngest son. They love it when I cook for them! I'm all about relaxing and breathing deeply today. See you all tomorrow!

Angie thanks for sharing that you also ate the whole box of Fiber One brownies. Makes me feel better to know I am not the only one because I did it again yesterday afternoon.

I am under so much stress with hubby being in the hospital and I had a really bad visit with him yesterday. They were to do a processor that the doctor was to come talk to us about but he never came and it was not done. They said maybe the next day witch is today. I will go out there this afternoon and never know what will be going on next. It is very stressful.

Positive quote-I will not be discouraged by one bad day, I will just get right back on track.

TURTLE, I've done that with the Fiber One brownies too! I know I'll pay for it later if I eat more than one at a time. Hahahaha!

Good morning. The sky looks like we might get some more rain, yesterday we had a good steady, downpour. Will be heading off to church soon. I hope I can get in to see my doctor tomorrow for this rash.

My sis (Eleanor) called last night, her DH (Jake) had a bad week, the hospice nurses came and they gave her some liquid morphine to give him, I am afraid he's getting closer to leaving us, told her we'd get over to see them this week.

I did weigh in on Sat. and had dropped 2 of the 3 lbs. I had put back on, that made me happy. This week hasn't been good on the exercising due to not feeling well and haven't done as good on getting my water in. Things to work on this week.

Kathryn emoticon on dropping those 3 lbs. Glad the diets you are following are working for you. Keep up the good work.

Nancy, steak and green beans sound good to me.

Wishing all a blessed & Serene Sunday!

Good Morning Sparkies...

Wanda - So nice to hear that you had a nice visit with Lauren and the kids. (Congrats on her job too) Even nicer that you made that spicy Salsa and shared it with her. hehehe Sounds yummy. I'm glad you were able to harvest enough tomatoes to make that salsa. Your weather sounds like ours right now. Rain coming from the tropical storms out there. But I don't mind it as it cools things for us.
Keeping You and Garry in my prayers that he finds a great job.
Enjoy your Sunday.

Shirl - So sorry that you still have that rash. I'm glad you will see the doctor about it since it's not going away. ((hugs))
That concert sounded great. So nice that they have those for everyone to enjoy.
Now gotta tell you... My DD Rachael who lives in Indiana, said they had just got back from a trip to Battle Creek MI to get some items her brother had won in an auction. I think it was about the same day you were there. hehehe Just thought that was something... hehehe
Feel better my friend.

Kathryn - Congrats on the scale going down. Glad that book is helping you with the snacks. I'm doing a lot better as well. Nice that you have a plan to help you stay on track.

Nancy J... Bummer you didn't get to the farmers market in time... But great that you had a nice talk with your sister. Keep up sharing with us. We miss you when you are gone. lol

Yesterday I did good and got my pond filter cleaned out. Went out early before the sun was over the house. So had some shade to work in. Then started cleaning the area a little cut back a few plants that were out of control and such. Before I knew it I had been out there for almost 2 hours. hehehe And yes hot and sweaty... So got me a nice shower and stayed in the ac the rest of the day. hehehe Also got in a recumbent bike ride so that was good too.

Today I'm going to try to give my little Keno a hair cut. Get her all prettied up for her 10th birthday which is in Tuesday. She will be 10.

Have a great day everyone...

Just came for the update. Glad to see everyone. Farmer's Market was picked over by the time I got there. BUT, I was late because my sister called and we had a nice long visit. I got a grass fed flank steak, some green beans and some fresh basil, so it wasn't a complete bust. (I was hoping to get some fresh eggs, but they go quickly)

Have a great day. And thanks for bringing all the positive vibes to the chat!

Scale my friend again, down 3 pounds. I love the No S Diet, it is working for me. I wrote out a chore list of things that really need to be done around the house that I have been lax on. Now when I am bored and want to snack, I do a chore. No Snacking on this diet. I have found that I am not hungry at the usual snack times I had. It had just become a habit. Eating just one 9 inch plate of food, not piled high is enough for a meal. I can eat any thing I want except sweets during the week. Today I can have sweets and I bought 5 chocolates at the candy store to have today. I also have a box of Fiber One brownies that I have sternly told myself not to eat the whole box and binge.
Today quote really speaks to me

Good morning. It's a damp, wet one here. We went to the store this morning, wanted to pick up some easy things to fix for meals as I have struggled this week with not feeling well and not feeling like cooking. The rash has gotten worse so Mon. will be calling my doctor as obviously it's not going away on it's own, I've been taking allergy pills but they only help with the itchy eyes they don't do a thing for the rash. Yesterday was a good day for going for DH's lab work.

The last concert was great, the group was called The Chain, they did songs from the 70's & 80's, the last half of the show they did a tribute to Fleetwood Mac.

I read through all the Friday & Sat. post, but will have trouble remembering who said what.

Wanda glad you got to visit with Lauren and the kids and congratulations to her for her new job, glad to hear Quin's job is working out ok. Prayers that something different and better will turn up for Garry.

Kathy good job on selling your blanket and getting rid of the boot.

Kathryn speaking of pears I just brought 3 home, DH really likes them and I do too, sorry they don't like you. Ours will need to sit on the counter till they ripen. Did they ever figure out where Ron is losing the blood from?

Donna enjoy all that family time this weekend.

Nancy hope you found some good buys at the farmer's market.

Welcome to the new lady from Australia, sorry the name slipped away. Your painting is very colorful.

Mauri, William, Carole and anyone else that might pop in, have a great Sat. and remember to find some laughter in your day.

Hugs,

Good Morning everyone,

Happy Saturday...find some fun and laughter in your day.

Kathryn...way to go on the sorting out of things. It's great when we can pass along items to others than we don't have a use for anymore. I need to go through all my kitchen stuff and see if the girls and Lauren might want any of it. If they don't then I will either donate or perhaps have a garage sale next spring. Time to get things cleared out and create some new energy in the house. Have a great day.

Kathy...Woo Hoo on your first sale of a baby blanket. I'm surprised that you let it go for so little, in Canada anyway it would have been min $35.00 and upwards of $45.00. I know who to see if I ever need one hahaha. So glad she was pleased with it though and I know you had fun making it. Costco has Christmas stuff out in the store, so I guess it's time to start thinking about Christmas gifts etc. I think we might try and go to Garry's Mom's for Christmas this year. Means leaving the kids, but we can always celebrate Ukrainian Christmas together.
Christmas will be mostly homemade again this year. Have fun learning the new crochet stitch, I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of all your new projects.

Nancy...Good luck at the Farmers Market. Nothing like nice fresh produce to create healthy meals with. I managed to get enough tomatoes yesterday to make a small batch of spicy salsa. Got to use up some of my ripe peppers and onions from the garden along with the tomatoes. This batch turned out super. Nice and thick, just the way we love it. I am thinking I will have to get out in the rain and dig up all my potatoes and onions today though as the ground is just far too wet. They are beginning to rot. May have to pick my tomatoes this weekend or during the week if we don't get some sunshine. The forecast is calling for rain everyday through out the next few days. So frustrating, but Mother Nature is going to do what she wants, we just have to adjust.

Shirl...hope you are doing ok. Thinking about you and keeping you in my prayers. Hugs.

It was so nice to have a visit with Lauren and the children yesterday. Such a nice surprise. I was able to send her home with some spicy salsa. While she was here, she got a phone call to say that she got a job. She starts on Monday. So thrilled for her. Her Mom is going to mind the kids, then when they start school in a few days, they will be in school and pre-school for most of the day while she is at work. Sure going to help them out financially. Quin has a great job now (thank you Lord). He works on a 2 weeks in and 1 week out schedule. The first time that he has had an actual schedule that is kept to.
Garry is still looking for another job. He is presently working at his old job, but each day is faced with the question "is the the day that will be his last". The management changes as quickly as changing ones socks. They now have a new general manager that Garry says is "going to make his mark on the world and show everyone how to run a dealership". He is pretty ruthless and has been cutting staff and commissions left right and center. In the meantime, Garry keeps looking for a different job without letting them know that he is. Stress levels are a little elevated around here *grin*.
We are blessed though to have what we have and will make it work somehow.

Have a great and wonderful Saturday.

Hugs,
Wanda

Good Morning Kathy. You are the early bird today!
I was watching Saturday morning crafty TV on PBS a few weeks back and they were demonstrating the crocodile stitch. It is a neat one. I'm sure you'll master it without too much trouble! Hope the truck holds out.

I look forward to hearing about how everyone's day is going. I am off to the Farmer's market to see what treasures I can find. I'll check in later.

Good Morning Sparkies...

Happy Saturday to one and all...

Kathryn - Good luck with your sorting. You and Nancy have sorting and reading in common. hehehe But the plumbing problem sounds like you need to slow down on them pears. hehehe emoticon emoticon

Nancy - It's great that you like to read like Wanda and Kathryn... I know I should do some reading as well but just never got into it. Besides it will take away from my creative projects. hehehe

Shirl - How is that rash? Hope you are feeling better today. Were you able to get to get DH's labs? Hope you both are feeling better today.

Wanda - Hope you have lots of sunshine today for them Tomatoes to ripen. I picked 3 off my poor plant and let them finish ripening in the window. They were so small and had strange growths on them... But I cut them in half and ate the good parts. hehehe Yum We are taking cuttings off the good parts of the tow plants. And they are growing in the pots. hehehe So hope that we can get more tomatoes... I'll keep you posted.
Love that Lauren is coming for a visit today. Hope they are doing well now. Is Quinn working full time? How about Garry? Is he still looking for another job? Prayers for them both.
Enjoy your visit.

Thanks for the nice comments about my crocheting projects everyone...
I need to get to work on some Christmas ornaments. A lady at PT wanted some. Oh and I finally met up with the lady at the Post office and she loved the deer blanket I made and bought it! Woo hoo... My first sale. Got $20 for it. Not bad huh?
I've got so many things on my list I don't know what to start on first. lol I have been wanting to learn a new stitch called the Crocodile stitch. And I want to make a Christmas tree with it. So may start on that one today. It looks hard but I won't let that stop me. hehehe I love learning new stitches.

I need to clean my pond filter. Can't see the fish... hehehe But it's so hot out there I hate to go out. hehehe But need to get that done today.
Oh and Andy went to the beach house yesterday and had problems with the truck on the way over. So if he can't fix that I may have to drive over to get him. Sure hope he gets it fixed.

Have a great day everyone... (((HUGS)))

I forgot today is Friday, doing THE HAPPY FRIDAY DANCE emoticon

Up so early been hitting my chore list. One thing was to sort out my reusable bags and get rid of the ones that are not really special. I have four big bags full and am giving away three. I have already put one out by the front door to our apartment and some one has taken it. Just put an other out, such fun. I love giving things away even if I don't really know who they are going too.

My plumbing is all stopped up really bad again and I figured out how come this is happening again. I am eating fresh pears. This happens every pear season. I love pears but they don't love me. I put 3 big ones on the window still by my apartment front door and they are gone all ready. Will not make this mistake next year.

Good Morning Team.
Happy Friday to all! I have had a nice quiet morning of reading. I have 2 books from the library that need to be returned on September 1st, so I have to make an effort to get them read. "Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children" and "The Light Between Oceans". Both books are being released as movies in September. I am halfway through "Miss Peregrine..." It is well written and enjoyable. Doing well with my plan. Dipped below 200 this morning. Very encouraging.

Kathryn, you're like me. We are always reading for information! Not a bad hobby. Plenty of helpful information out there. Keep up the good work.

Wendy, welcome. Your painting touched a creative nerve and made it twinge! Artistic pursuits are so helpful in the journey to our healthy best. Beautiful. I'll see if I can't create something today as well. Even if it's just a beautiful plate of healthy and delicious food that looks like a painting!

Kathy, speaking of creating, I love seeing photos of your creative pursuits as well. Prayers for a healthy foot are coming your way.

Shirl, hope your trip to Battle Creek went well and DH has some great results in his labs. And hope your rash has subsided. Looking forward to your concert report.

Donna, let me assume you are having a blast with company!

Wanda, Friday off! What a blessing! Still praying for those tomatoes. Canning. Another creative pursuit! I hope that you can share a photo of all those beautiful cans of your handiwork at some point. Wonderful healthy goodness!

Here's wishing all a blessed weekend. Thanks for sharing your healthy and positive pursuits!

~Nancy~

Good Morning all,

It's my Friday off and I'm going to enjoy it! The rain has let up for today (or at least for this hour *grin*). Some sunshine peeking out, so I'm being hopefully.

Lauren texted me yesterday to say that she and the grandkids are going to be at her sisters in town this weekend and wanted to know if we would be available for some visiting. Ummm, YES.
What a lovely surprise way to start off my weekend.

Wendy...welcome to the chit chat lounge. How fun that you are able to express your creativeness with painting. I love the colors. Thank you for sharing your picture with us. I'm thinking that you are probably winding down your day just as I am beginning mine *grin*. If you have any questions, feel free to ask as some of us have been here awhile and know each other fairly well. We don't want to leave you out of any conversations.

Kathryn...I will have to look up your book to see if we have it in our library. It sounds like a great book. Glad to hear that you are finding it useful at quieting that naggy little voice that we all do battle with. Is Ron back at the care facility or still in hospital?

Kathy...Yay on losing the boot! Hopefully you don't overdo it and re-injure your foot. What are you working on for a crochet project now? I'm heading out to the garden in a bit to see how my tomatoes are doing. If the sun is going to shine today I will leave them on the vine. I do need to pull my onions though and might have to do the rest of the potatoes this weekend as the ground is so wet that they are going to rot. I'm thinking if I can't do anything with the tomatoes, then I will start on making veggie soup to can. I love homemade soup and it's so nice to just go and grab a jar to heat up for a quick meal. At least I know it's not full of chemicals. Have a great Friday.

Donna...have fun this weekend with Cove and with your daughter and her boyfriend.

Shirl...how was the last concert of the year? Who was playing this time. Hope your rash is getting better and that it hasn't gotten worse. Did Clenton get for his lab work? Thinking of you both. Hugs.

Mauri...keeping you and your family in Italy in my prayers. Hugs.

Time for me to get myself moving. I have one load of laundry on the go, but floors need doing and the garden needs some attention. Have a great day all,
Hugs,
Wanda

Good morning Sparkies...

Hi Wendy and welcome to the chit chat... Love your painting. I have always wanted to paint. Just never got to it YET! hehehe So it's cold where you are? I'm in Florida, USA and it's HOT HOT HOT! Oh and Humid. hehehe

Shirl - Sorry you were not feeling good. Hope things improve for you today. If you still have that rash Benadryl may help. But it will make you sleepy. Hope you feel up to making that trip for Clenton's labs did you say? UGH CRS! hehehe

Donna - I envy your weekend with your DD and cove. Does your DD have kids too? Can't wait for pic's of your weekend. Oh and happy for you that you don't have them hot flashes. I had been on the meds forever but after months of suffering happy to go back on it. Hope it starts working soon. lol

Wanda - You out picking them green tomatoes? Hope some have ripened so you can get some salsa made. Enjoy your weekend.

Kathryn - WTG on your binge eating... that is awesome!

I feel better today. Yesterday was not a good day. Lots of pain. I ended up going to bed like 9:30 which is way early for me. But was up early got showered and ran up to get my labs done. I have an appt with the PC next week. So all ready for that visit.
I'm out of my boot now... testing the pain. So far so good. hehehe

Thankful that the storm that was headed towards Florida hit Cuba and their mountains tore it apart. We may still get some rain but nothing serious.

Have a great day everyone...

The book THIN FROM WITHIN is really helping with the "chatter" that goes on in my mind after dinner when I falsely think I need an evening snack binge. Snacking had been my down fall for most of my life. It was a big thing while growing up. Every holiday we had a special big bowl of chips and dip that we would sit around and gorge on. Also very often my mom would binge on mini candy bars or a big can of mixed nuts. She would let us kids have a tiny bit of this, just enough to make us want more. I was brought up to believe binging was a right of an adult. No wonder I was in the grip of binges. I am doing very good right now with not having had one for 11 days.

Nice painting

My eye doctor's appointment went well. Nothing wrong with me but old age and nearsightedness causing a lot of floaters. They will break down and float below my line of sight some day, but right now they are a bother. They are only in my left eye and I still have with glasses 20/20 vision emoticon

I have problem with stress eating and night time snacking. I put a vision board on my frig with a list of things to do instead of eating. It also has photos of a much fatter me. My therapist all so suggested I put a picture of what I was aiming for body wise. Most photos in mag are so photo shopped but the one in Shape mag don't seem to be. I found a nice goal photo and added it to my vision board today.

I love to read self help books and found a new one at the library yesterday. It is a self-coaching program for permanent weight loss. It is called THIN FROM WITHIN by Joseph J. Luciani PH.D/ It is very insightful and got me over a bout of just wanted to snack on the fresh bagels I had bought yesterday for Saturday's breakfast.

My NO-S-Diet is going well and I am eating as planned without any binges for 10 days now. As long as I keep my mind off stress eating and use the things I have learned from Dr. Luciani and my vision board I will be okay.

Okay that turned in to a blog I guess I will copy and use in a blog.

I've had a lovely and productive day with my sorting. Today is fasting day, so I really get a lot done without having to stop to eat. I'm not hungry either. It's a funny thing. I've got one desk almost sorted and another one half sorted. My laundry is put away, the kitchen is clean and ready for dinner prep. And I have good energy. I am delighted that I am finally beginning to feel like my old "normal" self. I haven't felt like this in about 9 months. I could not be more encouraged!

Shirl,
I hope your concert doesn't get rained out tonight.

Kathy,
I want to see that blanket on you!

Donna,
Enjoy your company

Wanda, still praying for your tomatoes. Here's a link you might enjoy www.culturesforhealth.com/learn/reci

Kathryn,
I noticed you have posted a blog. I'm going over there to check it out next.

Mauri, I was glad you stopped by my page. I'll be over for a visit.

Have a wonderful evening and I look forward to catching up with you all tomorrow

Happy Friday eve! We got a little bit of rain last night, but not much. It cooled things off, but itíll be warm and humid today. Expecting high 80s, so weíll see. Iím still grateful for every drop we get!

Iím getting ready for my daughter and her boyfriend, and my grandson, to visit this weekend. Itís been too long since my sweet girl has been able to spend the whole weekend with us, and it sounds as if she hasnít packed a lot of plans with friends into the time, so weíll get to enjoy the kids. Have to hit the grocery store tomorrow before I leave to meet Coveís mommy. Canít wait! Iíll have to share some photos; heís getting so BIG!

Shirl, those inspections are a pain in the neck, arenít they? Glad youíre getting a little cool weather.
What kind of music tonight for the concert? I hope youíre feeling better soon.

Kathy, I hope the HRT gives you some relief. I recently went off mine and havenít had much trouble with hot flashes, mood swings, etc. Fingers crossed I donít.
It is nice to have Cove close enough to see often, and theyíre moving even closer before the end of the year! Canít wait!

Wanda, I hope yíall get some relief from the rain soon. You need some sunshine and dry-out days! Thank goodness the river isnít a threat to you!

Nancy, how is the sorting coming along?

Kathryn, Iíve also been sending prayers for you and your hubby. Progress?

Yíall have a great day today!

Good morning. We had rain turning the night and some this morning, suppose to get more later this afternoon. Maybe the last concert will have to be inside tonight. Our fall like weather left us and we're are back to hot & humid. No tidying up got done yesterday, wasn't feeling well and slept the afternoon away, I broke out with a rash on Monday, have no idea what caused it, haven't gone to the doc as I am hoping it'll just go away.

I still don't feel to perky today, but got the breakfast dishes done and the kitchen and bathroom floors mopped. Don't know if we'll get inspected today or tomorrow, we won't be here in the morning as he needs to get his lab work done first thing in the morning so he can eat so we'll be over at Battle Creek VA.

Wishing all a great Thursday!

Hugs,
Shirl

Good Morning Sparkies...

Wanda - You are right if it's getting cold and may frost you need to pick them tomatoes. I just picked 3 off my poor plant and have let them ripen in the sunny window. Just hope they taste good. I may eat them as a snack today. They are so little. Poor sick plants. Oh well I tried.
I think that Mother nature has switched things around and you got all our rain and we are getting all your sun and ours. hehehe

Unfortunately, looks like we will get lots of rain this weekend. I am hoping that this storm headed towards us does not turn into a hurricane but it might. As always it's a waiting game to see how bad they get. On the plus side we are in the middle of the state and usually these storms don't hit us as bad as on the coast.

Shirl - How is Margret feeling? Is she back to walking with you now?

Nancy - did you enjoy your "me" day the other day? Deep breaths before tackling that sorting. You can do it!

Kathryn - Sending prayers for you and Ron. Sure hope they can figure out what is going on with him. You need a dr to find that bleeder. ((HUGS))

Today is my day of not having to go go go. I'm so thankful for that. So heading to do my chair exercises and hoping to get to the bike today too.
Wanda - I do try to do 1 lb at a time. If I looked at the big picture I'd never get started on the journey. So thanks for reminding me to keep looking at the smaller pic. All my mindless eating is at night. It's so frustrating. As I'm going for it I'm telling myself no no no. but I do it anyway. So need to figure out how to stop that. I know I can do it. I did it before. Just have to get there again.

My Dr yesterday had to remind me that I needed to loose weight and all the reasons why. So I really need to get back on track and get things moving in the right direction...

ok ok Enough of all that. I will keep Trying and not give up!

Have a great day everyone.

Good Morning everyone,

Happy Thursday (it's my Friday!). I only have about 5 of them left, but on the plus side, I have some vacation time booked off from Sept. 16 to 28th. Not sure if we will be doing anything other than canning and yard work, but it will be nice to be on my schedule.

Kathryn...keeping you both in my prayers. I sure hope they find the bleeder with Ron. Rather scary stuff. Hope all is well with your eye also. Hugs.

Kathy...I wonder if breaking down the need to eliminate weight into very small portions might not help. Sometimes having the big picture always in front of you becomes overwhelming. Try doing it one pound at a time and see if that doesn't help you to stay the course. I know that exercising for you is difficult, but keep on with the bike and the chair exercises. You know we are always here for you. I don't want anything disastrous to happen to you. I hope the pills for the hot flashes help you out also. Hugs. PS...I found some really cute crochet ideas for you on Pintrest LOL.

Nancy...how's the organizing coming along?

Shirl...good luck with the inspection today. It's cooling off here very quickly too. Still way too much rain. Temperatures are already in the low teens during the daytime and down to single digits at night. I'm thinking that I am going to have to pick my tomatoes this weekend. Sure hate to pick them green, but I also do not want to lose them to frost. The North Saskatchewan River has risen dramatically in the past couple of days. Almost 4 meters as of last night. Thankfully we are far enough away for it not to be an issue for us, but the Edmonton is on alert as the river runs right through the city. I don't recall ever having so much rain in the month of August before. Maybe September will be nice! Have a great day.

Donna...hehe...love that cove and PawPaw are having so much fun with the train set. You are so right, they just get taller! Have a fun time this weekend.

Mauri...thinking of you and your family in Italy. Hugs.

Afternoon Sparkies...

I had a doctor appt today. While I was there, I had to listen to the doctor tell me how much better I'd feel without all this weight on me. And how to watch my portions and if he could do it so could I. hehehe Guess he doesn't realize that I already know all this. hehehe Here's to trying again. lol I'm about to get it right one of these days.

Oh and he saw how I was suffering with hot flashes and how bad they were so told me to go back on my HRT pills. So took his advice on that one. Just hope they work fast. I think it took almost a week the last time..

Kathryn - So sorry to hear about yours and Hubby's ER visit. Good luck with your eye and sure hope they can find that bleeder on Ron. ((hugs))

Shirl - Good luck with your inspection tomorrow. What are they inspecting for?
I'm glad that it is cooling off for you now. Not wishing winter on you just want my turn at some cool weather. hehehe emoticon I better be careful what I wish for. Guess there's a storm brewing in the Atlantic Ocean heading towards Florida.

Donna - So fun to hear about James and Cove playing together. You are so lucky to have him close enough to see him and hug him. hehehe Enjoy your family weekend.

ok headed to the FB to see what all I've missed. Have a great day everyone.

Good morning. This week it's sort of felt fall like, warm in the day and cool at night, sure been good sleeping weather. Rain is suppose to be moving in this afternoon.

Just got a notice all units are being inspected between 9 and 5 tomorrow and Friday, guess I'd better do some tidying up today, sure didn't give us much of a notice.

Wanda we got the dry and hot summer, now that it's getting closer to fall we are starting to get the rain, it has been a strange summer for weather, some places burning up and others trying to keep their heads above water. Makes me wonder what's winter going to be like.

Kathryn hope there is nothing seriously wrong with your eye and that they'll figure out what's going on with Ron.

Kathy I bet you had a big smile when Andy gave you the blanket. Glad to hear Marie is settling in ok at her sons and that you dropped in to see her with some lunch. I knew you'd be working on something.

Nancy any pool time today?

Donna enjoy your time with family this weekend.

Mauri, William, Carole and anyone else who might happen by, have a wonderful Wed.

Hugs,
Shirl

Happy hump day! Iím planning to be very productive at work today Ė just as soon as I finish on Spark. Hahaha! I was up too late last night, lingering over a glass of wine with a dear friend. I knew Iíd pay for the loss of sleep today, but it was worth it. Good soul food!

Itís cooler and rainy today. We got a few showers overnight, but not enough to leave much in the rain gauge. But we have a chance throughout the day and later in the week, too, so maybe weíll get a good drink out of this system.

Nancy, I have a friend who lives in Katy. And my boss is working down in that area this week, inspecting bridges. So if you see a fella in a hard hat, donít run over him and donít turn him in as a jumper! Hahaha Katy is a nice area. I hope you like it Ė welcome to Texas!
I believe IF can be very effective! I think the possibility of shutting down your metabolism isnít as quick as people believe; it takes a much more extreme fast for that to happen.
Enjoy your swimming! Thatís exactly what Iíd be doing on a sunny day!

Kathryn, I hate that yíall ended up in the ER yesterday! Please keep us posted about your eye and your husband. Both such scary problems.
Iím sorry to hear about your hubbyís arm troubles. Heís fortunate to have you to push him and help him out. Is your tummy still feeling well? No recurrences?
Jim has had so much fun with Cove. He was about as thrilled with the train set as Cove was when I brought it home! Haha They never really grow up; they just get taller!

Shirl, that smoothie recipe looks tasty! Sorry your walking date didnít work out, but huge pats on the back for going ahead and walking! I hope your friend feels better soon.

Kathy, love the mermaid tail! How fun and what a thoughtful gift. Way to go on the bike riding Ė great job!
Your friendís setup in her sonís home sounds a lot like my momís in my brotherís home. Itís worked out so nicely for her, and Iím sure it will for your friend as well.

Wanda, Iím sorry yíall are getting a little too much rain lately. I hope you get some sunshine soon!!
The swimming complex sounds amazing! How lucky for you to have that coming closer to you!

Okay, Iím getting out of here so I can start wading through all this paperwork. Yíall have a fantastic day!!

I had a very stressful afternoon both my hubby and I went to the ER. I am okay just had a problem with my eye, had a bunch of new floaters put up. Like one a day for a week. They checked to make sure my retina was not detaching. I have to go to my eye doctor tomorrow to have him delete the eye and make sure I don't have bleeding. They don't do that in the ER.

Hubby is down two pints of blood, he has a bleeder some where. He has been in the ER last week for the same problem and they just gave him blood and sent him back to the care home. He has an appointment with his regular doctor Friday who hopefully will run tests.

With all the stress I still did sane eating.

Good Morning all,

Happy Wednesday!

It's still wet outdoors although we are supposed to see some sunshine today before more rain later. Definitely not a dry hot summer that was predicted.

Kathy...so happy to hear that Marie is settling in nicely to her new home. How nice that her son is doing what he can to make things more convenient for her also. I hope she is able to get her stuff from her place without any issues. Way to go on riding the bike, keep up the great work and effort.

Shirl...Glad to hear that you did your walk even without Margaret. No sense wasting your time since you were already there *grin*. We have a new swimming complex that is opening up in October. It is closer to home, so am going to check it out and see if they have a better schedule for working people. I'm not sure if they have an indoor walking area, but if they do, I want to take advantage of it over the winter months.

Donna...love the train set, I'm sure that PawPaw and Cove will have a great deal of fun with it.

Kathryn...I hope you are able to encourage Ron to do his exercises. That must be painfully when his arm swells. Some days it must feel like 1 step forward and 2 steps back. Keeping you both in my prayers.

Nancy...how's the organizing coming along? You must be looking at all the lovely material and thinking about the projects you want to get to. *grin*. Have a great day.

Mauri...miss you.

Hugs,
Wanda

Afternoon everyone...

I had an appt in Kissimmee today early so wasn't able to check in before now. My appt went well. I met my new therapist (in training). She seems very nice. Then afterwards I went to visit my friend Maire. I picked up Taco salads for our lunch and we had a nice visit. She's settling in well at her son's house now that she has been told she can't be alone anymore. Her son is building her her own bathroom with a walk in shower right off her bedroom. They are making a little pantry that you go through that she can store all her serving pots and things. So she will be able to bring them all over from her house. That will make her happy.

Wow can't believe all the post when I got here. Nice to catch up with everyone.

Shirl - Yes I am working on a cute snowman for a friend of mine for Christmas. I'm sending Dylan's Dragon off to him in tomorrow's mail. And I have lots more on the list to do. lol I plan on making a couple more Roses for the girl that does my nails and her mom. hehehe
I was just telling Maire today how much my hands are aching from all the crocheting. hehehe She said that use to happen to her too.
Oh and I finished a couple of Swiffer covers and stopped and got her a new swiffer too. She loved the covers. I had made them in her favorite colors. lol

Now as for you... Good for you getting up and walking even when Margarete called off.

I rode Andy's recumbent bike today for 10 minutes straight. Woo hoo

Kathryn - Sounds like you need to help Ron out to get him motivated again with those exercises. Good luck with that.

Wanda - Sending you some of our Florida Sunshine to help them Tomatoes out. emoticon emoticon Hope it stops raining for a minute or two. hehehe

Nancy - Good luck with your sorting. My bedroom closet is screaming at me when I open the door anymore. So I really need to get that done one of these days soon.

Donna - Your weekend sounded nice. Glad you enjoyed the get together. And Yes give Cove an extra hug... And get lots of pic's to share. hehehe Also have a nice visit with your DD and SIL...

Today has been so darn hot here today. They said 97* F and that it was our hottest day this month. Can't wait for some cooler weather. As Wanda said I got a Mermaid Blanket from Andy yesterday. hehehe I so love it. And he said he got it to make me smile. Boy did I smile. lol
For those that aren't on FB... Here's a picture of it.
It's draped over my recliner... at least half of it or more. It's long. lol

I have another appt tomorrow so may not make it here until later in the day.
Have a great evening everyone...
emoticon

Good afternoon. I got on this morning but ran out of time after reading all the post and didn't have time to post as I was suppose to meet Margaret at 10 for our walk, little did I know that she had left a voice message while I was taking my shower, and I didn't think to check my phone before I left to meet her, so I was waiting for her to show up and she's usually on time, so I thought maybe I'd better check my phone, that's when I got her message; so as long as was all ready there just went ahead and walked. She wasn't feeling well this morning.

It sort of feels like a fall day today, I am enjoying it, it's been getting in the low 50's at night, good sleeping weather, may even have to take a sweater to the concert this Thursday night.

Talked with my sister yesterday and we are going to wait till next week to try and go to the cemetery while her DD is down here from their summer home, her DH doesn't mind staying with his father-in-law, my sister's DH hasn't been feeling very well and she doesn't like to leave him alone for very long, this way we can take our time and she won't be worrying while she's gone.

Wanda, boo on the rain, your maters need that sunshine.

Donna I bet Cove will love playing with the train along with his paw paw, nice pictures. Glad your get together with the ladies went ok.

Nancy it really wasn't a real sweet drink, I used Faygo Diet Cream Soda, I am not one to drink a lot of alcohol, once in awhile one doesn't hurt. A dip in the pool sounds nice.

Kathryn glad your tummy problem got solved. Enjoy your moving class.

Kathy are you working on a crochet project now?

Here's a recipe for a smoothie my DD shared with me, it makes two servings and she said it taste like a frosty from Wendy's.

Chunky Monkey Smoothie
1 cup unsweetened Almond milk, plus more as needed.
2 medium frozen banana's peeled and cut into chunks.
1 Tbs. peanut butter
1/2 cup pitted and chopped medjool dates, or to taste
1 Tbs. unsweetened cocoa powder (not the kind you bake with).

Combine all ingredients in a bender until smooth and creamy. Add more Almond milk as need to achieve a smooth consistency.

Makes 2 servings.

I'll be trying this as soon as I get the ingredients for it.

Wishing all a great Tuesday!

Hugs,
Shirl

Nancy enjoy that pool. I have a diabetic movement class to go to at the clinic today. We have a gal come out from the Y to teach it. We also have a healthy luncheon with door prizes. The way they work it everyone gets a prize you just pick it when your ticket is call. I have gotten some nice t-shirts and a nice water bottle that way.

Donna your SO looks like he really enjoys that train too, have fun with your little one.

Wanda I have no idea when hubby is coming home. He has not been doing his PT because his arm hurts. They say it is swollen because he is not using it. Yesterday we did some exercise and today I am bringing a band and a sponge to do more exercise with it. I guess I just have to take control of this.

Good Morning Positive People!

Before I forget, Donna, I am in Katy Texas, just west of Houston. I moved here from upstate New York in 2006, so I'm still more accustomed to saying "yous guys" as opposed to y'all. Have fun with your grandbaby. The train set looks very inviting! My dad was "Paw Paw" to his grandkids too!

Kathryn, glad that the solution to your problem was discovered.

Shirl, what's the weather like up there today. Are you feeling fall yet?

Wanda, I'm praying for the safe ripening of your tomato crop. Doesn't sound like you're getting a lot of that sunshine so necessary for the process.

Today is a day of IF, which stands for intermittent fasting. No food until dinner. I know it goes against conventional wisdom and the fear of shutting off the metabolism, but it is supposed to decrease the amount of insulin in my blood stream and help rectify my insulin resistance. My BG numbers have been better than when I was on medication, so I will stay the course. So while I'm not eating, I will be keeping myself occupied with sorting, creating and reading. And I have sunshine right now so I'm hopping into the pool.

Have a great day everyone.

Hello everyone! We got a brief shower yesterday but it didnít last a full five minutes. We still have some chances the rest of the week and through the weekend. I hate to not get to play outside with my grandson this weekend, but Iíd make the sacrifice for some rain.

Speaking of the grandson, PawPaw spent a little time on Sunday setting up Coveís train set so that this time it would be ready when he arrives. Of course he had to make sure it worked properly Ė safety first! Hahaha (Thatís Jim, my SO, aka PawPaw, and a glimpse of the dining room. I angled the camera away from the heap of building materials along the south wall. Ha)

Wanda, I hope your grands have a wonderful year!

Kathryn, what a relief Ė in many ways! Iím glad it wasnít more serious.

Nancy, you inspired me with your self-pampering. I did a facial mask last night. Very nice!

Hello to anyone else who drops in today! Yíall have a great day!

Good Morning all,

And the rain continues...it can stop anytime now! For a summer that was predicted to be hot and dry, Mother Nature certainly has had her joke on us. The blessing with all the rain is that I have not had to manually water from the hose very often. I have been able to water as needed from the rain barrels. Garry even got one of the barrels emptied last weekend and stored away for the winter seeing as our growing season is almost done.

Kathryn...so glad to hear that it was not a gall bladder attack and that you have been able to fix the issue. How's Ron progress coming? Any idea on when he might be able to come home?

Donna...Happy to hear that your get together was a success even with the change of venue. So glad that you have been able to have Cove for visits and that your daughter will have a chance to spend time with him this weekend also. I love it when my family is together like that. It's hard to believe how quickly they grow up. Our grandson goes into grade 2 this fall and our little granddaughter will be starting nursery school. Hopefully with her speech therapy and being among other children she will be able to develop some speech skills to help her as she goes to kindergarten next year. Shirl...How are things going in your part of the world? I hope you have been able to go for your walks with Margaret again. This has been a crazy summer for being busy or not feeling well for so many of us. Have a great Tuesday. Hugs.

Kathy...So nice of Andy to get you a new mermaid tail *grin*. Enjoy it once your weather cools down.

Mauri and anyone else that pops by...have a great day.

I talked to a doctor today about my pain and turns out it was not gall bladder, it was just because my plumbing has been kind of stopped up for a few days. I took care of that today and feel pounds lighter.

Good Monday morning, all! I hope everyone had a good, restful weekend. My get-together went really well, even if we did have to change the venue. One of my friends generously offered her home as an alternative, so it was fine. Jim went to hang out with the fellas while we women laughed, talked and drank wine. My A/C was fixed (at least for now) while we were out. So the rest of the weekend was good and relaxing! I know weíll have to replace the A/C soon, but weíre hoping to get another month or two out of it. If the guys have to crawl up in the attic in 100ļ+ weather, they charge more Ė and I donít blame them!

Weíre supposed to have a cooler week (high in the 70s today, WOW!) and even some rain chances! We got about an inch Friday night, so that was a treat. Bring it on! Kathy, looks like youíre having our hot weather. Yuck!

Kathy, what a terrible little accident! Hairline fractures are no joke. You take care of that peg and mind your doctor! Hopefully youíll get out of the boot soon. Did your stretching make your back ease up a little this morning?

Nancy, hang in there with the sorting! Enough 15 minute increments and youíll be finished in no time! Good for you with the pampering yesterday! Days like that are great soul food.
Where in Texas are you? Iím in the SE panhandle.

Wanda, Iím glad you and Garry are feeling some better. Summer colds are awful! So glad yíall made it to the wedding and enjoyed yourselves.
I hate to hear about Garryís job. You rant away Ė goodness knows we Americans love to complain about ours! Ha
Weíve had Cove several times, and heíll be back this weekend. So fun! My sweet daughter and her boyfriend are coming to visit this weekend, so we arranged it so she could see Cove as well. Iím sure looking forward to it!

Kathryn, isnít it funny how the ďtreat foodĒ starts to lose its luster? Thank goodness! Haha
Oh my goodness, I hope that tummy trouble is over for you! Hopefully it wonít come back.

Shirl, had to laugh at your comment about entertainers, etc, moving to Canada. But you know they wonít Ė they like to complain but they like living in the US more. Agree on not being too happy about either candidate this time around. Itís frustrating. Were your boots okay all day?

Well, time to get back to work. I love starting a new project! Have a great day and a great week!

Nice to see everyone up so biright and early on a Monday. Apparently I slept in!
The sun is shining, I'm sitting here in my swim suit getting ready to hop into the pool. With the rains of the past week, the temperature has gotten a little brisk, so I find myself putting it off a bit. (poor spoiled baby!)

The plan for today is to keep the organization process going. I have sooooooo much fabric that I have collected. I am going to start doing a project daily. I'm not getting into any clothes making yet. I am working on household things like potholders, tablecloths, oven mitts, placemats, throw pillows, etc. Things I may be able to sell at a craft fair. I'll have to post pictures as I go.

Kathy, keep up the good work on those PT exercises.

Shirl, quit that drinking! That cocktail you described made my teeth hurt! SWEET! Cream Soda and rum? I remember as a kid drinking vodka and grape soda, but only because that's all we could get our hands on!

Wanda, have a great day at work. I try to send some of this Texas sunshine up for your tomatoes. You may have to find a good recipe for pickled green tomatoes!

Kathryn, feel better. Sorry for your belly ache. Let's see, Wanda, Shirl, now you. Hope that belly ache stuff isn't contagious.

Here's to a great start to another work week! Make it a great day!

~Nancy~

Good Morning Sparkies...

I was so tired last night that I went to bed at 8:00 and slept until 7 am this morning... Well with numerous potty breaks in the night. I had stayed up late for 3 nights in a row watching movies or playing on the farm. hehehe So hoping that I'm all caught up on that sleep..
Unfortunately I woke with my back aching more than I went to bed with. Almost had to use the walker to get down the hall. Legs are hurting too so I must have a pinched nerve in there. Hope it works it's way out. gonna try my stretches in a minute and see if it helps. Oh and sitting on the heating pad right now too.

I'm doing pretty good on these PT exercises and stretches. I've got a spreadsheet done up and just go down the list and check them off as I do them. If I have a bad day I just do what I can and leave the rest for the next day.

Nancy - Hope you enjoyed your "ME" day. I just had 3 of them. hehehe As for the blogging... I've been bad for a long time. Not sure why I stopped doing them. But have been quiet about it hoping no one noticed. So shhh they might kick me off the team. LOL

Shirl - Your family get together for pizza sounded fun. Good for you choosing Salad over the Pizza. That is will power! hehehe Hope them boots work for you. My feet don't like shoes. Well except for my slippers and sandals. It's so hot here that I want my toes to be able to breathe. hehehe

Kathryn - How are things with you today? Did you find yourself a new outfit? Nice of Ron to want you to have one. Sending prayers that he is getting better.

Donna -How are things there with you? Did you have some Cove time? hehehe

Have a great day everyone...

Good morning. A cool 51 to start the day, it's going to be comfortable in the 70's today. Going to go to Margaret's this morning and follow her to the auto shop so she can drop off her car, getting her AC fixed, then we'll go for coffee.

Last evening was fun watching the movie The Boss and the guys eating their pizzas and us girls our salads, which were so good. Debbie had brought me back a bottle of Maple & Vanilla flavored Rum when they were in OH, so her and I each had one drink mixed with Cream Soda, not bad at all.

Saturday and Sunday did not get in any exercise so have to get back at it today, was also short on getting all my water in, I notice a difference when I don't get all my water in.

Wanda the last concert of the summer will be this Thursday, I made all of them so far except for one. Glad you and Garry were able to go to the wedding and reception. Hope you get lots of sun this week to help ripen up those tomatoes. It'll will probably take some time for your body to adjust to not having to get up so early.

Kathy wish you could get a little bit of a cool down, that's just too much heat for me, I'd hibernate the whole summer, lol.

Kathryn hope you don't start having trouble with your gall bladder, it might have been you were passing a stone.

Nancy sounds like you had a nice Sunday.

Donna, William, Mauri, Carole and anyone else who might stop by, hope you have a marvelous Monday.

Hugs,
Shirl

Good Morning everyone,

Today I get to start my new hours at work. I have an extra hour to sleep in now in the mornings...something that my body doesn't have a clue about after several years of needing to be up at 4:30 am!

The wind was blowing like crazy last night. I kept hearing things moving on the deck, so wind must have been pretty strong during those gusts. Hoping for sunshine through the week to help with the ripening of my tomatoes. They are slowly beginning to turn color. The cherry tomatoes are doing very well, but the big ones need some more time.

Kathryn...gall bladder attacks are not fun that is for sure. If the pain was on the right side at the upper part of your tummy (just below the rib cage) that is likely what caused it. I find that Apple cider vinegar and water or lemon and water as well as turmeric really help to alleviate the pain. It takes awhile though. If you can tolerate medication a tylenol or such apparently helps.
Hope you are doing better now. How was the shopping trip?

Shirl...are concerts all done now for this year? This summer season has gone by so quickly. Kids will be back in school in another couple of weeks, actually I think at the end of this month. Garry's brother is flying in from BC and the two of them are going to go their Mom's the Sept. long weekend. They will try and get most of the winter preps done for her as not sure how often Garry will be able to get back this winter. I hopefully will be doing the last of my canning! Have a great day.

Kathy...did you enjoy your "me" time with Andy gone to the beach house?

Nancy...Now that we have all the kids moved out (once again) I need to get down into the crawl space and haul everything out and sort through what we keep and what goes. I know that there is stuff that belongs to the kids there. Now that they have their own places, it can all go to their house *grin*. It's time to get things organized once again. I hear you on the 15 mins a day plan...it's so overwhelming if I look at the big picture. Have a great day.

Donna...how's your day going?

Mauri and anyone else that pops by...how you have a great day.

Hugs,
Wanda

I woke up at 6 am with a sharp pain in my tummy. Off and on it hurt for 6 hours, when it was not sharp it was dull and then it just went away. I think I had my first gall bladder attack. Maybe a stone was passing through. I don't know I have never had this kind of pain before. So glad when it stopped.

Good Morning all,

We did make it to the wedding yesterday. So beautiful. The weather co-operated and they had a beautiful sunny day for there outdoor wedding. We went to the reception but did leave after all the important happenings took place. Left the young ones to the dancing. Both of us are still battling our colds and headed straight for bed once we got home.

Nancy...I need to get back into the routine of blogging also. I do remember to count my blessings each day just getting them written down has fallen by the wayside of late. Now that my hours have changed slightly at work, maybe I won't be so tired in the mornings. Enjoy your day of pampering yourself.

Kathryn...have fun shopping for a new outfit!

Kathy...Yay on getting some new tomato plants going. I wish I had a longer growing season but hopefully once I actually get my greenhouse, I can at least extend it a bit. I'm hoping to get some raspberry canes for next year. Garry is going to see if he can snag some from his mom's garden when he goes down again on the long weekend. I'm on the look out also for some asparagus to put in the ground this fall. Hopefully I will have asparagus for next year then. Garry loves pickled asparagus.

Shirl...have a blessed Sunday. I have a crockpot ready to turn on with a nice stew. It's a bit early for the crockpot to be coming out, but a stew will be nice even if the weather is not cold *grin*. Usually it's my fall weather cooking choice.
Enjoy your day.

Donna...glad to hear that your shoulder is almost back to complete fitness. Have you had some summertime with your grandson?

Mauri...how you doing?

Have a great day all.

Good morning. This a.m. sun and blue sky, but possible showers this afternoon. later this afternoon DD, SIL and GS are coming over to watch a movie, we are getting pizza for the guys and salads for DD and me.

We got our recycling done yesterday and then went to grocery store, we got home and got groceries inside just before the heavy rain hit.

I got a new pair of boots the other day, wearing them today as I want to see how my feet do, I have a hard time finding shoes that fit without hurting, these don't seem to be to bad and I hope they'll be ok, I get so tired of wearing tennis shoes all the time, but they give me good support and don't hurt my feet like most shoes.

Kathryn did you find a cute outfit? That was nice of DH wanting you to buy a new outfit. Prayers he's improving some each day.

Wanda hope you and Garry made it through the wedding ok. The people who work and live in the real world know what our economy is like the politicians don't have a clue and think we're stupid enough to believe them when they say our economy is doing good. What do you do when you don't want to vote for either candidate? It's a sad situation. Depending on who wins you may have lots of new neighbors as many entertainers and others say if a certain person wins they are moving to Canada, of course, all these people have money and could move anywhere they want, it's crazy.

Kathy hope that cream will help your foot heal.

Nancy thinking of you and praying it will go well with being off the meds, I think you'll do well as you really want to.

Mauri, William, Donna, Carole and anyone else that stops by, have a blessed and serene Sunday!

Hugs,

Good Morning Sparkies...

Happy Sunday to you all. Not much happening here today. I did manage to get a load of laundry in the washer early while it was cooler. The humidity was rising so did it fast before I broke out into a major sweat. It's so bad here. Come on October. Can't wait for some cooler weather.
They are saying with the heat index it will be about 105 106 today. UGH So I will be staying inside most of the day. (I do have to let the dogs out and put that laundry in the dryer later) hehehe I have to carry a little towel when I go out there during the day. It helps to keep the sweat out of my eyes. lol I'm so THANKFUL for the AC... lol

Nancy - Good luck with your planning and all. emoticon And we are here for you. ((hugs))

Wanda - glad you and Garry are starting to feel a little better. Hope you make it through all of the wedding and celebrations. Good luck with your tators. And your plan for growing more in the basement. Hope you can make that work. And good luck to Garry. Hope he can find another job. Sounds like things are not good there for most. But thankful you are able to do all that you do to help your family get by. I;m sure your family appreciates all that you do too.

Shirl - How are you doing today? Hope all is well with you and Clenton today.

Kathryn - I've been off the cookies now for a while. But other BAD things just keep jumping into my cart at the store. UGH... I will get a grip one of these days. I'm almost there. I can tell because when I choose to eat something that I shouldn't I get that UGH feeling but still eat it. Have fun shopping for a new outfit.

Donna and anyone else that stops by Hope your Sunday is a great day.

ok I'm off to get that laundry in the dryer. I'd hang it on the line but then I'd have to hang myself there too to dry off. hehehe Have a wonderful day everyone.

Happy Sunday team! Today is take care of Nancy day. A facial mask. Some foot treatment, a little soak, a little lotion. Read a good book. Get my plan for the week in order. Make a few family phone calls. Take a break from sorting, or not, my choice. Just taking it easy today. I was just prowling around the team and remembered, "I forgot about the blogging part! Positive BLOGGERS" Guess I had better get back into that routine. It has been a while. But it's a good practice to put your positives in writing. I shall attempt that today.

Have a peaceful and serene Sunday. Blessings to all.

Good Morning all,

It looks likes a beautiful day in store for Ty and Sarah's wedding day. Both Garry and I are still battling our colds. We are going to go to the wedding and see how things go. If we are sniffling and coughing we will cut things short so as not to give anyone else concern. Perhaps by this afternoon we will be better. I'm not as stuffed as yesterday and Garry's chest sounds looser, so there is hope.

My tomatoes are just beginning to turn from green to yellow with a tinge of red beginning to show. So not this weekend, but hopefully next weekend I will be making salsa, ketchup, pizza sauce etc. I did get a bunch of the scabby potatoes peeled and dehydrated. Today I will harvest the rest of the potatoes and see how they are. The onions are almost ready to come out also. At least the bigger ones. Still have to do up some canned onions too.

Garry needs a new job. Things at his work are really bad and he has very little coming in the way of a paycheck this month. He gets paid strictly by commissions and management has decided that they are no longer going to be paying commissions on some things. That hits us really hard.Thank the good Lord for my job. We can at least pay the mortgage and our utilities. We are blessed to be one of those families that do not live on credit! Thankfully we have the garden and I am able to preserve a few things. I am not complaining rather I am stating facts and finding the positives in all that we do have. So blessed. There are many in Alberta right now that are destitute due to the economy and our lovely Governments. The latest statement out of our Premier's mouth..."If you can't afford the carbon tax, then get a new car". That just shows how far out of touch with reality she is. Ok Rant done.

Time to get out in the garden while it is still cool. Check things out and empty some pots. We are thinking of cleaning up some of the smaller pots and bringing them in the house for the winter and attempting to grow some fresh veggies. I do not have great lighting in the house for growing plants, but might manage a few things. Spinach, herbs, perhaps some onions etc. If I can purchase or find some grow lights I might be able to set up a grow center in my basement. Will have to think it through as to the cost though.

Have a great Saturday.

Hugs,
Wanda

Happy Saturday friends!

My fifteen minutes of sorting hardly made a dent, but it got the process started. I will devote 15 minutes (minimum) everyday until the job is done. (or I give up, whichever comes first)

I am being hyper-vigilant with my tracking because I am off my meds. It's a little scary, but careful planning is giving me some comfort.

Enjoy the day and it's always lovely to "see" your positive, smiling faces here!

PS thanks for sharing all the photos!

Good morning Sparkies...

Wanda - Hope you and Garry are feeling better today and can make it to the wedding. How's them tomatoes doing? Are they ripe enough to start that salsa? hehehe I pulled the three little Roma's off the vine this morning. They are red but need to sit a little more. Poor things... they are so little. lol Oh well. We have a few starters going and hope they survive so we will have more tomatoes this year.

Shirl - Happy Birthday to Clenton. Sounds like he had a nice day. And love the pictures you have posted. I'm glad that the concert was a success. Would have loved being there too.
Oh and I have to wear this boot at least another week. We will see if it still hurts after that. I should receive the topical medication the doctor ordered on Monday. It's suppose to help heal it. So we shall see. lol

Kathryn - How are you doing? enjoying not having to leave the house so early? it's nice to change things up a bit too. Hope Ron is still improving. Any word on when he'll come home?

Nancy - Did you get that sorting done? hehehe Don't let that stack of school stuff bother you. There is better things to do...

Donna - How's things with you? Hope that AC holds out for you. We have 3 rentals that are going to need new AC soon. Hoping they will last through this year. We use them almost year round. I may kick over to heat once or twice in the winter then back to AC. hehehe
As for my foot. I was in PT for my back again and they had me walking on this long straight rubber mat. I was walking forward and back one foot in front of the other and my foot slipped off to one side. It hurt a little but nothing terrible. Well it kept hurting for several weeks and so I finally got it checked and they found a hairline fracture and lots of inflammation when they did a ultra sound. So hence the boot. It's only been two weeks in the boot so hoping another week with the topical medication (anti-inflammatory) will make it all better.

Well I'm off to get some laundry done today. Staying in as much as I can because of the heat. so best get moving since my washer and dryer are on the back porch... I WILL have my Washer and Dryer inside SOMEDAY!!!!!! hehehe

Have a great day everyone... ~~~~~S-P-L-A-S-H~~~~~

Good morning, looks like I am the first one here today, unless someone is posting while I am typing. Our cool down is suppose to start tomorrow, I sure hope so we could use a break from the heat & humidity.

Today we have a 1 p.m. appointment at the recycling event, we only have expired meds and household batteries to drop off.

Got on the scales and am up a lb., too much eating out this week I guess.

Wanda hope you and Garry are able to make the wedding today.

Nancy, Donna, Mauri, William, Kathy, Kathryn, Carole and anyone else that happens by, have a happy Sat. and find some laughter in your day!

Good morning. Well we started out with sun, but clouds have moved in and we are suppose to get thunderstorms this afternoon, hope they happen after we get back from lunch. Took Clenton out to Big Boy for his birthday breakfast and this afternoon taking him and oldest DD out to lunch to celebrate both their birthdays.

We had a different instructor for exercise class as the other one was on vacation, boy, did she give us a good workout, feeling it today.

Will get some time in on the bike after lunch, didn't get my 10000 steps yesterday, got in a little over 8000. Did get in all my water.

The concert was great, probably about 400 people there, when they do the taste of Charlotte along with the concert it's always a good turnout. It was pretty hot and humid, finally towards the middle of the concert it cooled down a little and the humidity seemed to drop, there was a nice breeze and that helped.

Wanda glad you were able to come back home and take care of yourself, hope you and Garry will both feel good enough to go to the wedding.

Nancy that is great that you can get off some of your meds. Good luck tackling your sorting project.

Donna sure hope they can mend your AC and get you through till the cooler weather and that you can have your ladies at your home, but it's nice that you had volunteers in case the AC isn't working that you can go to one of their homes.

Kathryn hope you enjoy your moving class, I am feeling the effects of yesterdays exercise class today, but I did do stretches last night before bed and some this morning which I think helped with some of the aches.

Kathy how much longer do you need to keep wearing that boot?

My birthday guy with his two grand doggies, Vivian on the left and Olive on the right. I am spoiling him today, he's getting to eat out twice in one day, well you only turn 91 once.

This was taken when we went up north on Lake Huron to visit our nieces and families at their family reunion. Back row is our niece Peggy, her son Tim, me, Clenton and in the front is our niece Penny. It was so nice to see everyone.

Good Morning Sparkies...

Update on my fractured foot - The foot doctor said there was still a lot of inflammation in my foot so I still have to use the boot for at least another week. ugh... emoticon emoticon emoticon
Andy headed to the house at the beach yesterday. So that means I have a few "me" days.
Was planning to juswt hang here at home but just got a text from Penny needing a ride to town. so will take her and collect rents. hehehe Other wise I'd just say no. hehehe

Wow so many post... It's so nice having Donna and Nancy posing with us again. We sure have missed you both.

Nancy - Glad that you and the Dr agreed that you need to stop some of that medication. Wish I could do that. Only thing I've been able to get off is my Hormone med's. I was on them for so many years can't even remember how long. So finally stopped that months ago and still trying to live with all the hot flashes and night sweats. It's terrible.
Good luck today getting started on sorting all that stuff you brought home from school. Do you think you'll ever teach again?
Oh and yes some of us are facebooking. hehehe I posted the pups there for the family and friends... But I will post a pic or two here for those not on FB...

Donna - So nice to have you back. Love hearing about all your Renovations you are doing to the house. Oh and how's your other half doing and that grandbaby? Still see him a lot?
He is such a cutie. lol
Oh and yes the new computer is great. Was suffering for so long on that old SLOW one. hehehe

Wanda - Glad Garry is feeling better and hope you both can make it to that wedding. Something you don't want to miss.

Shirl - Oh I wish I was there with you... I'd go to the concert with you... Oh wait that was last night? but at any rate that would be a great concert. Love the oldies. lol enjoy your day and weekend.

Kathryn - I'm glad you are taking care of you in the middle of all this with your Hubby being in the nursing home and all. Keep up the great work.

Ok Puppy pic's... For those that don't know... These are my DIL's pups (Penny and Chopper) so that makes them my Great grand-babies. lol
Oh and they are Frenchton Bulldogs...

This is Delilah and her 3 puppies. Just born on Tuesday the 16th of August.

My newest Great-Granson's... Yep all boys.

This is the biggest. And Penny says he's the bully. hehehe

This is the middle one...

this is the runt...

And this is dad... Bocephus...

There you have it... hehehe they are cute but I prefer Pomeranian's...

This is my Keno... She will be 10 years old. Penny gave her this princess dress. She's so pretty. hehehe

Yep she loves to swing or be with you where-ever you are... lol

Here she is modeling a crocheted hat I made...

Ok and this is the newest member of the family... OZZY

He's gotta look and see what is going on out there. lol

He loves the pool...

Have a great day everyone...

Happy Friday! Boy, was I glad to see cool temps this morning especially. I worked at the funeral home yesterday evening, and when I left the house it was nice and cool inside. When I returned just after 9:00, it was WARM inside. The outside A/C unit is on the blink again. Mind you, itís 19 years old (yes, thatís really what I meant to type Ė they donít make Ďem like that anymore), and weíve been limping along with a few visits from a friend who does HVAC for a living. But we are hoping to make it to the cooler seasons before we have to replace it. Ugh. So theyíre at the house this morning to see if they can work some magic again. Fingers and toes crossed!

The warmer house convinced me to go light on the cardio this morning. I just couldnít face cardio in a sauna! I slept with the windows open and the ceiling fan ripping and snorting last night, which was perfectly fine, but I sweat a lot when I work out as it is! Hahaha So light cardio, plank and squats had to do today. OH, then I realized my battery had gone out on my Fitbit Ė AFTER my workout Ė and I hadnít gotten an email alerting me. Thatís what I get for depending on technology!

The other lovely thing about the A/C going out is that I have a womenís get-together planned at my house this evening, with 8 ladies attending. So we may have to change the venue. I have all the snacks, etc, so Iíll just have to carry them to another womanís home. Two of my friends have already offered their homes as an alternative, but my fingers are crossed that I can still host this one.

Nancy, good for you losing all those meds! The only one I have to take regularly now is cholesterol. Weight loss and healthy eating didnít change my numbers Ė too much bad genetics. But itís a low dose, cheap, and Iíve had no side effects from it, so I guess I can live with it! Leaving the diabetes meds behind is HUGE! Good on you!
Good luck with your sorting. If youíre anything like me, itís the starting thatís the harder part. Once you get through that initial 15 minutes, you may not be able to stop!

Kathryn, being able to have some coffee at least will help. Throughout my weight loss I got used to eating smaller meals along with the 2 snacks of about 100 calories, so Iím still in that habit, I guess. Sparkling water is a GREAT idea. My SodaStream works hard at my house Ė it always seems like a treat, even though itís just water! Sometimes I squeeze a tiny bit of lime juice in it. Water is magic, isnít it? Iím glad you get to go back to movement class. That will feel good, Iím sure. Good for the brain as well as the body.

Wanda, Iím so glad you were able to get some rest yesterday so you could feel better. And happy to hear Garry is improving! My shoulder is doing really well. I was a little worried about the planks, but so far itís holding up. I want to strengthen it further Ė still a little weak and not much definition. But that pretty much goes for both arms. Haha Thank you for asking.
It sounds like your garden is doing well. My eggplant is covered in new blooms and so are my cherry tomatoes. I have one cayenne pepper plant and a sad, little jalapeno plant. Iím hoping since theyíre getting more sun theyíll start producing again. The cayenne already has new blooms. Come on jalapeno!

Kathy, I missed what happened with your foot! How much longer will you have to be in the boot?

Yíall have a great Friday and start your weekend with a bang! (But only the good kind!) emoticon

Good Morning to all. Sun is shining this morning. Quite a relief from all the wet dreary weather we've had. I woke up feeling a bit overwhelmed. I have yet to sort my school "stuff". When I resigned in February I packed up my room and brought it all home. And here it sits waiting to be sorted. Shoot, what a mess! So the only way for me to move forward, is to devote some time everyday to the task. I'll start off easy. Today I will devote 15 minutes of my precious time to sorting. By the timer. That will get me started on the mountain of stuff that I have to move!

Have a great day everyone.

~Nancy~

Good Morning all,

I spent most of the day tending to myself yesterday. Left work as soon as my co-workers started to appear (didn't want to share my germs). I got things set up for them for the day and headed home to bed, hot lemon & honey and my immunity boost tea. Spent a wee bit of time soaking up some sun rays on the back deck and doing some meditation.

I got some potatoes all prepped to slice this morning for the dehydrator. Once I get those on the go, I will check on the tomatoes to see how they are doing. I'm thinking that if I'm really fortunate that by Sunday I might have a some to do up. If not, for sure next weekend. If I'm feeling up to it, I will be pulling my onions today to let them air before storing.

Garry's mom says she has lots of carrots for me, so that is a blessing. Garry and his brother are heading there again on the Sept. long weekend. His brother is flying in from Victoria BC. Garry will bring them back with him when he comes. I will send down some canned items in exchange. Works great!

I am heading down to the cold storage room to finally get it organized and inventoried today. My new shelves are up, so there is no more delaying the task!

Garry's chest cold is finally loosening up. We are hoping that both of us are well enough to attend the wedding tomorrow. So do not want to miss watching Ty and Sarah tie the knot. Shyra is standing up for Ty (they have been best friends since high school), Kyle (Shy's hubby) and Kaeli will be there also.

Nancy...sounds like you have a great doctor that isn't a pill pusher. Good to know that you are doing well enough to be taken off some of the meds. Keep up the great work.

Kathryn...way to go on moving forward with your new eating regime. I will have to see if we have that book in our library.

Kathy...did you get your boot removed or are you still sporting the adornment? (*grin*).

Donna...Sounds like you still have lots of projects to keep you busy. How's your shoulder doing?

Shirl...How was the concert last night?

Have a great day all. If I don't get these potatoes done while I have the energy, they will be sitting yet another day.

Hugs,
Wanada

Nancy glad things worked out well at the doctor's office

Donna I thought I would not be able to live without my afternoon snack break and then read that I could have coffee with milk. So now I just have an ice coffee with a little milk and fake sugars. I even have one in the morning, it is not counted as a snack. Today I am treating myself to 0 calorie sparking water, have not had it in weeks. The water is keeping me full.

Wanda so sorry to hear you are not feeling well emoticon sending you emoticon that those tomatoes ripen soon.

Shril you are doing so well on your exercise, keep up the good work

Kathy did you post the puppy photos on facebook? I have not checked in there yet

Went to my nutrition coach today and updated him on my latest diet. I see him for coaching once a month so will let him know how it goes. He is also the diabetic class leader so will see him Tuesday for our movement class. Am really looking forward to the movement class as I have not been able to go since hubby fall. I am changing the time around from when I go see hubby. I am going to start going in the afternoons.

Back from the Doctor's office. Doctor has taken me off diabetes meds, but wants me to continue on blood pressure meds. Prescribed a lower dose of BP med and she wants me to continue on cholesterol meds. Now it's up to me to continue monitoring blood sugar levels and keeping my diet low carb. I am about to look up the new BP med she prescribed and read that long list of side effects. Not worrying about blood glucose levels dipping too low from meds means I can kick my exercise program into high gear. I know that will help me move forward in the right direction. Thanks for "listening". Have a great day!

Good morning, all! It's been a cool(er) week here. The high today is supposed to only get up to 87ļ! It's been in the low 90s this week - such a nice break. Wish we could get a little of that rain up here, though.

Haha, I did know y'all would immediately ask about the house! I've been putting together some before and after pics. I bought an old buffet the other day for the dining room, but I don't have room yet to bring it home to start its makeover. It's sure a pretty old thing, though - can't wait! I have another small cabinet that sets on the kitchen floor that I'm going to repaint. Again, I need room to do it, but it's going to be a simple, cute project.

I'm not too busy at work right now, so I'm doing little housekeeping things in the office, like filing and preparing electronic files for the next project, etc. After all these years I've learned to cherish the downtime, because next week is likely to be so busy I'll have trouble catching my breath!

I'm hanging in there with the 30 day challenge! I looked up the No-S Diet, too, Kathryn. Looks interesting! Not sure I could do without my mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks, though. They save me! The sweets & seconds part, though - awesome!

Nancy, I look forward to getting to know you, too. Hopefully your doctor is willing to work with you on your medication plan. It's good to lighten that load.

Wanda, feel better soon. I hope you can sneak out early.

Shirl, enjoy the concert - the music sounds great!

Kathy, congrats on the new computer! That sure eases things up, when you know you can count on it.

Y'all have a great day! emoticon

Good Thursday everyone. I have my Dr.'s appointment today. I am not looking forward to it, because I desire to get off all medication and start over again. I'm not sure how the Dr. will react to my plan. But, it will be over soon. I have a book on hold at my library. I tried to pick it up yesterday but road flooding kept me from accomplishing that. Will try again after Dr.'s appt.
Planning my menu for the week ahead, making sure nutrition levels are in range, printing out the plan and tracking daily is a lot of work, but it is working to keep me on track.

Wanda, get well soon! A friend recommended "A Light Between Oceans" to read. Heard of it? I hear it's going to be a movie, so I always like to read the book before the movie.

Shirl, hope your concert goes well tonight.

Kathryn, I looked up the No-S diet. I see that it is a kinda behavior modification diet. We can all use a little behavior mod. I look forward to you sharing some of your wisdom gained from the experience! Glad hubby is fairing well.

Kathy, Where are those puppy pics that Shirl referred to? Are you girls "Facebooking" behind my back? Good luck at the foot doctor.

Donna, I look forward to getting to know you better as we travel along.

I'm off to the doctor's office. eeeeeeek!

Good morning. Starting out with sunshine. It's so good to see Nancy and Donna back on here, it feels like our team is coming back together again, we do miss you when you aren't here. Going to my last exercise class this morning. I did good with my exercise yesterday, got two 30 mins. on the bike and a 20 min. walk, which got me to my 10000 steps, got all my water in also.

Looking forward to tonight's concert, the EZ-Y Street band plays 50's, 60's and 70's music and of course, the taste of Charlotte.

Wands sorry your not feeling well, hope you can go home and take care of yourself.

Kathy those pups are very cute, hope they can sell a couple of them to help with the cost.

Kathryn glad the diet your doing will work for you.

Donna looking forward to seeing some new pictures.

Nancy hope you can find an inside workout that will work for you.

Mauri, William, Carole and anyone who comes by, have a great Thursday!

Hugs,

Good Morning Sparkies...

Kathryn - that new/old diet plan seems to have you going in the right direction again. Yay for you. And love the quote for today. That is me. I'm trying to get me head right and back on track but it's slow going. Just hope I can get this boot off and then maybe get back to trying to walk.
Glad that Ron is doing good. Small steps... ((hugs))

Wanda - Sorry that Garry shared his germs with you. Hope you can kick that sinus thing before the weekend.

Shirl - How's things with you today?

As for them pups... she is saying that since they are registered pure bred pups that they could get as much as $1000 for them or at least start at that price. I doubt that they do or will be surprised. I hope they can sell them.

Today is foot doctor appt. Hoping to get this boot off.

Have a wonderful day everyone...

Good Morning everyone.

I have managed despite trying very hard to avoid them, to harbor some of Garry's lovely cold germs. Sinuses are stuffed and I have no choice but to go into work this morning. I am the only one available this morning to disarm security and to restart the server after maintenance. Hoping to come home early and rest. Taking my lemon juice and water with me and a box of kleenex! *grin*. On the plus side, I rarely get anything other than sinus issues when cold season hits. Just hoping that I manage to get it conquered before the wedding we have to go to this weekend.

PS...for those that might be stopping in...we are taking the month of August off from posting daily challenges, we will restart in September.

Donna...so nice to see your here again. LOL, you knew we would be asking about the house, thank you for the update. I am looking forward to seeing the pictures. Your garden sounds a bit like mine, somethings are great and somethings not so great. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that enough of my tomatoes will be ripened this weekend to begin the salsa making process. The peppers are all ready to begin with, the tomatoes just need to catch up!
I will check out your link a bit later today. Thanks for stopping in.

Nancy...I need to be more consistently with an indoor routine also. I enjoy my walking, but need to find a routine that I will stick to for this winter. We have a new pool that is opening here in town in October and will be checking out what they have to offer...might actually manage to find a program that isn't too late in the evenings. Next week my hours at work take a slight change...instead of having to be up at 4:30 am, I won't have to be up until 5:30 am. Hopefully that will work out fine for me. How did your daughter's wedding go? Pictures please *grin*.

Kathryn...happy to hear that you have a new program that seems to be working for you. Yay on Ron being able to feed himself his lunch. That is great progress. Keep up the positives. Hugs.

Kathy...those puppies are so cute. Hopefully they will be able to sell a couple to help with the costs. Wishing you luck getting your boot off. My computer is giving me issues still, but taking it to work with me this morning as one of the techies is going to re-install the video drivers as he thinks that is causing the issue. Thank goodness for our great techies guys.
Yay on your new computer system too. Nothing like trying something and finding out that it doesn't take forever to load.

Shirl...I conquered the gallbladder issue and now I do battle with the sinuses. You just have to love what life tosses at you *grin*. I'm just hoping that the worst of the sinuses is over by this weekend's wedding. Happy Birthday to your eldest daughter. Hope her day was wonderful. Hope you are feeling better too. Hugs.

Time to get ready to head out the door. Have a great day all,
Hugs,
Wanda

Started my new diet Saturday and I like it. It is the NO-S-Diet. I have a friend who has been doing it many years and reached goal, stayed there. I am not hungry and not binging. Keep your fingers crossed that this one works for me. I got the book at the library. I joined the Spark team and they have a link with author who clearly explains the diet.
I have been having a nice day even took myself out to lunch. Hubby is doing good, he feed him self lunch.

Good afternoon everyone...

I think I finally have my new computer all loaded up and running great. I had the local guy build me a new one. I even think I got a good deal on it. And it's so much faster than the old one.

Wanda - Good luck on getting your computer fixed. Hope them Techie's can help you.
Hope your tomatoes ripen by Sunday for you. One of mine has more flowers and 6 tomatoes on it. Not sure they will be any good but I'm still happy they are there. It's been a struggle to keep them going. lol

Shirl - I'm glad they have Clenton on a good medicine plan. Hope it continues to work for him. I see that you saw the puppies. They are so cute... But expensive.

They are hoping to make their money back selling a couple of them, to help pay for the c-section they had to have. (it's something with the breed. Their heads are so big and the mom has small hips)

Nancy - Good luck getting your plan going...

Donna - That goes for you too. Good luck with your plan to get back in the Spark pool again. lol So nice to see you posting. You have been missed. Thanks for the update on the house. You knew that we'd ask how it's going huh? hehehe

Kathryn - Glad that Ron is ok and back at the nursing home. Hope he's feeling better today.
How you feeling?

As for me... I've been working on getting things caught up on the computer. I lost some information along the way and had to update property files again. I think the problem is I had too many ways to back up the computer and I confused myself. lol Now I'm trying to set one up for the documents and one for Pictures. hehehe
Also my back is bothering me still. I think it's because I have to wear this boot and my slipper or shoe is a different size so I'm not even when I'm walking. I go back to the foot doc tomorrow and hoping that I'm done with the boot.

Ok going to relax A bit...

Have a great day everyone...

Good morning, all! I know itís been forever, and I canít possible catch up in one day, but Iíve really been struggling with boredom with my fitness routine. Uggggg So Iíve neglected my Spark friends, and for that I apologize.

Work continues on the house. The last big project for the year will be the front bathroom: ripping out flooring and the tub surround and tiling all that, texturing & painting walls, painting woodwork and cabinetry, changing sink faucet & cabinet hardware. I canít wait to get it started, and especially get it FINISHED. That will pretty much leave the back part of the house Ė master bedroom, one guest room, and the small office space (which is barely used for anything anymore, trying to figure out how best to repurpose that room). I still havenít hung much up in the dining room, as there are piles of building materials, etc, stacked in there for the bathroom project. I will post some before and after pictures, I promise.

Happy birthdays for all Iíve missed and happy anniversaries, too.

My garden is waning in some ways and surging in others. The squash bugs got my zucchinis, so theyíre gone. Iím considering replanting for a fall garden. The big tomatoes didnít do well this year, but the cherry tomatoes did really well, and are covered with blooms all the time! My single eggplant is still blooming and producing as well. So itís been a mixed bag, but a fun one.

I posted a blog this morning about what has me so revved up and dipping my toes back into the Spark pool.

It has been raining here for 3 days. Puts a real damper on my pool exercises. I am working on getting an alternate exercise routine incorporated into my program, because with winter coming I won't have the pool exercise either. I can usually make it 'til November down here, but not when it's storming. SO. . . my priority today is to get a 10 minute indoor routine together.

Glad all bellies are on the mend. Have a great day!

Good morning. Right now we have blue sky but suppose to have more rain headed our way. My tummy seems to be doing better today, will go up and ride the bike shortly.

Today is oldest DD's birthday, she's turning 52. Happy Birthday Alicia.

I hope we don't get rain tomorrow evening as it's the taste of Charlotte along with the EZY Street Band, if it does rain the taste of Charlotte will be the following Thursday along with the last concert.

Wanda glad your gall bladder has settled down. Sorry to hear you are having computer issues.

Kathy we'll be looking for pictures of those baby pups.

Kathryn glad they figured out what was going on with Ron and that he's back at the home again, those kinds of things can send us into stress eating.

Nancy hope with help you can come up with a good formula that will work for you on keeping your blood sugars under control, I think it's different for every diabetic. Clenton's doctor put him on insulin back in June and his levels have been so much better, he takes 10 units before bed, his doctor was concerned as the last time his A1C was high and with him getting those injections in his eyes he needs to keep his blood sugar levels down. It's certainly a challenge.

William, Mauri, Carole and anyone else that stops by, wishing all a wonderful Wed.

Hugs,
Shirl

Good Morning,

I'm going to quickly get a post here (hopefully). I have been having an issue with my new computer lately that is getting worse. I keep getting a message popping up that my "display driver stopped working and has recovered". Which means that my computer stops briefly and then restarts. It used to happen only once in a while and now it's happening every few minutes.
Will have to ask my techie guys at work if they know how to fix it.

Nancy...so nice to see your post again this morning. Wishing you lots of success with the new low carb diet . My gall bladder has settled back down nicely. I've been tossing back the apple cider vinegar (shudder) with a water chaser and taking turmeric. That seems to have eased the issue considerably. Suspect there may have been a gall stone. Although how it developed is a question as I drink a lot of lemon juice and usually have a shot of apple cider vinegar a couple of times a week. All I care about is that I feel good now *grin*.

Kathryn...thinking of you today.

Kathy...how are the puppies and mom doing?

Shirl...my tomatoes are still looking pretty green, I do see a couple though that are beginning to change. Thinking they are not going to be ready by Friday, but maybe Sunday. I'm digging potatoes after work today and will be getting them ready to dehydrate so that I have potatoes all prepped for making scalloped potatoes or to use in casseroles. We eat more rice than we do potatoes, but love having the versatility of choice.
Hope you have a great day.

Mauri...how are things going?

Have a great day all. I need to get this posted before my computer decides to quit!

Hugs.

Happy day before Hump Day. Tuesday is just about done! I have been doing a lot of "bookwork" with planning, altering and tracking. I started on a low carb diet a week ago and have had to monitor my blood glucose closely. I have a Dr.'s appointment on Thursday this week and will see if she will work with me to reach my goals. I hope she is willing to do so.

Anyhoo . . . I am sorry to see all the belly issues today.

Kathryn, I am sorry for your stressful situation! Hang in there. It is tough to keep your program going when things in your life get far from "normal". Prayers for you and hubby!

Kathy, I had no idea they gave c-sections to dogs. Just never heard of it. Wishing Penny a speedy recovery. Just mentioning "birthing" gave me a flashback to recovering after giving birth. That was a long time ago, but the flashback was vivid. Intense!

Wanda, thanks for the vinegar and turmeric tip. Just in case my gall bladder kicks up on this low carb diet! I'm with Kathryn. Wish I had some of your potatoes scabs and all. Not allowed on my program. Not fun for this Irish colleen! Hope your belly feels better.

Shirl, Hope you are feeling better as well. When I read about OJ's book, my first response was "Who would want to read his side of the story?" , thinking you were speaking of THE OJ (Simpson) but at closer look I see that your friend OJ has written about beekeeping. A timely topic, since there has been mention that honeybees are on the decline. I'll have to follow the link you provided.

Thank you again for your faithfulness to the team. It is a real service! Have a good sleep all!

Hi everyone...

I'm off to get my new computer and have already taken Penny in for them to do the c-section on her pup. She has 3 new pups... Which means I'm a great Gma again. hehehe

I'll be back later to comment... Hope all is better with Ron and Wanda that you are feeling better now. Shirl Glad you are back on track... I needed to hear that as well. Need to take charge again and stop eating so bad...

A quick pop in to say good morning, dealing with an upset tummy, had to call Margaret and cancel our walk this morning as I don't want to be far from the bathroom. We got lovely rain all night and it's still raining, the cooler temps and less humidity feels good. Hoping my tummy settles down so maybe later I can get some time in on the bike.

Wanda sorry your gall bladder is misbehaving, I was glad to see mine leave, don't miss it at all. OJ's book doesn't list a publisher but there are two ISBN numbers
ISBN: 1530195675 and ISBN-13: 978-1530195671, you probably know what they stand for, I think anyone interested in bee keeping would really enjoy his book.

Kathryn I bet Ron was pleased to wake up and see you there, he is blessed to have such a caring wife.

Kathy what did you find out about your eye?

Nancy, William, Mauri, Carole and anyone else that may stop in, have a great Tuesday!

Shril hope you are feeling better today too.

I did good on my eating yesterday and then at 8 the care home called and said they were sending hubby to the ER. some thing had come back on his blood work yesterday. They did not clearly say what was wrong. I ended up doing some stress eating and than went to bed early. I knew it would be pretty late before they could find out what is wrong with hubby. I will wait until later this morning to call and find out how he is. I got up super early, just could not sleep.

Good Morning all,

I'm taking things very light with the eating today. It will be mostly liquids that get consumed today. Came home from work yesterday feeling not bad, just a bit of a pain in my stomach area, thought I might be in need of something to eat. Started to make some supper and ended up with a full-blown gall bladder attack. Haven't had one of those in a very long time. Must have been a gall stone as it was enough to take your breath away. Out came the apple cider vinegar and the turmeric. Took a good 3 hours for things to settle down and was able to drink a small smoothie to give me some nutrition. Doing well this morning, but will take things easy today. Need to increase my water intake over the next few days as well as continue with the apple cider vinegar.

We dug up some of the potatoes and discovered that they are covered in scabs. I will be peeling all of them and then slicing them up to dehydrate. This way I will have some for scalloped potatoes etc. I don't like storing potatoes that have blemishes. You would think with all the rain we have had that I wouldn't have had to worry about scabbing, but guess the timing wasn't right. Will be adding some nutrients to the soil and planting a different crop in that area next year to see if I can't get rid of the bacteria. Hopefully the pots of potatoes are ok.

Kathryn...glad to hear that Ron is continuing to improve. I'm sure it will be nice when he is well enough to come home again.

Kathy...good luck at the eye doctors. Happy to hear that the swelling in your eye has gone down. As Kathryn mentioned, maybe you had an insect bite. Have a good day.

Shirl...how nice to have such a great visit with friends. I will look into his book and see if we can obtain it for our library.

Nancy...It's hard to believe that it's been 9 years already. I have no idea anymore, I just know that I enjoy our friendships and keep on working on improving me. *grin*. I'm a work in progress!

Have a great day all,

Hugs,
Wanda

Hello all

Shril my Spark coach challenge today was to keep a water bottle by our side all day. That one is easy for me since I have been doing that ever since I gave up smokes a few years back. I like your quote about age.

Kathy glad your eye is better. Do you think you might have gotten bite by some thing? I keep getting spider bites, but luckily not by my eye.

Wanda hope Garry gets better soon. Wish you could send me some of those potatoes, I am out.

I got up early today and was at hubby's care home before he woke up. It was nice to wake him up and feed him breakfast. He eats good for breakfast but just picks at lunch. He never was a big lunch eater only problem is the care home has lunch as the biggest meal of the day. Dinner is usually just a sandwich. He let me know though that he gets peanut butter sandwiches in the evening and some times ice cream. He is not going hungry.

I wanted to go to the library today as my latest diet book is waiting for me. I forgot though they are closed Mondays. Oh well you know where I'm going tomorrow. Going to try the No-S-Diet. The Carb addicts diet had me binging on sweets during the time they said I could have carbs.

Good morning. It looks and feels like we maybe could get some rain today, in fact there's a chance for rain everyday this week.

The last 3 weeks have been hectic it seems and I haven't done so well, but today that stops, this is the week I get back on track. Got 30 min. on the bike this morning, have 4 of my 8 glasses of water in, had a healthy smoothie for breakfast, load of laundry done and put away and planning on a healthy lunch. Refocusing on what's important to my health.

We had a nice visit with OJ and Lucy last evening, he recently had a book published called Bee Keeping Logic, by OJ Blount How A Poor Farm Boy Developed The Queen's Castle, he is on FB and also has videos on youtube about bee's and how to make the hives. They gave us a signed copy of his book. OJ just turned 90 in May and Lucy will be 73 in Nov. so we have a lot in common as my Clenton will turn 91 this Friday and I'll be 73 in Dec. I like that saying "Age is a matter of mind, if you don't mind, it doesn't matter".

Nancy so good to see you on here and thanks for the reminder of how long we've been on here, I had to go look on my spark page to see when my anniversary date was, I knew it was this month, just happens to be nine yrs. today. Boy, how that time has gone by. I am happy we are still making this journey and yes we may take breaks every now and then, but we don't give up. I am glad for the ones that have joined us on this journey on this team. Congratulations on your kids weddings and your nephews. I hope changing to a specialist will help you find the right answers to the best plan for how to manage your diabetes.

Wanda it sounds like your canning season is in full gear. Sorry to hear Garry isn't feeling well, hope he'll go to a doctor this time and I don't blame you, he'd better keep those germs to himself. Hope he is feeling better for the wedding this Sat. I don't mind watching my grand doggies, they are both good girls.

Kathy glad your back is a little better, be careful not to strain it. Glad you are going to see the eye doctor.

Kathryn glad you found another tracker and at a good price. Keep those good quotes coming, you do such a good job with them.

Wishing all a marvelous Monday!

Hugs,
Shirl

Good Morning Sparkies...

Nancy Happy to see you. Can't believe our Anny is here again. 9 years ago we all met on the 50+ team. hehehe so happy that you all are still with me on this journey. (((HUGS)))

Wanda - Yep we have lots and lots of nice weather left. hehehe doesn't start cooling off here until after Halloween. hehehe We always pray that it's cool for Halloween as them kids all dressed up are so hot. lol
Can't believe that it is that dark in the mornings for you already. Hope them tomatoes ripen up for you so you can get that salsa made. I love salsa. lol

Shirl - Love Ice cream too. lol Sounds like a nice time for all. And more ice cream since some didn't show up. lol Glad you are off doggy duty now. But so nice that you were able to help out.

Kathryn - Yep knew you'd find your tracker once you bought a new one. lol Good luck making all them miles.

I'm still babying my back as it's still hurting from the other day. But hoping it will better soon.

I'm off to get my nails done and then to the eye doctor. My eye is not swollen anymore but it's still a little red. So may just get my eyes checked to see if I need new glasses. We'll see what the doctor thinks.

Have a wonderful day everyone and Happy Anny to us that have been together for 9 years. lol Woo Hoo!

Good Morning all,

I got 13 quarts of potatoes canned and will decide on whether or not I have to do any more. We have had so much moisture this year that the potaotes may not keep over the winter in storage. I need to decide if we are just going to be eating lots of fresh potatoes or if I am going to can some of them.

Hopefully I will have a nice crop of tomatoes ready to start turning into salsa and other recipes by this coming weekend. We have a wedding to attend on Saturday so that day will be out the window for canning, but I have Friday off so we will see how Mother Nature cooperates.

Nancy...nice to see your post this morning. I have being wondering how you are doing. Have you got a good handle now on the diabetes?

Kathryn...Murphys Law with you finding the old tracker. Just like me finding my charger after getting a new one *grin*. How's Ron doing?

Kathy...yay on not giving up on those tomato plants. Seems so odd for you to be starting plants now, but you have lots of nice weather still ahead of you, we are noticing the crispness in the air in the mornings already. So not looking forward to winter. It's already dark in the mornings when I get up for work and barely is light by the time I get to work. That won't last long though, it will be dark then too before we know it.
Have a great day.

Shirl...So nice that you have been able to doggie sit. Glad the ice cream social was nice. Seems like the summer events are winding down already and we are looking at fall and winter things. We went to Costco on the weekend and was horrified to see Christmas stuff out already. That is just not right!

Got my new shelves up in the cold storage room, will take a picture and share once I get some organizing done in there. It's nice to see what I have for Freeze-dried items and what I still need to obtain. I love knowing that I can always depend on having something to make a meal or to share with the family as the need arises.

Garry's chest congestion seems to have turned into a full-blown chest cold and head cold now. He seems bent on attempting to share it with me and I'm running around wiping things down with sani-wipes to keep from having those germs. LOL.

It's back to work again for another week.

Have a great day,
Hugs,
Wanda

I've been thinking of my girls lately. It was about this time 9 years ago that I met Wanda, Shirl, and Kathy. Can you believe it? I am so proud of you ladies for keeping it positive and still working to improve your health! You are an inspiration! Keep up the good work! I hope to get caught up with you soon! Lots of Love, Nancy

I found my old tracker wouldn't you know it right after I bought the new one. But it was good I did because I found the old one on a shirt I was taking out of the washer, would not work now of course.
My new tracker shows that I am walking a mile and a half to the new bus stops. I knew they were closer to hubby just did not know how much closer. I think I can still do my 10 miles a week.

Good afternoon. All done with doggie sitting, DD and family will be home probably by 5 or 6. My old friend, Lucy and her DH are stopping by at 7 this evening, they are up from AL for her family reunion and will be heading home tomorrow. The ice cream social was a nice treat yesterday, but for what ever reason some that had signed up didn't show up for it. Tomorrow night is a potluck but we aren't going this time, need to try and get my eating under control.

Wanda sounds like you've been busy with your canning this weekend.

Kathy, glad you are taking care of yourself. Good luck with your next crop of tomatoes.

Kathryn sounds like you had a very nice day for you and your friend.

Hope all are having a blessed and serene Sunday!

Hugs,

Good Afternoon everyone...

Things look better today. I've had so many negatives hit me all at once and I was looking for positives.
Yay
- Tenant bringing the rent out today. hehehe
- I've gotten my house plants watered.
- I swiffered the house and mopped the kitchen.
- Got me showered and washed me long golden locks. hehehe emoticon

Kathryn - Your "me" day sounded wonderful. I love them days too.
And woo hoo on your new tracker being on sale. lol
Always a plus...

Wanda - Happy Canning to you! Glad that your garden is producing for you. We've started some new tomato plants from the ones I have growing. So far so good on them living. Andy told me that now is out tomato planting season. So maybe we will get lucky and get more tomatoes... I've only gotten about 3 or 4 after all that trouble. hehehe

Shirl - Hope all is going well with your babysitting. My poor Keno just hates that thunder too. She sits and shakes. Poor babies.
How are you doing? You feeling better? ((hugs))

After all I did this morning think i will try to finish up my PT exercises (which is what I'm staying with for now) And then get back to some crocheting and heating pad on my back. I've given it a good workout already. hehehe

Hae a great day everyone...

Good Morning everyone,

Just a quick stop in as I am in the middle of doing some canning of potatoes. Have 7 quarts in the pressure canner right now and waiting to do the next 7. Hopefully the tomatoes will be ready by next Friday for me to start making salsa and diced tomatoes, if there is enough, will be doing up some ketchup too.

We have a wedding next Saturday to attend, so that day will be shot as far as any canning getting done, but all work and no play is not good *grin*.

I have veggie soup that I want to can yet, so if the tomatoes are not ready, will be doing veggie soup on Friday.

Kathryn...sounds like you had a great "me" day...good for you. Yay on getting a new tracker and on sale too!

Kathy...keep on doing the exercises just less quickly and soon you will be moving well again *grin*. Hugs.

Shirl...those poor doggies and the thunder. It's nice that you can go out and spend the night with them.

Got to go...will try and get back again later.

Have a great day,
Hugs,
Wanda

Yesterdays '"Me day" was a blast. I went for coffee with my walking buddy at the in store Starbucks and than we did the supermarket. I got a good buy on skinless boneless chicken thighs, bought 5 pounds worth. Now with the skinless boneless chicken breasts I bought at Grocery Outlet and the salmon I bought before hubby got laid up, I have my protein for the month. I also bought some mint for my water bottle but turns out I don't like it as much as plain ice water.
I then took myself out to Jack in the Box for lunch. Had their chicken/rice bowl and an egg roll.
After that I went to Walmart and got my new tracker. I got the kind I had before and it was on sale. I also bought a new cutting board. I had been telling hubby I wanted a new one. I like to change them every other year or so.

Shirl - It was my fault doing that video. I was thinking he's going very fast (for me) and then made note and slowed down. I was so hoping I could do them. They aren't hard and I'm already doing a lot of the ab things anyway... Just slower. hehehe
Sounds like the pups are being good for you. Mine little one "Keno" hates all that thunder and will be close to me when she hears it.

They are saying our rain will only be at 30% for a few days which is not a good thing for us. We need the rain to cool things down. It's very hot today... In the 90's feels like 103...

Wanda - Glad you have some tomatoes ripening... I had a nice tomato sandwich yesterday. it was so good.
Enjoy the rest of your day.

I took my computer back up and he agreed it died. So having him build me a new one. Should have it by Tuesday. I had to order the hard drive.

Now that I am cooled off again think I'll go find that heating pad and use it.

Have a good day everyone

Good morning. We got a good amount of rain during the night and it looks like we might be in for more today. I got up at 5:30 this morning as I had wanted to let the doggies out, Olive went out but Vivian didn't want to go out, so I put their food in their dishes and did a few things and then she went out for me. I had planned on stopping at Meijer's for groceries on my way home this morning, but had left my list at home, so instead came home and got DH and we went across the road to the Big Boy for breakfast, then we went for groceries, well they always say "don't go grocery shopping on an empty stomach". I had a nice bowl of apple, cinnamon oatmeal and a piece of ww toast. The doggies were good for me last night, they both slept on the floor by the bed as close as they could get, they didn't like the thunder that kept rolling through all last night. Looks like we might get more rain today, we really needed it.

This afternoon is the ice cream social from 2-4, after that I'll have to go let the doggies out, then come back here and get supper, then around 8:30 I'll go back out to spend the night with the doggies.

Wanda glad to here some of your tomatoes are starting to get ripe. The group that played this time were The Roaring 20's Band, great music.

Kathy sorry you hurt yourself doing that video, remember you can always adjust those exercises to what you can do, don't want you hurting yourself. That's to bad about the computer, glad Andy was there to put it in the car for you, hope they can figure out what's wrong with it.

Kathryn hope you enjoyed your me day with your friend and that you found lots of good buys at the market.

Wishing all a great Saturday, and find some laughter in your day!

Hugs,
Shirl

Good Morning all,

I'm starting off with some positives...this is day 2 without rain! I have 3 big tomatoes turning red. Although I wasn't able to do any canning yesterday, I did get some housework done. Today I get to go and get a haircut. Need one so badly.

Poor Garry has a chest infection again. Hoping he will go to the doctor this time and get some advice.

The new shelves are all prepped for staining and hopefully I can get them done today and we can get them hung on the wall and filled. I will take pictures when they are up.

Shirl...glad you had a nice air-conditioned place to enjoy the concert. This humidity is what seems to be doing most of us in.

Kathryn...hope you enjoyed your me day.

Kathy...that is so frustrating to have to take your computer back again. Hope they can solve the issue this time. Take it easy on your back.

I'm planning on enjoying my Saturday and being outdoors as much as possible.

Hugs,
Wanda

Kathryn - It's nice that you took some time for yourself. We all have to do that sometimes.

Shirl - Glad that they moved the concert inside. The humidity is the worse.
Stay cool...

Wanda - You busy canning? hehehe

My back is still hurting. I did one of them video's that Shirl posted on FB and the guy went a little fast for me so I think it put a strain on my back. That is the only thing I have done. So think i will try some heat today and only doing my PT exercises. Hoping it helps. I got an appt for my eye on Monday. Although the swelling wasn't bad today. I'll get an eye test if it's better by Monday. Need that too. lol

I went and got my computer back from the repair shop and it's still not working.Ugh... I have to take it back in this morning and hoping he can figure it out.
So frustrating...

I'm trying to find a positive but it's hard that past few days.

- Thankful that hubby is here to lift my computer and put it in the car for me.
- And I have a working heating pad. Well it's a couple of little positives. hehehe

Have a great day everyone...

Good Morning all,

We have sunshine this morning! No rain overnight just some heavy dew on things. I have a couple of large tomatoes that are finally starting to turn color. Now if the others just follow suit I should be able to have a nice crop to turn into preserves. They won't be ready this weekend, but next weekend will be busy as we have a wedding to attend also on next Saturday (20TH). My peppers are not liking the delay in being picked so will have to pick some today. They are showing signs of wrinkling on the ends...need to get them done. Might chop those ones up and put in the fridge or freezer so they are all ready for the salsa.

Kathryn..enjoy your Me day today. I'm sure that Ron will understand that sometimes you just have to take care of yourself if you are going to be able to be there for others. Yay that he is making some improvements in his abilities to do more for himself. That is awesome and hard work on his part. Have a great day today. Hugs.

Kathy...glad to hear that your tomatoes are still producing. That is great. Try a cold tea bag on your eye. That is an home remedy that we have always used whenever we used to develop a sty or some such thing with our eyes. There is something in the tea that draws out infection. Do go and see your doctor though if it doesn't get better. Happy Friday!

Shirl...did you get some rain finally yesterday? I would be so happy to share some of ours. We did finally have a lovely sunny day yesterday, and no rain last night! Sun is shining this morning, so that is a good sign. So need the heat from the sun to ripen things in the garden.
Did you get to go to the concert last night? Who was playing? Have a great Friday.

Time to get started on my housework or I will end up sitting here and not wanting to do anything *grin*.

Happy Friday everyone,
Wanda
