I used my new pedometer for the two walks I did today and walked a total of 3.13 miles

I had to pop in and check on y'all - sounds like everyone's still kicking! We've been staying busy and cooking up a storm! My sister is a whiz in the kitchen and has shared some wonderful recipes with me!

We took Mama to Walmart yesterday and helped her pick out some new clothes. She enjoyed the outing but it wore her out! It was a very good day.

It's nice here today but a little cooler. The wind blew HARD last night and blew one of my back gates open and Tank went for a run when I let her out to potty. I drove around a little looking for her, but that's just impossible. She came home about 2:30 am. Of course, I didn't sleep well until she was safely back in the house. I'm at work for at least part of the day, but I'm dragging tail! I did get my cardio in before work this morning. I hit the 30# down mark yesterday, so I'm holding onto my motivation!! Whoop!

Okay, back to work to squeeze in as much as possible before I go back home to a busy schedule of talking, laughing and watching movies! Y'all have a great day!

Good morning. It's a cool and cloudy one. Question, do any of you have the Spark Activity Tracker and if you do is it easy to use and to set up? I just don't seem to have any luck finding a pedometer that works for me.

Boy did that baked potato taste good last night. Today is day 3, so I can eat all the veggies, fruit and soup I want and tomorrow is bananas and skim milk which I like as I make smoothies for my 3 meals and also have the soup, so far I've dropped 1 lb. Tomorrow is coffee hour but don't think I'll go as the last two mornings in the bathroom quiet a bit, all those veggies and fruits really gets things moving, if you know what I mean.

Pulled a few Easter decorations out yesterday, as I realized how close Easter is.

Just got the mail and DD sent me a picture that was taken at Elissa's baby shower of me and GD, DD, GD(one that's expecting), a nice picture.

Didn't get over to see my friend yesterday, I got a letter from her today, maybe this afternoon if tummy settles down. I also wanted to stop by our church to measure and see if I can't find some containers to hold the communion things, right now they are just in a cardboard box and it's kind of messy.

Wishing all a great Thursday!

Hugs,
Shirl

Good Morning all,

I'm rushing this morning...had such a great sleep last night that I woke up to the alarm this morning and had trouble orienting myself! Felt good to have a great sleep though.

I have a very busy day ahead at work as my selectors all decided to send down orders at the same time. I also have to remember to send them an email letting them know that I will be away the last week of April and until the 13th of May. Hopefully they will get me lots of order prior to that date.

We had freezing rain last night so not looking forward to the drive to work...will be extra cautious. More major snow expected by Wednesday of next week. Yuck!

I was so happy to find that some of my tops that I tried on yesterday are now fitting so much better and I can actually wear them comfortably. Staying away from processed foods is working!

Kathryn...yay on getting the new pedometer. Why don't you record your daily steps/distance in the walking challenge? It will be fun to see how far the team walked in 2015. Made me giggle when you talked about buying walking shorts, I'm talking snow shovels yet *grin*. Have a great day.

Shirl...so glad that you have been able to get rid of the headache and your vision is better. I'm back to having my left ear plugged again. It cleared up completely and yesterday it started plugging again. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with my sinuses as I now have a stuffy nose too. Crazy weather! Yay on getting your brace. It does take a bit to get used to but you won't even notice it after awhile. So happy that you will have some support for your knee. Hugs.

Donna, Wyndy, Mermaid, Mauri, Carole and any one else that pops in...have a great day.

Need to leave early due to the roads.
Hugs,
Wanda

Went to my diabetic class yesterday and than spent the rest off the day vegging in front of the T.V.. I did have a nice walk to my class and a tiny walk with them. Most of the class is not use to walking so we are going slow. We went 1 1/2 times around the block.
Today my walking buddy and I went to Walmart and I bought a new pedometer and a new pair of walking shorts. This new pedometer clips to my shoe. I will start using it tomorrow morning.

Good morning. It's a wet one, but rain is suppose to move out later this morning and our temps will be warming up, well for at least this one day, it just looks like March just doesn't want to warm up.

Day 2 of my plan and really looking forward to that baked potato this evening.

Late yesterday I got rid of the allergy headache and started feeling better. They are saying the allergy season has all ready started and it's even going to be worse than last year, oh joy, the pollen is suppose to be heavier this season. I don't have the blurry vision today, so it was my allergies that were causing the problem, not my new lenses.

Wearing my knee brace, wanting to get use to the feel of it before I start walking again. It sort of makes me feel like Chester on Gunsmoke, even though I have the hinged one, you don't bend your leg like you normally do, but if it helps that knee heal I am all for it.

Donna sounds like you are really having a good time with your family.

Wanda, glad the snow had disappeared by the time you got home and no shoveling for you. Yes, when I start walking I'll have to build back up to an hour, will start out slow and listen to my body. I had 3 bowls of the soup yesterday and ate lots of fruit, felt good, well after I got rid of the allergy headache, and not hungry at all.

Wishing all a well Wednesday!

Hugs,
Shirl

Good Morning everyone.

The sun did it's job on my driveway and the sidewalks in front of our house yesterday. NO SNOW when I got home from work. The roads and along the sides of the roads are still deep with it, but it will likely all be gone by the weekend if the temperatures are right.

Donna...way to go on picking up some tips on cooking with tofu from your sister. I like the firm tofo to cook with, but would really like to learn from someone who knows first hand how to use it. I have been trying to eat natural foods and I see the difference and feel the difference in how I feel. Steering away from processed foods as much as possible. It means having to be a bit more creative with my meal plans, especially when I am tired and don't feel like cooking...but I think the trick for me will be to have lots of prepped things in the fridge ready to grab. I'm also wanting to work into my weekend schedules batch cooking and then canning or freezing the leftovers for quick and easy meals. I'm learning to make many of my owns things from scratch. At least this way there will be no preservatives and chemicals in what I use. Have fun with your mom and sister.

Shirl...glad to hear that your temperatures are warming up also. Yay on getting a knee brace. That was my life saver before I had my surgery. Hope that injection works for you. I find that comfrey root tea really helps with the inflamation as well as using cinnamon in everything you can. Great results from the tests you had done. That is good news. The more you can keep walking the better you will be should you ever have to have surgery. Keeping those muscles strong is a great asset. You might find that you have to take shorter but more frequent walks so as to not stress your knee too much. Have a great day.

Mermaid...you always make me giggle. Your poor fur babies! I'm sure they appreciate your efforts though with the hot weather. CRS is very contagious, it even spreads through virtual means! *grin*.

Kathryn, Wyndy, Mauri and anyone else that pops by...hope you are having a great day.

Hugs,
Wanda

Good morning! It's another gorgeous day here. I'm enjoying my mom and sister being here. I took yesterday afternoon off and will again today. We rented a couple of movies (my mom is a HUGE movie nut), and both were wonderful. One was "St. Vincent," with Bill Murray, and the other was "Hector and the Search for Happiness," with Simon Pegg. We enjoyed both very much.

It's been interesting having my sister here. She has been eating a mostly vegan diet for the past several months and says she feels much better. She hasn't been focusing on weight loss, but it's coming off anyway. We compare notes and she cooked a pot pie last night that was out of this world! She scrambled some silken firm tofu this morning with all kinds of little yummies in it and it was delicious! I'm definitely going to be eating more tofu, since I'm learning more things I can do with it.

Shirl, yay for no gout! I hope the injection helps you tremendously.

Kathy, I suffer from CRS, too. Or I think I do - I can't quite recall. hahaha

Wanda, congratulations on eliminating that weight! That feels so good. I'm happy for you!!

I hope everyone has a lovely day! I'm off this afternoon for more R&R with the crazy women at my house!

Good chilly morning, we started out at 15, suppose to go up in the 40's later today, chance of rain, which might be freezing rain before the temps go up, rain is suppose to end tomorrow late morning but the temps are suppose to be in the upper 50's tomorrow, that'll feel warm after these really chilly days.

Saw my rheumatologist yesterday afternoon, there was good news all my test came back negative, I havet no Gout in my system, no RA, just the OA. I got a cortisone shot in my left knee, we'll see how that goes, may still need an MRI to see if I have a tear that needs repairing. I am hoping the shot helps with the inflammation and I won't need to do the MRI or any kind of surgery. She gave me a prescription for a knee brace, will go get that filled today. I go back again the end of May. She wants me to try and get into exercising again, which I will do. After I get my knee brace will get back to walking again.

Day 1 of my 7 day plan. I am all ready looking forward to tomorrow when I can have a baked potato for supper, lol.

Mermaid my youngest DD has a Pomeranian and she is a furry mess too, so know what you mean. I am still trying to get use to these new lenses, I am having allergy issues too, so will pick up some OC med for that today, sometimes my allergies make me have blurry vision, so we'll see. If it's not one thing it's something else, lol.

Kathryn we'd be glad to have your 50's. MI is having a very cold March this year.

Wanda, glad you didn't get a lot of snow this last time and hope it'll all disappear so you don't have to shovel when you get home. We are suppose to be getting rain later this evening, I just hope we don't get the freezing stuff.

Wyndy how are you doing with those Avon orders?

Donna enjoy the family time you are having. No doubt your sister from Alaska will enjoy those nice warm temps.

Carole how are things with you.

Mauri is your work schedule getting busier? Don't forget to try and take some time for you.

Wishing all a terrific Tuesday!

Hugs,
Shirl

Good Morning Sparkies...

Kathryn - We will be back down into the 70's come the weekend. I'm looking forward to it. We've been in the 80s' all week and most of last week. And it's been nice but warm. And that only means the 90's are not far behind so I'm liking then 70's... hehehe Now the 50's I'm with you and would need a little jacket. hehehe Hope you got your walk in.

Wanda - I'm sorry I mean to say Yay Yippee and emoticon emoticon on your Elimination yesterday that you posted... It's hard work and we should remember to celebrate with each other. So sorry that I forgot. But you know that this Mermaid Can't Remember Sh... oops I mean Stuff... Or CRS for short... hehehe
Happy for you that your got to drive over that snow this morning... I even saw that little evil look in your eye when you were doing it... hehehe Yep you were saying take that you snow... as the tires were crushing that snow... Bahahaha... Now I really hope that it gets warmer and Mother Nature melts it all away and it gone by the time you get home. I'll leave that story right there. The End. Believe me ... The ending of that story was not good in MY Head... Ok Ok... I'm having a really strange morning. I think I need more coffee... hehehe

Shirl - How are you doing this morning... How's them new glasses doing? Any more headaches? Did you start the Cabbage soup again?

Donna - How's things with you and yours? Are you having a good time visiting with your mom and sis?

Wyndy - How you doing? Bet you are busy busy with that Avon order. Good luck with that...

Yesterday I decided to clip the pups hair and went a little crazy on Foxy's hair... Poor thing... She is a Pomeranian and has so much hair... And it's getting so hot here... Well now she looks like a little hairless dog or something... poor thing. I should have used the 1/2 inch instead if the 14 inch. hehehe oops... oh well it will grow back. And she has a sweater if she needs it. Keno she came out good. I didn't do as bad on her. I've always clipped them so not sure what made me clip Foxy so short except her fur is different. She's like a sheep and has all that under coat and it is such a battle to clip her... It takes me most of the day to get it all done. I'm thinking the prices that they charge may be worth it to pay to have someone else do it from now on. Hmmm

Have a great day everyone...

Good Morning all,

Light snow over night and I'm just going to drive right over it! Temperatures are supposed to warm up and we are supposed to get some rain. I'm going to let Mother Nature do my work for me!

Kathryn...I chuckled when I read your post and you said it was cold outside with being in the 50's. But then when you are used to nice warm sunny weather, I'm sure it did feel cold. Right now...those temperatures would be downright balmy where I live *grin*. Hope you were able to get out for your walking. What are you reading now?

Wyndy...Did you avon arrive? Hope the roads are good and you can get it all delivered safely. How's the gout doing? Hopefully you are better now. Have a great day.

Shirl...wishing you much success on your second go around with the cabbage soup. I'm still doing good with cutting out processed foods and eating natural things as much as possible. Loving having my smoothies each morning. The fruit and veggies seem to be working for me at this time. Hope your day is great. Hugs.

Donna...Enjoy your visit with your Mom and sister. So nice that you can have them stay with you for a bit. I'm looking forward to having Garry's mom with us over the wedding. She is 83 and loves to be social. Have a great day.

Mermaid...Nice to hear that there was such a great turn out for the celebration of life. Good for you for choosing carefully what you ate. Summer's coming and you need to look good in that bikini! Hugs.

Mauri...don't forget to take time for you too in all your busy schedule. Hugs.

Have a great day all,

Good Morning Everyone...

Happy Monday to you all...

Kathryn - Hope you enjoyed you Sunday Rest day...

Wyndy - Oh boy Tax time. Good luck getting all that info pulled together. I've gotten all mine done and sent to the accountant a few weeks ago. Good Luck with all that 9 cartons of Avon coming in. That is a lot to process and distribute.

Wanda - Glad you got Garry's taxes all done. YAY I'm with you and so happy when it's all done and over with for another year. I'm still waiting for mine to come back and to see how bad it is and how much e may have to pay out if any this year. With our properties it's close. ugh. hehehe Bummer that you got dumped on with all the snow again. Glad Garry was home to help shovel it. My back is screaming just thinking of shoveling all that heaving wet stuff.
Now as for them Thank You cards... Yep you got the better end of the deal. lol
I hate writing now and even typed my son a letter this weekend. hehehe I know my bad... hey at least he can read it. hehehe

Shirl - Hope your headache went away and stayed away...Hoping it's not your glasses. And now this Pastor you mentioned is this the one that they had the vote on that day? Good luck with your Cabbage soup diet again. I ran across that recipe the week in my recipe folder. hehehe But just don't think I have it in me. So good luck to you...

Donna - So glad you enjoyed your weekend with your sisters and Mom... And i can so relate to being around all that food that you are not used to anymore. That is what I faced at the Party/wake the other day. So I found myself just going back to the fresh fruit table and eating the fresh pineapple,. It was so good. And I did taste a little if this and that but it was not feeling right so only took a bite of it. They had pulled pork I did not eat any of it. Hot wings I did not eat And I love them. hehehe so I did really good.
So like you I'm looking forward to some stirfry tonight... Enjoy your time with your Mom and Sister. And that lovely weather.

We have 80% chance of rain today. Which has made it nice and cool out there for us today. Which is great as I have to finish grooming the pups today.

Have a great day everyone.

Good morning! I had a great weekend with my mom and sisters, and brought my oldest sister and my mom home with me for the week. Jim made us a nice stir fry for supper and I left sis & mom still snoozing when I came to work. They were pretty worn out after the weekend. My mom is 88 and loves to go, go, go, but it does tire her out. The sis we visited and her husband eat a terrible diet, so it was impossible to stay on track. My other sis is mostly vegan and we were suffering after a few days of high carb, high fat, low fiber, low veggie eating. Also, it was raining so we didn't walk or anything. They eat so much worse than I did, and I ate horribly! It's amazing how wrong it feels physically as well as mentally to eat that way now. Thank goodness!

We still enjoyed the visit. Lots of laughter and talking, and we even managed to squeeze in a good chick flick - "The Magic of Belle Isle" with Morgan Freeman. If you haven't seen it, you'd like it. A little mild language, but sweet and funny.

It's going to be a beautiful week here, in the 80s every day. My Alaskan sister will love it!

Good morning. It's a chilly one here in the low 20's, cloudy, but at least no snow. They had cake and beverages between Sunday School and the beginning of church yesterday to welcome Pastor Ricky and his family. We had a light breakfast and will have a light lunch, as we plan to stop and eat on our way home today from my doctor's appointment.

Wanda tomorrow I start on the 7 day plan, made my soup yesterday, made a little bigger batch this time as last time I barely had a 1/2 cup left on the last day. Sorry you got dumped on with snow again, so far we've been lucky and not got hit. Glad you got those taxes done. Woo hoo, on another lb. gone.

Mermaid glad there was such a nice turnout for your friends husband, it's nice to share all the good memories.

Wyndy sounds like your Avon order will keep you busy for a while.

Kathryn hope you have a good week of walking.

Wishing all a marvelous Monday!

Good Morning all,
Sorry I was not on much this past weekend. I just spent a crazy busy and a very stressful weekend. It's now time to head into a work week...which in my case will be much less stressful *grin*.

We got hit with a major snowfall over the weekend. It was wet and heavy and incredibly difficult to shovel. Thank you Lord, that Garry was home to help with the shoveling. It was also the only weekend that I have free before taxes are due to be filed...so spent my time organizing and doing taxes. Garry's are always so involved. On the plus side...they are done for another year! YAY.

I'm thrilled to say that I have eliminated 1 more pound, so onward and upward I go. I will continue to eat my eating plan, drink my smoothies and ingest my cabbage soup. I have changed things to work better for me.

Shirl...hope your headache is better and that its not your new glasses causing it. Glad your trip for Clenton's eyes was good and hope the new meds work for him. Is today the day you start on your cabbage soup or is it tomorrow. I modified the plan to suit me better and although not following it the same as you...I'm looking for results too. *grin*.

Kathryn...good for you for knowing your route that you walk and saving yourself some money on a new pedometer. I was so looking forward to getting out doors and walking, but with all the snow fall we had over this weekend, it will be a few days before the sidewalks and roads are safe again. On the plus side of all this snow...the ground needs the moisture and Garry was home on the weekend to help with the shoveling.

Mermaid... so glad that the celebration of your friends life was so well attended and included happy times. Today I am taking all the makings for some cards to work so that I can use the cutter at work. We are making some thank you cards for the wedding to go with the wedding favors. I will get them all made and then Shy and Kyle will do all the writing! I like my end of the bargain better *grin*.

Donna, Mauri, Wyndy, and whomever else pops in...hope you have a wonderful day too.

Hugs,
Wanda

Just about have my ledger ready for the accountant for income tax. Just a few items I have to double check on and then enter. Tomorrow I receive 9 cartons of Avon so don't think I'll finish the ledger till later in the week. emoticon

Good Morning Sparkies...

Happy Sunday Everyone!

Kathryn - Good luck mapping out your miles. You've walked it enough you should know it all by now. I used to do it in minutes. And then put it in that way. And you know how fast you walk... Good luck with it...

Shirl - Glad your trip to Ann Arbor went well. Hope that your DH's eyes are better with the new medication they used. Sorry you got a headache. Hope you don't get another one today and that i's not your new glasses that is causing it.

Yesterday was the Wake/ Party for my friend and it was a very nice day for it. There was a great turn out. I think there must have been well over 50+ people that came. There were lots of food and drink and it looked like lots of fun and laughs too. Lots of memories too. Marie his wife stopped the festivities a couple of times as different crowds came and went and read a poem and then everyone toasted one of Rick's famous sayings which I can't remember at this moment but it was a funny one and everyone laughed and toasted. So all in all it was a success! He was a very popular guy and will be missed.

Not much on the agenda today.

Have a great day everyone...

I ended up not getting a pedometer I am just going to map my route on the fitness tracker and save the $20 for a tracker. I can record all my exercise here on Spark I don't need to carry a tracker. Hubby says I want the same routes most days so I know when I have walked over a mile.

Good morning all. We had a good trip to and back from Ann Arbor yesterday. DH had more fluid this time in both eyes, so ended up getting any injection in both eyes with a different medicine this time and has to go back for more injections April 15, at 9 a.m. We stopped for a late lunch at Applebee's on our way home. I had one blinger of a headache by the time we got back home, ended up eating some chicken noodle soup, putting on my jamies and going to bed, I think it was partly caused from allergies and trying to get use to my stronger lenses, hope I don't get one today. I didn't even turn the computer on yesterday so there went my streak off logging on, now I'll have to start all over.

We didn't have much sun yesterday and today it's all gray and only going to be in the mid 40's, it feels cold and damp to me. We should go to the store, but don't really feel like getting out.

Mermaid glad your birthday was nice and congratulations on getting your new bed and getting a savings on it.

Wyndy you sound like you have been a very busy lady, what with doggie appointments and your appointments it keeps you running. Hope the new medicine helps your doggie.

Kathryn hope you were able to find a pedometer like your old one.

Donna enjoy your time with family.

Wanda, Carole, Mauri and whoever might pop in wishing you a good Sat.

Now I'll go and post silly Saturday.

Hugs,
Shirl

Good morning Sparkies...

Happy Saturday to you all...

Thank you all for the Birthday Wishes. I did have a nice Birthday. DH, BIL , DIL and myself went out to the local Chop house and I had a wonderful prime rib. Oh was it ever good. I've never had one there as I usually get there small sirloin or shrimp usually... love shrimp being a mermaid and all. hehehe I had my prime rib blacken and grilled because I don't like it all red like most people eat it all raw. hehehe it was so good. I had enough left over that I brought home and Andy and I had another meal for dinner the next day. hehehe

I also went and bought a new bed for my birthday. A king size Euro bed from a little local place where they make them. It's nice and BIL found a coupon just in time which saved us $150 off on the bed. hehehe What luck that was. hehehe They delivered it yesterday. It was nice sleeping on it last night.

I haven't been feeling well. Just been trying to lay low and rest. My body is telling me to rest rest rest... So that is what I've been trying to do. I just feel like I have no energy.

Wyndy - Wow you have lots going on. Your poor puppy has too. You sound like me having to run run to all them dr's and I had to go pick my pups medications for her heart yesterday. I sure hope the changes they made for your pup helps. And wonder what that girl is doing to bring on that pain for you after that massage. I'd sure mention it and see if she could figure it out. You should feel better when you leave not worse. Good luck with it all.

Kathryn - Did you get another pedometer? I bet you were lost without one with all the walking you do. I was thinking I should get one then decided it would be a waste seeing I just don't move that much. But was thinking I may move a mile a day. hehehe Especially on the days I go to Walmart but that is only once a week and I usually track that in minutes. So decided to just keep on doing it the way I do it now in minutes. hehehe
Hope you were able to find the same one you had.

Wanda- Oh boy what fun to get to shovel snow on the first day of spring. hehehe Love it that you still find the positives in it. hehehe Well you will have to find another exercise soon to replace it. hehehe Hope you have a great day.

Donna- Hope you enjoy your weekend with your Momma, Sister and Grandbaby too. What fun!

Which reminds me... We now have a new Great Grandson born yesterday. Karson... 7lbs 7oz 21 in long... He's in Indiana so of course I get to watch him grow up on FB... But that is ok... He's healthy and that is the important thing... I will post pic's when I get the go ahead. hehehe

Carole - So nice to see you. I would love to volunteer at the animal shelter too. I always wanted many dogs... But now knowing how expensive it is I can't... I love dogs... We had 3 but lost our Frodo in Nov. emoticon He was our baby boy... But we still have our 2 girls that bring us much happiness.
And you know I've never heard of the Vaseline on the feet to prevent blisters. hmmm Thanks for that...

Shirl - Hope you are liking your new glasses. How did you day go yesterday to Ann Arbor? Did DH do ok with his Appt? I'm glad your DD's are there to take you. How cool that they have a bucket list too.
Good for you for not gaining. That is what I was hoping for too.

I was afraid that I would have gained after eating out for my Birthday (but I did watch what I ate all that day so I could splurge that evening) But I made me birthday brownies cuz I was craving chocolate bad.
And after all that I Eliminated a pound. emoticon emoticon So I am pleased. hehehe

Today is my friends Wake/Party so we will be going there today.

Hope that everyone has a nice weekend... emoticon

Wednesday a day off turned out into writing up a new template for my Avon invoices and trying it out on the invoices for the order that is suppose to arrive Monday. I say suppose to become since Christmas they've been arriving Tuesday. It went pretty well, still some quirks to fix but those are basically aesthetic ones. Plus I went for a raindrop massage. It's the same young woman I've been going to for the past year and I'm not that pleased with her. I always leave feeling like she has done something to my hips and not walking correctly for 2 days. She doesn't jerk or pull but she does seem to be able to catch the nerves and slightly pinch them. I don't want to end up like January and on a cane for 3 months again! But I did come home and crawl into bed and sleep like a log for 3 hours. Of course, last night I could only sleep for an hour at a time. LOL. Why does it all average out.

Yesterday was so busy. Took Dollar back to the vet to have his skin checked over again. She wants him to be shaved again, poor thing he starts to shake as soon as we get the leash out now. His back is healing but this underside isn't so she changed his antibiotic and another shampoo without oatmeal in it. He has as many doctor things as I do.
Then we went home changed clothes (there is no way you can take the dog to the vet and not get hair all over yourself) and headed out to the hospital for more tests and inspections. The specialist was in from PA (Prince Albert) to have a look see at our ears and hearing. I will keep my 2 hearing aids and they don't know about Ted's. They've discovered that he probably has a tumor on his auditory canal. They booked him in for an MRI but the waiting period is 9 - 12 months unless someone cancels and they pop him in. They don't know if removing the tumor will help his hearing or not. It's a 50/50 thing.

Today I really really really MUST start getting my ledger ready to go to the accountant for income tax. I am so thankful that Canada's taxes are due April 30 and not in the middle of the month like the US. I would never make that on time. emoticon

I also received some back orders at the post office yesterday so have to figure out who they belong to and arrange to deliver them. I am hoping that the customers will say oh bring it with next week's order. emoticon

I still haven't had the courage to start walking on the machine yet. Am still quite weak from lack of use since January. It's amazing how quickly the body can lose it's tone and energy. I did receive a replacement tracker though so am ready, just need to tell my legs that LOL

I set up my blog again wynswonderland.blogspot.ca to start up the reviews. Now all I have to do is get 30 followers in order to get back onto the review tours. I'm not worried about that, it'll take about 6 months but that will give me time to get back into the groove again.

Going to Walmart today to get a new pedometer, I really need to have one. I hope they have the same kind I have now. It is so easy to read at a glance and fits in my pocket so well. I love my walks but really want to know how far I have gone and how long I have been walking. This one stopped working because hubby lost the washer that was in the battery compartment. He says he never saw it. Next time I change my own battery.

Good Morning all and Happy first day of Spring!

I woke up this morning to a lovely dump of snow overnight so I'm out the door to start shoveling so I can get out of my garage. On the plus side...it's no where near the amount of snow that the Eastern provinces in Canada have been getting! I'll be burning calories and getting my body moving this morning bright and early.

I will check in later to see what you have all been up to.

Donna...enjoy your time with your family. Safe travels. Looking forward to hearing all about it when you get back.

Have a good one everyone,

Hugs,
Wanda

Hi everyone and happy Thursday! I won’t be on much this weekend. I’m heading to my mom’s to pick her and my sister up and take them to our other sister’s house for the weekend. Then Mama and my sister are coming home with me for the week.

Oh, Wyndy, I do remember harvest gold. Oh, goodness, that made me smile! I have 2 crock pots and it is handy to have the second one.
I’ve worked with engineers for the last 15 years and they’re just not like other folks, are they? You would know, being married to one! Haha They just look at everything differently! It’s definitely put me on my toes more.
You should definitely go back to reviewing! That would be so much fun. I belong to a private book group on facebook, so that’s the only reviewing I do.

Kathryn, I’m fascinated by toe joint replacement. I’ve never even heard of that! I’m so often gobsmacked by modern medicine!

Wanda, I’m glad y’all mentioned the bridge, too. I don’t see how they can get away without entirely replacing those girders. I’ll be watching how they proceed! Rerouting 40k vehicles a day is quite the challenge. Then there’s the wear and tear on the alternate route roadways from the extra daily traffic. Mind-boggling.

Carole, yes, it was avocado green! I had a rent house once that had the green shag carpet and one wall with wayyyyyyy too much of that green on it. Wow.

Kathy, happy belated birthday! Somehow I missed that yesterday!

Shirl-That's fun that your daughters are doing a bucket list. I hope they enjoy it. I remember going with my mom and brother in law to see Blue Suede Shoes. I told him it was an Elvis play or something, well we got there and it was a ballet. Oh my. The look on my BIL's face was priceless. hahaha (Normally he wouldn't be caught dead going to a ballet.)

Wanda-6 miles! Wow. I'm lucky if I get in 4 miles a day. Of course my job is a desk job so not much walking there. I do have a software that runs and every 2 hours it pops up and tells me to take a break. It shows me 3 exercises to do and the rest of the time I get up from my desk and go for a walk.

Wyndy-You crack me up with your harvest gold. haha When we moved into our house there was lots of harvest gold and I forget what the green is called. Avocado green? It also had the popcorn ceiling. If you find any good crockpot recipes I'm all ears. I love crockpot cooking. Mine is a medium size crockpot. I sometimes wished I had the oval shaped ones instead of round but it works for 3. I just need to cut up the meat or adjust the amounts put in sometimes or everything doesn't fit. My pot is a avocado green to go with your harvest gold. haha

Kathryn-8 miles??? Wow. I feel like a slacker. haha If I walk that far I have to put vaseline on my feet before I go. Prevents blisters/calluses. I learned that in triathlon training. Great for hiking too. The boy scout campout training I went to said to use electrical tape on your feet to prevent blisters. I think I'd rather go the vaseline route. hehe

Donna-Wow! you def keep busy. I'm tempted to volunteer at the local animal shelter. I miss having a dog and I would be helping them out. I would love to help walk the dogs. teehee. Copy editing sounds interesting.

Mermaid-I hope you had a lovely birthday! Your flowers are gorgeous.

Good morning. We were at 26 this morning, at 31 when we came back from the eye doctor's, got my new lenses put in this morning, now I have to get use to not having the no line bifocals. I got a new pair of sunglasses at Walmart yesterday, they are the good ones that you can wear over your glasses and they have the good sun protection lenses, even on the sides, as I no longer have the progressive lenses anymore either.

Tomorrow is the 1st day of spring and it's suppose to get up to 54 tomorrow, it should be a good day for traveling to Ann Arbor for DH's follow up appointment for his eyes, both of our girls are taking us, we have to be there by 9:45 a.m.

Saturday our youngest DD and her sis are going to a ballet, that was an item on the youngest ones bucket list, so they are going together.

Weighed in this a.m. and weight has stayed the same, which I am happy for, as after coming off the 7 day plan I was afraid I'd put some of the weight I'd lost back on, but haven't, so am hoping at the end of the next 7 day plan I'll have dropped at least another 5 or 6 lbs. I have not behaved myself very well with my food choices this week, another good reason to do the 7 day plan and detox my body again and get myself back on track. I can do this, I am going to do this.

Wishing all a great Thursday!

Hugs,
Shirl

Good Morning everyone.

What a great read through the posts last night. So many interesting things going on in people's lives. Thank you for sharing.

Donna...what an interesting choice of jobs you have. Glad we mentioned about the Groat Road Bridge...it certainly sparked some great conversation. From the news it appears that the we could be looking at up to a year of closure if they have to completely replace those girders. Unbelievable how much they twisted. It has definitely created some major challenges with having to re-route traffic. They were saying on the news that the bridge sees about 40,000 vehicles a day that now need to find alternate routes.

Kathryn....awesome mileage yesterday. Hope that your feet are doing ok today. I'm trying to consistently do a minimum of 6 miles a day. Somedays are harder than the others depending on whether I've had to put in overtime at work or not. We are supposed to have a chance of snow today and tomorrow, so no walking outside yet for me. By next week it is supposed to be on the plus side again, so hopefully I can get out there soon. Meanwhile, I just walk indoors everywhere I can.

Wyndy...I have seriously been considering a second slow cooker also. Mainly because I am making more and more of our meals from scratch and with working full time, it would be nice to have a couple of different meals on the go at once. Garry loves taking leftovers for his lunches and that would be a big help in having things ready for him. I enjoyed reading your post from yesterday. I'd say go for getting back into the reviewing...especially if you enjoyed doing it.

Mermaid...hope you had a wonderful birthday yesterday.

Shirl, Mauri, Carole and anyone else that pops in today...enjoy this day.

Need to run already. Have a great day all.

Hugs,
Wanda

Wyndy enjoy your day off.

Wanda glad to hear the weather is warming up in your area, are you able to get some walks in yet.

Kathy your Amayills looks lovely, mine did not come up this year. I tell you I don't have a green thumb. I love my little indoor garden but these plants are lucky to be alive.

Shril hubby loved the eggs last night, thanks for the idea

Positive quote from the self help book I read last night-Get active and exercise at least 60 minutes a day.

I took it to hart and took an hour walk this morning and than my walking buddy called and we walked for 30 minutes. I came home to rest and hubby sent me back to the supermarket because I had just bought all the stuff for home made pizza but the sauce. I walked 8 miles today and it is only a little after 2 I still have the rest of the day to go through. My feet hurt. I did lay with them wrapped in ice up on pillows. I had joint replacement on both the big toes a few years back, and so have to be careful.

Donna my husband is an Electrical PEng. He was the manager of the Hydro station here in Nipawin plus looked after all the electrical engineering for SaskPower Northern Hydro for about 20 years which included 8 hydro stations. He retired and now he is a consulting engineer with T.E.D. Inc. He mostly works for SaskPower on the NERC projects and runs emergency crisis intervention on all the old units as he's one of the few still around. His contract is up in April and they want him to sign on for another 4 years but that will put him past 70 and he's getting kinda worn out. On the other hand, if he takes it, he won't be around the house to interfere with my schedule. Your "other" jobs sound very interesting. I used to be a review for Christian books until I got so sick a couple of years ago. I've been thinking about starting up again, can't read a book without feeling guilty not reviewing it. LOL

Had a very interesting slow cooker curry vegetable supper last night from the Spark cookbook. Not bad at all but definitely needed some bread with it. Made the Irish stew for Ted and he was happy. I'm thinking I may need to buy a second slow cooker. I had to use an old Dutch Oven for the stew from the 1970's. It was almost too heavy for me to lift now. It is a solid aluminum one with a - get this - harvest gold enamel exterior. Anyone remember the harvest gold theme? Really dated myself didn't I. LOL

It's a cold winter wind blowing down from the north but the sun is shining so I'm going to go sit in front of the south windows and read this afternoon. Today is my off day except for some paper work.

Have an enjoyable day

Good morning everyone! I have had quite a time the past few days and have struggled a bit to stay positive, but, as they say, fake it ‘til you make it! Life goes on and it is good, and always and everywhere we give Him thanks. I didn’t realize until this morning that I completely forgot to post a Tuesday challenge, and I apologize for that. Maybe I’ll do a double next Tuesday, so you’d better watch out! Haha

Wyndy, I’m in the SE panhandle, between Wichita Falls & Amarillo. I’m not a CE; I’m an engineering technician. My boss and I subcontract with a handful of engineering firms who contract with the State of Texas to do routine inspections of bridges. Every bridge (including overpasses) and culverts (over a certain size) in the US must be inspected every 2 years (with the exception of some newer culverts in good condition). This is a federal mandate, so the work never ends. Any interval inspections or special inspections (meeting certain conditions, for example, underwater inspections requiring divers) are done separately. I used to work in the field doing the actual inspections, but our office got so busy we needed one person full time in the office to handle the reporting (which takes longer than the inspections) and one person able to go out and inspect at any time (usually for a week at a time). We now have my assistant, who works part time, and we may be adding a full time assistant in the office. My boss occasionally has someone work in the field with him, but most of the time it’s a one-person job.
I am completely in love with my work and my workplace. My boss and I are as much friends as coworkers and my assistant says we treat each other just like brother and sister, which is more what our relationship feels like. His kids are like nieces and nephew to me and vice versa. I love working with “extended family.” He also likes to think of himself as the “anti-boss,” so it’s a super fun environment, while we get an amazingly huge amount of work done.
I’m familiar with Bridgeport, having driven through there to see family in the DFW area many, many times. If you’re ever in this neck of the woods, let’s do work out a way for you to stop by or at least meet somewhere in town for a coffee pit stop on your way through!

I also work part time for another friend who is a funeral director. Occasionally he needs someone to stay in the funeral home while there are family visitations, etc. I do light paperwork, answer questions, things like that. It isn’t demanding and usually I end up doing a crossword puzzle, knitting, or reading. It pays well, but I don’t work there often, as he has a pretty good part time staff. I worked last night until about 9. It’s just been a busy time.

My OTHER part time is my favorite p/t job. I do copy editing for a local author. He’s an established outdoor photographer and writes for newspapers and magazines, and has written several books. I’ve always been a word nerd, so it’s hard for me to believe I can get paid as well as I do to play with words! Haha I’ve copy edited all but one of the books he’s written, and that one was a textbook specifically for a university system so they had their own copy editor. My most recent project was my first effort at ghost writing! The author had accepted a biography for a local ranch and then overbooked himself. After having worked with me for so many years, he asked if I’d ghost write it. SO MUCH FUN!! And I was able to tuck away enough money to take a nice tropical vacation next spring! He has two other ranches who may get on board to do the same type of books, and he’s already told me he’ll just let me ghost write those as well.

Carole, I thought about adding some of my strawberry-banana “ice cream” to my smoothie this morning, but I’m pretty sure Jim would have noticed that I’d pilfered some of HIS treat, as I ate my portion the other night. Ha! Mmmmm, the black bean/corn salsa sounds wonderful. I LOVE spicy food! The salad potluck is such a cool idea. I’ll have to remember that! I’ll also have to remember that Ben & Jerry’s has low cal smoothies, thanks for that little tip! I steer clear of ordering smoothies out because they’re usually so loaded with calories. 225 is excellent!!

Kathryn, thank you for that quote – I like that one!

Wanda, poor Kismet. I hope y’all had an easy time with it. That’s no fun for anyone involved!

Kathy, your flowers look beautiful! I can’t wait until ours are in bloom. Our roses are covered in leaves and I saw some tiny bud-lets yesterday, so it’s coming!! I’ve never had any luck with gladiolas for some reason, but they’re so beautiful. I’m looking forward to seeing Andy’s.
Jim bought a corned beef brisket yesterday and smoked it, so we’ll be eating on that for the next couple of days, and probably vacuum seal some for the freezer for later. A little late, but oh well! It’s the thought that counts! haha

Everyone have a great day! This was a long message, but I just had so much to say!

Good morning, we were at 25 this a.m. with wind chill of 16, but the sun is shinning. Will be a good day for coffee with Margaret. If you happen to watch the movie The Fault is in the Stars, be sure and have some tissues handy, DH and I watched it last night and we both needed those tissues, it's a good movie.

Mermaid emoticon to you!

Carole I remember the Pinewood Derby from when our oldest was in cub scouts, he's 51 now, so it's been a while.

Donna wonder how the banana ice cream would be with blueberries, may have to try that combination. Thanks for sharing what you do for a living, very interesting.

Kathryn isn't it nice when we can open our windows to let some fresh air in.

Wanda, Mauri and whoever else might stop by enjoy your Wednesday!

Hugs,
Shirl

Good Morning Sparkies...

Sounds like everyone had a nice St. Patty's Day... We were invited to Marie's for Corn beef and cabbage but DH doesn't like it so I declined. I like it and remember my mom making it when we were young. She always used that canned corn beef since there was just 3 of us and I've tried to make it that way but DH wont' eat it. So we had left over spaghetti... Oh yeah yum... emoticon lol

Well hoping that today will be a better meal... it's Mermaids Birthday today... emoticon
And look what bloomed yesterday just time...

Yep... My Pink Amaryills... This bloom is as big as my hand opened up wide.
And there are more to come right behind... This is what they looked like last year.

And these are the red ones that bloomed last week...

And I can't wait... My Don Juan Rose will be giving me roses in no time... this is one from last year I think... They are my favorites. They smell the best of all the roses that I have ever smelled. hehehe

And soon Andy's Glad's will come and I will share all of them with you too. hehehe I'm so thankful that he has planted them they will be a sight to see. He's planted over a 100 of them this year. Wow... hehehe

Not sure what we will be doing today. Maybe a dinner out... hehehe

As for my for my friend wake...They had decided that it will be on Saturday afternoon. So we have a plan for that now. So I will rest up for that one. I've been running and running lately it seems so needing a couple of down days.

ok will see if I can catch up with all of you...

Good Morning all,
Our snow is almost all gone, there is dust in the air when people drive by due to the sand that was put on the roads to combat the icy conditions previously. I'm sure the cleaners will be out soon. I'm enjoying this early spring weather. My heart aches though for the people in Eastern Canada that are experiencing still the ravages of winter and snow. The amount of snow they have and still are receiving has been brutal this winter.

I have to take Kismet in to the vet's late this afternoon to have her nails trimmed. I am not able to do it as it takes 2 people to hold down this 9 pound cat that turns into the Tasmanian devil if you try to hold her. Bless the people at the vets office who tackle the job for me. My job will be to catch her and wrap her in a towel to get her inside of the cage to get her there!

Garry has a good friend that offered to sell us some of his US dollars at par for the wedding expenses. His gift to the us. Bless his heart. Yes, this is someone that we trust totally. Not having to pay exchange and bank charges will be a blessing with our dollar having dropped so badly in recent months.

Kathryn...it's been so nice when I have been getting home from work the past couple of days that I have been able to leave the kitchen door open for a short time to get fresh air circulating through the house after being closed up all winter. Kismet is enjoying being able to go out on the deck once again. It's still too cool to leave the door open for long, but it's coming!

Shirl...that is too bad that everyone that signed up for the potluck didn't show up...but it is good that you were able to eat healthy. That is so hard when someone has to move away from the circle of friendship due to health reasons. I hope you are still able to keep in touch. This weekend, Shy and I are going to be sitting down to hopefully get some of the decisions made that she and Kyle want. Time is running out! Can't believe how quickly the wedding is coming now.

Donna, Carole, Mermaid, Mauri, Wyndy and whomever else pops by...enjoy the blessing of today and I will check in later to see what you are all up to.

Hugs,
Wanda

Shril I liked the sound of deviled eggs and am making a few for hubby's and my dinner tonight. We are having corn beef sandwiches and salad, just a cold dinner tonight. It has been in the 70 the last few days and will be that way for the rest of the week. We have the windows open and enjoying the day. Yesterday I took an afternoon walk to Starbucks and set on their patio it was really nice.

Hello all!
Today is the annual salad potluck at work. The morale committee buys the greens and we buy the stuff that you can put on it or make it. I put some black bean and corn salsa someone had brought on it. WHOA. Glad I have my water bottle handy. It has some serious kick to it. Discover I like kale better not cooked. I mixed that in as well. I brought unsalted sunflower seeds. I'm definitely getting my veggies in today! Yesterday I went to Ben and Jerry's and got a smoothie. So good. Didn't realize it was only 225 calories. I may have to have more of those. I bought some greek yogurt and the cherry frozen mix so will have to give it a shot.

Donna-I love the strawberry banana smoothie combo. Its so good.

My flowers are coming up! My son's school sold flower bulb packages last fall and they are starting to bloom. I have a couple yellow and a couple white flowers sprouting. My daffodils are starting and hopefully the tulips that didn't come up last year will come up this year.

Kathy-Sorry about your friend. What a neat memorial though. A big party.

Wanda-Glad you were able to get a better deal on your phone package. I use Virgin Mobile. The coverage in remote areas is nonexistant but I'm mainly in city so that it works for me. For some odd reason all other carriers don't work at my house but this one does. Weird.

Hope you all have a Happy St. Pat's day! I have the Pinewood Derby tonight at scouts. Should be fun. Hubby made a car too as it is our last year in cub scouts. He's a little sad about it being the last time participating. My son made a truck that he's going to fill with gems in the back. He's also putting rhinestones on the side I think. Not sure how he's going to decorate it. He's into gemstones lately. He likes collecting rocks in general.

Donna, I didn't realize that you worked in that kind of job. Are you a Civil Engineer? What part of Texas do you come from. I have special friends in Bridgeport and yes, I know that you wouldn't know them, but I sort of like to keep track of where friends live in case I go on a holiday. Won't be this year with the loonie in the tank that's for sure but maybe another year. I think Texas is about the only Western state I haven't been to. I was hoping last year to go to Missouri - friend in Stella and then to Bridgeport but it didn't work out.

Have an enjoyable day

emoticon Happy St. Patrick’s Day everyone! Are you wearing your green? I felt obnoxiously bright until my assistant walked in wearing her bright green tuxedo style t-shirt! We had a good laugh about that. I’m actually Irish, too – my mom is half English, half Irish.

I had my strawberry-banana “ice cream” for dessert last night and YUM!! I let it set out for about 5 minutes and it was so creamy and delicious! I can’t wait to make it with other stuff added to the banana!

Shirl, enjoy your coffee with your friend! We had the windows open all day yesterday, but eventually closed up and turned on the AC! It was 81º outside and got a little too hot inside, so we ran the unit for a bit to cool things off. Sadly, it doesn’t cool down a whole lot here at night. This morning was lovely, and the temps aren’t supposed to get much above 65º for the high. Perfect!

Wyndy, I wish I could taste some of that Irish stew. We had such wonderful stews when we were there last summer. Your stew sounds wonderful!
My boss gets gout from time to time. I’ve never had it but he says it’s definitely no fun. I hope you’re feeling much better.

Wanda, way to go on the cell plan savings! We still carry my daughter on our plan, so there’s probably no reducing ours for a few more years. It’s amazing how low the phone companies and cable/satellite companies can make your bill – IF YOU ASK. Sadly, they wait for you to threaten to leave them.
I love teas, especially herbal, green or white teas. I normally have a cup of green tea instead of coffee in the mornings. These are made by TeaMi, as I mentioned. The “cleanse” consists of two different blends, one loose leaf and one in tea bags. They’re very different tasting from one another, but both quite good. I’ll have to check out steepedteas.com, thanks for the suggestion!

Kathy, so sorry to hear your friend’s dreadful news. I’m glad y’all are there for her. Bless her. I got 20 pts today, too!

So I hadn’t heard about the Groat Rd bridge. I know y’all probably think there’s no reason I should have, but the biggest part of our business is routine bridge inspection for the Texas Department of Transportation. When big failures occur around the world, it becomes a big topic of conversation. So I pulled up photos and news items and my boss and I (both federal inspectors) checked out the pics of the bent replacement girders. Crazy stuff! Now we’re hooked, so we’ll be following the story closely. I’m so glad y’all mentioned it!

Hello to everyone else who pops in!

Good morning to all, hope you're wearing green today, I am wearing my tee shirt that says "Everyone's Irish on St. Patrick's Day" a Happy St. Patrick's Day to all!
emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Making boiled dinner for lunch today. The potluck was fine last evening, only had about 20 people show up, some that were signed up didn't come, but there was enough food to go around. We learned at the potluck that one of the ladies that had gone to the hospital a little while ago is now staying with her DD and will not be coming back here, Glenna is the one I'd take to her appointments once in a while, a really nice lady and she'll be missed.

Tomorrow I am meeting my friend, Margaret, at Biggby's for coffee, all coffee's are just $1.99 till 7 p.m. in celebration of their birthday, so am looking forward to some kind of yummy, frothy coffee.

We are only going to get up to the low 40's today and we have a strong north wind blowing which is giving us wind chill's in the low 30's, but the sun is shinning, glad I was able to open the slider and bedroom window yesterday, sure won't be doing that today.

Wanda yay for getting more good deals on your home phone and lowering your cable bill.

Donna my one DD has made that banana ice cream and she loves it, I've yet to make it but probably will.

Kathy thinking of you and Marie.

Wyndy so happy for you that your foot has returned to it's normal size and that the juice helped you. Hope your DH enjoys the dinner you are fixing, it sounds good too.

Everyone enjoy this day and may the luck of the Irish be with ya!

Hugs,
Shirl

Good morning and Happy St. Patrick's Day to you all. This is the one day of the year that the Irish Community grows by leaps and bounds. The Irishness no matter how little just seeps on out *grin*. I can honestly say that we have Irish in our blood. My grandfather was Irish. Enjoy the day...don't forget to wear your green.

Shirl...hope you can get some good exercises for your knees. I can appreciate how painful they can be. I'm changing up my eating plan somewhat this week. I am eliminating processed foods as much as possible. It's fresh veggies and fruit, my smoothies and I did make a pot of cabbage soup again. I will not be following the diet of cabbage soup as strictly as before and going to see how I do for the next few days. I just might end up joining you next Tuesday. I'm trying to find something that works without the meat! I made a big dish of veggie stir-fry last night for supper and some rice for Garry. Ate my veggie stir-fry and thought I would have some for today also. Nope....Garry really liked it too and ate all the rest of it as well as the rice! At least he is eating healthier too *grin*.

Kathryn...I was thrilled to get such a big reduction in our cell phone bill as well as phones that work consistently again. These ones I hope will last several years too. I even managed to get our Shaw cable/internet/landline bill reduced yesterday. I had phoned last month and changed the cable package we were on as were watched so few of the channels that we were getting. I had it lowered to a different plan. I checked with the person that was talking to as to what my bill would be going forward and he assured me several times that it would be $124 a month. Got my ebill yesterday and it was $163. Big difference. So I phoned again yesterday to ask why the big difference and the result is I got transferred to a person in another department that was incredibly helpful. I just told her that I could not afford that high a bill and although I have been a loyal customer for several years, I might have to look at other options as I wanted a bill around $124 that was affordable. The long and short of it all, she worked out some amazing deals. I still have all my services but she "managed" to find some discounts for the next 24 months and arrange for a service person to come by tonight to give us a better modum as my connection keeps dropping, all for the new price of $126 plus taxes...That I can live with! I am feeling so blessed.

Donna...I saw that intresting recipe on Pintrest with the bananas and turning them into ice cream. YAY...it works...thanks for letting us know. I saw one for Strawberries too. I have been pinning all sorts of yummy sounding smoothie recipes too. Your tea detox sounds good. My coworker brought in some tea last week from Steepedteas.com called Cinnamon hearts. Oh my...the cinnamon smell was amazing. It's made with black tea. I'm thinking I might need to look into getting some *grin*.

Mermaid...you just keep on coming in each day and we will help you through this time. You can find those positives...I know you can. You are an amazingly strong woman. So glad that you and Andy are there for Marie. Hugs.

Wyndy....so glad to hear that the juice is helping with the gout. That can be so painful. My hubby gets episodes in his foot too. Those girders on the Groat road bridge definitely twisted. What was supposed to be just a weekend replacement and closure looks like it might now be anywhere from one month to one year! We had major winds through here on Saturday night, but find it hard to believe that they could have done so much damage! There is a major investigation happening now.

Have a great day everyone,
Hugs,
Wanda

Shirl my dh will get his favourite Irish stew, I even went to the liquor board store and bought some Irish stout to soak the meat and flavour the sauce. Potatoes, parsnips, and turnips as well as "other stuff". Those however are the most important to him. LOL

emoticon emoticon

Wanda, I drank black cherry juice all day yesterday. At 3 am my food was swollen and solid and I figured the skin was going to break. At 7 am it was back to normal and didn't even hurt except that the big toe tingled. Amazing. My doctor's appt was this morning to review all the blood work the hospital did. Everything except the uric acid is fine so he said just no fish or shellfish and limit red meat to once a week. Thank goodness. That I can handle much better than trying to figure out all the nutrition in a vegetarian regimen. - What in the world happened to cause those girders to bend on Groat Road. Couldn't believe the pictures.

Have an enjoyable day

I have to share the latest thing to blow my teeny little mind. haha I've been reading about making banana "ice cream," where you just freeze banana and puree it in a food processor forever, until it gets creamy like ice cream. You can add just about anything to it to add flavors. I used these big, fat, ripe strawberries.

I sliced 2 bananas into coins and froze them solid, then put them into my Magic Bullet with about 4 big strawberries and a couple of teaspoons of water. I pureed it for a long, long time. It seemed like it would never get creamy, but eventually it just smoothed out and looked wonderful! I split it into 2 bowls, covered them, and froze them. After supper, I set it out for about 5 minutes.

It had the same smooth, creamy mouth feel of ice cream! I'm anxious to try other flavors in it now! Very satisfying. Mind blown!

Good afternoon, don't know where my morning went, lol. Well after breakfast dishes were done we did head to Walmart for a few groceries, stopped for lunch, then came home and got the eggs boiling so I could make the deviled eggs for this evening's potluck. Now trying to get caught up on my computer stuff and listening to Irish music on Pandora. It's a beautiful day, 67 out and I have the slider and bedroom window open, love the fresh air, so does the cat, he's all stretched out in front of the slider. Didn't get on the computer a lot yesterday while A.J. was still here, watched movies with him. I am taking this week off and not following any certain plan, will just try and eat the healthiest I can, the next week on Tuesday will do the 7 day plan cabbage soup diet again, I'd love to be down 10#'s by DH's birthday in August. It's funny you all are talking about new phones, my cell did a funny thing over the weekend, it's functioning ok now, but my DD hopes it hangs in there till May as then she wants to upgrade all our phones, so she wants me to go on line and check some out and write down the ones I might be interested in. My cell is just a small flip, but I am so use to it, I know I'll have to adjust to a new one.

Wanda glad you got a good deal on your and Garry's new phones and saved money to boot. It's hard to believe it's just 6 weeks till the wedding, that'll go by so fast, the next thing you know you'll be in Mexico. Woo hoo on finding those sandals for both of you and your DD finding such a great deal on the dresses. Yes, we get that spring bug as the days start getting nicer, I've been thinking about getting our two lawn chairs out of the storage unit and putting out on the patio, but think I'll wait till next week when the temps will be a little warmer again.

Kathy so sorry for the loss of Marie's DH. That was so nice of you and Andy to be there for him and her. Prayers for all of you.

Kathryn I am anxious to get out my spring/summer clothes here pretty soon, it is like getting a whole new wardrobe after they've been put away all winter.

Wyndy thanks for the goodie, tomorrow is the day we can all be Irish. I have my stuff to make my boiled dinner of cabbage, potatoes and carrots, I don't do the corn beef. I have no Irish in me, but DH does on his mama's side, his grandpa was a big Irish policeman in KY.

Donna there are so many smoothie recipes on pinterest it's mind boggling, lol, and they all sound good.

Carole, Mauri and whoever might pop in hope you're having a marvelous Monday and that all will have a Happy St. Patrick's Day tomorrow.

Kathy I only get to see my grand children on Facebook too. Winter clothes are my long jeans, sweat shirts, sweaters and long sleeve shirts. Spring are t-shirts and capis, Summer are tank tops and shorts.

Wanda emoticon on the new phones and service plan, always good when we pay less. Hubby and I changed ours last year and got it cut in half, I won't tell how low it is I don't want any one upset, but it is really low. We don't have smart phones just old flip phones that we have had for years, they still work so why change we just want them for making phone calls.

Was not happy with what the scale said today so getting myself back on track. Have been not tracking and over eating again. Got some salad making today, that always gets me on the right track, also got some cuties for my sweet tooth. Going to get myself under control. I have not been on any binges just eating over my daily allotment.

Buzzing through my day so far. I'm down 2 lbs from my short term goal! I left my tracker and tacked on more to the goal, but I'm trying to keep track in my head from the short term goal point. If that makes sense. I'm also doing an herbal tea "cleanse." I rarely do any kind of a "cleanse," but these teas (TeaMi) came highly recommended as a great system and delicious. They are tasty, and the cleanse doesn't involve any weird or restrictive eating, so why not?

I hope y'all have a great Monday!

Good Morning everyone...

Shirl - good luck with your plans for Clentons Birthday party. And woo hoo on so many Great grand children. You are so lucky to have them close to visit sometimes. I miss out on all of mine. but happy that I get to see them on FB. It's better than nothing. hehehe

Wanda - Sounds like Spring is on it way at your house. Rocking Chairs are out and let the BBQ's begin. hehehe Soon you will be sitting there listening to them waves in the trees. What a deal on them phones too. Did you get a smart phone? emoticon I finally did about a year ago and love it.

Kathryn - Yay summer clothes? hehehe I thought you'd be like us in FL and wear the same all year long. I pull out the long pants for a month or two though... oh and this year had to wear socks too for the first time... must be cus I'm getting old. lol

Today I'm heading to the GI dr... acid reflux has me down so finally taking the plunge. Tomorrow heading to Kissimmee for an appt and will stop and check on Marie and see if she has a plan on when the wake/party will be.
Been getting lots of info about my ex-DH who had a stroke a few months back. He's not doing well. He's my son's father so I have that on my mind too. They just found a spot on his lung too. So much going on that is draining all my positives... But I keep looking for them. That is why I thought I'd stop here and get recharged...
Thanks for the reminder Wanda... emoticon emoticon

Have a great day everyone...

Good morning all,

Monday's challenge is posted so drop on by and see how you are doing.

It's hard to believe that we are half way through March already. Only 6 weeks until the wedding. Shyra finally heard from the wedding coordinator in Mexico. Now we need to go through all the lists she sent and make some decisions. Crunch time!

Kaeli got herself a new cell phone on Saturday. Her phone was so old that it is actually was amazing that the battery still even charged. She got an excellent plan and I ended up talking to the fella about what he could do for Garry and I for phones. Our phones were no longer working properly. It would cost more to get new batteries than it would to get new phones. Yesterday we went in to the city to see about the phones. We ended up with new phones, a better plan and it will cost us $50.00 LESS a month than what I have been paying! SCORE! Sure like the savings!

On Wednesday of this week, I get to go into work a couple of hours later than normal as our Horizon system is being upgraded and considering that it is the program that I do almost all my work on...I won't get much done. I have to be there for when the upgrade is finished in order to check out that all systems are working. I originally was going to take the whole day off...instead I will be only working part of the day. Kismet has an appointment to visit the vet in the afternoon so will be a bit rushed to get home and get her to her appointment but will make it happen.

Time to get going. Happy Monday everyone.

Hugs,
Wanda

Wanda good to hear you had a good time shopping and were able to get some good deals. Also good to hear plans are going well on the wedding too.

Shril emoticon on the new grand babies

Kathy sorry for your loss will understand if you are not posting for a while. Good to hear the scale is going the right way

Positive quote-Feeling discourage by a small weight loss, reverse that, how would you feel if you were gaining a pound a week?

Unpacked my spring clothes today and it was like getting a big bunch of new clothes, such fun. I have also been having fun making low calorie sauces for hubby's dinners. I am not eating dinner at this time just having Slim fast shakes.

Good Morning everyone...it's a lovely day here today. The sun is shining and the snow is almost gone from the backyard. I can see my garden beds and they are looking so inviting. I won't plant in them though until after the long weekend in May as we often get freezing and snow in April and March. This year...who knows!

Mermaid...so sorry to hear about Marie's husband. Prayers and thoughts for all of you. Pop in when you can and remember to look for the positives. Hugs.

Shirl...What a blessing to have so many great grand children. I hear you on getting started with things for the Clenton's party now...the time is just flying by with preparations for Shy and Kyles wedding. We finally got communication happening with the wedding coordinator in Mexico. Now we can make some decisions in that regard. Only 6 weeks until we leave!!

Donna...I have been pinning some super tasty sounding smoothies off of pintrest the past few days. I plan on trying all of them *grin*. Even found a place that makes smoothies from fresh fruit yesterday while we were at the mall. Smoothie for lunch was just perfect! Garry wants to fire up the BBQ for suppertime today...so off to the store to get some fixings. I am buying lots of fresh veggies too so I can make some stir-fry this week. Yep...spring is making itself felt. Garry ended up staying home yesterday while Kaeli and I went on our own to the city. He has the spring bug and hauled the rocking chairs out from storage and got them all spruced up and placed on the front deck. Cleaned out the garage from all the winter muck that gets tracked in and also did some yard clean-up.

Wyndy...thank you for the goodie. It's hard to believe that St. Patricks day is almost upon us.
Hope your gout is better.

Success for Kaeli and I at the mall yesterday. We both found some sandals and Kaeli even scored big time on a couple of cocktail dresses that she was in need of for some company functions at her work. She was able to get two dresses that looked great on her for less than the cost of one of them! A great deal. She scored a great deal on a new cell phone and plan also. Garry and I are heading in today to talk to the same guy as he promised me that he could do the same for us. We are in need of new phones as ours are no longer working properly and don't hold a charge anymore. Besides the fact that we are paying way too much. A smaller monthly bill is in my plans! If I can save money that works for me.

Have a great Sunday
Hugs,
Wanda

Good Morning Sparkies...

Yesterday my friend Marie's husband passed away. My DH made it to the hospital just when they took him off life support and was glad that he was there in time. He was great friends with him for many years. I went and spent time with Marie. She has lots of family and friends there through out the day. There will be no funeral as her DH requested everyone pitch in and have a party. So once everything is figured out and everyone gets to town that is what will happen sometime soon. That is how he was and it sounds perfect to everyone that that is how it should be.
So If I'm not here but just for a few please understand.

But I did want to share... I had gained back 5 or 6 pounds in Feb. But finally got rid of it last week. Yay... So I am finally back on track again.

Have a wonderful day everyone... And I will check in as I can... emoticon

Good morning all. We have clear blue sky and sun this morning. Serenity Sunday is posted. The baby shower was very nice, now we just need to wait for the arrival of those babies. The GD who cuts my hair shared the news with us yesterday that she is expecting her third baby, due sometime in Oct., her youngest will turn 3 the end of April. That will make us 9 great grand kids. I need to leave for church a little early as it's communion Sunday and I and Jean do the set up for that. A.J. is watching the movie Behind the Waterfall, it's a good one. Will pick up lunch on my way home from church.

Wanda it sounds like there will be a really good turn out for ladies night out, what fun.

Donna our temps are getting there we are suppose to be at 66 tomorrow.

Mermaid I need to get the guest list put together so I know how many birthday invites to send out for Clenton's party, I know it seems a bit early but time goes by so quickly and the next thing you know it's here.

Carole have fun trying out smoothie recipes, I think you'll find some to suit your taste.

Kathryn it's a good thing you took your cart along to help get your friend's water home.

Wyndy hope your Gout gets better soon, my son has flare ups of that sometimes and I know how painful he says it is.

Wishing everyone a blessed and serene Sunday!

Hugs,
Shirl

Hi everyone! Beautiful day here today. I worked outside and had my windows open all day, letting the lovely breeze blow through the house. It inspired me to do some cleaning, too. I still have some to go before my company comes!

Kathy, it sounds like you're feeling a bit better. So glad to hear it. I'm happy your trip went so well!

Y'all have a great Sunday!

The sales went well yesterday. My walking buddy had me bring my cart as she wanted to buy two cases of water that were on sale for 2 for $5. The cart was hard to push after we got every thing in it but I was happy for the added exercise. Hubby and I are not walking so much together as he wants to have his walking time as his thinking time. We did walk together on the 3rd. He walks so much slower than me. I need to go to the bathroom half way down town so I walked faster then him to the library to use their bathroom. We planned to meet at a shop down town and I got there about 5 minutes before him, and I don't really walk that fast. I am walking faster than I use to. This week when I walked with my diabetic class I led the walkers and one of the teachers walked with me. She is new and it was nice to get a chance to talk to her about Spark People. I of course had my Spark shirt on. I carry a before photo of me in my hand bag of before joining Spark People and I had lost 40+pounds. I got to show her that too.

I've doing so much research on gout but basically it's a vegetarian diet. Now, with the IBS that's also not good for me so . . . . emoticon

I am not as depressed today though, just took me awhile to get my mind around the implications. And over the pain. Suppose to only last a week, so guess it'll be gone tomorrow, yah, right!

The snow is slowly shrinking. I am so glad I'm not in the Maritimes, they are expecting another 45cm today. They haven't cleaned up from the last storm yet. They've really had a winter from you know where. Yesterday my back tires were encased in ice. The drain is still frozen and we are in the low spot on the street so it backs up and doesn't flow away. The town is opening the drains this weekend, hope they do our street first.

A day at the spa. Oh my, would love to have one. I used to get one every 2 weeks but haven't since that nerve pinch the first of January. I'm a bit hesitant to try it again but guess I'll break down one of these days. I really need one, I think my neck and shoulders are frozen in an upward shrug.

Have a great weekend.
