Kathy, I hope you're feeling better today!

Congratulations, Kathryn! emoticon

The stomach bug visited me overnight. I haven't thrown up in hours, but the other issue won't quite resolve itself and I can't really get completely vertical yet. But I did get a shower so that's progress! Jim, my SO, is making me something bland to eat. Hopefully that'll get me back on track.

I hope everyone's enjoying your Sunday!

Good Morning everyone,

I am sorry I didn't get a chance to get online yesterday. The girls and I left early in the morning for the city and didn't get back until suppertime. I think we hit every store possible in the West Edmonton Mall looking for dresses. Tried on several but nothing that any of us were excited about. We did stop at David's Bridal on the way home and made an appointment for Thursday evening to see what they might have. We were thrilled to find out that Shyra's dress had arrived and we were able to bring it home with us. She has her first fitting on March 5. She is coming over sometime in the next couple of days to try it on so we can be sure it can be done up. They had ordered the wrong size the first time and the zipper wouldn't quite make it all the way to the top. It fit everywhere except for the chest...so hopefully this time it is good! So exciting.

Part of the problem with finding dresses for Kaeli and I is that the spring and summer stuff isn't out yet and all the dresses we were seeing were too heavy for a Mexico wedding. We pretty much need to buy off the rack as there isn't enough time to have something made and fitted properly through one of the stores as they tell us it would take a minimum of 10 weeks!

We did have a great day together though, got lots of walking in and I was really good on my choices at lunch time. Shyra and I shared a sandwich and we both had a side salad. Got 2 glasses of water into me at lunch too.

Mermaid...hope you cold is better and you can have surgery. I have tomorrow off work as I have to go for my final checkup for my knee. My appointment is not until 9:40 am and we have to go into the city, so no sense going to work at all. (at least it sounded like a good reason to me *grin*)

Shirl...how's your knee doing? Have you been able to do any walking? It is so strange here this winter...our snow is almost all gone! We are supposed to be heading back into normal temperatures for this time of year by next week. This has been the best winter yet in my opinion!

Donna...I live in Alberta Canada...about mid point in the province. Winters for us usually involve lots of snow and very cold temperatures...this year we aren't sure what has happened! I grew up in the far north though and we used to laugh that we had 9 months of good sledding and 3 months of slush sledding! Where we are now we usually get our first snow fall the end of October and are able to plant our gardens the May long weekend.

Kathryn...I'm thrilled to say that I have eliminated 2 pounds this week! I'm working on catching up to you *grin*. Thank you for being such an inspiration.

Mauri...tax time! I have to get things together and get ours done too. We don't usually get our stuff from our employers until February, so can only do so much before then. Have a great day.

Have a wonderful Sunday everyone.

Hugs,
Wanda

Donna I will cook you chicken livers any time as long as you share. They are one of hubby's and mine favorite. I have not made beef liver in a long time, just have not seen it in the store.

Kathy emoticon About saying nice things to ourselves, I have a sign on my full length mirror "Be your own kind of beautiful".

Shril enjoy your livers, wish I was eating at your place today

Took a nice long walk with my walking buddy today. We went to a few stores and Starbucks. One store I have never been to before and it was just crammed with a lot of stuff I did not want priced way out of my range. But on the positive side they did have some Christmas stuff marked half off that I picked up

Donna - I knitted one thing and that was a hat... and that was it. lol Now Crocheting I can do or could do. My arthritis acts up a lot and keeps me from doing big projects now. But I used to love to crochet. I made my grandkids blankets and I made a giant Winnie that poo bear that I stuffed and a giant happy face blanket for my DD. But knitting nope... hehehe Enjoy your quiet knitting and when your SO get in... enjoy then wings... YUM! Love them.

Well I'm still blowing and all. Seems like the sudafed I took this morning did nothing. So trying a different kind now. And keeping the fluids going.

Have a good evening...

I love beef liver and onions, but for some reason I'm not all that keen on chicken livers. Maybe I just need y'all to cook them for me! haha

It's supposed to warm up each day into the mid-hi 70s by mid-week, then down again to a high chance of snow by the weekend. Ugh, just make up your mind. I'm ready for spring. That's my favorite season!

My SO is about to go out and zero in a rifle sight and I'll probably knit while the house is quiet. I'm working on a lace pattern and his personality makes it hard to concentrate on the intricacies. Haha it's a trade-off! He made a wonderful sweet, spicy sauce for the chicken wings he marinated all night, and which he'll cook when he returns. I'm pretty excited about that!

I work this evening and tomorrow evening. I moonlight at a friend's funeral home and occasionally fill in holding down the fort in the evenings (answering phones, doing a little of the endless paperwork, and greeting visitors) and for family visitations. The money is good and the work is super easy, and it feels good to provide a service to people who are unhappy. I try not to work more than one evening while my SO is home for the weekend, but it just worked out that way this time and the extra little paycheck will come in handy. I'm lucky Jim is understanding when I occasionally do it.

I hope y'all have a great Saturday!

Good Morning Sparkies...

Happy Saturday...

Donna - Glad you didn't get much of that Snow but hope you don't loose anything in the next cold front coming through. Our weather people can't make up their minds. One email I got says lows in the 30's coming and then just saw the weather on tv and they are saying lows in the 40's... so I'll take the 40's I guess. hehehe

Shirl - I love Fried chicken Livers but have only had the beef lover and onions a couple times way back in my life that I can remember. I could sit and eat a whole pound of the chicken livers by myself. hehehe So I do not make them very often. I only like them fried... But I'm getting good at less flour on them and less oil to cook them in... hehehe Enjoy yours and your company today.

As for the cold... Yep I'm drinking lots of OJ and other fluids to flush this cold away.

Oh almost forgot... Yesterday I weighed in and was up 1 pound and today it's gone again so basically I've stayed the same. I'll take it and see what next week holds...

Hope that you all have a wonderful weekend...

Good morning. It's starting out as a gray morning, we did see a little sun yesterday, so maybe we'll see it some today. Silly Saturday is posted, hope you can find some laughter in your day. I plan to get the liver & onions done before everyone gets here, will cook and then put in a pan in the oven to keep warm as I am making a good sized batch, GD's DH is a big boy with a big appetite. Yesterday I was able to keep my calories at the low end, will try and not go over the middle range today, I had a Sweet Berry Blast smoothie for breakfast. Hope all have a great Saturday.

Mermaid hope you can kick that cold before your surgery.

Hugs,
Shirl

Kathy, I'm in the SE panhandle of Texas, between Amarillo and Wichita Falls. We didn't get much at all, but got some rain and the little snow we had wasn't too messy (because of ground temps) but welcome moisture. Amarillo, an hour & a half NW of us, got a foot! They've had more snow than Anchorage, where my sister lives. I lived there for a couple of years after high school, and we had a LOT of snow while I was there. It's been an insanely warm, dry winter there this year.

We're supposed to have a short streak of really warm weather, which will probably allow everything to bud out. Then the temps are going to drop quite a bit again. I hope we don't lose anything.

I'm sorry to hear you've caught your hub's cold! Why do they always share things like THAT with us? hahaha Chug that water - you don't have to digest it and it flushes lots of nasties out. The vitamin C in all that tasty OJ is a good idea, too. I sure hope you're feeling better soon!

Good Afternoon Sparkies...

Well It's official... I now have Andy's cold. hehehe Thanks honey just what I wanted and right before my surgery. I still have 4 days to kick it so I'm drinking OJ like crazy. They had me stop my One a day vitamin so that was helping to fight it off too. Oh well if they have to reschedule then that is what we will do. I will wait and see how I feel on Monday or when the Day Surgery place calls me since the Dr. office did not answer when I tried to call them earlier.

Wanda - You are too funny. No I did not kill him. But bopping him over the head with a not so wet noodle crossed my mind. LOL Just happy that we have all moved on to another day.
Enjoy your shopping. Hope you all find all that you are looking for and something beautiful for you to wear. hehehe

Donna - Wanda lives Way up north almost to the NORTH POLE... Bahahaha We southerners call it the GREAT WHITE NORTH... Actually it's Alberta Canada... lol I think she has like 2 weeks of summer there... Being the mermaid I believe am she only lets me Splash her for that many days and after that she starts throwing snowballs at me. hehehe
So what part of TX are you in? Did you get a bunch of snow?

We are supposed to be getting some rain. It's overcast now and has been most of the day.

Shirl - So glad that you enjoyed you Anniversary meal yesterday and I wouldn't have logged it all either. It's a special day and only happens once. I mean 49 years... How wonderful is that. You are so lucky my friend. Hope that Andy and I last that long... without me wanting to bop him on the head with a that noodle. hehehe

Kathryn - You are right... You know... for as long as I can remember I have thought that I've never liked the way I looked. Even when I was skinny or at a good weight. I look back at pictures and think what the heck was wrong with me. And it's all in my head how I feel about myself... so we need to start some positive affirmations... look in the mirror and tell ourselves how wonderful and good we look and so on... I've never been good at this... so I know I need to give it a try again... think I'll bring this up in my next therapy session. Bahahaha
Shhh don't tell Wanda else it'll pop up in one of the Challenges... hehehe

ok I'm off to make some Taco's... Have a wonderful day everyone...

Shril sorry your knee is hurting so much. Good to hear you had a really nice dinner for your emoticon I wouldn't track some thing like that too. It only comes once a year, I know you didn't pig out, just enjoyed yourself a little extra

Kathy sorry you had such a rough day, hope today is better. It is hard when our love ones are having a rough day. Your stuffing recipe sounds really good, I think for us I would just use one can Rotel tomatoes and not have too many tomatoes. I don't really like canned tomatoes except the Rotel.

Wanda good to hear you got a chance to get a walk yesterday, Enjoy your shopping and I hope you find just the right dress for mother of the bride.

Donna I lived a short while in Texas and still have family there. It is a big state like CA and both have varied weather. I lived in San Antonio and the first winter there I was surprised by the snow.

I tried kiwi yesterday for the first time in over 20 years. It was okay, I could eat it with out gagging but would never do it again. It is a pretty fruit but not some thing I like.

Positive quote-Embrace the glorious mess that you are.

Yes I am not at the weight I want and don't like what I see in the mirror but this is me. I only have one body, time to start loving it as it is. If I love it I would want to make healthy changes that would improve it. So time for me to change how I feel for the better.

Good morning. Kind of gray out this morning, hope we see some sun sometime today, it's 27 out. We enjoyed our lunch at Applebee's, but my calorie range was way over, but I enjoyed it all anyways and did not track food except for breakfast. After we got done eating went to the Dollar Tree and then to Walmart, by the time we got home knee was pretty swollen, I fixed my ice bag and put it on the knee, I am afraid Margaret and I won't be walking for a while. We received another beautiful Bourget of flowers yesterday from our youngest DD and her DH, I posted a picture on yesterday's blog. This morning is coffee hour, I'll go down to chat and have a cup of coffee, but don't need a treat as I all ready had breakfast. We watched the movie Pink Panther 2 last night on Netflix's, it made us laugh.

Wanda wedding time will be here before you know it, what fun.

Mermaid that recipe would be a good one to fix for one of our potlucks, may just have to try it, it sounds good and easy to put together, thanks for sharing.

Kathryn keep those good quotes coming, you do a great job with them.

Donna this is what goes into the Sweet Berry Blast and I use my Magic Bullet

1 handful of spinach
1 cup blueberries
1/2 cup greek yogurt
1 Tbs. almonds
to Max Line Almond Milk(I use Original Unsweetened Silk Vanilla Almond Milk)

Add all solid ingredients into tall cup.
Fill to Max line with liquids.
Blend until smooth, approximately 30 seconds

I found this on the nutriliving site
http://nutriliving.com/recipes

I just picked up some frozen fruit at Dollar Tree yesterday to put in my smoothies, strawberries, peaches and mango, I all ready have frozen kiwis and blueberries in my freezer.

Well guess I'll go on down to the community room and chat with the ladies, you all have a fab Friday.

Hugs,
Shirl

Yay for Friday! I’m off this afternoon and I’m planning a NAP! Whoop! It’s 30º here this morning, but crisp and clear. The snow here is mostly gone. I’m grateful for the rain and snow and that we didn’t get anything nasty and dangerous. My old black Lab has been stuck in the house and is needed some time outside, so she’ll get some this afternoon while I’m home. (Labs are very well suited for cold, but she’s older and has some arthritis in her right shoulder, so I try not to leave her out at night when the temp is below 30º.) But she’s happier when she can play outside, kind of like all of us!

Wanda, where are you exactly? South Texas rarely gets snow, except in the mountain regions, but we get snow and ice: not as much as the northern parts of the panhandle, but we get it, and ice even more so. It’s easy to forget how diverse and big Tx is! It’s wonderful to hear you talk about rainwater collection. That’s one of the things the little company I work for does – design, installation and maintenance of r/w collection systems. As much drought as we have around here, it’s such an obvious solution, but a lot of folks just don’t get it! I’m glad you had a chance to get some walking in! Walmart has a store brand frozen fruit blend called Cherry Berry Blend – dark cherries, red cherries, blueberries and strawberries – that I absolutely LOVE in smoothies! The SP app has a barcode scanner that’s super easy to use to find your ingredients, then you can put in the amounts you used. It’s been helpful for tracking my smoothies. That peach sounds yummy!

Y’all have a great day! Happy Friday! emoticon

Good Morning all,

We had such a beautiful day outside yesterday, plus 10! Unheard of in January around here. It's been so nice of late that there are sections of sidewalks that have cleared off completely from the snow and ice. Shy and I found a lovely long section yesterday and took our break at lunch time together and walked up and down that section for 25 minutes. It was so nice to be outside and walking. Depending on the weather today, it might be a repeat.

Tomorrow the girls and I are heading into the city to look for a bridesmaid dress for Kaeli and have a look to see what is available for me to wear also. We will lunch in the city and hopefully will be getting lots of walking in also. Tomorrow is my weight in day so hoping for some downward moving on the scale.

I made up a lovely fruit smoothie with added protein powder to have for breakfast this morning. I had to make it up last night and keep in the fridge as the blender is too loud to use at 5am! I'm not sure how to figure out the exact calories on it, but will give it a go. I used Almond/coconut milk for the liquid so that is low in calories as well as pineapple, blueberries, strawberries and a couple slices of peach. I love smoothies any time of the day.

Shirl...the flowers you received are beautiful. So glad that you and Clenton were able to go out for dinner to celebrate 49 years together. We are coming up on 41 year this year. Don't know where the time has gone. We get to celebrate it in Mexico and the next day Shyra and Kyle get married! It should be a great time. Our weather has been really crazy this winter. Not complaining though as it's been nice to not have to shovel snow and deal with minus 40 temperatures as usual.
Have a great day my friend. Hugs.

Mermaid...Sorry that Andy was having a bad day yesterday, remember that you don't have too. Good for you for looking for your positives...i.e. You didn't kill him! *grin*. Hope today is a great day. Hugs. PS...thanks for the recipe.

Kathryn...I thought of you yesterday as I got to walk outdoors in the sunshine. You are such an inspiration to me. Thank you.

Donna...I find it so strange that you get snow in Texas! Considering how much further north we are from you and we have been having crazy mild weather of late. I have a feeling though that we might be experiencing drought conditions with the lack of snow so far this winter. Oh well, just have to be smarter about watering my garden and making sure that my rain barrels are all connected to catch as much as possible. I need to get some of my seeds started by the end of this month. Will have to start them in the house in order to give them a long enough growing season. I am so looking forward to being able to have my garden again. Enjoy your day.

Mauri, Carole, and anyone else that pops in...thinking of you and wishing you a wonderful Friday.

Time to head out the door for work.

Hugs,
Wanda

Kathy, it is really uplifting to pop in here when you need a boost. I'm happy I found this team. The chicken dish sounds yummy! I like Stove Top Stuffing but I never think to buy it. My mama used to make some once in a while and I always enjoyed it. I'll have to try this one. Thanks for sharing the recipe!

I hope your day is going better! emoticon

Good Afternoon Sparkies...

Well today is a really good day for me to be here... I used to come here when i was having a really bad day and well that would be today... I won't go into it but lets just say my DH is having the really bad day and it's overflowing onto me... emoticon
So I was just going to say hello But then remembered it was Shirl's Anniversary So will say emoticon Shirl and Clenton... Hope you enjoy your lunch together... Wow 49 years. I pray I can make it that long after today. hehehe Loved your flowers that were given to you both. You are one lucky lady.

Wanda - Glad that things are coming together at work and hope that things get dried out and repaired soon and that the kids get their area back soon too.

Donna & Kathryn - That Brischetta Chicken bake was very good. We both liked it.
The recipe was on the box of stove top... but if you can't find it...

1 box reduced sodium stove top chicken flavor
1 14 oz can diced tomatoes (I also added 1 can ro*tel or tomatoes with diced chili's) if you like a little x-tra kick
1/2 cup water (reduce to 1/4 cup water if you add the ro*tel)
2 garlic cloves ( I just used some minced teaspoon or so)
- mix all the above together and set aside

1 & a half pound of boneless chicken breast cut into bite size pieces (It doesn't say to but I browned it just a little)
1 teaspoon basil leaves
1 cup Mozzarella cheese

In a 13 x 9 pan or casserole dish layer the chicken then sprinkle with the basil leaves and then cheese... Top with the stuffing mixture.
Bake 400 degrees for 30 minutes or until you think it's done...

With just the 2 of us we have enough for maybe 3 meals. hehehe So that is what is for dinner tonight... Yum can't wait.

Donna - I saw that Tx was getting Snow this morning... Stay warm. lol
We were nice and warm here today... But I think they say we are getting some rain coming in a day or so. But that is ok with me. We can always use it.

Ok I need to go find some positive for this day. It was way back when Wanda taught me that when I was at my lowest that that is when I need to look for them and then I always felt better. So will go work on that.

Good morning, all! We had a little snow during the night, but it stayed warm enough that the roads were fine here. Areas north and west of us got quite a bit more. Amarillo got 6”. I’m so thankful for the moisture!

Shirl, happy anniversary! I’m so sorry you’re having trouble with your knee. So miserable, and the cold sure doesn’t help. I’d love to know what all you put in your smoothie this morning.

Wanda, thank goodness all is getting settled at work. What a bad deal that was, but it could have been so much worse! I’m glad to hear everyone works well together. That’s invaluable when catastrophes happen. Thank you so much for the kind words; that made my morning!

Kathy, I couldn’t agree more. When that scale registers a lower weight, it sure makes me smile!! I hope the Reclast IV works well for you. Still no side effects? The Bruschetta chicken sounds wonderful! If the recipe was a success, share it! Carbs are my weakness as well. I have to remind myself: all things in moderation!

Cheryl, happy anniversary a day late to you, too! And happy belated birthday to your daughter – what a special anniversary gift she was!

Carole, yoga today, yay! I love it. I have a handful of great dvds, but I noticed the Jiu Jitsu studio here will be offering classes a couple of times a week. May have to check that out!

Kathryn, I’m with Wanda – I look forward to your daily quotes!

Y’all have a happy day – stay safe and warm!

Good morning. We had snow again during the night and it looks like we might get some light flurries today. This was my weigh in day and I am glad to say down 1 lb. I wish I could have got more walking in, but the knee wouldn't cooperate, it's swollen this morning, will see how it does over the weekend and if no better will call my arthritis doctor, I don't like the sound it makes when walking. Looking forward to our lunch at Applebee's this afternoon, 49 years ago this day we were getting married in the evening and the weather was like a blizzard, glad it's not like that today. Received a delivery of a lovely bouquet of flowers from our DD, SIL and GS last evening, will see if I can post a picture on my blog. I had a smoothie for breakfast wanted to keep it light today.

Wanda sounds like everything is under control where you work, it's so nice when everyone pitches in and adapts to the situation.

Mermaid glad to here your procedure went ok and you haven't had any bad side effects.

Kathryn, Carole, Donna, Mauri and whoever else might drop in have a wonderful Thursday.

Hugs,
Shirl

Good Morning all,

Well things are progressing at work. Damage is all contained now. Barriers are up and in place to keep people out of that area of the library, but still allow them access to most areas. Fans are going and will be for about a week they say. Wet drywall all removed. Wet books have now all been tracked and listed and our department spent yesterday morning deleting them all from the system and sending them off to recycle. What a soggy job that was. On the plus side...it was all clean water that saturated the books. Unfortunately many of the children's programs have had to be cancelled for the next couple of weeks as the programs rooms are part of the area that was damaged. Some of the programs get to continue, just in different locations in the building. What a great staff we have, everyone has pulled together to make the changes necessary and to help out where needed.

Kaeli says thank you for the Birthday wishes. We are getting together this weekend for some celebrating and girl time.

Mermaid...glad you aren't having any side effects from the procedure. I like stepping on the scale each morning too...it helps me stay on track for the day as well encourages me to keep on going. I still have one day of the week that I use as my "weigh in" day and that is when I record things. I also keep in mind that it is not just the scale that tells me if I am doing well, it's how my clothes fit and how I feel. Have a great day today. Hugs.

Carole...way to go on your challenges. I really need to start adding my weights back into my routine. Walking is great, but I also need to build some muscle strength and do some toning.

Donna...Thank you for being an inspiration to me.

Kathryn...your quotes are so good...thank you for doing them. You always manage to find the perfect ones. Hope your weather is making your walking nice.

Shirl...keep warm and safe. How's the knee doing?

Whoops...time is getting away from me...See you all later.

Hugs,
Wanda

Good afternoon Sparkies...

Donna - I agree with you on the weighing myself and it doesn't bother me if I'm up or down but helps me make corrections if I need to for my actual weigh in day at the end of the week. And if I'm down it makes me feel good. hehehe
And thanks... So far no side effects from the Reclast IV from yesterday. Thank goodness.
Hope your weather doesn't get too bad. I saw where it is going to cool back down.

Kathryn - I don't think that I'll be keeping this loss fluid... my fluids go up and down all the time. hehehe But it would be nice. hehehe And yes I do weigh every morning. It helps me figure out what I need to do for the day.
We are going to try a Bruschetta chicken bake recipe I found on the stove top stuffing box. It looks good and will probably be enough for several meals. And it will be higher in carbs... but I don't have to eat a lot of the stuffing. lol I think I've finally got my carbs back under control again. My weakness are breads and sweets mainly cookies and such. Good luck with your meal. Hope you enjoy it.

Wanda - I hope that they have got a good bit of that damage cleaned up for you before you even got there today. hehehe Wishful thinking eh? hehehe so happy that no one was hurt. That was a true blessing. Oh and Happy birthday to Kaeli! Hope that she has a wonderful day...
Now this is so strange. But I know at least 5 people that are having a birthday today. My other Spark team Leader Cheryl... well her Husband Rich is 75 today... woo hoo AND their Daughter it's her birthday too. Can you imagine having to come up with a special surprise for 2 each year for 30 something years? hehehe AND my tenant is having a birthday today too and another spark friends as well. Popular day for sure.

Shirl - glad that you don't have to go out in that snow today... Stay in and stay warm. Hope your knee is not bothering you today. Enjoy your time out at Applebee's tomorrow.

Carole - Oh wow that BLC challenge sounds tough... OUCH! I hurt thinking about it. hehehe Good luck with it. And don't over do it. That is something I always do. hehehe

Not much happening here today... I took Penny to Walmart and I returned a runner that I had picked up yesterday. It was too small and just did not look good. So got another one which we both like more. Our poor little town just has a Walmart so I have to wait until I can get out to another area to look around for other ones... So maybe the next time I go to Kissimmee I can look while I'm there.

Have a good day everyone...

Hello everyone!
Wanda-oh my goodness! Here we were praying for a snow day at work and you got off with a pipe burst. Not that I'd wish that on anyone. Glad no one was hurt. Yikes.

Weigh in day for me and I'm down .8! I'll take it! Tonight is a school fundraiser at McDonalds. I'll be eating a salad. emoticon

The work challenges have started up again. This one is only for a month. Same as last time, buddy up and work our way around the world. Its fun. I invited my employee to do it with me this time as last time I thought she didn't want to do it and when she asked me if I would be her partner, I had already found one. Guilt.

This BLC challenge I'm doing is tough! The Toning program is following the Navy Seals program of fitness. emoticon I added some weights on top of it all today and whoa. I'm toast. Yoga will feel so good tomorrow or not. Depending whether she twists us into pretzels or not. emoticon

Hope everyone is staying warm! Or cool depending on where you are! emoticon

Kathryn, that's a really good quote and an important thing to remember.

I weigh a few times a week. It really helps me stay on track and make small adjustments. It doesn't crush me if I go up, it just shows me what may or may not be working. Being more diligent and analytical about the scale has taught me some great lessons!

Wanda sorry there was such a mess at work, glad no one got hurt
Kaeli emoticon

Kathy emoticon on the weight loss. Seems like you are like me and weigh in almost every day. I have read that it is good or bad depending on how you handle it. When I get on the scale and I am up a pound I work harder to stay on track the next day or so. I had a heavy meal last night and thought for sure the scale would be up but it was not. Tonight I am having a high carb meal 'gette, one of hubby's favorite meals. I make enough for two days. We both have one slice of garlic bread with that and of course salad.

Positive quote-Admit to yourself and realize that you didn't put it on in one day and therefore you're not going to take it off in one day

I really need to listen to this quote and do it. It is going to take some time and work to get these pounds off. They came on easy, by over eating and now I have to make wise food choices and get on the ball. I say this almost every day, this year I am going to stop just saying it and just do it!!!

Happy birthday to Kaeli!

Shirl, sounds like a winter wonderland. Stay warm! We're expecting the freezing rain turning to snow this evening and into tomorrow. I don't mind the snow part, but hope we don't get too much dangerous junk.

Happy Wednesday to everyone who pops in!

Good morning. We had snow again overnight and it's still snowing, but it's the fine stuff, I guess we had some freezing rain sometime last night before the snow. I don't plan on going out today. Seeing we are going to Applebee's tomorrow and Walmart is right behind there if we need something we can get it then.

Wanda sorry to hear about your disaster at the library, but glad no one was hurt and it did happen while people were there in the building, it would have caused so much more damage if no one had been there. Happy Birthday to Kaeli, hope she has a great day.

Wishing all a great Wednesday!

What a day!

We had a major disaster at work today. Thankfully it happened while we were at work and just before the doors opened to the public. One of the main hot water heating pipes burst in the ceiling in our Children's Enchanted forest area and became a Rainforst complete with waterfall. On the plus side...there were no children yet in the area and the staff that could hear water gushing and were trying to locate moved out from under the ceiling in that section just before the ceiling came down with all the hot water. Lots of damage, but its just stuff and can be replaced. It certainly could have been much worse it the pipe had burst when no one was there to take immediate action or if someone had gotten scalded. There are chemicals in the water also so could have been really bad. Carpets, lighting, ceiling and books can be replaced. We were still able to open the library, but closed off the complete back section of the library with gates, so front and second level were still available to public. No computers in that area so no sparking occurred. On the plus side, I got to come home early from work as when they county finally got the water shut off, it also meant no heat in the building. Middle of winter and minus 40 outside would have been horrible, but plus 2 and unusually mild...not so bad!
Nothing is ever dull in the library *grin*.

Good morning, everyone! Another pretty day to enjoy before the bottom falls out. From upper 70s yesterday to a forecast of 80% chance of snow on Thursday, then back up into the 50s on Friday. Head shake.

Wanda, yuck on the grocery shopping. That is NOT one of my favorite chores, but then I don't like any kind of shopping. I need to go as well and probably will after work, too. Give your Garry plenty of TLC!

Shirl, I hope your exercising went well today. I hate that you're having knee problems. That's no fun at all!

Kathy, good luck with the Reclast. I hope all goes well and you have little or no side effects!

Y'all have a happy day!

Good morning Sparkies...

Happy Tuesday to you all...

Today I go for my first annual IV of Reclast medication for my bones. Sure hope it helps. Also hope that it does not bring on Flu like symptoms like they said it might. Always something huh? hehehe I'm also fighting a cold that I'm sure I'm catching from Andy. I stopped and got him some meds yesterday that he said did not help so hoping he gets some that will. ugh Men! They do not take care of themselves very well do they. hehehe Between Andy and Foxy they were having coughing fits early this morning which finally made me give up on sleeping. So I just got up and gave foxy her med's early. Poor baby... Now if he would just open wide and let me shove his pills down his throat maybe I could go back to sleep. Bahahaha

Wanda - Good luck with Garry. Hope he does not pass on that cold to you. Thank you for you thoughts on my surgery. And yes is it outpatient/day surgery... in and out the same morning.
Still waiting for the hospital to call to confirm on the time that they schedule.
As for them 4 pounds 2 came back already. hehehe darn fluid weigh drives me crazy... hehehe But hey it's ok... it will come back off.

Shirl - Glad you are listening to your knee. Did you call in for a shot? No fun I know but sounds like you need it. UGH. Glad you are choosing the exercises today instead. Think I will go for a walk in Walmart for YOU today. hehehe Well I may benefit from it too. hehehe

I was a little over on my calorie range yesterday so hoping to get control of that today. My carb thing has been going crazy for days... I think it's partly my nerves with all that is going on with the surgery and all.

Kathryn - Thanks for your positive Quotes each day... I really need to listen to this one from yesterday and get myself back on track. Not that I'm way off track but I need to rain in those feelings that I want to eat them cookies now! LOL

Wyndy - Hope you and your Hubby are having a wonderful trip in Hawaii... emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Donna, Carole, Mauri, and who ever else stops in Have a wonderful day.

Good morning. It's snowing started sometime early this morning. Going to do exercise this morning, I know there are some I won't be able to do because of the knee but will do what I can, I don't think I'll be walking as that really seems to stir it up. Was at the high end of my calorie range yesterday, but it was all good, healthy food, so today will try and keep it at the low end. There was a resident potluck last night but we didn't go. Looking forward to going out for lunch on Thursday, we have a gift certificate to Applebee's and will be going there.

Wanda hope Garry will take care of himself, men are so bad about admitting that they might have to take something to get feeling better.

Mermaid you'll probably feel so much better after you have the surgery, but it's normal to be a little anxious, will keep you in prayer.

Kathryn keep making those good choices.

Wyndy hope you and DH are both feeling lots better and will enjoy your time in Hawaii.

Donna, Carole, Mauri and whoever else drops by have a great Tuesday!

Good Morning all,

Poor Garry has a chest cold and was coughing away all night. Hopefully he will listen to his body and do what is needed...but knowing him, he won't!

Mermaid...Woo Hoo new floors. So much easier to keep clean especially when you have pets. I would say way to go on the 4 pounds, but I'm sure you didn't enjoy eliminating them as water only! Still 4 pounds is 4 pounds so congratulations no matter how you did it *grin*. You are doing so well. Thinking of you and asking for peace and calm as you go in for surgery next week. You will probably feel so much better once your hernia is fixed. Is it day surgery? Hugs.

Kathryn...good for you for choosing a lighter calorie option to eat. I need to go buy groceries soon! I'm out of fresh veggies and low on fruit. Will try and do it after work today. Enjoy your walking today.

Shirl...Sorry that your knee is giving you some issues. Hope you can do your walking today.
I need to get my New Year's letter done...just realized that I haven't done it yet for this year. I am not usually so late in doing it. Sigghhh. Last year was a pretty uneventful year so not much to write about, but I'm sure there will be something to find to share if I think hard enough. *grin*. Have a great day.

Mauri...thinking of you.

Have a great day everyone,

Good evening, my day got away from me again. It's been a real drab day in the lower 30's. Margaret and I went for a walk this afternoon, but I didn't get in the full hour only 45 min. as my knee started hurting, may just have to see about getting a shot in it.

Donna sorry about your fall, that happened a few year ago to me, tripped in a parking lot and went down, ended up having the scope surgery, actually have had that on both my knees. Those falls can happen so quick and you lay there wondering what in the heck happened.

Wanda hooray on the suit for Garry, it sounds really nice. Have fun shopping this weekend with the girls.

Kathryn good for you for not buying that breakfast sandwich.

Everyone have a good evening.

emoticon Sparkies...

Today I got all my pre-op testing done for my hernia surgery next Wednesday. I should be hearing from the hospital to let me know what time for sure it will be sometime soon. Deep breaths... trying not to think about. I know it will all be ok but it's still a little anxiety provoking. hehehe

Last night sleep was not as good as normal. I think it was the new floor. It seemed a little cooler and there is an echo plus I kept waking up to go to the bathroom. Got rid 4 pounds last night that way. hehehe

Wanda - Glad that you found a nice suit for Garry. I'm sure it will be lots more fun and giggles finding them bridesmaids dresses and hoping you enjoy the journey finding one for you too.

Kathryn - Nice that you chose well on your breakfast. I love croissants. But they are one I can't stop with just one. hehehe And yes I've been doing a very low carb diet. So I think that is why I was craving them. I do good for a while then I have to have some . hehehe

Now I forget what I read. I think I'm getting Andy's cold. ugh...

Hope that everyone had a good day. emoticon

Every day you spend drifting away from your goal is a waste not only of that day but also of the additional day it takes to regain lost ground

I had planned to but a breakfast sandwich at the supermarket until I saw how many calories it was 500, no thank you. A Starbucks croissant is only 260 and just as filling. My walking buddy and I are going to the Starbucks in the supermarket and we had planned to have sandwiches from the deli because they are on sale, but I am going to pass.

Yes, shopping success! Good quality clothes like suits are a good investment. They always end up being worn more than expected, and last much longer than lower quality. Good on you!

I'm a little sore today but not as much as I expected. Y'all have a great Monday!

Good Morning all,

Monday, Monday...silly song is running through my mind. I have a busy day at work ahead of me. I need to finish receiving the shipment that arrived on Friday. Shipments are starting to arrive once again which is great.

Donna...hope your knees aren't bruised too badly. Ouch! That's what I did a couple of years ago, only I tripped as I was going up the stairs to our back deck. I ended up finally with an artificial knee as I shattered my knee cap and severed my medial ligament. All is great now though...loving my new knee. Have a great day at work today.

Kathryn...It's great to have a walking buddy that you can enjoy walking and chatting with. When you are chatting you don't really even notice the amount of walking that you do. You may not be eliminating weight at the moment, but it sounds as though you are building muscle and tightening up things if you are having to hike your pants up. Way to go! Have a great day.

Shirl...another great weekend of having AJ over to visit by the sounds of it. It is so wonderful that you get to spend such great times together. I didn't do as much walking yesterday as what I would have liked to, but I did stay within my calorie range with no problem. I will step things up again today using Monday's challenge to keep me motivated. Enjoy your day my friend.

Garry and I ended up going to St. Albert yesterday to deliver my SIL's glasses that she had forgotten at Boston Pizza when we met for lunch on Saturday. We didn't stop, just dropped and got going again as we wanted to see what we could find for a nice summer weight suit for Garry for the wedding. SUCCESS! we found a beautiful light grey color suit that looks very good on him. Got the shirt and tie to boot. We paid a little more than what we had intended, but like I said to Garry...we have two more weddings in the next while that you can wear it for as well as some other functions to attend. It's not going to gather dust in the closet. One more item crossed off the list of "to do's" . Next weekend the girls and I are heading out to see about a bridesmaid dress for Kaeli and maybe something for me.

Mermaid, Carole, Mauri...and whomever else pops by...have a wonderful Monday.

Hugs,
Wanda

Sounds like everyone has had a good weekend. Ours, too, except I fell off my back step today. I have no idea how! But I'm okay, my knees will probably be bruised and my right arm and shoulder are a little sore. It scared me and made me mad more than anything! Other than that, the weekend was beautiful and restful, thank goodness.

My SO is off tomorrow for the holiday, but I will be working. Plowing through more work, yippee! I love my job!

Positive quote-Expect great things today.

Wanda good to hear you had a nice family night

Shril good to hear you are having fun watching movies with AJ

Kathy great that you are getting new floors. You say you are craving carbs? Are you cutting your carbs back to far. I have been craving meat and I know why I do not eat enough. I need to work on that.

Went walking to the supermarket with my walking buddy and we are going tomorrow again. I enjoy my walks with her, we talk a lot about every thing. She is 10 years older than me and has had surgery to remove part of a lung due to cancer but she can keep right up with me.
Dr Phil's diet book did not turn out very well. The book was the "20/20 Diet" and talked about eating these 20 things every day and you will lose weight. Funny I don't eat these things and have lost 40 pounds. I need to just get back on track and stop eating over my calorie range for the day. The weight is not coming off me right now but because I have increase my core exercises my pants are feeling loser and I have to hick them up all the time.

Good Morning everyone,

A late night last night as Kaeli and Sylvain called to see if they could come over for a night of games. We had so much fun playing a new game they got called Farkle. Lots of laughs and giggles. We realized part way through one of the games that we hadn't been doing something right so then the competition was really on!

We didn't get into the city yesterday to see about a suit for Garry, will try again today. My eldest brother and his wife came out to where we live and we met up for lunch and a visit. It was great to spend time together with them. Jan forgot her glasses at BP's so we went back and got them and are taking them out to them this afternoon.

Shy and Kyle are dropping the dog off for us to mind tonight as they are heading into the city to watch a hockey game. Shy won some free tickets.

I finally got my new fitbit all sync'd and ready to go. The one the girls had given me for my birthday had a missing part. Actually the part that I needed in order to set it up. It has now arrived and I hopefully have it all set up correctly and ready to record my steps. Guess I will find out tonight!

Kathryn...We carry all Dr. Phils books in our library. He is very popular. Has some good advice although I don't watch his show much at all anymore as it comes on when I am at work.

Mermaid....yay! new floors. You will be so happy to have all that carpet gone. Enjoy your day. Post some pictures of new floors, I would love to see them.

Shirl...have a great day today also.

Garry is telling me to hurry up as he wants to get going....see you all later.

Hugs,
Wanda

Good Morning Sparkies...

Happy Serenity Sunday to you all...

Well we are off and running this morning. A couple of our friends are here helping to install our new bedroom laminate flooring. I'm so happy. I made them all a nice big breakfast and sent them off to work. That stinky old carpet is gone and the flooring is going down as we speak. Can't say there will be much serenity around here today but I'm ok with that today. hehehe

Not sure what is wrong with me but I've been craving carbs/sweets since last night. Hoping that I can get it out of my system. I am making a cinnamon swirl bread this morning and hope that helps. Just got to craving it. UGH... Hate when that happens. lol

Shirl - Sounds like things are warming up for you a little. We were about 50 this morning on our back porch when I looked out. But with all the movement already around here this morning things are warming right up plus we have some sun shining out there. So that will help too. Hope all your snow melts or at least that it warms up for you some more. I have one friend in Nebraska that fell yesterday trying to break loose some ice off her back walk and something shifted and she fell and caught herself with her right hand and now her hand is in a brace. She is waiting to hear if it is broken still. Guess she had her DH go fill up a couple gallon bags of snow to use for ice packs while her regular ones got cold again. hehehe That will teach that ole snow. hehehe So anyway be careful out there in all the snow and ice.

That goes for all of you that are having snow and ice... please be careful. I can't even imagine having to deal with it all myself. Other than laying in it for my back pain. hehehe

Kathryn - Did you enjoy your walk yesterday? I used to love to watch Dr. Phil when he was on Oprah but never did watch his show much. Too much in your face stuff for me. I need TLC to deal with my problems. hehehe But I did get one of his self help books years back but never did follow through. Good luck with the book you got.

Wanda - How is your weekend going? Did you all find Garry a suit for the wedding?
Hope that you were successful. Enjoy your Sunday...

I am on my 2nd load of laundry this morning... Stripped my bedding before they took my bed apart so I will have nice clean sheets and comforter to put back on the bed tonight. So I best go check on that.

Good morning to all those that stop in today... Have a wonderful Sunday.

Good morning, it's a damp one. Serenity Sunday is posted, Mauri got us going this morning. Need to get breakfast for my guys yet, they both have to take a pill and then they have to wait at least 30 min. before they eat. We ended up watching an animated movie last night called Back To The Sea, it was cute, then we watched Doc Martin, then it was off to bed for all of us. It was 41 out when we went to bed, some of the snow has melted, but not all of it.

Have a blessed and serene Sunday!

Kathy your sense of humor is always up lifting. Having a hot dog is way better then going shopping with out eating any thing. The other day I set out walking to the library and started feeling very hungry. I started day dreaming of rich cheese dripping roast beef sandwiches at the Sandwich Shop but stopped myself and got a roll at Starbucks. I think we both made good choices.I am glad you are enjoying the quotes

Good afternoon. emoticon Wanda and Donna on that weight elimination and to anyone else who might have got rid of some of those extra lbs. we are carrying around. Mermaid glad to see you getting more involved.

I talked with my youngest DD the other day and her and her DH are doing a diet, it's called the military diet, you eat specific foods for 3 days and then you have 4 days off and then go back on it, she called today and her and DH both lost 5 1/2 lbs. She wanted to do something that would give her a jumpstart on losing weight, I hope this will help get her going as she is very heavy.

Wyndy you'll soon be on your way, enjoy your trip, hope you and DH are both feeling better.

Kathryn any walking today?

Mauri couldn't remember if you said you had to work today or not, I hope not and that you are enjoying your day.

Carole you always seem pretty busy all the time, what are you up to today?

We've had a little bit of sun, getting cloudy again now, we are at 34, haven't quite reached that 38 yet. Enjoy your day.

Wanda glad you enjoyed my humor this morning... Not sure if the pain meds are working but just so happy that I don't have to go anywhere today. hehehe So with the extra time I was checking out the challenges and such. Such a simple thing to so "SPIN" and i already do that each day so I will attempt to add it too. Did my first positive blog in I'm not even gonna say how long. I'm ashamed actually. How did that get away from me. But no matter will attempt to at least post positives there now. Life gets busy I guess.

Good luck finding Garry a suit... And when you get around to it... Good luck finding you something. woo hoo... You will meet your goals and look beautiful in those pictures.

Mermaid...you crack me up! Thanks for the giggle this morning. Spin for the team on the Start page in step 3. Those meds must be helping cause your sense of humor is great! LOL
Just read your post about the book...I will do some further checking on it, thanks for that tidbit.

Good Morning everyone,

It was so nice to not have to get up at 4:30 am this morning for work. Even if I have household chores to do today, its on my schedule *grin*. Did my weigh in this morning...1 more pound eliminated! YAY.

Had a busy day at work yesterday, only had to put in an hour of overtime so managed to get out of there early enough to still make the open hours at the x-ray clinic. I needed to get an x-ray of my knee done before going to see the surgeon for my year's check-up. Stopped at the health food store on the way home and had a great chat with one of the staff there. She is so incredibly knowledgeable. I love that she offers you options but never pushes you to buy anything. I was looking for a natural product that would help with my rosacea that has flared up once again. I really want it cleared up before wedding pictures occur! Because of my issues with chemicals and makeup etc, I did some research online before going in so sort of knew what I was looking for. I now have something to try. I also ended up buying a product called PHYTOBERRY. It is a concentrate of all kinds of berries that are antioxidents. You use one small scoop in a glass of water each day and it tastes amazing! Unfortunately there was no calorie info on the container, but it did tell me that one scoop is the equivalent of 8 to10 servings of fruit. WOW! I will go on line to see what nutritional info I can find.
This morning I mixed my tablespoon of Diatomaceous Earth into the glass also...yep, this is going to work!

Shirl...have a fun weekend with AJ and watching some movies. Garry and I are off to the city sometime this weekend to see what we can find in the way of a nice light weight suit for him for the wedding. Father of the bride needs to look good *grin*. I need to start looking also to see what I can find for the Mother of the bride to wear. My goal is to have eliminated 30 pounds by the wedding...this could take some really concentrated effort!

Donna....WOO HOO way to go on the weight elimination. Fabulous work!

Kathryn, Mermaid, Mauri, Carole and anyone else that pops by...have a great and funfilled day.

Hugs,
Wanda

Good morning. It's kind of gray out this morning, don't know if we'll see sun today or not, we might get some rain as it's suppose to be around 38 today. A.J. will be coming this afternoon, we'll see what good movies we can find to watch on Netflix's. Will try and get some cleaning done this morning, that'll be my exercise for the day.

Mermaid hope those new meds will work for Marie. I love it when we have leftovers makes fixing a meal so much easier and less work and time.

Wishing all a great Saturday.

Good Morning Sparkies and Happy Saturday.

Shirl - Congrats to you on your 2# down emoticon emoticon I knew you would be a success with all those extra's you have been doing. Glad Clenton agreed to the hear-aids. And enjoy your day with AJ... Hope you find a good movie to watch. We watched one the other day that I thought was going to be good. It was a western and I thought oh I should tell Shirl about this one. well within a few minutes I said nope... too much sex and violence. sheesh... They just can't make a movie anymore without it. Hey but I was thinking about you. hehehe

Wanda - I just saw something real quick on the news about that book I think they said it was called Ghost Boy (not positive)... They showed a boy in a wheelchair and they said he lied about it. Not sure if it is that same book you are going to read or not. But thought I'd let you know. Sorry... But now it may not be the same one... I was thinking this was a new book and that they were holding it??? The one you ordered was from Nov 2013... So may not be... sorry I should have paid more attention. It's a shame that that little boy thought he had to make up a story for attention. sad... But Hope this is not that book and that you enjoy it.

Donna - congrats to you on reaching your goal of 15# and getting yourself a activity tracker as a reward. emoticon emoticon That is awesome. As for your cold snap I think we are getting about the same thing. It's been in the 60's here in Central FL and I've had to wear socks this year more then ever. So I can relate to being cold too. And my new sweats/comfy's are getting worn more this year as well. hehehe But I see sunshine out there already so hoping it warms a little today. Have a great weekend.

Kathryn - Hope you enjoyed your walk with your buddy yesterday. Thanks for all the positive quotes. They sure do help and seem to fall in place when you need them.
Oh and I ended up getting that hot dog. They have pizza but only cheese and pepperoni. No veggies on it there. I was eating right at BJ's Wholesale club and they only have certain selections. Nothing healthy well nothing I wanted. hehehe emoticon

Wyndy - Wow sorry about your fall. but glad that Chiropractor got you fixed up some so you can go on your trip without as much pain I hope. Enjoy your Hawaiian trip... emoticon emoticon emoticon

Thursday I went to Kissimmee and visited my friend Maire before my shopping and appt. She was not feeling well again and had put on 8# of fluid again in 4 days. So they are changing her meds again in hopes to keep her out of the hospital this time. Praying that they get her fixed up again. Then she told me they are going to ask her niece to move in and stay with them to help out and be there just in case since her and her DH are both in poor health. They are trying to put off going to a nursing home. Which I don't blame her for that one. Not something I want either.

Then yesterday was my final appt for the week. (thank goodness) got an x-ray of my back but not sure when I will hear anything on that. I was lucky and did not have to cook dinner last night because we had leftover soup and chili so no standing and cooking and pain... YAY!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone... No plans here except for laundry. hehehe Never ending laundry...

Hello all! Wow, falls and illnesses and doctors' appointments - I hope everyone is on the mend and things are looking up.

I had some great news this morning; I'm down 15#! I ordered my 15# reward: an activity tracker. I've been tracking steps on my phone, but it's cumbersome because I set the phone down and forget to slip it into my pocket. Plus my favorite jammies don't have pockets! So I'm excited!

It's a balmy 68º here in the Tx panhandle today - lovely! We have another cold snap coming but we're enjoying it for now. I have had a hard time staying warm this winter - that's never been a problem for me! My feet, especially, seem to stay cold.

Y'all have a great weekend if I don't get in here to say hi!

Good morning. We are at 27, which is nice, but in the teens with wind chill. We'll be leaving in a little while for the VA for DH's eye appointment, thankful for dry roads and warmer temps. Margaret and I got in a good walk yesterday. After we get back today need to go to the store for some groceries, A.J. is coming to spend Saturday night with us, so it'll be a weekend of movie watching.

Wyndy glad you got the pinched nerve taken care of, but sorry for your fall and that you got some medicine that is helping. Enjoy your time away in a warm place.

Wanda have a good day at work.

Mauri, Mermaid, Kathryn, Carole, Donna and all others have a fab Friday.

Hugs,

So chiropractor put sacral joint back in and loosened pinched nerve, then I fell between the car and the truck and smushed my knee. I'm just thankful it didn't break. So now I have a cane but I'm not screaming anymore so I consider that a better condition. The doctor gave us both antibiotics yesterday, mine were very strong. Took 2 yesterday and one this morning and I am feeling much better. Almost like I could function. My suitcase is mostly packed, just last minute stuff. Take the dog out to the kennel about 40 miles from here tomorrow and then off to Saskatoon Saturday morning. We fly out of Saskatoon Sunday morning and arrive in Hawaii Sunday night.

Wanda I am reading a Sidney Sheldon book that I think is the last of his books I have on hold. This one came from two counties away. It was from the city my son lives in. It is a little town with a small library. When my library barrows a book from them they have to send them some of our books in exchange. Glad you have warm enough weather to open your back door and air out some, fresh air is so nice.

Kathy I would pick the pizza over the hot dog because you can get vegetables.

Good morning. We are at 10 this morning nice not to see that - in front of it, we are in for a little warm up this weekend and next week. Last January there was no January thaw, just straight cold all winter long.

I was very happy with my weigh in this morning, 2 more gone, usually if I lost 2 lbs. one week the next week the scale usually would not move and then the following week I'd be lucky drop a lb. So this is really good for me, I use to wonder how in the heck do you lose 2 lbs. a week.

Clenton's appointment went very well, he goes back Feb. 18, to get his hearing aids, I am so happy he agreed to try them, I really liked the audiologist, she was very nice. It will be nice to have a conversation with him without having to raise my voice and having to repeat myself.

Oh shoot running out of time need to get out to the community room for exercise, have a great day everyone.

Hugs,

Good Morning Sparkies...

Happy Thursday to you all...

Shirl - Hope that Clenton's test went well... my DH is hard of hearing too but says it's my mumbling... UGH! I've suggested he get a test but that will not happen... Hey the positives to that will be someday he won't be able to hear that I am watching the Bachelor again. hehehe He hates that show.. hehehe Oh and WTG on getting them tapes in again...

Blondegenius AKA Donna... emoticon emoticon I so understand that pain in your shoulder. I went through that several years ago and had to have surgery on that. But gotta say you are a trooper going to Ireland on that family trip with a bum knee. Wow I would love a trip like that but I'm afraid I'd never make it with all them hills and stairs so I just keep that one as one of my dreams. hehehe Gotta have dreams to keep us going.

Wanda - Glad that your weather got nice enough to open the door up. We've had the doors open a few days now... We can only do that on the cooler days here. otherwise the humidity gets too us. Enjoy your day my friend...

Kathryn - Your weather sounds nice too. We about the same here today. High in the 60's... But I don't think we'll see much sunshine today. But that is ok.

As for my back injections. All went well... Was a little painful but I am learning to breath through it all. ugh... I mentioned my fall and so he looked at that area of my back... Middle thoracic area and said he did see something there so is sending me for an official x-ray which I have scheduled for tomorrow. He also gave me a little injection in that area but not sure that helped much but i think the low back ones help a little more.

Today I'm off to Kissimmee where I am planning to stop at BJ's wholesale club for a few things while I'm over there. And will stop in and visit Marie 1st I think... She is out of the hospital and was doing well on her diabetic/heart diet... Just hope she is still at it.

I have already decided to have a 1/4 lb hot dog at BJ's but will not eat the bun... That will save some calories and carbs too... So trying to think ahead but that hot dog will be my eat out treat this week. hehehe woohoo. hehehe It was that or the pizza and the pizza is more calories...

Have a wonderful day everyone...

Good Morning everyone,

We are having some unusually warm temperatures for mid winter! It was plus 5 yesterday and raining! On the plus side of getting rain in the middle of winter, I was able to open my back door for a bit and bring some nice fresh air into the house. Even Kismet was enjoying the day as she was able to go out on the back deck for a wee bit and enjoy being outside.
I will be driving with extra caution though this morning as I head to work. The roads are likely to be pretty icy.

Kathryn...it's great being able to open the windows and doors and get that closed in feeling out of the house. It's one of the things I don't like about winter...having fresh air circulating through the house. Normally it's far to cold to open a door or window for more than a couple of minutes. Yay, two walks yesterday for you. What are you reading right now? I picked up an interesting book from the library that a co-worker recommended...Salt, Sugar, Fat by Michael Moss. It might be one you would like to read too.

Shirl...How did Clenton's hearing test go yesterday? Glad it's just a check up for him with his eyes and not another surgery. Hoping for great results on his check up. I have been doing good so far this week with getting my steps in and staying on track. I actually have a streak going with drinking my water too! I am hoping for good results on my weigh in on Saturday. Have a great day.

Mermaid...how's the back doing?

Wyndy...hope you get to feeling better so you can enjoy your trip. What a nice place to be going in the middle of winter. Enjoy your time there. Hugs.

Carole, Blondegenius, Mauri and whomever else pops by...wishing you a wonderful and successful day.

Hugs,
Wanda

emoticon all, hope your day is going well. It is a warm day today in the high 60's. We have the windows open in the apartment airing out the place. The weatherman says we are in for rain this week end but today is a nice day. I went for a walk this morning and than this afternoon hubby and I went for a little walk.

Good morning. We were at -16 when we got up suppose to get up to 20 today, it's suppose to have a high of 30 on Friday, that would be nice. We have sun again today, love that sunshine. Seeing we didn't walk yesterday I did two sessions on the exercise tape, my body didn't protest as much as the first time I did it, lol. Right after lunch we'll be taking off for Battle Creek VA and his hearing test, of course, he says there's nothing wrong with his hearing, you know men.

All you working ladies that are taking the stairs or the long way around on your restroom breaks good for you, WTG on getting in that exercise, it all counts.

Wanda there's no surgery this time, Battle Creek VA just wants to check his eyes after he had the injections and the laser surgery on his left eye down in Ann Arbor VA.

Mermaid hope the shots give you some relief for your back.

Wyndy hope you have your strength back by Saturday and that your leg is doing better.

Carole, BLONDGENUIS, Kathryn and any others that stop by wishing all a great Wednesday.

Good morning! It's 31º in the Tx panhandle this morning, and it appears that something fell last night. It looks like tiny ice balls. I sure didn't hear anything, but I have some white noise going in the bedroom to keep me from hearing my dog shift in her kennel at night. I have a great app for that, if anyone's interested. The higher temp feels good, although my feet never seem to get warm anymore, no matter how warm it is!

Shirl, way to go resisting the siren song of the fast food! I normally do my grocery shopping after work in the evening, before I go home, so I'm always a little hungry. I made myself a promise a while back that when I do that, I visit the Walmart deli and pick up one of the ready-made individual salads as a treat. That way, I have something quick and delicious to look forward to when I get home. It keeps me from picking up something naughty on the way home or binge eating because I'm too hungry.
Good luck on your DH's hearing test today!

Sunwyn, I'm glad you're feeling a little better. Don't overdo; it sounds like you'll need loads of energy for your trip! Enjoy!

Carole, good for you doing those stairs when you head to the restroom! I work in a small building, but I have started going the long way around when I have to go to the restroom. It adds some steps to my day!

Kathy, I'm sorry you've been having such fits with your back. I hope the procedure today gives you some relief.

I've battled knee issues for years now. I had the viscous gel injections done last summer so I could get enough relief for a family trip to Ireland. So many castles and so much walking! It helped but I'm starting to feel some pain again. And using the handrails in all those castle stairways, I tore the labral tendon in my right shoulder, so I'm trying to get that to heal so I don't have to have it repaired. I feel like I'm falling apart!

Y'all have a great day today! Halfway to the weekend!

Good Morning Sparkies...

Wow so many have posted. Nice to see you all.

Carole welcome back and good luck with catching up at work. hehehe

Wanda - Good luck with that plant. Hope that you get a good harvest from it. Oh boy more new books at work. hehehe Enjoy!

Shirl - Good luck to your DH today with his hearing appt. Good for you resisting that fast food. I was out yesterday and did not resist but just got a chicken wrap and McD's... 270 calories so that wasn't too bad. But I did resist them Fries. hehehe

Kathryn - WTG on getting all that candy out of the house. It's hard to not eat those. ugh. hehehe I'm finding that the cookies are calling me again. So need to make sure I don't over do with them. Darn Carbs anyway...

Wyndy - Glad you got over that Flu now instead of having it while on your wonderful trip. enjoy your cruise and all.

Well I had an appt yesterday about them putting me on Reclast the IV medication for your bones. My Dexa Scan was a lot worse this last time so the med's I was taking was not working so I'm high risk for breaking bones. So I go next week for that. And today is my 2nd set of Injection procedure for my back. Not looking forward to the actual procedure but remain positive that it will help some of the pain. Wish me luck.
they give you a happy pill before the procedure so at least I will be happy! LOL

As for joining another team... I'm on this one and the other one I've been on for years. So no time for another one. there are no challenges or anything on the other team just us friends chatting daily. But still takes a lot of time so no way can I join another team. Oh and they do have me signed up for a Florida team that I should delete... I never go there. hehehe
Just here and the other one that is more than enough and I don't work...

Have a great day everyone...

Good Morning all,

Wow! it's a balmy plus 3 out this morning and it's wintertime! We had freezing rain yesterday afternoon, so hoping that the roads are not icy this morning. With plus 3 may not have frozen everywhere.

Things are starting to pick up at work. Our shipments that were held for us until Jan 1 are beginning to slowly make their appearance. My selectors are beginning to get back into the flow of things and send me down orders to input. In fact, I am anticipating when I get to work this morning that a large shipment will have arrived after I left work yesterday. Hope so.

Shirl...safe travels today for you and Clenton. Hope all goes well today and when Clenton has his surgery. Keeping you in my prayers. Hugs.

Carole...I have a lemon tree growing indoors and want to try growing a lime and tangerine also. I put my lemon tree outside during the warmer months and then bring it back indoors in the fall. I need to get started on getting my seeds prepped and into growing containers indoors pretty soon. It's always a fine balance between starting them too soon and being able to transplant them the end of May outdoors. I am hoping to get a greenhouse, but so far it hasn't made it up to the top of the priority list *grin*.

Kathryn...You got lots of walking in with all your trips to the store, library and Starbucks. Way to go! I am aiming for a minimum of 5 miles everyday this week. Here's hoping my goal is successful. Have a great day.

Mermaid...Thanks for the nice weather! Save some for yourself too as I know you mermaids don't do well in ice and snow! Have a great day.

Wishing everyone that stops by today a great and successful day at meeting your goals.

See you all later.
Hugs,
Wanda

Hello all!
Shirl-Great job on not doing the fast food. It is hard when you're busy and not in the mood to cook.

Wanda-I didn't get the email which is good cuz I'm on too many teams as it is. What are ketchup and fries plants? Our apple seed plants didn't survive being not watered while we were in Florida. Oh well. We'll have to try again sometime. I need to check on my pear and grape seeds.

Kathryn-Well, last night I had 3 truffles. I was pigging out on wheat thins and forced myself to go take a bath so I couldn't go back to the kitchen. haha That took care of the urge.

Yesterday I was a slug and didn't feel like going to the gym so I decided every time I had to go to the bathroom I would walk the stairs at work. I've been getting in alot of water so I did 3 sets of stairs. (Afternoon only)

Sunwyn-Hope you are feeling better!

Tonight we have cub scouts. Our theme for tonight is Science!

Shril good job on not having the fast food and cooking at home last night.

Wanda I got that Email from Snow angel too. I checked out the team and found an old friend on there so I joined. I am retired and have tons of free time and being on many teams is good for me. It is much better then eating all those truffles.

Carole the truffles, I got two boxes of, were Lindt, so good. Well I ate the last of them last night and Lindt baby chocolate bears. Now the candy is out of the house.

I did walk to Starbucks and the supermarket twice yesterday. Today I am walking to the dentist and the library. It is foggy this morning and will be until 10 they say. I am going to be very careful. I went to the bargain store right across the street and had a car almost hit me. I should have used the cross walk, I will for the rest of my walks this morning.

Good morning. -6, but thankfully no wind and the sun is shinning. Will be going down to the community room shortly for exercise. Won't be walking today. The VA called yesterday and DH goes this Wed. at 2 p.m. for his hearing test and then on Friday at 11 a.m. for his eyes, so will be a busy week. I am glad we walked at 2 yesterday, it wasn't so busy. We are blessed to have such a nice facility to walk in.

I was really proud of myself yesterday, after we got through walking and I came home needed to go out to Walmart to refill a prescription, my knee was bothering me and when we got back home I was tired, hungry and hurting and didn't really want to cook our meal, fast food was calling to me, well I resisted and made our meal at home and I am so glad I did, much more healthier for us.

Wanda I only belong to this team and am so happy here, I tired being on a few others but found I was spending way too much time on the computer as I always felt I need to do everything on each one, I really don't see how people who work handle being on very many teams. I guess we each have to decided what's best for us. I am sure there are lots of great teams out there but this one works for me.

Carole WTG on that challenge and getting the gift certificate, that is awesome.

Mermaid it seems funny to hear you talk about tomatoes fresh from the garden when we are at -6. Love fresh tomatoes.

Wishing all a great day.

Hugs,
Shirl

Good Morning everyone,

It's a new day and a new challenge has been posted for you "Take Charge Tuesday".

It should be a busy day today as our shipments are beginning to arrive. It's like Christmas all over again as we get to unpack all those new reading materials. Love seeing all the new books and knowing that we are providing great stuff for our patrons.

Carole...welcome back, sounds like you had a great time off. Good for you for only allowing yourself one chocolate each day. Those Lindt chocolates are good! Yay on winning the gift card, that was not easy with all the temptations over Christmas. Keep up the great work.

Shirl...Are you and Margaret walking again today? I'm so looking forward to being able to walk outdoors again...only a couple more months to go and then hopefully I will be able to without fear of slipping on icy sidewalks. I need to go and get my x-ray done for my final check-up with the doctor. I see him for my year check up at the end of this month. I'm pleased with the results so hope he is too!

Kathryn...did you get your Starbucks yesterday?

Mermaid...I'm still debating about getting one of the Ketchup and Fries plants even if they cost a bit...I'm so curious about how they will do here. I'm going to talk to one of the local greenhouses to see if they can get any in. Yep, gardening is starting to take over in my mind! *grin*.

Have a great day everyone,
Hugs,
Wanda

An unusual email in my box today. I'm thinking that many on this team will have received the same invitation from Snowangel asking you to consider joining one of the many teams that she is the leader of.

After checking out her page, I see that she has only been a member of Sparkpeople since 12/6/2014. I have not checked out the teams that she is the leader of, but if you feel lead to join one or more of them please follow your heart.

I have chosen to decline her offer as I find working full time and being a fully participating member of this team is enough to keep me busy. If you are able to handle more than one or two teams that is awesome. Please think about the amount of time commitment you are making though to be online and an active member of many teams. It's great to have the challenges and encouragement from others, but spreading yourself too thin doesn't leave you much time to actually pursue your goals to a healthy lifestyle.

I have to be honest and admit that I do not think that Snowangel's tactic of soliciting members for her own teams by sending emails to members of teams that she is not a member of a bit offensive. Just my feeling and perhaps I am not giving her the benefit of doubt. I do however wish her much success in obtaining her health goals. Please do not let my personal opinion factor into your decision. Each person on this team has the right to chose how long they stay with us and how many teams they join. Positive Bloggers is here to serve those that need the support and encouragement and will continue to be here and open to anyone that wishes to be here.

On the plus side....we are blessed to live in a free world and we are blessed to have Sparkpeople as our support.

Have a great evening.
Hugs,
Wanda

Hello all!

Sorry I've been missing in action. Work was crazy last week. Its still crazy this week and I'm still behind. DOH. Oh well.

Wanda-So far they are taking a break I guess on the work challenges. I've joined the BLC challenge on here so will continue my madness. emoticon I actually survived the Maintain Don't Gain challenge at work. I weighed in on the last day possible and was able to drop the holiday weight in time. So got the gift card. Woohoo! My wake up clock is the sound of the ocean. The least jarring and actually soothing wakeup. Glad you love your new clock!

Kathryn-One of my employees gave me an ornament filled with Lindt Truffles. Oh my are they good. But I've successfully limited myself to 1 a day. Depending on how work goes I hope I can keep it up or I may be face first into them. Tee-hee. I do have to make cookies for my son's hockey party this Friday. I have problems with keeping myself from eating the cookie dough. Yum!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Kathy hubby and I both use to have a lot of trouble getting down on the floor and back up but we kept doing it until it was easy. Soon you too will feel this way too.

Shril hope you had a nice walk today are you doing it indoors since it is so cold out?

Wanda hope things work out at work and you don't have to much over time.

I am going for a walk today and get my Starbucks. I have been really missing it. I also need to go to the supermarket.

Good Morning Sparkies...

Happy Monday to you all...

Kathryn - Glad I would help motivate you to get that floor vacuumed. lol But wasn't it nice to have a clean floor (like Shirl) to get down and do them exercises? hehehe
But now I gotta tell you and Shirl both I envy you both for still being able to get down on the floor. My knees won't let me. But hoping once I get more of this extra weight off I'm hoping that will change.
WTG on resisting that garlic bread. You did good. I resisted yesterday as well.

Wanda - Love the sound of your alarm clock. glad it helps to start your days off better. And good luck on the OT. Hope your plan works. But if not look at the positives... You get to take off early on Friday's... emoticon lol

I'm heading into town this morning. I have a clock I ordered for my DH that keeps perfect time. It's called a SmartSet Clock. They are suppose to know the time and never have to set your clocks back or forward. Well I've ordered 3 of them so far and 2 out of 3 did not work for one reason or the other. hehehe But I love the idea since I'm the one that has to change all the clocks. so anyway I'm sending one of the clocks back and since the place I drop the package off is right across the street from where I get my nails done I think I'll go get a Pedicure... Love it when a plan comes together...

Have a good day everyone... and hello to all those that stop in...

Good morning all. It snowed last night and is lightly still snowing, we are suppose to go below 0 tonight and tomorrow night before we get a warm up, it was nice to have higher 20's yesterday and this morning, but the temp will be dropping throughout the day. Meeting Margaret at 2 for our walk. Because of the water situation yesterday we ended up eating out twice so I ended the day close to higher end of my calorie range, so will try and keep it at the lower end today, also only get in 5 glasses of water yesterday, so will work to get in 8 today.

Wanda your new alarm clock sounds nice, I am with you those jarring ones are not a pleasant way to wake up, it's like a shock to your system.

Wishing all a good Monday, make this week count.

Hugs,
Shirl

Good Morning all,
It's a new day and a new week...let's all have a successful week. Monday's challenge is posted please check it out.

I am loving my Christmas present of a Wake-up alarm clock. It gradually simulates sunrise and that begins about 30 minutes before I have to get up. Such a nice gentle way of waking up. Even the alarm on it is gentle, not this jarring sound that scares the crap out of me.

Kismet even likes the clock, she has already figures out that when it gets bright, I get up and she gets fed!

Shipments should start arriving this week at work, so anticipating a much busier week this week than last. My goal this year at work is to not have to put in so much overtime...let's see if that one works *grin*.

Have a great day everyone,
See you all later.
Hugs,
Wanda

Kathy we posted at the same time emoticon

We had tuna noodle casserole last night and hubby had to have garlic bread with it. I was good and passed on it even though it smelled so good. But I was bad and had a pig out on white chocolate truffles

Last night I got on the nutrition tracker and put it on the setting that shows the diet menus and planned all of today's eating. I am going to do this as the saying goes "just for today".
