Evening everyone. We had cloudy days and dampness all day until late afternoon, but they said bad weather was supposed to start early on, so we didn't go do our grocery shopping as planed so will try again tomorrow. Maybe DH will be tempted by something he'll feel like eating. His appetite has not been up to par, when even sweets don't tempt him I know he's not well. Just another week until that appointment, hopefully we"ll learn something then.

Shirl hope your feeling better this evening. You also Kathy. Nancy sorry you didn't sleep well, know that feeling well. Get some rest tonight.

Wanda glad you missed the boat on the snow/rain, be safe out on those roads. Sorry Kaeli's interview didn't go well but she has a good attitude about it, you never know that other person may not work out at all.

Irene your body is still healing even after what may seem like forever to you, at our age it takes a bit longer. listen to your body and go at your own pace not someone else's.

Trace I have 2 sprains over the years that the Dr.s put a cast on. Both times they said i pulled all the ligaments in the outside of my leg. And now that I think about it, it was always the right leg. Good luck on your 5K.

Have a great one everyone.

Getting here late, started out so good this morning, after breakfast went up and road the bike, when I came back down was going to start getting ready what I was going to fix for our lunch, but before I could do that youngest DD in FL called, so talked with her for quite a while, but after I got off the phone started feeling funny, went and checked my BP and it had gone up quite a bit, so spent the day resting, and I so wanted to do so many things today as company will be here Sat. Will try and get as much done tomorrow as I can and it'll have to be good enough. I want to go to Eleanora's visitation tomorrow afternoon and our property manager wants to wrap up our recertification sometime tomorrow, so don't know how much cleaning I'll get done, that's life.

Kathy you sound like me today, we're two peas in a pod. Let's both hope tomorrow is a much better day for both of us, guess that's life, and we can't always control how our bodies feel. Great job on all that walking. We use to have a JoAnn's right beside where we live and sometimes I'd spend an hour or more just wandering and looking at everything, sure miss that store.

Nancy glad the clogged sink got taken care of and your kitchen is back to clean again. I'd probably choose dark chocolate also as the first food to reintroduce, good choice, lol, I like the way you and mom think. That's great that you're going to give a gym a try, I liked it when I joined Snap Fitness through Silver Sneakers through my health insurance, I haven't been in such a while I'll need to rejoin if I went back, I did enjoy it when I did go, loved the elliptical machine got a really good workout and it wasn't hard on my knees like the treadmill. I would like"Solidly Built" over "Fat & Flabby", lol.

Wanda glad you didn't have that thick fog this morning, it is scary driving in that stuff. That was nice that they called and let Kaeli know that the job went to another person who was a little more experienced, but who knows that person may not work out and they still just might give Kaeli a call, what a great attitude. Yes, Eleanora is in a much better place, I have no doubt she's at peace in her forever heavenly home and someday we'll meet again. Hope things are going good for Garry and his siblings.

Irene, I admire people who can run or walk fast too, but my body says no, I have to go at the speed that's good for me and I look at like well as long as I am moving that's a good thing no matter what the speed. Hope your back improves and you get better sleep. Keep listening to your body and be good to yourself.

Trace good for you for joining in with that 5K this weekend.

Candi our temps were up enough we got rain all last night and today, don't want to see any of that white stuff floating down, lol. I hope DH can at least enjoy is birthday tomorrow. Hang in there it'll soon be April 6.

Mauri your busy season is soon starting or maybe all ready has.

Donna where in the heck are you?

Kathryn hope all is well with you and Ron.

Dot we're missing you!

I hope I didn't miss anyone, and if anyone else happens by hope this has been a good Thursday!

Hugs,
Shirl

Good Morning my friends...

I'm not feeling well at all and will try to stay positive. It's one of them days where i am looking for them.

Wanda - In no way was I thinking you were coming down on me about that acupuncture. If i could afford it I would try it again. I would try anything to feel good. hehehe
As for the turmeric I'm taking the pills. That way it's just easier for me.
Love your Kaeli's attitude about this job interview. she's so Positive. Wonder where she got that My positive friend... emoticon
Prayers for Garry as he trys to do what he can on MIL's house. Hope they get a lot of things accomplished and ready for that yard sale. (((hugs)))

Trace - Yes there is a JoAnn's Fabric's in Kissimmee. It is on 192 in where the Target is. As for the fabric selection, although that is the only section I did not look in it did seem to be a good size. I walked all over that store except that area. I don't sew very much.
Good for you signing up for that run. And good luck to you. Just finishing I would be proud. hehehe

Shirl - Glad you have some sunshine to help warm you. It was 88* here yesterday. Got hot it did. Sorry to hear about your neighbor. She is in a better place now. ((hugs)) As for me I over did it yesterday and feeling it today. I had to do it and I am proud that I got in over an hour+ of walking through that store. I counted 45 minutes of walking without standing. lol Not sure if that is right... It's a guessing thing with me. hehehe

Nancy - Good for you on the Whole30 AIP. Now just hoping that when you try a little chocolate that your body will except that without any problems. hehehe Also hope that when you are done that you can figure out what is causing the problems. Good luck with your Gym membership. You are such an inspiration... You go GF...

Irene - I sometimes think like you and wonder where my dedication is as well... Well it's the pain that keeps me from doing what I want so much. So I just hope that the next day is better. I try not to beat myself up about it either. I have to except my limitations and hope that tomorrow is better. That is why my word for this year is TRY. I just try to do the best I can day by day. So just try tomorrow and see what you are able to do. ((hugs))

Candi - Thinking of you and your hubby. Hope he can enjoy his Birthday somehow. Maybe a little something for desert that he feels like having. Hope that can tell him something when he goes to the Dr next week. Especially after making him wait so long.

I'm trying to get some laundry folded and put away. That is the highlight of my day. hehehe Well that and all my shows are on abc tonight. hehehe

Have a great day everyone...

Happy Thursday!

The sun is shining for a bit. More clouds and rain are forecast. Today is the last day of my official Whole30 AIP, but I am probably going to stay on the plan until I can get rid of a few more symptoms. It's tough to reintroduce foods during the height of allergy season, because it will be hard to determine if the food is causing the symptom or the pollen. Oh well, it's an exercise in self knowledge.

I woke up at 4:37 this morning and decided to just get up and out and be prepared to go to bed earlier this evening. Lots to do around here.

I hope that things are going well for you all as we head into the weekend. Almost there. Have a great day and keep working on being your healthy best!

~Nancy~

Good Morning everyone,

At least my drive to work this morning will not be a white-knuckle one. The fog was so thick yesterday that driving in it was very terrifying. It took until mid morning before it started burning off. We were expecting rain/snow mix overnight but it looks like that didn't happen so the roads shouldn't be icy this morning.

Shirl...I'm so sorry about your neighbor. PTL that it wasn't long and drawn out, she went home to the Lord very quickly.

Irene...you are listening to your body and that is good. You will be back walking again as your body feels better. Hugs.

Candi...I'm sure you and your hubby both will be happy when you finally get some results. The not knowing is the worst. An early Happy Birthday to him for tomorrow.

Trace...congratulations on signing up for the 5k. You rock!

Kathy, Kathryn, Donna, Nancy and anyone else that pops in...have a great day. I have a busy day ahead of me today at work and then off to acupuncture session right after work.

Update on Kaeli's job interview. They let her know yesterday that although she had interviewed very well, they did hire someone else with a bit more experience in the research area. She emailed them back and thanked them for the opportunity and said although she was disappointed, she understood their wanting someone who was a better fit. Like she told me...you never know, the other person might not work out and they still might consider her. Got to admire her outlook.

Have a great day all,
Hugs,
Wanda

Good morning. I admire the runners and walkers amongst us. Keep going . I am a slow plodder basically .i was so pleased I got back into going out daily and walking at my own speed. I did that on Monday and .Tuesday ,I did feel better for it and was full of optimism. Note its in past tense.
Tuesday night I hardly slept, I was awake a lot with a bad back. I do get it occasionally it's nothing serious , but it set me back, I had no energy to do my walking on Wednesday , I was dissapointed with myself , where's my commitment ? Couldn't I have just tried a short walk? I want to get back on track today . Enjoy your day

Candi - I have one ankle which goes about three times a year and has since I was 13. I did one of those sprains back then where the doctor said "You'd have been better off breaking it". I walk more than I run even when I'm "running" but.... for some reason I absolutely love it.

Speaking of which I found out one of my work friends is organizing a 5k this weekend to benefit the Special Olympics. She's the adaptive P.E. teacher at my school, so I just registered for the run. It's my first organized run in over 4 years. Excited, and it's funny how easy it was to decide to do it. I don't expect to be even a little bit fast, but it's chip timed so I can get a beginning of sorts to try and get faster.

Afternoon everyone, First off DH is still achy, coughing a bit (still on the inhaler until its gone) his appetite is a bit better but not by much. And his sleep pattern is all messed up. Can't wait until the 6th to see that assistant to the specialist, hopefully we'll get some answers then.

Kathy, the DH's b.day is this Fri, the 31st. He will be 78. Hope the hot shower helped the aches.

Wanda, we also had fog this morning, couldn't see the road 450 ft. down the drive, let alone the neighbors house. I also am trying to remove processed foods from my pantry and frig. But things jump in my cart at the market when I turn my back. If Hubby would stick to my list we could safe about $150 a month I think. I don't use any "added" sugar in anything either. What accrues naturally in nature is OK with me.

Trace, I have not run anywhere for several years, my walking pace is 3 mph on the treadmill and faster outside. I ran for a few years back in the 80's but after the third ankle sprain I gave it up. I have always had weak ankles. Good Luck with your running though.

Shirl, As I said we awake to fog this morning and tomorrow they say we could get rain/snow mix, fudge. So sorry to hear your neighbor passed. Just know that she is with her Maker, and in a better place.

Time for world news so have a great evening all.

Hello positive folks. I have been busy in my little world here for the past couple of days. After much deliberation, I joined a gym. The exercise component of my health plan was not gaining much momentum. My health insurance was running a special to waive the enrollment into their program. I was looking at a gym that my husband joined last year and still has yet to attend! (life gets busy) When I checked the mailbox this weekend there was a postcard that said, "try a free seven day trial". So I made the call. I had an appointment yesterday and another today to complete my initial assessment. So I signed up for the program sponsored by my health insurance. I chose that one rather than a membership exclusive to this club because I can use this membership at a lot of facilities across the country. So if I travel up north, there are several gyms that will honor my membership there as well.

The other business was that the kitchen sink was out of commission. Leaking and backing up, so yesterday the plumber came and took care of that. It kind of messed up my clean kitchen commitment, but I'm back on track now.

At the gym today, they did a "scan" to find out my body composition. and I'm not in the risk zones, but have lots to work on. The report said my metabolic age was 65. 2.5 years older than my actual age, but I feel older than I want to, that's one of the reasons that I joined the gym. I tried to do it on my own and I didn't get as far as I would have liked, so I'm hoping this decision boosts my progress. So we shall see if this makes a difference. I was glad to see that my visceral fat rating was not high. That's the fat around your organs. And my physique rating was "Solidly built" not sure what that means, but it sounded nice to me.

So that's where I'm at. I have one more day of my Whole30 to complete and then I start adding foods to my diet and watching for reactions. I had a conversation with my mom today and we decided that I will test chocolate first. Need to see if I can get some of those tasty flavanoids back on my plate!
emoticon emoticon

Have a great evening. Hope to catch up with you all tomorrow.

Good morning. We have lovely sunshine this a.m., but it was a cold start to the day, but that sun should help warm things up.

Our neighbor did not get transferred to hospice, they were suppose to do that yesterday, but she was to unstable to transport and she went home to meet her Lord yesterday.

Trace sounds like you are right back into the work again after your break. I've never experienced shin splints, it sounds painful, so hope I never do. The solution is clear with a lemon flavor and salty and you wonder if you're going to be able to get it all down, I can handle my 64 oz. of water a day, but 4 liters is a bit much, I am just glad it's done and over.

Wanda prayers that Garry's nerve pain gets better and soon. It seems like there is so much to do after one passes, especially when they own a home, I hope it will all go well and not take to long to wrap up all the loose ends. You are doing an amazing job of eliminating processed products from your diet. I am working hard at trying to stay away from the processed foods as much as I can and to keep my sugar intake really low, I do notice how much better I feel when I do that.

Kathy sounds like you've got a busy day ahead of you, enjoy the fun parts. Good job with the bike.

Candi how nice to connect with your friend for a visit. How is DH doing?

Kathryn, Nancy, Donna, Irene, Dot, Mauri and anyone else who happens by, have a great Wednesday.

Hugs,

Wanda – Your BBQ sounds wonderful. That’s going to be a hard decision with the acupuncture. Hope Garry is feeling better. It can be really easy to overdo things.

Kathy – There’s a Joann’s in Kisssimmee? Does it still have a decent fabric selection? I used to spend Way too much money in one of those…

Kathryn – Very glad to hear your husband is getting stronger! It sounds like you had a good outing too.

Shirl – Very glad you got through that! Was the solution chalky and terrible?

Irene – Way to go on the challenges!

Candi – That sounds like the best kind of surprise company. Glad she came to visit.

It really has been busy coming back and starting the 4th quarter here in clinic-ville. I’m not seeing more students than usual (65ish a day) but am also starting a few projects for next year. This is my second school year In this job and I feel like every few months I have an epiphany and suddenly come up with a way to make better sense of things. I’ve also gotten involved with a couple of larger projects with job2 which is awesome.

My sports bra failed spectacularly on Sunday, and my new one (and a few new pairs of workout pants) arrived in the mail yesterday. Shorts actually since I’m going to need to be a bit cooler once it gets hot. This morning I went for my first run since Sunday (I’ve been walking a bit and stretching and doing strength training). I walk/run. Sunday the pain started on the first of 6 run sections. Today I didn’t feel any tightness until the 5th one so the rest definitely helped!

Now it’s time to dive back into spreadsheets and get things done. Have a great day everyone!

Good Morning everyone,
Wow is it foggy out this morning. I can't even see the house across the street from us! Caution will be the word of the morning for me as I drive to work.

Kathy...I'm sorry if it sounded like I was coming down on you about the acupuncture...not my intention at all. It took me a lot of years of waffling before deciding to give it a try and the push for me is the possibility of having to have surgery on my left knee, something I will do anything to avoid. emoticon Yay on trying out the turmeric...are you doing the pills? Drinking lots of water also helps to keep things flushed out and lubricated. You can also try adding some coconut oil to your coffee, baking, or cooking. I use Nutiva coconut oil and add a tsp. full into my hot drinks. First time I tried it, I was pretty hesitant, but it really does taste great. Now my drinks don't taste right without it *grin*. It's great for getting your bowels working also, just in case you wanted that piece of info *grin*.
I have found as I have been eliminating as much as possible any processed foods, my body has been slowly responding better also. My goal for this year is to have less than 5% processed food in my kitchen. (my own "processed" foods are not part of that equation, as I know exactly what is in them...my own garden foods). I'm already working on my goal for next year and that is eliminating sugar completely from my diet. When I say sugar, its the added sugar not the natural sugars in foods. I'm a work in progress emoticon

Shirl...I'm sorry to hear about your neighbor. That is indeed sad news. Garry is off this weekend to Saskatchewan to help get the house ready for sale and to finish cleaning out all the personal items before it goes up for sale. The end of May they have planned for a garage/estate sale so will gone again then. My prayer is that the house sells quickly and that they can finalize all those loose ends. I'm not going with him and just praying that he doesn't have too much pain with the nerves ends as he drives. He is getting so tired of all the pain associated with the shingles. Not much he can do about it though except pray that it passes soon.
Yay on getting back on the bike and getting some time in. I'm so looking forward to being outdoors this weekend sitting on my back deck and contemplating how I'm going to lay out the garden this year LOL.

Whoops, it's time to get going for work...
Trace, Mauri, Donna, Candi, Irene, Kathryn and anyone else that pops by...have a wonderful Wednesday.

Hugs,
Wanda

Good Morning Sparkies...

Yesterday was a busy day for me... I got on the bike and got in 28 minutes. hehehe Then I got out in the yard and did a few things. Mostly playing in mulch. My body is surely feeling it today.
I woke up so stiff it was hard to get out of bed. Did a few stretches and will be jumping into a nice hot shower soon. Will be a long day for me. Heading to Kissimmee. Dentist then Sam's club then JoAnn's Fabric's/Yarn... (that will be fun) Love looking through them kind of stores. lol

Hope everyone is doing well today.

Candi - Nice to get together with long life friends like that. I'm sure you enjoyed it. Happy belated birthday to your DH.

ok I need coffee and then that shower...

Have a great day! emoticon

Everyone has been very busy while I was away. Had surprise company over the week end. Friend from down state called from her place Friday to let us know she was up to check on her house and "talk" to her DH who passed from cancer 5 years ago on our anniversary, his ashes are spread around the outer edge of his hunting area. She sits out there and "TALKS" to him when shes up. We told her not to heat the house just for a couple of days, to come stay with us. She also had gifts for our anniversary and hubbies b.day Friday. Brought us reading material and jig saw puzzles, yippee. But mostly just her company. She and her DH have been our best friends for almost 30 years or so. Funny thing is when we lived down state we lived 50 miles from door to door, up here its also 50 miles door to door. She has 40 acres she inherited from her Dad, her parents bought it back in the 50's and she and her DH built the house, the old cabin is now used for storage. Hope you all are well and had a great week end. I have a few more steps to get in so will let you all go.

Good Tuesday morning. It's a gray one here, would like to see some sun. Did a slow 30 min. on the bike this a.m. and have 16 oz. water in front of me, getting right back in the groove, yesterday was a total down day.

Had sad news this morning out neighbor, Eleanora, who fell on Sunday has been transferred to the hospice here in town, she has been such a good neighbor to us.

Wanda, glad you got a giggle out of the play on words, just a little bit of colonoscopy humor there, lol. Sorry Garry is experiencing so much pain, and yes, he probably over did it with the car washing, that's men for you. Hope the weather gives the farmers enough of a break that they can get the old crops out of the fields, Mother Nature can really mess them around.

Irene good for you getting in that exercise and adding some minutes to it. If it would just get a little warmer here my friend and I would be walking outside instead of in, but any walking is good for us. I need to go check out today's challenge, you do really well with them, thanks.

Kathy, Kathryn, Nancy, Donna, Dot, Candi, Trace, Mauri and anyone else that stops in, have a great Tuesday!

Hugs,

Good Morning Sparkies...

Wanda - I'm happy for you that you are seeing some positives from the acupuncture treatments. I am not against them at all. I finally looked it up and found that Medicare will not pay for it. I was thinking about it but can't afford to pay for it so will continue on with what all I am doing. I can relate with you not wanting to use medication especially if your body fights again them. You do well on figuring out what other things you can so and I appreciate that as well. I am taking the Tumeric/cuman??? like you suggested. Not sure it's helping but my hands aren't hurting as much with the arthritis. They still hurt but not as much. So will keep using it in hopes that it goes through my spine. hehehe
Sorry that Garry got that nerve pain going again. It's the worst. I have lots of that as well which I have to take medication for. I hate that I take so much meds but trying to eliminate them has been hard.
Glad you are enjoying making that blanket. And I agree that how you feel has a lot to do with it all.
Congrats on your elimination... I am working hard on watching what I'm eating these days and seeing good progress as well.

Shirl - So happy for you that the colonoscopy is all Behind you now. hehehe Wish mine was. I am not looking forward to that at all. I'm actually going to reschedule my appt with the Dr to set it up. It's scheduled right around the time the kids are leaving to head home and I don't want to not be here for that. hehehe (any reason would have worked to postpone it). hehehe

Kathryn - Glad you got out shopping. And wonderful news that Ron is up walking with that walker. I'm so happy for him. If he keeps that up he'll get stronger and stronger. Woo hoo!

Nancy - How goes things with you and your sink. hehehe Hope it's all fixed now. Nice that hubby goes to stay with his mom for a bit. Good that he keeps up with her things too. Been meaning to ask you... What job does he have that has him traveling around like he does?
Just wondering... lol

Irene - Good for you getting in all that exercise. You are doing great. You just motivated me to ride my recumbent bike. lol

Trace - How goes things now that you are back at it at work? Hopefully not too hectic. lol

Think I will head to the bike now thanks to Miss Irene... My legs are hurting already this morning so need to move them...

Have a great day everyone...

Good Morning all,

Irene...Way to go on getting in that extra moving. Sure is nice to get out in the sunshine and enjoy walking in the fresh air. Love today's challenge...actually I've been enjoying all the ones you have been posting. Have a great day.

Shirl...you made me giggle with your comment on having the colonoscopy "behind" you. Too funny. Glad it's over and you managed to have a nice nap in the afternoon. We need a good rain here now to wash away all the winter dust and dirt. The ground is pretty wet as yet though, so the farmers are getting anxious for it to dry up enough that they can get out in the fields and get last years crop off. It needs to come off before they can plant for this year. With all the snow we got so early last year, many of the farmers were unable to get their crops off.
Garry took our vehicles on the weekend and gave them a good wash but they look almost as bad again with all the puddles and such a person has to drive through on the streets. Yesterday was a bad day pain wise for him and I think it's because he over did things with washing both vehicles and using his hand and arm so much. Sure hope the nerve pain goes away soon.

Kathryn...So nice to hear that Ron is getting stronger, good for him for getting up and moving as much as he can. Sounds like you had a good day of getting things done too.

Trace...shin splits are not fun, hope they are better today. Thank you for being such a great inspiration.

Kathy...I have to make a Walmart run after work today to pick up some more yarn for this "new" baby blanket. It's turning out so much better than the last one. I think because it has more positive energy being built into it as opposed to how I was feeling while trying to make the last one. With MIL's death etc, I wasn't in a good space.
I am seeing very positive results from the acupuncture treatments. Many western doctors don't approve of it because they don't understand it. I am somewhat skeptical about all the claims, but figure I will just have an open mind and give it a try. At least it's not medications that add more toxins to my body. I figure it's been around for centuries so there must be something to it. Here in Canada many of our medical plans now cover acupuncture, holistic therapies, chiropractic etc. as they see the benefit of curing the issue as opposed to masking it. So many of our doctors get kick backs from the pharmaceutical companies that they would rather push the pills. With my body's inability to process chemicals I have to look for other ways to fixing things. I know that meds have their place and sometimes they are very necessary. So far we have lived our lives free from medications and are hoping to keep it that way as long as we can. I'm thrilled to say that I stepped on the scales this morning and I have eliminated 2 pounds! The scale is finally moving once more.

Nancy...hope your kitchen sink issue is all fixed and you can once again use your kitchen properly. I would be lost without my kitchen sink. I would have to go either upstairs or downstairs to wash anything and then it would be harder as the sinks are smaller *grin*. (Although it a good excuse to use paper plates or eat out *grin*)

Candi, Donna, Mauri and anyone else that is out and about...wishing you all a great day.
Hugs,
Wanda

Good evening. Been in the low 50's, but it's still damp as more rain is in the forecast.

Last night was rough, but got through it, drinking 4 liters of solution is not fun, then 10 more oz. on top of that, ugh. Thank goodness it's over with and went well. DD brought lunch to us and then I laid down and had a nice sleep this afternoon.

Kathryn always heard weed increases your appetite, I wouldn't like that, my appetite needs no help, lol. Sounds like Ron is getting stronger.

Kathy, hope you had a successful shopping day. I am happy to have the colonoscopy behind, me, hee, hee, A.J. is feeling better, could have just been his sinuses.

Wanda, sounds like yesterday turned into a great family day. If you think the acupuncture is helping hope you can figure out a way to continue.

Trace glad you had a nice break and got to do some fun things.

Irene, Dot, Mauri, Nancy, Donna, Candi and anyone else that might happen by this evening, hope your Monday was good!

Hugs,
Shirl

Kathy the weed helps with hubby's pain, but just makes me laugh and not be able to sleep. I am not smoking it again.

Positive quote-If the plan doesn't work change the plan

Had a nice day today riding the train out to Walmart. I did not find what I wanted, size large dish washing gloves for our caretaker but did pick up a few things I needed. I also went to the supermarket in that town but still no gloves. Walked over 3 miles and splurged on See's candy.
Hubby walked across the living room with out any help but his walker. He is getting stronger every day.

Good Monday Morning Sparkies...

I am planning on going to Walmart today. Running low on a few things. And I've put it off for days. Wednesday I'm heading to the dentist then while I'm over in Kissimmee I'll hit the Sam's club and then Joann's Fabric's for my Frodo Yarn. hehehe I'm getting close to finishing the body. i know I keep saying that but it's taking me forever on it. It's hard to crochet this Bulky yarn with a small hook. It even squeaks when I do it. hehehe It's tight. So it hurts my arthritis hands. hehehe

Shirl - Thinking of you today. Prayers that all turns out well with your test. Sounds like a nice time shopping with the girls for baby things and also Lunch out and then Birthday cake and ice cream. Sounds like a perfect day to me. lol Hope AJ is feeling better now.

Trace - Ouch on them Shin Splints. I used to get them when I was walking. Boy did they hurt. Glad you took a down day. Good luck getting back to it today. Deep breaths and go for it. hehehe

Kathryn - Funny to here you talk about smoking hubby's pot. It's still illegal here. Did it help your pain? Just wondering? Hope you are feeling better.

Wanda - Nice to hear that your family day turned into a BBQ party back at home. Perfect day. Glad you could enjoy a little sunshine on the deck. Won't be long (the way these months are flying by) where you will be listening to them "ocean" trees again. lol Glad them acupuncture is helping you. I talked to my Dr about it the other day and he said he doesn't recommend it. But says some do get good results from it while others do not. So I'm glad it helps you.

Nancy - Glad your dinner party turned out well. But bummer on the sink issue. Hope the plumber got it fixed. No fun not being able to use the water in the kitchen. It's the busiest place in the my house. hehehe

Hello to Candi, Irene, Dot and anyone else that may stop in...

Have a great day everyone...

Good Morning all,

A new day and a new week. We had a lovely day yesterday. It turned into a "family Day". We went for brunch to Whitespot with the the girls and then everyone came over for our first BBQ of the season at supper time. Such a beautiful day with sunshine and warm enough that we were able to haul the lawn chairs out to the front deck and soak up some much needed sunshine and warmth for a wee bit.
We had a simply supper, just hamburger and two types of salads. The company was the best.

Almost all the snow is gone where the sun reaches now and with luck we will have seen the last of the snow but not holding our breath. It always manages to snow again in May. Just hope it dries up enough for the farmers to be able to get out in the fields and get the rest of the crops off that they weren't able to last fall before snow hit. They need to get the crops off before they can plant this new season. The crops are worthless, but the fields need to be cleared. Wishing them a successful season this year.
I can see my garden beds and looking so forward to getting out there and begin working the soil.

I'm off for acupuncture again today after work. I have a couple appts a week for the next 6 weeks. I'm seeing some results that positive which is really good. Once this 6 week plan is done though, will have to make a decision on what I do next as I will have run through all my allotment with the medical plans. It's a great start though and if its working and keeping me from having knee surgery...that is the blessing.

I have a busy day ahead today at work. We got a big shipment in on Friday which needs to be unpacked and received this morning as well as any orders that need to be input. I'm looking forward to the busy day.

Shirl...thinking of you today as you go for colonoscopy. Hugs.

Wishing everyone a wonderful Monday. Trace...sounds like your holiday was a good time and you sound ready to get back to work and a routine.

Happy Monday all,

Hugs,
Wanda

Good morning all!

Back to clinic-ville I go. The opera was great, though also 4 hours long which is a lot of Wagner. Still, we all had a good time and dinner out was nice too. Had a hard time sleeping last night which I always do at the end of a vacation. Still I woke up feeling relatively good and ready for the day, so I'm off!

Have a great day everyone.

Trace sorry you were hurting during your run. Enjoy your night out.

Kathy good to hear your BP was okay. Hope you got to take a nap. I was smoking some of hubby's weed last night and could not get to sleep, every thing just seemed funny. I don't smoke often but my arthritis was hurting so with the rain coming in. I am going to bed at 6 pm.

Wanda hope you had a nice brunch.

Kathryn - Ooh, hopefully the caretaker issue will resolve quickly!

Irene - Drat, that means the lovely few weeks when my UK friends are an hour closer in time are over. Ah well. Hope you're enjoying your weekend!

Kathy - Glad you're feeling a little better.

Wanda - The ocean and I have always been good friends. I love to visit mountains and things, but I don't think I could live far from the water for long. Hope you have a lovely family lunch!

Shirl - That sounds like a really lovely day. The "I'm half way to 30" cracks me up.

Yesterday I did very little. A bit of stretching, a tiny bit of working and writing, and a lot of laying about and reading. I think I needed a "down" day badly. In fact I may need more than one given how I'm feeling today but it's not meant to be. I went for a run/walk this morning and my calves and shins felt Ridiculously tight. I actually got shin splints which I haven't had since my early days of running 7 years ago! Not sure what was up but I did the minimum running planned and walked the rest of the way, and stopped to stretch quite a few times.

This afternoon my friends B and M and I are going to see an opera. It really has been a long time. The last one I saw I without being In it was 1999, and the last one I was in was in 2001. I'm definitely due. Nothing like diving into the deep end of the pool too, since this is Wagner. There's an opera company a couple of towns over which does everything in English, and with just piano to allow for more intimate venues and better storytelling... which is just the sort of thing my friends and I in college always talked about doing. I'm excited to see it in action. Pretty sure we're also going out to eat, so I ate a nice, sensible brunch and have plenty of room left in the food budget for dinner with friends.

Ok, now off to get ready!

Good last Sunday of March, time to march into April. Today is an all liquid day, getting ready for colonoscopy early in the morning, will just be glad when it's done and over with. It rained all day and through the night, suppose to rain most of the day and night again today, but the temp will be a little warmer, yesterday it was very cool.

Shopping was so much fun, by four of us going in together we were able to purchase $181 of baby gifts. After shopping we went to Cheddar's for lunch and it was packed and noisy, I had salmon with bourbon sauce over rice, steamed broccoli and fresh coleslaw, it was very good. My DD, Debbie had brought her GD, Emily along as Tuesday is her 15th birthday, she's funny, she said "I am half way to 30", I told her those 15 yrs. will go by very quickly and she'll be 30 before she knows it, so don't rush it. That evening we went to her house for an ice cream birthday cake. All in all a very nice day.

Wanda enjoy your family brunch time this morning. A.J. didn't make it for the ice cream cake, Debbie's been giving him stuff to help him with the stuffiness so he can breathe better and get some rest, it was good he didn't get out in that weather yesterday, we are suppose to have rain through Tuesday.

Nancy glad your dinner went well, but sorry you ended up with a sink problem. It will be nice as you start introducing different foods back into your diet and being able to see which ones are causing the most problems.

Kathy glad your BP went back up. Sounds like you are real close to finishing Frodo. A.J.'s mom is giving him over the counter meds to help him, he gets real stuffed up, this rainy weather probably isn't helping.

Irene, I like that Mothering Day, have a good one. Mother's Day over here is so commercial.

Kathryn hope all works out for you with the helper situation.

Trace sounds like you had a nice day yesterday even with all the extra running around trying to get to that beach. We ate at Cheddars yesterday, the food was good, but it was packed and so noisy, I like less noisy eating places too.

Mauri hope you are feeling better.

Donna, Dot, Candi and anyone who stops by, have a blessed and serene Sunday!

Hugs,
Shirl

Good Morning all,

A good day yesterday of getting caught up on household chores. Ready for a new week ahead.

Change of plans this morning. Garry, Shy and I are going to head into the city and have brunch with Kaeli this morning. The craft show we were going to attend was only one day! Not sure how we missed that but seeing as it isn't on today we thought we would save Kaeli a drive out to us and go to her instead.
Kyle and his dad are doing their thing this morning so it works out for all of us.

Shirl...hope you found the perfect gift yesterday for the new baby. It's so much fun shopping for little ones now. Not sure if it's because there is more choice than when ours were little, more time without little ones with you, or just that fact we may have more funds! It's just more fun *grin*. Hope that AJ is feeling better and that your neighbor is doing better also.

Kathy...our snow is melting off very quickly and I'm getting excited about the trees beginning to leave out soon. I can hardly wait for my "ocean" trees to begin giving me that relaxing sound of of waves. It will be another couple of months but just knowing spring then summer is coming is so uplifting. Hope you are feeling better.

Kathryn...hope you can get the assist that you need.

Trace...being at the beach and just relaxing and listening to the sound of the waves is a perfect day in my books. I'm such a water person. The sound of the waves and being by the water is my perfect spot to be. I'm hoping that someday when we can retire that we will be able to live by water.

Irene...Have a wonderful Mothering Day. I love the name of that. To me, it just sounds so much more inclusive.

Have a blessed and wonderful Sunday everyone,
Hugs,
Wanda

Hello Positive People.
Sorry that I disappeared for a couple of days. DH came home from his conference yesterday and left early this morning for 2 weeks "vacation"(?) with his mom. He goes for a couple of weeks twice a year to get her affairs in order.

The dinner went smoothly. Everyone seemed to be satisfied. So after the dust of that occasion settled and the cleanup began, the sink in the kitchen became plugged and is now leaking. So today I get to call the plumber and make an appointment to get that taken of. DH fiddled with it a bit, but gave up and said, just call the plumber. So, my kitchen is less than tidy right now.

My elimination diet is still hanging in there. 5 days left until I begin the process of assessing foods by reintroducing them into my diet. That will be a long process, but it is an important step that could save me the thousands of dollars for elaborate testing to discover food sensitivities. I'm so bored of the process that it has been a bit of a struggle this past week and I have eaten more allowed fruits than I normally do, just to stick with the process. This morning I have worked on my menu for the week to make sure I make it to the finish line on Thursday.

Thanks for keeping the home fires burning. I look forward to this week's challenges and keeping up with your journeys. Have a very positive and serene Sunday. I'll see ya later.

~Nancy~

Good Morning my friends...

Irene - Happy Mothering Sunday to you. You are very positive and encouraging yourself. Thank you for that.

Shirl - How did your shopping go? Did you find something for the wee one? Hope AJ gets to feeling better.

Trace - What a nice day you had on your beach adventure. Except for the busy loud place you went to eat. I'm with you and would bring a lunch with me next time. the beach does wonderful things for you. Love to sit and listen to the waves. Glad you had a nice time.

Kathryn - Hope you are feeling better. Nice that you can get a helper to help you as well. I didn't realize that you were disabled as well. Good luck with that. Thanks for the positive quote. They are encouraging.

Wanda - How did things go with your BIL? What have you been up too this weekend?

My BP finally got back up to normal yesterday after I ate some breakfast. But I still have no energy. So not sure what is going on. Feel like a nap again and just got up. hehehe
I ended up watching movies all day and crocheting on my Frodo dog. Got a lot of his body done. Going to try to finish that up today.

Have a great day everyone...

Thank you for the encouraging comments and support , they do help.
It looks like Spring makes us all feel we can move forward again, I certainly feel more positive. The clocks went on last night in Uk . It is also the traditional Mothering Sunday , which started centuries ago in England as a simple day to honour mothers . No expensjve gifts and cards, maybe a few wild flowers if they were available. It was taken over as a big commercial event much later , enjoy your day .

Just having a resting day at home, do a little Sparking, watching T.V., maybe do a little bead work, just taking it easy.

Had an interview with a social worker yesterday about getting a caretaker for me. Just to remind me to take med, and do housework when hubby is not home. The caretaker we have now says she will help me. The social worker says I maybe approved easily, I am disabled.

Positive quote-Today I refuse to stress myself out about the things I can not control or change.

Trace it sounds like your beach trip was fun and healthy. All that walking sounds like my idea of fun. Sorry you got the blisters, but glad you found shoes to replace those darn sandals.

Candi I make stoup all the time, can't seem to make soup.

Irene good for you getting back on track and beating that cancer monster emoticon

Wanda sounds like you had a very busy work day, enjoy your time off. I thought of you as I was repotting one of my bell pepper plants

Shirl - Sounds like you had a busy prep day. Baby gift shopping sounds fun though!

Kathryn - I really love your quote. There really isn't failure. There's just making different choices.

Candi - Your stoup sounds delicious. That's how our soups often are at home too. I love broth but there are so many good things to put in a soup and the noodles absorb a lot of broth so stoup it is!

Irene - A very good friend of mine fought cancer for years with this saying. "You can't hit a moving target". His plan was to be as strong and active as possible so that the cancer was dealing with a brick wall rather than a paper one. It's hard to look past that giant C. Good for you for looking at your general health! Your words also really hit home, and are making me think. Thank you.

Wanda - Enjoy the weekend slowdown, and time to do the things you want to do! My fingers are crossed for Kaeli. It's strange, and true, that our feelings and mindset when we're making something can really affect how it turns out. I hope the new blanket lifts you up as you make it!

Kathy - Hope you're feeling a bit stronger. BP can do some strange things to a body!

The beach adventure was interesting! I biked to that bus route, got on the bus, and rode for about an hour. Then got confused and distracted as I hadn't been to this place in 7 years and never by bus, so I got off at the wrong stop. I walked to the park, but my phone GPS told me the beach was on another finger (tiny penninsula) so I walked to where it said it was, which it wasn't, and then back to the park. Once I finally Found the beach I had a lovely hour or so sitting in the shade of a palm tree feeling the wind and listening to the ocean. I wrote a little which was part of the plan but mostly I just turned "off" for a bit. That was wonderful.

Less wonderful were the blisters my left sandal gave me (that pair needed replacing) and the incredibly crowded and loud restaurant for lunch. The food was good but I ended up just getting an appetizer and then fleeing. It was too loud and not where I wanted to be. Probably that would have been a great place if someone had come out to join me but the few people I reached out to all had other plans. I enjoy going out to eat by myself, but usually in quieter places.

The trip back to the mall was fine, and I not only got my brows done but replaced the sandals of pain. Then I bought a gyro as I was still hungry, bussed back to my bike, and biked home. It was a good day but I was completely worn out by the time I got home and pretty much just read for the rest of the day. 4 miles of walking and almost 7 on the bike, plus a Lot of time in the sun (with minimal sun-color the next day, go me).

I definitely want to do that more often, though probably without the extra 4 mile walk and with a picnic lunch. Will have to explore other beaches nearby as well as the two I know about that are relatively close are Very very small and not the kind you get into the water on.

I slept pretty badly last night, not sure why, and am a little out of it today but still getting things done a bit at a time.

Have a great day everyone!

Good rainy Saturday morning. Silly Saturday is posted. Waiting for my DD and GD to pick me up for our baby shower shopping trip. A.J. isn't feeling well so he's not coming in to visit grandpa. The ambulance took the lady down the hall this morning, her helper said she was having trouble breathing. There's still a lot of stuff going around making people sick.

Kathy yesterday you had snuck in on me, hope your BP comes up for you. Take it easy today.

Wanda sounds like yesterday was a very busy day for you at work. Have fun with Miss Skye. Glad things are looking brighter for Kaeli. Have with your girls at brunch tomorrow.

Irene sorry for your cancer diagnoses, will be praying for you that all will work out for you. That positive outlook that there are things you can do to help yourself will help.

Candi I'll try and push some of our weather your way. Yesterday was so nice, we hit 78, now today it's rain and we may see 50, not such a nice day for our baby shower gift shopping, but a little rain isn't going to dampen our fun. Your soup sounds delish or stoup, lol. Glad DH was feeling a little better.

Kathryn good quote. Hope you get to feeling better.

Nancy, Donna, Dot, Trace, Mauri and anyone else that may stop by, have a great silly Sat. and all who are not feeling so well, hope you get to feeling better.

Hugs,

Hope all that are sick get better today. And those that are off doing wonderful things Enjoy! hehehe
I wanted to go to JoAnn's Fabrics later for yarn... but that may have to wait for another day.

Have a good day everyone... emoticon

Good Morning all,

YAY it's the weekend. I love when I have time at home to catch up on all the household chores without feeling like it's go, go, go.

Very busy day at work yesterday. We have 2 in our dept. that are out with the flu. I managed to put in a whole day at work, but certainly was glad when home time rolled around. Huge shipment that had to be unpacked in the morning as well as received. I had just finished it when we got a second large shipment in. Unfortunately it will have to wait until Monday to be dealt with as I had orders that needed to be done. I have a stack of books for my reading pleasure that all arrived on the holds shelf this week at work and not sure when I am going to get the time to read them LOL.

Had more of a sleep last night but still woke up early and decided to get up and begin my day. Laundry will be started as soon as I finish here and then I need to decide what we are having for supper tonight and get things ready. Floors need to be done, dusting etc.
Tonight we are doggie sitting as Shy and Kyle have a dinner to attend with his family. It will be fun to have "Miss Skye" over for a visit, she always manages to brighten up the day.

Kaeli's phone interview seems to have gone well as far as she felt. They are going to call her next week to give her their decision. She is excited about the job prospect, but it will come down to what the pay will be I think in the end. The plus side is she feels like life is beginning to move forward once again for her. She really needs to get out of the negative environment that she is in right now, but has to have a job before she can make that move.

Melting happening this weekend and I can actually see the tops of my raised garden beds...I'm getting excited about planting time! I need to get some of my seeds started in the house as I still haven't done that. They hopefully will be ready to transplant into the ground come May long weekend.

The girls and I are going out to brunch tomorrow morning and then heading off to a craft fair to have a look see. Unless I see a very good bargain though, I will not be doing any spending.

I finished off the baby blanket I was working on, but not happy with the end result. It's ok to use myself for something, but not for gift giving. I started a new one that is going so much better. The energy feels so much better with this one. I think the other one just had too many sad feelings attached to it as I started making it as a way of distracting myself with MIL's dying. This time it's all about the new baby's arrival in April. I will have to go to the store and pick up a bit more wool as I don't have enough to finish it and do not want to take apart the other one to have enough.

Garry is still gathering up all his income tax stuff, so looks like I have a reprieve from doing them this weekend, but they really need to be done soon!

Wishing everyone a great and wonderful day. Time for me to get moving here and be productive.

Hugs,
Wanda

Kathryn I loved your positive quote today. It hit home with me,
My word of the day is Realisation, I have relaxed my exercise and eating healthy foods lately , I had a cancer diagnosis and I think I was concentrating on that more than looking after my general health ,
At the end of April I go for my first post surgery check up. I now realise I must look after myself and be healthier so i can cope with what ever I am told on that check
I am realising I can start now and do something extra each day so I walk into the cancer unit lighter and more positive . Irene

Evening everyone, For those that asked the chicken soup was great. I make it with chicken, my home made stock, carrots, celery, peas, wide no yoke noodles and just because that's the way my Mom made it I add a can of diced tomatoes. Then spices and let it simmer most of the day. Hubby ate a good sized bowl which is good. I used to watch Rachel Ray's cooking show and my DH started calling all my soups "stoups" as she called hers, she said they were to thin to be stew and to thick to be soup, hence "Stoup". He is still not up to par although he did take the dryer apart and clean out the vent hose as the dryer wasn't drying right. Yesterday was wash day for me and I had a bit of a problem with the clothes getting dry.

Nancy how did your dinner go, I bet everyone is a bit healthier today.

Shirl we hear that Spring has come to the southern part of our states, wish it would come up this way. My DH always needs his slacks shortened, he's 5' 7" and only wears a 29 inch length so he does it himself. A friend used to do it for him until we moved north so he went back to doing it himself. The stitches would just come out if I did it, I wear petites so normally they don't need shortening.

Kathryn, feel better soon, love your Quote.

Trace how was your trip to the beach, did you find someone to have lunch with?

Wanda, Feel better soon.

Kathy as I said wash day was yesterday for me, took a bit longer as the clothes wouldn't dry. My cookie of choice for dunking is OREO's with milk. So I don't let hubby buy them any more. And by the way except for 1/4 cup on my cereal I don't drink milk with out them.

Night All, emoticon

Positive quote-Don't fear failure. Fear being in the same place next year as you are today.

I don't like that I am in about the same place I have been for a few years and am taking control of my life again.

I am sick again but not turning to comfort foods to sooth me this time. I am reading, taking walks and drawing. I have not bean doing large evening snacking and the scale shows it, down two pounds this week. I am watching portions and eating lower calorie foods. I have found that the Meals on Wheels dinners are about 300 calories each and very feeling. Lets hope you know who doesn't take them away from our low income seniors, just when I'm finely old enough for them.

Wanda sorry your not feeling well, hope you don't get the flue emoticon

Kathy three cookies not really so bad you could have eaten a dozen. Give yourself points for not binging. You know me I would have eaten them until I was stuffed and still kept going if there was more.

Good morning. We had some rain during the night, temp was 48 when I got up and is going up to 60 and chance of showers again today. Was just getting ready to get a post ready when my niece in FL called, we had a nice chat.

Want to do some cleaning today, we have a load of dark clothes in the laundry right now, need to do some sweeping and mopping. A.J. is coming to visit with grandpa tomorrow while his mom and I go do the shopping for baby gifts, they'll probably watch movies. Going to pick up a couple TV dinners for them today, that way lunch will be easy for grandpa to fix.

Trace enjoy your beach time, lunch and getting your brows done.

Wanda hope the fogginess has cleared up for you, thank goodness it's Friday, maybe you'll be able to sleep in tomorrow.

Kathryn I'll go check out your challenge. You are still doing good with your walking.

Kathy, Nancy, Dot, Irene, Mauri, Candi, Donna and anyone else that stops by, have a fab Friday!

Hugs,

Good Morning Spark Friends...

Candi - I was doing so well with them cookies. I didn't even touch them all day until I made a cup of coffee to help me stay awake to watch all my Thursday night Shows on ABC... That is when them cookies called to me. hehehe I tried to drink the coffee fast so I wouldn't go back to more. I had 3. Great for dunking. hehehe I know Bad Mermaid! LOL
So I will be good today. I've got laundry to do today so that will keep me busy part of the time. lol
emoticon Hope your hubby is feeling better today. That chicken soup sounds good and healthy. Although your original meal plan sounded great. Just save it for when he feels better.

Nancy - You dinner sounds wonderful and perfect for your special guest. I hope the evening goes well for you and hubby.

Shirl - Hemming pants is one of my least favorite things to do. Andy will sometimes buy pants that are too long and want me to hem them. I'm glad they last a long time. hehehe He wears shorts most of the time here.
Good for you keeping up with that bike riding. I need to get back to mine as well. glad you weather is slowly getting a little warmer. Maybe you will get some spring flowers soon. lol
We are high of 78 today then it goes up to 80's.

Kathryn - Nice quote and great to post it for your hubby. Good for you still getting them walks in. How are you feeling?

Trace - Great plan to call friends to join you for lunch. Makes for a nice time. Glad you get time to do that. I can so relate to talking myself out of going places. I do that all the time. But then remember that I do enjoy myself if I can get myself up and out the door. hehehe
As for hair cut... I had long hair for years and just recently cut it to about my shoulders. I really like it but really miss my long hair too. I wanted to put a under layer of blue color while it was long but didn't get to it. So may grow it out a little to do that. hehehe

Not much happening here today. Some laundry and really need to do some crocheting. Oh and I found some Crocheted Dream-catchers that DD likes. So I will try to make one for her birthday. So that means I need to get moving because hers and her DH's birthday are the beginning of June. Going to make him his very own Dragon. He loved the ones I made the grandkids. So best get moving with that. I've been on break from Crocheting except for the doggie sweater I made last week. lol Need to work on Frodo too. Today! hehehe

Have a great day everyone...

Wanda - I hope the visit was as good for Garry as it sounds like it will be! Finding your path can be very hard but it sounds like Kaeli is making big steps in that direction. Very cool, and very inspiring.

Irene - You're absolutely right. You get to choose what you go to, and what you ignore. I think a lot of us wait too long to realize that and get bent and tired from doing the "shoulds". I hope you slept better last night!

Kathy - Peanut butter cookies are dangerously good. Dentists on the other hand....

Candi - How was the soup?

Nancy - Hope the evening was fantastic. The menu sounds great!

Shirl - Hmm, healthy coffee treats. There might be some really good options there! I'm always sad when I go to a coffee shop and everything is huge and sweet and not very good for me.

I'm in early today to make up for not coming in yesterday, also because this is my "vacation" day! No job2, just a bit of online time and then it's off on adventure! I was talked out of cutting my hair for now so I'm actually going to do beach and then brows on the way home. Beach also got shifted earlier so I'm ending with lunch at the beach bar instead of starting with that. It's funny, I almost talked myself out of going this morning. I love getting out and doing things but with not driving it all takes a lot longer than it does for other people and I often end up talking myself into staying home and getting things accomplished instead. My bathing suit is on now though so I feel like I've passed the point of no return. I'm bringing my notebooks with me since the plan is to do a bit of writing while I'm there, but I think I'm also going to text some friends and see if anyone wants to join me for lunch.

Friday challenge? I must go look!

Have a great day all! I'll be back on later to post at least one picture from today.

Good Morning all,

I have brain fog this morning, a very restless night and a low grade headache this morning. Unfortunately I need to be at work as we already have 2 down with the flu in our department. Will see if I can get the priority stuff done and then maybe slip home early.

I will read up on the posts later and have a chat when I feel like I can make some sense.

Hugs,

Positive quote-The pain of the process is only temporary but the feeling of achievement lasts forever.

I saw this and thought of my hubby, he is having an off day today so posted this on the wall near his bed for him. But it can talk to us all too. I have been taking my walks even though my feet hurt again. I put in a little over two miles today and felt proud to record my miles on the fitness tracker. I am aiming for my 15 miles a week but am happy with the 9, I have done so far this week. If I don't reach 15 I will not beat myself up I am still way pass my 5 miles a week I was first aiming for since hubby came home.

Good late afternoon. I thought I'd logged in today, but discovered I hadn't been here at all. I got 2 more pair of Herbs pants hemmed for him, have two left to go, he's coming down around 5 to pick them up. I got one bike ride in, hope to get back up for one more, Margaret's allergies were bothering her, so we didn't walk today. I actually went to coffee hour this morning after my bike ride, didn't eat any goodies and drank water, I haven't been in quite a while, kept forgetting. I volunteered for treats for the April coffee hour, will try and come up with some healthier treats.

Nancy your menu sounds great, now what time did you say we're eating, lol.

Candi emoticon to you and DH, we're 3 yrs. behind you. Sorry DH is not feeling very well, I am sure you can't wait till 4/6 gets here. Will keep you both in prayer.

Kathy glad you are getting your teeth problems taken care of. Cabbage soup sounds good. We are at 45 today, but suppose to start warming up tomorrow, may even see 60's, but a chance of rain.

Irene that terrorist attack is terrible, prayers for all the people affected. I though of you today while I was sitting on my little stool at my sewing machine, I have padding, but felt like I was sitting on my bones.

Wanda, glad Kaeli got accepted as a volunteer, hope her phone interview went well. That's nice you'll be able to see your BIL and him and Garry can have some brother time. That's nice that Shyra is going to have her grandma's dished, how special. Sounds like that acupuncture is working for you.

Trace which one did you do beach or hair and brows?

Kathryn glad Ron got his ears cleaned out, Clenton had his done before he saw the hearing specialist.

Mauri hope you get to feeling better.

Donna, Dot and anyone else that happens by, hope you are having a good Thursday!

Happy Thursday positive friends. Just popping into say "hi". I've got 3 hours to get my dinner party together. Since I "control" the menu, we are having steaks on the grill and grilled vegetables. For hors d'oeuvres I'm making a vegetable tray, a fruit and cheese plate, and shrimp cocktail. Aside from the cheese, bread and dessert, all stuff that I can eat on my plan. I'll let you know how the evening goes. I have to get cracking here! Have a great day!

Thank you all for the Anniversary wish. I can't say its all been a rose garden but then a rose garden has a lot of thorns doesn't it. I think we will be changing today's menu as hubby doesn't feel up to that much food, new menu is Homemade Chicken noodle soup.

Kathryn I can't remember the last time we even had Q tips in the house, we have our ears cleaned at the Dr. when we have our physical each year. Believe I heard years ago that they are the worst thing to use in your ear, just pushes the wax farther in. Glad your DH can hear again. Good going on the eating, I think that I was a good girl even with the company this past week end, at least the scale said I was, no loss but no gain.

Trace We lived from week to week for years when the 3 kids were home, pay this this week and that next, then of course we had to eat not to mention shoes and clothes for 3 kids. We didn't "want" for anything but their was never any extra. It was after they had all left home and started their own lives that we could start a retirement account. Before that we had a small bit of savings for emergencies but not much. But our credit was and still is great. great going on those walks keep it up. And thank you for the good wishes friend.

Wanda how are Garry's shingles doing you haven't mentioned them lately, hope its going away. I don't "feel" the needles when I need blood work or a shot but I KNOW they are going in.

Irene I feel for anyone who doesn't sleep well as an insomniac since I was young I know how it feels to not get in those 8 hours. Its when the sleepless nights run into 3-4 in a row that I walk around like a zombie. We saw on the news last night about the attack in London, I feel so bad for the families involved. I just don't know why everyone feels the need to push there idea of religion on anyone else. I know how I believe and think everyone is entitled to their own beliefs. As far as I'm concerned we each came from the good Lord no matter how we believe.

Kathy Thank you for the good wishes. I know I can "vent" here but do not wish to bring you all down. But thank you. Hey if you "can" stick to ONE cookie you made up for it with the cabbage soup, right. LOL

Got to go swap out the wash loads, have a great day everyone.

Good Morning Sparkies...

I made a pot of diet cabbage soup yesterday. It was so good. Then I was bad and made Peanut Butter cookies again and ate a bunch of them... Ugh... Bad Mermaid! Just needed some comfort food I guess. hehehe

I have an appt with the dr today... Need to get an appt with the dentist office again and have my new partial adjusted. Not sure if the Dr has to be there or not. But I should get that other procedure handled too. Before I loose my bottom center tooth. They want to bridge them together or something like that. Simple thing but I'm just so tired of appts. But will call them today anyway. Needs to be done.

Candi - Sorry to hear that hubby's numbers are worse. Prayers for him that the 4/6 dr appt can help figure out what is going on. I know you are very worried at this point. Big hugs for you. Hang in there. We are here to listen if you need us. Oh and Happy Anniversary to you both! wow 54 years! Wonderful!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Shirl - Sorry that Winter is still in your area. We were in the 80's yesterday but now today should be high of 77... So won't be too bad a day. Soon it will be back in the 80's.
Good Luck with the taxes. I'm so thankful for the accountant we have. Our taxes are a little more complicated with the rental properties.
Glad you are getting your walks in with Margarete.

Nancy - I can so relate to getting knocked off my good eating... But all we can do is start over right? Good luck with your service... I did the same thing to try to lower my bill with the cable. It will increase once the discount if over. But at that point I think I'm going to give up some other things to lower it. Like the phone that only rings when it's an automated call is coming in that we don't want to talk too. Ugh! LOL
Good luck with your dinner party... What did you decide to serve them?

Trace - Sounds like you are really enjoying your vacation. Good for you. And nice that you helped with the weeding. My DD helped with my pond garden as I can't get down there to pull them. So did you decide on the beach or hair and brows? Love pampering myself when I can. Enjoy the opera as well as time with your friends...

Irene - It was nice that you got out to that meeting but yes I so feel your pain of trying to get up off that chair. I'm like that today for sure. I think I sat too long yesterday. Love the way you think. Keep on sharing your way of thinking. I so enjoy it. It makes me think! hehehe

Wanda - Glad you are enjoying the pic's. I tried making the grandpuppy a sweater. The first one was too small so did another one and it was too big. lol so I give up. hehehe I'm glad that you are seeing progress with the acupuncture. Wow that is great that your knees are feeling better. I really need to look into that and see how many visits our insurance will pay for. Good luck to you with taxes. I'm like you and they stress me out to the max. Not sure why but I hate doing them. So thankful for my accountant.
Good luck to Garry and siblings on getting MIL's place ready to sell. Nice that Shrya will get her dishes. Enjoy your visit with BIL.

Kathryn - Glad all went well with Hubby's appt. My FIL had lots and lots of wax build up until I made him have the dr check it. They cleaned it out. It took a long time (hour) and then he couldn't believe the difference. Glad it helped Ron too. Hope you are feeling better now.

Have a great day everyone...

Just popping in today , I had a bad night then I am tired the next day. Not helped by the news from London which had taken over tv. . We all feel the same I am sure that terrorist attacks will not undermine our beliefs and our democracy .
Thank you for sympathy and comments on my arthritis problems , I will take a cushion to meetings, i will also look long and hard at each event asking myself do I really want to go to this meeting or event, I am going to join the ladies in the poem about when I get old I shall wear purple! I do wear purple but I like the concept of that we have the right to chose what we do without and excuses,

Good Morning all,

The snow missed us yesterday and last night, so no shoveling required this morning YAY!

I had my acupuncture session yesterday and I am seeing some signs of improvement so will continue to go as long as the medical plans we have cover it. (so basically for the next 6 weeks).

BIL is coming for dinner and to spend the night with us tonight. It will be nice to see him again without the stress and worry of MIL hanging over us. Garry could use a good visit with his brother.

Candi...Belated Happy Anniversary to you both. 54 years is a wonderful milestone to have, we are coming up on our 43rd this year. Praying that you get some answers to what is happening with hubby and he can begin the road to recovery. The not knowing is what is so hard to deal with. I must say the acupuncture treatments are not as bad as I had thought they would be. I'm not a fan of needles either, but if it means I can avoid medications and surgery, I'm willing to give it a try. Surprisingly enough, you really don't feel them going in.

Shirl...Hope all went well with getting your taxes done. I'm not looking forward to getting our done, they stress me out so much (at least Garry's do, mine are simple). I'm looking forward to the day that his are simple also. Hope your results from the colonoscopy are good results.
Kaeli had her interview with the Hospice yesterday and has been accepted as a volunteer. She is very excited about working there. She is leaning towards becoming an "End of Life" doula and this will give her the experience and opportunity to try it out first before putting money into classes. She has her phone interview tomorrow for the new paying job she is seeking. She finally feels like she is moving towards what she is meant to do. As long as she is happy and can pay her bills, then I am happy also. She is such an amazing woman and so strong. Hoping that she continues on the path she is meant to travel.

Nancy...Hope that your dinner went well and that you had a lovely time. I think you most likely nailed it with the meal as you are so creative. Enjoy your day today.

Trace...vacation time is so wonderful, it sounds like you are really enjoying your down time even with having the 2nd job. I have some holiday time coming up in May that I am really looking forward to. Not sure what we will be doing, but even if it is a staycation, I will enjoy the time off.

Irene...I hear you on the hard seats at meetings...I have cushion on my bottom and I still find the seats hard to sit on for long periods. I have a meeting with one of our vendors today that will likely be a long on. On the plus side we get to sit in "executive" chairs so will be somewhat comfortable *grin*.

Kathryn...glad to hear that Ron is able to hear better. Should make your life easier now *grin*.

Kathy...how you doing? Loved the pictures on FB. Your creative talents just have no end.

Time to get ready for another day of working. Have a wonderful day everyone,

Hugs,
Wanda

Irene - That's a tough choice and definitely goes along with adjusting. What do you think you'll do?

Wanda - I love paying bills. It feels amazing. I spent a very long time not being able to pay anything on time and always juggling so even when I have nothing left over once I'm done I love doing it. Enjoy, and look ahead to not having to think about taxes for a long time!

Nancy - Sleep is absolutely king. Glad you had a good night's worth.

Shirl - You'd best believe I counted the weeding! (I only counted half of it though because I do it kneeling down mostly). Hope the weather stays beautiful for you.

Candi - Sometimes staying in is a better choice. Happy early anniversary! 54 years is a wonderful long time.

Kathryn - Glad your hubby can hear better. That must have been enlightening!

I had a good day today. Went for a walk/run this morning and upped the reps for my strength training routine too, then settled in for a big work day on job2. I decided on a beach day on Friday so want to earn enough that I can take the whole day off without thinking about the lost income (too much, I know I'll think about it a little since it's me). Not a lot else happened but it's been relaxing. Job2 honestly tends to be. It's like I'm playing a video game except that when I complete quests/tasks I get paid.

Anyway, time to finish that up and go to sleep. Have a great night everyone!

Positive quote-You get what you focus on.

Staying home today, all went well yesterday at the VA. Hubby did well with his first time getting his ears flushed. The nurse flushed out a bit chuck of ear war. He can hear better and won't put off so long getting it taken care of next time. Also we are no longer using q-tips in his ears.

I am staying on track with my eating today.

Afternoon everyone, Hubby says thank you all for the good wishes, and that comes from me also. Yes it has us both scared to death. This morning he felt a bit better for a couple of hours even headed to the IGA store in our little town while I was working out. Gone for 15 minutes and came back drained of energy. Tomorrow is our 54th anniversary but I believe we will not go out as usual because of the way he feels. I'll just grill a Flank Steak, bake him a potato if he wants one and make a big salad. Temps here are cold, mid 20's, but its sunny with no wind. Hubby said it really cold out though.

Shirl, I believe he got the 4'6 appointment because of a cancellation as they told me when I called (because we hadn't heard anything after 3 days) that there wasn't an appointment until May.I do not envy you that colonoscopy, as far as I'm concerned the worst part is the prep;, terrible stuff. Taxes, we haven't had to file for several years now, guess that's the up side to getting old and the bottom falling out of the economy. But then we don't have a house payment, property is paid for ect. only utilities, car payment and our credit card which is paid off each month. All that was taken care of this morning as today is SS day for us, pension day is the first.

Nancy You did not fall off that wagon, just leaned over the side a bit. Try to find something to do outside while the roofers are there, you'll still hear it but it won't be right over your head. good luck with your Dinner guest.

Trace Enjoy your vacation. I love just about any type of music except the stuff they had in the 80's & 90's. I have never listened to opera but remember a few movies from back in the 40's that had opera singers from the day in them and loved their voices.

Irene, Maybe you should get yourself a cushion for those long meetings, My Mom used to use one for the chairs at the Bingo Hall, she said her "bony" bottom didn't like the hard seats. (not her words but "nicer" then hers)

Wanda sounds like the Acupuncture may work for you, hope so. I don't like needles, don't even look when they draw blood, so really don't think I could do that.

Well time for an other "stroll" have a great day every one.

Good morning. It's cool, but sunny, temps are suppose to start going up again after tomorrow. We'll be leaving soon to get the taxes done, I get a little up tight as I am the one responsible for gathering all the right papers, and I know my BP is up, checked and yep, it's up and makes me feel funny, not in a good way, oh well, this to will pass.

Nancy you'll have to let us know what you decided to make for the company that's coming for dinner.

Wanda enjoy visiting with BIL.

Irene sorry the meeting went so long, if I sit too long I have trouble getting up and moving, I blame it on the arthritis.

Trace sounds like you are enjoying your break, even doing the weeding, you know that counts as exercise too.

Everyone else have a great Wed.

Hugs,
Shirl

Good Morning my positive friends.
I made a point to get to bed before 10 last night so I could get my 8 hours and I had a nice 8 1/2 hours of uninterrupted sleep! NICE! The roofers should be here soon. And the pool guy is coming. Busy day. The AT&T man did finally come yesterday. He did not take long to accomplish his task. Now we'll just have to wait and see what's going on with the bill.

DH has invited four guests for dinner tomorrow night. I have to figure out a menu. I guess I'll have to take a trip through my Whole30 Cookbook. I know they have a dinner party menu. Maybe that will give me some ideas. I'm sure I'll be able to figure something out. That means I'll have to go to the grocery store today to pick up supplies. So I guess that's what I'm doing today along with cleaning and getting ready for company.

Have a great Wednesday. Hope all is going well.

~Nancy~

Good Morning all,

Irene...I'm joining you today in feeling a bit stiff and sore. I'm "adjusting" also. It is the side effect of the acupuncture treatment yesterday. My body is just releasing the toxins that it has been storing for far too long. I go for another treatment today and am hopeful that I will continue to improve. So excited to report that after the first treatment, what I thought was just a "fatty" build up on my right knee has entirely disappeared and I have much better movement in both knees. Progress is being made.

It is payday today and I'm looking forward to coming home after work and paying all the bills that will be due at the beginning of next month. It's always such a good feeling to have that part of budgeting done. This weekend I hope to begin the task of doing our income taxes and getting them filed. One more stress factor that I can eliminate, Woo Hoo!

Thursday, Garry's brother will be in town and spending the night with us. It will be nice to see him again. They (the siblings) are all planning on heading back to Saskatchewan at the end of this month to get their Mom's house all prepped to put on the market and to finish with the clean-up that will be required. They have been gathering stuff up for the estate sale also in the spring. Garry will pack up his Mom's good china and bring it back home where it will find it's new home with Shyra. It will be nice when all is done and they can all begin the healing process.

Time to head off to work,
Have a great day everyone, I will try to check in again later.

Hugs,
Wanda

Good morning , I start my day early with a cup of tea and a chat on line with friends and team members, I like the word of the day on here, it makes me think, I put adjusting today, it's something I need to do adjusting to changes in my life . We all need to do that at times,
On Monday evening I was at a monthly meeting of a ladies club. The main speaker did an interesting talk on Victorian toys but oh he went in far too long. We were on hard upright chairs ,I struggled to get up at the end of the evening, I was so stiff. Then yesterday I was so stiff achey and tired I did little all day .
So of I want to carry on going to evening meetings I have to accept arthritis will flare up and I won't be able to do much the next day, it's up to me !
Have a good day .

Candi - Hope your hubby feels better soon. It's hard when you don't know

Nancy - Those days happen, and it sounds like you did pretty well even without enthusiasm. It Also sounds like you have a lot of stress going on right now so be gentle with yourself. The horse will be there when you're ready to climb back on.

Shirl - Ooh, taxes. Also nice to hear about the crunches. Good to challenge yourself!

Kathryn - Allergies can be really miserable. I hope you feel better soon!

Kathy - It sounds like you've earned a rest, and vongrats on the loss!

Wanda - Fingers crossed for Kaeli either way it goes. Also, please send me some snow. I miss it...

Today was a day of hard work. I went for a sunrise walk which was lovely, and spent a couple of hours in the garden doing the weeding mom can't do anymore. I'm in no way a gardener. I love being outside in nature but not gardening, so it's a labor of love. I spent a good bit of time at job2 and did the sketch recording for another song today too. Now it's evening and I'm ready to relax! Trying to decide at this point between a beach day and a "get your hair and brows done" outing. It also looks like I'm going to an opera on Sunday. That was my major in college and I once wanted more than anything to be an opera singer. It's weird how long it's been since I went to see one. Going with either one or two good friends which should be fun.

This vacation is really giving me a taste for what summer will be like. One of the best things about my job is the schedule. Breaks are really good for the soul and I do a Lot better with them. Even though it means less income it's a really good choice for my mental state. It took a long time to learn that but there we are.

Happy Tuesday afternoon.

Trace, yes, the phone company finally called back. A technician is due here any minute to upgrade our equipment. God only knows what I signed up for. My goal was to make the monthly bill lower, I have no idea if that was accomplished and won't know until next month, I guess. Too much doublespeak and omitting key details on the phone. (details like this price will go up in six months when the "special" expires) We shall see. Hope you are milking that vacation for all it's worth.

Candi, some prayers for your hubby are on the way. Scary time for you both.

Kathryn, hope your DH gets his ear problem taken care of, and that his health improves as well. You two are on the prayer list as well.

Shirl, I am proud of you and your latest "streak" of good choices. You're doing great.

Kathy, woo hoo on dropping some pounds. Always a nice treat.

Irene, I just checked the time in your neighborhood. You're about 5 hours ahead of my time. Enjoy your evening!

Wanda, prayers for Kaeli's situation. A rewarding job is a real boost to the healthy lifestyle.

So, yesterday was not a very good day for me. I seemed to have lost my enthusiasm for my healthy lifestyle. I was able to stay within the parameters of my food plan, but there was no regular meal time and meals, Just a bunch of grazing and looking for something to satisfy my hunger. Let me blame that lost day on spending it on the phone. First with the phone company and second with the Social Security Administration. What a waste of time.
In the same category of boondoggle and red tape, DH slipped out of his conference today to try and register the "Grandma-mobile". He came home all red in the face (BP boiling!). The temporary insurance card had expired, so he was unable to accomplish the task yet again. He finally located the right insurance card and now he had everything in order but has to wait to sneak out of the conference again tomorrow morning. Poor man. I just tried to support him as best I could. DH is the type that is easily knocked off his center, Not much I can do to change that. I've just learned to support as best I can. There is a light at the end of this tunnel. It may be over by tomorrow.
And roofers are coming to work tomorrow. That means I have to mentally prepare for the pounding that will be prevalent. Early bed time tonight!

Well, my friends, I hope that your days are lovely and healthy and that everything goes according to the grand PLAN. Happy Tuesday.

~Nancy~

Good afternoon. We have lovely sunshine and 50 out, but we have a cold front that's coming through this afternoon and the temps will start going down, suppose to be 17 tonight, then the temps go back up towards the end of the week and may have rain Fri. & Sat.

Margaret and I had a nice walk inside this morning, then after lunch I rode the bike and got all my steps in, have two more glasses to get down and I'll have in my 64 oz. I did some reverse crunches yesterday and today I can tell, will start doing them every other day.

This afternoon will go over the tax stuff when I get off the computer so we'll be ready for tomorrow, ours are very simple to do, not a lot of paperwork to take with us.

Candi sorry to hear DH's lab's are even lower, I can understand your worry, it's so hard when we don't know what's going on. Is he on a cancelation list for the assistant appointment, so maybe he could get in sooner? Prayers that all will be well and they find out what's going on.

Kathryn hope the rain helps clear the air and your allergies get better.

Kathy, yes, Sunday is my prep day lots of drinking going on that day, I think I'll skip church this Sunday. I have to be there at 7 a.m., but that's ok I'd just as soon get it over with and be able to come home and sleep as I know I won't get much Sunday night. Good job on eliminating some pounds.

Wanda I love looking at baby things, they have so much more neat things then when my kids where babies. Hope your acupuncture goes well and does good things for your body. Good luck to Kaeli and her phone interview.

Trace that's a good idea about taking photos of the things you like.

Irene, Dot, Nancy, Donna, Mauri and anyone else that might happen by, have a glorious Tuesday!

Hugs,
Shirl

Well the numbers are even lower on Hubbies lab work then last time. Have been dropping steadily since 2/7 when he had his physical and those number where lower then last years. Has Dr., and us, worried as his numbers have always been consistent, on the low end of normal but consistent. Dr. says all we can do now is wait until his 4/6 appointment with the specialist assistant for an evaluation to see if he needs a scope down his throat. Glad our Dr. put in a rush order or no telling how long we would need to wait just to see the assistant. I think that what ever is going on with his blood is causing the aches in his joints also as it all seems to have started about the same time. Has us both worried that's for sure.

Hope you are all doing well, I haven't taken the time to read the post I missed but I will catch up. I did start back with the work outs and treadmill walks (spring has not sprung here in the north as yet) this morning. That's another thing I think is rude, working out with company here. Speaking of which its time for more steps. Have a good day.

Hello all sorry I have been MIA but have been under the weather with bad allergies, and no there is nothing I can take. I just have to suffer through them. Yesterday it started raining so the air is being cleaned and I feel a little better. Going in the rain to the VA for hubby's blocked ear. Also going to put in the paperwork for his disabled pension. He is 100% disabled now.

Good Morning Sparkies...

Candi - Good for you getting in them walks. I'm pushing myself to do a little more walking each day. Helps with my leg pain as well. I hope your hubby's labs come back good. Good news that he is feeling a little better. Sending prayers his way.

Shirl - They are pushing me for another Colonoscopy as well. ugh. Not looking forward to it. Well the day before stuff. Your story about the freezer reminded me of a camping trip. We had some wonderful steaks in the cooler and had left it out on the table over night. When we got up the steaks were all over the place as well as all the other things in the cooler. AND my marshmallows that I was really looking forward to roasting were gone! hehehe I was more upset about the marshmallows than the steaks. Darn little Raccoons. hehehe

Wanda - Good luck to Kaeli on her interview. I hope she gets the job if it's what she really wants. Hope that Spring gets to you sooner than later... It's been beautiful weather here and very little humidity which is what I love. I know you are wanting to get your gardens going.
How's that baby blanket? Did you find a easy pattern for a sweater and booties?
I made a little sweater for Rachael's littlest pup... It's cute.
Need to work on something today but not sure what yet.
Good luck to you with your Accupuncture today. Hope it continues to help.

Irene - Good for you getting that freezer cleaned out. I'm with you and always save leftovers and end up throwing them away... Thanks for the birthday wishes... I enjoyed it very much.

That goes to everyone... thank you all for the birthday wishes. I keep saying every year that this is the last one. Or that I'm going backward from here on. hehehe

Trace - Glad you are enjoying your vacation. I love the personal challenge of taking a picture of the things you enjoy. I do that with my flowers and such. I've learned to stop and enjoy the things I love instead of racing past them. lol

Nancy - I think it's amazing that we have been here together on this journey for so long. I've made some really good friends here. don't know what I'd do if I couldn't check in with you all.
Happy spring to you... won't be long until we will be splashing together in the pool again. hehehe I have no heat on mine anymore so it will take me longer. hehehe

Kathryn - Sorry to hear that you weren't feeling well. (saw it on FB) Hope that you feel better soon. Miss you when you are not here.

Donna - That goes for you as well. Hope that you are feeling better. Miss you.

I'm not doing much today. I'm kinda of tired out from all my activities with the kids. They left for the beach house yesterday and won't be back until next week. Their time here is coming to a close in a few weeks. I've enjoyed them so much. Hate to see them go home. They need to get back to reality and get their plan together on if they are selling their place up in Indiana or what. Would love them closer so we can visit more. It sure has been a wonderful 3 months.

oh almost forgot.. some positive news... I've dropped a few pounds along the way this past week. Amazing with eating out and the giant Cake mountain that hubby made for me. hehehe I've only tasted a few bites... hehehe Now hoping it stays off. YAY!

Sorry if I missed anyone. I'm playing catch up since I've been so busy. hehehe Have a great day everyone...

Good Morning all,

Spring just might make a wee appearance today with a bit of melting but that is just prior to more snow in the forecast *grin*. You just have to love Mother Nature's sense of haha.

Kaeli texted me last night to let me know that she is having a telephone interview on a job that she applied for. Seeing as the home base for the company is in Whistler, BC, they wanted to know if she would be good with a telephone chat. Let's see where this one goes. I'm just praying that if this is the best job for her that it works out and if not that the door gets closed. On the plus side she at least still has her job of the present, just really needs a change.

Irene...great "J" challenge today. I used to journal and just gradually stopped doing it. I need to get back at it again. Thank you for the nudge.

Candi...it is so worrisome when our hubby's are not well and we are not getting the answers we need. Thinking of the both of you and asking for results so that you can move forward. Hugs.

Trace...Yay on the sunshine and great weather to get out and about in. I'm looking so forward to being able to get out in my garden.

Shirl...At least it is only a different date for your colonscopy and not a cancellation. Have fun going and doing some baby gift shopping this coming weekend. Kaeli and I had fun looking at things last weekend when we were out and about. Her friend is due mid April.

Nancy...sometimes I think some of the people working in telephone customer support use computer malfunctions as an excuse to not have to deal with the issue. Hope you are able to get your issue dealt with in a timely manner.

Kathryn, Dot, Donna, Kathy, Mauri and anyone else that pops by today...wishing you all a great day.

I'm off to my second acupuncture session today and then the third one tomorrow after work. Let's see how it all goes.

Have a great day,
Hugs,
Wanda

Afternoon everyone, I will read up on my missed days so I know what I'm talking about, as if that will ever happen, at a later time. For now, company left after lunch yesterday then I cleaned the guest bath and bedroom and chased the vacuum around the living room. Hubby had more lab work this morning should hear in the morning. Hopefully his sodium has at least stabilized if not gone up some. He still has a cough from his bronchitis but his appetite has come back a bit. he just is not himself and hasn't been for over two months now. Has me worried that's for sure. Got in a short walk outside while he was at the Dr's as the temp was around 45 and it was calm. Tomorrow its back to the TM walks and the w/o's. I'll let you all go for now.

Fitness streak day... 2 (I took Saturday Off)
Night eating streak day 2 (see above)

Irene – Organizing is so very satisfying. Glad you were able to get it done and also enjoy it!

Wanda – Mother/daughter time sounds great. Sorry about the snow though!

Nancy – Did they ever call you back?

Shirl – A surprise delay for a colonoscopy is much better than “oops, guess that’s happening today!”

Vacation so far is being pretty glorious. I slept in a very little bit then started job2. When it was slow I went for a walk/run around the neighborhood. Another break later included a bike trip to the grocery store for Mom. Both felt fantastic, and I have more yoga planned for tonight which makes this a nice and active day despite both job2 and the writing being me sat on my rear at a computer.

I think I’ve also decided on a new and more personal challenge. I’m going to take a picture every day of something beautiful in my life. I get very busy, and very focused on the things I have to get done and the future and… and… and…

So it’s probably time to spend a bit of time enjoying the present in a very conscious, deliberate way.

Have a great evening everyone!

Hi everyone, no colonoscopy this Monday, it's next Monday, March 27. After breakfast dishes got done took DH to Great Clips for a haircut, then on to Walmart for a few groceries and I found two nice planter's for my new African Violets, I'll take a picture when I get them transferred. Came home and fixed lunch, told DH no eating out this week.

I think we've made it to 50, we had sun, but clouds are moving in suppose to rain. We had a thunderstorm roll through last night. Happy Spring!

I got one 30 min. bike ride in after lunch and will go up later and do another one, working on getting in all my water.

Wanda mother/daughter time is great. Debbie and I are going shopping this Sat. for one of my granddaughters baby shower, which is April 8. Deb's, DD and Deb's sister are going in on the gifts with us, we should be able to pick up some nice things for Kayleigh's baby boy, Mason Charles, who is due July 3.

Nancy I am sure you'll do a good job of feeding and taking care of your dinner guests.

Irene when we lived in the country in our last home before moving into an apartment we had an upright freezer on our back porch, will I got up one morning and was going to get something out of the freezer and found we had overnight visitors, a bunch of raccoons had managed to open the door and there were various packages of food all over the back porch, you could see where they'd tried to get in the packages, but of course they were all frozen. I told my DH that the least they could of done was clean up their mess, oh no, that got left for me, lol. ungrateful critters.

Trace sounds like you will have a nice time off, enjoy all the things you want to do.

Kathy, Kathryn, Dot, Donna, Mauri, hope I didn't miss anyone, and anyone else that pops in, have a happy Monday on this first day of spring!

Hugs,
Shirl

Good Morning. or afternoon or evening, depending on your time zone. I guess I should just switch to Good Day!

I spent a bunch of time on the phone this morning with our wireless company. The agent's computer froze and he said that he would get back to me in about 15 minutes. That was about 2 hours ago! Always a pleasure! Oh well, we shall see if they ever get back to me, or if I'll have to start that process all over again.

Wanda, thanks for the Spring cleaning challenge. Time to start weeding out the joint. And I need to commit to a 2 week list and stick to it!

I'm guessing that Shirl is in the process of her big test today. Good Luck Shirl! Hope all goes well.

Roofers were supposed to start working today. No show.

Well, I'll get busy on y Spring Cleaning challenge. Gonna go open a window. Have a great day everyone.

Good Morning all,

Happy First Day of Spring! Unfortunately here that doesn't look like what is happening...we had more snow overnight. Weather forecast says it is supposed to start melting though later this week so I'm hopeful.

Irene...way to go on getting those deep freezers organized. That is one of our spring chores as our freezers are very old and need to be defrosted manually. We usually do it in the spring as they both sit out in the garage and Garry just hauls them out to the sunlight and lets them thaw and drain in the sun. We are thinking of downsizing to just one freezer...tried to do that last year, but ended up with some extra goodies given to us and needed both.
Love spring and the burst of organizing and cleaning that usually accompanies it around our house. Have a great day.

Trace...sounds like you have a great vacation planned. Keep up the great efforts on running. Yay on the new laptop...it always takes a bit to get it set up just so, but it's fun to have things working fast and properly once again.

Nancy...I'm sure you will do a wonderful job at providing a great nourishing meal for your company and being a lovely hostess. We don't do much in the way of entertaining outside the kids in the winter months, but summer means lots more. The BBQ becomes the main source of cooking and being able to have room for company on the back deck makes a big difference. Have fun!

Shirl...hope all goes well with your appointment. I have only had a colonoscopy once and hope I never have to have one again. Not that it's in anyway painful...just the meds and I do not agree.

Kathryn...how are things with you?

Kathy...sounds like your birthday was filled with great moments. So nice that you were treated like a queen.

Kaeli called yesterday and wanted to have some Mother/Daughter time. We went out to lunch and I had a lovely salad. We then took a walk around Homesense and then off to Superstore before coming back to the house and having a visit.
Garry and I finally did what was required for the DNA tests and Kaeli took the packages off with her to drop in the mail. Now we wait for a couple of months for the results. I'm looking forward to seeing what comes out of the tests.

Have a great day all,
Hugs,
Wanda

Belated birthday wishes to Kathy .
I put organising as my word of the day, I usually have a monthly delivery of groceries including meat and fish. But I have two freezers, both needed a good sort out. I made a start after my breakfast by clearing the fridge first m checking what was in there and what needed throwing out.
Then freezers turn. I disciovered long lost items. Again I threw out frozen left overs, why did I ever think I would use them. I didn't even know what they were originally
I put things in boxes in order , I found I have enough proteins for a months meals so cancelled this months delivery . I can buy fresh foods locally as needed ,
Quite satisfying ,I must try organising again. Irene

Happy Sunday everyone!

I've been enjoying my vacation so far though I've spent a lot of it working! Bought a new laptop Friday which is wonderfully fast and fun to use. I'm still setting things up the way I like them but already job2 is easier.

Yesterday morning I went for a walk/run and adjusted the times for more running. I started at 30 seconds running and 1 minute walking. Now I'm at 40 seconds and 50 seconds. Haven't upped the distance yet. I'm being quite careful with my tension prone legs.

Food has been a bit iffy but not terrible.

Now it's time to dive into the things I've been promising myself I'd do this break. A nice long bike ride in the sun, a beach afternoon, lots of writing, lots of naps, movie time.... weird how hard it is to fit those things in!

Have a great Sunday everyone.

Good Morning and almost afternoon to all.

Irene, I love a good craft "stroll" myself. I don't even need to buy anything. I just like to look and touch and imagine at the craft stores.

Shirl, good luck with that colonoscopy tomorrow. Guess we can guess how your day is going today! Not exactly a Serene Sunday! Thanks for the nice quote today.

Wanda, prayers for relief for your dear hubby. And I look forward to your ancestry DNA report. That should be an interesting endeavor!

Kathy! I am so sorry that I missed your birthday! Belated Happy Birthday! I do remember years ago remarking that your Pisces sign and my Scorpio sign make for good friendships. Gosh that was a while ago and here we still are. Go figure! Enjoy the rest of your "birthday weekend", or if your like me, drag that birthday out all week and milk it for all it's worth!

My DH starts a week of conference/training here in Houston, but he'll be staying at the venue all week. He is bringing various conference "dignitaries" over for dinner tonight and Thursday night, so I have to put on my hostess persona. I'm not that thrilled to be entertaining right now, but it's the least I can do for my hardworking husband.

A partly cloudy day here. Hope to get out and take a nice walk before too long here.

Have a very pleasant day, everyone!

~Nancy~

Good Sunday morning. Right now it's kind of gray out, but the sun is suppose to shine on us today and be in the middle 40's.They are saying 50's for tomorrow for our 1st day of Spring. Been seeing lots of fat Robin's lately, haven't seen any Red Winged Black Birds yet. Serenity Sunday is posted.

Yesterday finally got one pair of Herb's pants hemmed for him, so had him take them home and try them on before going forward with doing the others and he called and said they were just right, so now will work on the others. Also have the curtains to finish for Tana for the babies room.

Almost time to leave for church.

Wanda hope that nerve pain in Garry's hand starts getting better, not fun trying to do things one-handed. I am trying to cut back on my meat and have been doing good at only having it once a day, next week I am going to stay away from any red meat and try and eat more fish as a week from Monday is my colonoscopy, so looking forward to that, lol.

Irene I can spend hours in a craft store just wandering and looking at everything, sounds like you had a good time out with your DDIL.

Nancy you wrote a great blog yesterday.

Kathy hope you had a wonderful birthday!

Dot, Mauri, Trace, Donna, Kathryn, Candi and anyone else that happens by, have a blessed and serene Sunday!

Hugs,
Shirl

Good Morning Sparkies...

Yesterday was my birthday and I had a wonderful day... Started off with Hubby cooking sausage gravy with biscuits and scrambled eggs and bacon for breakfast... I had a small portion. Then me and the kids went to see Beauty and the Beast. It was wonderfully made in the usually Disney fashion.
then later we went to Carrabba's Italian Grill for dinner which was wonderful. I only ate half of my shrimp Alfredo and a bite of the dessert they gave me (with candle and all) And they sang to me. hehehe fun fun day!

I thought for sure I'd gain some weight but did not gain anything. YAY! May have eliminated a half pound or so too. hehehe Happy about that for sure.

Sorry I didn't get to check in but it was a busy day. Hope everyone is doing good today.

Wanda & Shirl I got your birthday wishes yesterday. Thank you. Love FB for that. I had so many birthday wishes I'm still not sure I've seen then all. hehehe Makes you feel good. lol

Today we are off to the Flea market and will look for some t-shirts or something to send home to the grandkids. Can't believe that Rachael and Donny will be leaving in just 2 more weeks. Time flies. Have enjoy the 3 months they have been here so much.

Ok better get back to company. They are a rising now... Will check back when I can...

Happy Sunday to all!

Good Morning all,

I took some down time from the computer yesterday. Just enjoyed the day with hubby. Checked out a butcher shop that my co-workers have been raving about and did pick up a couple of items that caught Garry's eye.

Almost finished the baby blanket, just working on the finally edging now. Now I'm looking for a quick and easy little sweater and bootie pattern to go along with it.

Garry's left hand is still giving him issues with nerve pain. He is finding using his hand very painful so tends to live life at the moment very one handed. I'm hoping that improves as time heals thing.

Time for the both of us to do the Ancestry DNA kits and get them set off. Kaeli is rather anxious to find out the results from ours. Hers was very revealing. Ended up finding a couple of relatives that we didn't know existed... one of my dad's brothers had a relationship outside of his marriage! We are actually hoping to meet up with this new branch this summer when the weather is a bit nicer. They live here in Alberta in Medicine Hat.

We had some snow over night which will need to be shoveled today as well as some pretty good winds. Things seem to have calmed down a bit now, so hopefully it won't be too miserable out there shoveling.

Have a blessed and wonderful day all.

PS...Hope your birthday was awesome Kathy...I did send you greetings on FB as I noticed it was your birthday first thing yesterday morning when I checked in.

Hugs,
Wanda

Hello on .Sunday. Yesterday my ddil took me to a big craft store . I do go with my son sometimes but he, he like men asks what I need there, we get it and go. My ddil likes to look around as I do, of course after I found the soft filling for toy making which was what I needed more things just jumped off the shelves to me . But it was fun.
That's amazing we share part of an address NJ . Nottingham here is on the east side middle of England, its noted for lace making in the past and Robin Hood of course, Nottingham itself id a city, I live south of it in a small town called Cotgrave, it's not my home area but I find it very friendly and I like living here .
Have a good Sunday

Happy Saturday to all. Hope your weekend is off to a great start! DH has invited dinner guests from out of town over tomorrow and Thursday night, so I'm trying to figure out how to entertain them with good healthy foods. Shouldn't be too bad. I guess I'll blog today about my blood work and my hopes and dreams.

Irene, I was just looking closely at your signature and I saw that we have something in common (?) The name of the subdivision (neighborhood) that I live in is "Nottingham Country". And we're all so very British here in this part of Texas! (silly Saturday, sorry)

I've got all sorts of projects around the house today. My healthy plan is still holding up nicely. Thanks for the support. Have a wonderful weekend!

~Nancy~
