Good Afternoon Sparkies...

Happy Thursday to one all...

PaulaJean - Thanks so much for your nice comment on my crocheting... Hope your day is going well...

Thank you all for all your nice comments on the things I share. I keep sharing them because y'all make me feel so good. hehehe
I'm almost finished with the Sweater I'm making DD Rachael. I hope she likes it. Green is not my color but it's hers...

I really enjoy the smaller things like the animals. I am planning to start on an Baby Elephant "lovey" blanket next and then a Poncho. hehehe

Wanda - Funny you mentioned Poncho's. hehehe I have a request and all the yarn sent to me already for one and my other DD Amanda requested one as well. hehehe
Nice that your brother stopped in while he was in town. I'm sure he enjoys visiting you and Garry both while he's in town. Glad that Garry and Kaeli are feeling better. I am too but I'm thinking it's my chronic sinus that keep things lingering...

Shirl - Hope that Clenton is improving. Glad there is a place for him to get checked out in Battle Creek. Good luck with that. It's nice that you are feeling better. Oh and what a nice surprise for your sister to get more visitors.

Nancy - Oh no... MIL will have to adjust to not having you there. But you have been gone long enough. Time to go home and get your schedule back there. lol

Donna - Hope you have kicked that crud to the curb before Cove gets there for the weekend. I know you all will have a great time just hanging out and playing at home. You don't have to do big special things all the time right? Good luck to Jim on that next xray. Hope he gets to graduate to the next walking cast. I can so relate to that hip and back pain. No fun at all. There are still night I have to take a pain pill to help me sleep because of it.
Enjoy your lunch with the girls.

Kathryn - Nice quote today... Well I like most of them. hehehe But this one is so true. hehehe glad that Ron is about over that. Enjoy your walk to the library.

Irene - You are so right... We have to listen to our bodies. Mine Screams a lot at me. Especially if I've over done it on something. hehehe

Candi - Hope you got your fitbit synced I know nothing about them. Good luck.

Dot - How are things with you? Are you walking away the pounds with Leslie today?
I used to do that daily. I was addicted to them dvd's. lol

Mauri - Thanks for the nice challenge today. It's nice to start off the day thinking about what you are thankful for. ((hugs))

The oxygen people just delivered more portable tanks and a bigger tank in case the electric goes out. I think I'm all set up now.
Ok I'm Off to finish up Rachael's sweater...

Have a great day everyone...

Kathy

Positive quote-This year I will make progress not excuses.

Started up my push up streak again. Doing ten wall push ups every morning and soon working up to doing them on the floor again. I had put my strength training back on the back burned. Need to take it out to the front and burn some calories off.

The clear weather the weatherman said we were to have has not shown up, rainy dreary day. I am going take a walk even if it is raining. I am taking the bus up town but the stop is a ways from the library so will have a nice little walk. The stop on the way home is a little walk too. I am hoping to get in my at least 5 mile weekly walk.

We had the power go out last night and I cooked dinner by flashlight. We have a gas stove so I was able to warm up some beans/ham and feed hubby by flashlight.

Irene and Donna sorry you were feeling unwell but good to hear you are feeling better.

Wanda sorry Garry is feeling ill, hoping he get feels better soon.

Shril hope you and your hubby are feeling better

Nancy you are such a good caretaker wish you could come help me out.

The sun is shining and the rain has stopped for a bit looks so nice out now.

Good afternoon. We are heading up towards the 40's and have sun. DH has an appointment at 11 tomorrow morning at Battle Creek to get a pair of diabetic shoes and we may go early and stop in at the urgent care, he's still rattling in his chest, I think I am almost over this stuff, not coughing as much. I go to the foot doctor this afternoon, I am ready for another nail trimming.

I had two other ladies go with me yesterday to see Joyce, she was really happy to see the three of us and she is coming along good.

DD and her DH put an offer in on a house yesterday, and their place in OH was shown yesterday, I think she said they had 12 places to look at yesterday, Dirk's start date is Feb. 6, so they don't have a whole lot of time.

Wanda that was nice Garry's brother could visit and spend the night. Glad Garry and Kaeli are doing better. Is Garry's birthday this weekend?

Donna glad you are feeling better and that Jim is coming along, it'll be a lot better when he can be up on his feet more. Have fun with Cove this weekend.

Irene listening to your body is a good thing.

Candi I think it was you who is having trouble syncing your new fitbit hope you can figure it out.

Dot did you get your craft closet cleaned out and did you find lots of forgotten treasures.

Kathryn glad Ron is doing so much better and that you got out to get that blood work done.

Kathy you sure have talented fingers, that hat you made will go great with her shawl.

Nancy your MIL is really going to miss you, it's so nice you got to spend this time with her and you had the chance to spoil her.

Mauri hope you are getting some of this nicer weather we are having right now, I love seeing the sun today.

Paula Jean and anyone else that might stop by, have a great Thursday.

Hugs,
Shirl

Good morning! I feel better today. I actually had some energy this morning when I got up and I killed my workout! That always feels great. Hopefully the fever wonít come back this evening and I can continue the upswing.

Iím meeting Coveís mommy early tomorrow afternoon to bring him here! We canít wait to see him. It ended up being a good thing we canceled last weekend, after feeling so poorly, but now weíre ready!! We donít have anything really planned, just lots of playing. The weather should be cooperative so we can spend some time outside, too, thank goodness.

And I am actually having lunch out with the girls today. Itís been too long since Iíve done that. I just hate to not be at home, fixing lunch for Jim. Even though heís up and around much more, I know he appreciates not having to every time he wants to eat. Heís having trouble with his sleeping pattern. Seems like his schedule has gotten flipped. Heís so sore in his hip from not using that leg properly, and it bothers him a lot at night, which just makes it worse. Weíve been doing ice, heat, and massage, but it only helps so much. Iím anxious for him to be allowed to be on his feet so he can work that out.

Irene, youíre so right to listen to your body. We all need to do that. When we run out of energy, thatís when weíre supposed to recharge the batteries!

Wanda, how nice that Garryís brother got to visit! I know they both enjoyed that so much.
People in our town have been sick with both the respiratory stuff and the stomach viruses. I think Iíve gotten off easy. I did have my flu shot, so maybe that helped? Glad to hear your daughter and hubby are feeling better, too.
Iím glad ponchos may be coming back. Theyíre a great solution for people like me who seem to be cold all the time!

Nancy, I think itís a testament to the sort of care and company youíve been for your MIL that sheís concerned about you leaving! Sheís enjoyed you being there.
Sunshine definitely affects my mood, too. When I left work yesterday evening the sun was shining and it felt AMAZING.

I hope everyone else who stops by is having a good day. Enjoy your Friday eve!

Good Morning and Happy Thursday to all.

Things are going at a slow pace here. My MIL is already wondering what things will be like when I leave next Thursday. I have spoiled her, but a little spoiling once in a while is a good thing. It's a gray, dismal looking day out today. I don't have a lot of get up and go today. It's funny how the sunshine affects the mood.

Have a great day. Love to all.

Good Morning all,

A night filled with crazy dreams and desire to stay in bed this morning...ahh but work calls my name. I just might be dragging a bit today, but as long as I am busy I should be ok.

My BIL was working in town yesterday so came for supper and spent the night. It's always nice to have him drop in. He and Garry are very close.

Irene...it's good that you listen to your body and give it what it needs. Too often we ignore the signs and signals that it sends to us and as result we end up having issues. Hope today is a great day for you.

Donna...this cold and flu sure seems to be making its rounds. We have staff down with it at work and I'm hoping to stave it off. Kaeli is finally beginning to recover from it and Garry is well on his way to feeling better too. I hope that it passes quickly for you and that you are able to give yourself the care that you need to. It's good to hear that Jim is doing so well. Yay on him getting his boot soon if the healing continues. Hugs.

Candi...I had trouble getting my new replacement fitbit hooked up to the computer also. Finally managed but can't honestly say what I did other than just trial and error! It used to be so simple but the program must have changed. I hope you are able to get the help you need to get it working in sync with your computer.

Kathy...love your crochet projects...you are one busy lady. My BIL (Brian) was telling us last night that his wife has been busy making crocheted ponchos also and selling them. Ponchos must have made a come-back. She had made one for someone and then started getting people asking her if she would make for them. Great little side business she has going *grin*.

Shirl...hope you and Clenton are doing better.

I need to get myself organized for work so will say "have a great day everyone".

Hugs,
Wanda

Whew, long day. I think my fever came back up a little this evening but I'm doing okay. I made it almost all day at work. I'm just about to turn in for the night for a nice, long sleep.

Positive quote-Fitness is 20% exercise and 80% nutrition. you can't out run your fork.

Hubby is over his bout with C-Diff but is still taking antibiotics. I am feeling okay, got out yesterday to do my fasting blood work in the afternoon. Had some good me time. We have a caretaker coming tomorrow and I am having more me time. It was raining today but will be clear tomorrow. I think I will go up to the library and check out a new diet book or two LOL. Really am doing good with my Every Other Day Diet and don't need to change that, just need to do it.

Hello all! Gee, where to start. We visited with friends Saturday evening for dinner. It was good for Jim to get out of the house. He's used to doing whatever the heck he wants WHEN he wants. so this is making him stir crazy! Sunday I finally succumbed to whatever it is I've been trying to fight off for a week or so, and I started running fever. I stayed home from work on Monday.

Yesterday I took Jim to Lubbock to get his stitches out and the new cast put on. Doc was happy with the way the incisions look. We go back on Feb 1st so he can take X-rays, and hopefully they'll put him in a walking cast! That will be a game-changer.

I'm back at work today, but taking fever reducers. My boss is hardly in the office, so I don't worry about spreading my illness. I just stay in my little corner. I just hate to burn all the days of leave when I know we have more trips to Lubbock coming up. I'd much rather be in bed or on the sofa, though. Such is life!

Wanda, my boss has been making initial contact via phone with potential clients. So far, it's just that, but we have our fingers crossed. Many of these people don't know there's anyone out there offering the services we do, much less know about US. So even planting the seeds today may bear fruit down the road. We'll see.

Kathryn, I love your bracelet!

Candi, sorry you're having trouble syncing your Fitbit. Make sure it's syncing to your dongle in the computer (or via smartphone app if that's how you're doing it), or your computer won't communicate the totals to SP.

Hello to everyone else! I'm out for the day. I can't really concentrate. Y'all stay well and have a great day!

Lord you ladies are talented, I am lucky if a button I sew on stays put.

Am still having problems with my new fitbit tracker, data shows on gadget but hasn't down loaded since yesterday when I synced to SP, so this morning I disconnected it from here to see if that works, if not I have the support number for fitbit and I'll call them and let them figure it out. Everything seems to be working on my end but not the computer. I hate change.

Good morning. It's a damp one here, not raining just damp. We are still coughing and not feeling the greatest, it's a week today for me and Sat. will be two weeks for DH. They had canceled the nurse call so didn't get to talk with her.

I am taking Joyce her mail and some magazines this afternoon, Thurs. and Fri. are busy with appointments.

Wanda glad there are things in place for MIL.

Kathy thanks for sharing the pictures of what your busy fingers make.

Kathryn hope a care giver showed up so you could get to your appointment.

Dot housework is good exercise, I just wish I felt like doing some,

Irene, Nancy, PaulaJean, Mauri, Candi, Donna, hope I didn't miss anyone and any newbies have a good Wed.

Good Morning Sparkies...

Today I'm back on track. Kinda fell off the wagon with so much going on with me. hehehe
But today I did 15 min on the bike already. Need to remember to do it 1st thing after my first cup of coffee. hehehe then I have a good feeling of accomplishment.

I accomplished a couple new crochet projects. My friend Donna wanted an Elsa crown/braid for her GGD. And my friend Laurie saw a hat she needed. It goes with her Shawl I made her. So finished them up. Today I'm back on Rachael's Sweater. Want to get it finished up because I have so many other things I need to crochet. My list just keeps growing. hehehe
Bohemian hat...

Elsa Crown with braid

Dot - Way to go using your house work as exercise. I do that too when I can. Hope you didn't tire yourself out to much.

Shirl - How you feeling today? Hope that cold is not getting the better of you. ((hugs))
I think I'm feeling a little better today. There is a light at the end of this tunnel. hehehe

Wanda - It's great that MIL and you and Garry have all your affairs in order. We have a friend that said she'd help us with ours. We know the basics but need to get it all down better. I love that you are donating to science. I am an organ donor. But I also want to be cremated and buried. Just to have a final resting place. Hope your day goes well.

Kathryn - How's things with Ron? Is her feeling any better. Hope that Virus is getting better. Hang in there...

Donna - won't be long until you have Cove with you this coming weekend. Hope that is still on. Hope all is well with you and Jim.

Nancy - Hope all is going well with getting them cabinets cleaned out. You can come do mine next if you want. hehehe

Ok need to run. Have a great day everyone...

Good Morning everyone,

It's Hump Day for those of us still in the work force. Half way through this work week.

Dot...I love your energy and positive attitude. Thank you for sharing it with the rest of us. Have a wonderful day today.

Kathy...Yippee on the foot finally being healed. That was a very long stretch for you. Ouch on the root canal situation. Hope that gets resolved quickly and without issues.

Candi...I agree with you on the importance of having wills etc all in place. Thankfully MIL has all that done and two of Garry's siblings are the executors. We have ours done also and our eldest is the main executor but all the kids will work together to make any necessary decisions. Garry and I both have chosen to have our bodies donated to science and that is all in place. Should for what ever reason that not be possible, then our organs will donated. My parents both chose this option and we are very comfortable with it. Once our spirits have left our bodies, it's just a body and might as well be useful.

Kathryn...hope the home care situation has worked out for you. We have finally been able to make arrangements for home care to come in twice a day (at this point) for MIL. She is not happy that we have over-ridden her wishes, but it is what it is. The home care will come in while she is on her own (so between all the kids coming and going). Hope that Ron is recovering from the virus that he has had.

Shirl...how are you guys doing?

Nancy, Irene, Donna, Mauri, and anyone else that pops in today...have a great day.

Hugs,
Wanda

Realized that I have not posted today so this will just be a quick note to let you know I was thinking about all you positive people. Did read all the posts and my heart goes out to everyone of you that have so many things going on.

Have to get going I left the vacuum in the middle of the living room and should at least finish vacuuming and put it away. Have to decide what I want for dinner...really am determined to loose some of this poundage. Did cleaning for exercise today, pushed myself and took teeny little breaks.

Tired but happy and not feeling to bad,
Hugs and Blessing to all,

Afternoon Sparkies...

My appt yesterday went well with the Foot Doc. After 6 long months she said it is healed! Yay!
I still have to wear my brace that they made for me which I will wear for a while. They schedule me for another xray in 2 months but I will probably cancel that one. No point in it if I'm not having any problems by then.

Today I had to go to Kissimmee for a Root Canal. All kinds of problems with that. He found a cavity under the crown so had to eliminate my crown then he couldn't get to the canal because it was Calcified. the plus to this is... they made me a temporary crown and are sending me to the specialist to finish the root canal... There is another down side but I choose not to go there yet... But please pray that the specialist does a good job. hehehe

I've read what everyone has posted...

Wanda - Great news that they found someone to check on your MIL. Hope that works out for all. Prayers that they can all come to an agreement with what is next. Not an easy subject.

Candi - I like that you have given the kids wills and all so that everyone knows what will be. We have wills made up but need to re-do them and then get them recorded and all. Then maybe we will give the exc of the will hubby's DD a copy. I love that Idea. The other kids are such a mess no point in giving them a copy. hehehe

Kathryn - Good luck with them people that come to the house. Hope they get things sorted out. Hang in there. You are entitled to some free time. And need it! Oh and Yes I did see the tail fin on the bracelet. I love it. I think I commented about it to... Then you can go splashing anytime... hehehe

Shirl - Thanks for the comment on the hat. I made another one for the girl I made the vest for too. Dropped it off to her today. hehehe I'm glad that you canceled that appointment for Clenton as well. Hope you both get to feeling better...

Nancy - You are such a good DIL... She will miss you for sure when you go home. hehehe
I've been trying to get DH to let go of some of his skillets too. hehehe But he says there is nothing wrong with them... Oh well then we have 6 or 7 of them. hehehe

Ok my mouth is aching from all that drilling and all today. So need to take a break...

Have a great day everyone...

Positive quote-Be somebody nobody thought you could be.

Need to get fasting blood work done today, waiting now for a caretaker. She or he are to come at 9:30. I usually don't eat breakfast until 10 but have at least one cup of coffee with almond milk. Missing that coffee this morning makes me very hungry and grouchy, hoping the caretaker comes early. Last night the agency called at 8:45 in the evening and said the guy they had planned for today and Thursday could not come. At 7 this morning they said they had no one yet. I pray someone comes this morning.

Good morning. The rain has stopped but the fog is rolling in. Quite a few schools are closed today, mostly due to those icy gravel roads the buses have to travel. Well we have another eye appointment for next Wed., really hope we can make that one. I have an appointment Thursday to get my toe nails cut and DH has an appointment at Battle Creek VA on Friday morning to get a pair of diabetic shoes, then at 3 we are meeting with Tammy for our recertification. A lot of canceling and rescheduling going on lately.

Wanda glad MIL was ok with help coming in. That's probably a good idea to go ahead and schedule that knee appointment as things don't seem to move along to quickly. My left knee has been giving me problems, it does better when I can ride the bike but haven't been doing that lately, I think a lot of my cushion is gone, may have to get the shots as they'd help for awhile.

Wishing all a great Tuesday!

Good Morning everyone,

Supposed to see some sunshine today and I'm great with that, we might also see some freezing rain by tomorrow, not so good with that *grin*.

Shirl...good idea to re-schedule Clenton's appt. especially when it requires him being perfectly still during the injection. Sure as heck, the moment you have to be still is when he would have to cough. I got my appointment for consult with the knee surgeon finally. It's in February. I'm very apprehensive about getting my other knee done because of the medications but I know that it is going to take some time to actually have the surgery so might as well start the process now. My knee is only going to continue to get worse *sigh*.

Wishing your DD much success with selling their home quickly and finding a new home in Florida. Stressful times but exciting times as well I'm sure. When do they have to be in FL?

Hope you and Clenton are continuing to improve from the colds. Hugs.

Kathy...We got a flyer in the paper on the weekend and there is a huge sale on yarn, made me think of you and then I got thinking about all the projects I would like to do *grin*. There just might be a yarn shopping excursion in the very near future for me.

Dot...I'm pretty sure there are hundreds of partially finished emails, posts etc floating around in cyber space lost from me also! I hit a wrong key and Poof, they are gone! Technology is amazing, but I can still screw it up LOL.

Irene...I find weekends are my struggle also. I just try and do more in the way of walking around my house and up and down the stairs (we live in a 4 level house, so lots of stairs). I find that I just have to be more creative and flexible on weekends...often I'm not a success, but I'm working on it.

Candi...How are you doing?

Nancy...cleaning out the kitchen cupboards is on my "to do" list. I need to get my girls over to see if there are any pots, bowls etc that they would like to have as down sizing is something I need to tackle. I find I have cupboards filled with things and rarely use them anymore as I use the same items over and over. Too much stuff. So good that you can help your MIL in tackling this chore.

Donna...How did your meetings go with potential new clients?

Kathryn...it is good that you can get out to have some time to decompress. Garry's sister called him yesterday to say that she has been able to arrange for homecare to come in the AM and PM to check on their mother. Not sure when that starts but she did say that when she told her mom even though she has been adamant she didn't want them to come in, she was good with it. Might have been something to do with the fact that her good friend had to spend the night at her place because she wasn't doing too well. God bless Nada and the amazing friend she is to Garry's Mom. The siblings will be at their mom's this weekend so hopefully some decisions and arrangements are made.

It's time for me to head out the door for work. Have a great day everyone and if I missed mentioning you in this post, hope you have a great day too.

Hugs,
Wanda

Good afternoon. It's been a drizzly day here, we did have freezing rain for a bit, but temps have gone up and it's all just rain now, temps are suppose to be up in the 40's the rest of this week.

Clenton and I talked about whether to keep his Wed. appointment in Ann Arbor or not and the decision was to cancel until he isn't coughing anymore, he is sounding a lot better but still has coughing spells and when he gets those injections he has to stay perfectly still. Just talked with DD and let her know we're canceling as she drives us down.

Youngest DD and DH are on their way up from OH, they'll be staying with other DD tonight and going to Detroit in the morning to catch a plane to FL to look for a new home. The real estate people came to their place in OH this morning and took pictures so their house can get listed. They brought their two little doggies up for DS to watch, Deb's got two doggies to but they all get along real well together.

I send out well wishes to all who are not feeling well and hope we all get to feeling better.

Kathryn like that quote for today, it's a good one. Not all care takers are meant for that job, but the ones that really enjoy doing that kind of work are a blessing, I hope the ones that come your way are good ones. You need that away time for you.

Kathy I forgot to mention the hat you made, that was nice. I can't believe how many people are sick with this crud, you're right it likes to hang on. Clenton isn't as congested but is still coughing, me I can finally breathe through my nose, but still coughing.

Dot I have had that happen, it's like where in the heck did my post go, is there a special place lost post go, lol. Glad you like your new do.

Irene hope you come up with a good routine for your weekends, your the boss.

Candi, no we don't like to hear the c word, that's one word we'd like to see gone and maybe someday it will be. Our son had a cancerous growth on the outside of his kidney and it was found by accident, he had to have an x-ray for something else and that's when they discovered the growth, they removed it and he didn't have to have any other treatments as they caught it in it's early stage and it was slow growing, we were so thankful.

Wanda you are such a resourceful person, I'd never thought about canning water. Hope the weather and roads are good for traveling to Garry's mom. Will be praying for the best solutions for the problems that need to be faced. I really like Kaeli's new haircut, it really looks good on her.

Nancy when we went to apartment living I went through stuff and tried to figure out what pots and pans I really needed to keep and which ones I could do without, you just don't have a lot of space in an apartment, and we seem to hang on to too much stuff as I don't make big meals like I use to, so I gave a lot of it away to those who could use it.

Donna, Mauri and anyone else that might stop by, hope you are having a good Monday!

Hugs,
Shirl

Candi my middle son was also given his sons by his ex wife. One went back by his choice as a pre-teen and is a mess. The one my son raised is a gem, such a good young man. My son is a stay at home dad and is raising his other two children by his current wife too. One child is autistic, so needs extra help, good to have his father there for him.

Nancy I use to be like your MIL and had pots and pans stuffed in the cabinets that a friend helped me pare down to just what I needed. I am glad it was done and the friends who got the extra pots, pans, and frying pans were happy to get them.

Wanda I think your canning water is a really good idea. You have water for when you might need it and a good use for the empty cans.

Kathy did you see your tail fins on the bracelet? The chili pepper is for my friend in Cost Rica.

Shril hoping you and your hubby are feeling better today

Dot I have had that problem of writing a long post and than losing it, don't really understand what happens to it

Positive quote for today-Eating better got easier when "I can't have that" turned into "I don't want that"

Yesterday started out rough for hubby and I when we had problems with the caretaker from the VA and the caretaker we where to interview from the state did not even show up. The VA sends out fair care takers most of the time and I really think it is a blessing when they come, so I am just going to let it slide when we get a bad one. They take god care of hubby and do not mistreat him it is just that some don't do the "light housekeeping" very well. I can do that myself alright I just need to get out of the house now and than. So will go easy on the girls., and not complain. I keep singing in my head "look on the sunny side of life...."

Afternoon everyone, Been a busy morning, work out, treadmill walks and vacum/dusting the house. Now its reading and more "mile" in over the coarse of the day.

Irene, my hubby does the cooking every other day or so and doesn't think healthy when he cooks. He's Russian and cooks what he grew up eating, I measure out small portions for myself and eat on small plates not the 12 inch ones that came with the last set we bought. When we go out to eat I ask for a take out box when I order and put half in the box before I even start to eat. Ask him to walk with you on the week ends, even around the block or to the restaurant if its close by. let him know that you need his help to stay on track on the week ends.

Kathy, good luck at the foot Dr. and take care of that cold, glad your feeling a bit better.

Wanda, My prayers are with your family now. Does your MIL have her wishes written out? Our kids know what we want once there is no quality of life and have copies of the trust, we don't have a lot except for this ten acres and a few pieces of good jewelry hubby has gotten me over the years. They have copies of our wills also, our oldest is the exec, he was voted in by the other two. emoticon We are expecting ice by this evening, guess the storm that's been hitting mid America has changed coarse and is on its way here. But expecting temps in the mid 40's by end of week, January thaw I guess. Bananas don't stay around here long enough to become banana bread but when it does we love it.

Nancy, Cleaning out cabinets is something I do about every 3 months or so, hubby can't seem to put anything back where he finds it but he tries. I can safely say I have never had to pick up after him he is the neatest man I have ever seen and always has been. Think it may be because his Mom couldn't do for him so he needed to learn to do for himself and we raised our boys the same way. They can both cook, wash, clean and care for a child no matter how young. Our youngest son has had full custody of his son since the child was 12 months old and "Mom" gave him up with out a backward glance. He is now almost 16 and a better young man you would be hard pressed to find.

Best get in a few steps and then get to my book.

emoticon Candi

Happy Monday everyone.
I had a very relaxing weekend and the start of a new week brings with it a little boost and eagerness to get something accomplished. I left the dishes last night, so my first job this morning was kitchen cleanup! I am going to empty and clean a cupboard a day this week for my MIL. Her pots and pans and dishes have just been shoved in and out for a couple of years now, so I'll have her look the contents over and see if she can't lighten the load a bit. I asked her, "Why do you have 15 fry pans? That's more than I have, and I cook!" She agrees, but cannot deal with these things herself, so I can help her out here. I won't be getting rid of stuff on her, just moving the unused items to the back of the cupboard for storage. It will give us something constructive to do, other than my knitting which is coming along nicely.

So, here's wishing you all a terrific start to the new week. Even though Sunday is the first day of the week, I don't start my "work week" until Monday morning and I always look forward to getting after something.

Prayers and good wishes to all!

~Nancy~

Good Morning all,

A new day, a new week and another opportunity to continue my journey to being the healthiest I can be.

We are having above normal temperatures that are supposed to continue all week and then back down into the more normal range for this time of year. I'm praying for good driving conditions on the weekend as Garry and two of his siblings will be heading to Saskatchewan to meet up with his other siblings at their moms. Some decisions have to be made and more than likely override MIL's wishes (not an easy thing to do). Prayers please for the good solutions.

I got 11 quarts of water canned yesterday. I know that sounds weird canning water. But it also makes a lot of sense. Instead of putting an empty canning jar back down in the cold cellar I am filling them with sterilzed water and sealing them. Covers a couple of issues. This way they don't gather any dust and dirt while waiting to be re-used next fall (or when ever I need them), also if we find ourselves without water for whatever reason, I've got lots of water and don't need to worry. I can re-use the sealing lids; if they don't seal properly I won't have lost anything. When I need to use the jar, I just use the water for any purpose needed. I have to store the jars anyways so might as well be useful while they are stored *grin*.
Now I need to haul all the rest of the jars up that are empty and get them done.

Once I get home from work today, it's making banana bread time! I have a half dozen bananas that need to be used up and figured with Garry heading out this weekend, I might as well make up a few loaves and send a couple with him.

Kathryn...your intention bracelet is very nice...way to go on being so creative.

Shirl...I'm sorry that both you and Clenton are experiencing this cold that is going around. So far I've managed to stave off the worst of one, just a bit of a runny nose. Hope yours departs real soon. Hugs.

I too have read the posts and I'm sorry I haven't commented on each one this morning. Will try and get back later to see what you have all been up to today. Monday's challenge is posted.

Time for work.

Hugs,
Wanda

Good Morning Sparkies...

Happy Monday to one and all.

Shirl hope you get to feeling better. I've had my cold for more than 2 weeks now. No fun but I am feeling better, just still blowing a lot...

Kathryn - Nice bracelet. I saw a red pepper... Wonder who that was for? hehehe
Prayers that you find a regular person to come in to help out.

Irene - I agree. the weekend throw me off my schedule as well. But Back to it today... emoticon

Wanda - Christmas Party this late? Glad you had a nice time and good meal. Happy Birthday to Kaeli.

I have a foot doctor appt today and hoping it is my final visit. My foot is feeling better and I don't think I need to keep going. But I do need to pick up the brace that they special made that cost me $200. Even if I can't wear it. Sheesh that is the one thing I don't care for about this Doc. She pushes all these things on you before you before you know it. UGH... Positive, positive...I need a positive... Oh... Positively the last visit with her. hehehe

Dot - I am due to get a hair cut soon too. My hair has always been long and straight, well except for the 80's when perms and big hair was in. hehehe But recently I cut it to shoulder length and just love it. they put some layers in it and it's so much easier to take care of.
Wish I'd done it sooner.

Love seeing so many posting...

Have a great day! emoticon

Sorry having computer problems. Wrote a long message and all of sudden lost it completely. When this happens I can usually get it back but not today.

So I am just stopping in to wish everyone well. Shirl sorry you have the bad cough and cold. Do hope it is not the flu. I have been staying home from church and most of the stores recently trying to stay well. The grocery store does provide the treated towelettes which was a great thing to do. I alway's wipe down the cart, have not had a cold in years. I do get the flu shot every year. Feel better Shirl!!

Did get my hair cut yesterday like the way she cut it gave me a wave on the right side. Was not feeling well and when I returned home call the Urgent care which they have after hours and all day Saturday at the clinic I use. Saw the Doctor and I have a UTI which I thought could be what was wrong. Not the first one I have had. Anyway started taking the antibiotic and right now could take Donna's nap...but I wont sleep tonight it I do.

Lovely hat and bracelet I am impressed with the talent. I did read all the messages. My best to everyone.
Hugs and Blessings,
Dot

Positive quote-Turn your can'ts in to cans and your dreams in to plans.

Hello all hope your day is going good. We have a caretaker doing laundry this morning. If she comes back in time I am taking a little walk over to Starbucks.

New week, am going back to tracking what I eat, weighing and measuring as I go. Am planning my meals early in the morning and sticking to my plans. I need to stick to my plans in stead of just grabbing what sounds good and hoping to be staying in my calorie count for the day.

We have an interview for a regular caretaker this afternoon, I hope she works out. It has been hard for me to get anyone from the list we have been sent out. Most of the people have someone else they are already taking care of. Prayers needed.

Good Morning everyone,

Our temperatures have warmed up to the point that we now have melting occurring. Sure is crazy weather. I'm not complaining about nicer temperatures though, just having to be extra careful on the roads in the evenings.

We went to my Staff Christmas party last night. They held it at the Royal Buffet which was nice as there was something for everyone. We had a great turn out and a very enjoyable time. Only stayed a couple of hours before heading home though as both of us were tired.
Our dinner was paid for and that was very nice.

We are off to Costco this morning for some stock-up supplies. In need of some staples and dry goods. Also need some fresh fruit and veggies.

I spent some time yesterday down in my cold storage room tidying up and organizing. Decided that I am going to haul all my empty glass jars back up stairs and can water. Yep...it seems silly to have those jars sitting empty once I've used the contents, I might as well have sterilzed water canned in them until they are ready to use again this fall for produce. This way I don't have to be concerned if we have any water issues. I will have water on hand to drink and clean-up. No cost to me as I already have the sealers. When I need the jars for canning this fall, I will have water that can be used to fill pots, water plants etc. my jars will already be clean inside and I just have to heat them up to do regular canning. No more buying bottled water! I can also re-use the sealing rings, because if they don't seal properly, nothing gets spoiled as it's only water. Gotta love Pintrest and the great ideas that people share.

Thank you all for the prayers for MIL and us. They are greatly appreciated. We will make it through all this, it just presents a few more challenges with having distance being a factor. MIL is a strong and stubborn lady, but we love her dearly.

This year is also our Uranium City reunion and it's taking place in Saskatchewan. We had planned on going to re-connect with old friends, but will play it by ear and see how things go. It's amazing that the town still gathers so many together even 35 years after the town closed down. There is such a tight bond between all those that lived there at one time or another. Love the relationship.

Our Kaeli's birthday next Saturday and I think the plan (at least so far) is gathering together for dinner. Then on the 28th is Garry's birthday. Quin and family and hoping to come for a visit then, but will all depend on whether or not Garry is here or in SK at MIL.

Hope everyone has a blessed and wonderful day today. Keep on finding those positives, they are there even in trying time.

Hugs,
Wanda

Good Morning Sparkies...

Wanda - Sorry to hear about your MIL. I'm glad that she has someone there with her until Garry can get there. It's got to be hard for her to remember to take that medication. She really does need someone there to help her with it. them pain meds will do a number on your mind if you aren't careful. Prayers that all of this will get figured out for her. A lot of the home care people are very nice and will be a great asset for her and for the family as well.
Good for you to continue to think about You and staying on track. emoticon ((hugs))

Kathryn - I'm glad that things are working out well there. Hope that you get that person in to help out with the meds and all. Good luck getting that nap too. lol

Shirl - How is things with you and Clenton today? Is he feeling better? I've had ti for more than two weeks now. So hope with the meds he's taking that it's kicking that Pneumonia to the curb. Keep yourself healthy...
We got a juicer for Christmas and I tried it out the other day. Walked out and got Tangerines off the tree (the only fruit tree that likes us this year) And brought them in and juiced them. It was nice. I may do that again today. I think a little extra juice would do us some good.

Nancy - Nice that you are knitting. I've never used that kind of hook before either. But I can't knit. I did make one hat once. But can whip them out with the crochet hook like nothing. hehehe I just got another request for one. hehehe I need more hours in the day. I've got to stop sharing all my things cuz it prompts peeps to ask for one. hehehe
One of my sons saw that Shawl/vest I made and wanted a new hat in them colors... Bohemian style... hehehe

He loved it ... but still has not been by to get it but will I'm sure. lol

Candi - I'm so sorry that there is so much Cancer in your family. Can't be easy on your family. My DH's brother died from Pancreatic cancer. Took him fast too. And my ex MIL had lung cancer, I think it was. Prayers that they will come up with a cure soon.
Hope you are staying warm up there in the frozen tundra...

Mauri - Loved your Serine Sunday post today. Spoke to me. I strive to have that inner peace always. Enjoy your day with Katie M'amica (my friend)... ((Abbracci)) (hugs)

Donna - Hope you are getting them naps in... You got us all thinking about them naps now. hehehe Andy just made breakfast... I can smell the bacon. ugh... hehehe wondering what my kitchen will look like when I wander in there in a bit. hehehe I may wear blinders when I head that way. emoticon emoticon Ommmmm hehehe Enjoy your weekend!

Dot, Irene and anyone ones else I missed ... Hope your Sunday is a great one.

Have and Awesome day everyone!

Wanda sorry to hear MIL is having problems with her meds. My hubby is being taken off his pain meds. He is being brave about it but is suffering some. I set up his meds weekly and it is a lot of work. If and when we get a regular caretaker one of her chores will be to set up his meds and help him take them. We have an interview set up for tomorrow, hope it works out.

Nancy have fun making your hat.

Kathy hope using the O2 on the bike works out for you.

Dot hope your day is going well

Donna I envy you being able to take naps during the day. When we get a regular caretaker I told hubby that is one thing I am going to do daily!!!!

Hubby feeling good today and so am I, just hanging around home today, having a fasting day and doing good. Have been working on new recipes for hubby. I love to cook and like making new things for him to eat. Making grilled fish with a beet and raw sauerkraut salad for his dinner.

Met my goal of walking 5 miles a week, not as much as before but still good.

Afternoon everyone, Wanda the experts say my siblings and I have about a 50% chance of coming down with some form of cancer. we have lost 3 of 13 of us and 2 of my DB's have one form of skin cancer of another, I have gone through breast cancer, my one DB (he has a form of skin cancer) and lung cancer. Both DB's spent time in Nan in the 70's so their problems come from agent orange. We also lost our youngest DS from esophageal cancer and our Dad died from liver cancer back in "66" leaving Mom with 7 kids at home. I do not wish this on anyone, good luck.

Good Morning,

Just a quick stop in today. We had a bit of a concern with MIL yesterday. Her friend Nada phoned Garry to let him know that she had taken his mom to the hospital the night before and they admitted her. Garry immediately called his BIL to let him know, but Jerry and Samara were already on the road to visit with her and said that they would check things out at the hospital and call if we all needed to go. Stressful night last night waiting for the call. Thankfully once her meds were once again adjusted they released her into Jerry's care and he said not to come just yet.
All morning we have been in tele-conference calls with the other siblings. Found out that MIL had also received a call from the cancer clinic in Saskatoon wanting her to come in. Fern called them to say if it was for just a visit, that she wouldn't be coming at this time. They assured it that it was more of an assessement and to get a handle on the pain meds and her emotional well-being. Fern and Garry's brother Lyle are going to take her now on Jan 26th. Because both parents have now had lung cancer, we think it's important that they get as much information as possible as this could be a concern for each of them in the future. We are going to have to override MIL's wish to NOT have homecare coming in as she has once again been fudging on taking her meds consistently.
Garry is planning on taking time next week and heading to SK to be with her until Fern and Lyle arrive on the 20th. They are staying for 10 days and then we will likely be going again as Brian won't be able to go until about mid Feb. We are waiting to see when brother Ken is planning his visit. If we can arrange for a home care person to come in daily or at the least 3 days a week, that will help us out a bit too.

Garry outside taking down all the Christmas decorations now, I'm getting all the household chores done and working on staying on track.

See you all tomorrow.
Hugs,
Wanda

I'll try this again. I wrote a reply and it disappeared into the vapors.

All I'm trying to say is Happy Saturday to all! Not much doing around here, so I'm doing a lot of knitting. I have never knit on circular needles before, so I'm trying my hand at it. Knitting a beanie hat. We shall see. Have a great weekend and stay warm and safe!

Good Morning Sparkies...

Happy Saturday to you all...

Shirl - You are so right that Clenton is more important that getting that exercise in. Happy that you got that 30 minutes in. That is a plus. Just do your best. That is all any of us can do. I'm trying to push myself a little to get on that Recumbent bike. forgot to have the o2 on yesterday and it was hard to do. So will try again today and use the oxygen. Hope they don't need Clenton to go back to VA soon. Hate that you have to travel them icy roads and all. Glad that your DD drives you. Or is it your GD that drives you... CRS! hehehe Stay warm today. ((hugs))

Candi - Glad you got your car in and that it was still under warranty. I have a light that comes on that the dealership says it's the thermostat... Well I've had others check it and they say it's just the sensor. So waiting to get it fixed. But watching closely so that It doesn't over heat. I'm not under warranty anymore. ugh I'd go trade it in but really liking not having a car payment again. hehehe Stay warm...

Nancy - it's nice that your MIL was worried about you while you were our finding all her treasures. You are a wonderful DIL to do that for her. And you probably needed a good outing. I was with you in spirit when you was checking out the yarn isle. hehehe
I was looking at the larger hooks P Q L... One of the projects I'm going to make calls for a "M" hook which I don't have. So need to order one I guess. I am not used to using them great big ones. So will be a learning experience for me. hehehe So what are you snuggled up working on this Saturday? Have fun!

Kathryn - Loved the positive quote as well Thank you for posting for us. Love that you are getting into them bracelets too. I can relate to not seeing as well anymore too. Love having my crochet patterns on my computer. Then I can make the print big enough to see. hehehe
Glad you were able to go to $5 sale too. It's good for you to get out when you can.

Wanda - I hope you have a nice weekend. I'm with you and would rather be home than anywhere else most of the time. Guess that is why I don't enjoy that 2 hour ride to the beach. hehehe Can't wait to hear all about your plans for the garden this year. I think I'm going to stick to Roses and Plumeria's. I do better at them. Andy said he was going to plant a lot of Ziennia's too. Love flowers in Spring. Almost as much as Splashing. hehehe

Donna - LOL @ your nap comment. Yep I'm getting to know you well. hehehe So did you decide what else you can do this weekend? Having friends over for dinner sounds like a nice project for Jim. Good thinking. lol Good plan not getting Cove this weekend if the weather is not good. I won't see Gracie and the boys again for a while. The returned home as mom and dad had to go back to work tomorrow. Hated that we were sick and couldn't see them again before they left. But thanks for Rachael I will get to see them virtually once they go home too. They are staying at the beach house for a couple months. It will be nice seeing them from time to time.

ok I need to head to the bike and see if I can get a few minutes in. I'm waiting a few minutes as I just followed my Vac Bot around to make sure he got the corners good. I just love this thing. No hurting my back trying to push the vac anymore.

Have a good day everyone...

Sorry if I missed anyone... I'll catch cha next time.

Good morning. We're in the low 20's again, but no rain or snow and we're going to be a lot warmer next week.

I had a nice visit with Joyce yesterday, she is looking and feeling so much better. I had a little problem finding the place as I only had part right directions, I ended up pulling over and calling her trying to get better directions, with luck I stopped at a small party store and asked directions and then had no problem getting there.

When I get done posting this will go to the store for some cold medicine for me. Hubby is starting to sound a little better. I was thinking about his Wed. appointment coming up this week at Ann Arbor, I told him if he's still coughing very much by Tues. I'll probably call and cancel again, it wouldn't be a good idea them trying to put those injections in his eyes and him having a coughing spell. We'll just have to see how he's doing on Tuesday. I really don't want to cancel again but may have to.

Candi I have a Fitbit Charger that my girls got for me a couple Christmas ago, I would sure miss it if it quit working. Glad you got the car problem taken care of and your vehicle is still under warranty.

Nancy that is nice you could find some of the things MIL had been talking about, I bet she was pleased.

Kathryn glad you could get out with your friend to the Friday sales. It sounds like you are really enjoying the bracelet making. Glad Ron's doing better with his problem.

Wanda, Kathy, Donna, Mauri, Dot and anyone else that pops in, find some laughter in your day, silly Sat. is posted.

Hugs,
Shirl

Yes Nancy I am TCLADY, decided on that name because the site wouldn't allow me to use my name in any way, guess at the time there were to many Candi what evers out there but I have never run across one on Sparkpeople.

Today I bought a Fitbit Zip, seems to do everything I need it to do, at least as far as I can figure out from what I've read. We will see when it gets here. We didn't receive any new snow over night thank the powers that be as we spent all afternoon at the dealership as we were getting notice on our cars computer readout and a note from ONSTAR to get an appointment sooner rather then later. They replaced the wheel hub, at least it was still under warranty.

I will catch to all the happening as soon as I can, in the mean time please everyone injoy your week end.

I really like today's positive quote-You got to do this for you, live for you, honor you, never lose sight of that.

I have a lot to do in taking care of my dear hubby but still take time to do for me. One of the most important things is getting on here and connecting with all you dear friends. Making the bracelet gives me a way to take you all with me every where I go. I have made it but will have to make it over again as I think of friends I forgot to get beads for. This morning I added a bead for hubby.
Hubby is doing better and with eating pears, apples and bananas, he has not made a yucky diaper in two nights. He has been on antibiotics since Tuesday and has to take them for 2 weeks. He is doing good with not taking as many pain pills as before and is not grumpy at all

I had a caretaker come in today and was able to go to the $5 sale at my supermarket with my walking buddy. I also went to the bead store. My new hobby is making bracelets. I use make jewelry with smaller beads and wire when my eyes were better. But with time and age stopped doing it. I had a friend on the bus show me that the cord she uses for her bracelets was big enough for me to see and I could buy beads with bigger holes. Now I am on a roll.

Good MID morning, positive peeps!

It is overcast here in the Finger Lakes. But it's not precipitating.

I was out at the stores long enough for my MIL to get nervous yesterday. Her friends came over and brought her dinner, so I went out to the stores to prowl around. She texted that she was worried about me, so I called her and told her that I was on my way home. I was gone from 2:30 to 6:30. I had been shopping in 6 different stores. On an exploratory mission. My MIL does not get out and there are some things that she has remarked that she would like to have and wishes she had and bemoans the fact that she can't just get out and find for herself; a bra that fits right, a certain kind of pen, a nice selection of markers for her coloring projects, Egyptian cotton fragranced soaps, sheets that are 100% cotton and high thread count, swiss cheese that tastes like swiss cheese, good bread that tastes like bread . . . just to name a few desires. I accomplished half of that list, I think.
I also picked up the groceries to make some nice meals for her and I treated myself to some yarn and a crochet hook "wallet" and a hook selection (thinking of you KSNICKER!)

So, now I will stay in for the weekend. My sister, who lives nearby, went to my mom's yesterday and will stop by for a visit when she returns on Sunday. It will be good to see her. Haven't seen her since she created a beautiful wedding for my daughter this summer.

Okay, let me see. . .

Kathy, I look forward to your project pictures. Always a treat.

Shirl, I can feel the peace and relaxation in the Lord when I read about the decisions you and Clenton have made about his care. I always think of that saying "getting old is not for sissies" because along with the peace, you can't help but feel that "love/sadness" feeling. I don't know how to describe it, but it's a feeling that seems to increases with age and saying goodbye to all sorts of things that we took for granted in our youth. Helps us to remember all the precious moments that we have now and take full advantage of every breath we take!

Wanda, I hope that you have a very enjoyable weekend after your full work week. It will be nice to have a little time to dream about your garden and make plans for warmer days.

Dot, the thought of overeating split pea soup makes me smile. Not sure why, but it strikes me funny. And delicious! Love the heartiness of split pea soup. Not a soup on my plan at this time. Too high in carbs for me right now. But I'll bet it was delicious! Persevere and that extra pound will go away, for sure.

Irene, I don't think it's selfish to find outlets that you enjoy. I think it's a good healthy plan. Have fun in the "hunt" for enjoyment.

Kathryn, I have a bag of sauerkraut in the fridge right now, just waiting to feed my healthy gut bacteria. I looked for some yogurt yesterday, but the only kind that was good came in a container to feed a million, so I decided to skip it. I'll try again next trip. Have you tried any kombucha? I've tried it a couple of times. I like it all right, BUT it seems awfully expensive for a drink. There's a lot of information around about fermenting your own foods. I'll bet Wanda knows a bit about that. Nice that you are using your knowledge and tools to help your hubby heal.

Donna, hope the Texas weather stays "Texas weather" for you this weekend. Last week the pipes froze at DH's office building. My MIL said," I didn't know it gets that cold in Texas." I told her about one day every year we go below freezing in Houston. I know you get a little colder up where you are, but being here in upstate NY, I'll take a Texas winter any day! Hope you have a great weekend and get a visit with your GS.

Candi, we haven't met yet. Are you TCLADY? I look forward to getting to know you better.

Mauri, I'm sending my positive vibes to you for a great weekend. Hope your 5% challenge is going well!

To any other positive people who stop by, have a great day. Make it special! If I missed anyone, please accept my apologies. I'll try and catch you later.

~Nancy~

Good morning. It's a cloudy morning and we're only going to be in the low 20's today, hope maybe the sun will come out. Got a load of whites done this morning, DH was all out of t-shirts. We have a recertification meeting in the office this morning, suppose to be at 11, but saw maintenance guy and he said Tammy might be a little late getting here.

I am going over to Holt Rehab after lunch to see Joyce, talked with her last night and she sounds like the pneumonia is getting better, her caretaker is suppose to be bringing me some clean clothes and other stuff to take to Joyce. Another lady here was going to go with me but she's sick, so won't be going. There sure is a lot of crud going around. I have it but not as bad as some.

The nurse is suppose to call Tuesday to see how Clenton's doing, I am afraid if he's not doing much better they'll want him to come back to the VA again, we'll see. Once again I thank you all for your prayers.

Wanda that's good Garry has a little more time to get feeling better before going to his mom's. I hope the o2 will help her. Sometimes scented things aggravate my sinuses but nothing like what you experience. I like your positive that you don't have to clean the bathrooms, lol.

Kathy you are doing good on getting in whatever exercise you can. This weeks been hit and miss with me, hubby's health is a little more important right now. Though the other day I did ride the bike for 30 min. while waiting for the washer to get done so I could throw the clothes in the dryer.

Kathryn hope you can get Ron's C-diff under control, that can't be pleasant for either one of you. That's so cool that you're making your own bracelet. We can never have to many prayers being said.

Dot I sometimes eat seconds of something I've made cause it taste so good.

Irene any day can be a new start, believe me I've made plenty.

Candi, Mauri, Nancy, Donna and anyone else that may pop in, have a fab Friday!

Hugs,
Shirl

ood morning! Still no nasties on the ground, but at 28ļ itís plenty cold. (for us, anyway ha) I did my grocery shopping yesterday, so I plan to hibernate this weekend. We went ahead and rescheduled Coveís visit for next weekend, because the forecast just keeps getting uglier.

Jim is so antsy Ė cabin fever to the Nth degree! So I thawed out a pork tenderloin for him to work his magic on, and we did a little meal planning. And some friends expressed interest in getting together, so hopefully theyíll come over and eat with us. A little company will do him good. Weíll go to Lubbock next Tuesday for his doctorís appointment, so that will get him out a bit, too. Every little bit helps. Hopefully weíll get to visit with Jake (DS). Jim is lamenting having this recuperation time during the winter, which he loves. Heíd love to get outside while the weather is so cold. Weirdo. Hahahaha!

Nancy, itís good that you do get chances to get out and shop, etc, while your MIL has someone else over. You need the little break! Itís good of you to be there while you can, to give your SIL some breathing room. Itís overwhelming to be the caregiver.
I think you and I are an example of being on the same wavelength. We keep posting at the same time!

Dot, freezing single servings of the soup is such a great idea. Itís so much easier to keep to one serving if you have to actually thaw out another to eat it. And hang in there with Leslie Ė isnít she great?!

Shirl, Iím glad Clentonís pneumonia is improving. Iím sorry to hear about that spot in his lung, but thankfully he has attentive doctors watching it and giving yíall sound advice. And he has you, which is a blessing! Hugs!
Yay for Dirk!

Kathryn, Iím so touched to hear about my star! Perfect. I appreciate the prayers so much. I am praying for yíall, too.

Irene, we all ought to concentrate on the things that make us happiest, instead of the things we feel we ďshouldĒ do! Good for you Ė thatís a very positive thing!

Wanda, I love my Fitbit, too! That automatic syncing to the computer is such a cool deal. Itís so much simpler than having to track manually!

Kathy, we feel very blessed to see Cove each month. Many of my friends donít get that, and given that his mom and my son are not ďtogether,Ē sheís more than generous with us. Weíre also fortunate she married such a kind and generous man who isnít threatened by our involvement in Coveís life and encourages it! Heís a wonderful stepdad to Cove. I hope you get a visit with Gracie, Noah and Dylan!!
When Jim asked about things we could do together this weekend, I said, ďYou mean aside from naps, right?Ē We had a good laugh about that. You know how I love my naps! Canít wait to see your DDís sweater when youíve finished it!

Hello and happy Friday to anyone else who stops by. Y'all enjoy your day!

Good Morning Sparkies...

Wanda - I was all ready to post and thought I'd check to see if you had posted. And yep you did. lol Now you made me jealous too... Garry does the bathrooms? UGH You are so lucky. hehehe I use a lot of bleach as well even in the kitchen after the preparation of chicken and all. Thank goodness I don't have allergies to it like you. Sorry to hear that your MIL has to go on O2... Hope that it helps her to feel better.
Last night I woke myself up gasping. I found that even in the daytime I stop breathing. It's a weird feeling. So need to practice deep breathing (I'm a very shallow breather)
Thanks for all your positives. It's because of you and this team that I continue to "TRY" to move and continue on this journey.

Kathryn - I forgot to mention that I love the idea about your bracelet you are making. I feel honored that you got me tail fin on there too. hehehe Now you too can splash when you want. hehehe You are such an awesome person. I love how you are so dedicated to your Ron. He's one lucky guy to have you and well as us having you here on this team. Have fun making that bracelet.

Shirl - Glad you made it to Battle Creek and back safely. Sorry to hear that that spot is getting bigger. Hopefully the lung Dr will help him as well. I'm glad that the antibiotic are helping the pneumonia though. Hopefully he will get to feeling better now. I think it's amazing that he is 90 years young. And you have obviously have him somewhat trained on cleaning up after himself. hehehe I know Andy tries to clean up sometimes too... but it's never like I clean. hehehe Gotta love em...
Glad that Dirk got the job in Tampa. It's beautiful over there... Very busy traffic wise but beautiful near the water. Congrats to them on getting out of MI and all that weather you have. lol Now remember if you ever get to FL we will have to meet up for lunch or something.

Dot - Great word for 2017. I'm so guilty of over eating on the soup as well as other things. Great to admit it and be accountable for your actions. Just dust off and continue on with a new day. You'll do better today. Keeping my fingers crossed that I will as well. hehehe

Irene - Love that there was a tribute page for your DH so people could share their memories. that is the best way to move on with your life. Keep those memories close and you be good to yourself daily. ((hugs))

Nancy - Thanks for explaining about MIL. It's great that you and your DH gives his Sister time off to prevent burn out. I was the only caregiver for my mom and Burned out really bad. so I can relate. Keep up the good work and enjoy your time together and your upcoming visit with your sister and mom. ((hugs))

Candi - Do I hear that you may be rethinking about where you retired to? Haha So much Snow... Brrr hope there is nothing serious with your car.

Donna - Brrr Hope that freezing weather stays away from you and us too. We've been nice and warm highs in the 70's and low 80's. Love it but I do like the occasional cool down. Have fun if you get to see Cove. If not there is always next week. You are lucky that you get to see him from time to time. I think Gracie, Noah and Dylan are heading back to Indiana soon. They had two weeks of vacation and got to do a lot of fun things. Hope they are able to stop in one more time before they leave.
Enjoy your weekend... Hope you get your nap times in. hehehe

Mauri - Thinking of you and hoping you are doing well this week. I know how you feel about all that sn*w. ((hugs))

I'm still working on DD sweater. All I have left is sleeves and then a edging around that whole thing... don't worry I will post a pic when it's done. hehehe And No way will I be doing another one. hehehe I have a couple simpler ones I will try out but I really like making the smaller things like Animals... Oh SIL loves Dragons so I will be making one of them sometime. He is wanting it in Red. hehehe

Enjoy your Friday everyone and Have a great weekend!

Good Morning, Happy Friday everyone,

This has been a long week at work and I'm sure looking forward to the weekend to unwind.

Candi...I have the FITBIT one and really like the simplicity of it. I'm on my second one now and find that it works very well for tracking what I need to track. I love that it downloads all the information to my computer if I'm within 15 feet of the computer. Re-charging is very simply also.
Good luck with finding one that works for you. I like to track my steps each day and it helps to keep me motivated to move.

Shirl...YAY on Dirk getting the job. That is wonderful news. Now the excitement really starts happening. It will be nice to have brother and sister living closer to each other and it gives you a nice warm place to go visit *grin*. I'm sorry about the results from Clenton's chest xray, and it sounds like you both have made a good decision to let the Good Lord handle things. If it is slow growing and with his age, treatments sounds like more of an invasion. Keeping you both in my prayers. Oxygen probably will help him also. Garry's mom is getting oxygen set up for herself now also, which we hope will give her some relief. So glad that you had safe travels, this time of year is so up and down with road conditions.

We are going to take in my staff Christmas get-together tomorrow evening as Garry isn't going to SK this weekend. His brother-in-law and niece are going to go instead. Happy about that as Garry still has a bit of congestion and sure doesn't want to give that to his mom. Next weekend is Kaeli's birthday and the following weekend is Garry's birthday. Busy times ahead. I think Quin and family are planning on coming down for Garry's birthday if Quin has the time off and as long as Garry doesn't have to be in SK.

Dot...I love my crockpot for making up some nice hardy soups and stews in the cold months. They just seem like such great comfort food. Your word for 2017 is a great one. I love how everyone's word just seems so right for them. That gain will come back off, you are determined and that is great.

Irene...I'm a real home body and often have to make myself go out on the weekends and especially in the evenings. With working all day, I just like my own home once work is done. A good book and a cup of tea are perfect *grin*. We are blessed that our girls live so close and they often drop in for visits. I'm not a big shopper and unless we are going out to friends places, home sounds real good to me. I find going out to events can be difficult as I'm very sensitive to perfumes and it seems a waste to spend money to go somewhere only to have to leave because I can't breath or have broken out in hives. You will find a routine that works for you. Hugs.

Nancy...bless your heart for being there to help out. Caregivers often get forgotten and they need some down time also. So glad that you are able to help out and give a break where it is needed. Like you, we don't consider it a burden to be there for Garry's Mom. The 5 hour drive to get there is not always enjoyable with our weather in the winter, but she is the glue in our family dynamics and we wouldn't not go.

Kathy...I'm so proud of you and your "Try" efforts. It makes me so happy to know that you are taking those steps to keep moving even when it is difficult. You go girl!

Kathryn...I'm sure you will get the meals figured out quickly as to what Ron needs and can have. You are a wonderfully dedicated wife, friend an woman. I love that you have made your own special bracelet to hold friends close in prayer. What a wonderful idea. Enjoy your day.

Donna...I truly am blessed with my hubby and his willingness to clean up. Just to make you really jealous...he does the bathrooms too *grin*. He thinks nothing is clean unless you use bleach or CLR, I use plain old baking soda and vinegar. So the agreement is, if he wants to use chemicals....he has to do it, turn the fan on and close the door so the smell doesn't get to the rest of the house. I break out in hives and have difficulty breathing around chemicals.
Works out fine for me. *grin*.

Mauri...Hope you haven't frozen in one spot...this crazy winter weather! I know you hate driving in the snow and hope that you are doing ok.

Time to head out the door for work. Happy Friday all,

Hugs,
Wanda

It's past new year but now i want a new start I am looking at things I do , mainly outside the home . In winter I don't want to go out especially at night .
It may sound selfish but I want to concentrate on things I enjoy doing .not ones I feel I must do,
So it's thinking g time now then acting on the results, I see it as being positive !

Kathryn wish I could blame the gain on the ham but really can't. The ham was a reduced sodium ham...I have high B/P which is under control so I am very careful, The bone was what I used in the soup and it was mostly clean and I did not add any ham. Still have some chunks in the freezer. Have to be honest and admit I just ate to much...my very own fault. I thank you for trying to take me off the hook my SP friend.

All the best to you,
Dot

Mauni thank you for sparking me to make incantation bracelets. I made one for my closest Spark friends and just love wearing it. I look at it and pray for us all to have an easy journey on getting healthier.

Shril emoticon going up for your dear hubby

Nancy you are such a good daughter to take good care of your MIL, and a good sister letting your SIL have a break

Dot maybe your weight went up because of the salt in the ham

Irene sending you lots of emoticon

Wanda did I tell you about my little pepper plant? Last spring I planted a seed from a green pepper I got at the supermarket in a Starbucks glass. I had it sitting on my plant table and it was not doing much. In the summer I put it in the living room window sill. Last month it bloomed twice and now I have a super small pepper growing emoticon

Donna you are a blue star on my bracelet for the lone star state. I lived there for a few months when I was 20 and I have a sister and two brothers who live there, great state.

Positive quote-Tell your mind to get out of your body's way.

Talked to the home health nurse and she says hubby will always have this we just have to treat it with antibiotics and a change in his diet. His eating so many sweets and not the right kind of yogurt was not helping him. I also have to add raw sauerkraut to his meals. He will also have to eat plan yogurt with every meal. We can add a little fruit to that.
I kind of over did it day before yesterday on cookies myself so it might be best if we keep those kind of things out of the house.

Good afternoon. It was raining when we left around 8 this morning, there was a real thin layer of ice on the car, but parking lot and roads were ok, when we came home from Battle Creek it looked like we had, had more of the freezing precipitation here. It's cold enough there's still ice in the grass.

I want to thank all of you for your prayers and well wishes for Clenton, they mean the world to me. The antibiotic seems to be working on his pneumonia as he's not coughing as much and slept pretty good last night, he still has quite a bit on congestion, but think it's getting better, his doctor gave him a prescription for some capsules for his cough, he can take two three times a day, he took two when we got home and he hasn't been coughing. The reason the doctor wanted to talk with us about his chest x-ray it was concerning a spot in his lower right lung lobe, about 3 yrs. ago his doctor sent him to Ann Arbor VA to a lung specialist about a small spot that had showed up in an x-ray, she told us it probably was cancer but without doing a biopsy she couldn't say for sure, she also told us if we went ahead with a biopsy it could cause more of a problem, we decided then to just leave it alone, well now that spot which then was the size of a thumbnail is now the size of a golf ball and once again we are just going to leave it alone, if it is cancer it's slow growing and his doctor now said if we did all the treatments and stuff it would probably shorten his life quite a bit. We will just put it in the Lord's hands and be thankful for however much time we have together. His o2 level was 90 so the doctor put in a request for him to see the lung specialist, so they'll be calling to set up an appointment for that. We really feel blessed with the 91 years he's been given so far and will continue to be grateful for each new day.

My other news is Dirk got offered the job in Tampa FL and accepted, so Dirk and our DD, Shelly will be moving from OH to FL. I am happy for them, they both love FL and would have retired down there anyway, so now their just getting a head start on getting settled in down there. I love my kids and just want them to be happy. Her brother is happy his sis is going to be living not to far from him.

Dot I like your word for 2017, that's a good one. Your soup sounded good. MI winter is a good time for hot soup, warms our innards and makes us feel good. You'll get more familiar with us all as time goes on and we'll get to know you better too.

Irene those anniversary dates are hard. My BIL's memorial service was on Oct. 29, and that would have been my sister and his 70th anniversary, he was 94 when he passed on. I think her living in assisted living is helping her deal with his being gone as she's around other people and her DD's are so good to her and spend time with her, and I can see her more often since they moved her down closer to all of us, she just turned 90 in Nov. She just takes each day as it comes. That was nice to have a tribute page for your DH and people could share their memories.

Nancy I so admire how you keep learning more and more about diabetes and ways to control your blood sugars. It sounds like you and MIL are enjoying each others company and it's great this gives your SIL a break. We took care of my parents for a time, but it was a family affair, my DH and our 4 kids all pitched in and they were all in school at the time. Keep up the good job with those blood sugars.

Kathy well another of our kids is going to be a FL person, that made her brother happy. I am glad Dirk got the job, now they've got to list their house plus fly down to FL and house shop.

Kathryn you're a lot like Nancy, you want as much information as you can find to know how to deal with the C-diff. You're both awesome.

Donna I hope you don't get the freezing rain, we got some today, but we didn't have any problems going to and coming back from Battle Creek. It sounds like Jim's recovery is coming along nicely. Why do men have such a hard time cleaning up after themselves? My DH will say he's cleaned up and maybe he really thinks he has, but not the way I would, lol. Oh well, I still love him no matter how much messes he may make. Hope the business can pick up some new clients, that'd be great. Hope you get to get with Cove this weekend, I know you really enjoy your time with him.

Candi hope you guys don't get buried under too much snow on that side of our great state. I am hoping we don't get anymore freezing rain this evening, but if we do thank goodness we don't have to go out.

Mauri hope your area doesn't have too much snow. Now how many days is it till spring? LOL.

I hope I didn't miss anyone and hope all are having a good Thursday!

Hugs,
Shirl

Kathryn, I wish you lived next door...I would be bringing over the Split Pea Soup to share. I am afraid I ate to much last night and this morning the scales showed me what I had done...gained back what I had lost. Oh! well, time for me to eat salads and boiled eggs. Do need protein. New weight is easier to lose than old weight right? I can only hope so. I am making up one cup servings of the soup to freeze. I can have the one cup for lunch...and still eat a low calorie dinner. Will watch what goes into my mouth today. Will also "walk to the beat" with Leslie for a mile. That should help.

I chose the word PERSEVERE for 2017 so that is what I will do...no good crying over spilled milk. Just do what I have to do to make things move in the right direction again.

Thanks for being there for me and making me feel welcome.
Hugs and Blessings all, I did read all the posts and got to know you a little bit more.

Happy Thursday to all!

First of all, Thinking of you Shirl and Clenton, and praying that his Dr. visit goes well.

The snow is gone. Warmer temps and rain have washed away the white stuff. For now. My MIL has some friends coming over this afternoon who are bringing her dinner, so I'm taking that opportunity to "fly the coop" and get my shopping done.

Kathy, you asked who cares for my MIL when I'm not here. My sister-in-law lives a town over and works here in town. She stops in daily for lunch and leaves her dog here for the afternoon, then she comes back when she gets out at 3 and gets supper for her mom, and hangs with her for a while. On Wednesdays and Saturdays a gal from "Helping Hands" comes in and checks on her, does light house work and makes her some meals. It is working out so far. My main reason for coming was to give my SIL a little respite. She is the one who is close by and has the most responsibility. DH comes and stays 2-3 weeks each April and October so that his sister can take a real vacation. We don't want SIL to burn out!

Well, ladies, duty calls. I'm going to go feed my MIL. Thanks for being around!

~Nancy~

Good morning! Itís already colder this morning, as the cold snap moves into the area. It was almost 80ļ yesterday, and the high today should be in the low 50s. But itís still just 26ļ at 10am, so weíll see. The high tomorrow is supposed to be 37ļ, with freezing precipitation. Itís not looking good to be able to get Cove this weekend, but we can next weekend if not. Itís disappointing, but itís just not safe to be on the roads down here in Texas! Haha

Nancy, I know youíre looking forward to getting back home and back to your routine. Thank goodness for you being able to spend this time with your MIL, though! And Iím glad youíll get to visit with your mom, too. Itís good to see you posting and to find out a bit about your days up there.

Dot, your soup sounds delicious! This is definitely soup season. Donít sweat figuring out who everyone is; that comes with time. Weíre just glad to have you with us!

Kathryn, I wish Iíd known you about 14 years ago so I would have known to use the dish soap ďallergyĒ trick! Hahaha Iím sure Jimís mom would have gotten a kick out of that. I scold her for teaching him to cook so wonderfully but not teaching him to clean up after himself. She laughs and takes all the blame for that!
I love the idea of the bracelet! What a wonderful way to remember everyone when youíre praying, as well as a sweet reminder. GREAT positive quote today, too Ė I truly believe in that!
Your husband sounds like such an easygoing, nice and strong man. Nicer than I would be, Iím sure. Haha

Irene, Iím sorry for your loss. Itís so wonderful you had that kind of support. emoticon

Wanda, hug your husband for cleaning up after himself today! Maybe I should nag more? Hahaha!
I agree about oil pipelines. Seems the ones who complain the loudest about oil are driving big cars and flying around in planes as much as ever.
The moon was spectacular this morning! I was taken by the sunrise, which was bright and colorful, and then turned west toward work and WOW!! It was so gigantic and bright!

Kathy, I hope yíall both get over those colds soon!

Shirl, how is Clenton feeling today?

Hello to anyone else who stops in! Y'all have a great day!

Haven't been in the last few days, been busy looking into different activity trackers. Seem the SPAT I ,and 13000+ others, have been using will no longer work after 3/21 as the company that manufactured and monitored them is going out of business. Does anyone here use the FITBIT Zip. I posted on the FITBIT team page with a few questions but as yet no one has replied with answers.

Today we had a luncheon meeting but we woke up to yet more snow so hubby is out blowing out the drive (3rd time this week) then we will get to town for grocery shopping, the larder is getting low. Tomorrow we need to go in again as we have an appointment with the dealership to check the truck as we are getting a "stability problem" message on the car computer and ONSTAR sent a message it should be looked into right away. What next.

Haven't time to read all the post but know you are all in my thoughts and prayers. Need to go get ready to head out to town as soon as hubby finishes the drive, this keeps up we will beat out record snowfall (2013/2014 winter) when we had 265 inches second only to a town in the Keweenaw peninsula and that sticks out into Lake Superior. Who knew we were retireing to one of the snowiest areas in Michigan.

Talk to you all when I next get a chance, have a great day everyone.

Good Morning Sparkies...

Happy Thursday to you all...

So many posting I too have a hard time remembering who posted what... But it's great getting to know all of you.

Wanda - I love your description of that moon this morning. I saw it last night and thought that it will be full again soon. Hope that Garry is feeling better now. I know that we are still trying to get over this cold as well. We even asked the kids to wait for another day to come visit when we feel better. Just no energy and well naps are required around here these days. lol

Shirl - Sending prayers your way for Clenton. Sure hope that it's nothing serious. Glad you got him the cough syrup. My ribs still hurt from all the coughing I was doing. ((hugs))

Kathryn - I looked up that C-diff as well. So glad that you are taking precautions with that and learning how to take care of hubby. It's great that he is able to wean himself off them pain pills. Hope he is not in a lot of pain now. We should call you Nurse Kathryn. Has a nice ring doesn't it? hehehe ((hugs))

Donna - Good luck on them new possible clients. I used to love going on them out of town business meetings. I loved seeing now places and meeting new people. But with you having Jim at home recouping I can understand you not wanting to take off out of town right now. Plus there is Cove too. Wouldn't want to miss that for sure. hehehe And yes it's amazing that these guys forget that they need to clean up after themselves. I've tried Wanda's way of Reminding (nagging) hehehe But it don't work with the Selective Hearing that he has. Bahahaha

Dot - Thank you for being a prayer warrior for us too. I appreciate it. This cold is kicking our Tail fins as hubby has it now too. As for remembering us and our names. That will come in time. Some of us here have been together for 9 Positive years. I'm probably the easiest to remember... I'm the resident MERMAID. hehehe Well in my mind. hahaha I live in Florida and we recently purchased a little home near the beach that we have fixed up a bit and now travel over from time to time to relax by the sea. Oh and Everyone loves when I "virtually" ~~SPLASH~~ them... But I'm not allowed to do it in Winter months. hehehe Else they turn to Popsicles. hehehe But hey... They throw "Virtual" Snowballs at me. hehehe
Pssst... Yep I'm the silly one. Gotta Smile too right?

Irene - Those anniversaries are no fun sometimes... Try to just remember those good memories and in time it won't hurt so much. Glad you just took a down day and are back with us now. Hang in there... ((hugs))

Nancy - Thanks for explaining your days to us. I've been wondering what you were up too. I'm so happy for you that you are learning so much and applying it to your diet and have your BS under control. And love it that you tell your MIL what you learned each day. lol You should be a teacher when you grow up. hehehe Now who will be with her once you leave to come home? Is there someone else that will stay with her?

Candi - How are you doing today? Is hubby out there clearing that driveway? I just can't imagine living where you have to do that. But I do think it's beautiful country. Enjoy!

Mauri - Thinking of you these days and know how you are doing with all this Sn*w and all. Don't let it Keep you down M'amica... ((hugs))

Ok I've rambled on enough for one day. lol I'm off to get a few minutes on the Bike... Wish me luck... hehehe emoticon

Good Morning everyone,

The moon is so full, bright and beautiful this morning. It is shining so bright that it is lighting up in my LR. No clouds in the sky so maybe we will have sunshine today!

Irene...anniversary dates are so hard. So glad that you have lots of support. I want to say that they get easier as each passes but I don't know that they get easier, we just learn to adapt to a new life style. Thinking of you and wishing you strength, courage and much friendship.

Kathy...so proud of you with all your walking/biking exercise. WOW. I logged into the post this morning and saw your numbers...so happy for you. Keep up the great effort. I hope you adjust to the oxygen quickly and find that you have more energy to do your daily things. I'm starting to plan out my garden for the spring and want to double my tomato plants this year to 26. More potatoes also. Pepper plants for sure and onions, carrots, peas, and, and, and *grin*.
Told Garry he is going to have very little yard work to do in the back yard as it is going to be all garden beds soon *grin*.
Are you off to the beach anytime soon?

Shirl...keeping you and Clenton in my prayers. I hope the chest xray results are nothing too bad. It is always a bit disconcerning when the doctor calls you back. Keep positive and know that we are always here to support and encourage you. Hugs.

Nancy...This has been a different winter for you with all the snow. Hoping you have a great trip back home in sunshine and clear roads when it's time to go.

Donna...yay some potential new clients to visit. Wishing you much success. Now that BC has approved the Kinder Morgan pipeline we are hopefully that our economy here in AB will begin to take on a positive note. I'm all for alternate renewable energy but the oil is still necessary in our lives. It's much safer to ship the oil through underground pipelines than it is to transport it by rail on the surface through sensitive areas that would be damaged if there was an accident. Hope that you are able to arrange time with little Cove that works for all of you. It's so much fun having those little ones around. Have a great day.

Dot...A prayer warrior is always appreciated, than you for being one.

Candi...are you snowed in?

Kathryn...glad you are well versed in the precautions that you need to take when helping Ron. Hope this passes soon and he gains a full recovery. Keeping you both in my prayers.
I am blessed with a hubby that does clean up in the kitchen when he makes a mess. (probably more out of not wanting to hear me nag *grin*).

Mauri...thinking of you today. Hugs...I miss your posts here.

Have a great and wonderful day all. Sorry if I missed anyone.

Hugs,
Wanda

Yesterday was the first anniversary of my husband's death , of course I had no idea how I would be. Looking back now I was fine. Yes I shed tears but they were of sentimental reasons not sorrow . I had flowers, I had so many messages of support and warmth. My husband has a web page set up after his death. The tributes to him poured in all day happy memories and funny stories , family and friends were great support. I didn't do much all day but am back in track today .

Dot hubby and I will be right over for some soup, we both love split pea soup with ham. emoticon on your weight loss emoticon Every other Day Diet, I fast every other day by eating only 500 calories for the day. You would think you would get hungry but really I no longer do. I read that eating 5 or 6 small meals a day makes you hungrier. I eat one or two small snacks of about 100 calories and than eat a meal of about 300 calories.

Nancy you are really strong and wise to handle your blood sugar with just diet. Good for you keeping to your "guns". emoticon Keeping your blood sugar down. I don't like bread and my hubby doesn't understand why I won't eat it. He has to have a slice of whole wheat bread with dinner almost every night.

Donna I am glad you looked up C-Diff, the internet tells a lot about it. I have a great home health nurse who told me how to keep from getting it. I have to use gloves when changing hubby, I was already doing that and have to wash my hands with soap and water, was already doing that. Good to hear Jim is doing better. Men they just have to get in that kitchen and cook but have no idea how to clean, well most of them. When I first met hubby I told him I broke out if I touched dish soap so he did the dishes after cooking. emoticon

Kathy hope you are doing better with that O2. Making a new Frodo sounds like a neat project. I bought myself some beads and cord to make my own incantation bracelet. I bought beads for everyone of my closest Spark friends and wanted a mermaid, they were out but did have the tail fins. I will use the bracelet to pray for my good friends.

Wanda such fun NEW BOOKS I envy you. I need to make a trip to the library maybe this Sunday.

Shril sorry Clinton is not feeling well. I too would worry about that x-ray. Hope it is something that can be fixed right up.

Hubby's doctor would not see him for his appointment because of the C-Diff so hubby could not talk to her about needing pain pills renewed. She only gave him enough for one week and would see him in two weeks. And she cut him down from 4 pills a day to two. I am mad but hubby says "Okay I will wean myself off them" He has done that in the past so I know he can do it again. Today he has only had one pill and two Tylenol. He is a strong man, I am very proud of him.

Good Afternoon everyone,

Hope your day has been good to you so far. Heard from my DD and that always means a good day for me. After I finished talking to her, I put on a pot of Green Pea Soup with the frozen ham bone from Christmas eve. That ham was so good. It is bubbling away will enjoy it for dinner tonight.

Forgive me for not making a list and addressing my messages to all of you. So far I am getting to know each of you and have not gotten very far. Those of you that have sick husbands I will put on my daily prayer list. Anytime you need prayer please let me know, the Lord always has an open ear - in fact he even knows what we pray for before we even say it. Glad my DD told me that today. I am enjoying getting to know each of you. Remembering names is something else. LOL

Have to go and stir my soup...will let you know tomorrow whether it is any good.
Hugs and God Bless you all,
Dot

Good Morning, Wanda, Kathy and Shirl!

I will be at my MIL's until the last week of January and then I will spend about 2 weeks at my mother's house. My mom lives about an hour and 45 minutes away from my MIL. I hope to be back in Texas in time to celebrate St. Valentine's Day with my sweetheart. I will have to travel with an eye on the weather, though. My sister is flying up around the first of February and will be riding back with me. She has some business to attend to, so we coordinated our trip plans.

The time is going pretty fast here. I think part of the reason is that I stay in bed longer because it's so cold that I don't want to get out of my warm bed in the morning.

My major activity is cooking and cleaning up after myself. My MIL really loves the way I cook for her and wait on her. She is always appreciative! When I am on the computer, she says that she thinks I am an expert already and wonders why I am always reading about diet and health. I share some tidbits with her and let her know what I have "learned" today.

She loves to read and I shared with her that my friend Wanda works at a library and just got a new shipment of books. She can understand the delight that could bring. I tell her that there are some friends that I have known for almost 9 years that have shared the journey with me. She can see where that could be helpful and nice.

My mother-in-law and I have grown fond of each other and grown in respect for one another over the years. We haven't always seen eye to eye and have had our disagreements, but we certainly are FAMILY now and I enjoy being able to pitch in and help out. It is nothing like a chore. I tease because she is quite set in her ways, but then again, so am I. I can give up my ways for a month. But, I cannot compromise my eating habits. Having diabetes gives me the strength to stick to my nutritional GUNS so to speak. She doesn't quite understand why I don't eat grains, but when I tell her that they raise my blood sugar she acquiesces and lets me do my thing.

The wind howled last night and blew a lot of the snow away. The car had a couple of inches of snow on it when I went to bed last night and was all cleaned off this morning! The wind made last night the coldest night upstairs in my room, so far. But I survived!

Tomorrow some friends are bringing dinner for my MIL and I will take that opportunity to step out and do a little shopping, knowing that MIL is being entertained and well cared for.

Other than that, it's the same routine. 3 squares and clean up. Some light housekeeping. Judge Judy, People's court, news, Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy and the Hallmark movie du jour. That's the routine.
emoticon

Have a great day ladies. I am glad to be back in your company my Spark Buddies!

~Nancy~

Happy hump day! I hope youíre all having a good week. Itís quiet here; my boss is on a trip with his son in law, and Iím holding down the fort. Another pretty day, then temps should start dropping again as we brace for an ice storm over the weekend. Then itís supposed to warm up into the 60s again.

We were supposed to have Cove here this weekend, but if itís as nasty as weíre being warned, we may have to reschedule for next weekend. So fingers crossed! However, our new fruit trees need some stretches of cold weather, so weíll take them, I guess. (like we have any choice! Ha)

Jim is doing well. When I got home from work yesterday evening he had managed to take a bath by himself and was already dressed and back in his recliner. I scolded him for doing it when I wasnít there to help him if he fell or something, but he was pretty pleased with himself for lightening my load. We go back to Lubbock next Tuesday to get the stitches out and a new cast.

Candi, I never tried out the SPAT. I guess Iím glad now. I went with the inexpensive Fitbit Zip. Hate that youíre having to switch!

Kathryn, I hate to hear about Ronís C-diff, but knowledge is power, after all. At least he can go back to eating his fruits and veggies. I had to look it up when you mentioned it before, as I wasnít familiar. Just take care that you donít catch it! Heíll be as good as new soon with your terrific care.
Love todayís positive quote! And well done on eliminating those 2 pounds!

Dot, congrats to you, too, on eliminating 1.6 pounds! Way to go!

Nancy, hello from Texas! Itís warm for now, but the coming storm should make you feel a little better. Haha Iím so glad to hear your blood sugars are getting better! Youíre a strong woman to manage it through diet alone!

Wanda, how nice that you and your hubby are reconnecting with friends! It really does make the heart sing when it happens.

Kathy, your foot really must be doing better Ė Iím so happy to hear it. And yes, be patient with yourself. Youíll get the hang of the O2.
My boss will be contacting some potential new clients beginning next week. We may have a few trips coming up to introduce ourselves to people. I kind of hope I donít have to go, but then getting out is always kind of a nice change of pace, too.
I had to laugh about Andy making messes for you. Jim is better enough that heís getting into the kitchen some, long enough to make himself a snack here and there. Somehow heís not better enough to clean up after himself or even put things into the sinkÖ. So mysterious! Hahaha!

Shirl, glad to hear youíll at least get a tiny break from the weather before you get another round. That is crazy weather! I hope you get good news from the doctor when you do see him.
I hope Clenton is feeling a little better today!

Y'all have a great day!

Good morning. Well the snow we had yesterday is just about gone and the strong winds and rain have stopped for now. We are suppose to get in the 40's again today and the rain will be back later, crazy weather.

I just got a call from Battle Creek VA and his doctor wants DH back to discuss the chest x-ray they took yesterday, that has me worried, so will be going at 10 tomorrow morning. He slept better last night, didn't cough so much, but I went and picked up some cough syrup before coming home last night as I knew the antibiotic wouldn't help with the cough. Thanks for all the well wishes and please keep him in prayer, much appreciated.

Wanda there is so much sickness this year cold and flu, we both had our flu shots, but that doesn't seem to help with what ever is going around. Hope Garry can shake his cold before he goes to see mom. Hope Kaeli gets to feeling better.

Irene listen to your body and be good to yourself, your important and those other things will get done whenever, not to worry.

Dot hope you found lots of good things when cleaning out that craft closet. I have a dresser I keep my stamping up stuff in and I haven't been doing any cards lately and when I open those drawers I find things I forgot I'd even gotten, lol.

Kathy glad you got the portable O2 bottles they'll make it easier for you. That certainly was an expensive burger, but not something you'd do everyday. Glad you had such a good time with your friend. Good for you with the walking and riding that bike, so proud of you.

Kathryn hope that darn virus gets out of Ron soon, that can't be fun. You are awesome the way you stay on top of things, Ron's a lucky guy for having you to look after him. WTG on those eliminated lbs.

Nancy it sounds like this is going to be a year of you adapting, so your word choice fits well. BS's can be so challenging, we ate supper last night before coming home from the VA so didn't check DH's BS till before bedtime and I am glad we did as his was only 118, and he usually gives his shot right before bed, so told him no shot and got him to eat a little more, his BS was 79 this morning, so gave him a graham cracker with peanut butter on it to help bring it up a little till I got breakfast for him. With being sick he doesn't have much of an appetite right now. When will you be back home?

Donna your shirt made me laugh. Glad the party was successful and that Jim had a great 50th birthday. Hope things pick up for the business.

Candi we had about 4-6" of the white stuff on the ground yesterday morning but then it warmed up and started raining and it's all most all gone now, ready for the next batch. Winter in MI.

I've probably missed someone, but it's nice we have had additions to our team and there's more to chat with. I need a better memory, lol. Wishing all a well Wednesday.

Hugs,
Shirl

Wanda - this makes two days that we were posting about the same time. hehehe I'm glad to hear that MIL has people stopping in on her to help out. And it's great that Garry's brother will be stopping in over the weekend. Gives Garry more time to shake the cold/flu bug.
Enjoy your day of checking out them new books that are coming in.

Good Morning Sparkies...

Happy Wednesday to you all.

I'm trying to catch all the daily Challenges and having fun doing it. hehehe Thank you to all that post them for us to do.

Yesterday was a busy day. I went shopping at two stores. Actually walked through one of them. So got to count that as exercise. Rode the bike as well. Yay... I'm so happy that my foot is feeling better. Took along one of the small portable o2 tanks they dropped off. Trying to adjust to all of this is strange. But I will get it.

Kathryn - Glad that Ron is able to have his fruit again. But what is the C-diff you mentioned? I remember that he got the Virus while at that Rehab place. Good luck getting rid of it.
And thanks for always posting our Positive Quotes. And congrats on your weight Elimination this week.

Dot - Nice to see you. Hope your day is a good one.

Candi - I used to have sleep problems as well when I worked but now I sleep pretty good. Except for waking up to go in the night. Hope you can figure out what you need to do to regulate your sleeps better. That would drive me nuts. hehehe Have a good day.

Shirl - How are you and Clenton doing today? Is he feeling better? Andy has caught my cold now. While I was out at the store I picked up some Muscenex (sp) as one of my friends said that Dr says to take one of the 1200 mg twice a day with lots of water. I did that last night and woke up feeling a little better this morning.

Wanda - How's Garry doing? And how's MIL? Sending prayers for her. I know it's so hard being so far from her. ((hugs))

Nancy - So nice to see you posting. We miss you when your gone. Congrats on getting that BS back in line. You are doing great. How's things up with MIL? Glad you brought your crocheting and knitting to keep you busy. I'm still working on DD's sweater. I've decided that the dog I made came out so well that I'm going to make us one that looks like the pup we lost Frodo. We still miss him so much. hehehe So something to look forward too. And I never make anything for myself. lol

Donna - Nice to see you today. Any luck on finding some new client's. How's Jim doing? AS I'm typing now Andy is in the kitchen cooking and making messes... We know the soup will be good but the mess will still be there for me to clean up. lol Gotta love em huh? hehehe

I know I'm forgetting someone but not sure who so... Hope that everyone has a wonderful day.

Good morning all,

It's half way through my work week and it's payday today...YAY!

We received a shipment in yesterday so this morning I will have books to receive into the system and new titles to examine. Love when shipments arrive. It's so much fun to see all that new material.

This must be the year for Garry and I to connect with old friends. Last weekend we were able to connect with friends we haven't seen for 20 years and had a great visit with them. Yesterday I received a FB message from friends we haven't seen or heard from for close to 25 years. I was so thrilled to hear from them. I had tried several times to see if we could find them and with no luck, yesterday was the magic day. It is so nice to re-connect with people that we have shared history with. I wonder who will be next *grin*.

Off to the dentist today after work for the usual cleaning session. Sure am glad that we have coverage through our work still.

Kathryn...that sucks for you and Ron that he has picked up the virus again. Hope this time he can shake it for good. Nice to know that it is not the fruit that was causing the issue. Way to go on eliminating the 2 pounds and staying on track. Keep up the great effort.

Nancy...good to hear that you are able to keep those blood sugars under control with your diet. Now that the Christmas season has passed by it should be much easier. Not sure if you are aware (you probably are) that cinnamon is supposed to be a great blood sugar stabilizer. I love the taste of cinnamon and enjoy using it on as many things as possible. I like to toss it into my fruit smoothies as well as sprinkle it on my yogurt etc.
How much longer are you with your MIL?

Shirl...sorry to hear that Clenton is not well. This cold and flu season has been pretty intense, at least around here. Even with having gotten the flu shot, so many are still getting sick. Garry's BIL is talking about going to see MIL this weekend with his daughter so if that happens we won't have to go. We talk to her everyday and she has friends popping in to visit and get her whatever she needs so some of the stress has been taken care of. Garry still has his cold and although it's getting better, sure doesn't want to give it to his mom.
I hope that you manage to stay healthy and the Clenton gets well quickly. Thinking of you both.

Kathy, Dot, Irene, Candi, Mauri, Donna, hope you all have a great Wednesday.

Hugs,
Wanda

Happy Tuesday to all.

I'm having a hard time keeping track of the days here. So, I guess I'll just have to visit the daily challenges to keep track of where I am.

My blood sugars are getting back into normal ranges. Hallelujah! If you are controlling them with diet, as I am trying to do, you have to keep fastidious routine. Just the extra few treats of the holiday season made my sugars higher than they should be. I did not go hog wild, but the little I did indulge made for some substantial increases. I was relieved to see my numbers back into the proper range yesterday and this morning. Gives me a sense of empowerment, knowing that I can control my blood sugars with my diet.

An active chat thread makes it a bit more challenging not to leave someone out when you reply. I'm still not up to speed, but I'll try:

Donna, sounds like some good celebrating of Jim. Have fun in Texas. I've been homesick since I've been up here sitting in a snow bank!

Kathryn, I am proud of you for meeting your weight loss goals in the midst of adapting to your new routine. Keep up the good work.

Wanda, I may have to follow your lead and get out into the snow and shovel it for some healthy exercise.

Kathy, I'm sorry to hear that you need oxygen. I wasn't around to witness that change in your routine. I think of you every time I pick up a crochet hook up here at my MIL's. Knitting and crocheting are the only crafts I brought with me.

Shirl, hope you are keeping warm and that Clenton is getting well

Irene and Candi, I hope to get to know you better. Thank you for the challenge today, Irene.

Okay, who did I forget? I'm sure I'll be leaving someone out. If I have please forgive me.

Have a terrific Tuesday!

~Nancy~

Kathryn, thanks for the reminder to be good to ourselves. So easy to turn to food when comfort is needed. Congrats on losing the 2 pounds. I weigh every Monday and was please to see I had dropped 1.6 pounds. Now if I can just keep it up. Glad you know what is causing your hubby's problem and hope you get it cleared up soon. Is the other day diet the one where you cut calories drastically?

Wish I could stay longer and chat but have to go grocery shopping. My very best to all of you today, I wish you all great success in whatever you have to do today.

Hugs and Many Blessings,

Positive quote-Instead of indulging in comfort foods, indulge in comfort hugs.

Doctor's office called hubby has C-Diff, darn. Oh well I know what to do as he had it before in the care home. He can go back on fruits and veg. as that is not what the problem was.

The scale is my friend again down 2 pounds today. At the first of the year I started back on the Every Other Day Diet and am doing good.

Afternoon everyone, temps are going up but snow is falling down, at least 6 inches over night and 3-4 since this morning. They say once the temps get above freezing it will change to rain. yuck.

My sleep pattern is really messed up, some nights I can't get to sleep others I wake up in the middle of the night and can't get back to sleep. One night here and there doesn't bother me but when several run together or are in the same week then I start feeling like a zombie after a bit. I have always been this way even as a teenager so not sure when it started in the first place. I read, play games, put together jig saw puzzles, watch old movies, anything that gets me out of bed and what ever is floating around in my head as I think about the strangest things when I can't sleep. And I have read that you shouldn't stay in the bed. After a bit it catches up with me and I sleep solid for a few days, maybe even a week before it starts all over. My Dr. is aware of it and has offered sleeping pills but I didn't even use them after my breast surgery or any other so I said NO thank you.

Irene you tack care of yourself, don't worry about what you "should" be doing. Your number you job it recovery. Cancer is something you don't fool with, I thought I was going to be one of those people my Dr.s told me wasn't effected by radiation treatment, it showed me in less then a week of treatments that it was the boss not me. Get well friend.

Weather breaks this spring I will need to see our dentist and have some work done, really not looking forward to it I loath going to the dentist.

Do any of you use the SPAT, received an email from SP today that as of 2/21 it will no longer work and they will send us all a $10 gift certificate for Amazon to use for a different one of our choice. Seem the company that manufactured, and collected the info from them is going out of business. Just 2 months ago they told us, after a 10 period it wasn't working, that they were no longer selling them but it could be used as long as it still worked.

Well enough of this, everyone have a great day, keep warm.

Good morning! Itís a beautiful day here. It was 59ļ when I came to work. It will fall to freezing again this weekend, so weíre enjoying this while it lasts.

Kathryn, looks like youíre on top of your husbandís health. Youíre doing such a great job!

Irene, that is what weíre here for! Iím glad it helped. Sometimes we just get overwhelmed and need friends to help us get some perspective. Iím proud of you for resting when you need it. Itís important for us to listen to our bodies!

Wanda, the snow is at least helping you stay fit! Haha It warmed up so rapidly yesterday that I donít have to shovel any of what we got. Itís gone from all the concrete now. I hope we donít get a whole bunch of ice this weekend. Thatís so much worse.

Kathy, holy cow, that IS an expensive burger! I hope it was delicious at least! I am glad you got to see Donna, and I hope all works out for later visits and fun.
Sorry about your dental issues. Getting that all fixed will make you feel better, too. Incredible how much mouth problems make us feel bad!

Hello to everyone else! Y'all have a great day!

Good Morning Sparkies...

Happy Turesday!

My day went well yesterday. Got to see Donna. Haven't seen her in forever. Always good to catch up. She's in town at the Disney convention center and set up to sell their Hotel. She works for Lago Mar Hotel in Ft. Lauderdale for almost 30 years..
Anyway... we ate there at the hotel. ( the one the monorail goes right threw) Wow that was the most expensive burger I ever ate. $48 plus tip for 2 of us. Sheesh... I knew it would be expensive but wow. lol There is no other place right around there. It would have been a big pain to leave Disney property to find a cheaper place. Everything out that way is Disney Prices... Poor tourist. hehehe

Had a great time anyway and made plans for a possible cruise and also to get together at the beach house in March.
For those that don't know me... I'm in the black... hehehe

Now before we went to see Donna... I had a dentist appt. It was for a cleaning but I mentioned three teeth that are starting to bother me. Well I have to go next week for the first one, for a possible root canal... ugh... So looks like 2017 will be the year for Oxygen and dental work. emoticon

Matrix... the O2 people called today and got the order for the portable bottles. So they are bringing that today. I need to go to Walmart too. I may try to go early to get it over with. They are coming between 11 and 2.. So we'll see if I make it. hehehe

Irene - Thanks for posting the Tuesday challenge for us. I'm glad that you joined our group here. We all need to vent and it's always great to get some positive feedback that might even help us. You are right that you are still recovering from your breast cancer and need time still. So don't try to over do. Make your list and just do what you are able to do. There is always tomorrow to recheck that list... ((hugs))

Nancy - Nice to see you. Been missing you. Adapt is an excellent word. emoticon
Good luck to you...

Donna - Always nice to see you posting. Sounds like the Birthday party went well. Love the shirt. hehehe

Shirl - Hope that Clenton is feeling better today. glad you got him some cold med's. Love that you have so many times together with your family. Glad you enjoyed it. Hope you get to see DS next time he's in town.

Wanda - How's Garry feeling? Hope he's getting better so he can go be with his mom. Sending that Healing Fairy and lots of prayers for you all... emoticon

Kathryn - Hope things went well with your day. Sounds like it was a busy one. Hope DH is better today too. ((hugs))

Ok I'm off to ride the bike for a while and need to figure out how long I was walking yesterday into that hotel from the parking lot. I think it was a good 10 minutes. I was so out of breath (o2 was low) Had to keep stopping and catching my breath. Ok that is what I will record for yesterday. Now hoping to get 15 minutes on the bike... Wish me luck. lol And good luck to all of you on whatever you do today.

Sorry if I missed anyone today. Have a great day!

Good Morning everyone,

Still cold out and thankfully I don't have to shovel this morning as with wind chill it is minus 32.
Got in two sessions of shoveling snow yesterday, so did good on exercise as well as my walking *grin*.

Nancy...love your word for 2017...Adapt, it is such a great word for you with all the adapting that you are having to do. It's great when we can find ways to change our circumstances that work for us. Happy to see your post this morning.

Candi...Hope the snow shoveling is not too much for you. This Arctic front that we are experiencing seems to be effecting you also. I often have trouble shutting down my mind at bedtime and have found what works sometimes for me is just spending a few minutes of silently reviewing my day and being grateful for each thing that has happened. I try not to dwell long on each event, just let it come, thank the universe for the experience and then let it go. I'm not always successful as I'm just learning to do this but it might help you also. My bigger issue is staying asleep...I am a light sleeper and any noise wakes me up...carry over I guess from having little ones. Of course once I rouse up, nature calls and I have to get out of bed...so annoying *grin*. Hope you find some relief for your insomnia soon. Hugs.

Kathryn...great to have someone else checking things out for you with Ron's issue. Sounds like you have a good plan with the fruit. You are using so much common sense. Have a great day.

Kathy...thinking of you and your visit with your friend. Hope that you have a great time and that it won't be too much for you without the portable oxygen. Enjoy your time together.

Shirl...Keeping Dirk in my prayers that he is successful with the job. So many people needing work these days. Glad you were able to get together and share some family time. Keeping Joyce and Clenton in my prayers for quick recoveries. Stay warm and safe my dear friend. Hugs.

Irene...that is one of the great things about this team, you and voice a concern and there is always some good suggestions that come out of it. Some will work for you and others you adapt to fit your situation. Hope that you are finding a way to get things done by on your schedule not the lists schedule. Hugs.

Donna...HAHA...love the shirt. That is so my youngest daughter (at least her perception of things). So glad that Jim had a great time at his 50th and you also. Keeping you in my prayers for more work, seems to be a standard concern everywhere. Hugs.

Dot...did you find lots of treasures in your craft closet?

Sorry if I missed anyone, but wishing you all a great Tuesday. Keep on finding those positives.

Hugs,
Wanda

I love the positivity on here . Thank for listening to my insomniac chat and offering sensible advice. Which I am taking .
I had a very tired no energy morning yesterday . I just did basics and rested a lot. I am recovering still from cancer surgery and need to listen to my body. It did help and I did realise my plans were unrealistic , I am doing a daily list but not worrying if something carries over to the next day.
The .Tuesday Challenge was first on my list today after I had come onto Sp. I will follow my own suggestion of Time Out today,
Enjoy your day . Irene emoticon

Positive quote-The last years were practice and warm up, this year is game time!!!

Very busy day today with the home health nurse, the Pt gal and the home health aide coming out to give hubby a bed bath.. I talked with the nurse about hubby's problem and it might be because he is eating more fruit and veg than he did at the care home. Maybe it has over loaded his system. She also took a sample to our VA doctor to rule out C-Diff. She doesn't think that is what it is, but we need to rule it out. In the mean time the only fruit he gets is pears and bananas as they will firm you up. Doctor Mom has this in hand.
I am eating sensible today

Good morning! Yesterday was Jimís 50th birthday, so we had a nice, relaxing day, full of napping and whatever Jim wanted to eat. After the very successful party on Saturday night, it was welcome relief. We were out very late but had such a great time. Great group of about 20 people, all of whom brought snacks/appetizers. Everyone was in a festive mood and we just laughed the whole time!

As my friends are aware, I'm great at adding some awkwardness to almost every situation, so I also made everyone laugh with my new favorite shirt:

As much as weíre worrying about the business, time will tell, and life will go on, no matter what. One of my friends works for the state of Texas, and she gave us some suggestions for finding new clients that may help a lot. We just may have to expand on what we currently do, or at least find new ways to market ourselves. And if it doesnít work, Iíll find another job. It may not pay as well (not much does in this town), but weíll still be okay. Just gotta keep the faith! Thank yíall, though, for all the support and encouragement. It means a lot to me.

We had a couple of inches of snow on Friday, but it didnít get too nasty on the roads, etc., thankfully. It has just about melted away, except in yards and such.

Kathryn, Iím a big planner, too. It helps things go more smoothly if you can eliminate obstacles before you ever come to them! Youíre doing such a great job! (Both with your weight loss AND with your hubby!
I was glad to read about him having that success with his sliding board and staying in his chair for so long! That must have made him feel so good! I hope heís feeling better soon.
ďChoose well!Ē I love that, and itís been my mantra. I tell people who ask that I stopped doing ďsubtraction diets,Ē where I cut out certain foods you absolutely love completely, because those are immediately the foods I want most of all! Now I ďchoose well,Ē and I get to eat so much more food! Haha Iím all about more chow.

Candi, I wasnít going to put up a tree either, but Jim was adamant, so I did it for him. I had a lot of trouble enjoying the season in 2016. Hopefully this year will be better.
Bless you for taking such good care of your MIL. Youíll have a star in your crown Ė it sure isnít easy.
Iím very forgetful, too. I donít remember almost forgetting one of my children Ė but it could have happened and Iíve just forgotten. Haha!

Kathy, Iím SO glad your foot is doing better! I have tried meditation, and that helps, as do breathing techniques. I donít have much trouble falling asleep, itís just staying asleep sometimes that gets me.
Iím glad to hear you got your closet cleaned out! Man, thatís a chore. Happy the O2 is helping you. Give yourself time to adjust to wearing it and itíll become natural.
Love the cute photos! Thank you for sharing them.

Shirl, I sent up a quick prayer for Joyce that her time at Holt Rehab will be productive and that sheíll be able to kick the smoking. Sure isnít easy for most people! Good for her for committing to that.
That salad at Arbyís sounds good! Iíll have to try it sometime. Thereís actually an Arbyís in our town now.
Stay warm! Itís been cold here (not THAT cold of course), but will warm up this week. Then down again for the weekend and high chances of freezing precipitation. Thatís the thing with Texas weather. Yes, itís plenty hot in the summer. But winter brings such giant ups and downs! We have a projected high of 70ļ by Wednesday, then back down to mid-30s by the weekend. Itís no wonder people around here have such a difficult time staying well!

Wanda, it certainly shows that you enjoy your work. That sort of passion makes it so much easier to get up and out on those cold, cold days!
I hope Garry is better soon. Chest colds are just no fun Ė for anyone in the house! I hate to hear Kaeliís still feeling rough.
If you have any questions during the cheese making process, holler at me and weíll pick Jimís brain! It wasnít really very hard, just a little time consuming.

Irene, what a fun little outing with your DIL! So nice to get out and about, especially if thereís some yarn involved! Haha
I hope venting about your worries was helpful. It always seems to help me. Setting goals, especially such positive ones, is important, but we shouldnít let them rule our heads, especially to the point where we actually lose sleep over them. We should use them to give our days guidance, but not allow them to rule our lives. Wanda makes a great point about breaking them down into bite sized pieces! I hope you were able to get some sleep.

Dot, that closet under the stairs will be a treasure trove! Youíll find things youíve forgotten you even had. Just keep reminding yourself how much fun that part will be.

Nancy, youíve got this! Leslie Sansone has some awesome indoor walking videos. I have about half a dozen of them and theyíre really great!
We hope to see you more often, as well. I really enjoy your posts!

Hello and happy Monday to anyone else to pops by. Enjoy your day!

Happy Monday to all.

I am working on a routine here. Being out of my normal element makes it "interesting". My word for 2017 is ADAPT, so I am adapting to this situation. I am being patient with myself and making small changes every day. It's like putting my car in low gear to get a strong start. So far so good. The real challenge is not to get impatient. Phew! It's cold here, but no excuses. I just saw that Spark posted an indoor walking video. I no longer have the excuse that it's too cold to go outside for a walk. I can walk inside! I know that being active is key to controlling blood sugars. Absolutely necessary!

I hope to fit a daily visit into my routine so that I can get all caught up with the team.

Kathy, have fun at your lunch date.
Wanda, hope Gary gets well soon and prayers for his mom
Kathryn, sounds like you are ADAPTING to hubby being back home
Shirl, it's nice to have family around to share time and love with. Nice to see. And I hope Clenton gets better soon.

To the new members that I haven't met yet, I look forward to getting acquainted with you.

Donna and Mauri, I look forward to following your adventures in the New Year.

Blessings to all.

Good morning. We are going up into the upper 20's today, may get 1-3" of snow this evening, then Tuesday and Wednesday suppose to be in the 40's and rain.

If Clenton isn't doing better by Wed. can take him to urgent care at the Battle Creek VA as he has two back to back appointments there that morning, I did pick him up some cold medicine yesterday.

It sure was nice getting with the kids and A.J. yesterday. Dirk has to fax his application this morning and then hopefully he'll hear if he has the job or not, prayers for a positive outcome.

We didn't get with DS, he's back in FL, it just didn't work out for us to get together this time.

Wanda that is a great challenge this morning, I was planning on upping my exercise this week so that worked out really good. Got 30 min. on the bike and plan to get in an hour walk this afternoon. Prayers for MIL and all of you, such a difficult time. Hope Garry gets to feeling better. Glad you got a new Fitbit for Christmas.

Kathy hope your visit goes well with your friend, take some breaks when your walking. Hope it turns out you don't need a root canal.

Irene we can't do everything but we can do something, so each day just pick out something you really want to get done for that day. Sometimes we try and take on too much at a time. It's good you could come here and share your thoughts with us, that's what we are here for.

Kathryn hope all goes well at Ron's doctor's appointment. Glad you guys are in a safe spot.

Dot, Nancy, Donna, Mauri, Candi and anyone else who may stop by, have a marvelous Monday.

Hugs,
Shirl

Have not felt like sitting at this thing much the last couple of days, I don't believe I've had more then one full nights sleep since the new year, been up since 4:45 this morning. It gets this far and I can't function as I know I can. Oh well there are people out there with worse problems then insomnia.

Sounds like everyone has been busy, I'll try to get caught up on all the goings on when I can see straight if that ever happens. Until then everyone be safe and warm out there.

Good Morning Sparkies...

I'm meeting a friend I have not seen in years at Disney's Hotel for Lunch. She is here for a meeting of some sort and asked us to come by since she is in town. So meeting her at Disney will mean lots of walking today. Praying that I will make it through the day.Even with handicap parking there will still be lots of walking. I have no portable o2 bottles so will be an interesting day. But I will just say that emoticon

I also have a Dentist appt before that. Just a cleaning BUT... I have to tell them about a tooth that is hurting when I eat anything hot. Thinking that may need a root canal. No fun. But we shall see. lol

Wanda - Happy shoveling to you and Garry. Hope he gets to feeling better so he can go be with MIL. I too hate that she is alone. Prayers for her and all of you too. Sounds like your Christmas went well. Yay on your needed gifts. That is the best when that happens.
I really wanted/needed the DeeBot Vacuum that comes on and vac's that house daily all by itself. I posted it on FB for Santa and Yay I got it and I love it. With Ozzy... he runs in and out so much and sheds so much that it's hard to keep up. Well my little bot takes care of it for me daily now. hehehe I love this thing. lol ((hugs))

Shirl - Enjoy your time out with the kids today. Sounds like fun. I'm so enjoying my time with Rachael and the others. Hope that Clenton gets to feeling better. This cold I've had is no fun and it's taking a while to get rid of it. I've over the worst of it but hate when they just linger. ((hugs))

Irene - I feel for you and hope that you got some rest after getting your thoughts down here. That is the best way to get them off your mind. I've been known to do the same thing. But have learned to practice deep breathing/ meditation and not taking on too much. Write down what you want to accomplish and then like Wanda said... just take on one thing and enjoy that feeling of accomplishment. Then go on to another thing. It's ok if you don't get it all done. It's on that list and you will get to it sooner or later. Or not... Just don't try to do it all at once. ((hugs))

Kathryn - Hope that Ron gets to feeling better by the time you have to take him out again. I saw that you were getting lots of rain. It's great that you are so help with the drought... but not good when you have to take Ron out in it... ((hugs))

Hello to all that may stop in...

I need to head to the shower and get this day going. Trying not to be negative about it... It's going to be a long hard day... But emoticon

Good Morning all,

It's a balmy minus 22 this morning and it looks like I have a wee bit of shoveling to do before heading to work this morning.

Irene... hope you were able to get some sleep after all. Nothing more frustrating than a mind that just won't shut down. Good for you for getting it written down and then moving on. You sound like you have a great plan for this coming year, maybe what might help is to just set yourself one goal for each day and at the end of the day you can claim success that you achieved it. For me, it always helps to break my bigger goals down into more bite sized pieces at least I feel like I am moving forward then. Hope you have a great day.

Kathryn...hope Ron feels better soon and that when you head out to his appointment the weather holds for you. You are so right at how much the rain is needed, just not all at once!

Shirl...what a nice treat to be getting together with your kids and having lunch out. Hope Clenton recovers quickly from this cold that seems to be making it's way around. Thinking of you. Hugs.

Kathy, Dot, Candi, Donna, Nancy and Mauri...Happy Monday! Hope you have a great day.

I'm off to do some shoveling before I get out of the garage for work.

Hugs,
Wanda

An insomniac chat. I am thinking aloud really passing my thoughts into you.
Last year was a dreadful year for me I won't go into details as I want to move on, so at the start of this year I had aims and plans to do so much .
Only 9 days into January I am worrying I can't do all I want, it's keeping me awake at night now.
I do craft work and had plans to finish long started projects, take on more. Make my own greeting cards , knit for charity and other plans
I wanted to make all my own meals , exercise more , keep in touch with friends , oh I am sure you can see what I mean,
I hate being negative and worrying about things I didn't do , I want to enjoy what I do ,and not fret over it. I have to be realistic so need to accept I am not Wonder Woman . There's no way of stretching the day . Losing sleep over it only means I can't do so much the next day ,
So after writing it down ,passing it on to you I think I can see what I must do and start with getting some sleep now . Irene
