Yesterday I was AF and woke at my usual 4:45am to be to work for 6:45am. worked until 4pm, then stopped at the DR clinic on the way home, got home at 6pm, had a quick supper and watched the news and went to bed/sleep by 8pm!!! Had a great sleep, and back at the routine again today.
I love the clear head from being AF! (or even MOD)

Brenda

Took a 3 mile walk with the dog at 6:15am
worked my regular job, 8-330
worked my additional assignment 3:30-5:00
shopped for a few things my daughter need at the department store
did light grocery shopping
prepared chili for dinner, only to find out it had to simmer for 1.5 hours, so then made something else for tonight's dinner and will have the chili tomorrow as leftover.
prepared breakfast and lunch for tomorrow
sitting and exploring sparkpeople!
yeah for being AF!

I did SO MUCH today, I am amazed!
Ran 6 miles with my running partner
cleaned my room, cleaned my bathroom, washed the dog's bed and our sheets, vacuumed the whole downstairs, mopped the kitchen and dinning room floors, grocery shopped at two different stores made cookies for my son's birthday, wrapped his birthday presents.
I would have visited my mother-in-law in the rehab, (she had knee replacement) but I locked my keys in the trunk of the car!!!!

I would not have been able to accomplish all of that if I had been in a fog form drinking!

I haven't posted here in a while and feel the need to because while it feels like I didn't get much done (that is what I planned to do over the weekend - i.e. pack lol)...

Today I walked 6.27 miles and burned over 600 calories. During one of my walk I caught up with a SP friend and then we went 'window' shopping for furniture (I need a new couch/loveseat and dining room table) and did some shopping at Walmart and Metro (to make more of my fat flush soup which I did when I came home). The pineapple was on sale so I bought and cut it up.

I cleaned out my car (vacuum and windex windows)

I drove my daughter to where she was babysitting and then took my youngest out to buy some cover up/lip gloss and then we went to dinner together at a restaurant

I folded some laundry and tidied up my room

I took care of some paperwork

I am now winding down for the day and sparking and will blog... A beautiful sunny AF day because... I don't drink!!

I worked out and didn't crave any starchy carbs. My granddaughter and my daughter made a batch of cookies last night that are sitting on my table-if I had a drink or 2 they'd be half gone!!!!!

Sounds like a nice night NKING1982.

I'm going strong - AF for 26 days and the thing that I find is just ALL that I get accomplished and how my focus has shifted from debating the issue about having drinks to debating what activity or project I'll tackle next.

Well not quite AF but.....I was going to stay at home and have a few beers but I drank maybe half of one and quit for the night. Instead I went on a nice motorcycle ride with my husband, sister and brother. It was very relaxing and since we didn't get back until late, I had a little snack and went to bed.

Day 11 in a row AF and the things I'm keeping busy with or exploring are things I've talked about doing for ages... but instead I used to sit and drink and talk ... now I'm actually moving forward with some of my ideas!

The time I wasted on those drinking days... no more! If I ever drink again, it will only be for 'real' special occasions.

I have been AF - day 7 now completed and for the long weekend since I didn't have any real plans other than hanging out with my 16 year old - I made myself a to do list and as of tonight almost all of it is crossed off - things are getting DONE!!!

I have resolved that since I'll be AF for some time that I will make myself a daily to do list and along with the victory of completing this 100 day AF challenge - I'll have accomplished so much in other areas of my life too!

I was AF last night and...

...I woke up without a hangover.
...I got up and ran 4 miles.
...I'm not craving greasy junk food.
...I had energy to clean the kitchen.
...I weighed in this morning lower than I've been in over a year.
...this afternoon I'm going rock-climbing.
...I look cute and feel great!

I was to meet my friend at 4 today and he texted to say he had to work till 6. In the past this would set me off to say - oh well may as well have a drink since I'm not getting my treat... but I remained AF and he texted again and said he could meet me at 6:15. There are so many opportunities I let pass by because I was drinking and unable to go out to meet someone or do something. I was AF today and I got to see my friend and it made me feel much better than any drink ever could have!

It's Cinco de Mayo and every other year was an excuse to drink margaritas - which are my favorite - but today I'm AF and happy about it. I got a lot done today including cleaning the bathroom and cleaning the refrigerator. I drank the first few days of the Month of May and was upset with myself. I listened to Joel Osteen like every Sunday and he really helped me, giving me renewed confidence that I can remain AF (with God's help).

I'm with you LASARRE... Stayed AF and...

- did my morning workout 50mins total
- cleaning out part of my room/clothes
- car washed inside and out
- groceries and odds and ends
- ending the day with my meditation and aiming for another great night's rest

This AF night is really a big one for me in that I'm alone in the house and could go out and have drinks but much rather enjoy this feeling I am experiencing right now - and I know I'll be happy when I get on the scale tomorrow morning.

I too have finished day 5 AF and tonight was especially challenging with the girls' attitudes. Once one left the younger one went to her room. When I checked in on her she was starring out the window and when I asked her why she wasn't out - she said she had no friends (which isn't true but nonetheless)...

So I asked her if she wanted to go for a walk with me by the river and that's what we did.

I then came back, soaked in the tub, put foot creme on and did my night time routine and it's only 9:30 and I'm calling it a night. I know I will feel great about this tomorrow ... because while the temptation was really strong - my will for the 'shrink' over the 'drink' prevailed!! emoticon

I was AF the past 2 days and looking forward to day 3. My first two days were a bit tough as I am dealing with a lot of emotions in the house - and sleep is not great. Hoping that with a few more AF days my sleeping patterns will be reset.

Today is the last day of the month, and the last day of my stress leave as we go to the appointment at 9am.

I was AF yesterday and I will be today... because there are more pressing and important things to tend to in life than sitting down on my butt and mindlessly having a drink.

I was AF and got through another 'tough' day ...

I worked out Day 1 of my new program with 5 Factor Fitness
I walked by the river for 50mins
I was in bed early and slept soundly and woke on my own just after 4am (sleeping in for me as my normal time is 3:30am)

I am off on stress leave this week but plan on making the most of it in the healthiest way - and stay AF!

I am out of milk. This happens often and is a serious issue at my house which necessitates a run to the store. I don't like Walmart, but I'm underemployed. I'd prefer Whole Foods, except for their CEO (and prices). So, I will go to the local Walmart but instead of buying a $1.98 bottle of Cabernet with the milk I will buy some sparkling water, Perrier maybe, to have while I read at night instead. I completely enjoy sipping on a drink before I go to sleep and don't want to miss out on the ritual. I should read the stack of InStyle magazines from the last two years that are stacked up and start to dress better.

It is a sad sight to think of me driving to Walmart for a $1.97 bottle of wine in my fat clothes and car with missing hubcaps. lol, sad but true but not true tonight! Only partially true, 2 out of 3.

I probably should do something about the hubcaps soon. Replacing them would probably make me feel better. However, it helps me to find my car in the parking lot since I have a popular car, that's my excuse, actually this is true.

I was AF on Monday and I...

...did not overeat at dinner or snack later on in the evening
...read half of a cooking a magazine with improved comprehension
...watched a TV show that requires paying attention to the plot (not like watching sports or news where you can drift in and out no matter what your clarify of mind might be)
...got a great night's sleep

I'm like you PADAWAN60 - there's that lag time when I have everything done and I'm alone and looking for something to do... and while it's nice to occasionally sit and have drinks, veg - my problem is one night turns into 2 and 3...

The other thing I find is that when I'm AF - I do a lot to a point of exhaustion sometimes because I keep seeing things to do ... I finish one project and already have the next one in mind and it gets discouraging. I have to remind myself - one thing at a time.

Being AF over the weekend allowed me to try new recipes, read, de-clutter, along with the regular household stuff.

It's the de-cluttering and discovering all the 'stuff' I have here that are resources that I often buy - put aside and forget I have. With all the extra time being AF I can now pull out the stuff and use it!!

Finishing my 8th day AF in a row and today I did 120mins of activity. Got my first walk of the year in by the river (even though there's ice on the river still - the paths are clear for walking now). It's been a great day. With a few hours left - going to maybe soak in the tub and read some more of my book.

I just stumbled onto this thread and think it's a good one -- I'm glad it was recently resurrected!

I think it's safe to say that an AF day is one in which we have a lot more energy for other, much more productive things than reaching for a glass (or two, or three, or four) of empty calories. One of my challenges is that I am not an overly busy or social person, and I don't always know what to do with that increased energy when I have it. I think that's one of the reasons I often end up drinking wine in the late afternoon/early evening when the main business of the day is done -- it dulls that excess energy so I am less hyper-aware of having four or six hours still ahead of me that need filling before bedtime. Intellectually, it sounds so easy to cure: hey, just pick up a good book rather than a glass of wine... just walk around the block rather than walk over to the fridge. OK, so how come things are never as quite easy as they sound...?! ;)

Wow - I had not posted since 2011 on here... and I think it's high time to get myself back into this practice.

I was AF yesterday and was able to:
- pick up my stepdaughter and go shopping for the new recipes we made
- drive my oldest to and from work
- pick up my youngest from her friend's (this was not expected and normally I would have had drinks by the time she asked me and it would have been an issue but NOT yesterday :)
- swept/swiffered all the main floors
- dusted on the main floor
- did one load of laundry
- lost 1lb since Friday's weigh in

I was AF from Monday to Thursday and I lost 4lbs (some of which was the gain from my indulgences of the previous weekend).

I also organized the girls with a chores schedule and learning to maximize my time as I juggle 2 jobs.

I am sleeping so much better and feeling lighter... No doubt about it - avoiding alchohol will help me lose weight.

Yesterday I was AF and I:

Ran 3.5 miles
Cleaned my bathroom, really scrubbed the shower stall (yuck)
Cleaned out 1/2 my closet, organized my winter shoes
Washed, dried and folded a load of laundry

I have a full time job and usually don't get home until around 5 and some nights even later when I have to pick my son up from his job. So the few hours I have after dinner are precious, sometimes I feel like just relaxing with a cup of tea and others I feel motivated to tackle my chores. Either way, it is easier when I don't have wine!

Enjoy the day!

AF today and got loads done...

1 - fasted until my physical and bloodwork was completed (will blog about that 'fun' experience tomorrow morning)
2 - prepared my soup and meal for the kids dinner
3 - did some cleaning (swept and washed kitchen floor & entrance)
4 - got in about 75 mins of walking
5 - ate within my calorie range
6 - prepared a chores list for myself and the girls - discussed it with them and posted it on the fridge (and they're already doing things without being prompted)
7 - going to bed feeling great about all I accomplished!!

Screwd up. Was planning to be AF last nite , had a glass and 1/2 of wine. Drank all weekend, my 6oth. On Sun company, sipped wine, too much bread, I,m going hi-pro for a few. Don,t know why I goofed up last nite, it was in my mind not too drink anything. But had a glass with dinner. Husband was worried on how we were gonna pay the rent! Stress! His money came thru, not all of it tho. They cut his pay bad. I,m still doing bodybuilding tho! Cherie

Glad you found it (and I'll add the link to your other note so others can find it too)...

This thread allows for us to focus on the positive without obsessing over counts...

I was AF yesterday and ...
1. stayed within my calorie range
2. had a good night's rest (had insomnia the night before after 3 days of drinking)
3. feel much better already!

I knew there was a discussion like this! I think it is a great alternative for those of us who find that posting everyday to the challenge discussion can be a bit too much.
So here goes....
I was AF last night and I:
1. walked the dog
2. made banana bread
3. nearly finished reading the mystery novel I am reading

I was AF last nite, feel great today! I,m really working to change my mind set about the empty sugar calories in the evenings! It spikes the insulin and turns to fat while we are sleeping. No wonder its taking me so long to lose weight! We had a lot to drink over the weekend, felt crappy yesterday. I like feeling good. Right now , I,ve been having wine 5 out of 7 nites a wk, not good! I really didn,t think I was doing anything different, but I figured a lot of people do that. I guess I was wrong, well for me anyway. I plan on having a good work-out today! Cherie

Last week I was AF and I did:
Write the insurance company and told them they were nuts
At last got automatic payment working for internet, electricity
Claimed missing miles with two bonus programs, got name corrected and changed addreses. Enrolled in 3 more bonus programs (Why is the not just ONE that does ALL the planes you have to take when travelling for business?)
At last convinced my community office that I was not crazy, the guy that could not figure out where the water was coming from was incompetent, but I needed him back anyway.... Well he found the leak, and 12 hours later with new kitchen floor AND 2 new bathroom floors (because the vinyl has to match!!) I at last could use the dishwasher again. I got my new car registered and got licence plates. I got automatic sallery deposit. I refilled my gophone, added money to skype, changed a whole bunch of passwords on mailaccounts, planned the next 3 business trips, smashed my hand severely on rollerblades, AND managed to catch up with spark - and lost 4 kg´s since I arrived here in January.
Oh year - and went to work each day before 8 and returned after 8 pm. And bought 2 lamps, 3 bookshelves, assembled it all, got a vaccuumcleaner, washed clothes AND found time for 4 hours alltogehter in the sun as opening my door to the balcony lets the sun come into the living room,........ there on the middle of the floor, out of eyesight of anyone ..........., naked on the floor, in the sun, getting a tan
Now soon off on business trip again. Hopefully it will get easier and easier to walk past all that free booze.
So this just to remind me of my actual output whenever there is less liquid input!! emoticon emoticon

Yesterday I was AF and I ...
Went to the gym and did a 60 min step-aerobics class;
Completed my "future map";
Read alot of inspirational quotes and success stories;
Walked the dog;
Made a yummy dinner and sat with my family at the dining room table to eat it;
Watched a bit of telly with hubby and went to bed before 10pm.
Congratulated myself and really enjoyed waking up this morning without a headache.

DXTREME45's comment of hearing "buy more beer" struck a chord! I'll be driving home from work and I start to think about an evening cocktail. Reassuring to know that someone else hears the chant. I have noticed that if I make it till 8:00 pm, my temptation is usually gone.

Mad at myself as I was not AF last nite. If I am not AF, it seems that I am never MOD, but straight to DD. My off switch doesn't work well. So, I woke feeling quite wonky. And after two diet cokes and my healthy breakfast, I then stopped for a big bagel. I will be AF today. Not sure why it is so hard...

DXTREME, if you're anything like me, it almost seems like more of an accomplishment to stay AF if there's alcohol in the house. *lol*

Today I was AF and I:

1. Exercised for 23 minutes this morning
2. Made sourdough biscuits from scratch (used my own starter that I began last week)
3. Went to the grocery store with Grandma and Audrey and picked up a few things I couldn't get yesterday
4. Read 2 more chapters for my Food Theory class (almost done the Sanitation component)
5. Exercised for another 45 minutes (man! I LOVE Gold's Gym!!!)
6. Made a really yummy dinner and did all my dishes

Tonight makes 3 nights that I've been AF, and that's with 5 beers in the refrigerator. The latter is somewhat of a challenge to me to see if I can go AF with beer within my grasp.

The crazy part is that on the way home, those lil demons were in my ear again whispering, "buy some beer, buy some beer," when I stopped for gas. I would have been damned mad if I had listened to the lil demons and then got home and saw I had beer in the fridge.

As REMULLINS said, I woke up without a headache, got to work on time, did 26 minutes ST and ate healthy. I've also gone to bed without eating after 8 pm.

I am AF again today and so far I have done 50 minutes of ST and then spent the rest of my day working on the Sanitation and Food Safety portion of my Food Theory course. Reading about all these potential foodborne illnesses is making me feel a bit queasy. *lol* I'm going to finish my notes on Chapter 2 and then I'll do 30 minutes of cardio, just to rest my brain. Then it's back to the Food Safety stuff, since I have a Unit Test tomorrow.

Haha DXtreme, I've had AF days like that.

Today I went grocery shopping, went to the library, exercised, tried a new kind of rice for dinner, read.

I'm AF today cause I don't wanna. Is that explanation enough? I just don't wanna.

I wasn't totally AF this past weekend, but three drinks over three days was a HUGE success for me! As a result, I:

- ran 6 miles
- lifted weights for an hour
- went to three hours of yoga
- played two hours of racquetball
- did ALL my laundry
- cleaned my kitchen
- ran ALL my errands
- finally changed all the burned-out lights in my apartment
- went to two kickboxing classes
- danced my butt off at a show (while sober!)
- finished another personal statement for grad school applications!

I have been AF for 15 days in a row and the result means I can DO MORE with my kids!

I am able to drive them to visit friends, do activities with them unlike the former days of having drinks and not feeling like doing anything (or even wanting any of their friends over)...

I'm happy to make today THEIR day!!
