I spent the entire day at home relaxing (being lazy) and loved it. Tomorrow will be a different story.

Good Morning Lovelies!

I'm off to a Bible study group and then some window shopping with the ladies. Not sure where we're headed as one wants to go to a all natural, whole grain bakery they heard about that is in the country about 40 miles from here. The other suggestion is a mall in Chattanooga, TN. Just getting out of the house while the weather is still beautiful.

Morning all. Another day for running errands and working on projects at home. I love these days of no stress and a feeling of accomplishment even if what I did was not huge.

Hi Everyone!

We are still living in a winter dunderland (not a misspelling). I thought it was supposed to warm up enough yesterday to melt it all away, but not so.

I was very productive this weekend and got a lot of things done. I planned to do even more yesterday afternoon, but Hana has decided to attend the homecoming dance next weekend and needed a dress. We spent the afternoon shopping. We had a good time, found everything we needed and got a great deal in the process.

My allergies are going nuts both yesterday and this morning. I never really was bothered much by allergies until this year. I have heard that all the rain we had has caused problems for people with mold allergies so I guess that is what I have. I feel like all I do is sneeze and blow my poor sore nose.

I have a work meeting this morning after I drive Hana to school. This is homecoming week and the kids are wearing strange outfits all week long. Today is costume day and she is a Greek/Roman goddess. We bought a white sheet, some gold ribbon and a bough of greenery and we were done!

Have a fabulous and healthy day!

Jen

Hi All! I am winding down from the weekend and trying to get through my email before heading off to bed. I've got a busy fitness day at the gardens tomorrow so I got to get up early for a change.

The party last night was good. I got to get caught up with my friend and all her sisters (she has 8 brothers and sisters so I was close to most of them while we were growing up.) It was strange not having her mom there. Her mom died last November of Stage 4 Lung Cancer. It was caught much later than my mom's so there wasn't much they could do. She died in November and was only diagnosed in September. Still, it was nice to see everyone having a good time and moving on. They were encouraged that my mom is still fighting the Big C and doing well.

My abs are pretty sore today from the RIPPED class I had Saturday. My instructor is going to try and get a Tuesday class going this week so I might get in shape yet!

Have a great start to the work week everyone! Glad you East coasters made it through the snow storm. We haven't had snow yet, but they say flurries and a mix by Friday so I know it is coming. Try and get some workouts in and stay warm!

And a big emoticon emoticon emoticon jobs done to our emoticon past leaders. emoticon to you all, and thanks for making me feel at home here in a short time!

How about the snow we had??? We really didn't get as much as mid state. Went to see my mom today and took over an Hr, usually 35 min. Many roads were closed due to trees and lines down. Mom was on generator but no phone. Guess they will be dealing w/ this mess for the next few days.

Hope to hop on the exercise routine again tomorrow. Have a great eve all!!! emoticon

Hi Everyone!

We survived our east coast October blizzard yesterday. How strange is that? I holed up in the house and went on a massive cleaning binge! The house looks great and I feel ready to begin a new week.

I am so excited about our new leaders and am eager to participate in new challenges and threads. I hope that everyone will stay involved and supportive of them.

I need to go get in a workout before another busy day begins!

Morning all. I am ready for Church and have prepared two dishes to take for the luncheon after Church. I am dressed and ready. There is a hard frost on the grass this morning and the Canadian geese are sitting down by the lake and squabbling over the best spot on the grass.

Karen, I have great sympathy for you and those who are in the middle of this Winter snow storm. The 80’s and 90’s are good temperatures for me.

Cheryl, I have to agree with you. This is a very special team. I have gotten the best advice, support, and motivation from those here.

Janet, having friends that you can fall right back into such a comfortable relationship is a wonderful and rare thing. Hope you got a good nap.

I am calling it a day and wishing everyone a great Sunday. I may check in before I head to Church, but for sure after Church

Nite, Nite!

Hi Team! Sorry I didn't get a chance to post last night. I decided that I had a little time right now while Dad is out cutting wood with the kids. I had Zumba toning and a RIPPED session for an hour afterwards. I'm really beat now and want to get a nap in before they come in for dinner.

My best friend from high school is having a Halloween party with her family tonight. I don't get to see or talk to her much since we are on different schedules and she is raising kids. I think the last time I saw her was back in April at a funeral visitation. I'm looking forward to the party. She had called to extend the invite and mentioned we need to schedule days to meet or talk in advance so it doesn't take a funeral to see each other. I agree and I'm glad she's willing to keep our friendship strong. We used to see each other quite often.

I'd better get going if I'm going to get a nap in first. I'll check in again tomorrow. I also want to thank our new leaders and will check out the new challenges. Take care and enjoy the rest of your weekend!

I will be glad to help/co-lead/whatever with the group. I am not a game person, but certainly can welcome, encourage and try to create interesting conversations. What do I need to do now that I have agreed to help?

Hi team and TGIF! Only a few more hours and it's home to finish getting ready for my bus trip and I have Monday off. The bus trip should be interesting as they are now calling for up to 8 inches of snow in the Philly area and we are headed to Ocean City, MD so we have to go right past there. It depends on which news agency you listen to as to how much in my area of Central PA. One says 1.6 and another says 3 to 5. Big difference. I'd settle for NONE. Anyways, I catch the bus at 5am and won't get home until late Sunday night. Hopefully I can sleep in a little on Monday, if no one makes too much noise when they get up to go to work or school.

Kind of slow here for a Friday and it's the last Friday of the month. We're usually busier. Maybe when people start getting off work it will pick up.

If all goes well, DS and family are planning to move around the 11th of Nov. Fingers crossed. Love them, but it's time to move on now so we can have our house back.

Happy Halloween everyone.

Jen-Those state parks sound lovely. Maybe I can get there one day. I always wondered where you came up with your name. Now I know.

Hi Team!

I had a good day at work, except for the call that one of our homes was being raided by the police. Apparently a staff person decided it was a good idea to have drugs shipped by UPS to our house in the middle of the day. Yesterday she showed up to receive her delivery and the UPS driver was an undercover cop. The police surrounded her and arrested her on the spot. Then they searched our house. Fortunately, there was nothing inside except another terrified staff person and one of our residents (who was mildly amused by the whole thing). I sure live a crazy existence with my work!

Karen, About 20 years ago, when my sons were little (2nd one way a baby) and we were a young broke couple, I went searching for an inexpensive vacation place. What I found was Watoga State Park in W VA (notice the name!!!) It was a gorgeous location with a lake, mountains, hiking trails, streams everywhere, a pool, riding stables, a river on the edge of the park, etc. We loved it completely! We checked out the whole park and selected our favorite cabin (most privacy and with a stream running beside it for the kids to play in) and we began going for 2 weeks every year. We did that until the kids were teens and wanting something new. During that time we explored lots of that area of W VA. There are numerous state and national parks in that area and absolutely gorgeous scenery. Watoga cabins have electricity and running water. Now when my friend, Nora, and I go we go to Seneca or Kumbrabow parks where there are pioneer cabins. This time we went outside the park to the Monongahela National Forest to hike. Like all of that area, it was incredible!

I have lots to do today and want a good workout as I got none at all yesterday. Gotta run!

Have a healthy day!

Jen emoticon

emoticon all,

Could old man winter be around the corner? Predictions of snow on Sat. I am not ready for that! Tonight we are expected to get a freeze. Hope not, I didn't get all my plants in. emoticon

Jen hope your day wasn't too long. BTW, love your pics of your hiking adventure. How did you find that place? A real winner at that!

Donna, emoticon emoticon on you 1.5!!! Soups and chilis, I sure wish you lived closer!!!

Mauitn, it's so nice when you have a bunch of active women close by, I'd love to hook up w/ a group to hike, walk, run or even lift weights. Everyone in our neighbor hood either has kids or are working. A big yum on your chili, too! This cooler weather has changed my taste buds!

Sally, glad you got to walk your dog, even if for a short time. It all counts!!! emoticon

Shannon, glad you are having a great time. Miss you around here!

Spent the day w/ my mom, a usual Thursday, except her roommate was moved to assisted living. They have been together for almost a year. Many tears were shed. Mom is quite anxious about her new roomie, I guess I'll get an earful tomorrow. Speaking of tomorrow, I hope the sun shines. Having someone come over to give an estimate on taking out trees and bushes. Guess that's our xmas present this year. But looking forward to replanting the front of our house in the spring. It's amazing after 25 years how things outgrow the house! Have to light the grill and get dinner going. Hope everyone is staying warm. Be healthy! emoticon

Donna, congratulations on the pound and a half. I just finished a pot of chili and it was so good. Warm and filling.

The rain has started here so I am snug at home sipping on a cup of tea and checking my computer between bouts of laundry, putting up the Summer clothes and bagging other clothes for give away.

Good afternoon everyone. It's rainy and chilly today. Started out in the 50's but has now dropped into the low 40's and we may have flurries mixed in later. Brrr! Everything should be done by 7 this evening before another round moves in for Saturday. Sure glad I'm not going to be the one driving the bus. Sunday should be great weather.

I did get some of my clothes changed last night. Have to work on some more tonight. I also have to start getting a suitcase packed. I have a big crock of chili on so supper will be quick. Can't wait, I've been so hungry for it.

I guess I didn't mention it yesterday, but I lost 1 1/2 pounds at TOPS Tuesday night. YAY! I'm back in leeway with a little breathing room. Now to keep it off. With this bus trip it will be hard. Good I don't have to weigh in next week. I have a Christmas party. Oh, that's something else I did last night, I got that gift ready to go for my secret pal. I also have to get cards ready by then. Good I have Monday off.

Not very busy at the bank today. I could use a nap.

Guess that's it for now. Have a great day everyone.

GNAB-Glad you're back.

My ladies hiking group got in a short hike this morning. The rain is moving in later this afternoon and tomorrow. The colors were beautiful. I feel good for the exercise and now I need to concentrate on some home chores.

I also talked to the men doing the landscaping at the house next to ours and they are going to give me some ideas and costs for some additional work in my yard.

I really need to buckle down with the exercise the rest of this week. I feel better after I exercise so I don't understand why it is so hard to make my self do it the first thing in the morning and get it over with.

Hey gang!! A quick hello from Peoria, IL. I'm LOVING my trip here and am in love with Autumn!! I've taken some amazing pics and have had some beautiful scenery to hike, run and walk in. It's truly breath taking!!
emoticon
Wrapping up week 8 of my running training. I am stretching it an additional week since my race isn't until 11/6. It's going well. I'm a 'proud penguin' for sure!!

I'm eating pretty well and having fun making some new friends here. My enthusiasm for exercise has been contagious and I've got a few people here on the band wagon. YAY!! A few more sparkers along for the ride!

I go back home on Friday night and then have a busy weekend working in the hospital. Learning the new job is going well. It's been pretty chaotic but I have been learning things too. I've got another 3 weeks of orientation so I think I'll be up and independent soon.

Listen gang. I have to run. It's after midnight here in IL. Have a great rest of the week!

Hi Team! It has been unbearably boring at work, but busy at home trying to get some fall projects done, especially since I was gone over the weekend. We've got my youngest niece and my nephew coming to stay with us Friday and Saturday after my nephew's play tomorrow night. I've got to straighten things up in my room so the 5 year old doesn't get into things. She kind of takes ownership of my room when they visit since I've got my great Disney DVD collection there!

I'm trying to get my wardrobe changed over, too. And like Karen, since we burn wood I know just what she means about being hot in the house. It is currently 75 F in my room and I'm sitting here in shorts and a t-shirt. It is in the 40s outside and should get down in the 30s tonight. We've been having that damp cool weather for the past few days. It is really starting to feel like November which is just around the corner. The days are also getting really short. I have to hustle home in the evenings just to get my walk in with my dog. The plus side is that we've been able to see some deer in the twilight hours.

I'm not sure I'll be able to post tomorrow, but I'll try and log on Friday night to check in.

Sally - Sorry for your loss.

Donna - Good luck at TOPS!

Jen - Glad you didn't look like a bear! I've been wearing an orange vest on our walks even though it is only bow season. You just never know what those hunters see!

Karen - Hope you are able to keep cool in the house this winter. At least wood heats you twice! We're going to have to cut more soon.

Hope everyone else is doing great. Keep on the healthy track!

emoticon evening all,

Checking in late today. Had to take advantage of the weather and get more yard work done.

Jen, missed you, your time away sounded awesome! Besides that, I'm sure you burned mega calories and had fun doing it! Glad you had a great time!

Donna, I hate switching from summer clothes to winter. We burn a wood stove and wear shorts most of the winter in our house. The neighbors think we're crazy when we open our window in the middle of winter. Looking forward to some pics!!!

Looks like rain tomorrow and cooler weather settling in. Hope everyone is catching a great evening!

Hi everyone. Not much going on at work today. I'll get out of here at 1:15 then it's off to the grocery store. I have a whole list to get.

Tonight I think I'm going to start to change my clothes around for winter and put the summer stuff away. Then I need to start to gather things to pack for this weekend.

Later

Jen-Welcome back. Glad you had such a nice time and wow at all the miles you put in. I never did think you looked like a bear. LOL! I'll try to figure out how to post a couple of the pictures one of these days and let you know. Some of the pics I had to walk a little bit to get them but others were right along the road and around houses. Very COOL!!

Hi Team!

I am back after a fabulous hiking trip! The weather was near perfect, though our Monday hike was cut short due to rain. We hiked 9.5 miles on Sunday and 6.5 on Monday. It was beautiful. Aside from the short rain we had, the only down side was that it turned out to be bear hunting season in W VA. Before hiking on Sunday, we had to find a store where we could buy bright orange vests to wear to distinguish us from the bears!

Sally, I'm so sorry to hear about your father-in-law. Was this unexpected? How is your husband doing?

Donna, You elk adventure sounds great! I would love to see them. Did you see them all while driving or did you have to hike in to the area?

Janet, WTG with all that exercise! Glad you got to escape this weekend!

Karen, I'm glad you got away to the beach for a break!

Have a super day! emoticon

Morning all. I'll take all the days like today also. In fact it could stay like this til spring then get really nice. I know that's not going to happen with the weather they are predicting for Thursday through Sunday but it would be nice.

The Pres & CEO are coming for a meeting at work today after we close so I have that meeting then TOPS. I need to lose 1/4 pound to get back in leeway. I sure hope I make it. I think I'm alright but I've thought that before only to post a gain. We shall see and I'll let you all know tomorrow.

Gotta run to lunch. Later.

It's a beauty of a day today in So. PA. Got my run in and now I have to go up to visit my mom. Hope to make it home before it's dark. Yesterday spent the day cleaning up my gardens and pruning my berry bushes. I sure could use another day or two like today. Hope everyone stays on track and enjoys the day!

Hey gang. A busy weekend for sure. Fri & Sat nights were helping with the hayride. We didn't go on it this year. I'm not into Halloween and would rather not get scared out of the wits I have left. We sold a lot of soup Fri night, not so much on Sat but we did sell a lot of Hot chocolate both nights, especially Sat.

Yesterday I had a budget meeting at church then after church, we went for another drive to see foliage and we went to see the elk up in Elk county, PA. We were not dissapointed. We must have seen over 100, mostly cows and calves but a few bulls too. One bull someone said was a 7X7. He was huge. It was really thrilling. We didn't get back home until 7:30pm. It was such a great day. One word to the wise, though when going on those type of adventures, don't wear slide on shoes, otherwise known as Mules.

Sally, sending thoughts and prayers your way.

Jen, hope you are having a great time!

Donna, hope you chase that cold away. How was your hayride? And that soup??? Nothing like a hot bowl of soup on a cool autumn evening! Yum!

Janet, wow I can't believe how many cals Zumba burns. That is so amazing. I want so bad to try a class. One of these days. How are your knees doing? Do you do any strength exercises for them? that sure helped me after I had my surgery. In fact,I think if I had strengthened my quads and hammies, prior, I wouldn't have needed surgery. Sure hope they are feeling better.

Tomeka, how's that pretty baby doing? Happy belated Anni!!!!

Haven't been around for awhile, this has got to be the most hectic month for me yet! Can't believe we have one more week left, then the holidays are moving in! emoticon My hubs took off last Friday, so we headed down to the beach on Thursday. The weather was quite mild and the water still bearable to walk in. Didn't get any fishing in, just puttered around the place and got some relaxing in. Much needed! Well hope everyone is catching a marvelous Monday!

Just stopping in for a sec to let you know my father-in-law passed away Saturday night so I'm not real sure how often I'll be able to chat or exercise. It's been pretty rough so far and I'm sure it's only going to get worse until the funeral on Wednesday.

Hi Team! I'm back from my trip up north. It was good to spend some time with my friends as I haven't seen them much this year. We had great weather for our bonfire last night and the weather was sunny for both my trip up and back.

I'm winding down for the rest of the evening. My knees are still really sore from all the Zumba last week, so I'm not going to do a workout yet tonight. I did get in a walk with the dog so the day wasn't a total loss.

Hope everyone else had a great weekend. Have a great start to the work week!

Hi Team! Sorry I've been gone from here this week for the most part. I thought I'd get a chance to post last night after Zumba, but I'm also trying to get things done to go up north and visit friends this weekend. I'm trying to finish up so I can leave after my Zumba toning this morning (and of course a shower.)

Yesterday was a great exercise day for me. I had to teach fitness in the sculpture park at the gardens yesterday for 2 hours then I had a Zumba party for a breast cancer fundraiser last night. I did the bicep and tricep curls for fitness (12 groups so a lot of reps!) and burned 1650 calories at the Zumba party (have I mentioned how much I love my wristwatch tracker?) I thought I'd be barely able to move this morning, but I feel great. Actually I could barely move when I went to bed, but I took a couple of pain killers and slept like a baby. It also helped to wrap my knee. I've been doing so well on keeping my knee healthy I didn't want any backslide.

I'll catch up with you all on Sunday. I have to read in church Sunday night so I'll be back early from up north. Have a good weekend!

Sally - Welcome to the team! I'm so glad to see another Michigander here. I'm from just north of GR on the west side of the mitten, and the gardens I always mention here are the Frederick Meijer Gardens where I volunteer. That is another place you'll want to take your kids before they get too old. Our children's garden is one of the best. Glad to have you on board!

We're real far from the Island about 4 hours anyway. But I'm real close to Lake St. Clair (walking distance) and Lake Huron (about 1/2 car ride). The Island is beautiful but I haven't been there since I was 9. Should really take the kids before they're too old to care.

Jen, enjoy that hiking trip. I am super envious. I love hiking.

Morning gang. I'm at work until 1 this afternoon then I'm off. I worked extra last week and said I'd just keep the time until today, that way DH and I will get to the haunted hayride we are helping with early enough to help set up. I'm sure it will be late when we get home tonight then I have to work tomorrow, then helping with the haunted hayride tomorrow night.

It's quite chilly here today and still cloudy. It's suppose to clear out this afternoon and really get cold tonight, down into the 30's. Brrr! We'll have to bundle up for the hayride. Long John's and all.

Not too much going on at work yet. After I leave then it will get busy, usually does when you're short handed.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Janet-I write my food down in a diary too, and when I get time, I log in here too to see where I'm at.

GNAB-No, fillings aren't fun. I'm fine now, thanks. I'd love to come see you. Maybe someday. I'd love to see Michigan. Are you far from Mackinac Island? That somewhere we'd really like to see.

Happy Anniversary, Tameka. Hope there's many more.

Good Morning Teammates!

I have had a pretty bad day so far. No workout and ate a Subway sub (footlong) for brunch. I ate 1/2 and put the rest in the frig but not even an hour later I ate most of the other half. Of course, I wasn't even hungry. PLUS, my foot is hurting so I skipped my workout. I guess that's a pretty good indicator to workout even with a sore foot...it'll keep me from eating a footlong.

JCPLANET: I write my food in a notebook and don't worry to much about tracking it here. I do use the tracker if I'm unsure of how much fiber or calories a food has...like a footlong sub.

Jen: What is Bunco?

Donna: I've never had a filling but my husband (who has had many) says they're not fun. So I hope you're feeling better from that real soon. By the way, I live in Algonac, Michigan and am always home and ready for company. OMG how I'm ready for company. Seems like I spend all day waiting for my husband and sons to get home from work/school and they just do their own thing when they get here anyway.

Tameka: Happy Anniversary! 4 years is a wonderful achievement and know that you have many more great years ahead of you. emoticon

I hope everyone is doing better than me today on the food/exercise front.

Good Morning All,

HAPPY THURSDAY!! ONE MORE WAKE UP UNTIL THE WEEKEND!!! Yes, I'm always looking forward to Friday even when I"m not working. Lol... Sounds like everyone has a busy day! Take time to stop and ENJOY it. Even the little things. emoticon

I'm still trying to get balanced and organized - as much as a sleep deprived person can be. I must say, I am NOT looking forward to returning back to work in 2 weeks. ***Sigh*** I'm actually enjoying this time being home with my two little ones. Something I didn't get a chance to do with my oldest. I've been looking for a night job with no luck. And although my current company does have telecommuting - it's not offered for my job title. So if I'm crying in a couple weeks, you all will know why.

Oh a lighter note, today my hubby and I celebrate our anniversary. 4 WHOLE years!! Lol.. Yes, we're still babes in this marriage thing. We're also having Nia's Sip & See this Saturday, so I am looking foward to that. Seeing family and friends, having some yummy treats and drinks will definitely put me in better spirits.

Well I'm off to enjoy the day. The sun is shining and although I need to clean for Saturday, I think I want to enjoy some of this autumn day first!!!

Have an AWESOME one all!!!

Morning everyone. Feeling better than yesterday but still blowing my nose and coughing occasionally so not quite over it yet.

DS and family have found a place to rent that is reasonable, now they just have to come up with the money. Sure do hope they can but I don't see how as they haven't even turned their driver's licenses from FL to PA yet and one of their cars is out of license so that will have to be renewed too, plus then they'll need insurance on them. They've known for over a month that DS would be taking over a co-worker's schedule when he left and next week is when he'll take that over. That means both of them will have to be gone at the same time as DIL works from 6 to 2 most days and he will work 8 to 4 so they need 2 cars. I think he thinks he's going to run our Nova and that ain't happenin'. It's a classic car and we don't want it out on the road all the time. Guess they'll figure it out. I'll let you know what happens.

It's really slow here at work today. I think we've had 4 customers since we opened at 8:30. It's going to be a long day.

I went to the dentist yesterday and got 3 fillings, 2 were small, but they were all in the upper right so when I left the dentist, the right side of my face was numb, even half of my nose. Weird feeling. Then I went to my friend's and helped get a batch of ham and bean soup made. We couldn't make the chicken corn as my friend forgot to get the corn. LOL She already had the chickens done and de-boned so she will make that today. Should be good.

Catch ya later.

Sally-Where do you live? I'd love to come see the leaves. After tomorrow morning it should start to clear out here with the rain and be decent, cold but decent.

Jen-Don't you just hate nights like that? I didn't sleep my best last night either and have lots to do tonight to get ready for the hayride.

Good morning, Team!

I have been up since 3:15, unable to sleep any longer. Schools started 4 hours late yesterday due to parent-teacher conferences. I didn't set my alarm and ended up sleeping 9 1/2 hours. I think that totally threw me off my schedule. Last night I had a hard time going to sleep, then I was up twice to go to the bathroom. I finally gave up and got out of bed around 3:45. I think I have a long day in store.

I have an eye doctor appointment this morning, followed by teacher conferences. I have shopping to do for my hiking trip this weekend. I volunteered to buy the food this time as my schedule was a little less hectic than Nora's this week. Tonight I have Bunco. It is terrible when a fun event becomes something that "must be done" due to feeling exhausted. Oh well, such is life!

I am still doing well treating my way of eating as an addiction. It really helps me to drop the excuses that I give myself for grazing, etc.

Have a wonderful day! emoticon

Hi Team! I'm still struggling to find the right balance. I'm eating better and lost a bit this week. I still need to rev up my exercise routine and tracking. I've got an extra Zumba workout planned for Friday and will do Zumba toning Saturday morning. So as long as I can get a workout in tomorrow night I'll have really improved my weekly results.

I wish I could find a better way to track my food intake. I don't always have time to log everything here and calculate it out. I guess I should get in the habit of just writing it down again. I'll have to think that through.

Hope everyone's week finishes out better than the 1st half. Keep up the good work and healthy living!

Morning Everyone!
OMG I am sick. Well not dying sick, just cold sick where I can't go to the gym because I'm basically sniffling the whole time, and deep breaths aren't always an option. So I guess i"m back to power walking outside until I feel a bit better. FUn! NOT.

Anyways, Jen, I'm glad to hear you'll still be around!

And welcome Sally!

That's the end of my news. I hope everyone is having a bit better week than me!

Morning ladies. How is everyone today? I'm feeling much better, though still not 100%. Thanks for everyone's good vibes to get me over it quickly.

TOPS was not good last night. I gained 1/2 pound putting me 1/4 pound out of leeway again. I know it doesn't seem like a lot but this is getting ridiculous being in and out of leeway all the time. I know I'll get back in next week but it's still the yo-yoing. Don't know how I gained when I was sick for 3 days and not eating much.

Getting back to last weekend, we did go on our drive but didn't see the fall foliage that we had hoped. The wind last Saturday took care of a lot of leaves and they are saying even stronger winds for tomorrow which will probably take care of the rest. Bummer, we were going to go to Benezette to see the elk and more foliage this Sunday. We still might but it won't be as pretty.

Today I work until 1 then I have a dentist appt at 1:30 for 2 fillings then I'm going to a friend's house to help make chicken corn soup and ham and bean soup for the haunted hayride that our tractor club is sponsoring this Friday and Saturday evenings. It's going on for 2 weekends in a row but I'm only helping with this weekend as I have a bus trip on the 29th and 30th. More on that as it gets closer.

Take care.

Jen-I'm so glad you have found what works for you. It is so hard to find just the right ingredients to make it all work.

Karen-Hope your hard times get better soon. Glad no one was hurt in your accident.

Sally-Glad you've found us. I think you'll like us and you'll make lots of new SparkFriends.

Donna

Hi Everyone!

I am feeling so motivated due to my new approach to food. I have been blogging about it. I really believe that I have hit upon a very key issue in my life and am now addressing it. I think that sometimes in life we paddle and sometimes we drift. I think I was drifting for a long time, but I have the paddle firmly in my hands again, and I am paddling!

Sally, We are really glad to have you here with us!

Karen, Sorry to hear that you had such a tough weekend and a rough time in general. We are here for you!

I want to reiterate that I don't plan to go away from my friends. I just want to give up feeling responsible for the team. You can't get rid of me that easily! emoticon

emoticon all,

Sally, emoticon emoticon on your 3 mile walk w/ Leslie!

Haven't posted in a while. Things have been very hectic on my end. Been trying to move my mom's things out of the house. This past weekend we took 3 trucks up to her house and on the way, my hubs lost his brakes and slammed into one of our trucks. Luckily no one was hurt. We still haven't moved the furniture and had to get a tow and need to replace 2 bumpers and a brake line. The weekend was a bust! A black cloud has been hanging over my head this month and am so wanting to see the sun shine again! Trying to get my exercise in but have done horrible with my tracking. Sorry, just one of those weeks!

Donna hope Topps went well for you and you are feeling better.

Jen, so sorry to hear you are giving up your leadership of this team along w/ the other girls. But do totally understand. You need to address your needs. I know I could never take that challenge on at this point of my life. I can barely keep my head above water most days. Glad you had a fun college visit at the w/ Hanna. Have a super time this weekend, you so deserve!

Hope everyone is having a great week. Stay healthy!

Hi team. I'm late posting as I was at IRA training today from 9 to 1 then had to stop for lunch. I was riding with a coworker so he stopped at DQ. I got a grilled chicken salad, which I didn't eat all of as there was water in the bottom of the bowl, plus, when they gave it to me, it had crispy chicken on it and I had ordered grilled so they made me a new one. Till I got it the others were half done eating. Oh, well. Now I'm back at work and there's not much time left so I have to keep this short. TOPS tonight. I was sick yesterday so didn't eat much and haven't eaten much today either. We'll see how that goes.

Until tomorrow. Hugs

Hi Team!

I am headed to the office today. I plan to move furniture today. All of my belongings/office stuff is packed and pushed into one corner of my old office. Today I hope to move everything from the old accounting office (my new office) into the old office so that my new office can be painted prior to my moving into it. I will be away for 3 days next week so it is the perfect time to get the painting done and let it dry before I get my stuff moved and set up.

On Saturday, Nora and I leave for a hiking trip. We are headed to West VA again. We have rented another "pioneer" cabin. It has no electricity or running water. There are gas lights and wood stove and an outhouse. We went to this state park about 1 1/2 years ago and are looking forward to another of our escapes! We will we coming back home on Tuesday.

I sincerely hope that someone out there steps up to lead this team. I haven't heard any interest yet and can't help being concerned about what happens if no one volunteers. Say your prayers, send out good vibes and visualize a new, motivated leader for us all!

Have a great day,

Jen

Hi Team! I had a meeting this morning and this afternoon in the same place, so I decided to run errands between time. I'm done now and thought I'd stop to get a coffee and check email.

I'm doing pretty well today. I had my usual breakfast and since I was out for lunch I opted for chili and a side salad. I've got an apple in the car for a snack later, and it is my turn to cook for dinner tonight so I thought I'd make a stir-fry (which for me is more like steamed veggies with a chicken breast.)

I got my workout in yesterday, and plan to get one in tonight when I get home. Overall, a good start to the week. Tomorrow I'm going to work on getting my water intake up as well as doing some strength training. It feels good to be on the right track again, but it sure is hard work to keep on the straight and narrow. Wish me luck!

Hope the rest of you are having a good Monday and stay on the right track to healthy living!

Hi Team,

It is so good to see you all here. I am going to send out the message to the whole team about needing new leadership this morning. I had such a busy weekend that I never got around to it before this.

Hana loved the college we visited. I did, too. I think it would be perfect for her. We will visit others, but I seriously doubt that anything else will have it "ALL" like this one does.

Janet, Please know that we are here for you. Talking about what is going on is such a big step. You can do this and we are here to help!

Cheryl, Sorry to hear about DH's surgery and the continued strain on you. I'm glad you are feeling better, though.

Shannon, Good luck with that race! emoticon

Lindsay, It is great to hear from you!

Nickey, Buy healthy groceries to fill your kitchen!

Donna, I hope you get a break from work soon. Sorry they stick you with the rotten schedule.

Gotta run! Stay healthy!

Jen

Hi Team! I'm a little sore today, but in a good way. My Zumba instructor is starting a new class called RIPPED. It combines weights and strength training with an hour cardio to hip-hop music. We are just getting started so the muscles I don't normally use are really sore. I'm excited about it though and really need to step things up.

I've been sliding pretty steep lately. Before I only gained back half the weight I dropped since joining SP, but now I'm almost back at my starting point. I know a lot of it is the stress and worrying about my mom. It has been a year and 1/2 since she was diagnosed. There has been a lot of change in her life, but I've also suffered as well and I'm not taking care of myself. I don't know what it is about reaching my limit, but here I am again and I know I want and need to change. I know I can do it because I already did it once. I just know that I'll need to challenge myself to make each day count towards reaching my goal. That is what got me started, and I know that is what I need to do again.

Thanks for being here to support me along the way! I'm planning on a great start to the week and I hope all of you have a great one, too.

Hi guys! Long time, no see! No worries though, you haven't been out of sight or out of mind. I'm still just trucking along with my weight loss and exercise. I just finished Week 7 of my running training this morning. It feels WONDERFUL! I've only officially got one week left but since my 5K isn't until 11/6 I'm going to make it two more weeks. I will be running 5.5 minutes and walking 1 minute next week and then doing the 7 minute run the following week. I'm still a little leary that I'll be able to pull off running the entire 5K but I really, really want to! I don't want to walk at all (that's my goal). I'm really trying not to have the all or nothing mentality on this but it's very tough for me. I want to run the entire thing. I don't want to feel like I failed if I don't run it all. I'm going to just keep up the training and do my very best.

I watched a movie on Netflix the other day. It was called Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead. Interesting to say the least. It's amazing how the man in the movie, Joe Cross changed his own life and touched so many lives along his way. I bought a juicer, just for kicks and thought I'd try juicing a little bit. It's so yummy to have fresh juice!! I can't believe how different it tastes from what we buy in the store, even way different then Naked Juice.

I also watched a movie called Forks Over Knives. It was quite interesting as well. I'd recommend both of them, if you are in the mood to watch a couple of documentaries about food and nutrition.
emoticon
I'm getting ready to go to Illinois for a week. I leave on Friday and I'm super excited! I get to visit my best friend and hang out in his home town. It's the first time I've been there. I'll also get to experience Fall! YAY!! I don't get that in Phoenix so I'm really looking forward to it.
emoticon
I hope you guys have been doing well! I've missed getting online and posting. The new job has been super busy. I'm still prioritizing myself though. It's also a WAY less sedentary job than I thought. It keeps my hopping for sure! I will still be in orientation for a month so I will have time to learn all the ropes. So far, so good.
emoticon
I better run! Keep up the great work everyone!
Shannon

Jen-I completely understand where you are and your choice. You need to do what's best for you and your journey. Thank you for leading the team for so long. We've been lucky to have you as a motivator and friend. I look forward to our continued friendship. You're awesome!

Hi All,

Finally feeling like I'm getting over this cold. The sun came out today and I was able to get some yard clean up done. I love working out in the yard this time of year.

DH got some bad news. The tendon in his hand that he cut on the 4th of July will require another surgery. The last patching ruptured. They will have to transplant a tendon from another part of his hand into the thumb. Apparently God put in a spare tendon that isn't needed except for this kind of thing. Pretty cool, huh?

I also want to reiterate that Jen, Janet and I are not 'leaving' the team. We just need to step down from leadership and will still be here to support you all.

Hope you are all enjoying your weekend.

Morning everyone!
Sorry I've been a bit MIA, but I'm keeping up with my workouts so far! I'm very impressed. I'm also sick, cold sick, not like flu or anything. LOL. And I've decreased my run/walk time for one mile by 26 seconds this morning, very happy about that!!!!

Sorry to hear out leaders are stepping down!!!! :(

Hi gang. Happy Sunday. Church today then we are going for a drive to look at the fall foliage. Don't know where we'll wind up but I'm taking my camera. Maybe I can post some if I can figure out how to do it.

Hi gang. It's a blustery day but no rain. What's that in the sky? Oh yeah, the sun. LOL

There is a home football game today and it's homecoming so traffic is quite busy. No way I'm going into town today.

I'm off at noon then it's go home, get my work clothes in the washer and I have to get the camper cleaned out for the winter. I hate that job. It's not that it takes too long but it's just so final.

I almost killed my right arm last night. I was in the bathroom putting on my nightgown and my arm came down on the towel rack right in the middle of my forearm. I honestly thought I broke it. My whole arm hurt, especially my forearm and hand. I had visions of my right arm in a cast and my left wrist in this brace. Not a pretty picture. Plus I didn't want to go to the hospital on homecoming weekend and have to wait for hours. It feels better today but it's sore where I hit it. I'll probably have a nice bruise in a day or two.

Today is another grandson's birthday. It's the brother to the one that just turned 8 on the 2nd. He turns 3 today. I guess that's something else I have to do this afternoon, wrap birthday presents.

Well I'd better go. Have a great weekend everyone.

Hi Team! I'm finally home from my day at the state equestrian show. My niece was really discouraged as she and her team haven't done much in the competition. She is used to placing pretty well, even in the state 4-H horse show. This is a little bit more snobby in that you have to have the right horse and right equipment to do well. The weather didn't help either. It was spitting rain off and on all day as well as being windy and cold. The arena was indoors, but you still had to brave the weather to get to and from the barns. And the mud, yuck! She has one more class tomorrow but they are over there until Sunday. I think she'll be glad once it is done and her schedule frees up a bit. I think she is a little burned out.

Mom wasn't feeling well enough to go with me, but with the weather and the horrible 2 hour drive there, it was a good thing she stayed home and rested. I was rethinking that it wouldn't have been a good idea with her immune system down anyways.

Nothing much going on the rest of the weekend, but I'm glad Saturday Zumba class has resumed. I missed Wednesday with a migraine so it will be good to get a good workout in. I'll probably spend the rest of the weekend getting some work done around the house.

As for the future of the team leadership, I just wanted to add that we have a lot of unofficial leaders here. I've been down in the dumps for so long that it has been hard to inspire anyone to stick with healthy habits, especially when I haven't been able to keep them myself. I'm still here because the members here are the best and you've already stepped up to the plate as an inspiring leader. We all still want to stay and participate in the team, but it would make the team stronger to have some fresh ideas from new leaders. I hope to be re-energized by the change and spark a new start in my healthy living. Think it over and please consider making your contributions as a leader official.

Have a great start to the weekend everyone!

Morning Angels. It's raining for the third day in a row. Better rain than snow I guess but it's still depressing. Supposed to get windy this evening and tomorrow.

I'm at work until 6 tonight then I get to come in again tomorrow til noon. Tomorrow is the day that I wasn't supposed to work but now am because a co-worker that does the scheduling also has something. Still ticked about it but nothing I can do. The only payoff is that I will get off early next Friday.

My wrist has been bothering me a lot the last couple of days. I don't relish having the EMG but I wish I could have the test and get it over with so I could get some plan of action and know exactly what's causing the pain. I'll surely let you know what I find out when I find it out. I emailed my doc on Tuesday and he replied that it definitely could be work related as I do a lot of repetitive motions, like typing, counting cash, etc. I'll have to talk with my supervisor today and see if she wants me to go ahead and file papers or wait until we know for sure.

Anyways, hope everyone has a great weekend. TGIF!

Jen- I'm sorry to hear of you, Cheryl and Janet leaving but completely understand. I really don't know how you gals juggle everything. Lord knows I don't have the kind of time it takes to devote to it and I'm totally disorganized. I admire you all and thank you for all the hard work you've done. I wish you well.

Hello, my friends!

Hana and I leave this afternoon after school is out to head 3 hours away to a college visit in southern MD. We will spend tomorrow at the all-day open house for prospective students. I will probably not be back here until Sunday.

After much soul-searching and talking with my co-leaders, Cheryl and Janet, we have reached a difficult decision. All three of us plan to step down as leaders of this team. I have been doing this for three years, and I need to focus more on my own wellness. Cheryl and Janet are in much the same situations. We adore each of you and want to continue to be friends and teammates with you. We think that the team needs some new blood with new ideas and new inspiration.

We are letting you know first; those of you who touch base with us each and every day possible and share yourselves and your lives with us. We will be sending out a letter to the entire team, probably on Sunday, asking if anyone would like to take over. We will not be sitting around in judgment about anything that person or persons want to do. They will be the leaders and can move in whatever direction they and the rest of the team wants to go.

I know that change can be hard. We all know that, but this doesn't have to be the case in this situation. We will continue through the month of October to see the challenges through and to try to make the transition a little easier. We really are not trying to escape the PEOPLE here. We just need to step away from the responsibility. We will still be sparking and we will still be available to you, our dear friends.

All my best,

Jen

HI Team! I've been enjoying these last few great weather days so I haven't been posting. But, the rain has finally come so I'm back online again. I'm hoping most of it comes through tonight. I don't mind cooler weather, but tomorrow I'm headed across to the other side of the state to see my niece compete in the state high school equestrian team competition. The show is all weekend, but most of her classes are tomorrow. I hope mom will feel well enough to go, too. She had her chemo treatment yesterday, but so far so good. I guess we will have to wait and see. I'll only be over there during the day, so I should be able to get a late post in tomorrow night.

Donna - I hope the rest of the work week isn't as bad as Tuesday. Bummer on the doc appointments. I hope they find out what is wrong soon.

Tameka - Glad to see you here and still functional on 4 hours of sleep!

Jen - Loved your blogs. I'm in need of a revelation myself and it sure is good to see someone else make some progress on life's problems. Congrats to Hana on her acceptance!

Mauitn - Hope a little more sunshine comes your way!

Cheryl - Get some chicken noodle soup and rest. You're so active that it will take longer to get better. I hope you get a little more sunshine your way, too!

Have a great Friday, everyone!

Hi everyone. Another rainy, dreary day. I'm with Geema, come on spring. Although I don't want next spring to be like this past spring where we had rain most of the time. LOL I don't want much do I?

The fall colors are really popping out right now. DH just said last night that he'd like to go for a ride on Sunday after church and look at the fall foliage. I'll have to remember to take my camera. Should be nice and hope we get to do it. Nothing planned as of yet.

Last Saturday, I was to an auction where I bought 2 boxes full of greeting cards. Some of them were new but most were the older cards. Most were unused. The older cards are beautiful. Very well made with nice greetings in them that actually say something. Well we finally got to go through all of them last night and we cleaned out the dry sink where I keep cards. It had been needing it anyways but now it is all organized. Lets see how long it stays that way. Anyways, the boxes are now off the floor and that was the main thing. I need to do that with most of my cabinets as I have bought new stuff but haven't cleared out the old.

Okay, back to work. Have a great day.

Hi Team,

I am headed to the office today. I have another long day ahead. We are having a huge meeting this afternoon that will be highly emotional. I will be glad when it is over. I hope that all of the issues can be resolved.

Last night, after a 2-hour telephone interview, Hana was accepted into the study abroad program that she applied to. Sometime between mid-January and early February, she will head to China to live for 5 months. It is going to be such a strange experience for me -- worry mixed with excitement for her, trying to figure out how to have a life that doesn't center around my kids, WHEW! Growing up is hard to do, huh???

Tomorrow after school is out, Hana and I are headed to southern MD to visit a college. There is a full day of open-house activities for prospective students on Saturday. She is really interested in this school and I am really interested in it for her. It is a really good school with excellent ratings and the exact programs that she wants to study. The price is also great for in-state students. It is tough to get into, so she will have to prove herself, but I think this visit will determine how much she wants it. We will be back home Saturday night.

I have written several blogs that I would love for you to read. I have had a big insight into myself and am setting out to make some changes. I would like your input.

Thanks,

Jen

Hi All,

Thought I would drop in while I had a few minutes.

I am STILL fighting this dang cold. Now the cough is keeping me awake at night. Then the doctor called and said that I have am anemic, so now I have to have some more testing done.

Been doing my aquatic therapy and it's going well. It often doesn't feel like I'm doing much but then the next day I have achy muscles and figure I must be doing something. LOL

I took the residents to the casino today and we had a great time. I actually won $45.00. Plus I didn't over eat at the restaurant. I had a salad and sandwich and only ate half the sandwich. A good day overall!

The weather hasn't been cold here but has been dark and rainy. Feels a bit depressing. Can't wait for Spring. LOL

Take Care Everyone!!

Morning all. A foggy, damp morning here. I have errands to run this morning and I hope to get some yard chores done in the afternoon.

Yes, Donna. Our 25th anniversary was yesterday. We went out last night to a really nice restaurant and had a great dinner and a wonderful evening.

I hope your medical issues get resolved soon.

Hi gang. It's raining here today. Not much but enough. It's suppose to rain through Friday now.

A little less busy at work today, I'm at a different branch. It seemed like we never did get caught up yesterday. I'm only at work until 1:15 today then I go get my hair cut.

I did well at TOPS last night. I lost 1.5 pounds and am back in leeway. YAY!! I only have a quarter pound cushion though so I need to keep it going to have some breathing room.

My doc appts on Monday went okay. At the foot doc, I am going to get a new pair of orthotics. She will call when they are in, probably about 4 weeks. At the appt for my wrist, the doc now thinks what I suspected, it's a nerve so I have to go for an EMG on Nov. 9. That was the first appt available. I hate the thought of going through another EMG on my arms but it's the only way to tell if and/or where the nerve is damaged at. If there is a cancelation, maybe they can get me in sooner too.Sure hope so.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Jen-Wasn't your anniversary yesterday? If so, hope it was a good one.

Hi Tameka-Good to hear from you.

Nickey-Good to hear from you too. Wow, your little girl is a year old already. Time sure flies when you're having fun.
