Hi Team!

It's a new month! Let's make it count!

I have a lot to do this morning. I have 16-20 people showing up in 3 hours. I hope they can all find a way to entertain themselves as the weather is not cooperating. It is damp and chilly here.

Have a great day!

Jen

Hi Team! I'm still trying to make some progress to get back on the right track, but things still come up that stalls the progress. This week it was the icky weather. There has been a crazy low pressure system sitting over us for the whole time, bringing rainy sunshine (I know that is a contradiction, but that is what's happening.) We also got some gale force winds last night and today. It sure is wearing on my knees and making it difficult to get my walks in with the dog. The last two days we got halfway across the field and had to jog back because it started to rain. (I also realized I need to up my cardio since I was out of breath each time.) I guess it is truly fall.

I can't believe it is October already, either. I really want to make some progress this month, so I might have to check out some of the other challenges. We've had a reduction in the number of participants in the exercise challenge, so I might do away with it this month. Any thoughts?

Dedrie - I'm relieved to hear from you. We've really missed you and will continue to miss you while you're away. Come and visit when you can!

Lindsay - Congrats on the early morning workout! What a way to start your day right!

Jen - I've heard people say you should never have both knees done at the same time since the pain causes your family and friends to go insane! Enjoy the weekend and good luck helping your mom through her surgery. I'll keep you both in my prayers.

Cheryl - I've never had to take any medication for that, but I have broke out in hives from other medication before. Scary! Hope they find a solution for you. I also hope the job stress eases up for you with a quick and able replacement for your assistant.

Shannon - I wish I could run again. Jogging was bad enough on my knees. I think I'll take up fast walking on the treadmill on my October cardio challenge to myself. Congrats on keeping with your own schedule. It is inspiring!

Karen - Good luck with the eating plan. My mom is having problems stomaching herbs and seasonings so everything we're having lately is bland. Just encourages me to eat more to satisfy my hunger. The problem is with her sense of smell so I can't just leave hers bland and season the rest. Hope you have better results!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Hi Team!

Can you believe that tomorrow begins OCTOBER! Where does the time go? I have a busy weekend ahead.

Hana is hosting a group of foreign exchange students here tomorrow. We are having a cookout (that will probably turn into a cook out/ eat in as the weather has just turned quite cool). There will be kids from Japan, Mexico, Germany, England (those are the ones I can remember). They are here going to school with the program that Hana is a part of. She hopes to go to China in early February to study.

On Sunday I am going hiking! I can hardly wait. My friend, Nora, was away over my birthday and she called and wants to spend the day hiking, followed by a little celebrating! This is the light in my tunnel of "things to do". I really have a lot on my plate (so to speak) right now. On top of work and home life, my mother is having knee replacement surgery next Tuesday. We went through this two years ago on the other knee, and I'm not looking forward to it. I will go to PA on Tuesday to be with my Dad during the surgery and to see Mom afterward. Then I will come back home and stay here until Friday when she should be released from the hospital, if it goes the same as last time. I will have to be prepared to leave earlier than that if she is released early. I will be there in PA until the night of the 10th or the morning of the 11th. Oct. 11th is Craig's and my 25th wedding anniversary. I have to be home for that!

I am back on track with healthy eating and feel so much better. Hana was off school yesterday. I took her and her friend back to the mall where we were on the day of the earthquake in August. I logged 7 miles of walking while they shopped. (I did a little shopping, too.) I promised them this return visit as none of us had purchased anything on the day the earthquake hit.

I wish you all a great day! emoticon

Hi Team!
Guess what? Last night my daughter asked me to do P90X with her. It was so cool! We did Cardio X and sweated our butts off together in the family room working out. It was quite a work out too. Even though I've been running and doing Boot Camp, it doesn't compare to a P90X workout. YEE HAW!
emoticon
I ran this morning. It is W5,D2 of my 8 week SP training plan. One more day of running and I'm on to Week 6! GULP! I still can't believe in 3 more weeks I'm going to be able to run 7 minutes straight or even an entire 5K. How exciting!!!
emoticon
This weekend is my daughters bday. I just got off the phone with her and she's going to come spend it at home. It'll be nice! We'll have a family party on Sunday here. On Monday, after my interview, I'll drive up to Flagstaff and spend a few days up there with her. I have to come back Wednesday because I work Thursday and Friday next week. I will enjoy the few days. I love being up there with my two girls!

I hope you're all having a super day!! Feed your soul with goodness!

Hi everyone,

I'm here but a bit frazzled. It;s been such a busy week, trying to get everything in! Taking a lot of deep deep breaths if you know what I me. It's just one of those weeks. Plus when I have a few min, it takes forever to load this page It is like it freezes up. It also says done but error on page??? All the ads loading take for ever these days!

So I am behind with whats going on here and sorry. Hope everyone is doing well. I've been getting my exercise in and have started a fat flush. Never thought I could do it in the past, but it is OK. I have eliminated grains and most dairy for the first 2 weeks and wow, I thought I COULD NEVER LIVE W/OUT(sorry pressed that darn key} bread and starches, but I feel so much better. I eat a lot of veggies w/ lean protein. It's a lot of food! Just plain clean eating! I think I may be one of those who may be allergic to wheat and dairy. So Can't say I'll never eat those things again, just in moderation, I hope. The thing is we are going to a pig roast this weekend and am scared of the temptations. But I have Monday and the next week planned already to get back on track. Been busy w/ Mom, a lot going on up there too! And my aunt has been in and out of the hospital. So just trying to keep my head above water! I think of you everyday.

Need to go back and get caught up???? Well dear new spark friends I hope you have a terrific Thurday! emoticon

How is everyone today? I hope it's a beautiful day for you and yours. So far it's been a nice day here. Fairly quiet though. I had a staff meeting at work today where my boss announced her resignation to the staff. She was really teary. I felt bad for her. She's a good person and I've enjoyed knowing her the past 3 years. I'm excited for her future in Dallas though. She has an amazing job starting in November.

I think I may run today so I can get back on my M.W.F schedule. I know I ran yesterday but I still think it sounds like a good idea, especially since I work Saturday. I won't feel like running after 13 hours of taking care of patients. I may do Thursday, Friday this week, if I don't run today.

Have a super day gang!! Make sure you get out there and get moving!

Hi Everyone!

My morning was just made by hearing from Dedrie! I have missed her so much and been so worried about her. We will miss her as a team leader, but totally understand that life comes first! Big hugs to her!!! emoticon

I am back on track with my eating and after a long lull in my blogging, I finally blogged about food, stress, etc. this morning.

I have an appointment to see an OT about my lymphodema again this morning so I have to run.

Have a healthy day!

Jen, Cheryl, Janet and team, I have no excuse for being away for sooo long except that i have gotten overwhelmed with work. I'm not sure if you all remember, but I have just taken on a new supervisor roll at work and it takes up a lot of my time. When I am home, my computer time is checking e-mails and organizing my next day.

I am saddened to say that I am going to have to step down as a leader of the team for now until things slow down some for me. I will certainly try and keep in touch and I love you all. You have definitely been my back bone during this journey and I thank you all for being there for me. I have just realized that it's not right for me to be a leader that's not involved on a daily basis. I really do hope that you understand and will still be there for me because the Lord knows I need you all.

Hi Team,

Just checking in. I'm having some issues with a new medication I started. This happened with the last statin drug I tried (I think I wrote you about it). Anyway, I woke up with swollen eyelids and hives on my face. So stopping that med and probably will have to try another one. Is anyone else out there on a cholesterol lowering drug? Just wondering what your experience has been. It's kind of frustrating.

Work is still very stressful. My assistant just can't seem to make it to work on a regular basis so had to let her go today. Never like doing that kind of stuff. Now I have to start the search for a new one. So back to the drawing board.

Thanks for the encouraging words, Shannon.

Congrats Tameka! She's beautiful, just like her mommy.

Hi Team! It was a busy day at work as I'm trying to wrap up some fiscal year end stuff while the boss is out. She'll have plenty for me next week to start the new year and I have a feeling October will go very fast. The auditor is scheduled to come in the first week of November so I've got a lot to do before then.

I think mom was doing better today. She requested a specific dish for dinner, so I'm not sure if she's feeling better or that it was all she thought she could stomach.

Now that dinner is done I'd like to get a workout in yet tonight. I'm starting to feel very fat and need to get back on track. I did pretty well on the food tracker so I'm going to make it 2 positives for the day.

Suzie - See you when you get the chance. Keep on the new track you've started!

Jen - Good luck with the move!

Tameka - So good to see you and congrats on your new bundle of joy! With 2 under 2, I don't think you'll have much time to post but we'll be happy to see you when you do!

Shannon - Thanks again for some motivating words! I don't know if I can make myself the priority with everything going on, but I do know I need to make time for myself regardless.

Hope everyone else is having a great start to the week. September is almost over so its time to reassess those monthly goals!

Hi Team!

Tameka! Welcome back! What a beautiful name for a beautiful baby girl! Congratulations. She was born on my father's 80th birthday. That is so cool. I will always remember her special day.

I finally had a good day yesterday. I stopped the grazing after a week of non-stop running and celebrations. I ate well and exercised and got a lot done, too.

Today I am headed out the door to go to my office. I am beginning to pack up my office. I am giving it up to the accounting department. For over 25 years, I have had the "big" office, as the executive director, but we have grown and need space and, while no one else would have ever suggested it, I decided that it was time for me to switch offices with them. It will take about a month for the switch to actually take place, but I need to move my things out of the way, so that their office can be set up first. We can't have down-time for the accounting people. Then my new office will be painted and my things will be moved, except for my small conference table which will stay in accounting.

Gotta run. Have a great day!

Jen

Hello everyone,

another busy day with the renovations but I got through them alright.
Tameka, congratulations on your new little girl. She is just gorgeous.
Welcome back and great getting into your pre pregnancy jeans.

I want to make my excuses now as I am going to be MIA again for a while.
It is just so hard getting on line and with the renovations, my vacation coming up, hubby's physio therapy and other family obligations I will be taking a hiatus from Spark People.
I will however keep up with my fitness and nutrition programs that I have been redeveloping.

Hopefully I will have a chance to post once a week or at least a couple times a month but right now it is extremely difficult to get here until late at night when I am exhausted.

Take care everyone and keep healthy.

Afternoon All!!

Happy Monday!! Guess I haven't been around in a long while. Well to quickly catch up, we introduced Nia Rose Cathey to the family on September 6, 2011. She weighed in at 7lb 12oz and 19.5 inches long. A little bundle of screaming joy. Lol... She came in fighting.
We're both doing fine. Getting used to one another and trying to adjust. And me, just trying to adjust to 3 kiddies - 2 under 2. Whew... Lol... I can say this, I've never made it back to my pre-pregnancy weight so fast!! Just 3 weeks post and I'm back in my pre-Nia jeans. I did a little happy dance this morning. But I'm still carrying my pregnacy weight from Noah, so I have a ways to go. :)
Hopefully, I'll be around more to catch up with everyone!!

Hi Team!

I am determined that today will be my first day back on track! No more racing and grazing. I'm not sure that the racing is over. I have a pretty big week ahead, but I am not going to eat mindlessly. I have my food planned for today and my exercise, too. I will see that the exercise gets worked in to the rest of the insanity.

My mother is having knee replacement surgery on Oct. 4th and I am trying to get ready to go stay with her and my dad. We did this previously a little over 2 years ago, so this is the second and last knee (hopefully).

I am thankful daily that you are all here and a huge support for me and for each other!

Hugs,

Jen

Hello everyone.

I finally have a free moment to get a post in. I have been working all weekend on the rec room with hubby with our renovations. Today I spent 6 hours painting the brick around the fireplace and it is looking really good.
I had to prime it first so that is what is taking so long as well as having to use a brush.

Needless to say my body is aching but it is the type of ache you accomplish when working hard which makes me feel good about myself.

Janet I am so sorry to hear that your mom is going through such a difficult time. My prayers are with her.

Cheryl, so glad you absence was short lived. Post when you can hon because the team is always here. I know I have been so busy it has been difficult to always get on line so I am trying to do my best to post a few times a week and check out how everyone is doing.

Jen I am so sorry I missed your birthday but I send my belated best wishes for a great year ahead.

I am off now for a much needed sleep and pray I won't be too sore when I get up on the morning. emoticon

Hi Team! This has been a quiet weekend with mom feeling pretty poorly. The rain also came today so if I didn't have to read in church tonight I probably would have stayed in my room all day. She seems to be better than last time, so I hope the effects from this chemo treatment don't last as long.

I can't believe September is almost over. I really wanted this month to be a diving board to get back on track, but it seems like I've only waded in the kiddy pool instead. I've got to get serious though. Now that fall is here, I want to wear baggy sweaters because they are comfortable, not because they cover up flab rolls!

Cheryl - Glad you've missed us. I know what you mean about posting. Just remember with this crowd that you don't always have to be upbeat and positive. We've all been there. And I think a few of us are in the same slump. Post when you can and we'll be here for you no matter how you feel!

Shannon - I'm glad you've been pretty upbeat because it is contagious! I've got to harness some of your enthusiasm to get myself on track.

Jen - I think some of those feelings are due to this time of the year, but if not try and get some exercise in to help chase some of those blues away. That's what I'm going to try and do!

Have a great start to the week everybody!

Hi Team!

Sorry again for being MIA. Aside from a great birthday, it has been a miserable week. I feel rushed and overworked and I am tired. I have been grabbing food on the run and that is never good. I am pretty sure that that is one of the main reasons that I feel funky and down. When I eat properly it always helps my outlook on life.

I hope to get back on track and to feeling terrific!

Hugs to everyone,

Jen

Lindsay-YAY!! emoticon

Greetings from Flagstaff ladies! It's SO beautiful up here. I'm typing at my daughters desk with the window open and 50 something degree air blowing across my face. Ahhhh heaven!!
I love it up here. I'm glad I get to visit the girls so much!!
emoticon
Small amount of bad news though, DH wants to go home tonight. We'll be leaving in a few hours to go back home. He has a flight to San Antonio tomorrow and is all antsy about the timing and the drive. GRRRR....he's being a spaz, but I guess it saves the grief to just drive home. Next time there's a question about when we're going home though, I'll drive up myself so I can stay as long as I want.

Shoot....I have to run. My daughter needs her computer back to finish an assignment. Hope you all are having a beautiful day!! See you soon!

Hi Everyone,

So my Spark Break isn't really working for me. Big surprise. emoticon

So I wanted to let you know that I will be around, I just may not post much.

I tend to put a lot of pressure on myself to post daily and to respond to everyone. Right now I just don't have it in me to do that. Then I tend to beat myself up for not posting or for not being positive.

So I will post when I can and when I feel that I have something to contribute, but mostly I will be lurking in the background.

I really do want to be a part of this team. You are all so awesome.

I hope that's OK with everyone.

Hi Team! I just got back from Zumba this morning so I thought I'd take a quick break and post my results. It turned out to be a pretty nice day so we've got to use it to get some work done around here. It won't be long before the weather changes.

Donna - I hope you are able to get some rest and relaxation on your vacation!

Lindsay - Glad you're back and on track. Hope you are able to get your work done. I'm in in same boat!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Morning everyone!
I think I am actually finally back! I've just been so all over the place, but I think most of the stress is gone, so that's the good thing. Now just to clean my house. HAHA. Not exactly on the top of my want to do list...lol. I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Morning everyone. I've been up since 4:15 this morning and out the door at 5:30 to head to the church to start the bean soup rolling. DH had gone over to wash the beans and put them in the kettles to soak overnight and when we got there this morning there were way too many beans in the kettles so we had to scoop a lot out. We have enough for a third kettle now. Yikes!! When I left both kettles were going well and they were soon putting the ham in. It's already cooked so it won't take long for it to heat through and flavor the beans. There were lots of baked goods too, from no bake cookies to several types of breads. Hope it all sells. When I get off work at noon, I'll go back to the church until everythings done and cleaned up. Then I have to get my good clothes done, some more things in the camper and a cassarole made for after church tomorrow. WHEW, I need a nap.

Tomorrow won't be any easier as we have church then a pie and cassarole meal afterwards, then the CROP walk at 2. Monday it's finalize things that need to go in the camper, go to bank, grocery store and have everything done by 11:30 when we'll leave for Gettysburg. I need a vacation from getting ready to go on vacation. LOL

Back to work. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Jen-I hope you have a very happy birthday and here's to another fit and fabulous year!!

Janet-Thanks, I'm sure we will have a good time, it would just be better if there were sunshine at least part of the time.

Shannon-Have a good time in Flagstaff.

Hi Team! I had a pretty busy day and came home tuckered out. It was really busy at the gardens today. We started out with a tour for preschoolers and finished out answering tons of questions on the new art exhibition. The gardens is a hosting venue for an ArtPrize competition that's being held in town for the next couple of weeks. The exhibition is free to guests so we had a lot of people come through, especially since the weather was nice. There are some great pieces in the competition.

We are supposed to get rain off and on the rest of the weekend, but I hope it holds off. We could use it as it has been a pretty dry month so far, but it has been great to get out and enjoy a walk with the dog. She loves it and it has become our time together each evening. We can only keep it up until hunting season which is coming up so I want to enjoy every day that is nice. Besides, my Zumba class tomorrow morning is outside and it would be a bummer in the rain!

Mom is doing a little better after this round of chemo, and I hope she bounces back quicker this time. It will be a quiet weekend with her sleeping most the time.

Karen - Ditto what Donna said about Zumba. With my bad knees I can't do a lot of the twisting and jumping so I just do what I can. As my instructor says, if you can't do the move, just "Shake and Fake" it, as long as you're having fun! We have some senior citizens our classes and they sure have a great time.

Donna - I hope it clears up for your week off, but looking at the long range forecast I wouldn't be surprised that it stays gloomy. Have a great time anyways!

Jen - Happy Birthday! Glad you were able to enjoy it and reflect on how far you've come. Ready for another healthy year?

Shannon - Have a great time this weekend in Flagstaf!

Stay healthy and have a great weekend everyone!

Happy birthday Jen! I hope your day is full of laughter and love!

Good morning fellow Sparkers!!
Sorry I didn't get a chance to post yesterday but I didn't get home until after 11:30 pm (worked until 8 and then went to my niece's birthday bash). It was fun! I can't believe it's been 24 years ago since I got the call from my sister at 5 in the morning telling me her water broke. Ahhh...good memory. It was exciting! (She's my first niece, the first grandchild for my parents and my God daughter). I love her to bits!

I've got a jam packed day of fitness, chores and travel. We're going up to Flagstaff this weekend as soon as my DH gets home from work. I'm EXCITED!!

Thanks so much for all the congrats for the test score. I laughed at myself for stressing about it. It wasn't even hard. Silly me, always sweating the small (and big) stuff! LOL!

Have an amazing day and weekend!! Grab it by the horns and get out there. Exercise, breathe in the fresh air and let the sun shine on your face!

Hi Team!

It's my birthday! I am really looking forward to it. I plan to (after my leisurely morning) spend the day in my sewing room. Then Craig, Hana and I are going out for seafood tonight. I feel very content with myself despite my 2-lb. gain this week. It was a totally crazy week, where I barely had a moment to think straight. I still have a hard time on weeks like that, especially when I don't see them coming. I end up grazing and grabbing food on the run. Unfortunately we had a house full of junk (very unusual for us these days) due to Hana's birthday party last weekend. There was leftover birthday cake, cupcakes, chips, etc. Typically those things don't bother me anymore, but this week I just grabbed and ran.

Anyway, I still feel quite happy. I am a very different ME than I was three years ago. I feel younger than I did 15 years ago! Hurray for feeling fitter and healthier!

Welcome, Euthaj! We are happy to have you here with us.

Hugs to you all,

Jen emoticon

Morning gang. Sorry I was MIA yesterday. I logged in and read the posts but didn't feel to "sparky" so I didn't post anything. Guess the weather's got me down, always cloudy and gloomy and it doesn't look much better for at least another week. Maybe being on vacation next week will help. Going camping from Monday to Friday in Gettysburg. Have to get past this weekend first though. Working today and tomorrow plus the bean soup we're making for church and a CROP walk after church on Sunday. 2.2 miles they say. I'll be ready for vacation after all that.

I'll catch you all up on the doings later.

KSM-One thing about Zumba, you don't have to move like th"youngins" to do it, just do what you can and modify the movements to suit yourself and you'll do fine. Trust me, you'll love it if you try it.

emoticon evening all,

Shannon, Sorry I missed your great score on your skills test, Yikes that is a scary thought, failure+ER, ICU and recovery room. My mom is in a nursing facility and I am having to deal w/ all sorts of competencies or im! Glad you are up at the top!!! Hope your running is taking you to unexpected higher places! It's the best! And not to mention St and Boot Camp, you are on a roll!

Janet, have you had your knee checked, I'm new here and just trying to get to know all. But your burn at Zumba emoticon is awesome!!! I've been wanting to try a class and just always felt i was much older. I have Tv on Demand and checked it out there and know I could never keep up w/ those youngins'. So I guess I'll stick to my run/walks, total gym, and Dvds.

Lindsay, hope you are canning all those yummy veggies and fruits! And doing it w/ your mom, that's the best! BTW, do you live nearby??? I'll be over this winter if you have too much to eat! Just kidding of course.

Had a fun day w/ my mom, did her hair, had lunch, sat at the koi pond and just talked. Love the residents there and so look forward to seeing them when I visit my mom. Just wish I could take care of her here. This has been such a stressful year but things they tell me are only temporary. So I will accept!

Hope you all are having a great eve, BTW, what's up w/ the Phillies????

Hi Team! Had another good day. I kept busy at work and had a good adjustment at the chiropractor. My knee is bothering me (I think because of the weather changes) but I still managed to burn 960 calories at Zumba tonight. I just got home and thought I'd post real quick before having dinner.

Shannon - congrats on passing your skills test! Hope you were able to get a run in tonight.

Suzzy - We sure are on the same page. I've had poor sleep habits for awhile and decided I needed to go back on my melatonin to get some rest. I also flipped my mattress. The last two nights were restful! Congrats on getting a power walk and strength training in. You'll be losing more soon!

Donna - Congrats on your TOPS loss! That's a lot of beans, but I love bean soup!

Karen - Way to go on getting your run in and fixing a gym up for the cold weather. I need to clean off my treadmill and get my indoor machines oiled up and ready soon. Cool wet weather arrives tomorrow for me!

Enjoy the rest of your Wednesday and have a great Thursday, everyone!

emoticon all,

A quickie for me too. Got my run in this morn, but was one of those days I just was struggling, but I did go the distance just had to walk a few times. Also spent some time in the attic of our 4 carless garage, just nosing around and found my total gym. Mind you my hubs love to yard sale and we have things in there I've never seen and some I don't want to! Also came across a treadmill. Not sure if it works, but I'm on a mission now to set up my little gym in the basement. Just in time before the cold weather. emoticon

Donna, that's a lot of beans, don't think I've ever cooked that many! But going up to visit w/ my mom tomorrow and if I see the chef I'll ask him what he recommends. emoticon on your loss! That's the wat to do it!

Shannon, you are such an inspiration! Hope you enjoyed your run!

I know I'm missing a bunch, but know I'm thinking about you and wishing you all an awesome tomorrow!

Hi guys!
Just a quickie today as I'm doing all kinds of stuff related to work (see blog). I did great on my skills test that I was so worried about. I got a 90% and it wasn't even that hard. The scary thing is there were TONS of nurses taking it with me and I'd bet at least a third of them failed!
EEK!! Super scary considering these nurses are in the recovery room, the ER and in the ICU.
emoticon

Today's a run day. I'm going to go out this evening when it's cooler. I'm looking forward to it. I sure love my run days!
emoticon

What are you doing for exercise today? Don't forget to do something, it's SO important and a key to your success! Once its over, it's almost like you've received an injection of sunshine!

Hi team. Had a decent morning with the weather but is now raining, again. It's very gray, dreary and cloudy out. Very depressing.

I did lose 1/2 pound at TOPS last night. YAY! Don't ask me how as I had homemade chips, french fries, ice cream and a hot sausage sandwich last weekend and didn't do anything to counteract it. After TOPS, DH and I went to Hoss's to eat then ran around gathering things for the ham and bean soup and bake sale at our church on Saturday. We didn't get home until after 8:30. Can you imagine 120 pounds of dry, great northern beans? We'll put 60 pounds in each kettle. Now to just figure out how long to cook them. We want to have them done by around 9am. Any ideas? I'm figuring 4 hours of cook time.

Tonight I have a joint budget meeting at church. There are 2 churches in our charge and we have to share expenses.

Guess that's all for now. Catch ya later

Suzzy-WooHoo on the pound loss.

Welcome EuthaJ. I know you'll love this team.

Cheryl-We will miss you while you're gone but we'll be here when you get back.

Jen, Shannon and Janet-Hope you each have a great day.

Good morning everyone,

finally I am getting back on track with sleeping. Last night I did not stay up until 2:00 am I went to bed at 10:00 and was up at 7:00 I was so tired last night because I had tossed and turned the night before.
Getting back to a normal sleep cycle will help me with my power walking program.

Yesterday was a great day as I got in a power walk, and I did 15 minutes of cycling on the exercise bike. I also did strength training again in the evening but that was mainly to try and loosen up my aching muscles from the workout the day before. I am still aching today but now it feels like a good ache.
The drywall arrives today for our basement ceiling and walls and there will be 14 sheets for me to help with carrying in and down the stairs. With Hubby's knee still out of commission he can't do any stair maneuvers carrying things. MY daughter and son in law and youngest son will be here to help which is good.

Janet I want to say emoticon on your successful day yesterday. You and I sound so much alike right now so we should really an inspiration to each other as we get back on track.

Shannon, you are just a bal of fire and are my inspiration to keep on working hard. You are doing so well.

EuthaJ welcome to our team and all the best in reaching your goals. You will love it here.

Jen please send Hanna my best wishes on turning 17. My Tori turned 17 on September 8th so we are both in the same position with young ladies on the verge of adulthood. It scares the daylights out of me that Tori will be off to college next year unless she decides to do grade 12B which is equivalent to the old grade 13 that we no longer have in Canada.

Well the sun is shining now and rain is expected this afternoon so I better get a move on and get my power walk in.

Have a good one everybody.

P.S. I was down a pound this morning which makes me a happy camper. emoticon

Good evening fellow Sparkers!

I hope you are all tucked snug in your beds after a full day of exercise and healthful eating.
emoticon

I am winding down after a long day at work, my Boot Camp DVD, a short walk with my husband, blogging and now posting on my Spark Teams. It's been a full day and this gal is about ready for bed. I still have a bit of studying to do but the pillow will have my name on it within the hour for sure!
emoticon

Thanks so much to those of you that stopped by my blog yesterday and posted comments. I sure appreciate the support and friendship that you have given me. It's so wonderful to be able to relate to complete strangers in such a deep way. I type things in my blog I couldn't say to my parents or sisters in a million years. They just wouldn't get it (and never really have). All of us, however know exactly what it feels like to be overweight and all the obstacles it creates for us. Boy do we know.

It's onward and upward (or technically downward....scale wise that is...LOL). Keep on sparking gang!! One day at a time. We've GOT THIS!

Hi Team! I just wanted to say I had a great day today. It is the first day in a while I didn't wake up with a headache and things progressed positively from there on. I could have eaten a little better, but we went out for dinner at Olive Garden tonight to celebrate my birthday, which is tomorrow. We went tonight since I've got Zumba tomorrow night, and mom has her chemo treatment tomorrow afternoon. She'll feel okay after the treatment, but she'll be pretty tired. The pain and nausea come to her on Thursday after her follow-up shot, and she'll be pretty sick for the next week. This will be her 4th treatment and I hope things start to go better for her. She had a lot more energy the last few days, so maybe she'll feel better sooner. We'll see.

As for me, I'm slowly starting to get back on track. If I can do a few things each day, maybe they'll stick and I can actually make them habits again. I need to print out my checklist so I am sure to complete it even if I don't get on the computer when I get home each night. Wish me luck!

Suzzy - I love your new picture! That's what I look like when I get around to strength training. Glad you're making progress, it gives me hope for my own. As for Homer, have you looked into a dog chiropractor? We used to take our dog (she's 13) to one when her back legs would give her trouble. It made a world of difference. We need to find a new doc though since her old one passed away recently.

Jen - Happy B-day to Hana. You've got one coming up too, don't you? I'm glad you were able spend time with the entire family. I know it gets harder to do when they get older.

Donna - I hope we have a few more Indian Summer days this fall, and it sure would be nice to have them fall over the weekend! Have a great time camping. Are you back to Zumba classes yet? I'm sure your heart monitor watch will be helpful for them!

Cheryl - Take care and see you when you get back! We'll be missing you!

Euthaj - Welcome to the team! Looks like you're doing great with the computer in figuring things out. Your spark page looks great! Glad you're able to join in!

I'll try and post tomorrow after Zumba. Enjoy your Wednesday everyone!

Hi team. It rained again last night into this morning. Sun is trying to shine through right now though. YAY! They're calling for a chance of rain through Saturday. UGH!

I got lots done yesterday. Went and picked up some stuff for the soup sale on Saturday, have to get some more tonight, hubby is going with me tonight after I weigh in at TOPS. I also got the lawn mowed, well my son and I did, and stuff put away in the camper and flannel sheets put on for our trip next week. Going to Gettysburg Monday through Friday. Should be fun. Probably our last trip with the camper:( I also did a little shopping and picked up 4 tops, each either on sale or clearance and they all match and spent only $25. One is even a 3/4 sleeve jacket by Alfred Dunner. It was the most expensive piece but less than $12 and a size 8. I usually wear a 10 or 12 but I tried it on and it fit. YAY again!

I also picked up a heart rate monitor wrist watch at Walmart with what I had left on a gift card that I had won. I've been wanting one for a while but couldn't quite justify the cost. I'm excited to give it a try.

Gotta run. Catch ya tomorrow.

Shannon-WTG girl! You keep us motivated.

Jenn-You've been busy as ever. Tell Hana happy birthday for us.

Hope everyone else has a great day.

Hi Team!

So sorry I have not been posting here. I always save this thread for last (save the best for last) and for one reason and another, I just haven't made it here. Today is Hana's actual birthday, though Saturday was her party with friends and last night was her dinner with family. Today she has an away volleyball game so she won't be home until late.

My sons were both home for her dinner and celebration yesterday. Alex slept over and is still here. It is so nice to have some time with him.

I don't have time to comment right now on what everyone is experiencing. Just know that I have read your comments and blogs and I am pulling for each one of you. You are a great team and wonderful friends!

Hugs,

Jen emoticon

Good morning everyone,

I am up early today as I had a restless night.
My body was aching from finally getting myself back to strength training. Not sure if it feels like good aching or not but I am certain that I have at least begun to make headway on getting back on the healthy path.

I am going to go out for a power walk after I finish posting which will be a good start for the day.
My faithful dog Homer can not accompany me any more because his back hips are giving him some trouble as he is getting older. The last few times I have taken him, he literally stops and refuses to go any further and will turn around and practically pull me home,.Poor fellow because he loves walking.

Well, this old girl can still walk so I am off now and want to wish you all a great day filled with healthy choices. emoticon

Hi Team! I thought I'd get a chance to post yesterday after church, but I had another one of my headaches. I'm getting them more often and I can't figure out why. I have a few different triggers and I'm trying to work them out. In the meantime, I've re-evaluated my habits and think I need an upgrade on my daily plan. I'm going to have to go back to my checklist and fill it out everyday. I've been on a continuous downward trend but I'm determined to make it stop. I won't be much good to my mom and the rest of my family if I'm not healthy myself.

Mom has another treatment this Wednesday, so I know she'll be feeling poorly for the next week. I've got to figure out how to workout and get things done at home without interfering with her rest and recovery. She felt pretty good this weekend, but those days are few and far between. Please keep us in your prayers.

I've got to get some things done yet tonight so I'd better keep this short. Hope everyone else is having a great start to the week.

Hello everyone!

I'm sitting here on my couch typing and I just finished a good CRY. I mean a really good cry (and I'm not a person that cries). I had quite an interesting blog session today and I called my husband and read him my blog. As I was reading it I started to cry. I actually had a hard time finishing it between tears. (It's a must read btw---I had quite an experience today. Get a tissue because you may relate to it A LOT!).

After I finished reading my husband said "Wow! I didn't realize how much running means to you and what it's done for you. I didn't realize what it was like for you as a kid. I've never really thought about it. Wow, honey! Thank you for reading that to me. I bet that's going to help and inspire people that read it."

He is supportive but can't relate a bunch about the childhood thing. Although he is overweight now, as a child he was thin. He was on track and ran fast. He loved to run. Ironically while I have found my inner runner, he has lost his. We talked about that a little too. I think it 'sparked' him a bit. Fortunately he never knew what it was like to be 'the fat kid'. I'm glad he didn't too. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy....well maybe....LOL! No, just kidding I wouldn't wish it on anyone EVER!

I'd love if you'd read my blog and share your thoughts with me. I'd appreciate your input.

Thank you for being here, for reading my rambles/ideas/stories. I'm glad I have supportive Spark Friends and Spark Teams. YOU guys are terrific!! Thank you for helping me find my way and letting me share my SPARK with YOU!

Hey Guys!
So far so good today! I've packed my lunch and snacks so I have lots of good food on hand until I get home, and I have a pretty yummy dinner planned before I go to my night course!

Karen-my mom cans me peaches, and then we did tomatoes together, and now I've just finished canning dill pickles, salsa, and I'm going to try tomato sauce (which will end up being just pizza sauce I'm sure) and apple sauce.

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning everyone,

look here, I am posting for a second day in a row.
I am happy to say that yesterday O had a good 45 minute walk and then last night I got in a 30 minute strength training program.
IT may not sound like much but it is a start for me.

I am hoping that getting back to the strength training on a regular basis will give me that zing I need to stay serious and on track with my weight loss.

I want to wish everyone a happy day and success at reaching your goals. emoticon

emoticon everyone,

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and are off to a good start of a week. Yesterday, I brought my mom home for the day and gave her a cut and perm. She's looking mighty good again. Had a delish pasta and meatball dinner which she really enjoyed. And drove her back. So that was my day, didn't get any exercise in but did do a lot of driving. Today I have to mow and start getting the yard work under control and ready for the next seasons.

Jen, your daughter's party sounds like it was a real success! It's great you have a wonderful relationship w/ her. My son is 20, still lives at home or I should say sleeps at home. He went to Automotive training school to become a desiel mechanic and is currently working at a local garage.

Shannon, girl you are on a roll emoticon ,your pics are great! You've got your spark burning on high, emoticon

Donna, the ham and bean soup sounds yummy, I'm looking forward to making soups again w/ the cooler weather.

Suzzy, renovations are always exciting, sounds like you are near finished. I'd love to get rid of all the carpeting in our house. My hubs is not the handyman type of guy. I would love to tackle it but don't think I could do it myself. Enjoy your emoticon

Linsay, what are you canning? I used to can many years back, it sure is a lot of work but being able to enjoy all winter long makes it worthwhile!

Janet, sounds like you had a busy weekend. Hope your Monday is off to a good start!

Have a great Monday, the sun is shining here so off to get my walk run in. emoticon

Hi gang. Sorry I was MIA all weekend. I was at a machinery show and didn't go on the computer since Thursday. Today I am off but have lots to do this week. Have to gather stuff for a ham and bean soup sale at our church on Saturday. Plus we leave next Monday for a week of camping in Gettysburg, PA. I am off today so better get busy.

Later. Have read all the posts. Hope everyone is doing well.

Good evening Team!
Okay so I think I finally have my crap together! LOL. Ya it took long enough. Anyways, for the rest of the month I'm just concentrating on staying under my cals, plus a bit of exercise, but not hardcore for this girl! Lately I've been doing a lot of canning and freezing! YUMMM! And once I'm all caught up, I'll be back on track totally. Anyways, I hope everyone is doing well and had a great weekend.

Hi all!
Recently got home from my sisters after watching my Cardinals lose to the Redskins. UGH but we deserved the loss. We played like crap. Oh well, I guess pro's are allowed to have 'bad days' too (even though they make millions of dollars not to...lol).
emoticon

I found out some happy news today. My niece is getting married in April (we knew she was getting married already, we found out two weeks ago when her longtime bf proposed the weekend we were all camping). She told us all kinds of good info today--date, color scheme, location of the wedding, basic wedding ideas, dress shopping plans and she asked all of my daughters to be bridesmaids! How cool!
emoticon

On to week four in both my running training and my Boot Camp DVD! HOO RAH! It's going to be a fun week for SURE! I hope everyone is having a beautiful day. If today is your rest day, enjoy yourself and get your body ready for tomorrow. It's a new week and be ready to grab it by the horns and kick it's butt!!!
emoticon emoticon

Suzzy-So glad you posted today! I can completely relate (I too used to be Ms. Mentor a few years ago). One day at a time my friend. You can do it!

Jen-Glad to hear the party was a success. I remember all my daughter's slumber parties. I was always so glad when the kids went home! LOL! Let the cleaning begin......(oh boy)!

Good morning everyone,

yes it is me posting and once apologizing for being MIA most of the time.

I am still struggling with trying to lose weight but I am not giving up either. I have not gained any but I have not lost any. Seems I go good for nutrition for a few days, then things get busy and my nutrition slips.

I have however been very active as we are renovating our recreation room and I have been going up and down the stairs carrying out out paneling and ceiling tiles since hubby is unable to yet due to his knee. Dry walling will proceed on Wednesday then we will hire a professional to do the seeming and compounding. After the room is all painted we will be putting down a wooden floor thus getting rid of the last of the carpeting in our home.
My bowling league resumed 2 weeks ago so I am getting some form of exercise in and I am taking walks a couple times a week.

I have not yet gotten back to strength training which I need to do but I am working on it.

I feel as if I am a just bunch of excuses and I also feel ashamed at my lack of willpower since I was always a mentor here a couple of years ago. I am now in the passenger seat and really need to get it together. I have to get out of my rut and Janet I know exactly how you are feeling.

I am so happy for all of you that are making progress and I look to you as my inspiration. Although I amy not always post, I do check into Spark People daily to keep on track even if just in maintenance mode.

Have a great day and stay healthy.

Good morning, Team!

The party is over and one girl just left after the sleepover. There are still two more in my basement with Hana. Fortunately, not everyone was invited to stay the night (no boys, for instance) and only 3 stayed. It was all very nice, but I am ready to have my house back!

I wasn't horrible with the party food yesterday, but could have been better. Back on the wagon today!

I hope you all have a great day!

Jen

Hi Team! Sorry I've been stuck in a rut lately and not posting. I was hoping to get back on track yesterday and today, and they ended up being a bust. Yesterday my nieces were over for a visit and it is hard to get anything done with a 5 year old in tow. Today I thought I'd have plenty of time in the evening and it turned out I just got home. I had a baby shower to go to around noon and I ended up visiting with my friends afterwards. It was good since I hadn't seen them in awhile, but I do have a ton of things to do this weekend and have gotten zilch done. Looks like tomorrow will be a busy day!

I hope you all are doing great, and I'll catch up with you after church tomorrow night. Take care and see you then!
