Morning team. Not much time as I am at work and it's promising to be a busy one. I have one person coming in for a partial CD (certificate of deposit) withdrawal and a new account coming in between 10 and 11 besides all the regular customers. I'll sure be glad when noon rolls around.

I gave you wrong info yesterday on where DH is going. He's going to a car show with his son and a friend to Cumberland, MD., not York, PA. Sorry. The women are all going shopping as soon as I get there.

I'll check in tomorrow. Have a great weekend.

Janet-Hope you make it to the movie. You really need to take some time for yourself. Sometimes we just have to Start Over. Take care.

Hi Team! I'm so glad August is over. I took at least one day off from work or volunteering each week in August and none of it was spent on me. I don't mind too much because it was for my family, but I've got to get a handle on things so I can start taking care of myself.

I've gained back most of the weight I lost with Sparkpeople and it is at the point that enough is enough. I'm going to start over and really get on track again with logging my meals and exercising daily. I'm not sure how I'm going to pull it off, but I'm going to try my best. I already got my daily exercise in so far for yesterday and today. And since I'm not going anywhere this weekend I should be able to get it in over the rest of the weekend. Wish me luck!

I'll try and check in to get caught up this weekend, but I'm not promising anything. The one thing I do want to do this weekend is to go to the movies. I still haven't seen the last Harry Potter and I want to see it on the big screen. I don't think it would be asking too much to do that.

I hope everyone else enjoys their weekend. Keep it a healthy one!

Morning gang and TGIF. I got the one bedroom cleared out for DH and family. Now we'll have to figure out how to rearrange the furniture to accomodate an air mattress. We'll figure that out once they get here on Monday.

Not much going on yet, just watching people move home from the fair. Lots of campers and trailers with furniture on them going by. It's funny to see as everyone is in a hurry to get into the fair, then in a hurry to get out once it's over.

I'm expecting work to be busy today and tomorrow as there is a Penn State home game at noon tomorrow. There'll be lots of traffice early tomorrow morning. I have to work tomorrow then I'm going with my DIL, DGD and DIL's mother shopping. Then men are all going to an antique car show in York, PA.

Hope everyone has a great weekend

Hi Team!

Sorry for the late check-in. I had a mammogram this morning and a dentist appointment. Then I did shopping for the weekend. My parents are coming on Saturday and we are having a big cookout on Sunday. Then I crashed. My infusion is due tomorrow and I am definitely feeling the effects of a busy month. I don't always crash at the end of my infusion cycle, but sometimes I do. There is Back-to-School night tonight and I really wonder how I will get through it.

Talk with you tomorrow.

SHANNON....BIG congrats on stepping into "ONE-derland". You are doing awesome so keep it up girl.

September has arrived with lots of sunshine here in Southern Ontario where I live and after a big rainstorm last night it is just a very pleasant day.

I am hoping to get out for a nice walk later on and take my hubby and little dogs with me.There is a lovely walking path along the canal downtown and it is so nice for taking the dogs and enjoying the nature ariund you.

I want to send my wishes to everyone for a month filled with healthy choices, good goals and success at reaching them.

My mother and I booked a trip to Myrtle Beach for the end of October when the hurricaine season is over. HUbby told me I deserve it and said to go and enjoy myself so It took me all of 5 minutes to book our rooms and our flights. Didn't have to twist me arm at all LOL.

I have this date to look forward to so I am Hell bent on reaching my weight loss and fitness goals so wish me luck.

Good morning team!! It's going to be another hot one here in Phoenix today. It's supposed to be 110 by 3 PM. UGH!! I'm so happy it's September and there is an end in sight to this summer. I am SO done with the heat!

Guess what? Guess what? Guess what?!?!
I am officially in ONE-derland!!! This morning I got on the scale and I weigh 199.9!!! Adios 200's I hope to NEVER, ever see YOU again!!!
emoticonemoticon

We're going camping tomorrow for Labor Day weekend up in S. Utah. I'm really looking forward to it!! I get to be up in the cool and plan to hike my buns off!! It's pretty high in altitude so I hope I adjust fast (10,000 ft). My parents have a cabin so my family goes up every July 4th and Labor Day. During Labor Day it's just our immediate family and over the 4th it's Aunts, Uncles, Cousins...everybody! It's a lot of fun! We won't leave until after school so I'll have time to get my Bootcamp and my 5K training done before we go.
emoticon
(We don't get cell signal up there or have any electricity/phone, etc. so I won't be able to post until late Monday or Tuesday, unless we come off the mountain for something. If so, I'll only be able to use my phone to input calories and exercise).

What does everyone have planned for the weekend?? I hope it's a safe one and full of fun!! Remember to choose foods wisely and keep moving all weekend.

Morning team. It is raining this a.m. Hopefully it clears out later as this is the last day of the fair and there is a parade at 1. I am not going. I went for the last time last night. Now I really need to be home and get some things done.

I don't think I told anyone on Spark but my DS, DIL and their 3 children are moving back up from Florida. They are going to give PA a try and live with us for a few weeks to sort of get back on their feet. I think I'll stack them all in a corner to sleep but we'll make do. Our house is small but it does have 3 bedrooms. We got rid of all the beds, except ours of course, and a day bed, when we finally became empty-nesters. Thank goodness for air matresses. The kids will all have to get registered for school, the youngest in daycare. They will arrive sometime on Monday. I'll be glad to see them but I'm sure I'll also be glad when they get on their feet and move back out too. LOL

Have a great day everyone.

Geema-Hope they can soon do something for your pain.

Good evening Spark Team!

I hope tonight finds all of you well. Those of you wet from Irene, I hope you get dry and cleaned up soon. Those of you that don't feel well, I hope wellness and health are right around the corner.

Can you believe that August is almost over? WOW this month has flown by!! It's been nice to really get back into the Spark groove and be active on a couple of Spark Teams.

I'm really, really hoping that when I get on the scale tomorrow that I am in ONE-derland. I am hoping that I reach my August goal of 199 or less. We will see, you'll know shortly after I do! LOL!

It's been a good month of starting new habits, making good food choices and creating new behaviors. I'm happy. I am honestly happy and it's been quite a while since I felt happy like this. I feel proud of myself for doing this. It feels SO good to be on this path again. I'm SO glad I'm here!

Today was D2 W1 of the 5 K challenge training (see my blog). It went well. I can't believe I may one day be a runner!
emoticon

It was also D3 W1 of my BL Bootcamp DVD. My glutes are still sore but it's not as awful as yesterday. I upped my arm weights today to from 5 to 10 lbs. I needed more of a challenge on my upper body and I was ready/able to do it. It feels good to see progress....ANY progress, ya know?

I think I've taken up enough post space....LOL! Have a great night all!

Hi Team,

Just checking in after a long day at work. I am feeling frustrated because I can't get any exercise in. Even walking causes me back pain. I am hoping that the doctor will release me soon. I need to do something. Still keeping my food intake in check for the most part.

Jen, I love stuffed red peppers. I just might have to make me some here soon now that you reminded me about them. :-)

Nothing else much going on.

Keep on Sparkin' Everyone!!

Hi team. I made wiser choices at the fair last night, only had a bowl of chili in a bread bowl, I did not eat the whole bread bowl, then had a small ice cream cone as I got horrible heartburn from it. The dairy in ice cream fixed that. I left the fair a little earlier than Monday, I saw what I wanted to see in the tractor pulls so I left.

I wasn't going to go to the fair tonight but with impending weather possibly moving in for tomorrow afternoon, I think I will then not go tomorrow, which is the last day. Halleluiah?! I'm not going to the pulls tonight. I have a friend whom I haven't seen yet and I'm going to go visit them. We only see them once a year and they are camped at the fair. Yes, there is camping at this fair, the only one of it's kind in the USA. If you want to see what it's like, just google centrecountygrangefair and it should pull it up.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Hi Everyone!

I am about to head out the door to go to the office. One day or so per week in the office always makes for a busy day. I made stuffed red peppers last night and have one ready to go along with me for lunch.

I am very bummed that I gained .9 pound this week. I have been doing extra exercise so this is killing me. I guess it is the fact that Hana and I ate out a lot while Craig was gone. I tried to make wise choices, but I'm sure I loaded up on sodium. Back to the drawing board!

Have a great day!

Donna!! 17 K on your pedometer is super!! Have fun at the fair again today.

Cheryl-The Help is a good movie actually. It's not near as good as the book and they did change/omit some things, but it's worth watching for sure. (I haven't read or seen Water for Elephants but I've heard its good. I have to finish 'The Spark' before I read anything else.)

Jen-YAY! Hubby is home! So glad he made it safely.

Good morning team!!

Can you believe that August is almost over???? Tomorrow is the last day....WOW did it fly by! For those of you in the BLC August--good luck and I hope you all reached your goals and made some positive changes in your lifestyle this month!! (Heck, I hope that for EVERYONE)

Yesterday I did a bootcamp DVD and my glutes are SOOOO sore this morning. I look like a 95 year old woman when I first stand up. LOL!! I am supposed to do it again today...that'll be hilarious for sure! I also joined the 5K challenge (see yesterday's blog). I did my first day of training last night and it went pretty good. I was nervous about it but it went way better than I expected, so much so that I even added an extra run/walk cycle AND remained on the treadmill for an hour! (I really, REALLY want to meet my August goal----c'mon ONE-derland!!)

Best wishes to the entire team! Have a SUPER day!

Morning team. Yesterday at the fair was great, although the eating wasn't. I went over in the calories and sodium. Today I'll get back on track. I did strap on my pedometer and I did over 17,000 steps. No wonder my feet were hurting.

I did see all three GDs at the fair. They all rode rides from 10 am to 4 pm as it was kids day and they could purchase a wristband for a minimal amount that got them on the rides. Once 4 o'clock hit, the midway was packed.

I didn't leave the fair until almost 9pm as I was watching the tractor pulls. These were not your ordinary farm tractors. They are modified with turbos and can push 1800 horsepower with one engine. They are down the track in less than 10 seconds and most went nearly 300 feet, some more than that. I love watching them. They weren't over with, but felt that since I had to get up to go to work today, I had stayed long enough. I'm going again tonight after work. Yep, more tractor pulls.

The wrist is hurting more today. Of course I'm using it more at work, which leads me to think that it's not a sprain or tweak, as the doc called it, but something else, but I will give it the 4 weeks and see what happens.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Jen-A good shower always feels good after a hard days' work. Glad DH made it home ok.

Cheryl-Hope they can do something for your pain so that you can get back to some sort of normalcy.

Janet-Hope your mom fairs well with her chemo tomorrow.

Hi Team!

I had a really product day in the yard yesterday. I spent 3 hours trimming trees and shrubs and hauling the trimmings to the far back of our property, past our fence and down over a hill. Then I came inside and did the treadmill. It felt great (especially after a good shower and a nice salad!)

Craig got home last night after I was in bed. I heard him at some point in the night but haven't really "seen" him yet. He doesn't go back to work until Thursday.

Cheryl, So sorry to hear about your back. I hope they can help relieve your pain now that they know exactly what the problem is.

Janet, I hope your Mom's treatment goes well and that the aftereffects are gentle for her. Still no word from Dedrie.

Lindsay, Way to go, on getting back on that wagon! No one can be perfect. When we realize that and move on from our slips, we move away from that life of beating ourselves up and giving up. YOU ROCK!

Shannon, Welcome back to real life. I'm glad you had a great trip!

Donna, How was the fair?

Suzzy, I didn't realize that you were that close to Buffalo. That is where my husband's family is from.

Have a great day!

Jen

Hi Team,

Been a busy weekend.

I saw the neurosurgeon on Friday and he said that I have 3 herniated discs in my thoracic area. He said that operating would be too risky. He doesn't mind operating in the lumbar or cervical areas but said that the thoracic area has too much of a risk of paralysis.

Now I have to go back to the original doctor to see what we are going to do. Possibly more physical therapy.

Anyway, this weekend I was a Domestic Goddess. After taking my 3 year old grandson blackberry picking (of course he ate everything he picked plus some) I made a blackberry crisp, made some beef jerky and some banana bread. Only tasted a little of the crisp and had a small piece of banana bread. Can't say the same for the jerky, but the salt content is more of a concern than the calories. Plus I did all the regular house cleaning and laundry.

I whooped and my back is killing me. But it was so worth it!

Shannon, I read 'The Help' several months ago and really enjoyed it. I haven't seen the movie yet. They so often change so much in the movie that it is a disappointment. Did you like the movie? I haven't seen 'Water For Elephants' yet for the same reason. Books are always so much better.

emoticon job for getting back on track Lindsay! That's when we truly know that we have embraced a life change and are going to be successful. When we can 'fall off the wagon' or have a 'weekend spree' (or whatever you want to call it) then get right back on our plan of healthy eating and exercise. I'm very, VERY excited for you!! You're going to do this girl! Just stick to it!
emoticon

JC-I hope your Mom does OK with her chemo. I was an oncology nurse for a few years and I know that chemo can be hit or miss. It truly depends on the agent itself--sometimes there are pretty rough symptoms and other times their are very few (if any). Just be sure if your Mom is having any adverse symptoms she report them to her doctor. There are lots of medications out there that we use to try and make any chemo side effects as subdued as possible. Best wishes to both of you.
emoticon

Jen-I'm with you! This summer FLEW by! My oldest two girls started school today and my youngest started last Monday (all in college). I miss them when they are up there but at least there are weekends! YAY!

Well team, I'm back home from Flagstaff and it's hotter than Hades outside (my Mom always says that so it makes me LOL to even type it). I did a 30 minute 'Biggest Loser' bootcamp DVD with 'Bob' today. Holy moly are my buns feeling that! It's a good thing!
emoticon

I didn't get a chance to go on a hike but I did do TONS of shopping and an extra walk yesterday in Flagstaff. I also did a mile and a half walk last night when I got home. BOO YAH!

I finished reading "The Help" over the weekend. It was a good one! Even better then the movie!!
emoticon
I'm starting 'The Spark' today!! I bought it about 3 weeks ago but already had other books in front of it. I am SO in the right mindset to read it and use it as a continuing source of motivation!!

I best get going. I have a fun day ahead of me.
Have a beautiful Monday everyone!! My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you that were affected in any way by Irene. I hope you're safe and DRY.
Hugs from AZ,
Shannon

Hey Everyone!
How was the weekend? Mine was good---but I wasn't good. How's that for an explanation. IT probably wasn't as bad as I feared, or maybe it was worse? The scale will tell me in 2 days I'm sure of that. Today I'm back at it though! Bike ride at lunch and hopefully after work if the weather doesn't turn too nasty!

Hi Team! It is good to be back home, but now I've got a lot of work to do. My sister doesn't have reliable internet, so I wasn't able to get much work done, even if the little one would have let me. I've got my regular work schedule so I'll have to work around that, and I have some errands to run this afternoon. I think I'll like the long weekend. I usually visit with friends up north but with the economy so bad, they decided to stay home for the holiday weekend. I may go up to see them since I didn't see them a couple weeks ago, but I may just stay home and use that time to get caught up. I guess I'll see how much I need a break by then.

Mom is doing okay, but she has her second chemo treatment on Wednesday so she may not be doing so well by then. That may affect my weekend plans too.

I've noticed how much I've let myself go caring for others and decided I need to get back on track in the coming month. If I can at least track my food intake and exercise daily that would be a big improvement. I'll try and start with that and see how things progress. It may be all I can manage for now.

I've got to get going on my errands. I'll see you later!

PS. Any word from Dedrie? I wonder how she fared with Irene.

Hi Everyone!

My daughter went back to school this morning. Wow, where did the summer go? Oh well, on to a new season and new challenges!

I am hoping to get into the yard today to do some work now that we have finally had some rain to soften up the soil. My husband comes home from FL late tonight and he goes back to work on Thursday after taking the month of August off. By next week, my house will be back to complete quiet (except for the dog).

Donna, Enjoy the fair!

Shannon, I hope you get your hike in today!

Have a great day team!

Morning gang. Good to hear everyone made it through Irene okay. We took our camper to a tractor show on Friday evening but it rained for 2 hours Saturday morning then off and on all day Saturday, it wasn't supposed to but it did, so they cancelled everything and we came home Saturday night. Cut our weekend short.

Yesterday we went to church then to Cracker Barrel for lunch. Then went to Walmart and the grocery store then home. I worked on my church books and they balanced on the first try. I was so happy. Usually I have to work and work on them to get them to come out right. Go, me.

Today I am going to the fair. It's kids day there so I'm sure it will be full but 3 of our DGDs will be there and maybe I'll see them.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Hi all!

So glad to hear you and yours are ok Jen. My best friend in NC did ok too. She's really flooded and has some tree damage but it's way better than they anticipated. Thank God!

This morning I convinced my hubby to walk with me. We did a quick 46 minute walk before the rest of the kids in the apartment woke up. It was nice. My DH struggled a bit but he still did it. I'm glad too because he needs a healthier lifestyle as much or more than I do.

I'm still hoping to get in another walk or better yet a hike later today before we go home. I may be able to convince my oldest daughter to hike. Otherwise I'll settle with a walk.

I hope everyone has a beautiful Sunday!

Hi, Team!

We survived the storm with no problems. Hana and I just locked ourselves into the house and have a movie night. Fortunately, we didn't even lose power.

Craig is still in FL and today is Hana's last day before going back to school. She has a birthday dinner to go to this evening so we will probably try to do something fun together this afternoon. While she is gone, I will get on the treadmill.

I hope you all have a great day and no more IRENE!

Just wanted everyone on the East Coast to know that you are in my prayers. I pray that Irene won't cause the destruction that other hurricanes have caused in the past.

Good evening team!

I just got back from a 45 minute brisk walk up here in this 7,200 foot altitude. It sure is fun to climb the hills. It makes my little heart pitter patter like crazy! LOL!

It's been a busy day and lots of fun. We've been shopping a big chunk of the day. We got to go buy pans, glasses, storage containers, utencils, groceries and a DVD tower. After we bought it all we came home to put it all away (of course after washing the dishes and containers).

I was planning on getting a really long walk in this morning but my husband came earlier than I thought he would. I had to fit my walk in tonight and I'm hoping I can convince DH and DD to walk to dinner. (Here's to hoping!)

Tomorrow I am planning on a hike with one or both of my daughters. My oldest daughter will be hanging out with us tomorrow so we get to spend the day with both of them. It should be a really nice day!

Well folks, I better get to logging in the rest of my SparkPoints and then blog for the day. I hope you're all doing well and Sparking away!

Good evening/good early morning!

Sorry so late tonight everyone. I've been moving my daughter in her apartment and shopping with her for stuff most of the day. It's been fun but tiring. We just got back from a quick 30 minute walk. I said "OMG we have to hurry so I can still get my posts in today"! She laughed at me and said "OK Mom".

I got in a 5.5 mile walk this morning because I wasn't sure what kind of exercise today would bring. I figured better safe than sorry. WOW was it hot in Phoenix! It was 114 and just awful! When I was walking it was like 105 and it was only 8:30 in the morning.
emoticon

Tomorrow should be a nice day. Rebecca said she'll walk with me so it'll be much better than listening to the same ol' same ol' on my iPod and walking alone. I am hoping it'll be a lovely weekend of bonding. She's not looking forward to being here for another year and has dreaded this weekend all summer. I'm just going to be as loving and supportive as possible.

I best get going for now. I hope all those in the hurricane path remain safe! Please be prepared!! *hug*

Hello everyone,
I am sending out prayers for all of you in the path of the newest hurricane.
It is so sad to hear of the family who lost their little girl and I will say prayers for them. It is most devastating to lose a child and I know this first hand.

I hope everyone is doing well with their fitness and nutrition plans.
Today I had a great day and had only healthy nutrition. Now if I can just keep up the pace.
My granddaughter and I went shopping for school clothes but only managed to get a couple of tops.
All the styles seem to be the same everywhere.
We really just need to get her a pair of new walking shoes as she has plenty of clothes. Hopefully we will have success next week.
I went all the way to Buffalo today (crossing the border from Canada) only to discover the prices the same as well as the styles. Guess I will stick to shopping here in my own area or try Niagara Falls New York where I am very familiar with the area for shops and only takes about 40 minutes to get to.

Sending best wishes for a great weekend. I apologize again for not being around much but this summer has been extremely busy for me. Once school returns I am looking for some ME time and when hubby is finished his physio and gets to return to work I can get back to my old daily routine.

Have a safe weekend and for those affected by the storms, be careful.

Hi Team! Just wanted to check in real quick before dinner and while grandpa has my youngest niece occupied. We went to the gardens as guests today so we stopped here for dinner on the way back home. That is great cuz it gives me a little break. I don't know how my sister does it. The little one has me about worn out! My sister and BIL will be back late tomorrow night, so it won't be too much longer. I may stay up and watch my oldest niece show her horse on Sunday if I'm not too tuckered out. It sure has been a long week!

I just heard the microwave ding so dinner about ready. Hope all of you are doing well - especially those on the East coast and keeping an eye on Irene. Keep safe! I'll catch up with you all later!

Morning everyone. Hope everyone stays safe if you are in the path of the hurricane.

DH has to go to Pittsburgh this afternoon so he may or may not make it home before me, depends on traffic. Then it's off to camping at a tractor show. I'm looking forward to it, but with the hurricane coming, it will probably be a wash out on Sunday. Maybe we'll get home at a decent time. Seems like it always rains for this show.

The storms that went through yesterday morning turned out to be deadly. A family in Somerset County, PA lost their 10 year old daughter when a tree with a 2 foot circumfrance fell on their mobile home right where the girl was sleeping killing her instantly. I do not know this family but they really need everyone's prayers. I can't imagine a more painful situation than losing a child.

Thanks everyone for the anniversary wishes.

Have a great weekend. TGIF!!

Hi Everyone!

I had a really nice time with my friend, Nora, last night. Hana was babysitting so she and I went out for Thai food and some beer. It was nice to get out. When we went to leave, Nora had a flat tire so we got the adventure of changing a tire at 10PM under a parking lot light. We did it!

Hana got home earlier than planned so she and I watched tv until around midnight (late for me). I slept in this morning and am looking forward to a slow-paced day. I want to spend some time on the treadmill and I think we will hit a movie.

Tomorrow morning I will have to do some preparation for Irene. They are calling for high winds and heavy rain here beginning tomorrow evening into early Sunday. I'm so glad I don't live on the coast at times like these.

Donna, Sorry to hear about your wrist.

Cheryl, It's great that you are staying on track!

Shannon, Have a safe trip home.

Take care, all you sparklers!

Jen

Hi Team,

Thanks so much for the anniversary wishes. Ours is actually today, the 25th. Apparently Donna's is tomorrow..

So Happy Anniversary tomorrow Donna!

We aren't doing much celebrating tonight. With my FIL in the hospital and me working we decided to wait and go to the Olive Garden on Monday, which is actually my Sunday. That's if everything goes OK with my FIL. He seems to be doing OK today.

I had an awesome salad for lunch that was only about 250 calories. Yogurt and berries for breakfast. So I am still staying in my calorie range. Woo Hoo!

Have a Fabulous Friday Everyone!!

Donna-Thanks for the info. I actually put two emergency numbers, along with my allergies on the back on my laminated license copy and put it in my pack. I'm glad I did that. It's been one of those things that was nagging at me.

Happiest of Anniversaries you two! I hope today is a day of joy, celebration and reflection on the years you have been together. May both of you have many years and blessings to come!

Jen-So scary to not be able to find your daughter. I'm glad you both were OK. I agree, earthquakes are scary! I love Cali but could never live there. I just love to visit!

Hiked Thumb Butte for the last time this morning. I shaved 9 minutes off my best time. I felt SUPER! I'm a little sad I'm leaving today BUT I get to go to Flagstaff with my daughters and hubby tomorrow. There's sure to be some beautiful hiking/walking up there FOR SURE!!

Besides, I've got to show off my fancy new pack. LOL!

I hope everyone has an amazing Thursday! I'm going to finish posting a few spots, blog and do my other various self imposed Spark point requirements and then read a bit. (I'm reading 'The Help'. I saw the movie and am really enjoying the book. Next book 'The Spark', I bought it but haven't read it yet).

OK gang...gotta run!
Kick butt today! Make a plan and WORK your plan!

Hi gang. We had a couple of T-storms this morning and a nice rain to follow. Now it is a little breezy with the sun trying to come out. Love it.

Yesterday's doctor appt lasted over an hour. I saw the doc, who sent me to xray, then back to the doc. Long story short, he thinks I have a slight spraign or "tweaked" it somehow. I have no idea how I did it. I am to wear a brace on it and ice it and take ibuprophen when needed. How long? He said to give it a good 4 weeks and if it isn't well or better to come back. Xrays showed it was normal, with no breaks. At least something on me is normal. LOL So now I have to try and type with this on. Tricky!

Not much else going on. I'll try to check in later.

Shannon-Do you carry a cell phone with you on your hikes? I always carry mine when I go for a walk. That is one way that they can call whoever you set up as an emergency number. It is called ICE (In Case of Emergency) and you can list up to 3 people and numbers. Just a thought.

Thanks everyone for the anniversary wishes. Yes, mine is tomorrow as well. It will be 22 years for us. Congrats Geema on your 27 years. Seems like August 26 was a good day for long marriages.

Jen-Glad you and your daughter is okay after the quake. I agree, it is scary to go through.

Good morning, Everyone!

I woke up this morning after finally getting a good night's sleep and got ready for a walk. I got outside and the sky turned black and the rain began to beat down. Despite it ruining my walking plans, I am so thankful for the rain. We need it desperately. I just hope that Hurricane Irene is kind to everyone in its path.

Cheryl, I'm so sorry to hear about your FIL. I hope he comes through the surgery and that it is successful. I had a friend who had blood clots removed from his lungs in May. I was very worried about him as he was in a very weakened state, but he has done well. I hope the same for your FIL.

Craig left for FL this morning to visit his mother. Hana and I are on our own until Monday night. I am looking forward to this little break from the routine.

I hope you all have a healthy, happy day!

Evening Team,

I managed to stay in my calorie range again today even though I took the residents out for Chinese food.

I just got some more bad news about my FIL. He has a blood clot in his lungs and they will be operating immediately. It has been one thing after another with him ever since his surgery for the growth on his pituitary gland. The doctors said that he has had every complication possible since the surgery. I pray that there are no more complications to follow.

Tomorrow is our 27th wedding anniversary. I have no idea where all the years went.

Donna, didn't you say your anniversary is soon? I thought I had read it before but couldn't find the post again.

Wishing Everyone A Terrific Thursday!!

Hi Team!

Sorry for the late check-in. I was one of those people who really got to feel the earthquake yesterday. I took my daughter and her friend to a mall just 85 miles from the center of the quake. I was in a store shopping when it hit. People were screaming and running from the mall. I called my daughter's cell phone right away and heard her voice before the call was cut off. Then the circuits were jammed and no one around me could get calls through on the big networks (Verizon, AT&T,etc.) It took me 40 minutes to find my daughter and I was very concerned. I know it may be small compared to what Californians experience, but it was scary nonetheless.

Welcome, Marie!

WooHoo, Donna on your loss!

WooHoo, Cheryl on getting back on track!

Way to go, Lindsay!

Sorry about your pedometer, Shannon!

Hang in there everyone.

What a nice uplifting board to walk into today. Everyone is going in the right direction and making good and healthy life choices!

I just got back from my morning hike. It was great!! For some reason I was a lot more out of breath on the way up than I usually am. I know that my time was faster and I had the right shoes on today (thank goodness) but I couldn't seem to quite get enough air in the elevation. I just kept pushing along though and summitted. It always feels SO good to round that final section of the mountain. Then the fun part begins and I get to feel my thighs working hard all the way down.
emoticon

I went and bought a new hiking pack & pedometer (see today's blog). It's nice and I think I will really like both of them. Unfortunately I have a bad habit of not carrying any ID on me when I hike or walk. My husband is ALWAYS on me about it too. This morning a woman in Phoenix was hit by a car while jogging and she didn't have any ID so they were unable to identify her or notify her family (sadly she later died). I finally decided I really HAVE to have some form of ID on me all the time. I'm laminating a copy of my drivers license to put in my hiking pack today. (RIP to the jogger, what an awful thing).

I don't really want to end on a sad note, so let me think of something good to share. Hmmm....I'm loving the weather up here!! It's only 89 right now and it's noon outside. Why oh why do I live in Phoenix?!? LOL! (I'm a native Phoenician too)

Have a beautiful day team!

Morning ladies. What a day yesterday turned out to be for the east coast! If you haven't heard, there was an earthquake here, with the center being in VA and it was felt from NC to Maine. I live in PA. I did not feel it myself but a co-worker did and others around the area did. I'm sort of bummed that I didn't feel it. It goes to show that you never know what to expect anymore.

I lost 1/2 pound at TOPS last night. Yay! Now I have 2 weeks until another weigh in as we have a fair going on here and there would just be too many people missing to have one.

I called the doc and I have an appt this afternoon at 2:45 to see what's up with my wrist. It gave a really loud pop this morning but it still is achy and swollen. I'll let you know tomorrow what he thinks it is.

Take care.

Welcome to the group LADYBUG.

Seriously getting back on track. I tracked all my food today and came in under my calorie range. I am really planning ahead. Especially with breakfast and lunch. Still need to get some exercise. I see the neurosurgeon on Friday and hope to be released to do more.

Hey Team!!!
How is everyone's day going? Our weather is starting to turn colder too, and the leaves are turning color a bit....so fall is coming. Although apparently the almanac says that the snow won't fly until Mid october, so that's really exciting. HAHA.
Anyways, question for you all.....do any of you or have you swam lanes? I'm going to try it on thursday with my bf and I'm a little nervous....lol. Just wondered if anyone had any pointers?

Tonight the bf and I are going on a 5km/3mile walk after work!

Hi Team!

It's so ironic Donna that you are talking about wearing a jacket and not looking forward to winter because today is one of the hottest days of the year here in Phoenix. It's supposed to be 116 degrees!
emoticon

It's been the hottest August on record. ICK, ICK, ICK! I hate the heat...HATE it.
emoticon

Hence, that is why I'm up in Prescott where it is currently a lovely 90 degrees outside. YAY!
I got back about an hour ago from my daily Thumb Butte hike. I feel really good today and super motivated. I wrote in my blog, of course, about things I learned while hiking. It's amazing what goes through your mind when you are by yourself without distractions.

My Uncle just stopped by and offered to take me to dinner tonight. It'll be fun. A nice break from my solitude here. I will definitely be making a good and healthy choice. YUM!

Better run! Have a great day everyone!

PS-Have fun school shopping Jen!

Morning gang. It's a beautiful day outside, except it's a little cool for my liking. Down to low 50s this morning. I even wore a lite jacket to work. UGH! Hate to think of that coming already.

There were 9 of us to de-bone and chop up 125 pounds of chicken last night to get it ready for soup. We also did 10 pounds of beef. We put it all in buckets, including the broth, and it will be frozen until mid Sept. when we have the tractor show. We got started by 6:30 and were done by 8. We got everything cleaned up and DH and I were home before 9.

My wrist did not fair too well doing it though. It swelled and hurt more than it ever had. I think I'll call tomorrow to try and get an appt for tomorrow afternoon. Where I go has same day appts and I get off work tomorrow at 1. It's probably tendonitis but guess I'd better make sure.

Catch ya later. Have a good day.

Hi Team!

I am taking Hana and a friend shopping again today. She didn't find much last week so we are trying a new mall. I plan to walk 5 miles inside the mall while they shop. Tonight is Back-to-School night, so it will be a full day.

I hope your day is healthy and happy!

Hi Team! My weekend up north got rained out, but something else came up. My brother in law's mom is not doing well, so he and my sister are going out to Oregon for the week to be with her. My sister asked me to watch the kids for the rest of the week so I've been trying to get a few things done here. My niece is old enough to watch the other 2 during the day, but I still want to take Wednesday off so that I only have to be gone Tuesday and Thursday. That means a big day at work tomorrow since I have to run both payroll and accounts payable. I also won't get many chances to check in with you this week.

Mom is a little doing better. She even ate 3 meals today which is saying a lot lately. We went into town today for her to get a nutritional drip instead of the Vitamin C drip as was planned. I hope that she will still be able to get back on the Vit C soon.

Glad to hear everyone is doing well. Keep up the good work and I'll check back in when I can.

Hello Everybody~!
Sounds like some good weekends happened! I had a pretty good weekend, until Sunday morning happened and all hell seemed to break lose....lol. It's okay now. But OMG. Just one of those days. Anyways-I'm looking forward to this week! I have some extra things to get done around the house, but I want to get them done before the weekend, so I'm not so overwhelmed and I have all my exercise planned--so here's hoping for an excellent week.

Hi Team!

Nice Cops! Sounds like lots of fun!

Well I'm typing this from my parents home in Prescott. I decided, at the spur of the moment, to come up here for a few days. I will be doing lots of hiking and walking for sure. As soon as I finish typing this I will be on my way to hike Thumb Butte. I'm going to tackle that beast today and hopefully every day I'm here! I got some new hiking shoes for my birthday and I'm dying to try them out.
emoticon

Today is weight and measurement day for me. I'm pleased with the results. I was hoping for an extra pound or two, since I've been going to the gym each day, but I'll take the loss I got (2.2 lbs). I lost a total of 3.25 inches too! I measure my chest, arms, legs, neck, abdomen and pannus (the ugly belly hang...ick!) every Monday when I weigh in.
emoticon

After exercise I'm going to hit B&N to buy The Help. I tried to buy it yesterday but it was closed by half an hour when I got there.

I better get a move on everyone. I'm not burning calories just sitting here. The longer I wait, the warmer it gets outside.

Have an AWESOME day!!

Morning team. I had a fantabulous weekend. Saturday we went to the wildlife park and walked around for 3 hours and took the safari for another hour. We were there from 11am to 3pm. Then we went out to eat then delivered the girls to their parents and/or other grandparent then came home and took a much needed shower and relaxed the rest of the evening.

Sunday was spent at an amusement park where we walked and rode rides for 3 hours, not counting the hour that was spent while the prizes were being drawn and eating. This year, they only got 8 large prizes instead of a lot of smaller prizes so I thought I didn't have a chance. I almost never win when there are very few prizes. On the 7th draw they were drawing for a $100 Walmart gift card and I got it. I couldn't believe it. That keeps my streak alive as I have won something every year that I've gone, which is 8 now. WooHoo for me!! We left there about 3 and we weren't on the road 5 minutes and it started to rain so we were lucky there. Got home about 4:45 and watched a movie and got ready for the work week.

It will be busy for us as well this week as we are going camping at a tractor show this weekend so have to get the camper ready. Plus it's fair time here starting on Thursday. I dought I will get to the fair until Monday though, I'll have that day off. Friday is our 22nd wedding anniversary. We were going to go to the fair to see the only classic country act for the whole fair but now were going camping instead. I'll probably go to the fair the rest of the week after work too.

Tonight DH and I will eat supper quick then head to some friends to help cut up chicken for another tractor show that is coming up in September. Can you tell we belong to several different tractor clubs?

Back to work. Hope everyone has a good day.

Hi Everyone!

I am headed to the office today. It will probably be a long day. My deputy director was on vacation last week and I was gone the previous week so there will be a lot of catching up to do.

Tomorrow will be a shopping day with Hana and a friend of hers. We will be going to a mall in Virginia that she loves. That is one good thing about living in the DC area. MD/DC/VA are all right together in a relatively small space and it is easy to travel from one to the other in not much time (if it isn't rush hour!)

Craig leaves for Florida on Thursday to visit his mother. He will be gone until Monday night. I always consider these trips to be a little vacation for me, too. Life just takes one a different rhythm when he is gone. My days feel longer because I am not stopping to focus on dinner at a specific time, etc.

Then Hana begins school next Monday. Where has the summer gone?emoticon

Have a wonderful, healthy day today!

Hi Team,

Been a real hot weekend here. 97 degrees yesterday and 90 today. The first time we've reached the 90's all summer.

Someone gave me 30 pounds of tomatoes yesterday. I spent the last evening skinning them and slicing them. Then I put them in the food dehydrator. I love putting them in spaghetti sauces for that fresh tomato flavor.

Plus we had a big chef salad for dinner last night and tonight we are having a shrimp salad. Yum!

No grandkids tonight! I will hopefully get a good night sleep and have a 'me' day tomorrow.

Great job on your exercising, Shannon.

Hope you're all enjoying your weekend.

How's everyone today? I'm doing pretty good so far. I just woke up about forty minutes ago, so it's pretty hard to complain about anything yet.
emoticon

I did really well in the gym yesterday! I spent 35 minutes on the elliptical and then 35 on the treadmill. I almost forgot my extra 15 minute BLC challenge but remembered mid walk on the treadmill. I actually did 20 more just because I felt so energized. It was great!
emoticon ( I still got in one last mile of walking outside last night too.)

I wish I wasn't such a 'sweater' in the gym. I'm literally soaked when I'm done exercising. Not so much my clothes but my head is completely wet, like I just stepped out of the shower. My face also gets as red as a beet. I'm kind of somewhere in the middle of being embarrased and being proud of the fact that I'm working so hard. It takes me a while to cool down and 'un-pink'. Perhaps I should just start calling it my 'gym glow'.
emoticon

I'm not sure what today will bring yet. I may work a bit on my dream board. I may go out to lunch with a friend. I may go to B&N and buy a book I've been wanting to read (The Help--I saw the movie and it was good. I heard the book was fantastic). This day is full of possibilities for sure! No matter what I plan, I will be going to the gym first so it's done and I have time to cool off and return to a normal shade of non-tan before I go out.
emoticon

I better get a move on ladies. Have an amazing day!

Hello, my friends!

Sorry I didn't make it here yesterday. For the first time since returning from vacation, I got 8 hours of sleep! Craig got up early and drove Hana to school to catch the bus for a volleyball tournament. Then my parents arrived and were here most of the day. Before I knew it, the day was gone and I'd never checked in.

Today is another busy one and I imagine the whole week will be that way between work and getting Hana ready to go back to school a week from tomorrow.

I hope you all have a fabulous day!

Janet, enjoy your time away!

Good morning fellow Sparkers!!!

How are you doing today!?! I hope you're full of motivation, enthusiasm, happiness, wellness and energy!

I'm feeling pretty good today. I'm not sure what the day will bring but I know for SURE it will bring 1 hour and 15 minutes (for my fellow BLC Blue Team) in the gym. I'm looking forward to going and will be leaving as soon as I'm done with my daily SP posts/points.

I read a really great quote in a friends blog yesterday and I'd like to share it with you:

It is far better to dare mighty things,
to win with glorious triumphs,
even though checkered by failure,
than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much.
Because they live in the grey twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat.

That quote speaks volumes!!

Have an AMAZING DAY!!

Hi Team! Just checking in real quick before heading up north. It is already raining up there so I know I'll be driving in the rain. I just hope it clears up for the afternoon.

I didn't get a chance to post yesterday. Mom had a reaction to her vitamin c drip so they had her take a Benadryl which made her even more sleepy in the afternoon. I'm glad she got some rest, but it made it difficult to get things done while trying to be quiet. I'm going to try and do a few more things before heading out, but I won't stress if they don't get done.

I probably won't check in until late Sunday. I'll be back early since I need to read in church in the evening, but then we will be celebrating my Dad's B-day Sunday afterwards. Enjoy your weekend! I hope mine doesn't get rained out!

WOW! So much to respond to. I am a bit overwhelmed. Please know that I have read all the postings and you are all in my thoughts and prayers.

I took my granddaughters swimming last night and it was wonderful. I forgot how much I liked getting in the pool. It makes me be almost painless. I told DH that we needed to do the membership thing again so I can go after work. I have to do this for myself. Obviously no one will do it for me. Unfortunately the pool is closing for 2 weeks starting August 27th. But I plan on going on a regular basis after that.

Thank you all for being so active on this chat thread. I really enjoy reading about how everyone is doing and also I like to be given the opportunity to encourage and pray for you and yours when needed.

YOU'RE ALL THE BEST!! I think I'll keep ya. emoticon

Thanks for your input Donna. I am also a 'country girl' but I find that I'm more of a modern country listener. I do like some 'old school' every now and then though. However, for getting really pumped and going it seems like more rock tunes do the trick. I'm still working on a new cardio list everyone so any input or song suggestions are welcome.

I had a funny thing happen at the grocery store today. I'm actually going to blog about it. It's strange what emotions can go through you while you're shopping for healthy food.

Anyone have any plans for the weekend?? I don't have anything specific yet. One of my daughters, the one that lives at home, starts college on Monday. The other two, that go up North, start a week from Monday. My middle daughter is still at home and is dragging her feet about moving up. She's so funny...such a home body. I'm hoping being up there will get her more involved with the activities in Flagstaff. It's such a beautiful town with SO much to do! We'll see how it goes.

I hope you all have a beautiful weekend! I'll post tomorrow. I'm off to the gym soon.
YAY! Loving it!
Adios from AZ,

Morning Team!
Congrats to all those who got their exercise in!
@Jen--that must be one huge mall! LOL.

I got 2 bouts of exercise in yesterday--biking for 40 mins at lunch and then a 3mile walk after work with my boyfriend.

Today is the last day of the work week! I'm so pumped. I have a to do list as long as my arm, and I"m sure I won't get all of it done, but I hope to get most of it crossed off this weekend. And once work is done I'm headed on another long bike ride! Here's to seeing a good loss on Sunday!!!

Morning team. I have lots going on this weekend starting tonight. We are getting 3 DGDs to stay the night then tomorrow we are going to Lake Tobias in Halifax, PA. It is a safari type zoo with lots of different and strange animals, a safari ride, petting zoo and so on. It's only $5 per person to get in and $5 each for the safari and the safari is about an hour long. It's great for young and old alike. We'll take all the kids home Saturday evening as we have my work's annual picnic on Sunday at Knoebel's amusment park in Elysburg, PA. We go every year. Great fun! But before we can do all that, I have to work until 6 tonight.

I am much less achy today. Had a good night's sleep last night and am raring to go today. I did my Yoga with weights this morning. I'm sure I'll get some kind of cardio in this evening with 3 girls to chase after.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Jen-WTG on the walking. Wish I could get my hubby to go on walks with me. I'm jealous.

Shannon-I don't know what type of music you like, but I like classic country. I try to start out with a couple of slower songs then get into the faster ones. Sorry, not much help.

Welcome Kelly! Glad you found us.

Good morning, Team!

Yesterday I took Hana and a friend to a big mall about 30 minutes from here. The girls wanted to shop on their own so I mall-walked for around 5 miles! I cruised both levels of the mall at full speed before I allowed myself to do any shopping. Then I went back through the entire mall as I shopped. Later I cruised it several times over without stopping. It was a great way to get some walking in!

Craig and I are planning to escape later this morning and take a hike. He has gotten into it! I have some things I have to take care of first. We have guests coming for dinner tonight so I want everything prepped that I can do ahead of time before we take off.

I, too, hope that all the migraines and health problems that are occurring in the team and in families will be resolved soon. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Welcome to the team, Kelly!emoticon

Have a fabulous day!

Hi everyone and Jen, welcome back! Way to go on your weight loss hon and getting into the 180's, I am so proud of you.

THis past week has bee a bad one for me as I have been laid up with my back. The doctor took xrays last week and I get the results tomorrow. If nothing shows up I will be going for an MRI. Hubby's physio therapy continues and he is still dealing with the pain of the physio. He won't be 100% for a few more months yet although he was hoping to go back to work in September. His physio therapist says he is no where near ready to return.

I work with him twice a day as there are a couple of exercises where I must push down on his knee to help him get a better angle. This is the hardest for him but he is such a good patient and endures the pain without complaining.

I want to say I am doing well but I continue to make poor choices with my nutrition. I eat healthy foods but the snacking at night has become almost habitual and I need to stop. I know I am the master if my destiny , I just wish I could keep reminding myself of this each day.
On a positive not I have been extremely active with digging in the garden the past few days and have returned to walking. Hoping to make it back to power walking soon but must work up to that. My bowling league starts up in a couple of weeks and that will be good for me.

Janet, I do hope your migraines will go away soon and I send my best wishes for your mom to get better.

I have not had a chance to read everyones posts but will try to make some time tomorrow and comment.
I am wishing everyone a great day ahead.

Hi Team! I can't believe it is already the end of the work week for me. Someone at work reminded me I shouldn't feel bad if I can't find time to be on the computer at home since I've got plenty here to keep me occupied. Mom is feeling a little better. It seems like mornings are the worst as her pain medication is run out by then. At least she is eating a little better. She even requested tuna casserole on Tuesday for dinner. It wasn't my first choice, but she ate and that was worth the heartburn it caused me.

I was so miserable on Wednesday. I went to bed Tuesday night with a migraine and didn't get much sleep, still waking up with it. I managed to get through the day until my chiropractor appointment. He always asks how I"m doing and whenever it is bad I always tell him I'm glad to see him! It was a hard adjustment and I still wasn't feeling well enough to go to Zumba (so you know I was hurting.) I'm feeling better today. My backaches are a major trigger for them, but stress and foods can also cause them and I really think the tuna casserole heartburn was the main cause. As for treating my migraines, I don't think I'd do a fruit/veggie juice diet to treat them. I think it would trigger more. I used to have them at least once a week. Since I started going to the chiropractor I usually get them once a month and usually around my TOM. Butterfly, you might suggest to your mom to try a chiropractor. I swear by mine for more than just getting rid of many migraines.

I took tomorrow off from the gardens so I can take my mom to get her vitamin c drip. I'm so glad she is starting back on them. I really think that is one of the reasons her tumors started to grow back. She stopped taking the drip back in December. It shouldn't take too long and I'll be back home in the afternoon. I've got a lot to do since I'm planning on going up north to visit friends this weekend. Even though I'll be thinking of my mom and all the work to do around here, I know I need the break. It will be good to visit with everyone up there too.

I'll try and stop in tomorrow night since I won't leave until Saturday morning. Glad to hear most of you are doing great. I wish I could share some positive results, too. Jen, I'm glad you brought up Dedrie. I'm worried about her, too. Hope she finds some time to check in before the end of the month. (Gosh, that is coming up soon!)

Enjoy your Friday!

Good morning Sparkers!!

I hope everyone is having an amazing day today! If not, try and get your mind to shift in a positive and productive direction. Remember YOU control your attitude! It's a little thing that makes a BIG difference!!
emoticon

I had a terrific breakfast of an egg white omelet with a small amount of mozzarella cheese, onions, green bell pepper and roma tomatoes. I also had a glass of V8 juice. It was D-lish!
emoticon

I'll be going to the gym shortly. I'm waiting for my iPod to charge up. My plan later today is to update some songs on there with a bit more of a cardio friendly mix. Anyone have any song ideas? What really gets you pumped, motivated and moving?
emoticon

Last night was good. I went to dinner at my Mom's house. She made home made chicken noodle soup with dumplings and peach pie. I had one medium bowl of soup and passed on the pie. After dinner was over, I decided to walk home! I did the 2.5 mile walk in 30 minutes. It felt SUPER! (That was on top of the hour I had at the gym earlier).
emoticon

I got on the scale this morning, it's not my normal weigh day but I'm a part of the August Challenge so I had to weigh in, and I lost! I'm pleased but want to keep pushing to my usual weigh in day (Monday). Actually I want to keep pushing for another 60+ pounds!

I better get going. The gym is calling my name!! LOL!
Remember team....

Hi Team!

I'm new and excited to get going with this team! Looks like a lot of great posts here!!! Can't wait to get to know you all and address you personally.

Quick intro :
I'm 30 years old (will be 31 in 2 weeks), married to the man of my dreams, have a 7 yr old girl, 6 yr old boy. Live in Colorado and LOVE living here! It's a very active state and what helped get me going on my journey. I never had a problem with weight until after kids and getting a little too comfortable with life.. Too many sweets and not enough exercise. Finally one day I woke up and realized I gotta get busy living! I live for my family and have found that I am much happier living a healthy lifestyle. I've lost 42 lbs and am in maintain-mode. I really think maintain/toning is a little harder than losing.. What do you think? Anyways, I'm really loving weight training and like to get my cardio done on the elliptical, treadmill, kickboxing, zumba, run outside or whatever I can come up with that day. I like to change things up.

I'm super excited to be here!

Hope you all have a wonderful day !

Hey Guys!
I guess I've been slacking on my posting the past couple days. I've just been slacking at work, and indulging a bit too much in snacks after dinner. OOPS. So I'm back at it hard for the next 12 days until my vacation to the parents house. HAHA. Yes that's my vacation this fall. Anyways, I hope everyone is doing well this week!

Hi Team!

I'm so sorry that it took me this long to get to this thread. Things have just been so busy since I got back. There was a ton of laundry to do and work to catch up on. I have to leave in an hour to drop my son off at the service station to pick up his Jeep, then I am taking Hana and a friend shopping for back-to-school clothes, etc. I have guests coming for dinner tomorrow night and a house that desperately needs to be cleaned. Whew! It's hard work to come back from vacation!emoticon

Thanks so much for the welcomes. I had a fabulous time. I will blog about it when I get a few minutes, but here is the short version:

DH and I ended up having to go on this "family vacation" without kids. No one else could come by the time it rolled around. We had a really nice time together. We really needed this break from everything. We were in a cabin in the mountains of W VA where there is no wireless or cellular service, no tv, no telephone, etc. We relaxed. I read almost 4 books during the week. We walked and hiked a LOT!. I logged 45 miles in 7 days! I ate really well and only splurged twice - on an ice cream cone, both times.

I was thrilled to come back and to have broken through my physical and mental plateau of 190. That is my lowest SP weight back in January, 2009. For months I tried and couldn't go lower and finally just drifted into maintenance that went from about 190-195. Then when we moved last year I gained about 10-15 pounds about the maintenance range. Now I have finally reached the 180s! I am really psyched!

The walking, the weight loss and the rest, plus religiously using my lymphodema machine twice daily has helped my legs a lot. I am feeling much better all around.

Janet, I am definitely praying for your Mom and for you and your family.

Cheryl, You have been dealing with so much, I hope that things are finally on the upswing for you.

Donna, I'm sorry it rained on your camping trip, but glad that you finally got some rain!

Cynthia, Thanks! I am so excited!

Suzzy, Is hubby back to 100% yet?

Butterfly, Welcome Back! I hope your Mom finds something that helps her migraines.

Shannon, Way to go on getting back to the gym! It sounds like you have been really busy!

Lindsay, Congrats on those pounds down and on all that exercise!

Josephine, I really enjoy gardening, too!

New Donna (I'm not sure how to distinguish you two Donna's yet), It sounds like you are a teacher getting ready to go back to school. When does it start?

One more thing.........................I am really worried about Dedrie. She hasn't been around at all this month and that is totally out of character for her. Something is very wrong. Has anyone heard anything?

Have a good day!

Jen

Good morning team. I'm feeling realy sore and run down today. I mowed the lawn yesterday and while trimming, I stepped in a hole and twisted my ankle, yes the bad one. It hurt for a while but I kept mowing. It seems okay this morning. Then while still mowing, I got bit by some kind of insect, first on one leg, then the other. Then I was mowing on with the tractor and had to get off to move some dead brush that had fallen and didn't see the briar so I got stabbed by that. I don't think I was supposed to mow. LOL It also agravated my wrist so it was really swollen last night. Later I went for a walk and was feeling pretty good for a while then about a 1/2 mile from home, my foot was really hurting. I almost didn't make it back. I knew I couldn't call my DH as he was at his CPR class so I just walked slowly home. I then took a shower and laid on the couch until DH got home, which BTW was 10pm. I never thought the class would take that long. Needless to say, that was well after my usual bedtime and I'm dragging today.

Because the CPR class lasted so long last night and it was for his work, DH is taking off early today and going to work at the woman's house that he is replacing the stairs for. Then he'll come home for supper then go back this evening for a while. He is such a workaholic.

Well I guess that's about all for now. Have a great day.

Hi Team,

Sure not many folks posting.

Butterfly, I agree with Donna. Personally I don't think the veggie/fruit juice diet is very healthy. You need protein, carbs and lots more to sustain yourself. When I was 17 I tried a fruit and veggie only diet and ended up getting really sick and run down.

Shannon, you are doing awesome. All that walking and exercise will certainly pay off soon. I'm glad you're daughter is doing OK.

Donna, hope your wrist if feeling better.

I have been doing real good on staying in my calorie range and drinking lots of water. I hope to see some kind of results soon.

My 3 granddaughters are staying with us for 3 days. It's sort of the last hoorah before school starts. Tomorrow night I am going to take them swimming at the local pool. I haven't been to the pool in over a year but I really enjoy it. Maybe this will encourage me to get back into swimming.

Hang in there, everyone. We can do this!!

Morning Everyone!
emoticon

So far today is a great day! I had the insurance adjuster here for the roof and they are going to cover replacing it since it's got storm damage from our last big storm. YAY!!! I'm so relieved because I though I was going to have to pay to have my roof done and the estimates I was getting were astronomical! She's supposed to call me tonight with her full work up.
Second good thing is the window guy is here and he's replacing the two windows by my front door. One was broken when my Great Danes were rough housing in the foyer, and the other one just needs to be replaced so it can match.
emoticon

I had a good breakfast and am looking forward to heading to the gym after the window guy leaves. I'm not even really sore, which I'm surprised at! I can feel a bit in my glutes but mostly I just feel tons of motivation to get back in there.
emoticon

I better get moving. I hope each of you have a terrific day! Carpe diem!!

Morning gang. I'm at work until 1 this afternoon then it's home to get busy. I have to get the grass mowed, then supper fixed, call my DIL about this weekend, go for a walk and who knows what else. DH has to take a CPR class this evening so I'll be home alone. His company has decided that all supervisors should be certified in CPR, which is a good thing, but he's not looking forward to taking the class. It will last 2-3 hours, depending on how much teaching everyone needs.

I lost 1/4 pound at TOPS last night. I'm pleased I lost but it's just frustrating becaused I walked or exercised for 22 miles last week and other did half that and lost more. I don't understand that at all. Oh well, I'll just keep plugging along. I did my Yoga with weights this morning. It was a little easier but there's one move that is very hard. Eventually it will get easier but until then, whew!

Hope everyone has a good day.

Butterfly-I really don't have an answer for you on your mom's migraines, I've never been plagued with them but have seen others who are and see what they go through. I for one would not do the veggie/fruit drink diet as you need more than just that to sustain your well being. Just watch her closely. Hope things work out okay.

Hi Team!
Today is winding down and it's been a good one. You may have noticed that I was MIA for a few days (since Thursday actually). It was my bday and my best friend came in from Illinois and stayed until Monday afternoon. We had a really great time! Friday morning we went for a hike in the desert (he said I was trying to kill him...LOL). We went about 4 miles but he kept insisting it 'must have been 8'. Good lord! LOL!!

Later that afternoon I found out my oldest daughter was admitted to the hospital. She's OK now but it was a bit scary for two days. Both he and I went up to Flagstaff and stayed at her house until Sunday at about noon. She was feeling so much better, she suggested that we go sightseeing while he was up in N. AZ. We decided to go to the Grand Canyon, since he had never been, and it was less then 100 miles from her house. He really enjoyed it. Although he again insisted I was 'trying to kill him' with all my walking and hiking. LOL! I think he realized how out of shape he actually is and it was very motivating for him to start exercising.
emoticon

Unfortunately, he had to go home yesterday. I've been a bit down in the dumps about it today but decided to take my blues and roll them into something positive. I actually went to the gym. (I haven't worked out in the gym for almost 2 years....I'm embarrased to type that but it's true). I'm SO proud of myself for going! I had a terrific beginning workout too! I did 35 minutes on the elliptical and 20 minutes on the treadmill. I feel like a million bucks!!
emoticonemoticon

So...long story short, I went off food calculating for a few days but turned it around and increased my exercise intensity and finally stopped letting the gym intimidate me.
emoticon

I'm planning on going again in the morning. I'll see how my body feels about that when I wake up! LOL!
emoticon

Hope everyone has a SUPER night! Sleep well and reach for the stars!

Hey everyone, I wanted to send a question out there and see if anyone has any advice on the matter. My mom suffers from horrible migranes on a daily basis and she has tried so many things to get rid of them. Now she has seen this diet that involves only drinking the juice from veggies or fruit. She saw it on a documentary on netflix and there was a lady that had migranes and they went away by doing this diet. But is it safe? I worry about her because these migranes have disabled her vision and her body and on top of it she has a heart problem. Does anyone know about this diet or the safety of only drinking juices from veggies and fruits? Im not going to stop her from doing it but if anyone has some insight or signs I need to watch out for please let me know.I worry about her so much and she just lives in the apartment right under mineemoticon. Thanks everyone

On another note I have started drinking water, which if you knew me is a feat in itself.hehe and my husband has agreed to start doing Zumba every night with me to help keep me motivated. And I went to the grocery store last night and got fruits and vegies and whole wheat breads and yogurt. I still love my homemade nachos and lasagna but I think if I can incorporate healthy a little at a time I will be able to get to the point where I can eat that way all the time and my favorite place Taco Bell will be a once and awhile splurg.

Kopsbaby- Awesome on the walk it out game, I love the Wii for those games. Have the Zumba on it and I play the Micheal Jackson game with my daughter. After that I feel like my arm is going to fall off.hehe. Hope your wrist is ok!
