Hi Team! Sorry I haven't caught up with all your posts yet. It really has been a crazy week. I've got a few places to go this weekend, but overall it is a working weekend for me trying to get my home business up-to-date. The weather was icky sticky today and should be again tomorrow. Perfect days for staying inside and getting some work done.

I've been doing better this week with eating as I was in charge of a few meals. I also picked up some fruits and veggies to snack on this weekend. We'll see how things turn out.

Have a great weekend everyone! I'll try and check in again tomorrow and get caught up.

Good morning team. I hope that everything is now resolved with my son. I'm feeling a lot less stressed today. But I am going to call him this weekend and give him a piece of my mind. He simply just has to get his act together and start making his own way. We cannot do this any more. And what if we needed the money? Who are we going to turn to? Certainly not him because he never has it. It just makes me angry and upset and we have to start looking out for ourselves because one day, probably very soon, DH will decide to retire then our funds will be extremely limited. Thanks to everyone for your concern.

It's a glorious day here in PA. Not a cloud in the sky. All in all it's supposed to be a decent weekend. Quite warm tomorrow with a chance of T-storms in the afternoon but they'll be hit or miss. As of 5:45 this evening my weekend officially starts. I can hardly wait!

I hope everyone has a great weekend. Happy Canada Day to all our CanadaSparkFriends. Happy 4th of July weekend to everyone in the USA.

Jen-Hope you have a great workout and a great visit with your parents.

Hi Team!

I have a busy day ahead. Hana has a private swim lesson this morning. She wants to work on her breathing and stroke technique. Then we will grab lunch and I will drop her off at the place where she is volunteering this summer. It is a place that provides information, assistance and language instruction to Asian immigrants and community members. Hana hopes to work on her Chinese while volunteering there.

After I drop her off, I am heading to the gym and then to run some errands. Tomorrow morning we are headed to PA to visit my parents so I have packing and prep for that to do. We will be back home by late Sunday in order to go to our local 4th of July celebration which is very big in Frederick.

Donna, I hope things work out with your son. So sorry this is happening. Enjoy camping!

Carolina, Yes, I will be firmly in your club. Then you can remind me of all my advice while your daughter was gone!

Have a great day!

Jen

Hi team!!

Even when I am on vacation, I can't get to bed at a decent hour. Yesterday I fell asleep at 3 am even though I was very tired. I have to regulate my routines and get some sense into this. Let's try again tomorrow.

I finally exercise with a Zumba video. It was fun, fast and really rhythmic. I found a 15 mins. video on Youtube. It made me sweat for a while and I hope this makes me go to sleep quickly. Everyone was right, I liked it lots!

DONNA, I hope things work out for you and your son. Now that we use computers for everything, this shouldn't be happening, right? Let's pray for good news for tomorrow.

JEN, welcome to the club... but 4 months sound like such a long time (mine is only gone for 3 weeks). Focus on what you already know, it's a great opportunity. emoticon

Have a good Friday. I am hoping for good news on my scale tomorrow morning to account for the month of June.

Morning team. The problem from yesterday is still not resolved and I am very stressed right now. I feel like bawling. There is a lot of money on the line on my end and because this company hasn't received it yet, my son could still go to jail even though I have paid his debt. The wire has been re-sent and I'm waiting confirmation that this company got it. I am on edge and could melt any second. God help me, and my son because I'm going to strangle him. Not really but sometimes.

Last night I had just started to mow and DH came home so he took over while I fixed supper. It wasn't too much, just leftover pot roast and potatoes. Then I cleaned things up, started the dishwasher and went back out to mow. Got that done then went into the camper to get it ready for the weekend. Swept it out and shook out all the rugs. Then I did 12 minutes and 1.3 miles on my Gazelle. Got DHs lunch ready for today then about 7:30 we went for ice cream. I opted for a small, fresh strawberry sundae. Mmm, good. I took my time eating it. In fact I was still eating it when we got home. By this time it was after 8 so I put on my nightgown and chilled until bedtime. A good evening.

The camper is about ready. There is always last minute things to put in but we are so anxious to go and just be together.

Catch ya later. Have a great day.

Jen-Glad you had a good time last night. Congrats on getting all the paperwork done with Hana's application. It sounds very daunting but will be worth it in the end if she is excepted. Hope your contractor shows up.

Hi Team!

We had a great time eating crab last night. Hana was so happy as she could live in a big tub of crab. It is her favorite food. Whenever I ask what she wants to eat, I can guarantee that "crab" will be the first thing out of her mouth.

We did another "big" last night. We completed and submitted Hana's application to study abroad in China. She had 9 essays to write plus a letter to her potential host family. I also had to write a letter to them. Now we have all of the teacher recommendations and health exams to complete. We have been working on this for awhile now, but submitting the application (and the fee) made it real. My daughter could really be going away to spend 4 months in China. I know that this would be a fabulous opportunity for any teen and especially for Hana, given that she would spend some real quality time in her homeland, but how will I survive that?

The other person who may not survive for long is the contractor who is supposed to be here today working on my deck/porch and is not! I am really getting fed up with this guy!! emoticon

Have a great day!

Hello from Huston!!

I had a pretty boring day which meant I had more time for a good, long walk. I was able to complete 6 miles but it took me a long time to "warm up my engines". At about mile 3, I started to feel my legs moving freely. Before that, I had to make a huge effort. I don't understand why some days are a lot easier than others. Has this happened to any of you? Last week it was easy, today it was torture.

SARAH, are you tracking your food and exercise? Maybe there is something you are missing, either too much fat or not enough cardio. The scale not moving is good news, though. I stayed at the same weight for about 4 weeks. It was frustrating until I figure it out.

DONNA, emoticon now the scale at TOPS is working with you.

JEN, crabs are one of my favorite foods. It sounds wonderful. Have a good time and congratulations to your daughter. She deserves the celebration since straight A's is an accomplishment. emoticon

Have a restful evening,

Carolina M.

Hi everyone!

Sorry it's been a little bit since I've posted. I've been crazy busy, but doing well. I started working out on my lunch break with a friend and co-worker. So I'm hoping that kick starts me in the activity department a little bit. I didn't lose anything this past week, but didn't gain either. This past weekend we had a big BBQ with lots of good food and good friends so that probably had something to do with my weight staying still. I feel really good though (I'm not stuffing myself any more and my reflux issues have really diminished over the last few weeks of healthier eating). I think that definitely counts for something!!

Can you guys believe it's almost July?!! Time is just flying by! Do you all have fun plans? We're going to a graduation party on Saturday, then Sunday we'll go see fireworks locally, and Monday my hubby is taking me out for my birthday (we're going to Seasons 52). It should be a good weekend!

DONNA - sorry to hear about the troubles with both your son and your sister. My brother traveled a bit of a rough road growing up (he actually did spend a little time in jail) and he's doing so much better now. I hope your son finds a better, more stable path soon.

JEN - Hope you enjoy the crab feast!! I love doing all you can eat crab legs with my friends... haven't done it in probably a year though. And Congrats to Hana!!

CAROLINA - That's good that you went for a check-up -- here's to hoping that the results are completely uneventful!

JANET - when my mom got sick I bought two books that center around eating healthfully to specifically fight cancer. One is called The Cancer Fighting Kitchen and the other is called Anti-Cancer - A New Way of Life. If you want some cool healthy recipes with a different twist, I'd recommend checking them out. Try to get enough rest - I know about those sleepless nights... hang in there.

CHERYL - I hope DH strikes it right ;-) Congrats to your daughter!! That's wonderful news!

SUZZY - glad you're husband is on the road to recovery. Hope you're both doing well.

Hope you're all having a great week!

Morning team. Today started out real well until I got a call from my oldest son. Long story short, he took an advance from an employer a couple of months ago then he lost his job. He didn't have the money to repay and now they called and said that if they didn't have the money by 10:30 this morning he would go to jail and he just started another job. Of course the first person he calls is me. He is a good kid, really he is, but I get so upset with him not being able to hold a job and get his life straight. He has a wife and 3 kids and I didn't want him to go to jail, that wouldn't solve anything, so mom sent the money to the company. He and I are going to have a discussion. This has upset me to no end and it has to stop. Why do we have kids again? Oh yeah, because we love them but sometimes, AARRR!

I also heard from my sister on Monday. She tore a muscle in her bicep at work and hasn't been back to work since 6/19. She goes for an MRI today to see how bad it is and what the next course of action is. She can't seem to cut a break either.

I did really well at TOPS last night. I lost 1 pound. YAY, now to keep it off through the holiday weekend. I'm determined to do this.

This afternoon it's off to the grocery store then home to either fix supper or mow grass, depending on when I get home and how soon DH will be home. More than likely it will be in that order.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Jen-I love crab too. Congrats to Hana, I know you're proud.

Cheryl-Congrats to your daughter too.

Carolina-We really do need to keep up with our yearly appts. Prevention and early detection are our greatest adversaries.

Hi Everyone!

I am heading to the office today. Tonight we are going out for a crab feast to celebrate Hana's year of straight A's! We are so proud of how she has done in her new school. What a change!

Cheryl, Congratulations to your daughter and her accomplishments! You should be proud!

Donna, Good luck at TOPS tonight!

Janet, I hope you get a good night's sleep tonight!

Carolina, Way to go on taking care of yourself. Those check-ups are important.

Suzzy, I hope you are getting a few moments to take care of yourself!

Dedrie, Have a blast!

Hugs,

Jen

Buenas noches!!

I hope everyone is doing all right, working out and eating well. I had appointments for 2 days just to take care of my yearly check up. I skipped it last year and shouldn't have since this is the only thing that is 100% covered by my medical insurance. Everything seemed to be fine. I just have to wait for the test results.

I got news from my dad today. He retired about 8 years ago but never really stopped working. He has been a part time professor in several universities in my country for as long I can remember. He decided to completely stop teaching in September. I am worry only because he'll drive my mom crazy and might decide to stay home "Inactive". He is tired but I hope he starts retirement with plans. We'll see what is next for him.

JEN, I can never really garden and admire people who do. I start Spring with plans that I don't follow through. In another lifetime, I planted flowers and dig and had a blast (my daughter wasn't even born) but haven't been able to recapture that. Thumbs up to you!!

CHERYL, congratulations!! Those are great news.

JANET, hang in there. Planning better meals will help you as well. Keep in touch.

Have a good night rest and let's get up early and start moving,

Carolina M. emoticon

Hi Team! This is another one of those crazy busy weeks for me so I might not be checking in as often. It didn't help that I didn't get very much sleep last night. I went to bed at a decent time, but tossed and turned until I drifted off around 5 am, only to be up at 7:30. I made it through the workday fine, but it was a struggle to drive home safely. I took a 3 hour nap so now I'm trying to get a few things done before heading off to bed. I'm definately going to take my melatonin so I get a good night's sleep tonight!

I got up in time to make a healthy salad for mom and me since Dad is working late. I'm worrying that she isn't eating very well and nutrition is one of the things you can do to fight cancer. I've got to do a little more cooking and planning good meals so I know she's getting the nutrients she needs. Dad's meals aren't so meticulous about this.

Glad everyone is having a good week so far. Keep up the good work! I'll see you later this week.

Trying to help DH get out of town. He is getting ready to go do some gold mining and he is very much the procrastinator. He should have been gone days ago but keeps finding things that he needs done before he can leave. Looks like he might actually get out of town tomorrow. He says 10:00 a.m. I'll bet that it will be more like 3:00 p.m. before he actually leaves.

I got great news this morning. My youngest daughter, who is currently in Australia on a summer work study program, has just found out that she has been accepted to the Journal of International Business and Law. It is a huge honor and she may even get some of her work published. She has only been going to Hofstra for a year and is doing absolutely awesome. I am so proud of her that I'm just bursting.

Morning gang. It is a rainy day today. We could use some. I had to be at work early today for a staff meeting. Not much going on.

Tonight is TOPS. Hope I do better than last week. I need to stay on track and stay focused as this weekend will be hard to resist all the temptations. Hopefully I can counteract some of it with some good walking sessions. Also taking my bike. They are saying it's going to be hot and humid this weekend. My kind of weather. Has to be better than last weekend where it was cold, damp and windy most of the time.

I agree, Jen. Where is everyone?

Catch ya later.

I'm back. That new account hasn't come in yet and I've been to lunch and back. They either got tied up doing something else or decided to go elsewhere I guess. Maybe they'll be in later.

Jen- that sounds like a real workout. As for the mosquitos, they like me too. I get welts from them also that itch like crazy. They might not be as bad as what you are describing but bothersome anyways. You might be developing a more intense allergy to them and you might want to mention it to your doctor the next time you go. I've never heard of anyone dying from them, but just to be on the safe side I'd have it checked out.

Catch y'all later.

Hi Everyone!

I had a great weekend. Between Hana's Gotcha Day Celebration and all the work I got done in the yard, it was a big YIPPEE! Thanks for all the comments on "Gotcha". We have always loved that day!

I spent a total of 7.5 hours working in the yard this weekend. Yesterday's 4-hour stretch was pretty grueling. I decided to remove a 2-foot wide stretch of turf that ran the width of our house. It ran beside a bed of new shrubs and plants that I put in last fall, but the bed is sloped and mowing beside it with our riding tractor is impossible. We always ended up with a big area that had to be weed-whacked. I decided to dig up the turf and spread mulch to extend the bed out farther from the house. It will make our workload much easier in the future and I don't mind having the additional space to plant some new perennials in the fall, but I got an incredible workout doing it. I was swinging a mattock and digging up turf until I thought I would drop. Then I had to carry heavy containers full of turf down through the length of our yard into our "outback" beyond our fence to dump this. I mean to tell you I pushed myself beyond what I thought possible. I was drenched in sweat when I was done, but the shower and dinner afterward felt fabulous!

During my "workout" I was bitten on my arms by about a dozen mosquitoes. My arms are covered with huge welts from the bites. This is the second time that this has happened. I have always reacted to mosquito bites, but never like this. I feel like I have developed some kind of bad allergic reaction to them. The swelling is really unbelievable and I have not scratched them at all. I took a Benadryl before bed last night to prevent scratching in my sleep. Has anyone heard of anything like this before?

Suzzy, I'm so glad that Brian is doing well. I hope he is back home real soon.

Cheryl, Way to go on keeping that pound off!

Carolina, It is great when we can figure out what works for us. Way to go!

Dedrie, I'm still green with envy! Have a blast!

Donna, I hope you had a great camping trip with the granddaughters.

Janet, I'm holding your family in my prayers.

Hugs,

Jen

Morning team. I can't stay long as there is supposed to be a new account coming in any moment that I have to open.

Camping was great with the girls. Very little fussing which pleases us. I got in a couple of walks and kicked the ball around some on Saturday. I hadn't been able to do that in over a year. Felt good.

Eating was kept under control this weekend too. A real plus for me when we're camping and all the different foods.

I'll try to catch you later.

Suzzy-Glad your hubby is doing so well. Sure hope he can come home soon.

Jen-The Gotch Celebration does sound good. I too was adopted but have never heard of this. Sounds great.

Hi everyone!

It has been a quiet day. I ate lunch with some friends. It was a home cooked meal with Salvadorean dishes that I don't dare to cook. I was good and did not go over my calories. I am really motivated to loose some OUNCES before the end of the month.

JEN, the "Gotcha" celebration sounds very special. It really shows how happy you all were to receive her in your family.

JANET, try the SP videos. When I don't have enough time, I picked either the Jump Start, Bootcamp Day 1 or Kickboxing. It only takes 10 mins. and you burned about 150 calories. You can repeat them if you have more time. Maybe these solve your problem with exercising and time.

DEDRIE, you're making me crave your BBQ. I am glad you are having such a wonderful time. It makes all the hard work of the year worth it, right?

CHERYL, have fun with your mom tomorrow. I was just thinking about it this morning actually and I only see mine twice a year if we can coordinate schedules. She is out of the US and that makes it a challenge.

SUZZY, happy to hear your hubby is doing well. Hugs and prayers for those extra 4 degrees he needs to go home.

Let's relax this evening & get ready for Monday,

Carolina M. emoticon

Hi Gang,

Dedrie, that food sounds delicious. I've never had gravy with fried fish. Very intriguing.

Jen, the 'Gotcha' day is such a great idea. I love it!

Suzzy, glad to hear that Brian is doing well and will be home soon.

Carolina, way to go with the walking!

Janet, Happy Birthday to your mom. I hope it is a very special day for her.

Donna, enjoy your camping weekend!

Today I finally went to Costco and bought the low fat cheese I had seen before. It is 1/4 Swiss, 1/4 Harvarti, 1/4 Colby Jack, 1/4 Cheddar all sliced and ready to eat. I tried the swiss and it was delicious. Tasted just like regular swiss cheese. So I will be able to have my cheese and eat it too! LOL

I have managed to keep the pound off that I lost last week. That's a biggie for me because I usually go up and down about 3 pounds each week.

Tomorrow I am meeting my mother for lunch. We only see each other once every few months and sometimes not even that often.

Hope you are all having an awesome weekend!

Afternoon all,

We have gotten a lot of the cooking done, fried fish and gravy, Mac & Cheese, Rice & Peas, and salad. Soon we will be starting the BBQ chicken and pork chops on the grill. We just got our first set of guests and expecting around 35-45 people total. We have some kids games planned and I do hope that they all have a great time because it's all for them.

Chat with you all later!

Good morning everyone,

just thought I would stop in before heading to the hospital to visit with Brian. He is hoping to come home to morrow but must be able to bend his new knee at a 90degree angle. Today he was able to reach 86% which is great for 3 days post op. He has just phoned me with a request to bring up a good cup of tea for him. The hospital stuff is like dishwater LOL.
I am going to bring up a box of cookies for the friends he has made as well. Everywhere Brian goes, he makes new friends, he is amazing.

Have a wonderful day everyone and

Jen: best wishes on this special anniversary date for the "Gotcha Celebration" I never thought that maybe we should have been celebrating this date with my sister all these years. We got her at age 2 weeks and this year she will be 45 years old. I'll have to ask my mom what the date was (if she remembers when we first got Sally) and maybe surprise her on that date with a little party. I know it was in October.

Hugs to All

Hi Team!

I can't believe that I missed posting here again yesterday. I start reading everyone's posts and then click on their pages to leave messages, etc. and forget to come back.

Yesterday was a celebration day for our family. It was Hana's "Gotcha" Day - the day that she was first placed in my arms. Yesterday was the 15th anniversary of that day. She celebrated the first half of the day by sleeping late. I worked in the yard. We spent the afternoon together having a late lunch, watching tv and talking. Last evening we went out to a favorite Vietnamese restaurant. When we came home, she and Craig played volleyball in the yard, while Kaia and I took a walk. It was a really nice day.

The workmen are coming back to work on our deck/porch today. It has rained here so much (or threatened rain) that they haven't been here in 11 days. I thought they would be here yesterday because it was the first day where rain wasn't predicted. I think they are coming today to make up for whatever went on yesterday instead of working here. I'm not wild about them working here on a Sunday, but since we have no special plans, I will deal with it.

I'm off to the yard! emoticon

Morning all,

Yesterday, the kids had a blast at the carnival and so did all of us. It was such a fun experience for everyone especially my daughter who is the oldest of the bunch. Today, we are about to have breakfast and then I'm going to start cooking for my kids birthday party. My parents invited some friends/family/kids over today to celebrate with my babies. We are all excited, but now it's time to head into the kitchen.

Wishing you all a wonderful Sunday!

Hi Team! Thanks for all the encouraging words and intentions. Today helped as we finally got some sunshine and nice temps. It was hard working on my computer and I didn't get much done as a result. I'm still working now since I didn't get much done today. I'm a night owl anyways so it won't matter too much.

Tomorrow we're celebrating my mom's birthday. I got her some light weight shirts with long sleeves that she can wear this summer. She doesn't like showing her arms with all the medication side effects and now that she'll be going on an iv next month, she'll really appreciate having something to cover them up.

Can't believe it is almost July. I'll be going up north to visit friends over the holiday weekend so that means I really need to get some stuff done this weekend and during the week. But most of all I need to find time to exercise on my own since my Zumba instructor is going on vacation midweek. I think I need to write up a schedule and stick to it so I can get everything in.

Glad everyone else is doing great. Suzzy, I've still got you and your hubby in my prayers. Take care everyone!

Hello everyone,

I am so sorry that I have been scarce but hubby has had his surgery and is still in hospital. I have been especially busy with family stuff as well as my business stuff and have just not had time for anything else except resting. I find I am missing everyone and wanted to let you know that I am doing okay with my nutrition but had little time for fitness. I keep active with my dogs but to take time for exercise is just in the cards for me right now. I will find the time once hubby is home (maybe in 2 days) and we get back to a schedule.

I hope everyone is doing well and know that I have you all in my thoughts every day.
I will try and log in more often next week. emoticon

Morning everyone. I'm at work until noon then it's back to camping. Had a good time last night, although I really didn't have much time with the girls. After we ate, we had a meeting and that always takes a while. Then I got the beds ready for the girls to get in them and figured out where to put everything. It also rained so that meant the girls were under foot while I tried to do all this. I had them sit at one place while I got one bed ready then moved them to that bed then got that one ready. Our camper sleeps 6 if you put the table down and unfold the couch. Busy busy. I got up at 5:30 and got dressed and came out to the house to get ready for work. It's only about 3 miles. I could have walked but then I wouldn't have had a way into work. Anyways, now I'm here, had 1 customer so far but it's early yet.

I did really well with my eating last night. I had a mountain pie made with ham and cheese, some salad, cranberry salad (I made it) and a small piece of a strawberry dessert.

I was pleased this morning when I stepped on the scale and I was below 146 for the first time in a while. I said WHAT? I'll take it and hope it holds.

Well that's about it for now. Have a great weekend everyone.

Morning everyone,

Yesterday was my daughters birthday and we went to an island off of St. Vincent called Young Island. We had lunch and swam at a private beach, which was beautiful. All 3 kids had a great time and my daughter really enjoyed her special day. Today, the kids are in kiddy carnival which is going to be extremely exciting. Hubby has taken tons of pictures and uploaded them to his facebook page. Our friends have been responding and they have really been entertained. Well, I'm off to ge the kids ready because it's going to be a long, but fun day.

Greetings!!

I feel wonderful today. I walked for 5 miles and could have continued but it was getting dark and the families in the park were about to leave. I don't like to stay by myself. I had this sensation that something was working right, everything was smooth and easy and did not feel the effort in my legs and feet. I have been doing 4 miles all week but it has been a huge effort. Nothing of that today. Awesome!! I am hoping the scale moves my way Sunday, my weigh in day.

JEN, I promised myself I was going to do something out of the ordinary once a week during the summer... it hasn't happened. I will try to start next week. I have been eating out with friends and having a good time, but it hasn't been extraordinary. I have to plan something...

CHERYL, I am so glad to read you are doing better all around. It must be your new diet. What we put in our bodies definitely has a "cause & effect" relationship with everything else.

JANET, sorry to hear you are a little down lately. Don't despair. Keep working on your goals to relieve stress. I find that when I am walking, worries seem clear and I have had a couple of epiphanies in regards to solutions or different ways of looking at things. Hang in there. emoticon If you are doing better, you will be better able to help your mom. Prays your way.

Take care everyone, and enjoy the weekend,

Carolina M. emoticon

Hi Team! I've had another downer for the week and haven't been able to pick myself up yet. I think it is because of all the rain. It started with some pretty big storms Tuesday night and hasn't stopped raining until this morning. Even today was dreary and cold. I could use a few nice days. They say it is going to be a nice weekend, but then we were supposed to be warmer with a little more sunshine this afternoon.

I know I shouldn't let the weather get to me, but I've got other issues holding me down too. Mom had her results back from her CT scan checkup and it looks like she will be going off the oral chemo drug and going onto an iv next month. They are going to do another test on her tissue sample from last year to get a better idea what would work best so that is why it is being delayed. She really hasn't been doing well in the last couple of months. Dad and I are starting to go back to kitchen duties, but that has been difficult since she hasn't been hungry. She's been sleeping a lot, too.

I haven't been doing as well either. I've put back on a few pounds and that is discouraging, too. I ordered a new book someone told me about eating clean. I'm reading through and trying to figure out if it would work for me. I'll keep you posted.

It is supposed to be nice this weekend, but I REALLY need to do some computer work this weekend so I'll probably check in with you. Have a great start to the weeekend and I'll see you soon.

Hi gang. Feeling much more chipper today. My scale was down 2 pounds from yesterday. Must have just been water weight but don't know why.

I'm waiting for 6:00 to come, then I can go camping and see my DGDs. We always have a good time when they're with us. Don't get to see them nearly enough. Of course there'll be lots to eat so I'll have to keep that in check.

Have to work tomorrow for 4 hours then the rest of the weekend is free. At some point on Sunday we'll have to get the kids all back to their homes.

Catch you all later. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Good Morning All,

Thought I would drop in real quick before I head off to work. Today will be a 10 hour day because we have a special dinner for the residents tonight.

I've been doing a lot of upper back strength training at PT this past week and I can really feel it. And I've been staying in calorie range, so hoping the scale will move a little more soon.

Hope you all have a Fabulous Friday and a great weekend!

Hi Team!

I began this morning with a 2-mile walk. I plan to get in some strength training, also, today. I have to do something to get this scale to move in the right direction. I feel stuck again.

I enjoyed my "day off" yesterday. Today it is back to work and I have a big To Do list that I want to get to, so I'm gonna run.

Take care.

Morning ladies. Well the scale did not agree with me either, in fact it went back to where I started the month at. It seems that everything I try or do works for everyone else but me. I just feel like giving up, I won't but I feel like it. Could someone please come and follow me around all day and tell me what I'm doing wrong? I just don't get it.

Anyways, we didn't get the rain yesterday that they called for, now they say today. We did have a little rain this morning, just enough to water the plants. And I was so excited last night, one of my 2 tomato plants that I plant has 3 tomatoes on it. YAY! I'll soon have my own fresh tomatoes to eat!

Gotta run to lunch. Catch ya later.

Jen-Enjoy your day off and the time with Hana.

Cheryl-Glad you are feeling better.

Suzzy-How did the surgery go? Hope things are well with you and DH

Good morning, Friends!

I have been having a slow morning. I have given myself the day off. Technically, I am on call and could be into a full-blown crisis in a matter of seconds, but unless that happens, I am OFF today. I have had my coffee and done my email. In a little while I will do my lymphodema treatment. Later, Hana and I are headed to the gym and then grocery shopping. I have a meeting/covered dish dinner tonight and plan to take a nice salad with greens, blueberries, walnuts, etc. I want to get in some reading and/or sewing today and just do things at my own pace for once!

Dedrie, I am green with envy! You know how I love to travel! Have a wonderful time. Relax and enjoy yourself and take good care. I can't wait to see the photos!

Carolina, Have you been doing anything special for yourself this week?

Cheryl, So glad to hear that you are feeling so well! It really is amazing when we learn (after so many years) what food does to our bodies. I am certainly still learning those lessons.

Ditto to you, Sarah. Way to go on trying to figure out the way your body reacts to certain foods!

Donna, I hope you have a blast camping. I totally know what you mean about the scale. It didn't budge for me again this week. I am very frustrated, but I have to figure something out to make it work for me.

Suzzy, I am thinking about you and hubby!

Janet, I hope you are having a good week!

Hugs,

Jen

Hi Team,

I have a very busy week but wanted to pop in real quick.

I am feeling so good right now. I have to wonder if the low cholesterol diet isn't giving me more energy. I don't have that tired, drag myself to work feeling. I have lots of energy, I'm eating healthy and exercising.

Now if the weather would just cooperate life would be perfect. Yesterday we had 83 but today we are back in the high 60's. Which isn't horrible, but where's summer?

Wishing you all a Terrific Thursday!!

Good evening!

I just got back from a long walk. It finally rained this morning, enough to end some of the wild fires. It felt nice and breeze outside.

DEDRIE, nice to hear from you. Relax, enjoy and share lots of pictures. It must be amazing!!

SARAH, I live in the north suburbs of Houston. I have been to Dallas and I love their museums. Do you visit often?

DONNA, I feel the same way about the scale lately. We just have to keep at it.

JEN, glad your figures added up. It sounds interesting. I have not heard of anything similar here. Where in MD do you live? My sister is near Salisbury. We usually go visit during Spring Break. I feel it's very different than Texas even though we are still in the US. This is a huge country for me.

Good night, take care and let's keep moving,

Carolina M.

Evening all from St. Vincent, which is in the Caribbean near Barbados. I pretty much 40 hours between, Saturday, Sunday & Monday. We hit the road to NY Monday night after I got off of work at around 11:30, got there and settled into bed at around 2 am, then woke up the kids at around 5am to get dressed and breakfast before heading to the airport. We got here yesterday at arond 6:30pm, relaxed and enjoyed being here with my parents. We went to the beach today for hours and visited with family. We are having a ball and time is just going by too quickly. Hopefully the internet stays up and I could keep communicating with you all. Chat with you all later!

Hey Everyone,

I've had a few pretty good days (if you ignore the hoagie I just ate emoticon ) I'm down 2 pounds over the last week and a half so that's a step in the right direction. This is an interesting week for me because I'm doing something called the "Breakfast Experiment". For 7 days I'm eating something different each day for breakfast. I write down how I feel immediately after eating and then again 2 hours after eating. The idea is to make connections on how your body reacts to certain foods. Yesterday was eggs, today was oatmeal (or any other grain), tomorrow is boxed cereal... you get the idea. It's been pretty neat so far.

I need to take the first step when it comes to the exercise stuff... haven't added that back in yet and I know I need to. I could give you a hundred excuses, but really it's always just that... excuses.

Donna - hope you were able to get your camper ready today. It's been rainy on and off here too.

Jen - Glad to hear you got your budget completed and that there was a little extra money. Gotta love that! I can only imagine how difficult it is to run a non-profit, especially in a struggling economy.

Carolina - where in Texas are you? My Dad, Stepmom and 3 of my siblings live just outside of Dallas.

Hope you all have a great rest of the week!

Afternoon everyone. We had a little sprinkle this morning but nothing since although they are calling for hard storms later. Hope not, I have to get the camper ready tonight as DH is taking it tomorrow eve and setting it up. It's not far from home but it will be on locked property until we arrive on Friday eve. Then we'll have 3 girls til Sunday.

I did lose at TOPS last night, albeit only .25 pounds. I think the scale hates me. LOL It certainly is trying my patience.

Not much going on at work, yeah, it's my Wednesday to work all day then I have to work Saturday. Bummer. Guess I have to take my turn though. At least I have a good job and I'm thankful for that.

Catch ya later.

Hi Team!

I am about to leave for the office. I have a busy day ahead.

I finished my new budget yesterday so I am now ready for the new fiscal year which begins on July 1! I was thrilled to come up with figures that say that we may have a little money to spare this year. Times and budgets have been very tight, as you all know.

Carolina, I run an agency that provides residential services to adults with intellectual deficits and other disabilities. Most people know them as "group homes", but in MD a group home is technically 4 or more people grouped together so most of what we operate are "alternative living units". We have one group home of 4 for our elderly/medically fragile individuals. Our other homes serve from 1 to 3 people in them with staffing 24-hours per day. I started the agency over 25 years ago.

Gotta run, my friends. Have a great one!

Jen

Howdy!! It has been a hot day in Texas...

We haven't had enough rain in the last 4 months, I believe. It's sticky and hot... but I prefer the heat to the snow. I just hope it rains soon for all the folks whose houses are in danger due to the forest fires going on in some parts of the state.

It seems everyone is putting their best effort towards their goals this week. I am definitely trying. I am obsessed with the scale moving this week... hopefully in the right direction.

DONNA, good luck in your weigh in. You can beat the scale

JEN, did your calculations add up? what kind of non profit do you work for? I remember it was something in education, right?

JANET, I finally went to my appointment for new glasses. The eyes are OK. I can't blame the age anymore. The doctor mentioned that being tired and lack of moisture in the eye causes the muscle to get slower while focusing. I guess is good news. The prescription is the same.

SARAH, welcome back. This is the right team for support. emoticon

CHERYL, congrats for your accomplishment. ONE lbs. is great... some of us are struggling. Now I know you are the one to follow.

Have a good evening. I promised myself I was going to bed before midnight, and it ain't happening.

Make tomorrow count,

Carolina M. emoticon

Morning all. I started my day off with a cup of joe then I did 2 miles with WATP and one of them was a walk/jog. I feel really good about weighing in at TOPS tonight. I've been taking some different vitamins and also eating an energy bar before my workouts as this one is supposed to help turn your fat into fuel during workouts. I feel smaller at least. We'll see what happens tonight. I might not see a big difference tonight but hopefully in the next couple of weeks I will.

It is hazy sunshine here this a.m. It rained overnight some. Expecting more rain the rest of this week then the weekend is supposed to be in the high 70s and no rain. That's fine with me as we are taking 3 DGDs with us camping and I'd rather they not be pinned up in the camper the whole time.

Almost time for me to go to lunch. I'll try to check back in later.

Suzzy-Good luch with your DHs surgery tomorrow. I pray all will be well.

Jen-Hope you can get that budget balanced soon. Try not to stress about it too much, it will all work out.

Hi Everyone!

The budget saga continues. It will be another intense day of calculations and holding my breath, hoping there is enough money. (The life of a non-profit.)

Cheryl, I'm glad you are feeling better. Congrats on kicking that pound!

Janet, I hope your back calms down soon and gives you relief.

Sarah, So glad you're back among us!

Donna, Is it rainy up your way? We have had days of on and off drizzle since last Thursday. If this keeps up, our deck and porch will never get finished.

Have a wonderful day! emoticon

Hi Team! Today has been a catch up day and although I got a lot done, I still didn't get as much done as I wanted to. Isn't that the way it goes though? I thought for sure I'd be posting here earlier than it is now. I'm winding things down so I can get a good nights rest for a long work week. The boss lady is gone later in the week, so I'm sure it will go okay.

My back is sore after all the driving I did over the weekend. I was on the road for 6 hours yesterday heading up north for my cousin's wedding. I'm glad I went, but I was tuckered out when I got home! Anyways my sore back held me back in Zumba tonight so I toned down the routine to be as low impact as possible. Didn't burn as many calories, but still got a good workout in.

Dedrie - Have a wonderful vacation/trip! Hope you are able to check in a few times while you're gone, but if not, enjoy it to the max!

Suzzy - I've got you and your hubby in my prayers!

Cheryl - Glad you're feeling better!

Caroline - Hope things slow down for you this week. My eyes changed after 40 also. It is discouraging having everything arms length to see! Glad your daughter is enjoying her time and connecting with her grandparents.

Jen - Good luck with your year end stuff and getting the new budget ready!

Sarah - So glad you're back! I had so much to say I've sent you a SP message!

Donna - My Wii Fit thinks I'm lighter than my scale, too!

Have a good Tuesday, everyone! I'll check in tomorrow night.

Thanks everyone for the welcome back messages :) You all are so unconditionally supportive and that's what drew me back to you. Thanks for not judging and taking me back with open arms emoticon

Cheryl - 1 pound in the right direction! Feels good doesn't it! :)

Jen - Good luck getting your budget completed. Hang in there through the craziness this week.

Donna - Sounds like you had an active weekend! I should break out my Wii fit again. If there's one area I've been struggling most lately it's with exercise.

I've had a good day today. I'm feeling fine and took a 3 mile walk. Also went to PT. Been eating healthy and finally lost a pound. Seems like forever since I've been able to say that. I go up and down a few pounds all the time but this time I went down 1 more. And I plan to keep it off.

Welcome Back Sarah! It's good to see you again. I'm so sorry to hear about your mother passing.

Back to work tomorrow.

Hi Team!

It is Monday and back to work. I have a new budget to prepare for the fiscal year that begins July 1st and I need to get it done. My deputy director is on vacation this week so it could be a wild week for me.

Donna, I'm glad you had a good weekend. It sounds like fun.

Sarah, It is great to see you back here with us. I'm so sorry about your mom. I wish you the best on your healthy path.

Good morning gang. I'm at home today, off from work, which means I have to work all day Wednesday then Saturday morning. I got in 45 minutes of Wii Zumba this a.m. and did the Wii Fit test. It said I gained 4 pounds since the last time I did it (it's been a while) but it only weighed me at 142.5. Oh how I wish.

Anyways, had a great weekend camping. I did the walk and plus some on Saturday. The walk wound up to be 4 miles, then DH and I went for another walk later for another mile plus we had done yard sales in the a.m. for another mile. That was a total of 6 miles. WooHoo! The foot was a little achy but not too bad. WooHoo again.

Yesterday DH and I came home early from camping and then went to a restraunt for Father's Day then took a drive and went to Ollie's. It's a discount store. Had fun just being together. Then I went to Zumba last evening for an hour.

Now I must get moving, have some things to do then I need to go to grocery store then I get my hair cut at 4.

Catch y'all later.

Welcome back, Sarah. I remember you. So sorry to hear about your mom. The one that I call mom passed away 10 years ago and I still miss her. Now my birth mom is in the hospital and not doing well either. I'll have to call later and try and talk to her if she's able.

Hi Everyone,

Not sure if some of you remember me or not (my old screen name was PurpleCrab), but I joined your team last spring (maybe around March 2010 timeframe) and was pretty focused and doing well. I lost about 20 pounds and felt great... and then I got handed a curveball. Along side selling our home, packing boxes and moving, my mom was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of Leukemia. It was all I could do to just wake up and keep making it through each day. So I left the weight loss battle front for a while to keep my sanity and be there for my mom. I spent every moment possible with her and I'm so glad I did...even it it means I gained a few pounds . She passed away on 3/15/11 and I'm learning to navigate life without her. It's not been an easy road, but I'm taking it 1 day at a time.

I'm trying to take better care of myself again. I want to get healthy, and change my lifestyle so I can set a good example for my husband and future kiddos.

For the last month I've been seeing a holistic health coach and am trying to put a large emphasis on eating organically, eating whole foods, cutting out the processed stuff, and finding balance between life, food and movement. I'm ready to start focusing on my health again. I deserve it.

Anyway... It's good to see some familiar faces. I'm not sure how often I will post, but I definitely wanted to say hello and if you'll have me I'd like to try and stay connected. It looks like you all are doing well. Hope you had a wonderful weekend and i look forward to being back!

Greetings!!

The weekend certainly goes by very fast. I have decided to get up early and get some organizing done at a decent time to get moving in my summer plans. I also have to do some serious walking to catch up and make that scale move once and for all. Next week has to be less chaotic since I don't have any errands or trips to plan.

My daughter is having a good time, specially with grandma. I am very happy for her. We got to talk in the evening when she is ready for bed. This must be preparing me for when she goes to college next year. I dreaded it anyways.

Have a good beginning of the week. Remember your goals and work towards them... I am making a huge effort this week.

Hi Team!

Sorry for the late check-in. We had a busy day. We attended a memorial service yesterday for the son of friends of ours. They moved to Florida 9 years ago, but their son grew up here in our church so they returned here for the service. Then they came home and stayed with us. They were here until about 9 this morning. As they were packing the car, my parents pulled in.

It is Father's Day as you all know. Since Alex couldn't had to work and couldn't be with us, we went to him. We drove to Baltimore and enjoyed a nice meal in the small neighborhood restaurant/pub where he works. It was really fun and the food and service were great!

My parents are now sitting in front of the tv with Craig watching the end of the U.S. Open golf championship. I have enjoyed the day, but am ready to lie down, do my leg treatment and relax!

Sorry to hear that you are sick, Cheryl, but glad to hear from you. I am also glad to hear from Suzzy and Janet. Take good care everyone.

Good Morning Team,

I am feeling much better today. Still have a bit of a headache but other than that I'm fine.

Big plans cleaning the house today. LOL It sure gets dirty fast with 4 grandkids running around all the time.

Dedrie, Enjoy your vacation! You so deserve it!!

Carolina, I know it's hard when our children go away for any amount of time, no matter how old they are. Hopefully it will be a good experience for her.

Janet, I need to get in for my eye checkup too. It's been two years for me, too.

Jen, the Big C keeps calling my name. I saw a variety of low fat cheeses at Costco last week that I'm kicking myself for not buying. I think I might run out there this weekend to get some. There was havarti, swiss, cheddar and one other that I can't remember right now. I figure it's worth a try.

Donna, way to go getting right back on track.

Suzzy, my thoughts and prayers will be with you and your hubby this week.

Enjoy The Day!!

Howdy to all!!

I have been running around all week, so much so that I did not get to exercise at all. I got home past 9 every night and got up too late to do anything before it got too hot outside. Well, I am glad I still have some June left to reach some of my goals and start moving again. It's been a challenge!! I have to start again tomorrow.

JEN, thanks for the advise. I thought about going to a couple of museums while Celeste was away. I'll try some alone time next week and just plain sit and relax. I know she'll be fine with grandparents and dad. They hadn't seen each other for 6 years and I know this is good for her.

DEDRIE, take us along emoticon Share pictures and let us know how it goes. I love to hear stories about vacations since this could be my next year's destination.

JANET, glad to hear your vision hasn't change. My appointment is next week because I broke my glasses and I started to feel I needed new ones. It deteriorates after 40 (I thought people were exaggerating before, but it actually happened to me!)

CHERYL, I hope you're feeling better in no time. Take care.

SUZZY, we'll be thinking about you and praying for your husband. You'll see, he'll be all right and thanking you for all your help and care. Hugs.

Have a fantastic Sunday!!

Sincere apologies everyone for being MIA.
Hubby's surgery is this Thursday and I have been extremely bust getting everything ready for hi.
I have also had some problems with my website that needed immediate action so that has tied me up night and day.
It's been a high stress week and next week does not look promising either. I am very concerned about my hubby's surgery because he has hugh blood pressure. It is under control with medication but knee replacement surgery is a surgery that can spark blood clots. I am such a pessimist and I try not to be. I admit I am scared. I will be so happy when it is all over with and then I can get to doing what I do best and that is using my nursing skills to help my husband recover.

There will be plenty of physio therapy for months and then when he is all healed, the other knee will get replaced. It will definitely be a challenging year for us.

I may be scarce over the next couple of weeks but I am thinking of you all and will do my best to check in from time to time.
Have a great Fathers Day tomorrow with your better halfs and your dads.

Hi Team,

I haven't been around due to the fact that I've been down with the intestinal flu bug. This particular bug comes with a full blown headache. I will have to catch up with everyone later but wanted to drop in to wish everyone a wonderful weekend.

Hi Team! It feels good to be here since I've been way too busy this week to log on. I didn't get home any night this week before 8:30 pm. Monday, Wednesday and Friday it was because of Zumba so at least I was getting some great workouts in. Tuesday I went and had my eyes checked. I was hoping I could just get my scratched lenses replaced, but since it was 2 years ago they said I should have my eyes checked again. No big changes and we talked about the possibility of bifocals, but I decided I can do without until I need to replace them again. (Besides the fact that it would have added an extra $150 to the cost of my new glasses!) So when I picked out the new lenses we were looking at some that I could actually look under the lenses to see for quick close reading. (I need my glasses to see far away, not for reading.)

Thursday I went and visited my friend in the hospital. She and the baby are doing pretty well although I think she's going a little stir crazy being confined to bed rest. They are hoping to keep the baby in her for 3 more weeks to give him time to develop and get a good start once he's born. I'm going to visit her again next week to help her keep her sanity.

Last night I went to a Zumba party to raise funds for Relay for Life. I always have a blast at those and ended up burning 1,531 calories! I'm a little sore today, but not any more than usual. I'll probably go for a walk this morning with my dog before heading out for the weekend. I've got a birthday party this afternoon and a wedding to go to on Sunday. Of course they are all over the state so I'll be putting some miles on the car this weekend. At least gas prices aren't as high as they were last week.

I'll try and check in again this weekend, but I can't guarantee it. It sure is turning out to be a busy summer. Hope you all are doing great and keeping on track. I 'll catch up with you soon!

Good luck today, Dedrie! I hope you aren't too exhausted after your long day.

Where is everyone????

I am attending a memorial service this afternoon. An old friend who moved away from here maybe 10 years ago is coming back to have a memorial service here (among those who knew him) for her son who died recently....very sad.

I hope you all have a good Saturday.

HAPPY SATURDAY ALL!

I am now about to put my lunch and dinner together to make sure that I have enough healthy foods to eat today. I'll be at work for a long shift and won't be back home until after 11:30. Wish me luck with making it through because I know I'm going to be tired.

Laundry is almost done, which means I will be able to just start packing. What makes me nervous is that their is a 50 pound weight limit for each suit case. Thus, I need to keep my scale right next to me and weigh as I go.

Chat with you all later and I wish you all a wonderful Saturday.

Evening all,

After picking up the kids today from school today, we went to the store for some last minute items that we need from the store. I still have 1 or 2 items that I need, but on most part it's time to really start packing. What am I waiting for?

Donna, WTG with drinking up on that water and staying in your ranges. Enjoy your weekend as well girl!

Jen, anyone is more than welcome to jump in the suit case to go with us. My family will love to have you all!

G'night ladies!

Good afternoon gang. I'm feeling better today. Most of the bloatedness is gone. I drank extra water yesterday and trying to today too to combat it. I stayed well within my limits yesterday and today I'll do the same. The weekend I might not be so lucky but will try. We are camping, but it's just DH and I so I'll have more control over what foods there are. We are going to a church camp and they are having a weinnie roast Saturday night but I'm also doing the 3 miles of walking so hopefully that will offset somej of it. Can't wait for 6 pm to roll around!

Gotta get back to work. Hope everyone has a fantastick weekend!

Where is Janet? Is she okay?

Thanks everyone for your support and suggestions.

Hi Everyone!

Donna, I am facing "the morning after", too. We went to our FAN Club dinner last night. It was great. The evening began with drinks and appetizers. I ordered the pan roasted tilapia, which was delicious and a healthy choice, but I indulged in everything else. This morning I felt bloated an yucky. Kaia and I had a good 40+ minute walk so that helped me feel some better.

Dedrie, What a great vacation! Have a fantastic time! Take us along in spirit!

Carolina, I know about missing one's babies. It will be hard, but enjoy yourself. Do those things that you never get the chance to do while she is around. Try to fill your days with indulging yourself in a good, healthy way. (We are here to keep you company!)

Suzzy, Are you okay? We miss you!

Cheryl, Are you adjusting to your new diet? Are you craving the "big C"?

Have a great day!

Jen

Evening all,

I am up late because I have decided to get in a nice walk after I put the kids to bed. I normally will grab a snack after I workout, but tonight is different. I'm trying to cut out this late night snack because it only stalls my progress.

My little ones have half days tomorrow and Monday, which is their last day of school. Then we will be going on vacation on Tuesday and won't be back in the states until June 29th. Hubby and I are heading to St. Vincent for 10 days and the kids will be stayng for an entire month with my parents. I sooo can't wait for the vacation and to just get away.

I know my parents have internet access and I'll be bringing my i-pad wth me, so I'm hoping to be able to log into spark people while I'm in the caribbean. If my plan doesn't work as planned please know that I'll be thinking of all of you. I'm letting you all know this now that I'll be away because my days are getting very short and I want to make sure you all know why I won't be around.

I'm off to take a shower and head to bed.

~Dedrie~

Bon soir, mes amis!! (I think this is it)

I hope my daughter comes back with a little French. She is going to Quebec for 3 weeks. She only needs to pack but she is resisting this step... we need to get going. Thanks for all your well wishes.

DONNA, only think about the next day and how to repair whatever you did. All of us have been there... It has gotten to me late in the evening and it seems like a minute of madness and then you regret what you put in your mouth. Let's do another mile tomorrow.

Good morning team. It's a little rainy here today. Hard to believe but we do need it. They are calling for rain today and tomorrow off and on. Hope it doesn't on Saturday as I am participating in a 3 mile walk to raise funds for our church. We sponsor a cabin at a church camp not far from us and we had to do some remodeling on it to make it handi-capped accessable. The work is done but there is money that still needs paid on it. Hope we do well.

I really blew it yesterday eating. Today back on track but oh do I feel yucky. Why do we do that when we know what it's going to be the next day? And how do we retrain our brains to not go crazy when there is food around? It's maddening.

Gotta get back to work. I'll check in later.

Donna

Hi Team!

I am excited because my oldest, Alex, is home for a visit today. He just lives in Baltimore about 45 minutes away, but he works at a restaurant (what you get for a college degree these days!) from 3PM until closing, 6 days a week so it is hard to find time to connect. We get to visit today, then all three kids are going out this evening to spend some time together. Craig and I had already paid to go to a FAN Club dinner (neighborhood group) tonight. It will be nice for the kids to have some time together without parents. We will get to see Alex again on Sunday because we are all going to his restaurant for Father's Day since he can't get off work.

I lost nothing this week. I held the same. I know that I have to step up the strength training. I am eating well and getting lots of cardio, but I don't make time for strength training and that has to change!

Carolina, How long will your daughter be gone?

Dedrie, When do your kids get out of school?

Donna, Congrats on 1/2 pound! Wish I had lost it, too!

Cheryl, I'm glad the massage helped!

Suzzy, Are you okay? How are those allergies?

Janet, Where are you? We miss you!

Have a good one!

Jen

Morning All,

I'm about to do my morning routine and then head out the door to work. I promise myself once I get the kids settled down after school today, I'm going to get in my workout. What are you plans today to stay on track?

Cheryl, you totally sound focused and I know you'll see good results. WTG on getting in your walk and keeping track of your cholesterol.

Carolina, I know it's hard some time to let go and see your baby girl grow up. Know that she'll be alright and the we all wish her a safe trip. How long will your daughter be gone for?

Wishing you all a wonderful Thursday!

Buenas noches!

I have not been doing well all week. My excuse? I had to run lots of errands with my daughter because she is leaving Friday to visit her grandparents in Canada. I have mixed feelings about her trip. A part of me doesn't really want her to go but I know she needs to make new memories with that part of HER family. Her dad will also be there. She hasn't seen them in more than 4 years so I know it will be good for her. I had to convince her to accept the trip and now I am hoping I don't regret it. Oh well !! I'll pray lots while she is gone.

DEDRIE, I don't have any plans for the summer other than re-organize my house. I want it spic and span soon. It's long over due.

JANET, good idea about the preventive medicine appointments. In the long run, it's just better for you. good luck and keep us posted.

CHERYL, I want that therapy... massage, heat, it sounds relaxing

DONNA, 1/2 lbs. less is better than nothing. I have not lost an ounce in 4 weeks and it's frustrating. We need to examine our tracking of food and exercise carefully and see what we're missing. Let's keep moving...

Good night to all.

Carolina M. emoticon

Evening Team,

I had a great day today. Even though I am extremely tired and very sore I managed to stayed in my calorie range and well below my cholesterol range. I also went out and walked during my 15 minute breaks today. 4 times around the building equals 1 mile and I can do it in 15 minutes. Then I went to physical therapy where they took pity on me and gave me a very nice massage and some moist heat therapy.

Now I would just like to see some weight come off.

Still not having very good weather here. Today was only 60 and very windy. Funny how this time of year 60 feels cold to me, but in the winter it feels warm.

Thank you all for your supporting words because as well all know, this isn't easy. I thank you for the pick me up because it's exactly what I need. I must stay consistent to make sure that I now make it through the 150's. One pound at a time, One day at a time is all I keep telling myself.

Suzzy, how are your walks? Mine are extremely relaxing and I love burning calories.

Jen, CONGRATS to Hana on an excellent school year. I totally wish you a productive day with all that you have to get done. Thanks friend, I know that when I stick with what I'm doing I will get there eventually.

I have put the kids on the bus, got dinner ready for them tonight, got in my workout and soon about to jump in the shower to get ready for work. I am planning my meals in my head to log them to make sure that I stay in my ranges. Today, I'm planning a snack for when I get home from work to make sure that I don't over eat. Be safe ladies!

Morning team. The sun is shining this morning but still chilly. It's supposed to warm up nicely for this afternoon though. That's good because I have to go get groceries and run errands. Wore a thin jacket to work but I'm hoping I won't need it by 1 when I get off work.

I lost a whopping 1/2 pound at TOPS last night. I'm happy I'm back in leeway but I thought it would be more. How come other people can lose 3, 4 5 pounds and I can only manage a measely 1/2? Beats me! Another TOPS member said that she has been munching on white popcorn that she makes in a special microwave bowl. She just sprays some butter spray on it. I'm going to try and find one and give it a try. I do love popcorn.

School is out here as well. The seniors graduated last Friday but the others got out yesterday. I know my Gkids are happy.

Not much going on today at work. Just waiting for the customers to come in.

Catch ya later.

Donna

Good morning, my friends,

School is over for this year! Hana is now officially a junior in high school.

The workers are back today working on the deck/screened porch. It is looking great! I am really happy about the color we picked.

I have a long list of things to do this morning so I must get moving. I want to take Hana out this afternoon to do some shopping and errands, but I need to produce first!

Hang in there, my pals.

Dedrie, You are our energizer bunny! Our results seem to happen too slowly most times, but if we stick with it, they will come (this message is as much for me as for you!)

Donna, Good luck at TOPS!

Cheryl, I hope your treatment helps. Way to go on watching that cholesterol!

Suzzy, I, too, have been watching robins. We seem to have lost a whole nest of them somehow. I am assuming that a predator got them. So sad... emoticon Just the other day, the mama was feeding the babies worms and Hana and I were peeking around the corner to see them.

Have a good day!

Jen

Yes, we all get discouraged. Thank goodness we have each other for support. I certainly couldn't do this alone.

This week I have been really good at watching my cholesterol. Only 23 mg today.

I went to physical therapy today and the therapist did some spine manipulation and I am really sore tonight. I hope it will pay off in the long run. I go again tomorrow so will know more then.

Thank you all for being the support system that I really need. You are all awesome!!

Dedrie! please don't talk about my friend that way.......look how far you have come since the beginning. You have already gone down 40 pounds.
You will get to where you are comfortable honey and you already know you can do it. WE all (INCLUDING ME) get discouraged at time but that's what your friends are for.
WE have all been there and understand your feelings but stop and think for a moment of far you have come.

I can just bet that today you can do far more physically than you could before and I bet you eat more healthy. That certainly has to account as success.
Try to think positive my dear friend and be kind to you. I'm here for you always.

Gentle Hugs

Thank you all for your support and encouraging words. I could really use them right about now because I've been thinking way too much lately about how FAT I am. As you all know, I really don't mind exercising. I just wish that my body will look like I love to get in a good workout instead it looks like a person who does nothing. I keep telling myself one day I'll look in shape, but is that true?

Donna, good luck in TOPS and WTG on getting your 3 mile walk in yesterday.

Suzzy, it will be nice to see your pics of the baby robins in your bush. WTG on your capris sliding right off of you. You are doing AWESOME! Keep up the fantastic work!

I'm off to work and wishing you a wonderful Tuesday.

good morning all,
I hope I can type this message without all the typos I see in my second to last one.
Oh my goodness you would have thought I was drunk or drugged when I typed it. but I assure you I wasn't. Some times I type faster than what my brain tells me and afterwards it doesn't make sense. I try to correct any errors before sending a message but when I am hurried I slip up and oops .......Sorry for the errors........

Today feels like a fall day. It is only 56F right now but it is to warm up and get sunny this afternoon. I hope so because I have baby robins in my small bush that I started to photograph 3 days ago when they were born and I am trying to take a pic each day. Yesterday one of the babies was found on my lawn dead. It looked like something got a hold of it so I am praying the 2 surviving babies are still there today. I saw mamma bird on the nest this morning so I am sure they must be okay.

I was pleasantly surprised this morning when I put on a pair of my Capris that I bought last month. They are quite lose and I don't have to undo them to take them down.
I have not weighed myself in over a week and want to wait until the end of this week before I do but what ever the scale says, I can see physical results and that is the best thing.

I am sending best wishes for a delightful day and hope everyone has a healthy one.

Morning ladies. It is unseasonably cool here today. Highs only in the upper 60s with clouds. I even had to wear a light jacket to work. YUCK!!

I got in 3 miles of walking last night. I did it in 1 hour exactly and only stopped twice for maybe 20 seconds each. Tonight is TOPS, I really need to lose at least .25 pounds so that I can get back in leeway. I think I'm okay but you never know between my scale and TOPS.

It's incredibly slow here at the bank. Today is Flag Day so we got to wear jeans to work and a red, white and/or blue top. We'll do it again on July 1 to commemorate the 4th of July. Of course I am not weighing in with jeans on so I have shorts to change into. Since it's so cold, I'll probably change back into my jeans after weigh in.

Have to go do some work.

Suzzy-I'm with you, bring on the sunshine.

Dedrie-WTG on getting your workouts in.

Jen-Try not to stress too much over the added workload. It will all work out.

Hi Everyone!

I will be heading out the door to go to work shortly. I have a regional meeting to attend and then a lot to take care of at the office. My deputy director is leaving Friday and will be gone for 10 days. That is always a stressful time for me. We have to get lots of things in order before she leaves.

Suzzy, I know this is a stressful time for you and DH. Try to take good care of yourselves as you approach surgery time.

Donna, It sounds like you and DH had a really nice day on Sunday!

Dedrie, You are always an inspiration with your determination!

Have a great day!

Lately, I have been forcing myself to get moving when I get home from work. I can't get myself up in the morning as I used to for what ever reason and I hate exercising after a long day of work. So what do I do? Tonight I saw 6:45pm, got myself changed and moving to get in my walk. All I ask for is an hour of cardio, is that asking too much? Not really, I jsut have to do it. Afterwards, I always feel great and now it's time for a nice hot shower, my after dinner snack and head to bed. emoticon

Hello everyone,

It is cooler here today as well. It started off sunny and warm then turned cloudy and progressively cooler. O don't mind it but really want to see the sunshine back.

I am very busy right now as I got a slew of new clients so I am busy making graphics and coming up with new ideas for them.

I am also trying to get everything in order as hubby's knee replacement surgery is next week and my work load around home will be doubled for a while.

This week is filled appointments and one is mine to get in and see an allergist because I have been having some sever attacks when there is a breeze in the air. The suffering is just awful and I almost used my epipen the other day to try and contact the allergic effect I was having. Instead I took a bath and changed my clothes and took Benedryl which helped.

These allergies are new to me at this time of year, it is usually in August when ragweed is in season that I am plagued.

Anyways, I have stuck to a nutritious menu today and had no snacking. I have been bad with getting enough water in and have been overdoing it on the diet coke. I know I must get that under control but when I am stressed I have a tendency to turn to my diet cola for comfort.
My hubby's surgery has been worried which I know is silly but he has never had surgery and I know he is anxious about it. I don't like to see him worried and I am trying to reassure him but there is no one to reassure me LOL. I know everything should go fine but I am a natural born worrier.

I hope everyone is having a great day and will have an enjoyable evening as well.

Hi team. A lot cooler here today. Highs only in the 70s, compared to 80 & 90 last week and weekend.

We made it in plenty of time for the tractor ride on Saturday. There were 13 tractors and 15 riders on the wagon. DH and I rode on the wagon. It was about an 11 mile ride. Had loads of fun and sunburned, mainly just on my legs. It doesn't do any good to bring sun screen along if you don't use it, if you get my drift?

Yesterday we went to church then decided to go to a restraunt that we haven't been to in a long time. It was about 50 miles away in the country. Ate a nice meal then tried to look up some friends that we haven't seen in a while but they weren't home so we went for a long drive up and down hills and on roads we were never on before. After leaving the house at 9:30, we didn't get back until almost 5. It was a nice time just DH and I.

Now I'm at work wishing I was out enjoying the beautiful weather. I'm going to go for a long walk tonight if nothing major crops up.

Later.

Donna

God is my rock and my salvation.

Hi Team!

The weather here is absolutely gorgeous this morning. It is sunny and there is just a little nip in the air - just perfect for a morning walk! Kaia and I did 2 1/4 miles this morning. I would have loved to keep going, but I have workers coming this morning. We have a screened porch on part of our deck. The screen must all be redone so we are having workers stain the whole deck and porch while they do the screening. I can't wait for it to be done. It is such a great place to have meals and to entertain. We have held off on any picnics while we wait for this to happen.

Dedrie, Way to go with getting those workouts in!

Janet, I'm so glad you are feeling well enough to take a walk now.

Cheryl, It is wonderful that you are taking your new eating plan so seriously! Way to go!

I have another 40 minutes for breakfast and computer time, then I have to get to work. The end of the fiscal year is fast approaching!

Good Morning Sparkers,

Once again, I am wide awake having a healthy breakfast and about to head out the door to work. My daughter's dance class is over until September, which means not as much running around after work. I promise to get in my walk/run this afternoon either indoors or out depending on the weather.

Cheryl, it's AMAZING what you learn about foods when you read labels. I know a lot of foods really caught me off and I'm finally knowing what to eat and what isn't all that good. When you understand food, it makes it easier to eat while away from home. WTG with filling your house with healthy foods!

Janet, WTG with getting in your walk yesterday, was it just as nice where you are? Were you able to get your computer work done yesterday? My workout schedule was off a little this weekend since I had company, but I did manage to get in my walk after my SIL left. The key for me is keeping my eating under control and in my ranges.

Wishing you all a wonderful day! emoticon

Hi Team! Not a very productive day for me, but at least I'm feeling good and even got an afternoon walk in. I'm going to spend the rest of the evening working as I wasn't able to visit my friend after church tonight. I guess she's not up to visitors since she had so many over the weekend. I'll let her rest up and visit later in the week.

I've got a busy week coming up including a lot going on over the weekend, so I'm not sure how much I'll be checking in this week. Hope everyone is on track and doing well.

Dedrie - Hope your workout schedule is back to normal. Glad you were able to spend some quality time with your family members.

Jen - Whoa, what a busy weekend for you! Hope you survived all the guests in and out of your home. Sounds like you had to feed an army!

Cheryl - make sure you add a 1/2 tsp of cinnamon to your oatmeal each morning. Mom started taking it in her hot chocolate every day for her high blood pressure, but it also is a good natural herb for controling cholesterol. Good luck!

Have a great week everyone!

Hello All,

Sounds like everyone is really busy these days. I've had a very busy day, too. Started out with doing some heavy duty yard work, with 2 year old grandson helping. LOL

Then we were off to the grocery store where I bought lots of healthy food. I bought some steel cut oats and plan on eating oatmeal for breakfast most everyday. It's suppose to help lower cholesterol. I also bought veggie burgers, fresh fruit and veggies and lots of whole grain items. It's funny, I had really thought that I was making good food choices the past couple of years, but now with this high cholesterol thing I started reading the labels closer and it has really opened my eyes. Right now I'm going through cheese withdrawal. LOL

I did some cooking ahead for the week and then did some house cleaning and laundry. I have just now sat down for the first time all day, except while I was driving to and from the store.

Oh, and did I mention that I had my 2 year old grandson to help me all day. LOL

Carolina, my next doctor appointment for a recheck on my cholesterol is in 3 months. I'm doing everything I can to get it down without medication. My mom has had high cholesterol for years and takes lipitor for it. But I have heard that statin drugs can have some bad side effects.

Hope you are all enjoying your weekend!

Hi Everyone!

Sorry I have been MIA since Thursday. It has been a hectic couple of days. Friday was spent in PA with my friend, Roz. We had a great day together. I raced home in the late afternoon and took Kaia to the vet. We ended up going out to eat since the appointment ran so late and then Hana and I went to the grocery store. It was probably 9PM until I got to wind down a bit, but even then Spencer had two friends come to spend the night. They are all part of a Trivia team that was competing in trivia playoffs about an hour from here on Saturday. The guys spent the night with us as they live too far away from the playoff venue.

My parents arrived here at 7:30 yesterday morning. I was up around 5AM (on a Saturday!!!) and got my walk with Kaia before they arrived. They stayed until nearly 6PM, at which point I took Hana and a friend to a local carnival and dropped them off. Later we had to go pick them up again. We all went to a local ice cream hangout that is much loved by the local population. It is only open in warm weather and is an outdoor setting with picnic tables. I love going there occasionally because they carry a sugar-free, fat-free soft ice cream that is 100 calories for a cone! It is a great treat once in awhile!

Spencer and his trivia team came in 5th in the state and won $100. They were pretty happy with that. Now the sleepover crowd has grown by one so I have an extra 3 guys in my rec room asleep right now. Soon I will have to feed this college crowd, which should empty my fridge!

I am hoping to get a hike in this afternoon with Nora. I am waiting to hear if she got her work done in time for an escape!

Have a wonderful day!

Good Morning Sparkers,

Carolina, you enjoy these next few months of sleep for all of us girl. Do you have any vacations away from home planned for the summer?

Janet, many prayers for your friends wife, he certainly has a great friend in you. Glad that you were able to get some well needed rest yesterday. Good luck with getting your computer work done today.

Yesterday, I took off from exercise and I'm hoping to get one in today after my SIL leaves to go back home. I'm off now to get a healthy breakfast because my stomach right now is reminding me that I'm hungry.

Hi Team! I was feeling pretty good today even though it was pretty dreary outside. I slept in pretty late and worked on some things around the house. Didn't get much done on the computer so I guess I need to focus my attention there tomorrow.

I got an email from one of my friends that his wife is in the hospital. She's experiencing difficulty with her pregnancy and is now on bedrest for the rest of her term. She's due at the end of July. I'm going to make a gift basket of things for her to do and go and see her tomorrow after church. It is their first and I really hope things work out for them. We were supposed to have a couple's baby shower next weekend, but we've rescheduled it for after he is born. If you could, please say a little prayer for them.

Carolina - I've been meaning to find a doctor and start getting regular checkups. Heart disease runs in the family on my mom's side and I know I need to take some preventative measures now. It would also be good in figuring out why I've been on a plateau for so long here. I've also got to get some dental work done. For that, I do want to utilize a dental clinic in the area for those with no insurance. It sure feels Iike I'm falling apart. I've also got a vision screening scheduled for next Tuesday. Nothing like the threat of bifocals to really make you feel old! I've saved up a little bit to take care of some of this so now it is just finding (or making) the time for it.

Hope everyone else is having a good weekend. Take care and stay on track!

Hi everyone,

what a great day I had as I went out of town to watch my granddaughter in her dance recital. She does Jazz, Ballet and tap.
She did a solo tap routine and the ballet and jazz were with her team. At the end of the show she was one of the schools student who was selected to participate in the Thriller number which was the finale. Meagan even had a solo part in that which tickled my fancy. I am a very proud grandma for sure.

We went back to my daughters for dinner and she had ordered a sandwich tray of cold cuts on chibatta bread. I had not eaten since morning so I had two and was quite happy with that.

I am home now and just getting caught up with emails and stuff and wanted to pop in and say hello. Hope everyone here has had a great day like me.

Life is wonderful!

Morning gang. Had some hard storms again last night. Got woke up several times with thunder, lightning and rain. DH looked at the rain gauge and it had 1.5 inches in it.

I did not get to Zumba last night, they are not having it in June and July as the instructor is teaching swim lessons on that night. I did do a Zumba DVD at home yesterday afternoon so I was okay with it.

Today I am at work then we are going on a tractor ride at 1. We will be a few minutes late but they will wait on us. We have to travel about 30 miles to get there. I have everything ready to go, I'll even change clothes before I leave work. After the ride we'll have a meeting then a chicken bbq with everyone bringing a covered dish (with food in it of course) LOL. I'm taking fruit salad. At least there will be one thing healthy there.

We're really busy here at work, NOT. Between the two of us, we've had 7 customers since 8:30. Makes for a long day, even if it is only 4 hours today.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Good evening!

After a l o n g walk and 2 cardio videos from SP, I have the energy to do some cleaning... I just regret is already 10:45 pm. emoticon Oh well, I'll do some now and finish tomorrow.

It seems everyone is planning a good weekend. Make it count. I am trying to convince my friend to make it "active" and do some walking right after we meet for breakfast. It's hard, though, since it's humid and sticky since early in the morning and that makes it uncomfortable to be outside. We'll figure it out. Maybe we'll walk while shopping... That's an idea!

DEDRIE, I know I am spoiled. I even avoid summer school because I don't believe the kids are going to learn in one month that they couldn't master in 9. I just sleep a lot in the summer because my paperwork never seems to end during the school year and I usually don't get enough sleep. I feel blessed about the time off since it is invaluable when my daughter is off school with me.

JANET, whatever you got doesn't want to go away. Maybe is something other than allergies altogether. Is there a clinic where you can go for a quick check up? I am asking because there are some here in Houston, located in pharmacies, where you don't even need an appointment, they are inexpensive and they treat any small emergency. Keep us posted.

CHERYL, I was surprised when I started tracking my food of the deficiencies in my diet. I never image all the nutrients in the different foods. It's an eye opener. When is your next doctor's appointment?

Hoping everyone has good weather this weekend,

Carolina M.

Carolina, I must admit that I have been hit and miss with tracking my food. This new development has been an eye opener and I am going to start tracking religiously.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Hi Team! I've been feeling a bit better and catching up on my sleep this week. I've been taking Benadryl at night and getting at least 6 hours each night. The weather has changed pretty drastically. It was in the 90s until Thursday and today was only in the 60s. I thought the rain that came with it would be a relief since it knocked a lot of pollen out of the air, but I wasn't feeling well this afternoon either. I'm beginning to think maybe I'm developing a mold allergy. It never bothered me before, but with all the rain this spring, I guess it could happen.

Not much going on this weekend, so I'm planning on staying home and getting some work done. I haven't done much in the evenings this week so it will be good to do some catch up work.

Glad the rest of you seem to be managing in this icky weather and in life's struggles. I'll try and check in tomorrow to get caught up with everyone. Have a great start to the weekend!

Hello fellow Sparkettes,

hope you are having a great day as much as I am. I got a good workout since this morning doing yard work, housework and gardening.
MY puppies keep eating the new blooms on my flowers so now I have to put a low fence around them. What a nuisance. I have reprimanded them but I can't be with them every moment to watch.

I wanted to wish everyone a great weekend as I will be gone tomorrow. I am going out of town to see my granddaughter's dance recital and then on to my daughter's for a barbecue afterwards.
Have a great evening and remember to keep things healthy
