Hi team. Sorry I was MIA yesterday, computer problems. I'm only on here now because I also have a netbook. don't know what I did, I think I deleted a program and now I can't get into the internet on the laptop. I guess I'll either have to call the company or take it to someone that knows more about than me.

Anyways, have 2 DGDs here today, they stayed last night. DH has one at dance class and should be home within 1/2 hour. The oldest one is here with me and bored. We are going to make cookies here soon. They'll just be the break-apart kind but at least they'll be cookies. I'll make some real ones when I'm back on both feet.

Jen-thanks for the goodie. I do get very lonely here during the week. The first two weeks people called or stopped by but no one other than DH did this week and I get mighty stir crazy.

Gotta go. Donna

Hi Team!

I was trained on how to use my lymphodema management machine yesterday and I have had two treatments so far. I am supposed to do an hour in the morning on one leg and an hour in the evening on the other. I will do the best I can, but two hours a day (especially the one in the morning) will be tough.

I also got about 2/3s of my Christmas cards done. I plan to finish those today, go to the gym with Hana, run a couple of errands and do some grocery shopping. Spencer finishes his last finals today and will then be home until sometime in January when school resumes. I am looking forward to having him around the house for a few weeks.

I am looking forward to Christmas, but am also eager for the new year to begin. I need to get back to a more normal and more healthy schedule!

Hang in there everyone! emoticon

Hi Team,

Sorry I haven't been around much. This week has been long hours and hard work. The party was absolutely great. I am still hearing from residents and family about how much fun they had. I just love knowing that I helped make someone happy. Tonight was the candlelight dinner and it went real good, too. Tomorrow I will be off work by noon and then off for a week. Really need the time off to regenerate.

Planning on staying on track throughout the holidays. I will not use it as an excuse to over eat or eat a lot of sweets. Exercise will be my biggest challenge while my daughter is here because we will be busy doing other things. Hoping to get her to do some Wii dancing with me and the grandkids. She'll get a kick out of it.

Hope everyone is getting everything done that needs to be done. I know I have a long list but have decided that I'm not going to stress about it. I will get the most important things done and if something doesn't get done I'm usually the only one that notices anyway. LOL

Hi Team! It sure was a busy day, but I'm glad I was able to get some more shopping done after my shift at the gardens. I'm down to just 2 more gifts to get yet. Of course I have no idea what to get, but at least the big items are done and I can spend the weekend working on higher priority things on my To Do list.

I've got a lot going this weekend. Christmas dinner is at our place this year so I figured I'd finally bite the bullet and learn from my mom how to cook a holiday meal. I think that is the only way I'll learn how my mom makes her dressing that I love. So I've got to work on the meal plan this weekend, as well as haul wood, clean the house, do my Christmas cards, and bake Christmas goodies. I'd also like to find the cross-country skis my mom used to have. If she still has them I'm going to include them in a home workout regimine. If not, I'm going to look for some close outs or used ones after Christmas. Might as well find some good use for all the white stuff falling this season!

Dedrie - I can relate to easy work days lately, too! No congrats to me for getting a workout in last night. I had good intentions, but ended up getting a migraine before leaving here. So I went to bed early last night. I guess that is what I really needed!

Jen - Hope your day was a productive one!

Suzzy - Congrats on finishing your Christmas shopping! Sounds like you're as busy as I am trying to get ready. It may not feel like you're exercising but I'm sure you're burning a few calories with all the holiday preparations!

Hope everyone else is doing great. Have a great weekend!

emoticon Good morning everyone,

This has been an extremely eventful week for me running errands, appointments and finally getting my Christmas shopping done last night.
I have a few things to wrap and I will be finished for that part.

I am looking forward to starting on my menu for Christmas dinner and getting the house all shiny and sparkly clean. THis time of year always seems to get the house out of order and I absolutely hate disorder.

IT is so good to see everyone all in the Christmas spirit and staying on track with their healthy programs.
Dedrie you amaze me with your fitness dedication!
Cheryl your 2lbs loss must be a real motivator for you to keep up the great work.

I myself am just floating at the same weight but admittedly I have been very lax in fitness (almost non existent) for the past 2 weeks with being sick and then hustling to get every thing done before Christmas. I look forward to the after Christmas settle down where I can start fresh and feel more motivated to get the fitness in.

I am sending along best wishes to everyone for a great weekend and may it be a safe and healthy one.

Hi Team,

Today is Christmas card day. I had hoped to do them yesterday, but work reared its ugly head and demanded my attention.

I also have an appointment here at home to learn how to use the machine for my lymphodema. I am eager to put it to good use!

Have a great day! emoticon

Hi Team! Can't believe it is already Thursday and the end of my "work" week. I don't count my Fridays at the garden as work although they can feel like it sometimes. It sure has been a cold one. I was freezing all day and stopped by Biggby to get a coffee after work. I couldn't believe it when 4 teenagers came in behind me wearing t-shirts and shorts. I told them they were crazy. I was bundled up in my three layers with my hat, scarf and gloves on and still shivering. I checked the current weather conditions when I got to the office, and it was 27 degrees this afternoon. Am I showing how old I am or are they really crazy?

We know Donna is ready for the holidays, but how is everyone else doing? I still need to finish my shopping, do my Christmas cards, help mom plan the meal, and schedule some time with friends who will be in town or on break during the holidays. I sure could use another week! I guess I'd better schedule my days a little tighter!

I did pretty good yesterday getting in some exercise. I took my dog for a walk across the field (through the icy snow) and did 15 minutes on the Norditrack after I got home from Zumba. I'll be doing more tonight but haven't decided what I'll do yet.

Dedrie - Good luck with the evening exercise routine streak!

Tameka - Hope you were able to get your zzzz's!

Cheryl - Big congrats on the loss! Hope the holiday party was great. Good luck with the dinner tomorrow!

Donna - Hope you are finding ways to fill your days. QVC could be a dangerous pastime! I'd love a few days at home alone to get some things done, but I don't think I'd use them very productively. I'd want to spend them reading instead!

Jen - Glad the holiday party was a hit. Hope you were able to get some things done at home and take it easy today.

See everyone tomorrow!

Hi Team!

Sorry I didn't make it by here yesterday. I left home at 7AM and made it back home last night at 11:30PM. What a day!

We had our annual holiday party last night and it was fabulous, as always. I only dread it beforehand because of the lateness of it and my long drive home. Typically, Tonia and my secretary and I do the planning, but this year our staff members took over. They organized a choir from the people we served and last night they performed 7 or 8 songs. They did a fantastic job and were SOOOO happy to be doing it. It was just wonderful. We also had other entertainment that they rounded up from various places plus a sit-down dinner and dancing. It was a huge success and the best party yet!

Today I get to stay home and get some things ready for Christmas!

Have a great day!

Jen emoticon

Good for you Dedrie for sticking with the program.

Morning team. Sorry I didn't get back to you yesterday, I was just so busy doing nothing. LOL. Actually, I did some ordering on Qvc. I know I said I was done shopping for Christmas, and I am, but I saw a couple things that I couldn't resist. One thing i bought for DH, one thing for DH and I, one thing for me and one for my DIL. QVC and I are good friends.

I don't have anything planned for today except working on church books. Year end reports will soon be due so I thought I'd get a jump on them. Also, DH and I may go to the grocery store tonight when he gets home from work. We'll see.

Hope everyone has a great day and stays warm.

Good evening all,

This morning I woke up bright and early and got in my morning workout. I had a productive day at work thinking I was going to leave at 2, but ended up leaving at 8pm. One of my co-workers had to go home early and I didn't mind the extra hours. Today was the holiday party, which was fun. I had a little bit of everything and actually stayed in my calorie range. Yes I logged everything when I got home, plus I jumped on my treadmill for another 30 min. Now I am on day #2 of geting in my evening workout.

Have a great night Sparkers!

Hi team. I now have nothing to do. I finished my cards yesterday and DH took them to the mailbox today. The wrapping, packaging, etc. are all done and now have the tv, computer and a magazine for company. WooHoo, not. I have no more drs. appts. this week or meetings and I'm here all day long by myself. Sounds like fun, huh?

I did weigh in last night, sort of by standing on one leg, and I weighed the same. I guess that's okay concidering I can't do much. Using crutches is hard work so I suspect that that's why I'm not gaining.

Sounds like everyone is running around trying to get last minute things done for Christmas. Please be careful out there with all the snow flying around. I haven't had much here but I know one day we will get hit.

I'll check in later. I need to get some breakfast. Stay warm.

Hi Team,

I actually lost 2 pounds this last week. I am so excited and it will really help with my motivation.

Busy week at work. Tomorrow night is the Resident Holiday Party. We have a group called the Dickens Carolers come to sing, they stroll through the building singing while other stuff is going on. They are really awesome.

Then we have a gift for every resident that Santa gives out. Lots of food goodies, wine, eggnog, etc. The residents really enjoy this party and their faces light up like little kids. So I will be working a 12 hour day tomorrow and not get home until after 9:00.

Then Friday is a Candlelight dinner at work and I will be working late then too. But then comes Saturday, which will be a short day since I will work so many hours during the week and then comes my much needed vacation! Woo Hoo!!

Jen, we have the same thing happen here when it snows. The least little bit and everything runs late or is closed down. It always amazes me.

Hope everyone has a Wonderful Wednesday!

Hi all,

Jen, I do once again that you were able to get everything accomplished today? Were you able to get your special sale item? Jen that is pretty funny with the 2 hour delay for hardly no snow, LOL.

Suzzy, it is great to hear that you are feeling better today and that your puppy is enjoying the snow. I am smiling just thinking about him rolling around in the white snow. Have you taken any pics?

Janet, glad that the snow/ice isn't really slowing you down too much with all that you have o do. WTG with trying to up your exercise and keeping your eating under control. I know it's not, but i know YOU CAN DO IT! Let's be strong together. You are always soooo kind, THANK YOU for being YOU!

I have been thinking/saying for a while that I wanted to add in an evening routine. So today while the kids took their bath and got ready for bed, I jumped on e treadmill for 30 min. It felt great and I am sooo going to see how many times this week I could get this in. G'night Sparkers!

Tameka - Woo Hoo! Logging all the food you eat is an accomplishment! Congrats and continued good work!

Jen - Glad the snow didn't flip you out and you were able to enjoy some family time out. I do have to laugh about the snow delays for so little snow. We got about 3-4 inches of the heavy wet snow early Sunday then another 1-2 inches of the light cold blowing variety in the afternoon and evening. Hope work goes a little better for you tomorrow. Good luck with the holiday party, too!

Dedrie - I would have totally called you crafty! It takes a wise and crafty person to work around your work schedule and still have time for your family and exercise for yourself! Congrats and good luck with the holiday plans for your family get together, how exciting!

Cheryl - Woo Hoo on your exercise streak! I'm glad you have some vacation time coming. You sure do deserve some time off, especially with your family visiting. Enjoy!

Donna - Happy belated B-Day! Sounds like you had a good time. I agree on the postage, yikes! Sending regular cards can add up, too. Any chance your haircut will help you out with weigh in at TOPS? I need to get mine cut again. My hair grows so fast, and it is very thick. I figure I could lose a pound with a cut and thinning!

Suzzy - Glad you are feeling better today. You can always vent your stress and frustrations with us! I agree with Donna, though. Only do what you can and forget the rest. Enjoying the holidays is about spending time with family and friends, the rest is just incidental. Hope you aren't getting too much snow. That can really get you down, I'm sick of it already!

Dutchie! Thanks for the well wishes! Hope you are enjoying your summer down under and are all ready for the holidays.

Hope everyone else is okay and hanging in there!

Hi Team! I made it home alright Sunday night although it was pretty icy. The snow stopped overnight so it wasn't too bad Monday for my comute, although it was like driving on an ice rink to get to the main roads.

I had a busy Monday with a load of activites. I was scheduled at 9 am to go to the gardens to greet bus groups. Only a few of the schools planning on coming were closed due to the weather, so I had to go in. I was there all morning until 1:30 pm, then we had a docent meeting/party until 4pm. Then I went to tutor until 6pm before heading to Zumba until 7:30. Made for a long day, but I was pleased to get to all the places I needed to. And I slept good last night!

I can sympathize with everyone struggling with the eating and exercising. I've been eating horribly and am trying to get that under control again. As for the exercise, I'm doing better since last week after my little epiphany. I realized I need to do more than just my Zumba classes. So I'm trying to step it up at home. It is still hard to get motivated, so I've added another mini challenge for the exercise challenge this week. It is open for anyone, not just those participating in the challenge. If you're interested in logging a weird way to burn some calories this week, check it out. Here's the link:

It might be kind of fun to see how everyone is burning calories in their holiday preparations (or in other ways!)

Any fun ways we can motivate each other to eat better?

Good morning everyone,

oh how great it feels to be on the mend. I actually feel pretty good today with just a minor tummy ache so I guess Santa is making my Christmas wish come to true to be healthy and well for Christmas.

We are getting bombarded with snow snow and more snow right now. I have shoveled the back deck once but have to go out again.
Roads are slippery but I am used to driving in it. One must just take caution and know how to get out of a skid if it happens (and it does)

I am hoping to get out and do some shopping today if the city can keep the roads plowed. The snow coming down now is tiny flakes and light enough so it should make it alright for getting around.

MY puppy loves the snow and gets out there and buries herself in it. Amazing that a ShihTsu would enjoy it so much.

I got my cards all mailed out on Saturday and now my tree is completed so just need to finish shopping, make my cabbage rolls to go with Christmas dinner and I will be ready for the BIG day.

Wishing all a great day.

Dutchie, glad to see you hon. Hope you are living the healthy life.

Hi Team! (Hi, Dutchie!)

I got a lot of work done yesterday, but not everything I had hoped for. Now I have to meet with our IT guy to deal with a problem on our website. I wanted to do some work on our policies and procedures yesterday, but couldn't get the P&P to download. That threw a wrench into my plans.

Today I plan to finish Christmas shopping. I don't have a lot to do, but have been waiting for a specific item to go on sale and now it has! Later this afternoon I take Hana back to Baltimore to see the surgeon. We are so hoping that he discharges her today and lets her return to all previous activities. She is really tired of the restrictions. It is now nearly 8 months since her ACL surgery.

I hope to also get some cards done today. Every little bit counts!

We awoke to a dusting of snow. Believe it or not, we have a 2-hour delay for school. Don't laugh -- this is Maryland. No one here seems to know how to drive in snow. I grew up in Pennsylvania and am pretty accustomed to it. (Instant idiots - just add water!)

Have a great day!

Jen emoticon

Hi Team,

Busy weekend for me. I finally finished my Christmas sewing. emoticon
Got a little more Christmas shopping done, grocery shopping, laundry and got some presents wrapped. Still not feeling like I'm over my cold. I actually think I may have a sinus infection, AGAIN! Unfortunately I get these a lot, however, I really don't want to have any surgery for it.

One more week of work and I will have a weeks vacation, which will actually be 9 days off because of the weekends. I really need it! Plus my youngest daughter will be here from New York that week and I am very excited about it. We will go down to my folks for a visit along with my other daughter and the grandkids, do some shopping and just hang out. There is so much I want to get done around the house before she gets here, but have decided that I will just do my best and prioritize.

Tonight while eating dinner I realized that I was full enough, not stuffed, and I put down my fork and didn't eat any more. That was a biggie for me. I often eat more than I need to just because it is on my plate.

Hope no one is getting hit too hard with the bad weather everywhere.

Have a good week all!!

Good evening all,

This morning,i sooo didn't want to get out of bed because I wanted to stay curled up under my covers. I must have it snooze 2 or 3 times before actually getting, but when I did I got in my hour workout. Then went off to work, to come home to homework and my daughters dance recital. She always does excellent and I love seeing her joy allove her face. Chat with you all later, I am off to get dinner on the table.

Hi team. No snow yet. Yippee! It's staying west of the mountain today so that makes me happy. I know some day it will hit us but for now we dodged another bullet.

Had my annual exam today and everything was great. Dr. was very happy with me. Imagine this picture, me with my bumb foot trying to put it in stirrups. Not a pretty sight. LOL Now that I've turned 50, I get the double whammy of a bone density test and colonoscopy. Oh joy! The bone density I have scheduled for next Wednesday. The colonoscopy isn't until January.

Tomorrow I get a haircut then it's TOPS in the evening.

Suzzy-I hope you are feeling better real soon. Christmas is no time to get sick. Don't worry about all the little stuff, if it doesn't get done then who cares. Get what truly needs to be done first then as you feel up to it and there's time, then you can work on them.

I hope everyone has a great rest of the day. Stay warm.

Good morning everyone,

seems this is a very busy time for everyone.
I have been scarce her at Spark People and online because I have been sick with some sort of gastric bug that I picked up while away.
The last few days have been the worst and today I am not much better.
I have so much to do to get ready for Christmas and don't know how it will happen.

My tree is only half decorated as the weekend was too busy to complete it. I barely have half my Christmas gifts bought and don't have a clue what to get anyone. I am stressed to the max. Oh how I hare to complain but wanted to let you know that I am still here but will be scarce until I am feeling better.
I find myself needing to sleep a lot but am making an appointment to see the doctor and hopefully he can get to the bottom of what I have. Of course having fibromyalgia doesn't help but that's just something I live with.

I am sending best wishes out to everyone to have a great day and a wonderful week ahead. Hoping to be able to share with you once again in a few days.
THanks for understanding. emoticon

Hello all of you Busy Bees,

The holiday season and the weather seem to be catching up with us all. Everyone is running around like mad trying to get everything done.

I survived my two parties yesterday and didn't go crazy, but I can't brag either. I am just not in total control with the food these days. I want to change that, but seem to just keep racing from one thing to another and really feel the need to look more deeply within to get the answers I need about this. At this point, I am truly just trying to get through the holidays without any additional damage and hope to begin fresh after Christmas.

Today is a serious work day. I have a number of things that I need to clear off my desk before the holidays begin. It will probably take all day for me to get these things done (possibly more than today) Then I still have cleaning, Christmas cards and wrapping to do. I have a few things to pick up this week, but know what I need to get and where to get them. Then shopping will be completed. Wednesday is my day in the office and it will be another long one as our annual holiday party is that night. We have a sit-down dinner and dance for the people we serve, as well as family members and staff. I always dread it beforehand and then have a wonderful time. I dread it because it gives me such a long day and then a late drive home, but it is the highlight of the year for many of the people we serve. Seeing them so happy makes it all worthwhile.

Have a happy day! emoticon

Hi Team! Sorry I didn't take the time to read up on how everyone is doing. I had to serve as a lector at church tonight otherwise I wouldn't have made it in. There is a winter storm warning out and the roads are horrible. I talked my folks into going to Mass with me tonight so they didn't have to drive in the thick of it this morning, and I was able to talk them into stopping by the office real quick on the way home.

I won't be able to stop in here until after work on Tuesday and I didn't want anyone to worry. I've got a busy day tomorrow so I hope the winter storm blows itself out, but I guess I'm prepared for driving in it tomorrow anyways.

Hope the weather is better for you! Take care and have a great start to the week! I'll see you after work Tuesday!

Good afternoon team. Thanks again for all the birthday wishes. Dinner at Texas Roadhouse last night was good. I opted for the steak and ribs meal. I couldn't eat it all so I brought the rest home. It will probably be my dinner tomorrow evening. I have a Christmas party to go to at 5:30 this evening.

Yesterday DH and I finished packing up all the presents that get mailed and got them all off to the post office. It cost us $81 to mail 6 packages. YIKES! Now I just have to get all the cards addressed and out. That will get done in the next couple of days.

Today it is raining, it's supposed to change to snow sometime tonight. Hope it doesn't get too bad as I have a drs appt. tomorrow for my annual exam. Should be a treat trying to get in the stirrups with a bumb foot. LOL It will work out somehow.

Jen-that is wonderful about your insurance paying for the equipment. Totally awesome.

I hope everyone has a good rest of the weekend.

Hi team!

I have two parties to attend today --- send me some strength! I have the ornament party at 2PM and Hana's Tae Kwon Do party at 5:30PM. It will be a day full of food and temptation. I am headed to the treadmill when I finish here at the computer.

I hope you all have a happy day full of strength and determination!

Good afternoon team. I don't have much time as DH is taking me out for my birthday to Texas Roadhouse. It's one of our favorite places to eat. I just wanted to pop in and say thank you for making me feel better and for all the goodies and comments for my birthday. I really do appreciate it and it has lifted my spirits. I will catch up on all the posts either tomorrow or Monday but for now I have to run. LOL.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Good Morning Team,

Just wanted to drop in real quick before I head into work. I got up to exercise this morning without hitting my snooze alarm. That's 2 out of 3 days! Woo Hoo! Doing pretty good on the food, except for last night. DH bought me an Angus Burger from McDonalds and besides being more than I needed to eat,it sat on my stomach like a brick. Felt sick all night. But I'm not going to beat myself up or give up. I'll just get right back on the horse.

I'm with you Jen, it's so hard this time of year because I am trying to get so much done before Christmas. It makes it too easy to slip up.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Good morning Sparkers,

Donna, I am sooo sorry you had such a rough morning and I do hope you feel better this morning. How is wrapping coming along? Know that we are always here for you.

Jen, that is a great holiday gift! I am glad that your PT and insurance company is taking good care of you. I am sooo not a crafty person, your ornaments sound like fun. My kids will totally enjoy doing this.

Suzzy, try and enjoy the holiday season no matter how crazy and busy your days are. Thanks for finding a little bit of time to stop by and say hello and I hope you get some relaxing time soon.

Tricia, I wish a wonderful weekend as well.

Donna, you are doing soooo well and I know how you feel with being inspired again. I have surely been there and make yourself proud my friend. Ifi can do this, I know you can too. Keep counting your calories and I know you will do great with your workout. I just love my treadmill because I have no excuses for not getting in m walk.

Tameka, I was well surprised that my son actually warmed up dinner while my daughter finished homework. They just grow up soooooo fast. Isn't it great that your two little ones could play together to give you a little break?

Yesterday I went the stores and almost finished up some shopping. Now I just need hubby to take our holiday dishes from the attic to see what we need to get. I need to make sure that I have enough silverware and plates to feed everyone. This is the first year we will be having Christmas dinner at my house. Normally I make a dish and head to a family members house. I am actually excited to have everyone come and have this be our first year the kids wake upin our house to open gifts.

Hi Team!

I am having a really good week, yet I am still struggling with the food and exercise. I know why the exercise is an issue. It is because I am running around (again) like a chicken with its head cut off as I try to get ready for Christmas and do all the usual stuff, too. The eating is another issue, and I think it has to do with just allowing my healthy habits to slide for too long. I have to get back to the healthy life I lived for a good two and 1/2 years or more.

Yesterday we had our first snow. It was a little Alberta Clipper. It came through very suddenly, dumped its snow quickly and wreaked havoc on our area. It began around 10AM as I was headed to my lymphodema treatment. I came out about 40 minutes later to about 1/2 to 1 inch of snow and flipped-out drivers. There were accidents everywhere on the highways. Fortunately, I knew how to get home on side streets, though it seemed to take forever. Spencer, Hana and I tried to go out for dinner and a movie, leaving home around 5:15. The roads were backed up everywhere as people tried to get home from work. We ended up making a u-turn and going back into our neighborhood, which has a little shopping center within it. There we have a grocery store, pharmacy, bank, liquor store, coffee shop, barber, nail salon, childcare center, Chinese restaurant and Italian restaurant. (We are darn near self-sustaining!) We had a pizza at the Italian place and then made it out a later showing of the latest Harry Potter movie.

Today, I will take Hana to TKD and then come home to try to finish the ornaments. When she is done, I will meet her and we will hit the gym. I need it desperately!

I hope you are all doing well, despite weather and holiday preparations and all the other stuff hitting you.

Suzzy, Thank your nephew for me! emoticon

Hugs,

Jen

Hi All,

I'm running through to say HELLO and wish everyone a wonderful weekend!!! My pat on the back this week is that I logged ALL of my food, even though my eating habits have not been up to par. Terrible actually!! Lol... But I'm coming back in baby steps!!!

JC, another great leader to our already wonderful leadership team!!!

Dedrie, thanks for the heads up on the BL!! I can't wait until my little men can warm up dinner!! Lol... Guess I'm lucky that they can play together to give me 5 minutes to do something else.

Jen, great on getting the new machine. I agree with Suzzy, I worked in health insurance for the past 7+ years. That is amazing!

Donna, glad to hear you had another great time at the party. Peach pie sounds yummy! And I say, let your DH do all the shopping. I definitely would!!

I hope everyone enjoys their weekend!! Stay WARM!!! I'm off to watch a movie with the kiddies.

Hi Team! We dodged a bullet last night. Instead of the 3-4 inches of snow, we got about 1 1/2-2 albeit with a little freezing rain mix. They are also saying the big storm for Saturday night won't be as bad either. That is good news as I've got a lot of running around to do this weekend.

I sort of had an epiphany last night. For my workout I got on the Norditrack which I really hadn't been on in awhile. I did 20 minutes at the same settings and didn't do too bad. I thought I'd be all out of breath, but it was enough to give me a good workout without killing myself. So that got me thinking. When I first started losing weight on SP, I was dropping a lot of weight and my workouts on the treadmill and Norditrack were torture. Since then, it is a struggle to lose again. Up then down, down then up... enough to drive you crazy. So why didn't the unexpected workout kill me? I don't think I'm working hard enough! I've been lax on my eating habits (I went over my calorie range again yesterday) and although I'm getting regular exercise, it is only enough to maintain my weight not lose more.

So my little revelation has taught me this: If I want to lose more weight, I'm going to have to bring back my healthy eating habits and work harder in my workouts. Horrible that it has taken me forever to figure that out! But I'm inspired again and ready to take the rest off.

Thanks for all the kind words about me joining the team leadership. It is indeed a privilege!

Dedrie - Hope you are enjoying your day off, but knowing you, you're probably hard at work around the house!

Donna - I'm sure you'll have a few bad days in your recovery. Just remember you're healing and it was a lot worse before your surgery! Take it easy, it will improve!

Jen - That's great news! I guess there are a few good things to be said for insurance!

Suzzy - I figured you were still playing catchup from being gone. Good luck bowling tonight. I'm so glad your nephew will be home safe and sound. Safety for soldiers stationed overseas is one of my daily prayers, as is peace on earth!

Tricia - Hope you are enjoying the season. Be sure to get your "running around" workout in, too!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Donna, it sounds like you have been through a real ordeal and I hope every day gets better and better for you, and that you'll be running around on two healthy feet very soon!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone! Enjoy the beautiful lights, music and the holiday cheer that abound during the Christmas season!

Good morning all,

I have been MIA at most this week as I have been on the go every day and night since returning home from vacation. Reality has set in as to why we went away on vacation at this time of year and it's because life is just so darned busy.
Sometimes I wonder how did I work full time midnights for my last 3 years of nursing and take care of all the things I am taking care of still today and more.

I want to thank Janet for becoming joining the leadership of this team and I know all the hard work you put in will reap benefits for everyone.
You are a good friend and will truly be appreciated as a leader in this team.

Well as I said, I am busy busy busy and I am off now to take my oldest daughter out of town. She has a job to do and I am going to help her as best I can for 2 hours.

We have our bowling league tonight and have no clue how that will go as hubby's knees are in so much pain and my back is also still giving me trouble. I think it is time for both of us to take a break from the bowling for a while.

I do hope everyone is doing well as they prepare for the Christmas Season.
MY nephew will be back home tomorrow from his 7 month tour of duty in afghanistan. We are so excited that he has made it safely and pray he won't have to return.

Have a wonderful and healthy day everyone. emoticon

Hi Everyone!

I have another busy day ahead as I have two appointments and must get these ornaments finished.

Dedrie, I am making clay penguins this year with little hats and scarves in bright colors. I use Sculpey or Fimo clay which can be purchased in any craft store. It is pretty easy to use. I find the worst part to be rolling it around until it is soft and pliable. When I first started using it I made simple things like snowflakes which can be rolled out with a rolling pin and cut out with cookie cutters. Then you can cut out little openings inside the shape and decorate it. Don't forget to make a little hole at the top for a hanger. Then you bake the ornaments in the oven (the wrappers on the clay tell you how long to bake and at what temperature). They make great little gifts, too. I'm sure the kids would get a kick out of it.

I have another treatment on my legs today and got some great news yesterday. My PT wanted me to get a special machine that does the massaging for me and can be used at home. I had a demo last week and loved the machine but it costs about $9,000. I got a call yesterday from the company that makes the machine telling me that my insurance company will pay the entire cost for me to have the machine! I am so excited. It will be delivered today or Monday. Then someone will come from the company to teach me how to use it. I am thrilled!

I have to run! Have a great day!

Morning team. I am feeling very frustrated today with not being able to do much, and anything I do takes forever to do. I made 2 messes while trying to fix my breakfast and got so upset that I threw my crutches on the floor and cried. Then I had to clean the messes up, which one of them was an egg. Not nice. I guess I'm just in need of a good cry and pity party.

The drs. appt. yesterday went well. She was very pleased with how it looked. I was surprised at how many stitches there actually are. Now I have a small feet and tiny toes, but there are stitches from the toenail to the foot on one toe, stitches from the inside, across the top and down the other side of the other toe with a few stitches on the outside of it at the top next to that toenail, then a good 6 inch incision from my arch to about mid-heel. They took more xrays then wrapped it all back up in clean bandages and the soft cast. I go back again on the 20th and they'll probably start to take some of the stitches out. They don't like to take all of them out at once for fear that if you put any weight on it that the incisions will break back open. No, I didn't get to be put in the boot like I'd hoped but I do understand their reasoning. I really can feel a difference that there isn't as much padding as the ice penetrats it much more.

Our Christmas party last night was very good. It was held at a church and they did a wonderful job.
And of course the food was scrumptious. Choices of pie for dessert. I opted for a peach pie, DH had blueberry. Very good.

Janet-thank you for being a leader for this team. I myself always thought you were because you do and bring so much to the team, as does the other leaders.

Gotta run, yeah right. I absolutely must finish wrapping today then get to the cards and packaging things up to get shipped. Later.

Donna

Good morning all,

Janet, emoticon on becoming a leader of our wonderful team! You have such an p emoticon attititude! emoticon on your healthy eating the other day, YOU CAN DO IT. Every time I workout, the biggest loser is in my head. I actually pushes me to do a little more when I am ready to stop.

Since I have been waking up early I have been going heading to bed around 9pm. This is why I am wide awake, even on my day off. I guess I should just get changed to get in my workout routine. NO EXCUSES!

Hi Team! I'm trying as fast as I can to get the things done I need to do tonight. We've got a lake enhanced snow system coming in tonight. They say 3-4 inches which is only 1/2 of what they say to expect Saturday and Sunday. I'm sick of the snow and cold already! At least with the way time flies it will be spring in no time, right?!

I'm patting myself on the back for yesterday's healthy habits. We had a holiday potluck at work and I logged everything I ate yesterday and only went 50 cal over. I also went for a 20 minute walk with my dog (over the fields of snow and cold) before going to Zumba, so I did pretty good in the workout category too. Now if I can only keep it up! I want to get a good workout in yet tonight when I get home.

Dedrie - Glad your little one is feeling better. The flu bug sure is going around here, but I'm staying healthy by taking all my supplements. I can totally tell you're inspired by the Biggest Loser this season! Congrats on getting your workouts in!

Jen - Hope you were able to make a dent in your "To Do" list. The ornament party sounds great. I'd be a horrible addition as I am so NOT crafty. Enjoy your personal time the rest of this week!

Donna - Glad you are enjoying the season, even if you have to limp your way through it. Glad to hear your spirits are up and you're improving. Be careful what you wish for in snowfall - it WILL come!

Tameka - I guess you could call your son St. Nicolas for helping you out, huh?! Definately enjoy it while you can!

Cheryl - I read your blog and and was thoroughly inspired by it. Truth is we share a lot in common on all those "failures." I've been silently struggling too and ashamed to admit I've gained back 1/2 of what I had lost as well. But I think we've both opened our eyes and are back on the right track. Thanks for your bravery in telling it like it is. I know I'm not that brave. I'm with you, though - Let's make it happen this December and in 2011!

Stay warm everyone! See you tomorrow!

Good evening all,

Donna,it is great that you had a wonderful time at your Christmas celebrations. Also that you are finding things to keep you occupied troughout the day. WTG with listening to your body and knowing whe you just need to relax and take it easy.

Jen, an ornament party sounds like lots of fun. What are you making this year? Is it something simple that I could make with my kids? Enjoy your break with hubby gone for a few days.

Tameka, I totally hope the little ones didn't get into too much trouble when they were quite today. They really weren't paired off by color that much this season. Right now there are 2 guys who are definitely in the finally and then America votes for one of the bottom 2 who fell below the yellow line. It's going to be a great show next week.

Cheryl, I do hope that were able to get some rest today. Did you have to gin to work? Getting your thoughts written down always seems to make you feel better. Woohoo! I am also looking forward to start a new year.

Today was a great day because I woke up, got in a workout, which always helps me to keep my eating under control though out the day. Plus, my day at work went by soooo quickly I didn't even want to think about food. Now I am home finishing up homework and then get dinner on the table. Actually, my daughter is going to be warming up dinner. I always enjoy the extra help.

Good morning. We had our first measurable snow last night. Only a 1/4 inch but that's 1/4 too much. Just one of those nuisance snows. We see the sunshine today in and out of the clouds. It's good to see it.

I have a busy day today. I have a post-op appt late this morning then we'll get a bite to eat then and then to the grocerie store. I'm not too proud that I won't ride one of their electric carts. I know I can't do crutches all over the store. And if they happen to not have one available then DH will just have to do all the shopping. Oh, my. LOL. Then I need to stop by the bank then home. We also have a Christmas party to go to tonight. I'm sure I'll be ready to fall into bed when we finally get home for good tonight.

Tameka-AAHHH, a shower. It would be nice if I could get a real shower. All I can do right now is lean over the tub and clean up good. No getting the bandages wet. I can't wait for the day when I can actually stand under the water.

Jen-I know what you mean when you say you feel a little freer when DH is away for a short time. So do I. It's like we can get all kinds of things done without our "kids" underfoot.

Well I'd better get going. I'll catch you all tomorrow. Stay warm.

Donna

Hi Team!

I am headed out in 15 minutes to meet a friend for coffee. Then this afternoon I have to get to work making ornaments. I have a friend who has an ornament party every year. Each person who attends makes enough ornaments to share with every other person there. It is always lots of fun and the ornaments are really nice. This year I am making clay penguins. I have known for months what I was going to do, but just haven't gotten around to doing them. The party is on Sunday so I have to get going!

Craig left for FL this morning to visit his mother. He will be gone for 4 days. I always enjoy these visits. It feels a little like a vacation. It isn't that he is demanding or anything. Things just somehow feel freer when he is gone for a little while. Anyway, I plan to enjoy it.

Have a great day!
