Good morning Sparkettes.

I am here to emoticon everyone's but that needs it including my own.
This is the one month in the year that we MUST get the extra weight off and get as fit as possible because next month is the most challenging of all with Christmas and New Years parties to attend.

Let's plan on really working hard and I challenge you all to lose at minimum of 3 pounds this month as well as keeping a happy spirit while doing so.
I would love to see everyone posting smiley faces at the end of the day to show they had a good day of successful healthy living.

What do you say guys, is this a challenge you can live up to?
Jen, how does this sound for you?

Would like some feedback ladies....I double dog dare you all on this challenge!

Hi Everyone!

Yesterday was the end of a horrible month for me in terms of taking care of myself. I believe it was the point in which the slip I had been experiencing for a few months turned into a slide. I gained 5.3 pounds in October, and today I commit to a renewed commitment to myself. I blogged about it yesterday and today and will post a daily blog about my progress. I cannot go back to the way I used to be. I have spent time planning, and I think it will make all the difference for me. I have to build new healthy habits in my new environment. In order to do that, I am going to be really strict with myself this month.

I encourage your kicks to keep me honest with myself and on track!

Hi everyone, Trick or Treat......we have a total of 5 kids come to the door and one was our neighbors little girl who I called over as I had a big bag of goodies, books and neat things for her.
Besides here there was one little boy and a group of 3 little girls.

Next year I am not going to buy any candy or treats except for the neighbors little girl. I think we will just go out instead because it is not worth getting a package of candy for just 5 or 6 kids and I hate having it left over.

Hubby and I ate a chocolate bar so I am ending the month on a treat!

Tomorrow the trick will be to get back on track and work hard at losing the last few pounds that I have been trying for the last couple of months. I am increasing my strength training this month and getting more serious about my cardio.
Walking has been limited because of the rain and cold damp weather and then having MIL a couple times a week. I don't want to have any excuses next month and it will be dedicated to me doing for me.

Hope everyone has had a healthy weekend and I will be back next month.....oh yes that's tomorrow. Good night all. emoticon

Hi Team! It was pretty low attendance in church tonight since everyone is out trick or treating. Although it did help us move mass along pretty quickly. I haven't been at a mass under an hour in a long time! Anyways it is also quiet here at the office for getting some things done. I've turned on the heat so I'll be nice and toasty, too.

Dedrie - I hope you had a good time with family this weekend. Congrats for resisting the movie popcorn! What did you end up seeing?

Suzzy - Congrats on your bowling results! Glad to hear your hearing is okay, too. Did you get any trick or treaters?

Cheryl - Glad to hear the Fat Cat was a success!

Jen - Hope your thumb heals okay. My chiropracter works on my arm tendons each week for mobility in my hands. It hurts like crazy, but it sure does help keep my hands from cramping up. Glad you are enjoying time with your new neighbors!

Donna - We don't get trick or treaters either. I don't think we've had one in more than 20 years! Hope your back is feeling better. Epsom salt baths seem to help me.

Enjoy the rest of your Halloween!

Hi Everyone!

Yesterday was a fun day for me. I cleaned the main level of the house and got some other chores done. I took Hana out to lunch and ran some errands. In the evening, Hana had a babysitting job that lasted overnight so Craig and I were able to go to an Oktoberfest/Halloween party in our new neighborhood. It was so much fun. We met a lot of our neighbors and really had a blast.

Today, I will be baking and taking food to Nora's family. I also need to get out in the car with Hana for some practice driving. We have been so busy that we haven't worked at this enough.

Have a terrific day!

Evening All, I have just made it back from lunch with hubby and then a movie. The key for me is heading to a movie full and then I wouldn't want my bit bag of popcorn. Yeeeah me! I went in with a green tea from lunch and stayed away from the candy. That is typically hard for me! Hubby has just taken the kids to a Halloween party and I am hoping to talk him into something else later on tonight. Not sure what yet though! I enjoy spending time out with him because it doesn't happen often.

Hope you all are doing well!

Morning team. The sun is shining here, albeit it's pretty chilli. Down in the 30's this morning. Warming to mid 50's though today. More of the same tomorrow.

Sounds like everyone is really busy with festivities this weekend. We aren't going to be home for trick or treating tonight, we never have any anyways. I live in a very rural area. I always make some up for the grandkids though. The rest gets stashed in a cabinet, out of sight, out of mind. Hubby eats at them.

My back still is achy. I laid on the heating pad again last night. I think I might need a good soak and a good stretch, and maybe some tylenol too.

Jen-I'm glad it's nothing too serious with your thumb, although tendonitis is very painful.

Have a good the weekend everyone.

Good Morning Sparkers,

This morning, I have a house filled with kids running around. We are making breakfast and then I am going to send them outside to enjoy this beautiful weather. My hubby was out late last night, so he's still sleeping. Hoping he wakes up soon and then we could plan our day together.

Chat with you all later!

Good Saturday morning, Team!

The doctor says I have tendonitis in my thumb. I am now taking anti-inflammatories and wearing a thumb brace.

This is the first weekend since we moved into our new house that isn't jam-packed with either "move-in work" or events. I am really looking forward to doing everyday tasks, getting some exercise and relaxing with the family. I made soup on Thursday and plan to take some of it and some other food to Nora's parents. They say that her father has about 4 weeks left. I will miss him.

The painter's began work on our house yesterday. They got the front windows and the garage door done and some work on one side of the house. I can't wait to see the final result.

Donna, I'm sure you were a fine hippie! emoticon

Dedrie, Have fun with your hubby today!

Suzzy, Congrats on the hearing test! I'm glad you don't need hearing aids.

Janet, Enjoy all the Halloween festivities at the gardens!

Jennifer, What are you up to this weekend?

Cheryl, Are the grandkids excited about Trick or Treating?

Nickey, We all know what your plans for the weekend are! emoticon

Have a great day!

Jen

Morning Team,

The Halloween party for the residents went well. Except for the fact that the second person hitting the pinata broke it open so nobody else got a chance. I pinned monopoly money all over my "fat cat" costume and got lots of laughs. However, the costume was very hot and I couldn't wait to get it off.

Hope everyone has a great Saturday! I'm off to work.

Hello everyone,

what an extremely busy week this has been. Where did it go????!!

We just got home from bowling and I was so happy with my last game when I bowled a 160. I am not the best bowler so a 160 puts a smile on my face.

Jen, sounds like maybe you have some gout in your thumb. Just speculating however. If there was no injury to it perhaps your uric acid is high which would cause gout.. Eating cherries or drinking cherry concentrate helps with eliminating the effects of goat on joints just in case you are diagnosed with that.

My hearing test went well and I am merely borderline for needing hearing aids. I told my granddaughter that it was not me that had a hearing problem but her that had a speech problem and she must learn to articulate her words when addressing me and also face me so I can read her lips.

I have had a reprieve from needing to get aids for now.

Tomorrow my MIL is coming again for dinner as well as my husbands cousin who is visiting. IT should be a nice visit as we don't get to see her too often and she has always been a "special one"

I'm hoping for dry skies tomorrow so I can get out early with Homer and do a good power walk.
I hope everyone is ready for trick and treats and but stay away from the treats okay.

I like the idea of handing out tooth brushes and dental floss. WE get at the most about a dozen kids here because we live in such a remote area. There are only a couple little children on our street and the other streets don't come down this far.

Well I am off to track my food and fitness for the day. Hope you all enjoy your weekend. emoticon emoticon

Good Evening Sparkers,

I came home and had my early dinner and fell asleep since I was up since 4:30am. Now I am a little awake waiting for my SIL to come. She is bringing my nephew to play with the kids, go to some parties over the weekend and then trick-or-treating on Sunday. It's always nice to have family around.

Tomorrow is date day with hubby, he promises to spend the whole day with me. Just the two of us, which hardly ever happens. I am surely happy!

Take care sparkers and let's keep doing what we know is right! emoticon

Hi Team! Today was a good day at the gardens. It was chilly, but we kept warm with all the fitness. It was our last day of the program and we ended up having a couple of good groups, too. I'll be sore tomorrow, though. Usually I do the stretching portion along with the crab walk, but today I did the balancing and weight lifting. My shoulders are already feeling the effects! I think I'll need to plan some time to ice it later tonight.

No big plans for the weekend. My friend is having a Halloween party tomorrow night, but I'm not really into the Halloween party mode. Besides, she lives an hour and a half away so I'd be on the road in the dark for 3 of the hours. I think I'll stick at home and try to finish my library book. I'm reading "The Picture of Dorian Gray." I haven't read that one yet and it is on my classics-to-read list.

Cheryl - Hope you had a good time for the work party!

Jen - Welcome to the team! I always get down in the dumps this time of year, but this group is INSPIRING! Good Job on gathering the Halloween goodies!

Suzzy - Hope your ears are working great. I have a hard time hearing myself, and often rely on my eyes to pick up some of the slack!

Dedrie - Way to go, sticking to your healthy plans even when you're so busy! Do you have to work the weekend, too?

Donna - Glad your hubby is home and safe. Maybe he can give you a massage to make your back feel better! Good for you dressing up for the holiday. The gardens has a Hallow Wee One parade at the children's garden and we saw some cute ones today.

Jen - Hope your thumb is better and you were able to get through your hectic schedule today. Enjoy the weekend!

Have a healthy and safe Halloween weekend, everyone! See you Sunday night after church.

I am the only one "dressed up" here at work. I couldn't decide if I even wanted to but it's the only day of the year where we can wear jeans so I usually do. Anyways, I threw together bell-bottom jeans, a black turtleneck, a wild colored short-sleeve shirt over that and a funky belt (to double as a headband). I guess that makes me a hippie. We just had a little girl in here dressed as a vampire. Cute as a button. Trick or treat in my area is Saturday night. We won't be around as we're going back to help at that haunted hayride fundraiser that we helped at last weekend.

I have to work tomorrow morning. The rest of the weekend HAS to be dedicated to getting some church papers done.

Have a happy Halloween!

I woke up today at 4:30am (weird!), the house was nice and quiet. Ahhhh.... Had a nice international coffee moment with myself and Miss Squirrel (a little buddy I feed a slice of bread every morning). I live near a golf course and I am excessively fond of squirrels. Maybe 'cause Im nuts...(?)

Once my boyfriend woke up, I went for a walk. He's on a temporary layoff from the steel plant, so he's always puttering around home, and he's starting to drive me crazy...I think the only reason I let him live is not because I'm afraid of prison, but that it would be just such a hassle having to prove myself every day out in the yard (just kidding).

I found Halloween pencils for trick-or-treaters, so I'm half-prepared for tricksters, lol. True it's not chocolate, but I just can't handle bags of it in the house. They should just be grateful I didn't find mini-packs of floss, toothpaste, or cheapo toothbrushes.

Hi, Team and Welcome, Jennifer!

I am headed to the doctor this morning. I have had something wrong with my thumb for months, but it really flared up while I was away, prompting me to see the dreaded doctor.

Then I have a ton of errands to run and a repairman coming this afternoon. Meanwhile, there will be painters here, painting the trim on our house. It will be a full day.

It's good to see you all here chatting. I hope you all have a wonderful day full of health and activity!

Morning team and a big welcome to you, Jen. Glad to see you here.

I haven't done much in the way of exercise as my back started hurting Wednesday night. I don't know if it's from walking on the ball of my foot or something else. I layed on the heating pad last night until bedtime. It feels some better this morning but it's still there, all depends on how I move.

Hubby finally made it home last night. So good to see him.

I'll try to check in later. Take care.

I'd just like to thank Cheryl for the nice welcome + goodie.

I did fine with my diet & even exercised a bit extra, but for no apparent reason I was a bit down in the dumps today, so having someone going out of their way to be nice was really appreciated.

Hi Team,

Been a some long days at work this week. A lot of decorating and preparation for the Halloween party that we are having tomorrow. It's amazing that the decorations take so long to put up but can be ripped down so fast. LOL

I am going to dress up as a "Fat Cat". I got some size 4X black clothes and some cat ears, tail, etc. I am going to stuff the clothes with pillows. Should be fun. I know the residents will have fun.

Truthfully I am not really into Halloween but it's part of my job. Does anyone else have plans?

Hope everyone has a safe and happy weekend!

Hi Team! I'm glad this week is over at work. We start our audit next week so I had to get a lot of things ready. I'm sure next week will be hectic, as I will have to run payroll and checks, too.

The weather is still crazy, but the wind has died down a lot. Yesterday it was in the 60s with 50mph wind gusts. Today is in the 40s and still breezy. I had to pull out the winter coat to wear to work. I hope it will be nicer tomorrow as I have my last fitness program at the gardens. We've had pretty good luck with the weather this month for the groups coming out, so maybe it will hold one more day.

I'm glad I had the extra exercise this month. Now I'll have to figure out what to do to keep it going in November!

Tiffany - Woo Hoo! So glad to see you and a big congrats, too! Take care and get plenty of rest before your little one makes his debut!

Cheryl - I think that big low pressure system that went through the Midwest screwed up the weather all over the map! Hope sun and warmth come your way!

Suzzy - Hope you were able to get some power walks in this week. I'm sending you sun and warmth, too!

Dedrie - Glad you're getting some rest cuz that means that you needed it! Thanks for the kick in the pants, too. I can't believe October is almost over!

Donna - Ha, ha! I'm a believer in full moon effects too. No Zumba Saturday for me as my instructor left for vacation, but I did go Monday and yesterday. My chiropracter is liking my results from the Zumba toning class and is encouraging me to continue it.

Jen - Sounds like you had a GREAT time in W.VA! I'm so glad since you deserve a break. Hope you are able to get some sleep. The weather has been crazy everywhere this week!

Nickey - Congrats on the check up. Isn't sex and exercise one and the same, though?

Enjoy the rest of your Thursday and see you tomorrow!

Hey nickey,
glad to hear your post partum checkup went well.Unlike you I never waited for the 6 weeks and that's probably why I had 5 babies in 5 years LOL. Between baby one and two there were only 10 months.

I guess I was a wild one back in my younger years LOL.

Enjoy you special time with hubby now. emoticon emoticon

Hello everyone, trying to find some energy to get outside and power walk. It's so gloomy out there so it's a bit of a downer for me.
I'll get through it though and WILL get out there today.

Dedrie you amaze me with your inner strength . Your posts help keep me inspired to be the best that I can for myself.

Hope everyone is having a great day. emoticon

Good morning!

I am up and ready to head out to the office. I thought I would check in with all of you before I go.

I slept better last night, though still had some trouble falling asleep. The weather around here is so strange for this time of year and the last two evenings there have been tornado watches and warnings in parts of the area where I live. I think that is what is making it hard for me to fall asleep.

I had better get moving as it is a busy day ahead. Stay healthy and strong!

Morning ladies. I'm kind of sluggish this morning as I didn't sleep very well. Miss my hubby I guess. He had to stay another day in NY. He should be home this evening. YAY!

Had a busy afternoon yesterday at work. I opened two accounts for brand new customers which requires all kinds of extra reports we have to do on them. I won't get into the details but I still have to finish the paperwork today. I'll be kept busy for a while.

On an up note, I got the bike out and took a two mile ride. It was such a nice evening and there won't be too many of those before winter sets in so I thought I'd take advantage of it.

Jen-glad you're back safe and sound and that you had a great time. Good going on all the healthy eating and hike.

Dedrie-I usually get up around 4:30 too but I just can't seem to exercise at that time of day any more. Good for you for just doing it. I went to bed at 8:30 last night. Just plain tired.

Hope everyone has a good day. I'll try to check in later.

Good morning Sparkers, I have been waking up at 4:30am to get in my morning workouts before heading out the door to work. Last night I was soooo tired, I went to bed right along with the kids at 8. I am now wide awake and I know I am going to be extremely cranky and sleepy again tonight. Work has really been keeping me busy, I don't even have time to think about eating. This could be good and bad!

Have a great day, LET's MAKE THESE LAST FEW DAYS OF OCTOBER COUNT! emoticon

Welcome back Jen. Sounds like you had a great time. Many thanks for the kick.

I just got back from a great walk with Homer. The weather has been sunny and warm all day and made for great power walking. It would be wonderful if this weather continues throughout November and looking at the long range forecast as it is right now it looks rather mild for the first half of November.

Well that's about it for today.
Hope everyone is keeping healthy.

Hi Team!

I got back last night from my 3 days in West VA. It was fabulous. We hiked 14 miles, ate healthy food, read and got plenty of rest. It was just what I needed!

Last night was tough for some reason. There were tornado warnings in our area and the weather felt hot and humid. I was just uncomfortable and unable to sleep. I felt like I had had a few caffeinated drinks right at bedtime (but I did nothing of the sort!) Anyway, it has been a sluggish day today because of that. I did catch a nap late this morning, but it has taken me a long time to "recover" from it.

Suzzy, Here is a belated emoticon

Congratulations, Nickey! emoticon

Cheryl, Of course, you can have a day off!

Donna, My house is pretty much in order now. I even have done the landscaping that I wanted to do prior to winter. Now I am awaiting the painter's we have hired to do all of the trim on the house. Sorry to hear about all of your funerals.

Janet, Dedrie, and all my other friends, please forgive the lack of personal comment. My brain is still dragging, but you all matter to me!!!

Jen

Congratulations to you, too, Tiffany! emoticon

Hi ladies. Everyone's quiet again. Not much chatter.

I gained 1/2 pound at TOPS last night. Kind of bums me out as my scale had me at a decent loss. I was so hoping. Probably water gain from the full moon. Don't laugh, if the moon can move oceans, why not the little bit of water in our bodies? Oh well, on to next week.

Nickey-It is so good to see you back here and that everyone is doing well. We missed you.

Dedrie-Reading puts me to sleep too, must be why I don't do a lot of it.

Suzzy-Hope you got your power walk in. My weather is beautiful here today too. Can't believe it's the last week of October and we have 70 degrees. I'll take it all winter long, then it can get nice about April.LOL

Jen-Do you have your house in order yet?

Janet-Did you recover from your day at the garden yet? How's the Zumba going? Mine starts up again on Monday. Can't wait.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Good morning sparkers,

Work has been great for me, but busy all day. My time surely goes by quickly and I have been hitting the pillow with the kid a at 8pm. I read them a story and that also puts me to sleep, lol. Sometimes my daughter wants to read and that's really soothing, lol.

Have a great day ladies!

Hello everyone,
still fairly quiet here this week.
Tiffany nice to hear from you. Hope your next few weeks goes by quickly and you will have your little bundle of joy to have and to hold.

Nickey, I am ecstatic to see you back honey. Love the pictures of you and baby on your site.

Cheryl, many thanks for brightening my day when it could have easily been cloud cast. LOve the sunshine!
WE too had some wild weather just during dinner when the wind picked up and blew a transport truck into a ditch here.
Very heavy rain for about 5 minutes then it was over with.
Looking for some sun for tomorrows power walk.

Hope everyone is having a healthy week. emoticon

Hi Team,

Hope you are all doing well today.

Welcome back Mama Nickey!! So good to finally get to see pictures of your new little angel.

Thanks for stopping in Tiffany. Stay healthy.

We have been having some pretty wild weather here too, Janet. Lots of thunder, lightening and tons of rain. It went from 70 degree days to 50 degree days overnight. Skipped the 60's altogether.

I have been getting my morning exercise in. Still not back to where I was before I got sick but feeling pretty good about things.

Suzzy, I hope today wasn't too hard of a day for you. I'm glad you have family to be with.

Good luck at your Tops meeting, Donna.

Hi Team! I think Murphy's Law was the order of the day as anything that could go wrong, did. I'm so happy to be on my way home tonight! The weather here is horrible, too. The mini cyclone that hit Chicago came up through our way this morning. We didn't get a lot of rain, but the wind gusts are around 50 mph. I had a headache earlier in the day, but I think that it was because the barametric pressure was so low. I'm feeling better now, but it didn't help to start the day loopy!

I'm going to try and get in a cardio workout inside tonight. Wish me luck!

Donna - I'm glad you're not in a hurry to get the txt list cuz I forgot it today. I'll try to get it to you later this week. Good luck at TOPS tonight!

Suzzy - Seems like so many are affected by cancer. My thoughts are with you and your family as you remember loved ones lost. I hope this year isn't as hard on all of you and you can find joy in celebrating what life they lived.

NICKEY!!! I was just thinking about you last week. I'm so happy to see you! Congrats to you and your hubby and a big welcome to Baby Kendell!

Hope everyone else is having a good start this week. Last chance to see results in October. I've got to start planning my goals for November and the holiday season. See you Thursday!

Hi everyone,

I'm back! We had our little girl on September 14th! See my blog for a more full story! So glad to be back with all of you. I have not really exercised in ages, but am looking forward to starting things up again. I was quite happy when i stepped on the scale and was back down to my pre-pregnancy weight, but i have a feeling that is because of the extra calories burned by breastfeeding. I need to get strength training again!

Anyway, I am looking forward to catching up with all of you and hope you are all well!

Back at this! Doing it for my health and my family!

Morning team. Where is everyone? I have to be leave for work at 7:30 this morning as I have to take a big crock pot of baked beans over to the church for the funeral meal today. I already have them ready to go and in the car. Just have to plug it in when I get to the church. Have to be at work by 7:45 as we have a teleconference this morning. I ran the vacuum this morning too.

DH left for Bath, NY at 4:30 this morning. He will be gone until tomorrow evening. Hate it when he has to be gone but you have to go where they send you sometimes.

We have had a rash of deaths here at work. 3 co-workers in two branches have lost loved ones within the last few days. One a MIL, one a Grandma and the other an Aunt. Now I'd say that's enough of that!

I have TOPS tonight. Scale says I lost so we'll see. Later.

Oh my goodness, very quiet here today.....well Monday is always a drag isn't it.

I had to take my puppy to the vet today as she developed an allergy and has been scratching like crazy. Last night neither of us had any sleep so needless to say I have been dragging my heels all day.

Tomorrow is the 2nd anniversary of my brothers death so I am going out with my mom and my brother's widow.
It is my sister in law's birthday on Saturday as well which makes it difficult for her to feel happiness at this time of year.

Last year just as my brother's anniversary of passing was here, his wife's brother died of cancer that hit him just 2 months prior. He was young like my brother. MY sister in law lost her father in October 2 years before my brother passed away so October is a most difficult month for her to deal with.

I am hoping that we can somehow make tomorrow a day of happy memories and not the sadness we feel with missing my brother.

I am hoping the weather will be dry so I can get out in the morning for a power walk.
Today my nutrition was perfect as far as meeting my nutritional requirements. I felt good after doing my calculations.

I hope everyone is off to a great start to the last week of October.
Just 60 more days 1 hour and 45 minutes until Christmas emoticon

Have a great night everyone

Hi ladies. Have lots to do today as I am off and need to take advantage of it. There won't be many more before surgery on Dec. 1. Lots to do befor then.

I have to go through everything under the bed and see what I have for 4 birthdays in Nov. and for Christmas. I shop for Christmas all year so under the bed is full. I'm going shopping next weekend, Nov. 5 & 6, and need to be prepared. I'm sure I have enough for some but not for all the grandkids.

So far today I've cleaned some, made chili, baked a cake for hubby, went to the church to help set up for a funeral meal that is tomorrow, went to the bank and post office and ordered a set of gifts on QVC. I just love them. And when I can get sets and split them into 4 or more gifts, that's a plus.

Suzzy-Here's a big emoticon for you.

Thanks Janet. No hurry, whenever.

I'd better run. Later

Hi Team! Sorry I didn't check in on Friday, but I was beat after my shift at the gardens. I ended up heading home and took a long nap before getting some things done around the house. Mom and Dad brought the kids down on Saturday. I know they love their grandkids, but after being with them for the entire week I know they needed a break. I spent most of Saturday afternoon playing with the 4 year old. I don't mind being the favorite aunt, especially when I can sent them home after a long day. Mom and Dad are watching them through Monday night when my sister and brother in law come home from their trip.

Mom was feeling kind of low after her medical checkup with her oncologist. There wasn't any change, which was good in his eyes, but she was hoping for improvement like she had last time. Her next check up is in 8 weeks, right before Christmas. (Yes, it is sneaking up on us!)

I didn't get much done today as I had one of my classic migraines, but I'm feeling better this evening so I'm trying to catch up on a few things before heading home. Tomorrow will be another busy day, as I have fitness at the gardens in the morning until our afternoon docent meeting, then it is off for tutoring and hopefully Zumba afterwards. I'm tired thinking about it already! I do want to make it to Zumba though since she'll be on vacation next Saturday and I want to get 2 Zumba workouts in this week.

Jen - Hope you enjoyed your hiking trip! See you Wednesday!

Suzzy - Glad the wedding went well. It's a shame so much food was wasted, though. Good luck with your exercise goals this week! I think it's great you and your hubby are getting away for a romantic trip someplace warm. You deserve it!

Donna - I'll try and get you the list on Tuesday. Hope the fundraiser was fun and profitable!

Dedrie - Hope you had a great weekend in the city!

Renee - Good to see you. Hope you got rested up today. Is there an end to the high school sport seasons soon?

Cheryl - Lazy days are required every now and then, especially on rainy days! Hope you get well rested and have a productive week.

Enjoy your Monday, and the last week of October!

Hello everyone,

the wedding I went to yesterday was lovely and the meal was out of this world.

IT was a 5 course dinner but I was not able to eat but 2 courses.
I had one appetizer (jalapeño popper) then I had a caesar salad, second course was lasagne and the serving sizes were enough for 2 meals. I ate the lasagne. I ate nothing after that except desert which was gelato because I had never had it before. Was delicious and it was raspberry flavored.

They brought out prime roast beef with baby potatoes and carrots dome in butter and gravy. (4 slices of meat per person) After that they brought out grilled chicken breast with broccoli and cauliflower in cheese sauce.
I have never seen so much waste in my life because no one could eat the size portions they were bringing out. What a shame when they are so many starving people in this world.

I did have a couple glasses of wine with dinner then a cup of tea afterwards.

I have just returned from my power walk with Homer and have full intentions of doubling up on them this week and every week until our vacation. I am hoping to lose my last 10 pounds and reach goal by then. It's possible if I lose 1.5 lbs a week and I know I can do this if I just put my mind to it and work harder than I have been doing.

I could use a few butt kicks ladies okay.

I hope everyone has had a great weekend and will have an even better week ahead.

Stopping in to say hi. It was a busy weekend with high school sports, NJROTC and the Navy Ball. Today I was exhausted and have rested most of the day. I'm ready for Monday so I can have some quiet time.

Good afternoon ladies. Where is everyone? Not much chatter going on here. Guess everyone is out doing whatever they do on the weekend. I guess that's what the weekends are for.

I got talked into going on the haunted hayride last night. Hung onto hubby's arm the whole time. At the end of the ride, we had to get off and go into a haunted house. Not for the faint of heart but I didn't scream. Others in the group did but not me.

I have tomorrow off but have to go over to the church and hellp set up for a funeral meal. One of our elderly parishoners passed away on Thursday and the funeral is Tuesday. I am head of the funeral meals and I was able to get donations and help today at church. When the chips are down our congregation really comes through. We're small but mighty.

Not much going on today. Just relaxing before the workweek starts tomorrow. Catch you then.

Good Morning Sparkers,

You ladies are doing extremely well! I am here in NY and wanted to check in on how you are all doing. My babies went to a birthday party and my mother and I went to a West Indian restaurant. I had some Oxtail, cabbage, rice and peas and plantains. It was soooooo good and soo worth the calories, LOL.

I am now off to help my mother make breakfast!

I don't have much time as we have to leave for the hay ride in about an hour and I still have to get all my warm clothes on. I thought I had enought on last night but we got so cold. It's not supposed to be quite so cold tonight but I'm still going to pile on the clothes. Had a good time there last night, I just hope there's more people there tonight.

Later.

I am headed out shortly for W. VA. Nora's sister flew in to help the family with her father while we are away. Nora wanted a little time with her this morning. I went out yesterday and did all the grocery shopping so that when she arrives, we can just blast off!

Talk with you all on Wednesday!

Suzzy,

I'm afraid your island will be less romantic once this gang shows up. We intend to stay by your side day and night! We wouldn't want you to get lonely! emoticon

Well Suzzy, this little vacation is happening a little quicker than I had planned. I guess I will have to cancel Thanksgiving plans with the family. LOL I'm glad that you will be able to go where the sun is shining and it's nice and warm.

Enjoy your weekend wedding!

Donna your hay ride sounds like a lot of fun.

We just booked our trip to Punta Cana and we leave on the 28th of November.
All Spoark friends are welcome to meet us there. We are staying at the BARCELO BAVARO PALACE
It's a wonderful resort and we have been there before. It hosts a fantastic beach and we just love the ocean so you know what I'll be doing most of the time there.
Soaking up the sun and swimming all day.

Have a great weekend everyone. I am taking my laptop hoping to get a connection later on and so I can log in tomorrow to say hello.

Good afternoon ladies. I didn't exercise before work this morning but I still feel pretty chipper. Don't know what's come over me lately but I like feeling this way.

Tonight after work I'm rushing home, changing clothes then heading with DH to a Halloween haunted hayride. We're not going on the hayride but one of our tractor clubs is selling soup, coffee and hot chocolate as a fundraiser. Should be fun, but cold. Only in the upper 40's today and by the time we get there, probably around 7 or so, the temp will drop some more.

Janet-If you can find it, I'd appreciate the "text" lift. If you can't find it, it's no biggie, I'm sure I will eventually figure it out.

Jen-Have a great time and relax. Make some good memories with your friend.

Suzzy-Your trip sounds devine. Enjoy. Maybe you can check out where you can bring your SparkFriends. LOL

Good morning all.

Jen have a fabulous weekend of hiking and bonding with your friend. YOu will have a great relaxing time I'm sure.

I will be gone later today until Sunday afternoon because I have my cousins son's wedding to attend with my mother. I am staying overnight at my moms tonight then overnight at my aunts on Saturday.

I am quite excited about this wedding because there will people there that I have not seen in years. It's always nice to play catch up with old friends and family.

Its been a good week nutrition and fitness wise and last night my island got a little closer.

Hubby and I have been looking over resorts in Punta Cana to go to at the end of November for a week. THis will be our Christmas gift ti each other. I am so looking forward to time alone with just hubby so we can bond and just have that closeness that we can't get when we are vacationing with friends or family.
I see romance in the air trah lah lah lah lah! emoticon

I'll post bacl later today before I leave to see how everyone is doing.

Hope everyone is going to enjoy the weekend and is feeling as happy and positive as I am right now.

Hi everyone,

Today is errand day as I get ready for my weekend away. I am looking forward to lots of hiking. If I remember correctly, we hiked about 16 miles when we were away in the spring. It should be great fun!

I hope you all have a wonderful day and weekend, if I am not back before blast off time!

Hi Team! I'm so glad my day at the office is over. It was a tough week trying to get things out the door. I worked an extra hour today just to make sure the essential things were done, but I still have a list to do for next week. I'll be glad once the fiscal year end stuff is done.

I think I was off all week on days. Yesterday felt like Thursday and today felt like a Tuesday. I'd better get a handle on it as we have a busy day at the gardens tomorrow. The volunteer recognition dinner was great last night. It got over late so I didn't stop back in to visit here. I got my certificate for over 1,500 hours of volunteer time accumulated. They shared some pretty impressive numbers with us, too. The gardens had over 642,000 visitors this year, with volunteers contributing over 75,000 hours. Pretty good for their 15th anniversary!

My mom wass going in for her checkup with her oncologist today, but I haven't heard back how it went yet. I'll let you know tomorrow.

Dedrie - Mmmm, peanut butter is good with anything so I'm sure the apples were yummy! Good job getting all those workouts in around your busy schedule, as well as your kids' school and homework schedules!

Cheryl - Woo Hoo! Kick butt!

Donna - Congrats on your TOPS loss! I'm not a texter myself, but we learned a whole lot of abbrev in one of my docent meetings. I'll try to find my list 4 U.

Jen - Way to go on your productive day! We have "tropics" at the gardens, but no ocean or cabana boys so I'm looking for Suzie's island, too.

Suzzy - Woo Hoo for maintaining a streak! Does that mean you are the streaker on the island?

Tricia - Do you get down this time of year, too? I was feeling down until I started taking my supplements, and even so, I'm still fighting the negative thoughts. Keep on coming here for support when you need it!

See you tomorrow!

I'm feeling kinda down lately - unusual for me. I'm disappointed in myself because I'm having trouble keeping my head in the losing game. I'm still up several pounds from the first of July, and I worry that with the holidays coming soon, it will only get harder. I'm not sure why it's seeming so hard to make good choices, but I don't like it! Sorry to sounds negative, I just felt the need to vent, and I know you ladies will be patient with my ramblings. Thanks! Have a great day, and I'll try to get my act together! :/

Hey girls.

Glad to see everyone so active. I still feel very motivated. I even did a 2 mile dvd this morning. Last night was the last session for Zumba so we have a week off. The next session starts Nov. 1 and runs through Dec. 13. I will miss the last 4 classes because of the surgery on the 1st. Bummer, but will be better in the long run. Hopefully in January they will have another class and I'm healed enough to go. We'll see.

Jen-WTG on getting all that work done. Wow! That's some serious minutes to log.

Take care everyone, I'll try to check in later.

Hi Gang!

I had a great and productive day yesterday. I finished painting the guest room by 11:30. I already had it taped and prepared. and I was only painting below the chair rail, so it went quickly. Then I went outside and did heavy gardening (digging and transplanting, mulching, digging out sod to make beds, etc) for 3 3/4 hours. Things are looking great around here!

Donna, Congrats on your loss!

Cheryl, Way to go on your recovery!

Dedrie, You are really working it, girl!

Suzzy, I'm glad you are getting some nice weather!

I am off to the treadmill.

Evening Team,

I added 5 minutes to riding my exercise bike this morning and it felt much easier already. Maybe it won't take me so long to get back to where I was after all.

Then at work today I decorated for fall and climbed up and down a 12 foot ladder for probably 2 hours total.

Had a great salad for lunch and having tuna casserole for dinner (made with low fat cheese and low fat mushroom soup). It's in the oven now and smells great. I had some leftover Chantrelle mushrooms that I put in it too. Yummo!

Wishing everyone a Terrific Thursday!! emoticon

Suzzy, drive safely!

Donna, you know we are always here to cheer you on!

Jen, I love to paint and it sounds like you are moving pretty quickly!

I have just finished my slim and six workout routine and have dinner in the oven. So, now it's time for me to head back upstairs to clean up some and put away laundry. Such fun, NOT!

Good morning Sparkers,

Cheryl, WTG with jumping right back on your treadmill! You will get back into your regular routine before you know it. YOU CAN DO IT!

Donna, CONGRATULATIONS on 1.25 pounds down this week. You are doing soo well and your weight loss is showing your efforts. I grew up on peanut butter, I could eat it in any form. LOL.

Jen have fun painting girl! Do you have company to help you?

Suzzy, WTG with resisting that chocolate cake and getting it out of the house. You surely deserve to be proud of how far you have come and I am glad that you are a part of this journey with us.

This morning I have finished my walk/jog routine on the treadmill and soon about to get in my strength training. After I am done checking in, I have to get my butt moving to finish and then get things done around the house.

Wow, I just realized that we have 11 more days in October to make a difference! LET's MAKE EACH DAY COUNT! emoticon

Good morning all,
another sunny day here emoticon and it is going to be in the low 60's which is awesome for this time of year.

I've been maintaining all week in exercise and food and weight. Seems that the weight won't come down unless I double the exercise and go to the lower end of my calories and right now I am just not up to being so rigid. Seems during the colder months I eat more to the high end of my calories and the exercise gets cut in half many times although it is plenty to be healthy just not enough to lose any substantial weight.
I'm not too concerned about it right now but as soon as I start packing for my island, I 'm sure I will get the hankering to work extra hard to drop a few.

I am a size 8/10 so I can't complain about the way I look. Those numbers on the scale just don't mean as much to me any more as much as the way my clothes fit and the way I feel energy wise and emotionally.

I feel strong thanks to all of my friends here and I am always inspired to stay on track reading the BLOGS and your posts.

Have a wonderful day my friends as I am off to visit my mom and color her hair.

Dedrie the chocolate cake was sooo good. I am taking the rest to my mom's today because it was so good that it keeps calling me and saying "eat me".

Donna: a big congrats on your weight loss hon. You are doing emoticon

Jen, the island is just south of the equator, turn right and go about 8,000 miles. You'll find it no problem. See you when you and all the others get here. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hi Everyone!

I would write something lengthy this morning, but I am off to find that island. It is getting more and more tempting!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

As long as we are eating healthfully and working out can we relax with lovely drinks with umbrellas in them? I'll let you know when I have found the right one!!!

(Actually, I am off to paint now.)

Morning team, take two. The first one disapeared. Dang thing has a mind of it's own. LOL.

I feel on top of the world today. I lost 1.25 at TOPS last night. I'm very happy about that. Then I got 25 points for today being my 30th day of log in. Then I spun the wheel for another 10 points. I may just have to go buy a lottery ticket.

Today I work until 1 then go get my hair cut, then it's back to work to watch a training DVD. Then I need to go to the grocery store for milk and a few incidentals then home, fix supper for DH then leave again by 5:20 for Zumba. I won't be home to stay until 7:30 or so. I'm tired already.

Janet-I got what your "text" said. It took a couple times of looking at it but I got it.

Dedrie-P butter is not my thing unless it's in a cookie or pie. I don't even like p butter icing. DH does though. He has p butter quite regularly on crackers.

Jen and Suzzy-Hope your days go well. Still waiting for that tropical island. It's quite frosty here this morning.

Gotta run to work in a few. Later.

Evening team,

Well, I did it. I got on my exercise bike at 6:00 this morning. Boy Oh Boy, I sure got out of shape fast. Will have to work hard to get back to where I was, but I'm ready for the fight.I have to get in shape for when Suzzy gets her island. Woo Hoo!!

Suzzy, emoticon I am loving this island more and more! It's great to see that you are feeling better and having a wonderful day. Your chocolate cake really sounds delicious and I hope your MIL enjoyed just as you expected.

Donna, how is was your day today?

Jen, I do hope that your day wasn't too crazy!

Janet, you did mention that your parents were sitting, sorry I forgot LOL. How is that going? Did you make it to Zumba class tonight? It's great that you are planning ahead to get in your workout routine. We haven't decided yet where we want to go, but it is soooo needed and I can't wait.

Tonight homework took about 1 1/2 hour hours to finish between my son and daughter. Who would have known! My daughter does pretty well with reading what she needs to do and completing it. Then I have to look it over. My son on the other hand still needs all of my attention to read the directions and complete the activity. Tonight he had spelling as well as math to get through. Tomorrow we have to complete a paper Jack-o-lantern for school.

Today, I got in my workout this morning and kept myself out of the kitchen and low in my calorie range. Has anyone tried, peanut butter and apples? I did for the first time today as a good healthy snack. It tasted sooo good and totally hit e spot. The key is only having a table spoon of peanut butter because it could add up in calories pretty quickly.
