I joined Spark in January 2008. I found out about it completely by accident. I've had my ups and downs since that time, literally. In 2008, I lost 20 pounds, then gained it right back! I struggled for the next two years and very slowly, made some life style changes and sought help and support in the right places (like right here). A small group of women on Spark formed a sort of Yahoo like chat group. Iit worked for a while. Then, all but three of these women just disappeared from cyberspace. (I have a funny feeling they could be found near the refrigerator. LOL)

In the last few weeks, I've really been looking for solutions. Last night, I finally found time to go through all the Team Listings and I just signed up for a few that I thought would help me. I knew I couldn't do them all but it is rather like shopping for a new outfit. Usually, you have to try on a few clothes before you find just the right one. For those of you who haven't thought, "Who the heck is this woman" and taken a peek at my Spark Page, you might want to guess my age. I just turned 67 last month!

A few things I plan to do from now until the end of the year:
(1) Return to this thread as often as I can to catch up on what you wonderful and struggling ladies are doing in our journey called life;
(2) Having given up on the Spark Nutrition Tracker, today I signed up for Weight Watchers on line. Wow, the WW food tracking system is SO simple and easy.
(3) I'm avoiding exercise until I find out what is wrong with my left ankle. I had major tendon surgery in 2001 so I could avoid life in a wheelchair but I may have some complications from that experience.
(4) First, last and foremost, I will treat myself like a beloved friend. Thank you, cognitive therapy. (I'm also a former and still sober member of AA; just celebrated 37 years off the sauce in July.)
(5) For many years before I moved to the Midwest, I worked as a volunteer with and for women in recovery from drug addiction. Women are too hard on themselves! As I read every post on this thread, I tried to imagine a bunch of guys writing all this stuff. Not very likely and I do know some wonderful guy friends. LOL

Well, that's enough blab from me. I received the most wonderful Spark Mail from someone today. It was like a spiritual hot fudge sundae.

Best wishes to all. emoticon

I'm my own worst enemy. Find it hard to exercise, when no one else around me is doing it. My whole family needs to be exercising and being healthy .Have been trying to get them involved

That's a good plan. I used it today. I went to an art exhibition I knew I should go to, but I don't usually like print art. So I asked a friend I hadn't seen in awhile, and we went dinner afterward. I saw a lot of things that will be on my mind for awhile and may end up in some part in my art.

Asking a friend is often a great strategy. We get to see them, and it gets us both out. If she hadn't agreed, I might not have gone.

Adrienne, you are so right. Not exercising in all mental. I just have to use all of the ways I can find to push through the exercise. I have planed to get up earlier in the morning and go to the gym with a friend.

I agree. Glad to see you're still here, Jen! A breath of fresh air.

You are right Mauitn, the reasons not to exercise (I'll do it tomorrow, I'm too tired/busy, in a minute....) seem like mountains some days. My personal life has become so complex, fighting off feeling sorry for myself or letting lifes' drama take away my energy can be a battle.

I know it's not good to watch the crap on TV, but if it gets me on the trainer and keeps me there, that's all that counts. One other trick I learned the first time I took a lot of weight off, was to not allow myself anything before work out, except bathroom, water and to feed the cat. I don't work out, and I don't get breakfast, street clothes, computer - nothing. I finally moved the trainer to the bedroom and put a glass of water on my bureau so there would be as little temptation as possible. That tough love worked, and I think I need to incorporate a modified version into a life plan, so I don't slide again.

Another thing that has been helping: I was watching a satsang on Youtube, and the yogi said one very interesting thing. We as humans tend to make a lot of negative energy, and it's easy to slide into negative thinking. He said it is very important to change that energy any way we can. I use journaling, writing of 50 things I'm thankful for (this can be hard, but really works), meditation, chanting, read affirmations, etc. Doing even one a day has helped me a lot in terms of increasing my energy so I can exercise more consistently. When I'm down, it can seem impossible to make myself do anything.

Thank you all for being here! It is a real lift to know there are others struggling along with me too.

This is such a helpful and encouraging thread that Jen (WAYTOGO17) started that I am hoping we can revive it. If we can verbalize our fears, our struggles, and pride, and if we come together and to each other for support, we can overcome our stumbling blocks.

My biggest problem is exercising every day. I can find more excuses not to exercise, not to start first thing in the morning, to wait UNTIL - until it is too late and another day is behind me.

Jen! Don't feel bad about life being busy! We know that things happen and we still know that you are there for us even if you aren't in here every day cheering us on. :) That's part of what makes you awesome! Even if you aren't constantly that voice of encouragement in our ear, we know that you are encouraging us from afar. :) THANK YOU!

Haven't gone for walks this week. It has been waaaaay too hot to do anything outside. Boo. Maybe I'll pick up the weights today. I haven't done that yet!

Carol and Sarah!!!

I am so glad to see both of you! It has been a long time. I was away for a much-needed long weekend so I don't know when you posted, but don't think no one cared! It was a real treat to see you both.

Keep reaching out. It matters and it helps. I have been inundated with life for some time now so I sometimes miss responding to needs, but not because I don't care or because you don't matter. Just hang in there and know that no matter how much yo-yoing you go through, know that we are always happy to have you back with us!

Jen

I figured this would be a good thread to post in!
I'm constantly struggling, as any of you who know me are aware of! I come back and leave, come back and leave...ALL the time.
I stuggle with being active at all. I spend a lot of time doing nothing. The reason I struggle so much with being active is partly due to the fact that I spent a large chunk of my life dancing, and that was what kept me in shape. Sure it was hard, but it was FUN.
Now working out is a chore and it's not fun. So I have trouble getting myself to do it. And even when I do manage to get consistent and regular exercise, I struggle with wondering "am I working hard enough? Is this actually DOING anything?" So sometimes even though I am getting exercise, I feel like I'm slacking. I blame that partly on dance too. We worked crazy hard, probably harder than we needed to physically. So now unless I'm almost falling over out of breath, I'm not sure I'm working hard enough.
So I sort of have an unrealisitc expectation of the amount of work I need to do to get in shape and keep healthy. Which, in turn, makes exercise rather intimidating.
So yeah, there is my load of dirty laundry! haha I love you ladies and it's good to be back. (Again!)

Hi Jen, and all, I have been among the missing, but you have never been missing to me. Sometimes I just let life overwhelm me and that is where I've been for a while. I am trying to pull things back together. I have made a monumental life decision: I want to retire in March 2011 when I turn 64.

I know I am not in the minority when I read Jen's email about this thread. I will make no promises, but I plugged in my breakfast this morning just to verify I had not "gone over the top" in calories for the morning. I have been watching my intake the last week and a half and now feel like I need to start keeping track. I know I not terribly out of shape (I still actively swim and compete), but I have been partaking of too many mindless calories! so the weight hasn't been over lately, it is over my comfortable limit--pants too tight.

Since December, I have been working exclusively from home--now my work-aholic tendancies have really kicked in.....

What I really need is someone to kick my butt when I don't do the cross-training, toning, stretching that I should!

If you haven't seen it under the challenges, I started a new exercise challenge for June. It is an individual challenge instead of by team (that way we are really held accountable!) It should be a fun way for us unmotivated exercisers (like me) to get inspired to move. Here's the link:

Think before you eat and ask yourself if you are really hungry. Do you keep a nutrition tracker? Perhaps the foods you eat trigger hunger by dropping your blood sugar too fast.

Hello everyone,
I was going to skip the walk today because it was supposed to rain (and I was looking for an excuse)but something told me to just get out there and do it.
Well I went and got a 2mile power walk in with my dog and did it in 30 minutes. Not as fast as I could do it alone but I like the company and Homer likes to walk.

Soooo, If I can push so can you guys too. I KNOW YOU CAN DO IT! Next time you are looking for an excuse not to exercise, just remember how good it makes you feel when you do exercise and completing the task makes you feel even better.

Now make a BIG Smile and just do it! emoticon

I think it is a great idea too, I just get frustrated trying to use the fitness tracker. I can never find just what I'm looking for so whenever I track my fitness, I use the quick tracker, it just doesn't give the calories burned. Can someone give me some pointers on how to use the fitness tracker? I really would like to join in.

Ooooh, I just thought of a great challenge for all those struggling with your exercise program like me.

How about 3 winners (all individual, no teams)
- Most minutes exercised in June
- Most calories burned by exercise in June
- Most consistent in minutes and calories in June

We can log our exercise as often as you'd like and have weekly check-ins.

I'm going to take charge of this challenge myself, and will start a thread under Challenges as soon as I'm done posting here. Anyone up for it?

Wow, there are a lot of us struggling! There were some great ideas posted and kudos for those taking charge and doing something to get us going again. I'm not sure about a weight challenge for myself, but the accountability challenges sound good to me. Regular exercise is my weakness also, although I've been lax on the rest of it too.

I'm going to check out the posts you started and see what there is to get me going again. It is a new month and I'm pledging to track all my meals, drink my daily water quota, and fill out a new spreadsheet with all my other goals. (It kept me on task before so I'm sure it will again.)

I'm still up for a buddy system and I don't care if someone picks for me or we just sort of pair up.

Glad we're doing something about this slump, though! Have courage and keep to your goals!

Hi team, I too am struggling and need help. I don't know why but i just can't stay consistent, i'm a great starter, but a poor finisher it seems. There really isn't any excuse I am a stay at home mom so I can't blame it on time. My eating is not horrible but I can't seem to get consistent with exercise.
For the last 2 years I can't seem to get the scale to move under 180. I'll have a week with a good loss and then the next week I gain it all plus some back. I'm so tired and frustrated of it all. Maybe a buddy system would be helpful. A random drawing is fine with me. Please help!
Today I commit to taking it one day at a time.

Have a super skinny day!

Don't give up, Pam. I totally know how you feel, but don't give up. Your health is worth the fight. I really know a lot about what you are dealing with. I don't fight exactly the same battles, but I am definitely fighting these days. We need this for ourselves.

Hey everyone! For those who might be interested, I've started a new thread, "Lose 4 by July 4th", under the Challenges section ( I hope that's OK Jen and Cheryl). If anyone wants to join Kopsbaby, Dayhiker and I in the challenge, feel free to jump in! You are very welcome! It isn't a competition - it's just a way to find extra motivation to reach our goal weight. I'm hoping to have EXTRA cause to celebrate on Independence Day! (Click on SEE MORE TOPICS under Challenges to find the thread.)

I have created a new thread called "STRUGGLING HOT LINE". It is a place to post your contact info for people to reach out to when in need. It saves trying to read through this entire thread when wanting to contact someone.

I'm with you Sarah. My problem is also with consistent exercise. I don't want to do a "weigh-in" challenge either. I would like to do something like being accountable to a buddy for daily fitness minutes or maybe even a fitness minutes challenge where we can count our minutes together to compete against other teams. I don't want to do a phone buddy because to be honest I don't really like talking on the phone. Email works for me.

Random buddies works for me too.

Please, Jen, let me know how I can help.

I'd say my biggest trouble area is sticking with exercising. I can eat pretty reasonably and though I do struggle with that too, usually if I'm exercising regularly I'm at least feeling so much better physically and mentally that usually my food is much more likely to fall into place naturally. So definitely regular, exercise is my biggest problem.

I'm personally not up for joining a "lose a certain number of pounds" type of challenge. I need for my journey to be more about the process and the lifestyle and less on how many pounds I've lost in a certain time. But I know everyone is motivated by different things!

My personal email is prplcrab@hotmail.com. And for anyone who wants to communicate via phone/text feel free to email me and I can give my cell phone number.

Oh, boy, have I been struggling! Maybe this might be better posted on our other private team, but I'll jump in and be honest here, it might give light to other team members who are struggling.

For years I've been dealing with and treated for depression. Through an odd set of circumstances, I left one therapist and started seeing a different/new psychiatrist. After numerous sessions we agreed I was not depressed, that it was bipolar (manic/depression). It actually feels good to understand my actions of the past, the extreme highs, the extreme lows, crazy spending and poor business choices...etc.

Initially I was prescribed a medication which worked on settling the roller coaster of emotions through out the day but didn't like the medicated, zoned out feeling and a few other unmentionable side effects. Turns out it was no where near affordable but did manage to loose nearly 10 pounds in 4 weeks. Have now been switched to another, very affordable medication, which has no side effects except one: weight gain. I haven't stepped on a scale in over two weeks but would guess an addition of 8-10 pounds, just from the way clothes are fitting.

Poor nutrition and no fitness (adding to the mix, I fell and have severely bruised my back). I completely feel stuck.

So - yes, having a buddy to check in with would be great. Living in Hawaii, I'm 3 hours behind Calif, 5 hours behind CST and 6 hours behind EST. Might make communicating difficult.

IM through yahoo is good (PinkAloha723@yahoo.com). AOL has an IM as well and that is my main account, but have never figured out how to do IM on AOL. My cell phone is AT&T, which if there's another AT&T member out there, we should be able to chat mobile to mobile at no charge. I believe verizon does the same mobile to mobile thing. Best to check your individual plan, though.

Yes, Tricia, those do all sound like good ideas. I'll take you up on the lose 4 by July 4 challenge, and if we lose more than that, it will just be the icing on the cake, (no pun intended). I really need a good challenge. Now if my body will just cooperate.

Anyone can email me too at dauman@peoplepc.com

What if we have a challenge with a weekly weigh in for those who are struggling - or for anyone who wants to participate. Some ideas might be:
"Lose Four by the Fourth" (July 4th) -
"10 Pounds in 10 Weeks",
"Take Time to Track" (Could commit to tracking nutrition and fitness at least 5 days a week for a certain amount of time, report weekly whether or not completed, with weekly weight. We could see the results of doing the work - hopefully!)

P.S. We could each set (and share) a reward for ourselves if we are successful, and then delight together in earning those rewards (of course the biggest rewards are the satisfaction of being successful, and seeing the numbers on the scale improve)!

Hi everyone! My struggle is with the food I eat, with that being said, I would love to have a buddy or two, to check in with from time to time. I had become sorta of discouraged because there would be weeks without any show of support, so I was all geared to try and do this alone. Anywho, I'm all for the buddy thing. emoticon

Here I am too now. With the struggling I have had over this past half year I need all the help I can get.
I would love to have one or even two buddies where we keep in touch through email and or MSN messenger to keep ourselves accountable for each days goals and to support each other if we see ourselves about to slip.
My email address is open to ANYONE who would like to contact me personally for support at suzzy57@gmail.com

I would be up for being a buddy - though it would have to be online only. I also think that this thread can be a huge help - knowing that there is a place to come to each day and check in, chat about ups and downs, "see" other friends who have the same issues, etc. We have a sugar restriction thread on Nike Challengers and it's usually a variation on the same group of us checking in each day. The accountability and familiarity are so helpful for me :)

Addy,

Great idea! In addition to sharing what you need in the way of support, it would be a great idea to share where your trouble areas are and the preferred methods of communication.

Ironically I have been struggling for awhile but since I started posting here I am back on track and will probably stay so for a stretch as these things seem to be cyclical with me--and I'd guess with a lot of us.

A random match is fine with me but here are some details that might mesh with someone else:
My biggest struggle is to keep up with exercise. I'm not sure if I'd be best matched to someone who also struggles in that area or someone who has it conquered? I am strong in tracking and my nutrition is usually very good.

I don't have an internet plan with my cell phone nor all that many minutes since my dh is retired and chatty but I'm usually home and good to keep tabs on email and don't mind giving my email addy.

It sounds like we need several different options for different desires. That is perfectly fine. We have to choose what we think will work for us.

We will have those who want to be able to talk with someone in addition to an online connection. I am hearing the need for this or willingness to do this from :

Donna (KOPSBABY)
Sarah (PURPLECRAB)
Janet (JCPLANET)

Those who would like a random buddy match so far are:

Melissa (SUNGLASSES13)

I am going to send an email to the team to see who needs/wants what. We will try to overcome our issues and move forward!

I will happily accept all the help I can get!

Sorry for being late getting in the game here, but I also am struggling and would be interested in buddies. I not only fell off the wagon, I fell off the truck!

I have no problem giving my phone number/email, etc to a buddy for support. Like Sarah, I can't always get to a computer to post.

There could be a problem setting up the buddies with some members in different countries (I'm thinking of all those neighbors to our North and then some) or connecting buddies in different time zones. I think it might take some time to set this up logistically.

I do think we need more than one solution to this struggling problem. Going back to the basics would be another good idea. How did we get through it the first time? Maybe we need our own section in the forum for struggling solutions. We could keep a "buddy" chat going so other buddies can connect, like the one here.

Ignorance is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Whatever it is that is holding us back we need to shake up our routines and get in a different groove to reach our goals.

Keep the ideas rolling. Jen, I know you've got a full plate so if you want to hand some of this over to us, I'd be willing to take a big bite of it. Any other takers?

Ok, so I am hearing interest in buddies. Do you want to choose your own? Have me do a random drawing? Skip it and just keep posting here? I will do whatever you each desire. We don't all have to do the same thing. Some people could have buddies and others not. Or we could have buddies and do a friendly competition for June. I am open to your desires!

Thanks Melissa! I might just look into that - though I am not overly concerned about the tumor since it isn't growing right now. Alot of my symptoms have been alleviated by getting active and eating better - which is great motivation! :)

Donna- I think it probably would help with heel spurs, as it is an anti-imflammatory. It is made of the whole fruit of the mangosteen, including the rind, which is where all the antioxidants and anti-inflammatories come from. It doesn't taste that bad either, it is sweet but also a bit tart at the same time, hard to explain.
My mom has been taking it for four years and she hasn't had trouble with stiffness in the morning anymore and she hasn't had any trouble with her diverticulitis since.
The website for the juice is www.xango.com.
Sorry if I sound kind of like an infomercial, but it is really good stuff!

Thanks to Jen, for starting this thread. I just found it today, and although I'm sorry that others are struggling, it is nice to know that I'm not alone. Yesterday - for the first time in several days - I stayed within my recommended calories. I'm hoping to repeat today. Oh how I wish I didn't love to eat! Good luck to each of you who are trying to get back on track! Let's do it!

Melissa-does this juice work for heel spurs too? What is it made from?

I also would be willing to give my home and/or cell phone number to my buddy if that would help. My email does not go to my phone. I haven't gotten that technical yet.

What is the bootcamp and where do I sign up, if I think I can do the exercises of course? Thanks

Thanks for the heads up about Clara's tumor which I had missed being new.

I think just admitting where I was and posting Sparked me to get moving again. I got to thinking about how well I did with the Spark Your Body Bootcamp back in January so I rejoined that team yesterday and already have it done for today as well. Just getting a start is hard sometimes but after that things start to flow together.

There's a new ongoing 28-Day Bootcamp coming up that you can join any time and I think that will be terrific!

I've been struggling as well for a few months now. I want to lose 10 more pounds, just ten more but I can't seem to get up and move, which is kind of ironic since I've started the kinesiology program at my university...
I just need a kick in the pants to get me moving.

On another note, I read Clara's post about the tumor. Clara, have you heard of mangosteen juice? It's this juice that has all these antioxidants and anti-inflammatories in it and there have been testimonials on it about how it's completely gotten rid of people's tumors, and burns, etc.
If you want to check it out the website is www.xango.com

I need to get consistent in exercising again. I am eating pretty good overall. Just need to get moving. I was doing so good when I started but now have no drive to get it done. My get-up-and-go got-up-and-went.

Hey All,

I've been super busy at work and lethargic/lazy at night (I blame it on my lack of exercise) so I didn't post at all yesterday.

I'm all for the buddy system too! I don't know about how others feel, but i'm not always accessible to a computer when I'm about to give into a craving or make an unhealthy choice...but i always have my phone on me. I'd be willing to give my phone number/personal email (which feeds to my phone) to anyone who is my buddy and wouldn't mind having the same support in return if anyone is open to it :)

I'm insanely busy today at work... so I better get back to it.

Joining you all in trying to get myself back on track!

Hugs to everyone :)

I'm all for the buddy system.

As expected, I gained last night at TOPS. I must start making the scale go the other way again. I know I can do this, I've done it how many times. I just hate going up and down like this. And without being able to exercise like I should, I have to find something else that will work. If I go for a walk, which I really like to do, then I pay for it later. I just don't know what else to do. Any ideas?

At this point I know that the following people have talked of struggling:

Cindy (YAYAMEMA)
Cynthia (HARRINGTON5)
Cheryl (GEEMAWEST)
Donna (KOPSBABY)
Sarah (PURPLECRAB)
Dedrie (DTONEY76)
Rebecca (RJFERRARO)
Tricia (TRICIALICI)
Jen (WATOGA17)
Cindy (DAYHIKER)

We could: buddy up / do a buddies challenge / do a daily report individually / do a weekly weigh-in without a challenge involved / just use this thread to vent / etc.

What do you think?

Anyone else out there struggling?

I hate that saying "misery loves company" so I won't say it. We all seem to be in the same situation for many different reasons. I am the heaviest I have been in a year 163.5. My lowest weight on SP was 147 and that was last August. I was within 12 pounds of my goal weight and now I am more than double that distance. There isn't any injury that is keeping me away from my goal, it is just my attitude and being lazy. I'm not taking care of anyone and I have plenty of time to do this job correctly. I think I haven't really gotten over rewarding myself with food and I know I haven't made a lifestyle change. I still just diet and you can't do that forever. So I need to concentrate on how much I am eating and still be able to eat my special dinners once in a while because that is the lifestyle I lead and I need to make it work. I have always liked Buddies and that is a good idea. I also like writing in here when I didn't stay on track. There is a lot to be said about being accountable for what you eat. Struggling, but still out there trying.

This is a great idea.

As most of you know, I have been struggling lately keeping my weight off. I was doing so well since January keeping it below my TOPS goal of 145 but in the last few weeks, it is creeping back, mainly because every time I try to exercise, it hurts, either my sciatica, which is much better, or my heel spur, which is the current major problem. I'm afraid that this week, tonight, will be the night that I go over 145. I dread going but know I must to keep myself accountable. That's why I'll never leave TOPS because if I do, I won't hold myself accountable for anything and gain all the weight back. Sometimes I just want to scream.

Thanks for letting me vent

Donna

Maybe we need to create a buddy system within this group or a daily check-in or something.

What do you think would be helpful to you?

Thanks, Clara, for sharing. We'll never kick you out for anything, and especially not for trying to offer help!

I made it through yesterday, eating healthfully and below my calorie upper limits. It feels great to wake up today without that feeling of guilt that hangs over me when I spend my evening sabotaging myself.

I felt so great after going to the gym, then last night I slipped and fell, re-injuring the ankle that gives me trouble a great deal of the time. Today I am hobbling and fretting over it. I know that surgery is in the cards for it, but I want to get our house sold and be resettled prior to being forced to have surgery.

Again today, I promise to eat properly or report my downfall in detail.

Thanks!

Jen

I am here to encourage. Feel free to kick me out if I'm in the wrong place but I have such a hard time seeing people struggling and hurting and keeping my trap shut. :)

What I hear on here are a group of women who admittedly are struggling. We as women can be so hard on ourselves. We expect to be everything to everyone and sometimes we need to make sure we put ourselves first...or we can't adequately take care of everyone in our lives.

So I started blogging a few months ago after I found myself with a cast on my left leg up to my knee and a bad ankle injury just as I was beginning to train for a 5k. I had lost 35 pounds and thought I might be teetering on the edge of gaining it all back and forgetting everything I'd learned since I had to be inactive for a few months.

When I mention my blog, please know I don't have one with advertisements where I get paid or anything like that - I write in it to hold myself accountable as well as to inspire others out there to do the same. I've really gotten underneath why I reached almost 300 pounds in the first place and now I know I will never be there again. I've also explored goal setting and realization of goals. Feel free to peek into my life at www.changemyblueprint.blogspot.com.

In April 2009 after three years of specialists, I was finally diagnosed with a meningioma, which is a small brain tumor in my cavernous sinus. It is likely benign but not in a place where we can biopsy it, so treatment is annual MRI machine dates to check its size. So far its not growing. :)

The 3 years leading up to the diagnosis I had something wrong that no one could explain. I felt terrible and neurosurgeons and neurologists made me feel like it was me - and I was crazy. So I gained weight - alot of it. And found myself in the worst shape of my life but with plenty of excuses to back it up. I have a tumor, after all. Why try to be healthy? I decided in August of 2009 that I was not going to die because I didn't take good care of myself.

And I have completely changed my blueprint and plan on continuing that change until the old me is only a shadow, a memory, of what I will never be again. A better version of myself is emerging every day.

So there it is - too much information on Clara! I just saw this thread and couldn't help but throw in my 2 cents of encouragement. I have a hard time not saying anything when people are hurting - and trying. And I happen to know someone who has been at rock bottom, ground zero, you name it. that girl was me.

Hugs to you all,
Clara

I have to quit letting "life" be an excuse. There is always something that gets in the way of me taking care of myself. Whether it be stress, illness, injury, grandchildren, etc. There will always be "something". I need to put myself first and that is really hard for me to do. I need to find the strength to do that.

HELP!!!

You are right on many fronts, Sarah. I think that the baby steps are important. I also think that writing down things helps, and I need to begin that again.

I made time to go to the gym today for the first time in over a month. I used to go all the time when I dropped Hana off at Tae Kwon Do. Now that she is recovering from surgery it is much more difficult to find the time to do it. Today I dropped her off at PT and headed right to the gym. I only had 35 minutes on the elliptical and then I raced to the showers, but at least it was something. It felt really good to be back there (though my absence made that elliptical kick my butt!)

I am about to take another baby step right here. If I eat anything that makes me feel guilty (because I know I should be leaving it alone right now as I try to get back on track)today or if I go over my calorie limit I will post here what I ate and what I was doing when I ate it.

I will take this a day at a time. Today I will eat properly or confess what I ate.

Jen - thanks for starting this. You definitely are not alone. I also need some extra support right now and maybe even a kick in the pants ;-)

I, too, am struggling. I was doing so well with exercising but it only lasted about 2 weeks... seems to be a trend for me. Then when I'm not exercising my food seems to slip too. This whole weekend I ate mindlessly and made poor choices. I am also definitely feeling more stressed than normal with house stuff, but I have to stop with the excuses and ask myself how badly do I really want this?!

I'm realizing that the pattern of emotional eating that I worked so hard to conquer a few years ago is really creeping up on me. I have to find other things to turn to... because food definitely a two-faced friend.

I am reading a good book right now (Life is Hard, Food is Easy), that's giving me a lot to think about... but reading won't take my weight off. So maybe along with reading I need to re-evaluate my goals and write them down. I haven't really written down any of my goals yet and I've been at this for 2 months now.

Maybe those of us who are struggling need to take it back to the early baby steps to help get us back on track?!

Thanks for letting me share :)

I will start. You all know that I am under an incredible amount of pressure right now. I have been really struggling with food for several months. My usual exercise choices have been especially tough since Hana's surgery. It has been nearly impossible to get to the gym and I was going there at least twice a week. I know I have gained because I can feel it in my clothes, but I haven't gotten on the scales. I need support.

Many of us, myself included, are really struggling right now. We need to stop struggling alone and work together. Put your fear or your pride or whatever it is that is keeping you pulled back and let it out here. Together we can do what we cannot do alone!
