Hey Everyone,

I've just returned from the movies and actually was able to skip on the popcorn. I've never done that in all my life. I'm extremely proud of myself and I was only able to do it because I know how much sodium is in the stuff. I brought some plums with me to snack on while my husband had is Tortilla chips. I wasn't even tempted because I set my goal before I left the house. Willpower! emoticon

evening everyone!
I am still hanging in there - barely! I"m tryng to keep my eating under control but still haven't gotten any extra exercise in. Not sure why I can't seem to get it done.
Anyways, tomorrow is another day and another month so I guess i'll start over and keep at it.

Good Evening All,

Well it has rained here forever!! I'm talking buckets of rain today. And I had to go out into it today and it wasn't fun. It has finally cleared up and the birds are singing just in time for the sun to go down on another day.

I haven't done to much over the past few days. Yesterday I didn't feel very good but today I woke up fine so maybe a tiny bug had me yesterday.

I'm still on track and doing really good. I have to be good until next thursday for when my baby sister gets here from Missouri. She has plans for us to shop till we drop and of course eating out so man I have to do really good till then. I already know where she wants to go. Her favorite Pizza place. Man!! Watching what I eat doesn't make room for a pizza night oh well the plan is for me to enjoy her while I have her here. I only see her every couple years so I am excited!!

Tomorrow is Friday and I am already to hit the road running in the morning. We are picking up a truck hubby bought it for me. He said that is all I've been talking about for the past 6 months so he finally got me one. I can't wait!! Man I need a truck!!

I do hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful spring and keep up all the good work my friends!!!

How is everyone doing??!! Work has been crazy & by the time I get home the last thing I feel like doing is sitting at another computer, so I didn't get to check in yesterday! But here I am today!!!

I'm feeling pretty good today. I've gotten in a good walk every afternoon this week. As long as the weather holds up and it's not raining, I'll be out there walking!!! Got to stay in shape!!! I have my next appt on Monday. Hopefully this time I'll be able to hear the heartbeat & hopefully my doctor won't kill me with the weight I've gained. Lol... According to my scale it's 10lbs so far! emoticon But that's good weight right?! Lol...

Hey Robin, D is right about the break, but I would suggest that the break be something else active and not sitting around. Why? I know for myself, the more I sit around "resting" the more I sit around "resting" and feeling guilty because I'm not doing something. Ever feel like that???? So you might be in an activity rut and need to mix things up a bit. You know, what do you love to do?? Do you love to dance?? So crank up the radio and dance around the house.... Do you love to garden?? So go to a nursery and walk around among all the plants looking for one special plant/tree/shrub you would love to have at your home and plant it. You get my drift??? Exercise does not have to be repetitive nor does it have to include a visit to the gym. It can be fun!

For May, I have been really bad at doing challenges. I started out trying to take on every challenge in every team and had to shout, "ENOUGH!" So, I have not been walking enough. I want to increase my steps per day by 1000 a day each week for the month of May. I am only getting about 2500 and know that my back won't take a huge jump in walking, so 1000 a day for the first week, and them jump it up. How about we have a challenge thread that we each choose our own challenge and report on it. The Team Challenge can be our daily updates on how we are doing with that challenge.

Good Afternoon Sparkers!

WOW, where did the morning go? It's already almost 1pm here and I haven't drank one glass of water or gotten in a good workout. What am I thinking? The day is just going by too quickly and I just feel LAZY. The good thing is that I have just changed into my workout clothes and I'm about to jump on the treadmill. Normally, I'm done by now, but that's alright as long as I get it done. Then I could continue with the house work.

Robin, there are times when you just need a break from this and it sounds like that's what you need. I know you'll build up the ENERGY again to tackle this challenge. If not today, then tomorrow!

So everyone confession time, I did not get to the pool, sorry Paula. emoticon I am not sure what has happened to me lately but just in a rut. I get tired and just want to go home and do nothing (but eat). I need to shake this for good. Please help!!

Ideas for May, I know for me I have to work on consistancy, so maybe a daily challenge of just posting what we do activity wise and if we are staying on track.

Thank you so much for the comments ladies. I really appreciate it. I have started some weight lifting, but I have to admit, I do not enjoy it as much as the cardio. It took me forever to get use to the cardio. My first posts on here use to be about me hating to get sweaty and I would never sweat in a public place. So, now I like cardio.

I will make active choice to work very hard to continue my weight lifting. I have tried Kettle bells with my husband and that is not to bad. I guess I just need to find a routien that I can adjust to.

Thank you so much for your honest advice. I was starting to stress because I was getting more "jiggles" and felt worse about myself than before. I liked it when I did not jiggle.

I will keep on working. Thank you!

BKNursing--DToney has it right. When you lose weight quickly, your skin can't keep up with the underlying fat loss. This is not a bad thing. Strength training if great for firming up you muscles and tightning your skin. Don't forget that you might see a slight gain in weight at first, but the inches will keep falling off! Muscles weigh more than fat and are fat burners!!!!!!

BK, it might be time to start some strength training along with your cardio to help firm up your body. It's totally normally for your skin be loose while your losing weight. Listen to your husband and enjoy the journey as your body adjusts to the changes. By the way, CONGRATS on 32 pounds gone!

Thank you everyone for your well wishes with my family. I am already feeling better and my children are almost better also. I love antibiotics.

Question,

I have lost 32 pounds total since I started spark people the end of January. I have lost many inches all over.

I have noticed that as I am losing weight my fat on my middle, around my back and under my arms,seems more fluid. In other words I feel like I "Jiggle" more now that I have lost weight. Before I felt more solid. I have to tell you it is making me feel self conscious that I "Jiggle" more. It seems very noticeable. My husband is trying to convince me that it must be normal. It is the way the fat breaks down on the muscle. Is it?

I just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this. I have never lost this much weight before, this fast. Is this a normal occurrence? Is this the natural way fat and weight is worked off the body? I really do not like the "Jiggle" stage.

I want to know if this is what everyone must go through when losing a large amount of weight.

Today, I totally had to force myself to get in a good workout. I really felt like just being LAZY, but I got my but moving and just finished over 120 cardio minutes. It feels GREAT and now I'm off to get in a nice HOT shower.

Hi everyone,
I am feeling pretty good this morning because despite feeling like going back to bed i dragged myself to the gym and did 45min in the elliptical. I don't know why it is always such a struggle to get myself there, because I am always glad when I go! Another busy day ahead of me at work, but am looking forward to tonight. Hubby is making steak and then we are going with some of my co-workers to watch a play put on by the kids at the school i work at. it is a fine arts academy, and the plays are beyond spectacular! Anyway, i wish everyone all the best today, and hope we all make good choices!

Hi everyone!

I had a great time cleaning yesterday. I even rearranged so I should have burned LOTS of calories. I even painted a cabinet that I had passed on to him that didn't really match his room. I still have a few things to finish up today, but may actually get a few other things done, as well.

We are having a light rain at the moment and things have cooled down from the 90s. That was a bit too much warmth for April. I am happy to be back to spring weather. I enjoy summer, but want to have spring, too.

Don't work too hard today!

This weather is spoiling me!! Just enough to give us a little taste and then the temp is dropping back down!! But at least I've gotten in some walking, which is a great thing!!!

Good morning everyone! well. I am back from my weekend away, we went to a wedding 6 hours away and then the next day drove another 3 hours to visit some friends from where we used to live. What a long weekend, and yes, I gained weight. There was lots of eating and drinking and had no self control. However, this is a new week and a fresh start.
Anyways, I guess I should run and get my day started, i'm off to work today. I sure hope that my boss gets back to work soon (off of disability- she hurt her back in October and I have been covering all her shifts) I'm supposed to be just casual and am so ready to go back to casual status and spend some extra time with my kids.

Hi Everyone!

I had a good day yesterday. Kept busy and stayed in range. It was warm yesterday and damp with all the rain we've been having. Woke this morning to my heat on I look at temp outside and it only 43 ok so I guess its going to be a cold day here today.

Jen, I to am cleaning a child bedroom today. I can't stand her mess any longer. I don't get how she can live in it. I know the problem she is spoiled and the only way it will be right is if I help her and make her do it right. So this should be fun today.

BK, I do hope you and your kids are feeling better soon. Nothing worse then sick kids and when mommy gets it too Oh man!! Feel better soon!!

Hi team!

Today I am at home. I plan to clean Alex's room from top to bottom and get it organized. He comes home from college for the summer at the end of next week and I want to have it ready for him. I know that he is a young adult and can clean his own room, but it is a little homecoming gift that I can give to him. After that, the cleaning is his to do. Of course, that will happen in the midst of laundry and work calls and a host of other things, as always!

Hello everyone! I hope that everyone is having a better week than me. I have had 2 children sick, (not my baby who needs a kidney) My 2 oldest. They have been sick for a week.

Both were diagnosed with strep Monday. I have had a fever and have been filling crummy. With all of my stress and poor eating ( not frequent enough, skipped meals), and not exercising as much due to illness, I was sure that I was going to gain weight. However I did not! I guess that I am getting my body trained. It did not let me down. I still lost one pound this week. emoticon
I was very excited. I was expecting a 4 pound weight gain. Like I had in the past when I have had sick children.

emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon The weather was so nice today that when my fever broke I went outside and finished planting my garden! I am so looking forward to the fresh veggies! It felt good to get out and work in the sun!

I hope that everyone else is healthy and strong and doing well. keep in good spirits! We are doing the right thing for our bodies, and our bodies are learning how to handle life better! If I can do it! so can you!!!

Good Morning Sparkers!

Jen, I hope you are able to relax some some today.

I'm about to grab some breakfast and head out the door to work. Today is that last day of the 90's and then we are heading into the 50's tomorrow. As long as the rain stays away, I'm cool with that.

Pam, WTG on maintaining your weight even when you felt that you did poorly!

Cheryl, I think Dedrie's idea of taking a list with you of what you can eat and the calorie count of each thing is an excellent idea. You might want to research on line some of the menus of chain restaurants that you are likely to stop at and decide ahead of time what you would order if you ate in that particular place. I would make sure to eat snacks at a regular time and not let myself get too hungry prior to stopping somewhere. Have a wonderful time!

Hey everyone!

Monday's feel really long for me because there is always a lot to do with the kids. Then I got in over 130 minute on the treadmill, which feels GREAT. Results is all that I'm looking for.

Pam, with all of the workouts you have been doing has made your metabolism faster. You are allowed to have a few cheat days and I'm glad that the scale didn't move in the wrong direction for you. Keep up the great work and now just get right back on board.

Tameka, It's great to hear that you had an enjoyable weekend. I spent half of mine at work and the other half with the family. Very busy, but still enjoying the beautiful 90's here. My husband took care of my car today because the shops here closed early on Sunday. It didn't cost us anything, which as you all know is a big deal for a car.

Cheryl, by chance will you be able to keep a log with you to have a daily total of everything you put into your mouth? I know when I see things in writing it makes me push even harder. Most of all, HAVE FUN!

Hi Everyone,

I need some help. I am leaving on a 12 day vacation in a few days and I am very worried about gaining weight. We will be doing a lot of traveling by car and eating on the run. I have purchased things to take with us that are healthy and low cal but I know it is easy to get off track when on vacation.

Does anyone have any good advice that will help me get through the next couple of weeks without putting on 10 lbs!

I did not check in on my computer at ALL this weekend! The weather was so nice here that I spent every possible minute outside!! Lol... Can you tell that I LOVE the warm weather. I always say I live in the wrong state! Lol...

Good Monday Everyone

What a weekend!! thunder storms, rain,rain wind and more rain. The t-storm saturday knock out our cable and internet!!!! No computer or TV till this morning. I thought hubby was going to kill someone. Men and Tv. Me I listen to the radio and read. But I did miss my computer.

I held my breath this morning when I got on the scale. Oh I did so bad this weekend. Yesterday was the worse and I just knew I gained a ton of weight. But I didn't. My god I am so shocked and oh man so thankful I didn't. I guess i kept myself busy enough not to put any on. But boy I feel so lucky cause I ate a whole box of girl scout cookies!! Oh man!! So needless to say Pamela is going to be a really good girl this week. Wow what a weekend!!...lol

It is cloudy here this morning and the wind is really blowing again. Looks like we could get more rain but I sure hope not. But it is warm so if it rain ok I can handle it just as long as its warm and my heat doesnt pop on.

Good Morning Sparkers!

I hope you all are ready to take on a new week. I know I am! emoticon

I'm off to work on this beautiful Monday to get in another cleaning workout. I'm addicted to exercising now and I couldn't say that this time last year. So, I look for anything that's going to burn calories. I'll get my walk/run in later on once I return from work, between driving my daughter to dance class.

I hope everyone is getting this beautiful summer like weathers. One minute we are in the 50's, next we are in the 90's for the past 3 days.

Sure wish I culd do garden work. WE had over 5 inches of rain this weekend. 2 inches on Sat and 3 on Sunday. More rain on the way for the day.

Is anyone else addicted to the food network? I've found when there is nothing really interesting on TV, I find myself flipping to the food network. So many GREAT and tasty ideas that makes my mouth water. LOL.

Sorry to hear about the rain, Diane. We finally got out from under the rain (though I'm not complaining. I don't want another drought!)

Yesterday we had weather in the 80s and lots of sunshine. I spent 4 hours in the yard. I hauled and spread mulch, gathered sticks and leaves out of beds, moved very large stones, hand-tilled my little vegetable garden and other miscellaneous projects. I feel it in my lower back this morning, though the muscles feel "worked", not "pulled". I plan to get back out there this afternoon.

Sun. School this morning. Then a cookout at dinner time. Alex is coming home from college, just for the night. He has a job interview in this area tomorrow. He will be done with his junior year of college by May 8th. I have to watch my calories today as I am doing steaks on the grill tonight.

My day has been busy, busy, busy since 5:30 this morning when I headed out the door to work. I was right on time until I realized I had a flat tire, which really sucked. I had to grab my husband's car that I know he needed to use during the day. I work at a bed & breakfast and I had to take care of a large group for breakfast and then get the rooms cleaned. Now I'm at home sitting and my feet are saying THANK YOU! I still promise to hop on the treadmill to get in an actual workout even though I know I burned tons of calories today.

Jen, congrats on your anniversary! I think I can speak for the team when I say that you have been a real inspiration for us all!

Well, I am going o try hard to do something active today. i don't know what is wrong with em lately, but i just can't seem to get myself going. What a battle. I know I can do it, and I want to do it, but at the same time give in to the junk food and the desire to be lazy. I need a change.

Anyway, I am going to try to head to the gym today and to eat well. I hope everyone has a fabulous Saturday! Love you all!

Good Morning

Here it is Saturday morning and its beautiful out. It is 65 out there right now and going up. Yesterday was wonderful as well. I spent my whole day outside putting new patio furniture together and by the time I was done it was after 5pm. Hubby came out and look at me and said he was going out to get dinner...lol. I forgot about cooking dinner, I was having so much fun being outside I didnt care that dinner had to be made. He's not much help when it comes to working outside and lifting things but he's great at getting dinner when I dont want to cook. ( he disabled and can't lift or carry or mow anymore) but he's still a keeper.

I know he has plans for us today but like always he doesn't tell me till after we are in the car. He loves to surprise me...lol.

I will tell you that being outside all day I forgot to eat and when we had dinner I was done it. I ate way over my range. I dont know what it is with me but if I dont eat all day by the evening I am on a pig fest...some one shot me! Oh well today is a new day and as always I will be good.

I'm really liking the month of April. Friday is Weigh-In Day for me and I dropped a half pounds somewhere this week and I'm not looking for it. emoticon emoticon

Hi!!!

Well so far this morning the weather man has it right. Yesterday they where saying high in the 70's well let me tell you...i put capris on sandals and headed outside just to turn around and get pants and tennis shoes on. Weather people have no clue what is warm weather!!!.. We never broke 60 yesterday. MAN!!

I have no big plans for my weekend. Just going to hang around I think. Although hubby could come up with something to do. He hates being home so we will see.

I am sticking to the program and am feeling pretty good. So just maybe the scales will move again someday. The key word there was SOMEDAY...lol.

Dedrie, no special plans for me this weekend. Just going to enjoy the beautiful weather they said that we're supposed to have. DS does have two T Ball games one on Saturday & one Sunday. At least I feel better this time around. Last weekend I was so tired & sore, I couldn't really enjoy his games. This weekend will be different.

Hello everyone and good morning.
I hope that everyone is doing well. I personally am tired. My daughter has been having a hard time on dialysis and I hate to see her struggle. I wish I could give her a kidney now. I hate having to wait.

My 5 year old boy, Cameron, Has had a fever all week and is getting sicker. I will take him to see his doctor later today.

I am mentally worn out from all of my struggles with hospitals/doctors/ and illnesses. I need a break. It is a good thing that the weather is nice. I am hoping that some garden work will help me work out my frustrations and relax. Sorry about the rant.

G'morning.

I'm off to work again until noon and then I have to take care of my 3 year old. He normally has lunch and then takes a nap after he comes home from school. Yesterday, he had a different agenda and was filled with way too much energy. emoticon He really makes me want to be 3 again because he makes it look like fun, LOL.

Hi everyone,

I'm slowly crawling out from under the dark cloud that has been hanging over me for the past several weeks. Two very close friends died in the same week and the grief nearly consumed me; fetal position was my favorite for a while. It's slowly getting so that I'm more "normal" and am welcoming the return to my routine.

Today I have a mediation conference at the local university so I plan to use some of my time at lunch to walk the grounds. I'm not sure what is being served for lunch but I will eat as well as possible and I have some fruit for snacks and the water bottle will be close at hand.

Back to tracking every bite and my exercise. When I fall off the wagon, I fall off good!

It's been a long time.
Our trip to Williamsburg Va. was great for the kids. Lots of activities and swimming. We're back now and I'm struggling with getting back on track. Saw my trainer today and had a good workout. Still suffering with planter fasciitis and a bone spur in my right foot,heal. Seeing a physical therapist twice a week. Kind of a workout going there as well.
Really need to pull the food routine back together. Can't even imagine getting on the scale at this time. Maybe later.
Good to be back.

Diane, Jersey had beautiful weather as well. Great day for walking, but too bad I had to work. Now, the kids are home and too young to walk with to get a good workout.

Hi team, sorry for being absent again. For some reason I am really struggling to stay on track again. I haven't exercised since Thursday of last week and just can't seem to get motivated to do it. I know I have all the reasons in the world to do it and they should be motivating enough but for some reason Ijust can't seem to make myself do it, and I know that once I got started it would be great, but still no. My eating hasn't been terrible, but not great either. grrrr.
Anyways, sorry about the rant.

Hi All,

Busy... busy day at work today!! Finally got a minute to check in while I'm eating my lunch. Still no sunshine here for us, but they're saying we're supposed to have a really nice weekend. So I'm really looking forward to that!!!

Dedrie, take care of that hand! You'll get back into the strength training soon enough!!!

Jenn, enjoy your day at home & have fun at the gym!!

I'm happy to report that I have my first on set of cravings. Lol... Dunkin Donuts will be my new best friend for a while. Cinnamon raisin bagel w/ cream cheese & a sweet iced tea. Of course I know sooner or later I'm going to have to lay off the ice tea, but it's the only thing that seems to hit the spot right now. Lol... Good thing the weather is supposed to be really nice tomorrow. I'm going to have to walk off all these carbs.

Hi everyone,

It is 80's day at work, so i am dressed ridiculously, but ready to enjoy the day. Yesterday was not such a great day with the eating, but today i am going to really think about everything i put into my mouth!

Jen- have a great day at home and a good work out at the gym.

Trish- Enjoy work and keep making all the great decisions you have been making!

Dedrie- Make sure you give that hand lots of time to heal and watch out for infection. Did you need stitches? I hope it stops throbbing soon.

Anyway, I am off to work soon, and hope that you all have a fabulous day!
