A crazy fad if ever I heard one.
Just eat regular, portion controlled food and you'll have none of those things to worry about.

As for taking statins as a preventive measure DON'T unless you have been prescribed them by a doctor for a condition they are intended for. They have some serious side effects that you have to weigh up the pros/cons to...not something to take because of a FAD diet plan.

I totally wouldn't have the dedication to do this. I much prefer controlling my diet by having regular meals. I wouldn't be able to fast until the evening.

If you have a sweet tooth it may be impossible to resist the temptation of sugars and carbohydrates once you start eating on any one day. Only on DETE I can I cope. Food in the evening lets me sleep. Roughage keeps constipation at bay.
Being a bit ketotic during the day has advantages and disadvantages:-
A cortisol high - good for morale.
Cortisol high - osteoarthritic joints less painful
A little fat disappears as ketones in breath and urine
Breath smells like rotting fruit.
Cortisol high - less resistant to infections
Cortisol - muscle breakdown - need to do strenghtening exercises
Ketones - acidotic - bone breakdown - so need extra calcium and vitamin D.
Ketones - raise cholesterol - might take simvastatin to prevent this - but that also prevents cortisol high - and simvastatin increases risk of cataract..
I welcome your experience. Supporter4 - MRCP MSc biochemistry
