How is your sodium intake, too much you may retain more water especially if you are not drinking water as much.

Hey I know that feels good! That interval trng program sounds good. I usually do that at least once a week to keep my body guessing.

Elliptical machine will do it if you make sure to switch up the intervals. Try spinning as well

MaryIsis, that routine sounds good, and you might also want to try increasing your intensity while you are at the lower resistance levels.

Since you've increased your exercise, I would run your numbers through the fitness section to make sure that you're eating enough calories.

I would also track my calories for a few days a week (you don't have to do everyday) just to make sure that you're on track.

You might also want to switch up what you're eating. For example, if you're eating oatmeal every morning for breakfast, change that up; egg beaters, turkey bacon, slice of whole wheat toast.

Lastly, I would try different forms of exercise. If your jogging now, try jumping rope or spinning.

Just keep working your plan, the weight WILL come off!

Tell me ladies, what do you think of this . . .
Instead of just sticking with my regular 3 mile walk in the park and interval jogging for a mile . . .I'll mix in interval training on the elliptical. It will go something like this:

5 minutes at Resistence 2 for a warmup
1 minute at Resistence 5
1 minute at Resistence 10
2 minutes at Resistence 5
2 minutes at Resistence 10
4 minutes at Resistence 5
4 minutes at Resistence 10
6 minutes at Resistence 6
6 minutes at Resistence 10
10 minutes at Resistence 7
5 minutes at resistence 2 for a cool-down
Total of 46 minutes

What do you all think of that?

I am in the same rut too. I have not lost a pound, I will lose a pound and weight the next day and I have gained the pound back. This week I have been in such a rut I only excerise one day. This morning I tried to but could not make it through the routine. I know one of my problem is my eating habits, so today for lunch I am only having peanut butter and wheat crackers.

I agree with JOY. Your body is in maintenance mode. You have to shock your body into losing weight again. This can be done by changing your exercise routine and your diet. You may think you're doing good by eating low calories, but suprisingly eating more can help you lose weight. Your body may be in starvation mode and therefore holding on to everything it has. Try adding more fruits/veggies/low-fat proteins to increase your calories, but reduce your fat and carbs. You're sure to start seeing those numbers go down. Also be aware of your salt intake. These are things I need to get in check too b/c I'm experiencing the same problems.

Try doing interval training, they have any article on that. I think changing your exercise is important to just as mentioned before.

Hey girl, it sounds like you're in just a bit of a rut right now. The first thing, don't get frustrated! I know it sucks, I just got out of one myself. I was stuck at 186 for about 6 wks and it was killing me but I've finally dropped 4 lbs.

For me, I just kinda switched up things. My food and my exercises. I just wanted to kinda shock my body into thinking about losing weight again and it worked. Try a new exercise and adding some calories to your diet. I'm at the point right now where I don't micro-track my food like I used to so I know I'm always in the rough range of 1400 but a couple of days I've gone above or below to not get used to a certain amount everyday.

You'll get there, don't worry. Just one day at a time! ~Joy

Hello - You definitely need to try a different exercise routine - also, if you're use to eating the same things, change it up a little bit. Also, watch your sodium intake and maybe start eating more foods with fiber. I added fiber to my tracking page.

I talk a lot about maintenance when it comes to your healthy goal weight. This simply means keeping your current weight fairly constant rather than losing or gaining weight each week.

If you think that this means the number on the scale should remain static, you're wrong. For most people, maintenance means weighing within three or five pounds of their goal.

The reason for this is because everyone's body weight will fluctuate from day to day, even during the course of one day. Daily fluctuations in weight of about a pound can be normal when you are trying to maintain your weight -- and they may be due to:

Normal body fluctuations related to eating and elimination
The amount of salt or high-sodium foods you consume
Temporary water-weight gain, for women, near the time of menstruation
A decrease in physical activity
So stop stressing over every single pound fluctuation your body is just being totally normal.

That could be it . . . I've been doing the same things for a while now . . . Maybe instead of walking/jogging every other day I can add tae-bo into that mix to have more of a variety . . .

Maybe you need to switch the types of exercises you are doing. I was stuck in that fluctuating stage for about 3 weeks and then I lost about 3 lbs by changing my routine.

I feel like I already know what the response to this will be but I need my thoughts validated. I've been fluctuating between 171 and 172 for about 2 weeks now. I've upped my cardio and my weights in strength training but nothing much is happening (not even losing inches) It's becoming frustrating. Yesterday I was 171 today I'm 172. I'm thinking that it may be just water weight, however it still sucks! Another thing is that I stopped tracking my calories . . .BUT I am still tracking them mentally and it's nothing for me to look up things on here and add up everything to see if I'm on track ( (I try to stay in the low end of my calorie range, 1300s) . . . so it's not a fact of letting the things I eat slip by. I'm not letting myself go . . . but I seem to have gotten in a rut. What should I do? Could this only be temporary?
