Hello all,

I am going to be purchasing a new tablet that I can do my journaling on instead of using a notebook. It is a netbook. I have been doing my prayer journal faithfully.

Gaylinn- Glad to see you are doing better and pray your DH is feeling better.

Kim Welcome back and we are happy to see you so active.

We had two German Shepard puppies when the kids were in high school. They chewed everything. We had to put things out of their reach just like one has to do for toddlers. Even when they were older they dragged DS's wet suit into the back yard and destroyed it. Another time they got a cell phone. It still worked. LOL

Have a wonderful Wed., everyone

Thanks Gaylinn, I'm glad to be back!

I hope your DH is doing better now!

I'm just sitting here today perusing the nets and watching my dogs chase each other around the living room. Pretty good day :)

Welcome back. So happy Rumple has come into your life to help you with moving on.

Hope Inner Journey will continue to live up to your expectations so you can continue to love it.

I am glad to hear that you started the private journal to work through the things in our mind and that it did help you to feel better.

We have just been through my DH having a very painful bout of shingles and he does not do pain well. We both survived. LOL

Hi to everyone on the team. Happy journaling.

Hugs, Gaylinn

Hey gang, gosh I just now realized how long I've been away. I've been going through a lot of emotional things over the last year or so - mostly involving my dwindling irl social life and struggling with maintaining a healthy friendship with my bestie of 22 years. Unfortunately, last month we "broke up" and it's been pretty hard for me. I ended up creating a private online journal to work through the things in my mind and it definitely makes me feel a lot better.

But there is good news. See that handsome devil to the left? His name is Rumple and he's my new baby. We adopted him from a local rescue last week. He's currently 9 weeks old and exhausting me with potty training (seriously, it's like having an infant and toddler rolled into one), but he has brought me a joy I haven't felt in such a long time.

Anyway, as part of rehabbing my social life (both irl and online), I'm making a effort to be more present in the groups I've joined and this one will be at the top of the list as it's always been one of my favorites. I hope everyone is doing well. emoticon

Hi all,

Nearly a pain free day today which was a blessing but I need to talk to my doctor about pain medication. I still have not done blood work or xrays so I will get yelled at. I am consistently doing my prayer journal. Still working on my celebrate recovery journal as well as school work.

Work has been going well now that my hours are less. I still have to work 12 hours days when my client is off school but I am managing.

Got to listen to my Bible today and it always gives me peace.

You can access my blog sis, from the Team page. I think it is listed with other blogs.

Have a great week everyone and keep writing and pondering.

Hi, everyone. I do hope you are getting much understanding of yourselves from responding to this month's journaling topics and Questions to Ponder.

Sandy, I am so sorry that you have been in so much pain. Hope you are feeling better. Is there a link to your blog? If it has an https before the address, delete the s while it is in the link bar before adding it to your post. Otherwise SP won't accept it.

My day is going well. I have started a 10+ minute fitness spark streak and am on day 3. I am reading less and getting caught up on things I have been putting off. emoticon

There was a 6.0 earthquake about 500 miles north of us in the Napa Valley, wine country. It was 6 miles south of the town of Napa and 7 miles deep. No one was killed thank goodness.

Hello all,

It has been a frustrating early morning waking up in pain but as the day goes on, I am being blessed and enjoying a cigar and watching WW2 video on you tube. Football tonight and church tomorrow. I consistently am doing my prayer journal and it gives me strength.

Thank you ladies for all the encouragement. I start my spiritual inventory this week for school. I will let you know of any revelations. The hardest thing for me to do now is to forgive myself. I am always too hard on me but this is a new season coming and I plan to make the most of it.

Hi, everyone.

Sandy, I did that a few years ago with my Christian mentor using a book she suggested. It is hard and some of the people I forgave kept popping and I had to forgive them more than once before it took. I was working on my physical as well as mental health. You can do it. As you come out on the other side, you will feel so much better.

Hugs to you all.

Hi all,

I am doing better with fibro fogs by cutting down on my activities and fitness. I was really overdoing it with fitness and with doing things for other people. I am putting myself first and now with the journaling through Celebrate Recovery, I am less guilty about it. I can still help others but not at the detriment of myself. I will begin to do my spiritual inventory tomorrow and have a little anxiety about it. I have to go into my pasts and lists the people who have hurt me and forgive them all as well as look hard at myself and how I need to responsibility for that hurt including behaviors that I have hung on to from the experience. I know that this experience will help me but it is really hard to be up front and honest with the pains and failures of the past. However, we can not release them until we face them honestly and directly in spirit and heart as well as soul.

Keep writing and thriving

Sandy

Hi, everyone. Have a great week.

Heat and humidity have hit the high desert once again. Storms in the mountains cause the humidity we get, and we are surrounded by mountains. But this time they are in the coastal range 90 miles away.

I have read 5,000+ pages this month in the book club challenge on line. We see how many we can accumulate together plus the two with the most pages and bonus points get to pick the bonus ideas for the next month.

I joined Spark Guy's 10 Minute exercise challenge team to attempt to get myself into the habit of exercising every day. Then I can up it to 15 minutes and keep going from there. I have gotten lazy. Bah!

Hugs, Gaylinn

Hello all,

I have been working and studying hard for the last two weeks. I am finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I am so happy that I am now back to drawing again and doing arts and crafts. It has been a great release for me and to also foster more creativity. I have been doing coloring pages with my client who is a child. I forgot how fun it is to just color with any media. When you see the end product, it makes you feel so proud and amazed that you actually did this.

Sucess- You are making the right decision. I am proud of you.

Gaylinn- Hope your tooth is better. Hang in there Sis.

Hi, everyone.

My upper molar on the left started hurting Sunday early and continued through Monday and Tuesday morning. I called my dentist who worked me in Tues. afternoon, but he couldn't save the tooth this time. I now have a gaping hole and continued pain along with a pain med which helps about 50%. It hurts to talk and the med makes me drowsy. I am having a hard time concentrating on much of anything except sending goodies and playing spider solitaire. Yesterday and today I am mostly eating scrambled eggs and cottage cheese.

Hi, everyone. Hope July is treating you well.

We got my DGS off to Tokyo and he is loving Japan--even the heavy rain brought on by the nearby typhoon. He is studying Japanese language and culture. Spent the weekend in Kyoto.

I posted three new Questions to Ponder tonight. Check them out. There will be a few more before the end of the month.

Sleep well.

The humidity has hit the upper Mojave Desert in CA. That along with the high temps is keeping me inside. My swamp coolers aren't doing a great job.

For any members living in the flood areas, I am thinking of you and sending hopes that you are not affected.

Sandy, so happy that you are feeling better. I had my annual June migraine when the humidity hit. feeling better tonight.

Happy journaling to everyone.

Hi, everyone.

I have always wanted to drive a Jaguar sedan. And now I will be! I am buying my son's MIL's 1985 model which has 85,000 miles on it. Son and DIL are bringing up this Sunday. I drove one of the first Sprites sold in Long Beach many years ago which DH and I traded in for an Austin Healy. We drove it until our third child was born and there was just not enough room for young children and all their equipment. Our next car was a station wagon. I am so excited to finally have my Jaguar.

My daughter's back is much improved and my sister does not have colon cancer. DGS is just about ready to leave for Japan on July 5. Right now all is right in our world.

Keep your journals going.

Boy, am I living up to my name or what, I am a quiet writer, lol. But there's a lot going on in my small world. I find myself mastering my time and events then there are days when things fall out from under me, and I find myself back in my woman made corner/cave.

But what's funny. is no matter how much I retreat the world keeps on going, it still continues with or without me as a part of it. I am going to be embarking on a series ( i hope- its up to my publishers) on strong woman and better marriages. mainly on how to spice up the marriage bed.

These books will be about ways to change things up in the bedroom. One of the research sights suggested a series of exercises to strengthen and tone ( which i desperately need ) so since those books will be written in July - my birthday month - I am starting today to do these exercises and track them to see if the end result is *whispers * better sex. shhhh. This way I can say I actually tried it and it worked or didn't work. plus I will be thinner and fitter. Before you wonder even though I am doing this for the book, i am doing it for me as well I'm tired of the way things are.

Will track my results on my blog if you are all interested in seeing how well I am becoming fit.

I forgot to say the rest of this month I will be working on the subject of how a woman can bust the glass ceiling in the work force,,, - or something close to that, need to wait til I hear from my boss.

Hi all,

I will be working on my Celebrate Recovery journal today while with my client. I have begun to do drawing again and bought new drawing pencils. It is a great release of my emotions.

Stay focused and journal on,

My journaling begins and ends in prayer. As I pray, Ireceive what I'm to write about. My journals sometime are letters written to people. They always seem to have pictures and a part for gratitude.

when I have been away from journaling for a while its because when I journal it can lead to deep thinking and then issues I may not be ready to face, but when I do set the scene like Ev stated its a favorite pen, my notebook and some jazz music, some really good sax that will take me out of the now and dig deep into what needs to be dealt with.

What do you normally do to get into a journaling mode, if you get off it?

Sometimes I'll drift away longer than I'd like. Whenever I do, I'll take a walk even if it around the house. Other times, I'll "set the stage" so to speak. I'll light candles or burn sage, put on some very relaxing music, make sure the guys are all out of the room, and I'll meditate for
awhile. Sometimes I'll write down a note or two to help me remember what I want to journal about.

Hello all

Started my Spiritual Inventory and it started with two very enlightening questions. They are:

1. List the people who have hurt you in your life

2. List the events and actions of your past that have made you feel guilty

It really made me think and I have to admit that I got emotional thinking of the things in past that have caused me to guilty and those who have hurt me.

Will finish these questions tomorrow.

I've kept journals for years, but unfortunately much of the effort has resulted in "to do" lists for each day, instead of investigating some of the issues that led to my emotional eating problems. I'm grateful to have the prompts from this group as well as the grief group I recently joined. Carrying around 50-year old issues part of my extra weight. May be finally learning to let go.

Making goals that help us get to the next level with the final goal being how you want to be remembered. Here at SP I am so thankful they let us post our goals. That was a large part for me in losing my weight and eating more healthy and exercise more than ever.

Keeping a journal. no matter the subject we use, is a huge help. For myself, it helped me to come to this site as much as possible, to blog, and discover who I am and what I want from life. I discovered it's all good. Example I did a lot of emotional eating. As soon as I realized that's what was happening, I face an awful lot of issues ion my past. That helped me to stop the emotional eating at least 90% of the time.

I'm so glad you mentioned the recovery program you had. I have one of workshops/private classes to help one get past things like abuse, bullying, that sort of thing. It is always rewarding seeing how the student is at the start and how they are at the end.

Anyway, this is what helped me to reach my goals, as I started with small ones and added to it with another small one after I met the first. And a lot of prayer, too!

Hello all,

Relaxing on a beautiful Sunday. Church was wonderful and I enjoyed my time with mom at lunch. Getting ready for a new work week and preparing to study for my test this week. I am going to also do my Spiritual Inventory this week as my journaling exercise. I will begin to share my journal prompts from Celebrate Recovery with you. It has been so enlightening to me and i want to share with all of you. It is so important for us to seek ourselves in this journey of life.

hey ev, its been a while, the funny thing about yoga I found out when I did it , the tummy got in the way and i couldn't do some of the stretches. I didnt realize just how big I got until my body started bending and twisting and I saw it.... holy cow!!!!! ( had to add a few more explanation points ,,,, In July I'll be 49, I feel like a youngun here but the body feels 60ish,,,,

The nest set of boods is on body image and how teens see themselves.... might get me to rethink what I am doing and find my mojo again....

Personally, I find that I always sleep better if I have had a good workout. Don't you think it is much better to be tired from activity rather from sedate tv watching? I sure do. And the funny part - I wouldn't believe until I did it for myself!

This is a great topic for you to start your journal!

Morning all, I love the idea of yoga the slowing of our minds and hearts so we can be in line with our body, but last night I did yoga for the first time in a long time , and wow,,, some of these poses either can't be done fully because the weight gets in the way or you just totally look "unattractive" while doing it.

I am going to honestly try getting past how I look and do what I can how I can so I can start getting flexible and able to walk again, I know I slept better last night after doing it and woke up not so stiff this morning. So that's a plus.

And this will most likely be the first entry in my journal after the initial introductory page.

I need to change up my exercise. I walk a lot, and have been having a fun Fitbit competition with oldest son, but my body is so used to that I don't think it contributes much to my weight loss. At yesterday's WI I was same weight as last October, in a way that is a victory, but would sure like to get myself motivated to get another 5% off.

Another gorgeous day here, have a good one,

Well today I began my exercise program, I did 2 sets of 10 leg lifts today. So as the fitness tracker says I burned 7 calories ( think thats how its tracked.) maybe I'll do this two more times today, which will be a total of 30 today. It is a start.

I weighted myself today after I bought the batteries and discovered I gained 6 lbs or the original 220 since I've been out of school 7 months so thats less than a lb a month... compared to what I've been eating and no exercise this isn't bad, but things will get better,

What a night we had, our power went out about 6 15 and did n't come back until 1 Am. After the initial panic and concern that food wouldnt go bad all we could do is talk which we did, We talked about our dreams of what we would love to do and accomplish. His was to get his pilots license, me as learn to ski. Neither of these things will happen however, because of cost but it was nice to just be able o open up and just talk to my best friend like that,

How many married couples who have been together over 9 years can still just talk to their spouse as if they were your best bud about what your hopes dreams and desires still are and not hear comments such as you can't do that, your too ____ ( fill in the blank.). It was great, we hadn't just talked about anything other than daily have toos in for ever. I Loved it.

We don't know yet what happened but he only thing that happened was the ice cream softened that was it so we had ice cream for a late night snack then went to bed.

Hi, wonderful team members. Hope everyone is having a vital, joy filled day.

I have ended up with one beautiful female feline from the pound. Her human was a bachelor whose job required him to start doing a lot of travel which made it impossible for him to care for her. She sort of chose me when I was walking around talking to all the available cats. We have had her a week today and she is finally out exploring the house while my DH is home. She was unsure of him at first. The animal rescue decided it was not safe here for their cats as we have an indoor/outdoor cat. They were afraid their three would get out.

Get out those journals. Keep them going.

Sandy, I would be interested in seeing some of the topics you are doing with CR.

Hugs, Gaylinn

Success, I guess you do it one step at a time. Enjoy.

Hi to everyone. Hope you are having a great morning.

Looks like I may be getting three new cats, and in the beginning DH did not want to get even one. When I told the rescue director that I would be willing to take two cats that had bonded and couldn't be separated, she asked, What about three?" They just recently got these three when their humans become ill and could no longer care for them. The three have been together too long to be parted. I have an appointment at 6 p.m. to meet them and talk more with the director

Keep journaling.

Hugs,
Gaylinn.

Had an awesome day today with family. I am loving my new Samsung Note and now I have found a new journal that allows me to write in my own handwriting on my tablet. I am resting to get ready for de-cluttering tomorrow and then work.

Jazzy- Hope you are feeling better as well as your hubby. Colds this time of year are always hard to get over. I been there recently.

Gaylinn, sorry to hear about the loss of your kitty. 17 years is a good old age.

Getting used to the SP changes. At first I was resistant, but as they become more familiar I see the merit in them.

Have a good weekend all.

Hi, all. Guess you noticed the changes on spark pages. Slowly SP is getting some of the glitches that leaders have been reporting cleared up and adding some things that leaders fee need to be included.

Our 17 year old kitty, Annie Rose, died yesterday afternoon. We were told the day before that she had only about 24 hours, so we brought her home to spend those with us. Of course she had pain med and the vet hydrated her. She was a real fighter, the only one of a feral cat's litter of 7 who survived. DH found her in our garage, we took her to the vet who tube fed for two days, and then we bottle fed her until she was ready to eat solid food. She was small in stature but ruled this household. We spent two days crying and now are sharing all the happy memories and happiness she brought us.

Joanne, I am happy to hear that you are feeling more positive about yourself. Getting past those fears and doubts is a major break through.

Sandy, your new program sounds as if it is truly working for you. That is wonderful

Happy weekend to everyone.

Hugs,
Gaylinn

Hello all,

Did my journal today for Celebrate Recovery. The topic was hope. I really enjoyed the questions. They were very thought provoking and really let me assess where I focus on to get hope. The next section is on sanity and insanity in our lives.

Good morning. Feeling a bit more positive myself, but getting really tired of cold, grey, days. We're about 3 weeks behind as far as Spring is concerned here in northern Michigan. Surrendering control is difficult, particularly when we've had long careers of "being in charge and responsible for many things." In my case, the constant "doing" was my remedy for avoiding areas of my life ruled by fear and denial. One of my journaling goals is to discover "enough."

Hi all,

I am feeling much better and able to do the things that I want to do. My body really needed a lot of rest and I finally listened to it. I have been doing a wonderful journal program called celebrate recovery. It has really given me insight on why I am who I am and things in the past that have led me on the road that I was traveling. That road was leading me to be depressed and I found through journaling in denial. I am walking a new road now where I am letting God have its way in my life. It means letting go of the past as well as not trying to control things but let things come to me. The peace I feel doing this is amazing.

I hope and pray that you all are on journeys of peace, hope and recovery as well.

Hi everyone !!! sorry everyone is feeling so down as lately. I have started a new journal to go along with my counseling sessions. I believe this might help figure out what happened quicker. I have always had a lot of control over myself so when myself decided i had no control that is when we had to figure out how the heck that happened. I think we are now heading in a good direction.

Hope everyone has a great day !!!

Hello all,

I am done with cleaning job and running errands. I am feeling better and thank you all for the support while I was MIA. It is spring and it is a time of renewal and growth. Hoping we all our looking inward and finding areas in which we need to adjust ourselves and grow like the flowers and plants around us.

Plan on focusing on my journaling and revisit my goals and set new ones.

Hello lovelies, I trust everyone is having a lovely day today!

I'm going from Easter to preparing for a new great-granddaughter...my first great-grandchild. She is due in June. I've already made a blanket and a bath cozy with wash cloths, and a burp cloth. Have many more things cut out that need to get sewed up as her baby shower is Saturday. All I can say is thank goodness I'm retired.

I'm also using Easter as the beginning of another attempt at getting slimmer and healthier. I remember that Easter is a power time as one Easter... many years ago, I quit smoking and it was as easy as just not buying the next pack. I trust my Easter eating regime will be as easy. I've been through one day and didn't have a problem... only time will tell.

Blessings,
Collien~~~

You have received a talent, the best way to say thank you for the talent is to use it.

JoAnn, That is a beautiful sentiment about being grateful for the good memories from the past, and thankful for the new opportunities. I know it is sometimes difficult at holiday times when we have lost loved ones. And of course times change, so we have to change also. Anyway I do admire your attitude. Thank you for sharing with us.

I was thinking about holiday celebrations as well. Although our family was not large, Easter brunch at my late mother-in-law's was a long-time tradition. When my in-laws passed, DH and I had to become more flexible, as our two children were grown and away and we often traveled to be with them. Now that I am widowed, yet more changes. Yesterday enjoyed a lovely meal with church friends. I am grateful for the good memories of the past, and thankful for the new opportunities that have presented themselves. Hope everyone has a good week.

Glenna, good to meet a fellow West Virginian! I'm in Mason County, in a little town right where the Ohio and Kanawha rivers meet. I moved back home from Atlanta about 3 years ago, and this was the first real winter we'd had since I came home. But at the end of this one, I was ready for spring.

Darlene, I know just what you mean about holidays. They were always a huge thing with my family but at this point, we're all getting older and many have health issues, and most of the kids and grandkids have their own lives in bigger cities. We were always a big family and on any holiday or birthday someone's house was full to overflowing with the celebration; but not so much these days. Oh well, I guess we just have to hang onto our traditions in our own ways, taking into account the changes. And we have all of those great memories!

I wanted to drop by and wish everyone a Happy Easter emoticon emoticon emoticon

Sassy I hope you got some rest.

here in the south we are running the ac but tomorrow we might run the heater.

I was sitting and thinking of Easter of my pass . They were filled with family and tradition and now it seems that is missing as the family has grown so much smaller. Does anyone else feel that holidays are just not what the use to be ?

Hey Deb,

What part of WV do you live in? I live in Upshur county. We are about 25 miles south of Buckhannon. I always joke and say we are in the snow belt that runs through Pickens and Webster county!! We were certainly blessed this winter.

It is nice to meet a fellow West Virginian on Spark!

Yesterday northern Michigan woke up with white ground. Today it is cold and frosty with no new accumulation. Getting discouraging, hoping my little nubs of daffodil clumps just showing themselves survive. Hope everyone has a good day.

Nice, Sandy! I look forward to hearing about it. This year the weather has been crazy. 90 on Sunday, and this morning it's in the 30's with rain and a forecast of snow showers; supposed to get down into the 20's tonight. Crazy! Oh well, it's April; this must be winter's last-ditch attempt. So I'll dress warmer for my walk along the river this morning, and hope you're all having nicer weather.

Hello all,

Enjoying a wonderful day in PA. Church was as always uplifting. I am chilling in front of the telly for the rest of the day. The windows are open and the fresh air is just wonderful. Mom and I are planning our garden. Plan to go grocery shopping for new veggies and fruits this week.

I will check in on blogs tomorrow.
