I had my surgery a week ago. They inserted the radio isotope first took a picture then i went to surgery center. Becky, I had problems with the nurse finding a good vein. After third try she got some help. I wasn't as afraid until that happened. I was ready to have things done. When I woke up in recovery I was coughing a bit. I think that I had cold before I went in . My throat was so sore.

Lymph node test was negative. They are 95% sure that they got it all. I have my post op app t in few days then onward to oncology.

I see the doctor on April 13th for postop and pathology report. He never thought it was cancer but sent the mass to pathology for peace of mind. He wants to be sure.

I'll keep you posted.

Making lots of stuff recycling jeans for Relay for Life. Purses, change purses, back packs, diaper bags, and other things. Everything is turning out beautifully.

Praise God Becky you are over the surgery and doing well. This week we were visiting family in Pennsylvania and driving back to Columbus, Ohio to see my sister tomorrow (Saturday). She is on staff at the Grace Brethren Church in the Polaris area and we always go to church with her. We love the church and pastors. They have wonderful music, sermons and programs. Karen hosts a Cancer Support Group in her home once a month. If you would be interested, please let me know and I'll give you her email address. Bless you and good to hear from you. emoticon

I thank God for being in control of my life and know I can trust Him. Praise God!

Surgery yesterday. Sent to radiology first to have guide wire placed then to surgerical suite for IV. My vains kept popping. Took 4 tries but the staff was kind and gentle. Taken to the ER, got to move to the table and get strapped in before lights out. Woke up in recovery in a lot of pain. The nurse was quick to get me some relief and make me comfortable. Didn't realize how much I use my right arm and all the muscles attached. Can be quit painful get in and out of bed or just getting dressed.

Pain meds are working and I am tired but otherwise, feeling fine. Looked at this incision this morning and was surprised at how long it was. They glued me closed! That's a new one for me. Thought they still used stitches.

Anyway, the folks at the James Hospital in Columbus, Ohio were wonderful.

Honestly, I'm not afraid. I truly believe that God will handle this for me. No worries here but your prayers are appreciated.

Hubby had surgery last week and his hobbling around today. It will take time to heal but again, all is well.

Waking up is just one thing I'll need to speak with the doctor about. Just making sure I have all my ducks in a row.got my list of questions, have a nurse to follow up with me, sub ready for the duration. . .everything is golden.

Peace be with you,

Becky

Dear emoticon ,

Becky, I am so thankful for your friendship as well. I am so sorry about your having problems waking up, I know how scary that is for the family. I will continue to pray for you, especially on April 4th. It makes such a difference when we know we can rest in God's hands when we are going through rough times. However, I still know how scary it is, we are human. I will be there with you in prayer. Hugs, emoticon

I thank God for being in control of my life and know I can trust Him. Praise God!

Hi Connieangel,

Just wanted to let you know all is well. Have a date for my surgery, April 4th. That is the first day of Spring break so I won't have to miss too much school. Surgery is kinda scary because I have a hard time waking up. Last time, it took nearly 14 hours for me to wake up and another 36 hours for my organs to respond.

Hubby had knee surgery on Feb 24th. Doctor thought he could clean everything out and all would be well but now he knows a partial replacement is the only option for him. He is recovering now but will need a surgery on his left knee in about 6-8 weeks, then the partial replacement after that. I will have my surgery in between his.

This has been a tough year for us. In our 30 years, this has to be the toughest. We were a military family, and believe me, military life is hard. We'll be fine, just not easy for us.

Anyway, wanted to thank you for keeping us in your prayers. Please continue to keep us in your prayers. We truly trust in the Lord and thank him for the many blessing we receive every day. You are one of those blessings and we appreciate your willingness to keep hope alive.

Becky

Hi Becky,

I've been thinking about you, I am glad you are healing. Sounds like you are fully prepared for your time off.

The only thought I had about things to talk to the doctor about was IF you would happen to have to have radiation ask your doctor about Mammo Site 5. You only have to have radiation 5 days instead of the usual 5 or 6 weeks. You can check it out online for more information. I hope this was helpful. Good luck with your doctor's appointment. Please keep me posted. God Bless you and emoticon

I thank God for being in control of my life and know I can trust Him. Praise God!

Hi there,

Just wanted to give you an update. My incisions are healing nicely now. The compression bra helped along with all the gauze and antibiotics. Feeling better everyday. Looked up the type of atypical cells the doctor was telling me about and everything I read recommends removal of the cells. I plan to have the surgery in April. Have a sub already set up at school so no worries there. My CREW is established and the book fair will be over before I leave. I haven't had the opportunity to talk to the doctor about how much tissue will be removed and the effect it will have on my appearance. Can you think of any questions that would be important to ask so I can write them down?

Anyway, thanks for the support. I know it's not cancer but the surgery will give me more information about this mass since I don't have any biological history.

Went to see a second doctor for another opinion last Tuesday. He ordered more mammograms that were read immediately by a radiologist then another biopsy the same day. This time they got a sample of the suspicious area. Turns out that I do not have cancer but I do have atypical cells that will need to be removed. When they do a biopsy, they mark it. Turns out, I am allergic to surgical steel. Neither biopsy site is healing. They may have to do the surgery sooner rather than later plus antibiotics. This body ain't as strong as it use to be.

Lost 1.3 pounds, so only 8 pounds til I reach my goal. Yaahoo!

I pray everyone is doing well. Spark smart.

ok. i have PT wed mornings so it's the one morning I get up early and take a shower, and therefore remember to weigh myself. After gaining back almost 10 lbs over the holidays, I'm slowly but surely losing again, and this morning I was 2 lbs less on the scale.

Thanks so much! I'm convinced that I got through all this as well as I did because of all the people who prayed for me. I find that I have good days where I can get things done, but the next day I'm wiped out. I also have to stop and take breaks. I used to feel guilty because I too thought I was lazy, but I learned to accept it because I realized that I'm really doing the best I can. So give yourself a break and don't feel guilty! And congratulations on 45 years of marriage! This September we'll be hitting 29 years!

sorry for not checking in sooner. i'm going to have my mammo tomorrow (wed 1/19). i have pt scheduled for my lymphedema at 9, and i'm going to have it right after. and i'm in the fortunate position where i don't have to make an appointment; my husband is the director of radiology at the hospital i go to, so they fit me in when i get there. he has been a truly wonderful support through it all, and even now, 4 years later, as i still struggle with fatigue. he does the laundry and all the cooking on the weekends. i am truly blessed!

Didn't get to see the dr. today. So, Jan 19th at 11:00. My nurse called today and talked to me about what to expect when I visit the dr. Makes me feel better knowing a little. She said she'd call again after my appointment and answer any questions. So very kind,I really appreciated her time and patience.

Good night for now. I'll write again next week.

Hi,

I am so glad you have your husband. I also have a wonderful husband (of 44 years) and a Christian friend who is a surgical nurse and was able to steer me in the right direction for a surgeon. She had worked with the best breast surgeon and gynecologist surgeon/oncologist in the area. (I found out I had uterine cancer one day after my first chemo treatment for breast cancer.) God really blessed the socks off me with a friend like that!

Will continue to pray your appt gets moved up. Thank God we know His's timing is perfect. emoticon your emoticon

Thank you. I have an amazing husband of 30 years that will attend the dr. visits with me. I also have a lady friend at church who would go with me, she told me to just call. I called this morning and there were no cancellations. I'm hopeful since we got 5" of snow and more on the way. I guess stress or anxiety got the best f me last night because I was grinding my teeth in my sleep an woke with a chipped tooth. so...off to the dentist.

Thank you for continued prayer.

Dear TBWEll,

Bless you, I know how scared you are! I've been there. Take a deep breath and take it one step at a time. Do you have a loved one, or friend that can go with you to these appointments? I pray you do. You really need someone to help sort your thoughts and plans out. I really wish I could be there for you. Prayerfully you will get a good surgeon. If you can take someone with you it helps, cause they can help remember the questions you want to ask and the answers, ha ha ha.

You will be in my prayer journal. I'll pray your appointment will be moved up, there is nothing worse than the waiting. If you live anywhere near columbus, I have a wonderful Christian sister who has had breast cancer and would be more than glad to help. Keep me updated and I'll keep praying. emoticon

I thank God for being in control of my life and know I can trust Him. Praise God!

Hello,

I put off a mammogram for four years thinking that I was too healthy to get cancer. That inner voice of mine kept reminding me to make an appointment all summer long. I finally made the appointment and had the mammogram just before Christmas. Well, got a call the very next day saying they needed more pictures. Went to that appointment and had about 20 more pictures taken. Got a call the same day from my doctor saying she made me an appointment with a surgeon. It's schedule for Jan. 19th but hoping I can see him tomorrow because we have quite a bit of snow in Ohio. Hoping someone will cancel their appointment or trade my appointment for their appointment.

This is all new to me but was told to contact my insurance company because they have a support system for people who are going through this situation. Called and they were very kind. Also, have had cancer insurance for many years. They have been helpful too.

I feel like people are looking at me differently, like I'm broken or they feel sorry for me. Feels strange because I don't feel that way myself. I believe I'll get through just fine.

I will explore this team more in the next few days. Hoping to learn something without scaring myself silly.
