I know what you mean with perfume BENI...I get really sick to my stomach like I'm going to throw up, I also get headaches but not migraines. Strong deodorant or Dove soap does the same to me. But it doesn't effect my IBS though.

I'm still reading about this stuff and an article I just read mentioned to eat fermented food like Sauerkraut, Buttermilk etc...We're all so unique as they explained, what's good for one might not be good for another. They also talk about bacteria in the bowels...

A person in the medical field that I'm working with on IBS says the same thing...we need to look into our system...she sent me this article that was very hard to understand with all the science facts etc..but interesting. I'll see what she comes up with.

If only we could control it some degree eh?

We'll keep just keep working at it :)

It's funny I don't get any other kind of allergies but my mother and sister said one day - you always get sick in the spring and it last forever. So I kept track and I do! It last approximately 3 months.

By smells, if I sit down to a meal and there is something - it's not a bad smell or anything it just turns me off internally. I may like the food too but I will say to my husband this is going to bother me - for instance let's say ice cream. I can't have any of the custards, if friends said lets go to the ice cream shop just the smell of the heavy creamy custard ice cream would cause a queezy stomach that if I had some surely I'd have an attack.

I'm very sensitive to scents and my system - Maybe because I get migraines so easily. Someone next to me in a card shop with too much perfume - migraine. Exhaust from a diesel bus or truck - migraine, musty home - migraine, etc.

Do you have where you can just taste something and think this will bother me - I do. Most times I can stop from having attacks based on taste and smell. Sometimes I will get a surprise and don't know where it came from.

I know what you mean by the sounds - mine is a cramping churning sound - surely you know you're going to be sick. I really think our systems should be looked into rather than the foods. The foods most likely play a part, I don't think the cause.

Humm..now that's interesting BENI...I never noticed a smell associated with it. But I know through sounds that my bowels are making...loud gushing water sound and then I know that I'm in trouble within minutes of my meals or even during my meals.

I know for sure that stress plays a big part in some of my attacks but that's interesting about allergies...I do get allergies in the spring...I will have to pay attention and see if this happens to me as well.

That's good to know Sue about the salad. I do think it's internal but perhaps there are foods that irritate a particular part. Every spring I get "attacks" very badly for months as if it's an allergy. When stressed, flare ups. And both those don't involve food.
I have no problems with eggs at all. The strange thing, I can often tell with a smell of something if it will bother me. Anyone else have that?

When I had my episode of a bad case of D last week...my lettuce was bought lettuce in a bag as well so that might be the problem. My friend told me that they put sullfite on them to keep them fresh...she gets D when she eats salad in salad bars. It all makes sense to me.

My friend & I have been doing some researches and I'm starting to agree with you BENI..it seems that it may very well be internal such as the Short Bowel Syndrome (SBS) the small intestine being very short.

However I do know that I can't eat eggs in the morning...why? But yet, I can eat eggs mixed in food such as Chicken Fried Rice...is the Sulfure playing a part in this? So many questions with no answers.

Just when I think that I found some answers, I get knocked back down :(

We'll just keep working at it!

Have a great week!

I have stopped buying the bag kind and don't find it happening as often. Maybe it's what they wash it with? I do chop mine fine and it still bothers me. I've never heard of the "dumping syndrome" sounds horrible. I can see why people that have had surgery get it because of just that - surgery! But if people that haven't had surgery get it then it would tell me there is something like a kink, scar or structure of some kind that would cause this. Maybe it's being looked at the wrong way being that it is internal and not food?!!

I can eat lettuce that I have washed and chopped myself, but I've found that if I eat a salad in a restaurant or from a bag the lettuce dumps right through me. I will have diarrhea within half an hour of eating it, and it essentially comes out looking a lot like it went in. My gastro calls it dumping syndrome, and says typically only people who have had bariatric surgery have this issue. I just avoid any lettuce that I haven't chopped and prepared myself, because it is a big trigger for me.

Wow...talk about weird. I just had a lettuce salad for lunch and did nothing but run to the washroom after that...terrible case of D. I don't eat lettuce like I used to so I was surprised of the outcome. Didn't know what to make of this. I'm staying away from lettuce from now on.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Sometimes I will get sick but sometimes I wonder if its what I've had with it - whether dressing, another kind of food, etc. I haven't found rhyme or reason yet! I have switched to romaine and don't notice it as often.

Sometimes I will get D after eating it. It is about a 50/50 chance with me. It is not always the same for me.
