Lettuce will often cause "D" for me also. But for some reason, it hurts me one day and another day that I eat it - it doesn't bother me! I drink a lot of water and I exercise everday. If I do some yoga poses, such as bending over from the waist, "D" doesn't bother me as much. I have had IBS for over 30 years. I have been trying to find the best ways to help me. Some of these have worked.
I feel you. Lettuce kills me. If I eat a salad, I'll throw up lettuce 3 days later. But I think you waited too long to eat. Also my advice would be don't eat lettuce on an empty stomach. Hope that helps in some small way cause I had to give it up. .
So, I need advice. Long ago an ER doctor Dx me with IBS.. how he did that, i have no clue. But every Doc since does nothing to try and confirm or not confirm it. Anyway, I started about 5 days ago on a diet and I have been doing good. My Blood Pressure has been perfect and my blood sugar is lower! BUT....
Lettuce has been a big part of my food. (Info: I have no gallbladder). In the past I kind of noticed, could not prove it, but In my mind lettuce consumption at times cause me the "D." So 1 day ago (10/3), I took my Metformin (type 2 meds) and on an empty stomach (bad move) then on top of that I did not eat for 3 to 3 1/2 hours later and it was a Salad with grilled chicken. Within 1 to 2 hours I had "D" then within 2 more hours I had indigestion and now today my BM is loose and (Sorry) shows lettuce and corn (Sorry). To top that off some ached in the belly. But as day progressed it got better minus nausea after eating and yes it was a sub with lettuce... could i have overloaded on lettuce last 5 days and even if NO, then what can I use to substitute lettuce or is there a type of lettuce that does not affect the body of someone with IBS (doubt it but..).
I want to keep my food health and I want salad but I do not want the "D!" lol
Does Lettuce affect anyone like this or am I really that special?
Also, when belly pain is related to IBS where do you all feel the pain? Mine is LLQ LRQ and sometimes right in the center.
Thank You All.
