over the years i've realized that i can tolerate a bit of dairy, but not a lot. cheese is ok for the most part, as is butter. but milk or ice cream? never ok more than 1 day. if i have milk 2 days in a row, i will have an attack. ice cream can set me off right then :/
Sometimes all you need is to take a Lactaid pill before milk, milk products. I tolerate a little butter. You have to watch ingredient labels. There are many names that are milk derivitive. Whey, casein, etc.

I'm pretty sure I'm lactose intolerant, but I had been eating cheesey dishes and an occasional ice cream and genrally not paying attention to what I ate (always avoid straight milk and yogurt). But lately thinks seem worse. I dont' know if its ibs or lacotse intolerance or both or what. So I'm trying to aviod all lactose now and am taking a probiotic and trying to get things back in order. My symptoms are I'm gassy all the time, both kinds. And, I have to go all the time. I'm tired of it.
So, things are a little better, but not much. I realized the other day that the vanilla wafers I had bought to replace the ice cream had "whey" as an ingredient. Could this little bit of milk product be causing me problems? What about butter? Could that be causing problems as well? I would hate to never get to eat butter again! It's bad enough I can't have ice ceam.
