I have finally found relief with a low dose antidepressant for pain/anxiety. honestly, it is amazing how 'normal' i feel now!! i still have an upset now and then, but it's not so bad that i'm in pain for 2-3 days now! it only took me 20 years to figure it out heh :)

talk to your doctor, it may help.

My doc would not prescribe zelnorm because he said it wasn't trustworthy, he did however, ask me when I was struggling most with my IBS attacks. Becaise I was getting sick most often after going somewhere unfamiliar, or uncomfortable for me, we talked about anxiety, mainly social anxiety for me. He wanted to put me on paxil, low dose, and at that point, I was willing to give anything a try. After one week on Paxil, my attacks stopped and I can safely say, I have not had a major upset in 3 years. I realize alot of my success may be my age, 50 , because menopause erases the homone stress which exists duriing life. However, paxil even helps with menopause, so I was twice blessed! I hope you and your doc can come to some resolution for your struggles, I feel your pain! emoticon

A little history for you. About 7 years ago I was finally diagnosed with IBS after dealing with the symptoms and problems since I was very young. My Gastro doctor prescribed me at the time with Zelnorm. The stuff was amazing!!! I never knew what normal or semi normal was until I went on it. After a year of taking it I had to discontinue use because it seemed to start making my IBS worse on days I took it. So for 5 years after with just a regiment of fiber I was able to keep things "normal". Its not like there is a normal when you have IBS. About two years ago I started having problems again. My GP got me started on Align, which just as Zelnorm it was working great at first. It seemed to keep me "normal" for almost two years. Now recently it seems my IBS is back to where it was before I took the Zelnorm.

I really miss Semi-Normal. Any Suggestions?

P.S. I really wish they would not have Black listed Zelnorm.

Jenna
