I have been dealing with IBS for 10 years. I found that my bloating just takes time to pass. The best thing to do is figure out what is causing your bloating. The most recent thing I just gave us was coffee. Its not the caffeine that's irritating to the gut its the enzymes in the coffee bean that create gasiness and bloating in an IBS sufferer.

Thanks and I also just saw on Dr. Oz that fennel seeds are good for gas and bloating as well. May have to try that!

Hi,
If Gas-x doesn't help you (I take it 20 minutes prior to a meal and another 20 minutes after eating), then try charcoal caps. I use the brand name Charco caps available in any drugstore. This usually works but does turn the stools very dark. I also take Align probiotic but there is also Advantage for gas probiotic, Culturelle etc. Google for gas producing foods should give you a list of foods to avoid and eating small meals 5 or 6 times a day is helpful rather than eating 3 regular meals. Peppermint pills are good along with peppermint tea but wreaks havoc if you also suffer from acid reflux. Sticking to chamomile or ginger teas are good.

I also have a lot of bloating and gas. Gas-X never helps me at all. Stool softeners and laxatives really do not help. My mom's has gotten so bad hardly anything helps here gas and constipation so I fear I am headed that way. I too drink lots of water and exercise regularly. Today it is really bothering me and kept me up half the early morning.

Also I'd recommend staying away from caffiene. It's a bloat causer.

Thank you for your reply. I agree that exercise and drinking lots and lots of water are important. I love your quote at the end and am aiming to focus on change rather than the results.

Exercise is key for me! I also try to make sure I drink 80 - 100 oz of water each day and drink peppermint tea. It doesn't always work, but if I exercise regularly it can cut down the discomfort.

If you focus on results, you will never change. If you focus on change, you will get results.

I tried taking peppermint tea and also enteric coated peppermint pills but since I have acid reflux it made this condition worse. I now take Gas-x 20 minutes before I eat and again 20 minutes after if I think I am going to have or am having trouble. I also try to not eat gas producing foods - lists are provided if you do a google search. I also take Align probiotic. You may want to look at Heather's website. Hope this helps along with the E word which I hate but is helpful - EXERCISE even if it is a walk after meals.

I experience bloating as well. I haven't found anything that works for me. I'll try the peppermint tea. I already drink a lot of water daily.

Bloating is one of my big problems. Some people recommend peppermint tea...I also think drinking a lot of water has helped me.
