Hi There

I agree the pain and bloating is the worst! Although I believe I know my trigger foods there are still days that I just get that darn bloating and pain. I am however in my first week of taking shelled hemp hearts and so far a bm everyday!!! YA!!!

I also drink warm water with lemon and ginger when the pain is severe.

I hope you pain will soon be gone.

I agree Terri, too bad sugar wasn't a trigger, or wine :)

I had one of "those" weeks last week and I feel your pain, the spasmodic nature of the infliction can be even very nauseating to me. I've read somewhere else that chamomile tea is good, and I have started using cracked hemp seeds as an anti inflammatory and it is haven't a beneficial effect so far. I'm going to add some chamomile tea to see if that helps as well. I guess we never know what form help will arrive to you in, but as long as there's some relief whatever amount, I'll take it.

Cheers to all

K

Hi everyone. I'm new here but unfortunately not new to IBS. I think I've had it in one form or another my entire life. For the last 20 years it's been Primarily IBS-D. I think we all have certain triggers, and it takes awhile to figure out what the primary ones are. Inulin is a killer, but benefiber is good. When it's really bad italian bread and mint or fennel tea help stabilize me. You'd think I'd be skinny with this problem...unfortunately, sugar isn't one of my triggers!
I look forward to the support on this board and hope I can help someone too. emoticon

I'm glad someone can have a sense of humor. Right now I'm in so much pain nothing is fun. I can live with the sluggish bowels but the pain is the worst!

Hi Treesa,

It is such a pleasure to pass along info that you've found out on your own, or read that can help others with this situation. Hey how many places can you go on line where you talk about bodily functions.....I guess it puts the fun in functions....now I'm the one with the sick sense of humour so don't mind me :)

Boy it amazing to see the amount of issues out there. I am so in tune with you all.

I feel always like I'm walking this invisible line of being c or d, and every now and then I do get a few good days, then I just miss looking at one thing, and bang, back at the battle.

I do everything I should, including identifying trigger foods by journalling and I put on a note onthe days that I know something was not good. The car wax thing doesn't really surprise me when I think about all the you know what they add to foods. Even getting a piece of fish isn't as simple as it "should" be, farmed or wild, canned with so much sodium it's enough to seize your colon up within hours. Drink water like an elixer, exercise alot, but still it's there. My little friend, IB.....perhaps if I make friends with it things will be better :)

My rant for the day...

Hi There

It is good to know your trigger foods. My acceptable food list is getting smaller...thus the reason why I am having trouble getting in my required amount of calories. I am in my third year of no bread, mayo, ketchup, deli meats, takeout foods, fried foods,. I do not drink pop or juices of any kind either. My food intake consists of chicken, chicken and more chicken...LOL.

Best of luck!

Any carbonated drinks, even a little added to punch will give me horrible gas pains! I have switched to tea, especially green tea. I cannot go a day without my Digestive Advantage and yogurt!!!

I have had bad gas today. It may have been the diet coke. I've basically given them up except maybe one a week. Sometimes it bothers me, other times it doesn't. emoticon

So glad you brought this up. I'm just beginning to figure out the things to avoid. Soda is also on my list of foods to avoid. I was wondering the same thing about sugar and gas. Homemade bread and rolls seem to add to it also. Raw veggies and some fruits are harsh. In fact, even though I need fiber desperately, it causes me terrible pain. Still trying to find the right combination/dosage. I'm not having very good luck with diet so far and am so thankful for this team, you've been such an inspiration to keep trying and have helped me so much. Thank you all!

Hi all,

Just one more thing to add about jelly beans and that ilk, gummy bears fruit chews etc. Believe it or not, they have carnuba wax, most all, even the "healthy" ones. Bad enough if your tummy is okay, but add that into the mix with the IB, you have a set up for bigger problem. There are many sweet things that add carnuba which I personally find appalling, think about the kids out there ingesting car wax. arghhhhh.

I am an avid label reader as there are many chemicals in foods that trigger my IB, like soy and it's derivatives, chicory, inulin, things common in weight loss or high fibre foods. But wax really takes the cake doesn't it emoticon

Carbonated drinks have become a thing of the past for me. Even sparkling cider that we used for Christmas and New Year's Eve is a no no! I can drink them if they are totally flat to taste the flavor but no carbonation please!!! I tend to stay away from sugars because it is not good for my weight loss plan and my teeth! I now drink lactose free milk and yogurt has become a comfort food for me. Especially the raspberry and chocolate one!
Those all make me so gassy and uncomfortable so best to stay away from them.

I have been keeping a detailed food diary and any gastric symptom I have with on that day. I am starting to learn a few patterns and am becoming totally confused by others. Has anyone noticed that when they eat sugary foods (mine being jelly beans, I know not real healthy) they become extremely gassy? I am not in the habit of eating candy so I dont know if this ws a fluke or a common symptom but it was a painful experience. I know carbonated soda's affect me the same way. Id appreciate any input on this if anyone has any.
Thanks Treesa
