Just thought I would jump in on the conversation. I also have IBSC and have oatmeal with 1 tsp flaxmeal some nuts and almond breeze sugar free most mornings....This week I have started to add honey.

I think moving after a meal is a great idea!

I have also been told to drink 2 glasses of water after every meal...It is supposed to help with the digestion!

I did an experiment yesterday. I did not sit down for 60 minutes after eating . I didnt seem to get as bloated and the pain was a lot less. I guess the relaxing conversation following a meal is not in my vocab anymore. Maybe I need to keep moving to keep the digestion flowing? I did still get gassy in the evening but it wasnt as painful. Has anyone else tried this?

I don't necessarily get cramps, but I have been getting nauseated after I eat. I can feel the gag in my throat and my stomach. I'm in one of those C episodes right now, and I have gag. emoticon

Blessings! Dee

TREESA57, I also cramp every day about an hour after lunch. Diet doesn't seem related to it, I think mine is stress. Having a daycare at home will do it to anybody. I feel so much better on vacation but still have issues. Eating too quickly or too much is really bad for me.

I am finding that no matter what I eaat I have major stomache pains about 30 minutes after finishing. I get so bloated and so rock hard that I have a hard time breathing. I am wondering if oatmeal in the mornings would help me with it? I am willing to try anything to avoid another endoscope.

My problems is normally D. I do eat oatmeal most mornings and find that it has helped me a great deal. Exercise, particularly yoga, is great for me.

I'm with you on this, Linda. I need to be more careful about my diet. I've noticed that lately when I have oatmeal and fruit for breakfast, my digestion works better all day, so I'm trying to make that an every day thing. I have Levbid for cramping because mine are so painful I have spent hours on the floor in the bathroom in agony. Now, at the first sign of cramps, I take one pill, and if it continues to get worse, I take another one. Generally, the pills stop the painful spasms, and I eventually have my usual cycle (constipation, misery, limited bowel movement, more bowel movement, and then diarrhea. Then it starts all over again. I've started taking Benefiber. We'll see how it goes. I really do recommend the oatmeal and fruit for breakfast, though.

Good luck! I had constipation all last year with lots of pain. It finally has eased up after I had an antibiotic that caused diarrhea and then a colonoscopy that cleaned me out. Now things are near normal which in itself is not normal but a huge relief. I have to be careful too what I eat and found that benefiber works well for me. I much prefer the diarrhea over the constipation but I dont' have a choice.

I've had IBS-C for two years now and today I experienced my first very painful intestinal spasms during a constipation episode. I even took my first dicylomine tablet today. The pain started after a very painful huge BM. It seems my intestines got VERY sluggish and the BM's very large yesterday and today, but the pain didn't start until AFTER I passed the stool. I could hardly even stand up it hurt so bad. It was a shock to me I could actually feel my lower right abdomen getting tight and rippling with the spasm. All I've ever had is painful bloating a gas pains when I had a bad day. I admit to eating all the wrong foods. Spicy Chinese with that No-No broccoli, and the al-dente veggies. I had leftover the last two days.
I won't do that again for a while. I admit I took that DEXTRIN fiber powder in water yesterday, plus whole wheat muffin and pasta I swear the Dextrin makes my intestines sluggish. It just doesn't work as well as soluble veggies and Metamucil Clear and Natural. On top of all that I gained 8 pounds over the holidays. I plan on starting my IBS diet tomorrow.
