I stayed away from my hot chocolate today and haven't had any problems. Even ate the chili and the only problem with it is it doesn't taste so great anymore (had it too often).

We didn't get much snow, but it's cold and they have lowered the forecast temperature for the next week. That I don't like. I hope it is sunny and no wind on Friday because that is the warmest day other than Saturday to go out to the barn and I have a couple library classes to go to on Saturday. Then Sunday there is another drop in temperature and chance of snow (20% as of now). So today I only went out to take a birthday present next door to the little girl who will be 4 tomorrow.

I had some hot chocolate today that set off my IBS-D. I was doing fine before after having some chili, but it is colder today, so I had hot chocolate after and that did me in. Guess that packaged hot chocolate isn't for me.

We are having temperatures only in the teens the next couple days and it is snowing now through at least noon tomorrow. That is okay for tomorrow since I got the things I needed today, but Thursday I have an appointment at the library to try to figure out some things on the computer. At least, I hope the computer person can help me.

I have a cold, so today was out getting oregano oil, Coricidin and stuff for the vaporizer. I got my eucalyptus out last night and found there is hardly anything in the bottles. Can't get more of that for a while, so have used some vapor rub and will use the vaporizer tonight. I should be able to breathe then.

I am doing well. My IBS is not bothering me. I had too much sugar today. It hasn't effected my bowels yet and I hope it doesn't.

I have been walking outdoors a lot for exercise. I am getting some of the Christmas gifts ready. I mailed a couple already. Glad that I will be ready before the Christmas week. It makes for less stress.

Hope you are all doing well. I am still having a lot of heartburn on and off too. I had a cup of hot chocolate last night as it was a cold and windy night. I think that might have set it off.

Then this morning, I had oatmeal with a little honey in it and it happened again, I think the honey did it.

I've been doing okay, but need to take some gas relief tonight. I don't know what started that since when it started I hadn't eaten anything since breakfast. I did get hungry when I was out running around, so have eaten since.

I started to a program at the library, but ended up stopping at a small craft show and got a lot of creative ideas, including one that might work for the scarf I am trying to learn to knit. It is more of a large, warm collar than a long scarf. I am hoping to figure out how to do that for a man (teen age boy) in football team colors. Also, for my coasters I want to make. And a couple other things.

I am still doing fine. One of our dogs was coughing up a hair ball or something several times last night, so I had to deal with that. Twice it was laying up on the bed next to the bf when it happened. I moved her over to my side afterwards so I could keep a better watch on her as he was snoring away and didn't even wake up or no that she was sick. So washing our bedding this morning. Luckily it was more just dry hacking than anything, and she is doing fine now.

Have a great day and Happy Sunday.

Hope that everyone has a good weekend. My Friday was good. Was a little worried this morning, but nothing bad came of it.

Went looking for some better yarn to try to knit a men's scarf. Not sure if it will work or not. Guess I could do it with no pattern if nothing else, and hope I can get it done. Spent a lot of time snooping at Joann while I was there. Got the football team's colors for one of their fans.

My IBS hasn't caused too many problems for the past couple of days. Although, I have had some issues with gas. Drinking a lot of water because I know it can help me. We had some turkey breast for dinner which was very good. I started the day with yogurt and fruit. I also got in some housecleaning and took a walk today.

Darlene - that is cute that Cassie got an extra meal. I am sure she was happy about that. I do really like chili.

I've been doing okay with the IBS. Maybe shouldn't say that, since it usually ends up with things going wrong again. It is other things that have been problems lately. I was making tortilla soup on Sunday and wanted to put some cumin in it but couldn't find it. So I went to the spice shop for some. Got my curry and came home and put it in the soup, then realized that was the wrong spice. Yesterday I got the right spice, but the soup was ruined. Today I made some chili and while trying to pour off the grease and dumped half the meat out. Fortunately, the other packages hadn't frozen yet, so I got more meat out. Cassie sure had a nice extra meal.

I have been okay for the past few days with IBS-D. Although still fighting migraines. We ate pizza yesterday which really bloated me. If I don't "get regular:" I may take a laxative tomorrow. I guess I am alternating with C which happens often. I have been keeping up with exercise and drinking my water. Sometimes that even can help me. I did some gift shopping yesterday. I have to mail some gifts this week so getting them all boxed up. It certainly is busy this time of the year.

We bounced back up to close to 60 after the snow last week and tomorrow is suppose to be around 50, then drop to the 30s most of the time with some 40s. That I won't be liking.

I had a nice Thanksgiving and extra Thanksgiving on Friday. I took some pies to both and yesterday I made a baked brie and took it. It didn't turn out too well and I got there too late for anyone to want any since it was an appetizer. One lady did take some of it as like a slice of pie. She didn't know what it was. Well, looking at it you couldn't tell. The pastry came off half of it and the maple syrup and brown sugar topping it called for just rolled off the top to burn on the side of it. I might try it again, though, but in a pie pan instead of pastry. Today I roasted my turkey breast so I will have some turkey sandwiches in the future. Also making some soup for those upcoming cold days.

Hi ladies! We went from really hot days to cooler and wet days and then back to really hot days. We have a couple of different storm systems coming in this weekend. So we are getting heavy rain right now that is suppose to last all night. And then another storm coming in tomorrow too, so rain tomorrow morning and day too. We are suppose to be in the 50's - 60's in the day, and 30's - 50's at night for a bit now.

I am still doing fine with the IBS, but have been having a lot of heart burn lately. But then we have been having a lot of stuff for dinner that I know doesn't do well with me. Like pizza, tomato sauced pasta dishes, fried chicken, ham and beans and such.

We were eating on a ham for days before Thanksgiving. My boyfriend's son was going to be with his mom, her family and their friends most of his week off from school. So we were eating a ham and pizza and such before that time.

Thanksgiving it was just me and my boyfriend. He talked about wanting to cook some steaks. He was thinking of prime rib, but didn't find what he wanted at a good price he said, previous to that day. I didn't care what we ate really. And instead of him running to the store or a fast food place, we ended up eating some left over ham and bean soup that he had made a few days before.

Yesterday his son was with us and the guys talked about maybe cooking a turkey or steaks. But then they decided they would rather play games on their computers, then go shopping and spend the time cooking. So we ended up having take out fried chicken instead later that night.

Tonight the bf is taking his son and some friends of theirs to a local college football game that is going to be played in an outside stadium with no roof covering. It is raining hard already and cold. It is suppose to rain all night and only be in the 50's the whole time they are at the game. They had one guy that wasn't going to be able to make it to the game. So my boyfriend invited me at the last minute to go with them, as he was going to have an extra ticket. But I turned him down, and told him just to invite another friend of the kids to go with them. I didn't want to sit out in the cold and rain and get sick, like they will probably end up with.

Well all my best to you all always. Janette

Today I had a nice Thanksgiving dinner. We actually ate chicken for dinner. I had turkey yesterday. It was good. I had phone calls with both daughters and grandchildren. I would like to be able to spend the holidays with them next year. I normally do but we decided not to travel north this year. I don't have IBS today. I do have a lot of gas, however. Last evening was a terrible day for belly pain. It was actually more on one side than the other. I hope that if I eat less tomorrow and keep exercising, i will feel a lot better.

Darlene - I hope that you did enjoy your Thanksgiving. I know what you mean. This time of the year gets so expensive....especially Christmas.

Not too sure that Thanksgiving at the church will be a good idea after today. I had a ham sandwich for breakfast, an eclair later in the day and a Marie Callendar's grilled chicken dinner for supper. That got my IBS going. My stomach really hurts now.

I got my Thanksgiving meal stuff from the food pantry today. They had a gift card for the turkey (or whatever someone wanted for it), so I got a turkey breast. That's the first time I have just had that, but I didn't want to have part of it go to waste like usually happens because I can't get the meat off the legs. Other than that I got a pecan pie from them and the other fixings for a nice big meal. Then had to get the pumpkin pie for Thursday's meal because they didn't have them this year. This time of year really gets me totally broke.

I'm glad you are feeling better, Linda.

I have been doing somewhat better with the burning. In fact, with most of my problems. Today I ate too much so had some problems, but that went away. I know that this week I have to be careful what and how much I eat. I have a terrible habit of eating too much at holiday dinners. Thursday we are having dinner at church and I signed up to take some pies. They have invited some people from the area (or fairly close) so it should be a fair sized group.

My day was much better today. I did have some gas after eating corn on the cob. But nothing too bad. Sometimes corn can really effect me. But I seemed to do better with it today. I got a walk in today and also did some housework. So it was good to stay active and try to avoid sitting with the belly issues.

Darlene - I hope that you are feeling better today. A couple of days ago I also had severe stomach pain and acid reflux. In fact, when I went to the doctor this past week, he checked my vocal chords due to hoarseness. He said that my hoarseness may be a result of acid reflux. It seems that there are so many things that effect us.

We actually had a high of 80 on Wednesday. Yesterday we got to 34 and got the first snow of the season. I've been trying to get things done to keep it warmer in this house. I finally got the plastic over the window and got the sheet back up that is used for curtains. I hope that plastic window film will stay up. It is the kind you put up with double-sided tape and it didn't want to stick to the tape.

Yesterday my stomach was burning all day. I had taken several gas relief and ended up messaging the Dr. office. Then thought of taking a generic Tums. I think that helped. When the nurse responded to my message she said not to have spicy or greasy food and to go ahead and keep taking the gas relief and maybe some Tums. Also there are appointments available, but I could tell they aren't with my Dr. Today I did okay, so I am going to see if I can just follow what I did today. If it works out, I will just make my regular appointment in January.

Hope the weekend finds everyone well.

We also had the upper 70s today. Cassie and I went out to see Fancy and groom her. She was doing really well. Then we went to Murdoch's because I wanted to find out about some clippers I was interested in and if they had a layaway system. Turned out the clippers are only good for muzzle trim and I need something to get rid of the long hair all over her in the spring. I can't take her up to the barn anymore because she won't leave Jack, her buddy.

Anyway, I got Cassie a new brush and some dog biscuits. She was in her seat belt harness, hooked up, and I went to the camera store. Somehow, she managed to get to the biscuits and ate all of them. You'd think I starved her. She also was cleaning the kibbles that were leaking out of a torn bag.

We have one more really warm day like today. Then in the 40s. I have to get the switch changed to hopefully separate the fan and the lights in the bathroom tomorrow, see if any tomatoes are good to pick, and try to insulate the windows in the bedroom and bathroom I am using now. I wonder if the regular window film over the bedroom window and bubble wrap over the windows that open and in the bathroom. Do you think that would keep things a little warmer? It is really cold in there in the mornings even before it has turned cold.

Darlene, I am having the same problem with our youngest dog. She keeps waking me up an hour or so before I want to get up in the morning. And a lot of times both the dogs wake me up in the middle of the night too because they hear a cat or something.

We were really warm yesterday. Today we are in the high 70's, so a beautiful day in So Ca. I had to work yesterday. Today I have the day off and I am doing housework. And tomorrow I go back to work.

Take care everyone. Janette

Today we had around 70 degrees and I was going to go back out to the barn, but I didn't get enough sleep last night and was falling asleep about the time I was going to go. Tomorrow is suppose to be close to 80 so I will go then. I did go on Sunday and got feed, but a cold breeze came up and just kept going right through my sweater and sweat shirt and I didn't have any other jacket, so didn't really want to be cold while I was there. I wanted to relax while grooming Fancy.

Other than being so sleepy (Orzo doesn't believe in letting me sleep long enough in the mornings), I have been doing okay today.

Maybe you are not getting enough iron, or maybe you are losing with an un-diagnosed bleed some where, or maybe some other health issue making you look pale?

I don't mind them marching and protesting as long as they are doing it peacefully and not vandalizing property. I know that a lot of people have questions to if the two major parties were doing anything to change the out come that would be considered voter tampering. So I can understand the different points of view and them being upset. But I don't like to hear about they setting fires and destroying property. Someone set a canyon on fire in San Diego, don't know if it was part of the protesting or not yet. Luckily I think it just burned a lot of over grown vegetation and maybe some homeless camps. But I don't think anyone was hurt, or homes and or businesses burned down.

Take care

We were fortunate here that the protest remained peaceful, though they did go down and block the main highway through the city. They had one gal on the news who said "I" didn't vote for him (then corrected to he didn't get the popular vote), but that attitude that if "I" didn't approve, the rest of your votes don't count is really showing how bad things have gotten in this country. Too much of this "I am entitled and you aren't" mentality.

I ended up having to take 2 immodium last night. Not sure what was causing the problem. I fixed some chicken and stuffing for supper and did okay with that, but that was after the Immodium. Someone also told me I was very pale yesterday, so I don't know what that was about. They followed me a little ways when I left the Bible Study, but I was okay by then. Today I am feeling okay and Cassie and I went out for a walk.

I have only seen the marches and riots on tv so far. But I have relatives and friends in near by cities and also in other states that are getting stuck in traffic jams from them. My sister that is in down town San Diego not that far from me and a cousin that is really close to where I live keep running into them while they are just going about their normal business. My bf had to go up to LA late last night for his work. We had seen and heard on tv and from other co-workers up there that they are having a lot of marches and riots up there. I saw on tv where they were doing it last night while he was still on his way up there. Luckily he said he didn't see any of it or have problems with traffic from it. But he said when he got up there they were having a power outage for a bit. Not sure if it had anything to do with the marching and riots or not. Luckily it didn't last long and he was able to get his work done and get back home safely early this morning.

I have had friends and relatives that have kids and grand kids in colleges where it is happening at and some of them are scared and hiding out in their dorm rooms from it.

Glad to hear you are feeling better Linda. I am still doing good with it.

Take care everyone

I agree, Janette. It really is sad about the protests and especially the ones turning violent over the recent election. I felt much better today. But I also did eat much lighter. I have been sipping on a lot of water. No sugar today - I think that may have helped.

I hope you both get better sleep tonight. I had that problem last week so I missed my Bible study Friday.

Janette, I would like to be able to take a long, hot shower, especially since I use one of those shower heads that has a low massage, high massage and regular spray (though I need a new one). I have a hand held one so I can move it to where I need it. But my shower turns ice cold within 5 minutes. So I fill the tub with hot water and lay there and soak. My back and hip problems are on the right side usually. I know there is a degenerating disc, but I think almost all the back problem is because of my gall bladder. Not really sure why the hip hurts. Both of them will hurt and MRI showed the left hip was more affected by the chemo, but it is usually the right one that will cause problems. Not very often, though.

I do put the little bit of ACV in the apple juice. That is how the natural treatments that the doctor sent say to do it. That other apple juice just tasted terrible, I think.

Well, today the D was hitting again. I guess it just didn't like eggs today since that is what I had for breakfast. Or maybe it didn't like the salsa or ham.

Ham is one thing that I didn't like for a while. My Dad would make me lunch that I could take to work with me every day and it was almost always ham sandwiches. I got to where I couldn't stand it. When I started eating some ham after that I had to have spicy mustard or peanut butter on the sandwich or I couldn't eat it. I did like it with the potatoes and cheese, though. That is one of my favorite things (and one I eat too much of). We also used to make that potato dish with roast beef.

I didn't sleep well last night. As a result, I have felt sluggish all day. I did take a walk and did a few things. We had dinner at a restaurant and I had a piece of pie. I have regretted eating that since I ate it. I have ended up with a bad case of D most of the night. Hoping that I am starting to feel better.

Darlene - I hope that your IBS still hasn't acted up recently.

Janette - I am so sorry about your back and hip pain. I know that can cause a lot of stress and discomfort. I hope that you are feeling better soon. I am like you, ham is okay but it has never been one of my favorites dishes. However, my husband really likes it so we have it from time to time.

Thanks Darlene!

My back and left hip has been back and forth a lot lately. Sometimes I fell fine and other times it hurts to walk, sit, or lay down, especially on the left side. Heat helps it a lot, so I will let the warm to hot water hit it in the shower when it is acting up. If it gets too bad I will sit in the bathtub. But I don't like sitting in the bath tub really. The warm to hot water is not good for my blood pressure to sit in very long either. And sitting in the tub I feel like I am just stewing in my own sweat. But I don't mind taking a long warm to hot shower at all. And if it is not a hot santa ana day I don't mind sitting with a heating pad that really helps it too. But we are back in the hot santa ana weather again this week. We are in the 90's and really windy. This is the time we have to watch for trees falling over from the winds and from forest fires here.

Darlene, try just putting a tiny bit of the apple cider vinegar into a small bit of water like a shot glass and drinking it down fast. Or mix it in with the apple juice or some tea and drink it fast. olive oil, peanut butter, ACV, citrus & juice, apples & juice are all suppose to be good for gallstones/gallbladder issues.

We had ham, corn bread stuffing and peas for dinner last night, really good. I am not that fond of ham as it can be salty, but this wasn't bad. And a lot of times I will add a little honey or maple syrup to my pieces of ham to help take that saltiness away. The guys love ham any way it is served though. It was a good meal. I think we are going to have left overs of it tonight, as it is just me and the bf tonight. As his kid's mom just got back from a business trip this afternoon after being gone for a bit. So his son will be with her tonight and probably the rest of the week too. As the bf has to go to LA to work Friday and Saturday. He could end up with me as it is our weekend for him, but I am sure he will want to go stay with his mom or a friend since his dad won't be home.

Have a great evening

Mmm, pizza sounds good. I will be having salad with some shrimp on it tonight, I think.

I took my apple juice and vinegar today for my gall problems. Last time I tried that it was so bad I couldn't drink it at all, but it was apparently a kind of apple juice that wasn't very good. Even the vinegar (ACV) tasted bad. This time it was just like a dressing on salad, but not as strong ACV taste. Now I have to bring in some more apple juice (or in this case, apple cider since that is what I have).

I've been feeling pretty good all day, just got the munchies. Guess that is because everything got gone yesterday, you think? Didn't lose any weight, though.

Janette, I'm glad your IBS hasben be behaving. How is your back doing?

Hi ladies, I hope you are all doing better now. I am doing fine with the IBS still, no problems with it. I got some heartburn a few times from tomato sauce in pizza or pasta salads a few times recently, but that's about it. Sometimes I can eat it with no problems and other times it bothers me. I had pasta salad with it Sunday and it bothered me later that night. I had pizza yesterday with no problems at all, but other times the pizza bothered me.

Take care

Linda, I hope you are feeling better today.

It doesn't do me any good to have the gall bladder pain checked out. My PCP would do an ultrasound and maybe refer me to surgery, but they won't do anything for that unless it gets to emergency status. I know that from earlier this year.

Today I have been having problems with the D all day. I think I know what caused it because I had problems yesterday with the same thing. That is all gone now, so shouldn't be a problem. Of course, I had it in the morning and it's still causing problems. Maybe I will lose some weight with that problem.

I had a little bit of D last night. I think it was something that I ate in beef stew. I didn't have terrible pain. I ate light today and actually pretty hungry. But sipped water most of the evening.

Darlene - I am sorry about your pain. I do hope that you get it checked out.

The last couple of days I have noticed a pain over my ribs has come back. I had it a few years ago. I guess I am eating too much fat again. I asked a guy at church who is a doctor what would cause that and he said it is a probably my gall bladder. So I got more ACV to work on that and will also try some Stone Free.

I remember seeing something that I had saved somewhere of a gall bladder disease that causes IBS or IBD. I wonder if that is why I have so many problems. I am going to see if I can find it again. The problem is that the specialists all say there is nothing wrong to cause my IBS.

Hope you all have a good week.

I have been feeling pretty well. Trying to get as much fiber into my diet as possible. So far, it is helping. I also have been exercising and drinking water which also helps me. Going to take a walk with my husband on Sunday. Also, plan to do some grocery shopping and house cleaning. I have been lacking in my cleaning for a couple of days and I am really noticing it. ugh!

Janette - hope that you are doing well.

Darlene - sometimes I drink chamomile tea and it will often help my stomach.

I've bee doing okay enough to get around, but my stomach has really been hurting from gas. I thought I was doing okay today, but it hit right after I had a ham sandwich for breakfast. What I was going to eat (leftovers) burned and that was all I had. Now I'm trying to figure out supper because there isn't anything thawed but ham. So probably will be a potato, ham and cheese meal. I'm also trying to figure which tea will help with my stomach. I had peppermint, but that didn't help, so now I am having lemon-ginger.

Janette, I hope the rest of your week is restful.

I hope you are all doing well. I was really busy lately. And I was having problems with my wireless mouse and key board system too, I had to get a new one.

I got the truck to pass a smog test with no problem Saturday and got a good deal on it too. I went to AAA to get the paperwork done and to get the tags, but they said DMV had been down for a week. It was supposed to be back up this Monday, but she told me since I had plenty of time it would be better for me to come back next week instead of Monday, as there was going to be a ton of people from that week trying to come back in on Monday. I might call them this Saturday and see if they have it up and working now and how busy they are that day. I might do it that day, or some other time next week.

I had another long day Monday at work so glad I wasn't planning on going that day to AAA. And then Tuesday was a really short day, and today was an average day. And now luckily he gave me the rest of the week off. So I can rest up, as next week will be another really busy week with reports needing to go out, and us needing to go do our bookkeeping route to drop off and pick up info from our bookkeeping clients.

All my best to you always. Janette

Janette, that would be hard on anyone, I would think, if they were working that hard the first half of the week. I never had things work out that way, but when I did inventory it was the first 2 months of the year we had the overwork, then most of the year had hardly any work. In January and February we would have 10-12 or more hours a day, 7 days a week. It's no wonder that I was always coming home, feed the dogs and let them out, and go to bed for the rest of the time I was home. Not to mention that is when I had the cancer that I didn't know about.

I have been doing okay the last few days, but I have been taking an Immodium just in case. That, of course, is causing gas pain, so I need to take something for that.

Yesterday was a friend's baby shower. I finally got the blanket I was making for her done at midnight Friday night and I am still tired from trying to get that done and stress from it, too. I had quite a bit of punch at the shower because I kept being thirsty, and that was a little hard on the blood sugar. Had a small piece of the cake, too. I enjoyed the shower. It was so nice with the kids there giving me hugs, too. The mother-to-be had her oldest daughter with her (age 5) and she surprised me by running up to me and giving me a big hug. Actually a few of them, and a little kiss. Then my friend's (grandma of the baby) sister and her daughters got there and when I gave Alice a hug, her two girls turned around for hugging, too. They have just accepted me into their family over the last several years and given me a local family to love.

I am doing pretty well but having a bit of a flare up with my belly..It is not terrible D but a lot of gut pain.

Darlene - I do put some of the Essential Oil on the body. it is helping me. I also went to the doctor this week and have an infection. He put me on some sinus medicine and it is always helping me with less headaches.

Janette - it will be good for the boy to go to his mom's on Halloween since he has friends there. I am certain he will enjoy that more. Sounds like work is keeping you extremely busy.

Glad you are okay Darlene. I heard any citrus is good for energy and helping to lose weight. I just got the orange as they has a lot of free samples of it the night a friend was passing some out to some Church ladies at a meeting I was at. I got the others stuff as free samples they were passing out that night too. I like it, but I have to be careful not too use too much too often as I can get heart burn easily from acidic things like that. As I have issues with heart burn on and off since I had the gallstone issues.

I put in a long day Thursday trying to add up a whole yrs worth of receipts for a client from 2012, most of them were really dirty, and faded out, so really hard to read. Some so faded nothing was on them anymore. Then I stayed up really late chatting online with a cousin I haven't seen for almost 30 yrs. I didn't think I had to go into work this morning. So I slept in. Then got up and turned my cell phone on just to have my boss calling me as it came on begging me to come in the office for a little bit today to help with another issue. I have just been really tired and feeling run down all day. Seems like this keeps happened that I work so much the beginning of the week that by the time I get time off at the end of the week I am too tired to enjoy it and just feel tired and run down.

We have the boy with us tonight and this weekend. Halloween night is our night with him too, but I bet he will go to his mom's house like usual anyways as he always wants to be with all his friends over there on that night instead of just the one neighbor friend over here that he just hangs out with occasionally when he feels like it.

I hope you all have a great night.

Maybe I should try some orange oil when I get enough to get some (if I ever get enough). Or maybe tangerine would work. I think I have some of that and I have lemon. Peppermint, too, is suppose to help with energy from what I have seen (in magazines, so I don't know if it is actually right). I am a Young Living distributor, but mainly just get things wholesale. Anything I ever try to do like sell I fail at. I also have been a representative for Tupperware and for Amway (that one years ago). So I don't try to sell. I have talked to people before about EO, but they just pooh pooh the idea of that. If someone else told them about them that wouldn't be the case. My direct upline has pretty much stopped doing anything, so I have to go above her to someone in Minnesota to find out things. My friend who ordered just noticed I am a distributor on my FB profile.

I heated some water for tea and am planning to have some peppermint tea. I definitely need something to relax tonight because my stove caught fire. I am use to having it just smoke or else any fire will just go out when I turn off the burner. Not this time, it just got worse and trying to get it out with flour it kept getting worse instead of better. Couldn't take any time to look for baking soda which I could only remember having downstairs. I finally got it smothered.

My mom use to use Peppermint and other oils in water to help our stomach issues. I have relatives and friends that sell DoTerra oils and I have tried several samples from them. I had several samples of oils and candy, and such to help with cold season. And then oils to help with pain, and special tooth paste too. I really liked it. But at the time that I got the samples I didn't have any income to buy any. I still have several bottles of orange oil that I was given that was suppose to help you feel awake and energized, and suppose to help you lose weight too.

Well have a great night everyone

I never thought of eucalyptus for headaches, but thinking about it that makes sense, at least if a person has sinus headaches, which seem to be the ones that give the worst headaches for a lot or people. I know that my migraines were caused by a combination of optical migraine and sinus. Are you using it strictly aroma or do you also use it on your skin for the headache? I think I used the peppermint both over the sinuses where the headache started and on the temples.

Yesterday I used Joy, just for the smell of it. One drop on my wrist and then rubbed with the other wrist and one drop just below my neck. It smelled so good and lasted all day. There is some actress or model that designs clothes that uses that for her perfume.

Today didn't go too well. I had a large piece of garlic bread for breakfast, which might be the problem. I put it under the broiler and when I pulled it out it looked like I could go swimming on top of it. For lunch I met my friend for lunch to give her the oils she ordered and I only had some soup and brought the salad home. Didn't help my gut though. I got sick on the way home. I am just so sick and tired of that happening. I was trying to do my shopping and didn't even make it halfway to the store I was going to.

I use essential oils. What are you using them for? I did try DiGize a couple weeks ago for my stomach pain that turned out to be from gas. It seemed to help. I just forget to use them a lot of the time. In the winter I try to make sure I have eucalyptus because I end up a lot of the time without being able to breathe. I have some "flavoring" essential oil of cinnamon, but that one I don't know if it will do anything other than just add flavor to things. Much of what I have I just use in the air, but I have used different ones for muscle pain and for headaches. Peppermint has helped when I have headaches. Trying to figure how to put this. Peppermint tea, peppermint, peppermint oil is suppose to help when someone has an upset stomach. From what I read the other day, IBgard is peppermint oil in a capsule. I just got an order in for a friend for cinnamon and peppermint EOs.

I have been doing pretty well today except I had too much sweets. I am hoping that nothing goes wrong tonight or before I get home tomorrow, at least. I am taking the oils to my friend tomorrow at church, so I want to not have any problems.

I hope that you are all enjoying your weekend. I finally bought some essential oils and anxious to see how they help. Does anyone else use them? We went shopping today, to a late lunch out and then to the beach to walk for a bit (also sat and just relaxed for awhile.) It was a good day. I am just Sparking this evening. Have a belly full of gas from the food I ate.

Darlene - I can relate. Having IBS is so horrible and tiring. Never knowing when an attack will occur or what will "set it off." It is so difficult to have this illness.

I was fine yesterday until after I wrote on here. Then the IBS hit again. We had a question of the day on one team the other day that asked what we would like to have less of in our life. Mine was IBS. I am just so tired of it. Today I was afraid to eat anything again, but I can't keep that up. I ate some, just not a lot.

Thanks Ladies! My back and hip are finally feeling better now. And Luckily I am off work now until Monday Morning, WooHoo!

Linda, so sorry for your loss and for not being able to get there for the funeral. All my best to you and your family always.

Darlene, we usually keep different brands of peppermint and chamomile teas in the house all the time. Then I usually have several fun types, like different fruits and such too. Usually have some type of green tea in the house too. But when I get sick I like my Traditional brand. I haven't tried the ones for stomach issues before, I didn't even know they had them until I did some research on it for you. I might get some of them to keep on hand for us too. Like keeping a well stocked cabinet of lots of choices of different teas. I started drinking them more again hot and cold to try to wean myself back off of drinking the guys sodas and juice and such.

I have been doing pretty good today other than not getting everything done that I need to do. I need to read a chapter in my Bible study book and by the end of next week I have to have a baby blanket done. So one week to finish that blanket and I am not that fast. I hope I can get it done.

Linda, I am sorry about your step-mom. It is too bad you cannot get back for her funeral.

Janette, I hope your back and hip are feeling better.

Today I went to a yoga class which often seems to help me with some of my belly issues. We also went out for dinner but fortunately, no problems yet. My step mother died yesterday. My father is already deceased. Since she was living in Ohio and I am in Florida I won't be able to attend her funeral.

Darlene - I am sorry about your attack when you when you went to lunch. Stress will certainly do that to me too.

Janette - I am so sorry that you hurt your back. I hope that you feel better soon.

Thanks Janette. I have tried the Breathe Easy and Throat Coat. Haven't needed that kind for a while. My peppermint is Celestial Seasonings, as are a lot of the ones I get, and I have a lemon ginger from somewhere. I am a really big tea drinker.

I have been doing okay today. Just a little gas hitting now. That and I am sleepy now. Haven't really had much good to eat today, though. Well, maybe since I got some more chicken and ground beef and got it in the freezer so it doesn't go bad, plus got a few veggies and berries, so I might do better for a bit. I forgot about making a smoothie this morning. Maybe I can remember tomorrow.

Darlene, I keep forgetting to tell you about the tea I am drinking, I have been drinking it for years to help with my asthma and colds. www.traditionalmedicinals.com/produc

I get their Breathe Easy and their Throat Coat teas all the time. And sometimes I buy their Gypsy Cold Care too. They have all kinds of good teas for different symptoms. I see they have one called Belly Comfort Peppermint that use to be called Eater's Digest. They also have Teas to calm you and teas to detox you, and one for gas and bloating, one called Ginger Aid for healthy digestion, one with ginger and chamomile, a Stress Ease with Cinnamon, one with cranberry that is suppose to help with temporary water weight gain and lots more. You might want to check them out?

I made it through Sunday okay other than some stomach pain that turned out to be gas, so my homemade potato, ham and cheese "soup" didn't bother me.

Yesterday, I had breakfast with a friend at VI and was okay until I was waiting to be called in for an interview for my assistance. Then the IBS hit really sudden. So I had Immodium and now am having problems the other way. Guess stress might have been part of it. The interview went okay and fast. Don't know what they needed me there for. All she asked was if all the information was the same as what I turned in on the 3rd. She said she would call me in a half hour with the results, but it is 23 hours later and I haven't heard.

Tried to go to a knitting class at the library yesterday (couldn't even find that library, but I know where it is now) and come to find out it was at 1:00 instead of 6:00 like I thought it was. Couldn't have made it at 1:00. I just want to learn to cast on the right way and maybe how to follow patterns with that and do the cables. With crochet I don't have a problem with that as long as the patterns are written clearly (I did have a pattern that no one could understand).

I had a good vacation. I really did not have any problem with D.I did not always eat so well but for some reason my D didn't bother me. I hope that continues through the week.

I think there is something about the way they make yogurt and cheese that changes how people react to it. People who are lactose intolerant can sometimes eat the yogurt and cheese without a problems.

I think that maybe the soup I got is what I can't eat more than the potatoes and such. I hope so. I made some of my homemade stuff and am trying it. I am hoping that it works. This morning I had some of that soup and immediately got sick again.

Janette, that tea sounds good (and the nap, too). Maybe I will pack some tea like that to take to church tomorrow. Will take something so I don't get hit with the IBS-D again. Then and Monday, both. I am stressed about that day.

Had the day off from work. Didn't do as much walking and exercise today as I did through the week, but did good on eating healthy foods. I did so much walking and other stuff this week that I just took it easy today. Tomorrow I will get a lot of exercise in with errands and housework.

Thanks Ladies! Sorry I have been MIA. I have just been really busy with work and such and also felt tired and ran down a lot lately too. I managed to get my reports done, my bookkeeping and payroll done for the week. I will have more payroll and bookkeeping to do next week, but at least my Fed and State third quarter reports are done, and either hand delivered or going out in the mail to the clients. So next week should be a lot easier than the last few weeks.

But I admit I ate a lot of pop corn when I got home, and even ate some of the chips the guys had in the house a couple of times. Today though I just had some herbal tea and then took a nap when I got home to rest up before my boyfriend went to get his son from school. The boy's mom has been out of town more the last few months on business than she has been home. So the boy has been with us a lot more, which can be stressful too.

4DOGNIGHT, dairy foods help produce mucus. I avoid milk because of this as it always seemed to make me cough and hack after drinking it growing up. I don't have ice cream much either for the same reason. And milk shakes I can't drink with a straw, I need a spoon as I can start wheezing from my asthma otherwise too. The ice cream I usually stir up and let melt a bit so it is more like a soft serve before trying to eat it too. But yogurt and chess don't seem to bother me unless I am already sick and having issues with bronchitis. I gave up my morning yogurt and cream cheese I was eating on my bagels a lot last month as I noticed I was coughing and hacking a lot right after eating them while I was fighting bronchitis and almost over the bronchitis.

Darlene, I hope they straighten out your financial aid.

I hope you are all doing better tonight and have a great weekend. I have still been doing great with my IBS. Janette

That sounds interesting, Carol. Did you figure out what caused the throat and nose to fill up? Seems to me that it would be more the bagel and cream cheese that would do that than something at Ruby Tuesdays. So that would really be strange, but you just never can tell with IBS. I tried to eat with no fiber today, but guess I ate too much. Either that or it was from the spaghetti yesterday. Late this afternoon I got really sick.

Even though it has been warm today it is cold in the house since about 4:30 and I would like some hot cocoa. I don't know if my gut can handle that, but I might try it anyway. I'm wondering where I have the splenda.

Does that app have one for android, too? I just have one of the cheaper ones.

I found an App for Iphone for $2.99. It is called Food My Symptons. The reviews were mixed but what it does, you enter the food you eat and then you can enter the symptoms you are having any time of the day. Last night, I ate at Ruby Tuesdays and immediately afterward, my throat and nose filled up with mucus. I was able to track it on the phone. You can even print out a report and show it to your doctor so I am using it to find out what foods trigger my symptons. Today I did not take any fiber supplement so no bowel movement at all. we will see how that goes. This morning I had half a bagel with cream cheese and had no mucus symptons at all. That was good. We'll see about lunch. Carolk

I have so much trouble when I get much fiber. I did manage the spaghetti squash the last couple of days, but yesterday I ended up with a really bad attack of gas and a lot of belly pain. Today it is okay. I have tried staying away from some of the things they are always saying that people with IBS need to avoid. That doesn't work at all other than if it is talking about avoiding gas and that sometimes says avoid things that don't do anything to me, either. Tonight I saw a post that talked about a no-residue diet and I am wondering if that will help. I looked it up. One of the reports I read said it could not be used long term, one said it could. I am going to try it while trying to stay away from anything too high carb and see if it will help. Of course, I probably have all sorts of stuff it says not to have and less than what it says to have. That would be for D of course. I think for C you would probably need more fiber rather than less.

I have IBS alternating, more toward C. I stopped taking Immodium for bouts of D unless I'm desperate because it can send me into a profound case of C. What seems to help me is to make sure I keep my soluble and insoluble fiber intake balanced. For me, that's 2-3 grams soluble, 8 grams insoluble, daily alongside my usual diet. Took me a year of experimenting to find that out. Even doing that, though I still have unmanageable days. Hang in there. You're right about the "getting old" thing!

I have been taking prilosec for years. Don't know what to do about it when it is prescribed by the doctor. The doctor increased the dosage as it wasn't too high and since the increase, my bowels have been moving better although D is showing up. It is difficult to know what to do when the onslaught occurs. After years and years of constipation, this is a new thing for me. Will be interesting to see what the doctor says on Friday about my barium swallow test. I fully expect it to be normal which leads me to think that the prilosec is helping, not hindering. I feel less bloated and not as hungry. Hard to know what to do. I started tracking C and D on the calendar to see if there is a trend. Carol

4DogNight, I can totally understand what you are talking about, but don't take the prilosec. Today I have problems with the gas and I guess "C". I thought I'd have problems the other way since having the spaghetti squash Maybe that kind is more like broccoli with how it reacts to the digestive system? At least that is what it is doing to me.

Guess I will try a hot water soak again and see if that will help. It did some last night.

I am traveling this week. We live in Florida but are down in the Florida Keys for a few days with hubby, youngest daughter and her family. Having a great time but having some IBS symptoms - gas and belly pain. ugh! A few days ago I developed arch pain in my left foot and that is on and off pain as well.

Janette - sounds like a busy time for you at work. I hope that you are feeling well.

Darlene - good luck! I really hope that your meeting goes well.

4Dog Night - I know what you mean about getting old. It seems as though I have another pain or problem all of the time. My IBS often alternates between C & D. But it is usually D. I had a salad when we went out to dinner and I have really had a lot o belly pain since then. Really miserable and traveling at this time.

I guess I am going to have to make a doctor's appointment so he can diagnose me with IBS something. Been having boughts of D alternating with constipation but mostly D. Then I am seeing an ENT about coughing and choking and he upped the prilosec I was taking. Did a barium swallow on me so going for results on Friday. Not fun having to know you need to stay by the toilet. In addition, all this coughing is leading to leaks, if you know what I mean. Getting old is not for sissies. I think I am going to have to change my dietary habits, like a low Fodmap diet or something.

Finally got my spaghetti squash eaten, at least about half of it. I am hoping that I will be okay with that. I made it into spaghetti. I don't really know how else to fix it.

There is a meeting tomorrow for our Medicare advantage plan. Hope they don't have too many increases in costs.

I am stressed about something with the Human Services. They have called me for a face-to-face interview, which last time meant they not only were taking away food assistance, but made me pay back 14 months because of their ineptness. Seems that my paperwork was thrown aside that time and the file in the computer deleted. The file had to be in the computer because they wouldn't send any assistance until it was in the computer.

Jenni, I hope all goes well with your application for college.

Linda, I can't remember what the stuff is that causes those stones. The problem with trying to remember what to eat is there is so much that they just keep saying eat or don't eat. You see everybody saying to eat green leafy vegetables, everybody eat cruciferous vegetables, etc. Then when you get some problem you find out what they told you to eat is what is causing problems. In my case, everything they say to eat that is suppose to help prevent cancer is a cause of problems for me. I think for most of us on this team it gets really confusing because of all the crazy things they say about what to eat.

Today has not been too good for me. It started out good. I had my appointment this morning to get my CICP renewed (Colorado program for low income medical assistance), then got an insulated glass so that I can keep my water cold and went out to the barn after getting Fancy's feed. I was grooming her when my phone rang and things went downhill from there. I turned in my forms for the Medicare Savings program and food assistance and now they are apparently questioning them and I have to go in to see them. Of course, I am a stress eater and went and got a malt because I got stressed. My gut has been hurting ever since that. I just wish I could do something to get rid of the IBS so I could get a part--time job. Of course, age and looks makes that hard anyway. Couldn't get anything worthwhile before I got sick and the part--time job I had they wouldn't let me go back to since I had had the cancer. The company said it was better for them that I not work for them.

Today has been a pretty good day. No IBS issues at all. I've been incredibly tired today though, but I think it's because I've been extremely stressed about my university application for the spring term classes. I discussed it earlier today with my partner who knows me and my body about as well as I do and we together put together a plan for my application, so I sent it in just a moment ago.

I feel pretty well today. I did have beans and it actually seemed to agree with me. I know that fiber is good and glad that I got it today.

Jennichry - hope that you are feeling better. I hate that gassy feeling.

Darlene - thanks for the info on kidney stones. We do eat dark green leafy veggies. We really do need to keep in mind what we should eat and not eat.

The last week or so I have been having problems with my gut hurting and alternating with D and C. Mostly, it is D, then I have to take something and I end up with C. Usually by morning the pain is gone, but not today. Today it stayed until after church. I tried some DiGize and I think that might have helped. I didn't try much of it, though. I was fine until after lunch then and then it started hurting again. All I had for lunch was a salad and a few spoonfuls of soup, then brought the remainder of the soup home. I was going to have spaghetti for dinner (squash and spaghetti sauce), but I couldn't eat that much, so I had the leftover soup. Now my gut hurts again. That is the way it has been going for a long time.

I've been trying to do a few things while the gas prices are lower. Last week I went up in the mountains. I wanted to see the gold up there, but the route I took didn't really have any aspen. I finally did find some and got a few pictures (I put them in a blog). I haven't been on a drive in the mountains for over 11 years and probably closer to 17 or 18. I had also gotten rather upset that day or the day before, with it continuing over until I got on that drive in the mountains. I would have been disappointed if I hadn't found any aspen in color, but it sure was stress busting to take that drive.

I haven't been on here in a long time it seems, so I'm not getting any notifications. Anyway, I thought I'd check in and see what is going on.

Linda, do you and your husband eat dark green leafy vegetables or things like that. There are a lot of other things, too, that cause kidney stones and gall stones (though the latter seem to be more from fat). It seems like a lot of things that people are always told to eat that cause stones. I can't remember what that type of stone is called. I looked it up because I get gall stones and was interested in the turmeric paste, but the turmeric can cause problems with gall stones if it pushes them into the bile duct and they get stuck.

I've been a bit gassy, but nothing that's bothering me. Hope you all have a good day.

I have had a few days of foot pain (in the arch of left foot.) I rested it and seems that I am feeling much better. I had a bit of an issue with my belly today, but not full blown D. I have been drinking a lot of water this evening and think I am getting a bit better.

Happy Sunday, everyone.
