I also have not had an attack in a couple of weeks. I am trying to eat better and try to not stress. Stress is definitely a trigger for me.

I'm having less problems with D. I cut down the amount of fruit that I'm eating. I eating only one piece a day. Two or more give me trouble. I stopped eating nuts. I'm eating lots of high fiber cereal.
I'm not been able to get out today. I had to shovel snow and then I started housework and laundry. I want to get to the pharmacy today, but I hate leaving when laundry is going.

I have been feeling much better. I didn't have a problem with D because I watched my diet more closely. Hope you are all feeling well.

Aw, that's too bad Linda. Nothing like a nice dinner then to have it be a long night in the bathroom. Hope it doesn't hold on long and that you are feeling better soon. xo Beni

Today I did not have a problem but I did last night. I had eaten a nice dinner but there was some fried shrimp on my plate (at a restaurant). I had a pretty long night with D. Thankfully, I ate better today.

I haven't had a problem in two or three days. I know it was the nuts and greasy foods that has been doing me in. I have no problem with spicy food. I use spice to add flavor since I can't handle high fat food. When eating out, I find Asian food to be my best bet. Indian can have a lot of butter so I have to be careful around it. Italian food is very dangerous. It has lots of oil and butter even a salad at an Italian restaurant can cause me to have a reaction. It think triggers are very personal. I have no problem with salt or spice, but problems with greasy and/or high protein type foods.

Spicy or greasy foods can really cause problems for me. Drink a lot of water and get exercise. It helps but occasionally I still have a problem. But not as much as I did at one time.

There are many days I don't feel like getting out of bed. There are days that I feel like I'm running to the bathroom many times an hour. I wish I knew what foods caused the problems. I know nuts are a problem for me, but I ate them anyway. I don't have peanuts, seeds or nuts which caused my latest problem. I want to eat them because they're a good source of protein and essential fats, but they aren't worth the trouble. I'll need to find another source of calories and protein that doesn't make me run to the bathroom. I rather not eat empty calories (junk food) even if my stomach can tolerate it.

I agree. I do eat out once a week but sometimes find that there must be an ingredient in the food that causes spasms, etc.

Today is a better day than I've had in a long while. I drank 4 full glasses of water and ate no wheat bread--not planned, it just turned out that way. Wondering if symptoms will return when I add wheat back. I need to start keeping a food diary.
Thanks for all the great info, everyone. Jae

I often play Russian roulette as well. I have discovered I also suffer from lactose intolerence. Dairy products really cause a lot of problems which sounds similar to what you are suffering. You can buy OTC products for this condition. I find that sometimes they help and sometimes they don't. It is a very irritating condition.

Hey Linda, lately I have been playing Russian roulette with my food it seems. Dairy is now completely out but everytime I move my bowels it feels incomplete sometimes and uncomfortable in my lower region. Does anyone else have this problem?

I am eating oatmeal for breakfast today. It usually helps regulate my bowels. Planing to go out to dinner this evening. This can be tricky picking the right food that won't mess with my gut.

I read the post about recharging from the lightening, gosh wouldnt that be nice? I know the plants in the garden like it so why cant we get something from it? I guess having a major gut ache at 7 am is making my head think crazy. My bowels are taking a bounce from d to c and back again and my poor body is whipped. Hence my weird thinking about lightening. have a great day all!

I have been totally exhausted here for the last couple of weeks. Blamed it on weather but never really thought about it being my crohns. Time to get up in morning and all I want to do is go back to sleep. I know this will pass but hate waiting for it too. Plan to take a walk tonight and see if that makes a difference on my sleep!!

We've been having a few thunderstorms the last several days that has brought our temps down out of the 100's, and watered suffering yards and gardens. Yay! Don't you wish you could recharge from all the free electricity with lightening or something like that? Maybe it could at least "charge up" my motivation, lol.
Hugs to you all. I had a good tummy day yesterday. Waiting to see how today and tomorrow goes. Sat would be a good day to get a good workout in. Gotta keep those exercises regular to keep me regular!

Man, I could use some sort of charge today and yesterday, too. I blame it on my IBS but I am never positive, but something has caused me to have absolutely no energy! I sit down and fall asleep almost instantly. I get up to do something and walk around like a zombie in motion! I'm pitiful! I have struggled with C for a few days now, actually my body coming out of it, so that's why I put the blame where I do. I do know from experience, however, that this too will pass, it just seems like forever before it will! I'm so glad I could share this with someone who comprehends it instead of thinking it's just another gripe!

Yes, I need a little get up and go. maybe not as the forum moderator intended. IBS is severe and has had my down for two days now. My system is so slow I drank a 10oz bottle of Magnesium Citrate ( wonderful if you love lemons!) hours ago and no action yet. I am determined to continue the rest of my cardio tonight hoping that will speed things along.
This message popped up again as if to remind me, don't get too comfy there, this time next week you'll have already had that root canal done and it will go fine.

I lost 2 pounds! yay! I had Trader Joe's nine grain cereal and some Cracklin' Oat Bran and a banana for breakfast this morning. I've been having to take an anti-gas pill after every meal, otherwise...well, you know. It can be so embarrasing at times. I go see my GI doctor on Friday.

Congratulations! That's great news. I had oatmeal for breakfast today, which I needed for the ole' sluggish digestive system. Not much happening down there. The good news is that I really haven't had any IBS pain this week, and only the very mildest TMJ stiffness (and only last night for that), which I'm sure was due to a bad day at work yesterday and the habit of bringing my work home --- not just the work but the worries about it.

I had peanut butter with Omega 3 and a little honey on 100-calorie whole wheat bread for lunch. Yesterday, I took about ten minutes to do some "yoga at work" exercises I found online. It really helped me get through the last hour or so, when I was in a bad slump. I think I'll try to squeeze in one of those 10-minute yoga breaks at work as often as I can this semester.

A 5-mile run! Fabulous. I hope your stomach is better. I ate too much bread today. I love bread. I also ate three small cookies. Sigh. The carbs are definitely my weakness. I was exhausted after work, so I crashed on the couch until 8:30 p.m. and then worked for two more hours. I'm about to call it a night. Blessings to everybody!

I'm praying for you to have a speedy recovery. While you have to be a little more still, though, and depend on others, I wish you a mind that is not anxious. Do something creative with your time that you usually don't sit still for... draw or paint or color, write letters to friends and loved ones, listen to music.

Sounds good, Linda. I "walked" as I mowed the yard in 90 degree plus weather. LOL. I mowed most of it the other day, which was my first workout of the week, and did the rest today, which gave me another good 20 minute sweat. It's a push mower, needless to say. Now I'm about to load up the mower in the truck and take it to a friend's house... her mower is broken. I might mow some over there too. I hope everybody has a great day and a healthy stomach.

Sounds like you did well with your exercise, Mamacita and Dee. Dee, I'm curious, have you ever tried any herbal (home-grown by you) products, such as herbal teas? Or any herbal teas of the boxed varieties? Some of them seem to soothe my digestive issues, including gas. I'm enjoying some mint green tea right now, in fact. It's really nice after dinner. I had homemade vegetable beef soup for dinner... yum. I hope everybody rests well tonight. Blessings. Please see the link for more info on the herbal teas. findmeacure.com/2006/11/10/herbal-tea-as-s tomach-soothers/

Sometimes it's hard for me to get going in the morning. Today, I'm getting in the groove with an online radio station from Montreal called "We Funk" --- a show called "Show 611," featuring "funk & hip hop summertime classics from Lupe, The Klaxons, Amy Winehouse, Youngblood Brass Band as well as a few special surprise selections." It's definitely a mood-lifter. I will provide the link. I wish you a healthy and blessed day. I've had my mini-wheats this morning, which always seem to help prevent my IBS symptoms. How about you? www.wefunkradio.com/radio/
