Good morning..

Mol...hang in there. I'm struggling a bit myself. I had a workout yesterday then came home and sat on my butt until I took a nap. My eating wasn't the best either. I yell ya..this heat is unbelievable. No energy for me right now.

Hey...its only a day or to. I'm committing to doing better today.I know its easier for me when I'm at work.

Today I'm getting the oil changed on my car and then Linda and I are going grocery shopping. All before it gets hot! After that treadmill for me and some house cleaning!

I'll probably start a rock painting. I haven't told you that this is kinda blowing up in my face. I have to paint 3 ladybugs, a gray tabby cat and a mermaid. I'm starting the mermaid today. And yes...people are actually paying me for this. People really seem to like the galaxy stones. I'll probably have to do some of those. Hey....extra income after retirement! Thats what I'm thinking!

Have a great day!

Good evening PLOFers!

Ok. I am really messing up. I am not sure that I can reign it in until I get back home. However, then I will only be home 2-3 days and then gone for 2 again. I am trying to keep in mind that just because I mess up one meal does not mean that I need to mess up all day. I am having my Raisin Bran in the morning, and it keeps me full all day. However, tonight we met two new friends for dinner. I had two Frozen margarettas and the guts of a chicken enchilada. Oh...and I had quite a few Tostitos chips and cheese. Yesterday, I did well also until a friend met us at the hotel, and we all ordered pizza. I know that My eating is not based on hunger but based on cravings.

The only good thing that I can report in terms of sparking is that I got in the hotel pool the past two days and did my own type of water exercises. It wore me out.

DG- so glad to her Dusky is doing better.

Cat- Glad you are doing a lot better.

Carol - rock on!

Cheryl, Gold, Cirra, and all others ----

Keep on sparking!

DG, just checking back in to say I'm so glad Dusky seems to be on the rebound!!

I love biofreeze and have used it for years after it was recommended by my chiropractor. There have been times in my life when I wished I could BATHE in biofreeze!!! Maureen is a firm believer in Tiger Balm and I have to say that works well too.

Hi ya'll,

Carol it sounds like you were mesmerized !!! Must have been awesome. I was always a big fan of the Beatles too. I almost had a chance to see them on their early visit to Baltimore in the 60s, but it was sold out by the time I was able to go. Was only about 12 years old at the time, LOL, would have been my very 1st concert too :( Melissa on the other hand I've seen several times and never a disappointment .

Cat that cold/flu thing is being stubborn huh, sorry hope it goes away soon hon. Good luck with the new contractors and improvements. I'd be concerned about the runoff too. Sounds like you are on your way to live vegan, hope it turns out to be all you want it to be too.

Dusky def seems a bit better today still has the scabs and gives them some attention but I think he may be trying not to pick at them. Het is way more vocal and flying and climbing about tonight. So I am feeling a lot better about his progress right now.
I got some BIO_FREEZE roll on from my bro for my knee and OMG it works almost immediately !!! I may just be able to get my walk in later tonight. It's still ugly out side. The heat just stifles you so we shall see.

Well I hope everyone else has had a good day and I wish you all a good evening as well.

dg out !!!

Greetings lovely PLOF...

Carol, I'm feeling your love for Sir Paul all the way over here!! Incredible isnt it, how he still has all that zest, talent and stamina after what is probably thousands (?) of concerts. He must be in his mid 70s by now and what a life hes had. I hope Melissa is doing the same show we saw a couple months ago here, it was awesome!!!

Arghhh re your knee DG, sorry your body put up this obstacle to your walking. Probably good to see someone about it sooner than later if you can manage it. Sending healing energy your way and a big hug.

Still battling the after effects of this dang flu/cold. I dont believe Im contagious any longer but the hacking really alarms people. I came into the office late today as we had a special HOA gardening committee meeting with our new contractors. It was awesome, I always learn alot, and I think well have a great relationship with them. We have a large property and it is very park like with many huge trees, native plants, shrubs, etc. so its a big job over $35,000 per year so we want to make sure they will be able to stay to our desire to start an IPM plan which means moving to totally non-toxic methods which is more work for them. Many of us were concerned about the effects of chemical run-off from our property down to the lake and also about our pets and wildlife.

We did a long walkabout so I got a good amount of steps in plus walking from the parking garage here which is half a mile from the office. Did some shopping at Costco last night and got all vegan friendly items. Hummus, almond flour crackers, various fruits and veggies. Im transitioning slowly. The 3 things Im going to have the hardest time with is seafood, most especially sushi and salmon, half & half in my morning coffee, and of course all baked goods. For lots of people it seems to be cheese but I'm not that addicted to that. Fortunately most bread is vegan and especially my fave sourdough.

K, everyone have a mindful rest of your day. Keep learning, eating well and exercising!

Good morning ladies...

Swoon swoon....ive got a case of the vapors LOL!! I'm still in in love with Paul and he did not disappoint!!!! I could go on and on about the concert last night! It was spectacular!! What I loved most was the connection he had with his audience. He shared stories about his fellow BEATLES, how some of their songs came to be and their early years. Some stories were humorous , some bittersweet. He did a beautiful tribute to John, George, and of course his late wife. Linda. At his age that guy still had it! He sang his very first song, last song with Kanye, and everything in between....full on 3 hour concert and worth every penny Class act ...loved it! Once in a lifetime.

Now on to Melissa....she has a hard act to follow but I'm sure she will be wonderful!

The heat ...we've been on red alert for 3 days now. Next 3 days look like 102 degrees. I'm gonna get around and get to the gym and home before noon.

Later ladies!

Carol

Good Thursday my friends;

We have a code RED here today so no outside activity recommended. I didn't take my walk last night for 2 reasons it was still very hot and humid at 9pm 89* and my left knee is really bothering me. Don't know why ??? So decided it was best not to push it since it was still so hot out anyway. The walk from the garage to the hospital is breathtakingly horrid. I still walk the ramps down so as to at least get 10 mins of walking in. Not able to manage that when I leave tho. Anyway just doing the best that I can right now. Update on Dusky is I 'think' he may be improving a little, he's not perching much right now but I am putting his bowls on the bottom so he can eat and drink. He's eating so that's a good thing. Just keeping my eye on how he's doing all the time with concern.

Read what's going on with everyone and sounds like you all are doing very well and having good times as well. Love that you are sharing pics too. Right now I'm having a rough time responding while trying to give Dusky the attention he needs.

Let's stay focused on the tasks at hand to make the best healthy choices we can each day. Remember our health is what this journey is all about !!!! Stay strong, stay positive and do what needs to be done to make it happen in your world. Keep smiling and being kind to others.

Blessings to all.

Hello PLOFers!
Luckily, our heat is not as bad as Carol or DG's. We are only in the upper 80's. We are having an issue with the rv air, so my activities are limited as I cannot leave the girls alone in the rv/van. I changed a defective battery before this trip, but something is still up. I am investigating. Right now, the girls and I are parked under a tree in a park. However, this morning I got a full hour of movement in the hotel swimming pool in before the temps got warm. It was a lot of. Fun, too, and I Had the pool to myself! A friend is passing through the town we are in, so we are getting together tonight.
It will be fun, but not like the fun Carol is going to have tonight. :)
I read some interesting articles today that I will process and use the info for my next move after I get back. That is not to say that I am not being mindful because I am!
All for now.
Take Care ya'all,
MO

Yes, happy let's get over the hump day!

Carol Im so excited for you re the concert, what a once in a lifetime experience. The energy is going to be out the roof!! And oofta 106 is something Im not sure Ive ever experienced nor care to except maybe in a sauna lol! DG, I bet you will begin to see the benefits of your walking, after all if you are consistently burning more calories than you have in the past and not eating more it stands to reason that the scale would start to reflect that. It always seems to take a few weeks for me, I think the body needs time to adjust to burning the calories differently and not hoarding what's there in case of starvation. Consistency is the key!

Storms game was so much fun, what a great crowd and the playing was awesome. Unfortunately, they lost to the Chicago Sky after making a strong start. And the fact the part of the proceeds went to Planned Parenthood was a bonus. I could def see going to more games, tickets are the same as a movie!

Feeling even better today, slept all night without having to be woken up by a cough or to blow my nose. I bet it will be over by week's end. Surprisingly I got 5700 steps in yesterday, and many were stairs at the stadium. Im having a good week foodwise, my habits are def changing re between meal snacks and eating right before bedtime, its gotta help.

Breakfast, oatmeal with flax seed, blueberries, coffee, milk and 6 oz OJ. Lunch, vegetarian chili, sprinkling of shredded cheddar, 10 black cherries. Dinner will be the spinach, walnut, strawberry salad with poppyseed dressing and a protein drink. And lots of water and detox tea.

So glad you're having a good day, Gold. emoticon

And enjoy your concert, Carol. Very cool! emoticon

Last night went out with our little family for margaritas...it was Anthony's Saturday and we had a really fun time. We're all working so hard and with different schedules, it was just nice to be out in the warm evening catching up. So, yeah, a few extra calories, but worth it.

I'm feeling pretty good and want to focus on fitness and nutrition and will continue to try and make that a priority.

Speaking of...wow, Cat, vegan! Keep us posted. I briefly saw a title for a book about going vegan and skimmed through some of it, but I don't think veganism is in my future.

DG, so glad you're getting steps in (you, too, Gold!). My mom is becoming more sedentary and it really makes me sad to see her so stiff. I encourage her as gently as I can to get her stretching.

Hope you all are comfortable and not suffering from the heat and humidity too much.

Keeping you in my thoughts, NS. You, too, Cirra. Take care.

Hi, Having a good day and want to get out and get my walking in before it gets to hot. On my walk yesterday my fitbit said I had walked 1.7 miles, but my strp count was less than 2000 steps. I fell something is wrong somewhere.

Sounds like you all are being mindful of your situations, fitness and eating. I hope I can fit in here soon.

Love Ya

Good morning and a HAPPY HUMP DAY friends;

Yes the heat is still with us and I waited till almost 9pm to take my walk last night with Mya. We walked a little slower too.

I am very pleased that I am walking on a regular basis now and aim to keep it up with increasing time each month. Food choices have been on target and happy that I am having NSV with my clothes being more comfortable lately. Wish the scale would catch up too, LOL !!

Enjoy the concert tonight Carol, I saw that street sign posted somewhere on FB but can't remember where. COOL !!

Ladies have a great day, make good choices in all you do, stay strong, keep smiling and be kind to others. Remember someone may be dealing with something hard and your kindness can mean more than you know.

Good morning....

DG....wow do i sympathize about the heat. When I got in my car last night after my gym workout it said 106 but as I drove it went down. Our high here was 103...actual temp. Drink a lot of water and stay indoors if possible.

Today will be a long day with our concert tonight. I'm sure we'll be pumped to see Sir Paul. They changed the street sign by the arena to Abbey Road...cute. Can't wait but it's going to be hot and we have to get there early . They've added a lot of extra security procedures given recent events. That's a good thing!

Have a great day! I'll be here tomorrow but late!

Hi there team;

I wanted to post before I went out for my walk. It was an ok day at work and glad it's over. Food at work was on target and dinner ended up being a spinach salad and a piece of plan whole wheat naan. Temps here are atrocious just didn't have it in me to cook tonight. Will try again with the cod tomorrow.

Gold the swelling is probably the prednisone indeed. Mom used to change her entire look whe she was on it. Hope you get relief soo, Also hope your Fitbit turns up too.

Cheryl just keep enjoying the weather as long as you can. Less clothing is always good in my book - well at least in my house or my own yard, LOL !!! This flabby skin is not suitable for any eyes but mine and then I've even been known to turn away !!! Keep those cruise clothes in the front of your mind until the summer is over and done. Then its on to new fall and winter clothes for you at your new weight.

Cat so glad you are at least at 80% now - I bet 100% is right around the corner. Count me in for the measurements for August and I will do mine on the 30th when we do our next weigh in. I too was happy to hear the health care bill was defeated and that Chump was blind sighted as well. We'll see where it goes from here huh.

Mo it sounds like the evening at the game was really a special moment for you and Betsy. You have to take those times when they are there for you to share together; it just helps to reinforce relationships. So good that you all got to share some good time w/ your old friend as well. Hopefully you will now be able to figure out what direction you are heading in your journey. I'm sure you are going to make it work for you.

NS - please know you a nd your family are deep in my prayers and Cirra I too hope you are doing well. How's your house coming along? Hope to hear an update from you both when you get a chance. I'm sure it's difficult right now.

Ok ladies it's getting dark here now and I need to say good night so I can take my walk.

Terrific Tuesday PLOFers,

We are on the work road trip. I am being mindful until I get back on Sunday when I will re-evaluate my next move on this journey. However, I did mess up on Sunday at the Brewer game, but I was just so happy! We had made it about half- way to Milwaukee on Saturday night when we then slept in a Walmart parking lot. I had my Raisin Bran Sunday morning, but once we got to the game, and I spotted some great looking Carmel corn, I caved. (and in all honesty, I also got a reg. My. Dew) Oh, I almost forgot, I had nachos and water at the bar we ate at before we got shuttled to the game. We had GREAT seats ----Thirteen rows back, just off the batters box along third base line. The weather was awesome, the company was fantastic, and my gal and I were out and about! After the game, we went to my old house which my friend bought from me 14 years ago and played cards and laughed and laughed. We also ordered a pizza, and I had two wine coolers. Sitting on the deck in that backyard, you have no idea you are in a city as you are surrounded by trees towering over a 6' fence. It is so park like.

Monday, I had oatmeal for breakfast and not the make your own waffle! Lunch with my dad, I had a half an order of spinach and artichoke dip, which kept me full all day. The girls and I walked an hour, and then when Bets and I got to the next hotel, which we stay at now for 6 nights, we all walked another 45 minutes. Today, I had my RB for breakfast, and that is it so far. But, I brought chicken for the week, and we plan on having it for dinner.

Cat - yes on the retired police officer. I worked 18.5 with the City of Milwaukee, got my teaching degree, moved out of the city and dabbled in teaching before basically fully retiring last year.
So sorry about your illness. It sure sounds like a whopper of a cold. Boy, what some people will do to lose weight. LOL 🤗

Carol - The rock you painted in honor of Janet is breathtakingly beautiful. I bet your friend will cherish it always. WTG as always on your work-outs. I imaging you could get quite a work-out at those concerts.

DG - You have such a great mind set. I find that I can benefit from it also. Thanks! I love neosporin, but I do find that the one that looks like vasoline works better on scab type injuries and the one that is a white cream works better on fresh cuts. How is it going for Dusky?

Cheryl - I can only imagine there is nothing better than being able to stay in cruise clothes, so keep staying strong.

Gold - I hope your pain will not interfere with your daubing! :). Seriously, I hope the shot continues to work for you, and they find answers for your neck.

NS - Thinking about you, your mom, your aunt and your travels.

Cirra - hope your health is improving.

All for now,
MO

Hello all! Im back among the living and probably operating at about 80%. Back to the office, I spent almost all of the last 4 days in bed, what a cold it was. Still coughing up the residuals, so gross but at least the sore throat and temperature are over tmi I know lol!

Just caught up on everyones activities. Carol, size 6 thats wonderful! DG, thanks for the reminder on measurements, I lapsed on keeping up that thread. Shall we register one the first of August? Mo, we can all relate to the 2 steps forward, one step back part of this journey. Thing is that you are moving forward in a very positive manner and I have no doubt with your activity level and growing mindfulness re nutrition that you will reach your health goals. Gold, I pray the shot will continue to calm that shoulder down and that the taper works - good for you trying to keep your activity level up but do take care. Cheryl, so good to have you back, keep on sporting those cruise clothes and keeping the vacay vibe!

Whew, some of your weather is crazy. Yesterday I saw a report listing 50 U.S. cities in order of most difficult summers to least difficult and Seattle scored #50! We are indeed fortunate to be so temperate in this world whose weather is increasingly more drastic. I do remember growing up in the super hot, humid summers of Michigan but we always had a lake or swimming pool to jump into.

DG, so sorry to hear about little Duskys feet and the pic of baby Zach with your dad is adorable!

Got on the scale this a.m. and was down 2 lbs. Not surprising as I ate only enough to keep me going and drank tons of water and herbal teas. Tonight we have tickets for a Seattle Storms womens basketball game, cant wait but hope I can stay awake that long.

I've been having some serious thoughts about a lifestyle change the past couple months and think I'm close to embarking. Veganism! For many reasons. I don't want to take up any more of your time now but will be throwing in some thoughts and Night, I believe you can give me some great insights.

ciao for now! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Oh, and one more thing - WHOOO HOOO! on defeat of tRump and party's healthcare debacle - the so-called "Better Care Reconciliation" to the proposed "Consumer Freedom Amendment??? wtf with those names anyway.

Gold, all I can say is I'm glad you're seeing a doctor and I hope the swelling goes away. Do you have anyone that can do the vacuuming for you? I just think you need to take a couple of weeks and just rest and get your strength up.

Busy as ever and enjoying our summer weather. It's so nice to be out and about in the morning and not have to put on a bunch of layers. I'm going to enjoy it while I can.

How are you doing Mo? Hang in there.

DG, you are rock-solid and I appreciate everything you do motivating this group.

So awesome Carol that you went shopping for clothes that fit right. For so long now, I just keep wearing the same things over and over. I did have 3 pairs of pants taken in. Maybe I'll set a new goal and go shopping then. Anyway, congrats to you. You look great!

Cat, you probably caught that bug when the weather was flip-flopping from hot to cold a couple of weeks ago. Hope you're feeling better.

Okay PLOF...happy Tuesday! Take care.

Debigene, so sorry about Dusty's little feet. I glad that other things in your healthy living style seem to be going so good.

Carol enjoy the concerts and the 5 days. But keep painting. I love those rocks.

Cat, hope you are feeling better. Is Joe home now?

Cheryl, How if your nephew doing. Is he still practicing his art?

Mo, Keep us informed about how you are working on things. Please don't say to heck with it.

I need to get outside and walk while it is still cool. Hopefully I'll miss the storm that is headed our way. I still don't know what to do about my fitbit. It's a charger 2. Anyone with any ideas.

Aso. yesterday I weighed my self before coffee and I was down 2 pounds. Another reason for my weight gain is that I am swollen. I first noticed it on the left side of my face, it's been there foe over a month, so I finally went to the doctor, and we have tried to rule out serious stuff. Dr says whole face is swollen, just more on left. We think it is from the prednisone so I am on a taper. My feet are also swollen, so hopefully some of this will go away.

Have a great healthy day.

Good Tuesday friends;

Gold I am sorry to hear you are having such pain, I hope the shot helps and the neck issue is nothing serious and goes away soon. How is your hand now? Good for you for walking as much as you can, some is better than none right.

Carol you know we will want to hear all about the concerts, and yes I'm sure you will need time off after those late nights.

It looks like Dusky's feet may be healing but he fights me so when I try to put the Neosporin on them. I think one more day should do it. Breakfast is yogurt with fruit and granola, lunch is cucumbers, tomatoes and sugar snap peas, with a serving of humus and dinner will be cod not the salmon I previously mentioned, with a peach and mango salsa, roasted asparagus and the last of the broccoli salad. I'm all set for my day now. Just gotta go grab Dusky in a towel and put the medicine on.

Wishing you all a Tuesday filled with good healthy choices and as much fitness as you can get in. Stay strong team and be kind to others.

Good morning...

All is good in my world. Oh my....when I gave my friend the rock I painted it was very touching. She cried and cried...i was close to it. She loved it. It won't be in a rock garden outside...its going to be an indoor rock. My next project is a galaxy rock.

Tomorrow...Sir Paul McCartney...can't wait. I'll be off 5 days vacation. Yes...2 concerts in 4 days. I'll need recovery time.

Oops running a bit late. Tonight is gym night! Have a great day all!!

Hi you all,

I had better get back in here more frequently as I am not getting your daily posts automatically. My neck and left shoulder have been hurting a lot to where I can't concentrate on anything but looking straight ahead and not up or down. I had a c-scan that showed a lot of deterioration and arthritis. Today I got a shot in my left shoulder and it appears to be helping. I have to go to a specialist for my neck.

I have been trying to get my walking in, but it seems real hard. Yesterday my daughter and I went out for a walk together and her fitbit stated we had walked well over a thousand steps more than my fitbit showed. That was discouraging. my goal was to get in over 4000 steps per day and then increase that over time. It was to hot for me to walk outside today. So I walked around stores.

Cat I hope you are feeling better. Carol and Linda, I love your rocks. Mo, how is the traveling going? Cheryl, you can do it and stay in your cruise clothes. Debigene, glad you had a nice weekend. I would walk more with my dog, but she's not able to walk much. I miss our three daily walks in TX. Cirra, hope to hear from you soon.

NS, I hope all is going as well as can be expected for you and your family. My prayers are with you and I'm sending you strength.

Very lovely weekend. Some yard work and a retirement party for a friend.

I agree Mo, it's nice to have the constant of SP and PLOF to get us on track as soon as possible, because those blowouts happen.

I'm going to try and get to the gym tonight. I fit into my cruise clothes and want to stay in them.

Oh, Cat. Sorry to hear you're not feeling well. Take care.

Gold, how are you doing?

DG, things sound like you're enjoying your summer and things are as good as ever. Glad you're getting walking in.

Sounds like everything is right in your world too, Carol.

Cirra, NS, looking for an update when you can.

Yes to a healthy week. I'm in. emoticon emoticon

Good morning and a Happy Healthy start to the week to you my friends;

Carol I loved your rock, what a special gift it is.

Our temps are high here as well as the humidity that comes with it. I won't let it ruin my mood because it was lifted this morning when I saw a drop in the scale by 1/2 a pound from yesterday's weigh in. I will keep my post the same tho' . I'm prepped and ready for a healthy week ahead !!!
Enjoyed the day with family here at our house yesterday for a cook out and I did very well with lots of veggies and fruit and a turkey burger.

Ok time is clicking away this morning so need to move along here. Sending good vibes to all for a great start to a healthy fit week.

Good Sunday friends; ............ don't forget it's weigh in day !!!!

Yes Carol perseverance is the word, we MUST if we are serious about making changes and living healthier lives to enjoy our future. Thanks for those words of wisdom. Your day at the gardens sound so nice. Enjoy your restful painting day today.

Mo good to hear you are back on track - does that mean a new plan or back to the 6 week challenge you designed for yourself ? In a previous post it sounded like you didn't think that was working too well? Just find something that does work for you hon, it may take a few trys before you find it. Just be patient and persevere !!!! Hope your trip went well and you enjoy this day with friends.

Cat - so sorry you are still fighting the crud. It has to take it's own course, just rest hon it's usually the best medicine. Feel better soon.

I had a trip to the grocery store yesterday and got my evening walk in with Mya. That's about all I ended up doing other than giving Dusky me time. Today I may be going down to get my Dad to come up here and spend the day. My great niece Peyton will be here and maybe we will cook something on the grill? It's all up in the air right now until I hear from my brother Rod what their plan is after church. Good thing I'm flexible, lol. I may just end up going to visit Dad at his place or just hanging out here at home, one thing I will need to do is a load of laundry - my work clothes. The scale was not so kind to me but I do think I see a small difference in the fitting of my clothes ????? Could just be wishful thinking too.

So wishing everyone a good day making good choices and having some fun if possible.

Good morning ladies....

Heading to gym this morning with my sister.

Cat...sorry you are not feeling well. There is nothing worse than a summer cold. Sounds like you have everything under control and have taken good steps to get it under control. Get well soon.

Linda and I had a wonderful time at Botanica yesterday. We stumbled upon a special Flowers of the Prairie show there. It was great...its celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Chisolm trail. Very interesting and informative to say the least.

Today my plans after workout is to stay in and stay cool. I'm working on a special rock painting for a friend of mine who's sister passed a few months ago from breast cancer. She was teasing me that I needed to paint her a rock. Unbeknownst to her I am well underway with her painting and I hope it conveys the sentiment i intend. We will see.

Have a great day ladies...persevere! You know this is all self talk. 7 lbs to goal and having to work work work to get there!

Hello all. Carol congrats on your new, smaller size. You've worked so hard. Mo, I have to kind of laugh when I hear all the things you get done. It reminds me of Maureen. So, you are a retired police officer?

I'm still battling this crud. A little better today but coughing with a sore throat sucks. I've been gargling with echinacea tea, drinking lots of fluids and eating fruits that are soothing. Hope it's all done by Monday. Have a great rest of your Saturday.

It is Saturday PLOFers!

First, let me say ....Thank Goodness for this group, or after last weeks slide I probably would not be back on track ready to buckle down again. It is a bit of a struggle to get back on track, but I am doing it. Yesterday, my first day back, my calories were good, but I would have liked more protein in my day. It is only 10 am, but I have already faced temptation and made the good decision. Wow! It sure can be easy to fall back into old patterns.

I have a busy day ahead. I took Bets into work at 830, and I will pick her back up at 630. Then, once we are all packed, we will hit the road tonight and go about 3 of the 5 hours to Milwaukee. Betsy starts her week long road work trip on Monday in Racine. However, we are going to the Brewer's Game tomorrow, with my old squad partner and her GF. My old squad partner lived across the street from me in Milwaukee, and then bought my house when we moved. When we worked together, citizens always thought we were twins!

I have a faucet to finish fixing, batteries to re-install in the van/rv, work on the trailer to do, straighten up the house, wash 3 loads, pack for the week - FOOD and clothes, chicken to cook on the grill, and ??????

Well, hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable weekend!

Happy Saturday friends;

Karen had to cancel our hang out today so I will make use of the day getting my oil changed and then a grocery trip. I need to have my essentials in for the week ahead. That's all I have going on today but it could change, you never know.

Carol BRAVO to you for a new size in your clothing. I think I'll do my measurements tomorrow and see if they have changed since my last take. I feel like I've been making progress. Enjoy your day at the gardens.

Ladies hope you all are looking forward to a weekend of something enjoyable and healthy.

Good morning...

We are up early and headed to Botanica. It actually rained yesterday morning so we did indoor walking (shopping) emoticon I just had to buy some new clothes and a belt...great feeling when everything is too big! I was happy...size 6 on new capris and a new pair of workout shoes of course. Remember ladies...its not all about the lbs. Muscle weighs more than fat so loss of inches is good too. Do that strength training!

I'm enjoying the rock painting. I've started a new mandala and I'm doing a little lady bug for someone. People are actually asking me to paint them rocks...go figure. I really love the rock painting...very therapeutic!

Have a great weekend all.

Hi ya'll

I had a nice day at work; got a lift from the garage over to the entrance this morning. The heat and humidity this morning made me grateful for the offer. Made up that 6 minute walk by taking my break taking some paperwork up to the second floor. Made good food choices and had another NOURISH salad for dinner, delish !!! So far no rain to speak of here, but I think it's all around us

Carol I thought you must have had the day off cause I happened to notice the time your post was. Good for you and Linda having a nice day out together. I too pin'd the team bonus points to my favs, just have to try and remember it every day.

Well seems like there's a pool party out in my yard and I do believe the new baby Zachary is upstairs so I'm going up for a visit. I've already started my Friday Happy Hour !!!

Enjoy your evening to friends.

Good morning....

Hello from the comfort of my living room. There wasnt much going on at work today so I just went ahead and took the day off.We are technically still on shut down so it was just a skeleton crew. Linda and I are going to the botanical gardens and then shopping.

Finally figured out the bonus point thing. You can get to it from my trackers...community...team bonus spins. I saved it to favorites.

The rock paintings...just therapy for my anxiety. I have had some requests now so I'm doing a mandala for someone, a ladybug for someone. I just give them away to people who I think would enjoy them. I keep the ones I want to keep. It's fun!! Cat ...my inspiration is the rock...i look at it and see something!

Not sure about the weigh in this week...i weigh the same today as I did 2 weeks ago. I'm hoping for a loss by Sunday!

Have a great day!

Good Evening Plofers!

Ahhhhhhhh........9pm, and just settling in at home from my trip to MN.

Here is a re-cap of my trip. Betsy worked 41.5 hours over the past three days, so there was no way I could leave the girls at home. The girls and I traveled in the van/rv, which is apparently having a coach battery issue. The batteries in the rv/van and a leaking water faucet at the property are tops on my to-do list tomorrow. Because of the coach battery issue, I cannot leave the girls in the van when the temps are warm as the electricity is not dependable at this time.

On Tuesday, I was so disappointed when I got up, and I realized that I was out of milk. I had to run a couple errands before heading to MN, so I added a stop for milk. I was then able to have my cereal. Then, I drove right to a new SP friend named Kathy. I towed the enclosed trailer with us, so Kathy could see what I wanted her help with inside the trailer. The girls were able to hang out in Kathy's A/C kitchen while I worked on organizing and inventorying the trailer. Kathy started working on the projects I had for her which involve sewing. I will post some pics after it is all done. I am super pumped by this one item specifically that is symbolic of us. It will be such a cool surprise for Betsy as she does not know what I have Kathy doing as getting the trailer done was my project.

I had told Kathy that I was eating certain food, and would bring lunch for her and I. At Kathy's we had chicken and potatoes.

I got over to the casino around 930 pm as I had to spend the days "free money" by 11. I was able to turn it into $350 (Do not get too excited as I gave it back the next day.)

It seemed like for the past week that I had been flooded with visions of ice cream ----including some 100 calorie ice cream advertisement on SP. I was also reminiscing about how good the spinach and artichoke dip that Gold and I shared a couple weeks ago was. So, at around 1130pm, I had a chocolate malt and an appetizer of spinach and artichoke dip. I was okay with my decision as I had been questioning my 6-week challenge, and I was feeling like my body needed something different. The reason I was questioning the challenge was because I was losing weight before this strict challenge, but it was just my horrible nutrition that I wanted to focus on. I began to be concerned that the 6-week challenge was too much like a restriction diet. I feared that once the 6-week restriction diet/challenge ended that I would run the risk of going nuts with all the food that I had not been eating. I also did not like that my challenge did not allow for me to substitute one good item for another. So, I am in a revision starting tomorrow.

On Wednesday, I again started off well. I had my cereal and headed over to Kathy's. We again worked on stuff for the trailer and had chicken and potatoes for lunch. When we made a run over to Menard's for materials, I bought and drank a 16 oz Mountain Dew. I was so hot and sweaty, and I thought it would help me feel refreshed ---like in the commercials. Unfortunately, I had to cancel with Gold as it would have been way to hot for the girls in the van at 5pm when we were suppose to meet. Betsy will be able to handle the girls in 2 weeks, so Gold and I were able to reschedule. Since Gold and I were unable to meet, I kept working on the trailer until I needed to leave to get to the casino by 8pm to receive a gift of two Yeti Tumblers that I needed to claim by 8pm. I then proceeded to lose the previous days winning. Now is where I feel I fell off the wagon. I eased my sorrow with another trip to the Minnehaha Caf for another round of malt and dip. I followed this up with a nice long walk with the girls. I was still a bit wound up, so I got a frozen margarita. I was also so extremely sore from the trailer work.

Luckily, as far as the girls in the van go, the weather had taken a turn on Thursday with cloudy skies and temps in the 60's. I finally hit the road around 10 am after picking up a piece of my favorite banana bread. I was so tired and sore that I again thought that second can of Mountain dew that I purchased since the price was a 2 for price and was now sitting in the van refridge would keep me awake and feeling young just like in the commercials. I made it about half way home, pulled into a rest stop, and within 5 minutes fell asleep on the bed. Luckily, Betsy called me, which woke me up. Not in time to get all the way to her work, but in time to rendezvous with her from a gas station to go to her doctor appointment with her. All is well, Betsy just needed to have a well baby check at the dermatologist. All is well, and she is still skin cancer free.

Not that I am not already in trouble with my eating, but now it continues because of course we both wanted to go out to eat in celebration of having some time together. So we went to Red Robin where I knew I could get a free malt. So, yes, I again had a malt, but this time with an order of nachos. Next, we hit up a couple stores, and I picked up a chocolate bar. I only ate half of it, but when my mind was thinking correctly and I was eating well and aware of being hungry verses cravings I would not have had any of it as I was full.

I did the best I could to track my food the past three days. My calories were between 2500 and 3500 each day as opposed to the 1500 that I had been eating. It is obvious to me how if this type of eating were to continue that I would not be able to lose weight. Tomorrow, I get back into being reasonable. I just hope that I can rein it back in------immediately------ as I cannot afford to nor do I want to lose ground.

Wish me luck on getting back on track.

Hi ya'll;

Cat I hope you can shake whatever you got going on so as not to ruin your weekend. Get plenty of rest tonight and tomorrow. I know you are looking forward to Joe's visit and hope he has plenty of time for you too.

Cheryl, I can def understand your desire to get back to routine. I always feel the same way too. Hope you can swing right back into gear now. BTW, where was Terri? I thought she went on the cruise with you ????

I had a good food day and stayed on track dinner was another salad but this time it was a Nourish Bowl that I got on sale at the super market to give a try. This had broccoli, kolarabi, snap peas, carrots, cabbage and a sesame siracha sauce to go on top. I added deiced up chicken and a TBSP of crumble blue cheese. The salad was warmed in the micro-wave and then I added the cheese. It really was a nice switch from the normal cold salad and only 320 calories without the chicken and cheese added. I would buy it again for a quick already made meal. And it was indeed plenty big enough.
Temps really are rough here so glad times like this for the A/C. I still plan on getting my walk in later @ 9. Got 20 mins in at work, will see what I can do tonight depending on the temps.

Ok team that's about it from me so wish you all a pleasant evening. till soon friends.

Hi everyone!

I'm in transition from vacation/company/and Terri getting back and settling in. Haven't settled in yet. Spent yesterday in shorts and sunglasses on the outdoor patio at the local golf course soaking up the sun with Terri and Anthony drinking cocktails (2) and sharing appetizers (1 ea) after we dropped my mom off at the airport.

Anxious to get back to my routine. I think this weekend, when we can do some grocery shopping, will get us back on our regular nutrition and exercise.

Good Thursday to all my PLOF friends;

Not much except the heat happening here since last night. Temps are high already and they are warning people to just stay in.

I'm prepared for a healthy food day but not the walk from the garage, but it has to be done. Tonight's walk will be after the sun is set and later in the evening.

Carol I saw the river rock you painted on FB - BEAUTIFUL !!! You have a real talent hon.

Ok ladies need to get my rear in gear for this hot hot day ahead. Stay positive, stay focused on your goal and make it happen.

Good morning....

I don't have time to go through the fitbit sync right now but I'll try to get it posted later. I have no issues with mine You do have to go through the steps to add a device and when you sync the fitbit have to be near your phone or computer.

Hi everybody...i still haven't gotten to the link for team points. Sorry..I'll get it together this weekend...maybe.

I'm getting too involved in the rock painting right now. I love It.. So therapeutic . I'm working on a mandela right now. It's a lot more involved than anything I've done...but I hope to complete it this weekend!

Have a great day...stay cool!!

Hi ya'll,

I was not able to get my walk in this morning as I had to valet park. I needed to be at work by 9:30 and I was running a little behind, 10 mins late. But at least I can still get my walk in tonight after the temps drop a bit. Tomorrow we may hit 100* - YIKES !!! My dentist apt was cancelled till August as my hygienist went home sick. No problem I was kinda glad since it would have gotten me home later than normal and I had already left Dusky earlier this morning. Good food choices today and stayed within portions too. Had a delish spinach salad for dinner tonight.

Gold would one of those wedge pillows help ? My Dad uses one of those as does y SIL. Enjoy your time with Mo again and I hope you both win BIG !!!! emoticon

Cat thanks for those positive thoughts. I'll keep you all posted when I hear something. The time will go by quick and Joe will be here before you know it. Will you pick him up at the airport or will he rent a car? I live so close to the airport that I enjoy taking people and picking them up.

Well that's about all I have to share tonight so will just wish everyone a pleasant evening and a good night's sleep.

till soon ............

Gold I just saw you added the comment about the meet up being rescheduled, darn for both of you. Well gives you time to save up more spending money huh !!!! Can't help you a bit on the Fit Bit but I'm sure Carol can !!!!

I can't figure out how to record my steps on SP. Yesterday I walked 6148 steps but I get discouraged when i can't RECORD IT HERE. I have not been able to record my steps since SP dropped the Spark tracker. My daughter got me a fitbit but I can't get it to sync with SP.

Any suggestion?

Hello lovely team emoticon

Gold, sorry to hear about your bed. I suppose its no longer under warranty - would a foam bolster of some type help? Have fun with Mo!!

I wondered where the team bonus points was! It was so easy on the home page. DG, keeping positive thoughts coming your way re job possibility with benefits! Carol, Im jealous re your garden. I sure miss having homegrown tomatoes and greens at my fingertips. Enjoy, and keep cool!

Its in the mid 70s here and breezy. We havent had rain in 23 days yay!! Starting to get real excited about Joes return on August 3. Only 3 weeks from tomorrow!

Got 5000 steps on my ped yesterday. Not impressive but I figure if it takes me work to get there Im doing better than before. After a couple of weeks Ill up it another 1000. Sure hope this weeks weigh in is good, Ive had a couple slips with the sugar.

Have a groovy evening. emoticon emoticon

Good Morning. Today is the day I meet up with Mo again. Looking forward to it. MO, I MAY BE LATE, MY DAUGHTER IS PICKING ME UP. HERE IS MY PHONE NUMBER 612-226-2202.

I'm upset, my four year old sleep number bed is not working. It will not go up and down. I need it to raise my head up so I can breath better while sleeping.

Good HUMP Day friends;

As you can see I posted the link above Carol - it is NOT on the START page like it use to be so I just added it to my favs to have it handy. Hard trying to remember it tho. Only 1 team point today from me. Your garden sounds massive and very productive as well. I bet you' saving lots of $$$. Good for you.

I have not been able to make the walk UP the ramps in the garage in the evening when I leave work, I think right now it's because the heat gets to me from the walk TO the garage. I'm ramping up my evening walks just a little to help compensate. I'm thinking by the time I can make it up the ramps I may have a good handle on my evening additional steps as well. My food choices and portions have been on target and I am hoping to see good results on Sunday.

Ok gotta run going into work early and then my dentist cleaning apt at 6pm.

Have a WONDERFUL HEALTHY Wednesday friends. TTFN

Good morning ladies...

Where is the link on the home page for the bonus points. I'm not seeing it. I use the desktop version of Sparks on my phone.

I am totally enjoying the fresh produce from my gardens....cukes, onions, lettuce, and lots of tomatoes. We have other things going...spaghetti squash, watermelons, carrots, and beets.

Work is okay..short days but boring. Its nice going to the gym earlier in the day. It's less crowded and I'm home at a decent hour. Next week will be overtime again!!

I'm thinking I'm ready for the weigh in this Sunday. I know the final stretch to my 130 lb goal will be difficult. I'm going to have to work my butt off for every ounce. I can do it!

Have a great day...stay cool. It's very hot here...102 degrees yesterday. I hate the heat..I'm ready for Fall!

Hi there PLOFer's

Glad to be home from another busy day at work. Got a hint today on a FT job right here at the hospital, that may be available in the fall so something for me to consider looking into for the benefits. I made all good choices for foods at LUNCH today, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, humus, grapes, blueberries and a yogurt. BREAKFAST was my usual cold cereal with banana blueberries and skim. DINNER is 2 small lamb chops marinated and seasoned into the broiler, roasted broccoli-rabe and cauliflower tots. Also got some extra steps in (about 5 more mins). Will take my evening walk after 8 tonight, hope the weather holds out.

I'm making good strides at improving so all is good on my end.

Cat excellent info shared with Mo. We are such a good team !!!

Wishing you all a good evening. That's all for now friends.

Terrific Tuesday all,

I do love your morning motivations DG! Cheryl, glad to hear you had some alone time with your mom.

Mo, for cereals you might want to check out my fave cereal Grapenuts high fiber and no added sugar - love it topped with blueberries or strawberries, or a new one I found called Uncle Sams cereal. Just make sure you get all your daily water in when consuming a lot of fiber so as not to cause, ahem, backups! I have a tough time getting in all the protein as well since I dont eat a lot of meat. Finally decided on some days when I need it to add whey protein powder in smoothies, etc which has about 30 grams!!! Also beans, eggs, plain yogurt. That brownberry bread is tasty. Flaxseed is good in many ways, also chia, and flax meal. One thing Ive been reading about is low carb diet. I did it for 2 weeks and lost more than I usually could, but at week 3 I crashed, my energy was so low. So Im adding a bit more but just a little. The thing about the low carb way of eating is they encourage you to have more healthy fats to make up the lost calories. Im also finding if I stick to my regime but allow myself one cheating day a week (slightly higher calories, a bit of fried food) it seems to kickstart my losses. Im still avoiding refined sugar though as I cant afford that slippery slope! Also, eating whole fruit vs juice is much better calorie and fiber-wise. Im really impressed how much youre learning and the research youve been doing. Keep up the great work and sharing it with us!

I found a free app to upload to my phone (called Pacer Health) that has a pedometer so I started using that yesterday. I just have to remember to keep my phone on me at all times. I havent counted steps since the knee surgery so looking forward to getting that back on track. DG, you motivated me with your evening walks so I started that last night. My goal is to get one in 4-5 days per week.

The weekend was fun. Kept active and to my calories. Yesterday a Japanese co-worker invited me to try out a sushi bar and grill in our neighborhood for dinner and it was excellent!! So fresh and such a nice place. It wasnt inexpensive and she treated so it was my lucky day! Its pretty healthy if you dont have much rice but we did splurge on a mochi each for dessert.

K. Continue to have a good one all. emoticon emoticon emoticon
