Hey there friends;

You know I just can't stay away !!! Will start slow, like every other day maybe, LOL !!!

Cheryl bravo for getting to the gym hon, burn those calories girl but be careful with the ankle.

Cat I hope you get done what you need to do to enjoy your long weekend. Have fun !!! Where are you going again ?

MO sounds like it might be time to have a dr take a look just to be sure it's nothing serious ???

Carol, I had to chuckle a little with your post about the Fitbit, I feel your pain. Did you reset your SP to sync it to Fitbit again? I have to got to my fitness tracker and the over to Fitbit to sync it every night but hey it is what it is. Maybe there's a shorter way to do it but I haven't found it yet, LOL. Thank goodness we can add it manually tho right.

I had a good food day until I added the bag of baked chips and ate the whole thing it was a 2 serving bag but still, I didn't need them. It was def an emotional eat.

Will anyone be watching the return of Will and Grace next Thursday on NBC at 9 ??? I surely will and can't wait. I will just have to record SCANDAL. I always loved W&G can am really looking forward to it.

Ok ladies time to get my walk on. Sleep well.

Good evening...

DG....guess what I realized today. My fit bit has not been synching to Sparkpeople since July! I didn't get any fitness minutes for August and 3 weeks in September. It's been synching to my fit bit and to my phone. Hmm..I've done 2,000 minutes every month. Oh well...i did the fitness it just didn't log!!

I thought you would find that funny since I was trying to help you get your fitbit working!!

Good afternoon PLOFers!

I have totally stayed off my foot today in hopes of getting on the treadmill when Betsy gets home. I was doing a lot of flexing of my ankle, and I heard and felt a large clunk in my knee. My ankle then felt better. Betsy thinks that my ligaments have a tendency to get out of place, so I wonder if that was the cause????

Carol - I wonder if the trampoline video was fake?? Seems so unrealistic.

DG - glad you got some good rest. So important.

Cheryl - WTG on getting to the gym.

Cat - I know that I always look forward to seeing that you have made a post! :)

All for now,
MO

Finally, Thursday! And it's true I'm thankful for many things and that keeps me going for the most part.

As a Cancer and an introvert, I've learned over time that I like solutions to problems. With Trump in office it's just one thing after another and I'm so overwhelmed. Plus, I don't get the feeling that he is making ALL of America great again. I think he is taking the worst part and giving them an awful, loud, angry "free speech" platform. So I'm kind of sullen these days which is quite the opposite of my usual Pollyanna way of living.

But, I too, love PLOF and the support that's offered here. I try to stay connected because I'm so grateful for all that you all do to make this a great community.

Guess what? I got to the gym last night and burned 200 calories. Got on the bike and treadmill. Tonight when I go, I'll do the elliptical. Testing the waters where my ankle's concerned.

Cat, DG, Carol, Mo, Gold, NG, Cirra and all of PLOF, have a great day and get that water in. emoticon

Good Thursday morning friends, I am so thankful for all you wonderful ladies in my life.

Last night I was sooooo tired I didn't have the energy to take a walk and was in bed by 10 and sleeping within minutes. Got up at 7 this morning. I feel much better this morning. Our temps here are in the high 80s and will be thru the weekend, maybe that has something to do with it ??? I am ready for a good healthy day got my lunchables in order this morning and a yogurt parfait is for breakfast. Dinner will probably be a nice salad and a piece of WG naan.

Cheryl I too agree with your comments on the admin but I think he will ruin himself. Looks like Mueller is really looking into things. Praying for an outcome that is positive for our country. I am trying hard to limit my news viewing as well.

Cat I know what you mean about our members who used to come by regularly and miss them too. Hope they decide to pop in occasionally to touch base. good job with your weight drop, keep doing what is working for you.

Mo I applaud your will power with the pudding and the extra steps you took to put it back. Have you tried any veggies yet? Glad you gave your foot some rest time, stay mindful so it heals. I too have old big clothes that I use around the house, or my evening walks.

Ladies I will try to pop in tonight it may be late but I will try.

Have a great day today, stay mindful of what you put in your body and how you move it, stay hydrated with lots of water and of course be kind to everyone you meet. TTYS

Good morning....

Mol...i watched the video and that was amazing to me. A high wind brought me a neighbors trampoline a few years back . Unfortunately it crashed into my brand new privacy fence and destroyed a whole section. The trampoline was crushed like a piece of tin foil.

My table was fine ....the umbrella was pulled straight up I guess and the table wasn't even tipped over.

I got my lawn mowed last night and tonight it's gym night.

Mol...I also get the clothes thing...I'm wearing clothes way to big for me. I just bought 3 pairs of size 6 jeans which I currently am but most of my clothes in my closet are size 12. I cinch them up with a belt. I gotta get some winter clothes...yikes.

Have a good day all!

Good evening PLOFers!

DG - I am missing your nighttime post already, but you do what you need to for success.

Carol - Did you see the video where a trampoline is perfectly blown into a yard by a hurricane?

Cheryl - I like talk radio programs, but I find them hard to find during all hours of the day and night. Sounds like you found a good one, and had an "on track" day planned.

Cat - "good long time to re- calibrate" ----- you got that right. I can tell there are changes, but they occur so, so slowly but at least they DO occur. I, too, have greatly decreased my news involvement. Hopefully, it will be over in just a few short, LONG years. WTG on dropping another pound. Sounds like you are taking a number of positive steps - Good Job!
"Dudettes". Very cute - I like it! I also like how you incorporate so many emoticons!

Well, I did not make any real physical gains today, but I do feel that I made some emotional gains. My foot is about 60% better, but I decided another day of rest was needed. We did not get home until 630, and I had quite an upset tummy, which I firmly believe was from drinking too much soda today. I had been doing a great job of little to no soda, and shockingly I rarely have any stomache issues anymore. I feel that I may have made emotional gains because I did a lot of internal discourse with myself. We will see what comes of it. I know that for starters it caused me to walk from the back of a store to the front of a store with a container of pudding only to walk back to the back of the store and put it back. Also, I was within my calories, and I have done no snacking tonight.
Here is a curious realization that I have had.........The jean shorts that I have been wearing are VERY loose, and they can come off without unzipping. They are actually uncomfortable because of their looseness. However, I seem to be refusing to try a smaller pair on because I do not want them to be too small. Is that weird?

I am strongly looking forward to continuing this journey--- as Imperfect as it will be.

All for now.
Good night all PLOFers!!!
Take Care,
MO

DG way to go on meeting your goals and getting the Fitbit back on line. What a relief that Duskys scabs are all healed. Mo, I can certainly relate to your thoughts on reaching a new low weight and then sabotaging it. I wonder if we think we deserve the reward of eating those foods that add the weight back on. It takes a good long time to re-calibrate ones thinking about high calorie, comfort type foods. You remind me of Maureen always busy and physically active with manual labor. Take care of those tootsies.

Cheryl I feel much the same about the admin and 2 weeks ago I great reduced my exposure to the news. It was just making me agitated and depressed. The good thing is that the crazy stuff he proposes doesnt come to fruition and then he waffles on his determination. Interesting radio program Im so happy Im finally out of the dating world.

I really appreciate the time that our team spends here sharing, no matter when or how much. I am very attached to you all and do get a bit concerned when we dont hear from faithful members for a long time - but that is life. Im trying to be better at logging in on the weekends but I dont usually turn on my computer at home and typing on my phone is a pain. So mostly I do it from work during breaks.

Was down a pound this morning. Between walking on my lunch hour and mostly avoiding sweets that should keep me on a downward trend. I also took a big hit financially while Joe was here so no trips to the coffee bar for lattes or maple bars lol. I was also thinking that the senior exercise program I'm doing regularly might be building more muscle which supposedly weighs more. I know Im feeling less usual soreness overall and a bit more flexibility already.

Breakfast, one scrambled egg, one crispy bacon, and hashbrowns with coffee. Lunch, chicken and rice soup, apple, sourdough bread with PB, snack-yogurt, dinner not sure yet. Early to sleep def curbed my nighttime snacking yesterday. Its a win win getting more sleep.

Later dudettes! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

DG, I think my mood swing is continuing to be a reflection of how disappointed I am with the turn of the tide since our new administration took over. I'm trying to be positive and hopeful - it comes in short bursts.

I couldn't sleep last night and it was making me crazy. I finally moved to the couch which is a little cooler and took a PM pill at 12:30 which I don't like to take that late. Fortunately, I was able to wake up and get to work on time. Only I thought it was Thursday. I haven't lost a day like that in a long time. Got in the car and my radio program was airing a program they do on Mon/Wed/Fri and I figured it out pretty quickly. Program is Second Date Update and people call in to the radio station and then the radio station calls the person "who isn't calling them back" to find out what went wrong on the date.

I have my breakfast and lunch packed from home so I should be on track today.

Walking with my SP Buddy BlessedBeing on Saturday if it's not raining. She wants to take me to lunch for watching her sweet Dora when she went out of town. emoticon

Wishes to everyone for a great day.

Happy HUMP Day friends ..... is that the weekend I see ahead, YAY !!!

Carol I remember once a wind came up and pulled my nextdoor neighbor's umbrella out of the table and took the glass top with it, what a danger but all was well. Hope yours is not damaged and still useable. Glad your weather has improved too.

MO - thanks for asking Dusky is back to his usual demanding my attention self now, another reason I need to have more time in the evening. I do not want him or I to go thru whatever that was he had going on again !! I hope you don't have any repercussions on your previous joint issues from all this hard labor you are working on. Hope it's done soon. I can't say a thing about inexpensive shoes on bad feet as I am the same as I have previous ankle injuries give me problems. If I could afford better shoes I would buy good ones tho. Hope you have a good day out today.

Ok I hear Dusky calling so need to get a move on here. Let's all make today as healthy as possible, you know what needs to be done to make that happen. LETS DO IT TEAM !!!

Good morning all....

DG...i totally understand cutting out a post. I have always had to be here minimally. Work, family, fitness....etc. has to come first for me. There is not enough time in the day.

Linda and I dined in the living and very much enjoyed it. It was so hot and windy! Good grief...we had to go look for our patio umbrella...it blew out of the patio table. It was still in our yard...thank goodness for the privacy fence!

Today is cooler and I'm going to run the lawn mower over part of the yard. This probably will be the last time. Most of the yard is pretty dead!

Have a great day!

Good evening PLOFers!

DG - For selfish reasons, I would/ will definitely miss your posts. However, you are going so strong right now, it is so important that you put your health goal first. By the way, is Dusky totally recovered?

Carol - I am sure you two would enjoy your picnic anywhere!

Cheryl - It can be so hard to figure out why we are feeling drained and tired sometimes. I wish you the best on working through your situation.

Cat - Enjoyed hearing your menu! I find it so interesting the things you all eat.

Well, I will post pics tomorrow of my project. I got a great nights sleep last night. However, within minutes of getting up I was using a sledge hammer as I was on a tight time limit. Having had arthritis removed at 40 from my right shoulder and carpal tunnel on both wrists around 40 along with a shoulder injection a year ago, all I could think of as I was working is that it is a good thing my parents aren't relying on me anymore for their firewood! My skills have sadly depreciated with the ole rock. I needed to pick up Betsy at work by 230 to take her to an eye appointment an hour+ from home. Afterwards, we stopped at the grocery store, and I must say that I did an awesome job of not buying items that I knew I would over eat and/ or that were not good - healthy - choices. It seemed easier than times in the past. .?? What is a little crazy about this is that yesterday I had a new low weight, and it --- like it has so often in the past --- seemed to cause me to binge. Luckily, I think because of how much (little) I have been eating for so long, by the time I got to my high calorie range I could not bare to eat anymore. SP and messaging with you all caused me to really become aware of this trend of "messing up" when my weight goes down. We did not walk when we finally got home. My foot feels bruised, and I want it to get better. I will make the time up soon. I think that my problem is that I do not like to wear "good" shoes when working outside. I wear my shoes out on the bottom way before they look bad, so I am bad about getting rid of them. I have always been hard on my shoes.
Tomorrow I need to go to town (45min) and run errands, lunch with a friend, and back home to pick up the girls and take them to the vet for shots.

Gold/NS/anyone else - if you are there - I hope all is well.

Have a safe night,
MO

Hello ladies,

Well I finally got the Fitbit to sync after trying all night last night and all this morning and even when I got home. I just logged off and back in, seemed to do the trick. Hope I remember if I have issues again. It's charging now so hope its ready when I go for my walk. Hit my goal again last night !!!

Cat, I too had a hard time falling to sleep last night. I will not tell you the ingredients of scrapple either. Some say it's an acquired taste, I've eaten it all my life but much more rarely these days. We had to put the air back on here it's been so hot and muggy. Looking for a little fall relief to settle in soon. Certainly makes evening walks nicer.

Cheryl do you know why you are feeling down in the dumps lately? I hope you can kick it soon hon. Are you getting enough exercise in? I know you were really into it there for a while maybe that's has something to do with it ???

Carol I think the living room picnic sounds just as romantic .... make it so !!!

Ladies I am thinking of cutting back my twice a day posts as I just don't seem to have enough time for things I need before bed. I of course will start my day with SP and get here in the evenings when I can. I will probably miss it too much and will get back to routine soon. Right now I am just really trying hard to keep my momentum going with my walking that's the main reason. I hope you understand.

Ok food choices have been good today and as soon as I put Dusky to bed I will head out for my walk. If my charger is not ready I will just log the minutes manually. Enjoy your evening and sleep well ladies.

Its Terrific Tuesday! Lets think positive and be grateful for the bounty in our lives.

DG, Im scared to ask what scrapple is lol! Carol, what a romantic evening and how nice you have a lake to sit by in nice weather. Happy Birthday to Linda!!

Weve def cooled off with rain on and off last night I have a sweater and a lightweight down blazer on and its just right. I cant believe how dark it is already in the early evening. Mo, looking forward to the picture of your project.

Nothing else to report unless you want to hear my food again for the day. Breakfast, coffee and a small jam filled pastry a co-worker baked. Maureen drove me in and provided me with a homemade egg salad sandwich, chips, and an apple. How kind of the universe to provide me homemade food today! Dinner is chicken soup and a salad. Hope to get to bed early, I couldnt fall asleep last night until after 2 so less than 5 hours shut-eye. Not used to the sound of the rain yet and had a call from Joe around 12:30 hes doing great! Yawnnn

Good evening PLOFers!

DG - so sorry your morning was so frustrating.

I am so spent that I think I could go to sleep now and sleep through the night, but I am going to try and stay up a bit. I got poor sleep last night, and seemed to have beat myself up working on a project. I did not think that I did that much more than last week's tree work, but am I feeling it. Maybe it is the work on top of the lack of sleep. The bottom of my feet hurt also, so I am going to skip my walk. Luckily, I have a spare 30 minutes in the bank! I hope to finish the project tomorrow, and if I do I will post a pic.

All for now------

Hello and good evening friends;

Oh I hope I can get this posted tonight. I don't know what happened this morning but I didn't like it at all. I've totally forgotten what I wanted to say too. I started out over sleeping and so was already running a little late and the posting problem just made matters worse.

I was able to get a total of 20 minutes walking in at work this morning so that was good and I will aim to reach my goal tonight with my evening walk.
I had very good healthy food choices for work today as I prepared it last night. Cold cereal was my quick breakfast of choice and a nice dinner sized salad topped with a heap of seafood salad .

Cat I have faith that you can drop those numbers by Sunday's weigh in, I've seen you do it before !!! You got this. Your lunch choices sounds a lot like mine minus the soup. Glad to hear you are breathing better air today.

Well team I need to move on it's getting darker and I need to get my evening walk in soon. Hope everyone gets a chance to pop in soon as well. Have a good evening friends.

Mo, that sounds like a fun, healthy, and relaxing weekend. Its funny to hear smoking lounge as WA state outlawed smoking inside any restaurants/bars years ago. Nice score at the thrift store DG!!

We FINALLY had some rain yesterday. Havent heard if it helped in the fire areas but the air here is much sweeter. Yesterday went to the Everett farmers market, the Schack glass blowing museum in Everett and then out for Thai food with the Peeps Marcy, Victoria, Seiko, with Maureen the newest member of our little social club. Fun was had by all. I got some nectarines and apples at the FM and held my spending to that.

Scale was shocking this morning, up 2 lbs. over my already high level - highest Ive been in a long, long time. Didnt splurge this weekend so not sure what happened. Maybe salt in the Thai food? Todays menu was oatmeal, nectarine and coffee for breakfast. Lunch is small serving of hummus, crackers, cucumber, baby carrots, avocado with tomato basil soup. Yogurt for snack this afternoon, and vegetarian pasta for dinner with some frozen veggies. Have a good rest of your day all!

Welcome to a new week PLOFers!

I had a great weekend. A friend of ours took us and another friend out to a very nice restaurant Friday night. It was a beautiful 79 degrees at 8 pm, and for some reason we were the only ones taking advantage of outdoor seating with excellent relaxing music playing in the background. After dinner, we went to a bar and played a few games of pool. We are not fans of straight bars, but the place was virtuall empty except for in the smoking lounge.
We slept in Saturday, but once we got going we did an hour on the treadmill and got some tasks done around the house. Sunday's was filled with football, half- hour on the treadmill, and tasks.

Have a super week everyone!

Good morning...

Hope you all had a great weekend. It was cloudy and rainy yesterday morning. We need the rain so I'm not complaining.

I'm in a Fitbit challenge this week so I'm gonna try and get extra steps in. I'm Fit bit friends with some people I don't even know but enjoy the challenges they invite to. It motivates me to do more.

Not much going on here...hope you all have a great week.

Stopping in before bedtime for Dusky and walk time for me.

Had a great day with my new friend from work. We chatted this morning and she listened to my dilemma and we talked thru it and she decided to come to my house. I picked her up at work and we drove to Ellicott City just so she could see how they recovered from the devastating flood a year ago and then we went to the thrift store. OMG I bought a pair of black pants for work and 3 new tops. Spent all of $8 !!!! Will def be going back for a look at the winter items. The store is called PLANET AIDE I've seen donation boxes all around and wondered where it was going to, now I know. Not sure if it is just a local thing or not ??? They we went to Big Lots and then back to my house for some munchies and chat. She was looking forward to meeting Dusky and loved him. What's not to love I say !!!

So that was my day ladies now I need to eat a little salad before my walk, left over from lunch yesterday. Enjoy your evening and prep for the week ahead if you can.

Good Sunday friends;

Looks like my Fitbit is fully functioning this morning as it should be. Got another day over my 8k step goal yesterday. It makes me smile and proud. Not sure what today will bring my way, I'm tossing around a few ideas that will include steps. The city has the Ravens game going on and that always brings so much traffic downtown so I want to avoid that but a work friend has invited me to dinner but I think I'm gonna have to bail on that one. I have laundry to do and I need a few essentials from the store and I really want to check out that new thrift store. So I'll see how it all plays out.

Cat so sorry to hear about the fires again do take head when out and about. Sounds like you were mindful for your happy hour and did some good shopping at Macy's. No sense in buying clothes for the size if they aren't comfortable I say. Go with what works best and makes you feel good. Those 16 will always be ready when you are, how well I know !!! Reminds me I need new tighties too, LOL !!!

Ok friends my tummy is nudging me, looks like a PB and banana wrap and a blueberry ZERO yogurt.

Have a day full of healthy and active decisions.

Good morning all....

Well said everyone!! I'm glad everyone feels comfortable voicing their opinions afterall...we are all here for the same reason.

The rains finally cleared up yesterday and we were able to go to the Autumn and Art fair. It's a lovely stroll and the artists come from all over the region. We can't afford any of their work but it is fun chatting with them about their artwork and techniques. Loved it.

I'm headed to the gym this morning. I am making my doggies their homemade dog biscuits today. I make them every few months and freeze them. Hey...even my doggies and kitty eat healthy. Besides it's much cheaper to make them myself and they love them.

That's all for me....of course I'm watching football! Have a great day ladies...keep moving!

Happy Saturday lovely team!

Carol and Debigene, your "rambles and rants" are always welcome. You both have had so much success and continue to inspire with your helpful wisdom every day. Did my senior workout, I'm still loving Growing Young Fitness, just the right intensity to get my heart rate up and feel some burn. Every day is a new one so it's not boring.

Had a fun happy hour with the ladies from work. Hard cider and a salad with chicken for me so not too bad. I probably shouldn't drink and then go shopping but I did end up at Macy's. Really did well, they were having a great sale. New pair of jeans that really fit, 3 tops and some new whitey tighties. I don't usually shop retail, mostly thrift stores so it was a treat. My 16 jeans have been choking my waistline so I succumbed to an 18 in case they shrink. XL on the tops. It is what it is.

The smoke is back today, the 3 big fires in WA state are still not contained by any means. No plans for today for M and I, will just go with the flow and not do too much outside.

Good afternoon on this Saturday friends;

Carol I agree with you as well. I know exercise is indeed a must ESPECIALLY as we get older, and we def are. I know mostly because I have no muscle to speak of and lots of flabby skin from my weight loss. Walking will be my main source until I know when to move on to some other form. Who knows maybe it will be a gym at some point for now I am just glad that I am motivated to walk.
I do believe we must all find what works for us but indeed it has to be healthy food items and that included fruits and veggies. Every healthy form of eating and recommendations insist upon including them. It is important to find a way to eat healthy as a lifestyle not just as a purpose to lose weight in my opinion. I'm trying hard to avoid processed foods in my diet and that too is hard because of the convenience of those items. But I'm working on it. One day at a time.

I just got back from the city a with my friend Karen. We went for a 30 minute walk around Ft McHenry and then out for a bite to eat. I had a delicious greek salad with gyro meat on top, salad dressing on the side of course. It will hold me over for the evening with perhaps fruit as a snack later. I have some yummy juicy peaches waiting to be gobbled up.

Ok ladies still time left in the day to enjoy being outside. Hope you are enjoying the weather, ours is great here.

Just a quick note------

Carol - That is a GREAT rant. Thanks!

You are so right about weight versus healthy, and I agree about all the benefits of exercise. I kept thinking about my own rebuttal to some of what I wrote last night. Thanks again for putting it out there.

Good morning ladies....

We were going to the Autumn and Art fair this morning but it is rainy this so we are putting it off until afternoon.

Okay I'm gonna put in my 2 cents worth. Sure you can lose weight without exercise but why does everyone think if you lose weight you are healthy. I know people who weigh 115 lbs and they aren't healthy. There are many, many benefits to exercise...heart health, muscle/joint health, better balance and flexibility....very important as we get older. I believe it even helps your self esteem and mental health. Also...just so you know ....if you lose a substantial amount of weight you will have a lot of loose skin and strength training will help that. Besides exercise boosts your metabolism and you will lose faster.

Granted treadmill doesn't burn many calories...walking outside will actually burn more. I lost 100 lbs walking outdoors as briskly as I could everyday. That's all I did for exercise. I only joined the gym after that first 100lbs because i did not feel comfortable going before. Now..i have to do more physical exetcise to lose but I physically can.

Starvation diets not good. My opinion...you will lose weight on 1,000 calories but you will gain it back quickly when you stop. My Dr. had me eat no less than 1500 calories (healthy foods) and exercise when I started losing. I actually lost a total of 133 lbs. I got down to 117 but I wasn't looking or feeling very healthy so I gained 10lbs back with Dr.s approval and felt and looked wonderful. I'm only 5'1" and a half so that was good for me. As we get older our minimum healthy weight goes up a bit!

That's my rant!!

Have a good weekend!

Hello ladies,

Oh my so glad to be sitting here with a glass of wine and ready to unwind. Thanks to all for the awesome support and encouragement and goodies sent my way. It really means and helps a lot.

Yes seems like everyone is working or at least looking for what works. Do you know that SP can plan your menu for you somewhere on this site? And you don't have to worry as it is planned based on your info provided. Just putting that out there for consideration.

Congrats on your 5 days success Cheryl keep it up.
I do want to share with you that my 1st 2 years of SP journey was just on eating healthy and portioned size meals and was not putting any effort into any exercise and that's when I lost my 100lbs. After I hit that very long plateau and gained almost 12 pounds back is when I started to re-examine what the heck was going on. It was my own self thinking that I could handle splurging more often and that became too often. Cat sent me the SP tracker that really got me moving. So I got to walking and I lost a few pounds and then my tracker died. In June I decided it was time to work harder and incorporate some walking again and have built up and a few weeks back got the Fitbit and it has been such a motivator for me.

I've said this many times before I am in no hurry as this is a lifestyle change for me and it will take a lifetime to live it in a healthy way. It is not something that will end for me. I really don't want it to either. The hardest part has been changing my mindset. But I can honestly say that I think healthy about 80% of the time now. I need to be at least at 90% now. 80% can come when I find a weight that I find right for me. I know that will be somewhere in ONEderland.

WOW I really rambled on there didn't I but thanks for letting me friends.

I need to go get Mya and take a walk. It's pitch black out there now.

TGIF! So much positive energy and good sharing here today.

DG, I am so happy for you and your results. Another proof that it takes focus and lots of perseverance to keep the ball rolling to the point when it starts making a difference. Your focus on your evening walks has changed something for you. You can DEF make it into one-derland at this rate with the end of the year still over 3 months to go. Keep working it girl!!

1000 calories doesn't seem like enough to keep one going. I tried 1250 for a while but was trying to be vegetarian at the same time and got so tired. My bro is back at Weight Watchers and has lost 60 lbs over the past 9 months. It works for him but he really doesn't eat very healthily - mostly frozen dinners but not WW foods. A co-worker is on a medically supervised vegetarian plan and has lost 80 lbs since the beginning of the year. Its all too confusing with all the conflicting advice out there but Im hopeful that upping my exercise as I have this past few weeks plus no sweet treats will get me back into one-derland as well.I would love to get to 175 again in my lifetime and a size 14.

Hope you all have some fun plans this weekend. Im doing an outside patio happy hour with some co-workers in a few the weather is splendid, tomorrow Im asking Maureen to help me put up a room darkening shade in the bedroom and Sunday were going to Everett to meet up with Marcy, Victoria, and Seiko.

Hugs to all the PLOF members out there - stay strong!

Good afternoon PLOFers!

Well, I just spent an hour on the treadmill. I was all set to walk my 30 minutes yesterday when Betsy got home from work at 7 pm, but she ended up on the phone for over an hour AND football was on by the time she got off so there was no getting me off the couch AND she was not interest then either. Therefore, I needed to make that half hour up, hence the hour.

Last night I dreamed about buying a can of Mountain Dew. This morning I took Betsy to work because I need to pick her up as we are headed into town for dinner with friends right from her work. Luckily, the grocery store with the good donuts that I had been avoiding for months closed. It is my routine on Fridays that I take Betsy to work to fill her vehicle and get it washed. OMG..............okay............I am back......As I was getting ready to finish my story, I was trying to think WHY was I desperate enough to go INTO the gas station in my PJ's?? (Gas and wash I could do at the pumps.) and I remembered it was to get Betsy a bag of ice as she likes to put a couple cubes in her morning coffee when I realized I left the ice in the vehicle ----- SEVEN hours ago. Whew.....it actually was in pretty good shape and is now in the freezer.
Okay...so I went into the station and came out with the bag of ice AND for some reason I --- Maybe defiantly??? Also had a can of Dew, a package of Zingers and a package of Hostess Cupcakes which I then drank and ate. My feelings now are actually a feeling of relief and there....I got that out of my system. Weird............Ironically, it was only 200 calories more than my usual RB breakfast. I am not hungry, and I do not plan to eat until we go out for dinner. Unfortunately, the restaurant does not have calorie amounts listed. It is a steak place. Our friend that just sold her house wants to take us out to celebrate the sale and for us helping her with the move.

All for now as the journey continues.

Cheryl,
Just a quick thought about your post:
One thing that has always shocked me is how I can get on the treadmill and before I get off the calorie burned count would barely cover a candy bar. :( Then with my dad losing his 65 pounds without a single exercise, it really pointed out to me how important the calorie in is in losing weight. It is almost like the exercise is more for overall health and well being?????
Personally, I find that when I am working out, I just don't seem to want to eat so much junk.
I hope you and Terri can have a good discussion about what really works when it comes to losing weight and are able to come up with a workable plan.
Enjoy your day 5 of fitness!
Take Care,
MO

Happy Friday PLOF,

Last night we were sitting around and Terri was looking up diet programs. We found one that offered the moon and would throw in the sun as a bonus and we were sold. I got online this morning and I realized for me that it probably is just another too good to be true story. It's a 1,000 calories a day diet and drops they say suppress your appetite. I also read where it can cause some nausea and other digestive discomforts.

So tonight when we talk about it some more, I'll see if there isn't a way where we can do something at home - like the 100 day challenge we're doing for fitness - where we go without alcohol. I think this is huge. Terri has cut her alcohol intake quite a bit over the years but I think her consumption is still having a huge impact on her empty calorie intake so any exercise she does isn't making a difference.

Really, I think if we look at our JJ Virgin book and create our own plan of healthy foods and no alcohol, we'll lose weight. When you get right down to it, as we all know, the secret to weight loss is calories out have to exceed calories in.

Terri wants to lose 60 lbs and I would be happy with 20-25 (and I was so close with my loss of 17). But it's getting into a healthy pattern and maintaining it.

Stay tuned and Day 5 for me on fitness.

Beautiful day, cool and sunny. We'll see how warm it gets at noon when we walk.

Good morning my dear friends;

I am so sorry that I am not as present as normal lately. I am so involved with tracking and being on top of getting my walking in and tracking everything. It's very time consuming and I don't like that part of it all. I'm making every effort to get out at night and get my walk in even in the dark with Mya, she doesn't care if it's dark, lol. I have to share this and hope I don't jinx anything but when I stepped on the scale this morning it showed 204.6 !!!!!!!! I am stunned and so excited, what a way to start and motivate my day. So something is paying off for sure; movement and healthy eating !!! I want to stay mindful and committed to seeing these or less numbers on our next weigh in. It has been a LONG time since I have been in this place so I want to keep it going to possibly reach my goal by the end of the year ..... to be in ONEderland !!!!

Carol so glad you have the day off but sorry to hear Linda is under the weather. She's in good hands tho' that's for sure. Enjoy your day and weekend ahead.

Yes Cheryl and MO it is always a struggle but so is life sometimes right. Just the nature of life to make our days the best they can be in all we do. You know what needs to be done just keep doing your best, you can't ask for more than that. Of course you know PLOF are always here to support each other and use as a sounding board. We are LOVE !!!!

Cat, Gold, NG sending you good wishes for a great day and hope to see you soon. And to all our other members who we don't see often enough know that we miss you and would love to see you pop in now and then.

Have a FABULOUS Friday team !!!!

Good morning all....

It was slow at work today so I took the day off. I'm loving it! I have lots of time built up so it's all good. In December I'm taking half the month off.

I was gonna go out walking this morning but it's storming. So..I'm sipping some pumpkin spice coffee, relaxing, and catching up on some of my recorded shows. Lucky woke me up with loving head bonks at 5:00 am. Hey..i am literally his momma and he knows it! I bottle fed him when he was 3 weeks old after someone threw him out on the highway and he thanks me everyday.

Linda isn't feeling well...allergies and sinuses so I'll grocery shop later and take care of the house so she can relax. Tomorrow we want to go to an Autumn and Art fair that we always go to..it'll be fun.

Cheryl, Mo...the struggle is real. It's a part of my daily reality. Stay strong..you can do it!

Have a great day all!

Hey there PLOFers!

Just got home, and I am so glad to be home. My old eating habits really infiltrated my life on the road this time. Even though I ate at the low end of my calorie range the past two days - the menu was poor. Example - Today's eats: McDonalds Regular hamburger, medium fry, large diet for lunch, a vitamin water and peach for a snack at my friend's after loading the trailer with wood, and a whole 5 serving bag of my favorite Carmel Corn that I was able to pass on yesterday along with a WHOLE dark chocolate bar on the drive home. I am completely stuffed and satisfied, but of course I did not meet any vitamin/mineral goals. I knew this would happen, so I took a pill. Now you can probably see why I am so focused on the nutrition of my food. I could seriously eat like this every day, and I have which is probably why I had such a fatigue issue before SP. With all the junk food I would normally eat, I am probably VERY lucky that I do not weigh a whole lot more. I think what has saved me is that my calories were fairly reasonable when eating poorly. Junk food WAS my meals - not meals AND junk food.

Cheryl - way to go on Day 4! Obviously, I do not have advice for you on mindless eating!

Gold - I was soooooooooooo close soooooooooooo often, but no BINGO for me.I did get a total of 3 Hold em's - 2 for 1 game and 1 for another, but I didn't get to yell " hold me" either. I also got a $100 pull tab, so I was happy! Say, no pressure on writing something. Glad to know you enjoy reading the messages. Hope you continue to get better. Oh, while in MN, I saw dogs arriving from Texas to MN. I saw one that I would love to have. I may check it out.

Well - ----- DG, NG, Carol, and any other PLOFers out there----- Enjoy your night.

Take Care,
MO

Hello PLOF!

Gold, best wishes that you do start feeling better.

I'm struggling in the evening with mindless eating in front of the tv (I love it and find it very comforting). I had a few salted melba toast rounds and was disappointed when I saw I had eaten the last one (I'd been working on the box for a few days). Fortunately, there was nothing in the house for a quick grab so I was forced to stay on track. I try telling myself "the kitchen's closed."

Counting this as day 4 because I am on track with some exercise (zaaz and walking at lunch).

Good morning friends;

It's Thursday so you know it's a special day to think about all we have to be thankful for.

I am really running behind this morning as when I turned my PC on this morning it needed to be restated and that took up a lot of time and it did not download my ADBLOCK so now my screens are full of ads. Guess what I'll be doing tonight !!!

Looks like we have some remnants of Irma in our neck of the woods, we are indeed blessed. Please continue to keep those effected by her wrath in your thoughts and prayers.

Ok friends it's THANKFUL Thursday let be just that and have a good healthy day. TTFN

Good morning....

Cheryl...I have no clue what the machine is called but my trainer recommended it. Basically it is like an elliptical but sitting down. I have hip problems on the elliptical and my sister has had 2 knee replacements and it is great for us. It's a good workout!

Mol...glad you had a good time at the casino and stayed within budget and calorie range!

DG...you go girl. Keep on getting your walks in...you are doing great!! Yes...i talk mysrlf into fitness all the time too and I never regret it. I always feel good about myself when I workout.

Cat, Gold, Night....hello. Have a great day!!

Good morning - in the words of DG - my dear friends!

I had a lot of fun gambling, but no big wins. I spent what I budgeted, so that is good. I did not eat anything since about 4 pm - so 12 hours - but I drank plenty of water and some diet soda.

Well, I need to beautiful of here by noon, so I better try and unwind.

Have a great day - in my words - my dear friends! :)

Hey there ladies,

I'm feeling a bit bummed tonight since I was not able to get all the walking in I was hoping to at work. My own fault as I got side tracked chatting but the thing is I still got walking in just not the 10 min consecutive steps to count as exercise. I did do close to 10 mins several times but that doesn't count in the tracker. Oh well. It rained most of the morning and now it's dark out again and I am not happy about it. I may just give the flashlight walk a chance. Thanks Cat.

I read all the post and enjoyed hearing all that is going on but I'm sorry I don't have time to comment as I will put Dusky to bed, go get Mya and get my walk on now while I've talked myself into it..

Good night my dear friends.

Hello from Mystic Lake Casino & Hotel,

I got here around 4, and I am chilling in the room before I go to Bingo around 6. I sort of screwed up a bit today, but I am within my calorie range. The photo shows what I had ---- mostly on my drive over and finished in the room ------ I guess it was for my lunch and dinner.

The good news about today is I started with a bowl of oatmeal with a serving of PB and sprinkled with Splenda Brown Sugar. Also, whenI stopped to pick up the popcorn, I kept my eyes averted from Dolly Madison, etc. Then, when I stopped at another gas station that carries my favorite Carmel Corn, I left without it. Because I tracked, I know I have a max of 230 calories left over the next seven hours. I think that I can do it. I will be drinking lots of water if I get hungry.

So what got into me. ????? NG's blog comes to mind. I am on a "fun" trip. My routine was thrown off. I was disappointed that I weighed .6 higher today. I know logically how to think about the .6, but emotionally is another story.

I look forward to a nice long walk on the grounds after Bingo.

Cat - I do not find your words as " harping", but I do get visions of someone hitting her head on a solid concrete wall when I read your "harping" words. Odd. ????? Say, How many years would you and/or Maureen need to make a long distance drive if you did go for the scenery? Deep down, I really think that I ate the whole bag, so you could feel better about your 1/2 bag. Your welcome! LOL

Carol - Glad you are enjoying and taking advantage of a few less work hours.

Cheryl - Thanks for the Mandela quot, and I hear you when it comes to the pulse of our world right now. I was to go with a friend to Mexico in January, but I am going to cancel because of the climate being set by the administration. I am quite bummed to cancel in one way as I went last year, had a great time, and was looking forward to repeating a lot of what I did last year and more. Also, even before Irma, Betsy and I had decided to not join our vacation group for a trip to St. Martin in February.

Gold - Do you know when you will get a doggie? Hope you are doing better.

DG, NG, and anyone else out there, Take Care,
MO
emoticon
PS - Since I did not meet vitamin and mineral goals, I took a vitamin pill. I did get my fiber!

DG, can you take a flashlight and walk after dark? I guess Im a bit weird as I like to do that, most people seem to be afraid. And way to go - your 8000 steps really impressed me - Ive seldom been able to squeeze that in in a normal day. When I used to go to the gym it was easier. So glad youre liking your Fitbit. Mo, you crack me up too! I can't help but try to keep harping on the produce since it's my fave thing to eat. Carol, glad work is decreased. Cheryl, thanks for sharing Mandelas words, youre comments are right on. Gold, hope you are having a happier day. Night, enjoyed your blog.

I took a pill and had a good nights sleep last night. If I do that for 2-3 nights it seems to reset my sleep patterns and Im able to get more hours in without waking from hip pain or early light. Maureen is taking all weekend off so looking forward to a rare 2 days in a row with her. It's busy gardening season with start of fall clean up. Shes finishing up last years business taxes today so well finally be able to see what mortgage we can pre-qualify for. Im having 2nd thoughts about the long commute so we may look for something closer in but not as scenic as Camano.

Breakfast was Uncle Sam cereal, blueberries, milk and cranberry juice. Lunch was Trader Joes frozen pesto pasta plus an avocado and an orange. Dinner is French lentil salad which is going to be a new recipe, pickled beets, and corn bread.

Later friends. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I'm calling today, Day 2.

Carol, that machine that simulates running, I'm curious what it is? I've been very good about getting on zaaz every morning and night. I'm very stiff from my fall last week and it seems to help. I need to keep doing the ice which I get lazy with.

Having my oatmeal with blueberries and walnuts - no sugar, no dairy. I love it and I especially love the surprise burst of blueberry.

DG, I know your healthcare is a big concern for you so I too hope all goes well. It's like a lot of the dialogue that goes on here at PLOF, kindness, encouragement and support. If "we let out own light shine, we unconsciously give other people to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."

emoticon Everyone seems to be making conscious choices with nutrition and excise. Very proud of this group!

...how many days until I retire?! So ready.
emoticon

I just read NG's blog, "White Rabbit" and it made me think of my favorite quote.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others. ~Nelson Mandela

And, that's why we're in the rabbit hole, I think, because right now our nation is not shining with love and light but shaking things up with hate, selfishness and darkness. I am afraid and unhappy [with our administration] and I don't always know who/where my allies are.

Good Wednesday and Happy HUMP day friends;

Well I walked and did a few simple standing exercise moves to break up the boredom last night for about 15 minutes. My Fitbit was charging to it was the best I could do. When I see how long others exercise and walk, I am happy to know I am just doing something now.

I hope you all are ready to make good choices today knowing that you are doing your best to live healthier. It is up to us as we are the ones in control of what goes in our mouth and how we move our bodies. MAKE IT HAPPEN ladies !!!

Good morning all...

Cheryl...i so know where you are coming from. I'm a yo-yo dieter as you all know thats why i fanatically weigh everyday and always check in from the gym. Its onlly to hold myself accountable. My weight gets away from me so easily that i have to monitor it very closely. Hey...you got this. You have a good plan in place and know what you need to do!!

emoticon emoticon

I had a great workout yesterday...1 less work hour makes a big difference for me at the gym. I did 60 minutes on a machine that stimulates running (Good for older people or people with joint problems) That's normal for me but I added some time on the rowing machine yestetday, a good total body workout. So...I'm feeling I like the reduction in hours.

Not whole lot else going on...i like quiet and uneventful. More time with my wife and kiddos is great too. Last Saturday after fitness I was able to sit on the patio, sip some pumpkin spice coffee, and let the furbabies run around the yard. It was nice.

Have a great day!

Hey, hey, hey!!!

Cat - what about the banana??? You cracked me up. I actually had to laugh whenI looked at all the photos together and how non-colorful they were. Well, that is about as colorful as it gets. Did you notice the "better" paper plate for the special meal. LOL.
Good job getting your exercise in despite being tired. Did you have more energy after the exercise? Hope your sleep gets better. Mine is all screwy right now also. Can't seem to fall asleep until 2 or 3 am.

DG - Fingers crossed on the health care benefits. When do you find out? You said you could not see the charts, but could you follow the graph line and spot the birthday lunch?

Not sure what I am going to do tomorrow. I am out of milk for breakfast. I am also going to be on the road starting tomorrow around noon until Thursday evening. Maybe I will run to town in the am. I will have the trailer on my truck, so I could run the atv in on the trailer to gas it up and get milk. I better start doing some planning. I am going to Mystic tomorrow to play bingo and get an early start to a friend's house in MN to take her torn down deck wood off her hands. Once I have it loaded, I will either get out of town before rush hour or wait it out depending on what time it is all loaded. I also may have an opportunity to pick up a free piece of linoleum on my way that I found on Craigslist. I need to call in the morning to see if it is still available.

All for now,
Good night PLOFer family :)

Hi ya'll

Good to see everyone.

I did not get as many steps in at work today as I could not take my walk when I got there as I had to meet with my boss for a quick chat and we ended up reminiscing so the morning got away without my extra steps. I hope to get my walk in tonight but OMG it's dark out already and it's only 7:45. Guess I'll have to do some house walking .... boring !!! Right now my Fitbit is charging and that takes a few hours so it will be a timed report of walking in the house. No way of knowing the step count without the tracker. Oh well. I turned in my paperwork for the health care subsidy so will see when the new benefits come out if it helps me to afford coverage.

Gold good to see you but sorry to hear your not yourself. Hope you come around soon.

Mo - sorry but I could not read your charts but sooooo glad you are keeping track. It is def vital when starting out a new regime. You will come to learn to eyeball some measurements as you go along.

Cat - Mo does not eat veggies or much fruit, I know crazy right !!! I think less screen time will be a def benefit.

Cheryl - what a great way to motivate yourself with the reward in mind. They are both great ideas too, so keep at it girl you can make it happen and enjoy what lies ahead.

Ok I think I'm done here so will say good night, don't let the bed bugs bite, if they do hit them with a shoe.

Gold, fingers crossed that med adjustment ups your mood. With summer ending and the days getting shorter that can sometimes affect serotonin levels. Hang in there xoxoxo.

Mo, thanks for sharing your log. It really helps to record everything doesnt it? If nothing else its a regular reminder to be mindful. I do have to say Im missing produce color with your food photos. You know, greens, reds, yellows!!

Got in my senior exercise here in my office today but so tired, havent been sleeping well/getting enough sleep the past week. Going to try to avoid screen time after work and settle in early to get caught up. Have a great evening all.

Hey Gold,

Sorry you are not feeling well. It can be tough coming back to reality after a week or so of fishing. I think you need some doggies to care for!

I just thought I would throw it out there that I would be at Mystic for Bingo. I need to pick up wood from a friend on Thursday in MN, which is what brought me to town.

Take care,
MO

Hi all;
Sorry I haven't been here more. I'm depressed. We are changing my meds and hopefully it will resolve soon. But, right now I'm not doing very well.

Mo, I can't play Bingo on Wednesday because I am on a very tight budget. I can only afford to play once every couple months. We I talked about going earlier this month, my daughter picked up the costs.

Carol, I am definitely not a rock painter. But, I love to see yours and Linda's rocks. I'm glad you are on fewer hours at work.

Debigene, you are rocking that fitbit. Keep trying. You are such an encouragement for this team.

Cat, Cheryl, and NS. I'll get to you soon, but have to run now.

Good Morning PLOFers!

Just a quick blip and recap of week 1 completed.

It is easy to tell the day of eating out and birthday cake. Can you see it?

These charts bring awareness to me of how out of alignment virtually all my days were before SP. No doubt my graph points would have been consistently like the "odd ball" day is now.

Made these goals consistently:

Consistently over on these: Being over on Protein is a secondary goal, being over on carbs is a conscious decision that I try to keep under 275 vs 226 - at least for now.

To be under on fat is a secondary goal:

Side note: weight lose of 3.4.

All for now,
MO

Ahh, thanks everyone for comments about my dad. It was definitely a love-hate relationship growing up because his parenting skills were archaic but as I said, he did plenty that I'm thankful for and I love and miss him. But Carol, I'm sad to know that you too lost your father at such a young age. How scary for your mom. Both me and my brother were in our 20s and out of the house. Our family is quite small and has been since the 80s.

Okay so, DG, to answer your question, no I'm not weighing in this week. I got on the scale this morning and am up so that'll do for me.

You're doing a great job getting your steps in DG!! emoticon

I've decided when I lose my 10 pounds (AGAIN!) that I'm going to get a treat (maybe a new work outfit - oh boy but I do have my eye on a shirt that I could wear hanging out with friends.) And, then, when I maintain that weight, I'll think of another incentive - probably something at the spa. emoticon But nothing is happening until I lose 10 lbs. My current goal is 185 and maintain that and then re-evaluate my goals. So that's a 10 lb loss and then another 6 lbs to get back to 185.

I'm trying not to overdo on the ankle and right knee but must do as much as I can without straining my hurtin' parts.

Looking forward to checking out that website, Cat. emoticon

Mo, you are doing an awesome job and just know I'm cheering you and Betsy on for a successful challenge. emoticon

Coffee, oatmeal, water and tea for morning intake. Want to get where I'm having water first thing.

Gold, Cirra, NG and all of PLOF - have a great day.

Happy Tuesday friends;

Ok I'm gonna try to catch up here a little this morning.

Carol I don't think I knew that about your Dad either, thanks for sharing. Yes those numbers on the scale are not the be all they want us to think they are. Remember those NSV !!!

Cheryl, thank you as well for sharing about your Dad it's hard when we lose anyone close but a parent can be really tough to learn to live with. Don't over work that ankle yet - too soon. Baby steps girl ! So glad to hear you are on the up swing. Are you going to weigh in ?

MO - hope you resolve your sleep problem sometimes it helps to just have a mantra to say over and over until you fall asleep. love that you are really into your 100 day challenge. Keep it going one day at a time. Your meals look perfect. The yogurt surprised me, LOL !!!

Cat - thanks for the info and the link I'll have to copy and save it for those winter days coming when I know I won't want to go out in the cold. Damn those TJ white cheddar puffs !!! I love them too but yes we must put a serving in a bowl or the bag just seems to magically disappear in an instant. Please give my condolences to M on the loss of a dear family friend.

If I missed anyone I am soooo sorry I love you all so much for just being a part of this team and feel so close to each of you. Thank you !!!goal of 8000 steps yesterday for the 1st time and will try to keep up with it with the extra steps at work when I get in early enough.

Time for breakfast now so wish everyone a day full of healthy decisions.

TTFN

I.m happy to say I reached my

Good morning all....

Cheryl...wow I didn't realize you lost your Dad at an early age too. My dad died suddenly at 46 and my mom was a widow at 39 with 6 kids ranging from 17 to 5 years old. I had just turned 16 when he passed. I always wonder how life would have been different if he had been with us.

Hate my scale...i have a weight gain on weigh in Sunday and 2 days later I weigh 135. I'm too hooked on those numbers and need to just not even worry about it.

Have a great day...its gym day for me after work.

Later

Hello and good evening friends;

WOW I am really beat tonight, just looking forward to relaxing tonight, may even go to bed earlier than usual. Anyway just got back in from my 16 minute walk and now I am under 5oo steps to reach my 8000 step goal for the 1st time. I really am pleased that I have make good effort in my walking since June and increased since I got the Fitbit. It really is a motivation to see those steps. I do have to say that I don't physically feel better but I do mentally feel better after the walk.

Well I made lots of notes to comment after I read what's going on with everyone but I'm just to tired to type it all right now so I will work on it tomorrow in the morning and maybe if I can at work.

Sweet dreams my dear friends.

Good evening PLOFers!

Cat - good for you on joining the fitness challenge as everything and anything is a step in the right direction ---- including not eating the WHOLE bag of TJ's white cheddar puffs before you realized what you were doing. LOL

Good to hear that you and Maureen are in a good place, and glad you could support her at the funeral.

What my dad did was super special to me because I have been watching him do all sorts of thoughtful things for so many people over the past few years who live in his vicinity. Even when I have visited him for extended periods, I have not felt like a recipient of his thoughtfulness. In part ---- because I " am so independent" I think he thinks it isn't important to me. I put something on FB when he called me on my b-day about his call being special, and I wonder if it may have finally dawned on him that I might need/want his thoughtfulness.

Well, I think that I did enough physical work outside working the chainsaw and battling the tree limbs that once Bets gets home, I think just my 30 minute walk will finish off my daily fitness goal. It was weird as I felt the lifting and moving of the long limbs working my body.

I thought that I would attach pictures of my daily menu - for the most part this past week.

Breakfast - RB, Banana, 16 oz 1% milk

Lunch and Dinner - 4 oz chicken, pic of healthy bread

One special lunch of 4 oz chicken, 200 grams potato, 1 service cheese and sour cream

Snack of 2 oz OJ and 1/2 Dark Chocolate and raspberry candy bar

All for now PLOFers!
Take Care,
MO

Noted DG - No slacking. That will be my motto for my first full work week in a month or so.

Joined a free fitness challenge for seniors on another website. Im on day 3. The gentle workouts are a very good pace for me incorporating both chair and standing exercise with warm up, cool down and stretching in addition to light cardio. There is even a short meditation/visualization at the end. I need to get some light handweights for the next session. Canned veggies work too though. I knew I needed guidance as exercise on my own continues to bring injuries. In case youre interested its called Grow Young Fitness (https://growyoungfitness.com/exercises-fo
r-seniors).

Mo what a touching story about your dad and the bday celebration what a special and memorable event. Happy bday btw you young thing!

Did alright with food this weekend until last night. Made the mistake of bringing an unopened bag of TJs white cheddar puffs to the couch with me instead of measuring one serving into a bowl. Well, you know the story, the next thing I knew half the bag was gone and I barely remembered eating it. Watching TV with unmonitored foodstuffs is a big no no!

Went to a funeral yesterday for a longtime family friend of Maureens who had just turned 95. M has worked for their family on and off in many capacities since she was 17 and she grew up with the kids and grandkids. We took a long ride afterwards and went to a nursery so I could get some new fall plants for the patio. The smoke has cleared and the weather was early fall gorgeous. We do so many fun and interesting things together, in fact no matter what we do its quite enjoyable. So different than where I was a couple of years ago. So grateful!

Thinking of all of those who are just facing the enormous task of putting their lives back together after fires and floods. How lucky are we to not be in those areas.

Good day PLOFers!

I have been having trouble sleeping at night. My eyes are tired, but the mind won't stop. It causes me to get off to a slow start, but at least I can set my own schedule - kinda.

DG - we had similar breakfasts today as I had my usual RB, 1% milk, and with a banana today. Thanks for setting the tone for an awesome week.

Cheryl - so sorry to hear you lost your dad at such a young age. How old were you at the time? You are right about it being generational to a big degree. Just last year my dad realized that his only sibling, a brother-4 years younger, is born the same day of a month as him.
Glad to hear the ankle is continuing to improve along with your mood. Would I be correct in assuming Terri is more of a football fanatic? What??? No computer on the weekend??? That would be tough for me if it were every weekend, but I could also probably get used to it.

To all PLOFers....enjoy and take care,
MO

Happy Monday PLOF! My mood continues to feel stable and I'm going to walk today at lunch. I tried to pamper my ankle over the weekend but was happy to be able to be on it for extended periods of time.

Love your pictures Mo! And, you know, I don't think my dad ever purchased any material item for me before his untimely death at 49 but there is so much I appreciate him for. I think a lot of it is generational too. Although, there are plenty of men that do get out and make those special purchases. I love that your dad surprised you and Betsy with a cake.

Mo, Terri and I work out together sometimes. It's something we enjoy doing together, but the trouble is our schedules aren't in sync. Plus, right now, I can work out for free at the gym at work and it's a nice facility. With football season, I think I'm going to request that we do something physical on Saturday and then I can squeeze something in on Sunday. I have a hard time sitting for long periods of time (like a full day of football). Now that we're doing football pools, I'm watching more games, taking notes and listening closer to the chatter from Terri, my nephew and even the commenters.

Carol, glad you and Linda had a nice time celebrating her birthday.

You know, Cat, since I don't get on my computer over the weekend anymore, I'm quite content with being unplugged too. Glad you enjoyed your time on the coast.

DG, thanks for your cheery messages and I'm going to push hard for successful week for fitness and nutrition.

After my fall in the gutter last week, I remember how important it is for strength training and a strong core.

Good Monday friends;

Ok team no time to slack off let's start this day in a healthy way and keep it going all day long. I prepped my lunchables last night, cereal for breakfast today with a banana and skim of course, and I think dinner will just be a big salad with the last of my cut up chicken. Maybe some soup we'll see.

Carol I hear Christmas in your thoughts, LOL. I know how much you love that holiday but do enjoy the fall 1st, LOL !!!

Have a MINDFUL day ladies, stay focused, stay positive and be kind to others.

Mo hope all your family and friends are safe and dry. As with any other team members that may have family or friends in the hurricane's path as well. Since you are a football fan, like Carol and Cheryl, I'm sure your enjoying your viewing.

I on the other hand went to replace the gas I used up yesterday. Our price here in my hood is $2.69. Still under $3 so I'm not complaining. Then our hood was having it's annual Arts and Crafts Festival so I found a parking spot and got out to have a chance to get some walking in. I walked for 45 mins there then came back home, gathered up my recycling to put out for p/u this week. That's the high lights of my day aside from giving Dusky me time as well and catching up on some recorded shows. I'll be getting out later for a pleasant evening walk to end the day.

Hope your day has been good and your evening as well.

Good almost afternoon PLOFers!

Slow start to the day as we have been glued to the news over Irma. We have a number of friends and family in FL, plus we have developed a fondness for Key West as we have been there for vacation the past 3 years with a group. Plus, we are booked to go there for the first time by ourselves in December. It would be the first time - just the two of us - took a vacation in years. We had gotten caught up taking trips with a group of co- workers and friends.

I was so excited to have my usual breakfast this morning! I missed it yesterday because of the lunch out. We plan to hit the gym at 1, so we can be settled on the couch by 3:20 to watch our Pack play. It is looking like a low- key day.

Carol - I am with you on the crowds. So glad it was a wonderful evening for Linda and you. Your dedication to GOING to a gym is amazing. I usually have to dust and vacuum our home gym before I can use it!

DG - glad you were able to get a lot of walking in during your visit with the boys.

Enjoy your Sunday PLOFErs!
MO

FYI - We fell asleep on the couch and missed the 1 pm gym time. Watching the Pack and will hit the gym after the game. Betsy said, " It is okay to miss a day." I said, "oh no" as my thoughts were about Carol's dedication of GOING to a gym always and my desire to stick to this challenge. Now, there may come an unavoidable reason to mess it up, but today is not one of those.

Good morning friends, what a lovely Sunday it is here today !!!

Yesterday was enjoyable with the boys. We went to the gardens and walked a lot but you know it really wasn't considered a workout walk but steps just the same. It was a good hour maybe more of walking. We had a light lunch there at the caf I had an apple salad with mixed spring greens and a cup of tomato basil soup. Then we took a leisurely drive home and stop at a pub for drinks and appetizers. I had a grapefruit crush and we shared chili nachos. Something I would not order but the choices there were very healthy limited. It was all I ate the rest of the evening. As much as I love our friendship it has changed over the 14 years they lived in Belize so enjoying a day with them is enough. They smoke way to much !!!!!

Mo I can't tell you how great I think you are doing with your new program but mostly I can hear the mindset changes that are taking place and that's SOOOOO important for change to happen. I hope you are proud of yourself. OMG what a lovely thoughtful surprise from your Dad. I love the pic too. Cute little couple. My Dad will be 82 in Oct.

Carol your evening or should I say Linda's, lol, sounded like such an awesome time. So glad you were able to take her for her birthday treat. Don't worry about the indulgences you know you will work it off.

Ladies I'm getting hungry so will come back later today for another check in. Have a good day whatever you do and do it making healthy choices.

Good morning ladies....

Up early and headed to the gym. I have to after last night. There were so many people there and so much food. We very much enjoyed listening to all the music and people watching. There was a jazz band that was FANTASTIC! So it was a great evening but too many people for me to be really comfortable...i reallydon't care for big crowds and I ate entirely too much. Linda had a wonderful time though and really it was her special night.

Linda will be 65 on 9/19

So it's back to business with nutrition. After my gym workout I'll be watching football and painting rocks.

Have a great day!

Carol

Hello PLOFers!

What an awesome day for me!!! More soon.....

Cat - you are so correct about how a routine helps. I am awful without one. It sounds like you had the most wonderful time on the coast - fantastic. Sorry Joe had to leave, but it sure sounds like your time with him was priceless. So happy for the both of you.

Carol - what a great way to celebrate Linda's birthday!! Are you at liberty to announce her age?? Please tell her Happy Birthday from me. Congrats on the 8 hour days. You seem to handle the "routine changes" pretty well, but all those hours must take a toll to some degree on you.

DG - Another visit with the boys! Enjoy, and I hope you all do get some walking in.

Ok, so..........my dad (82 yoa) had invited Betsy and I out for lunch for our birthdays, so we met my dad and an Aunt at a restaurant. As we were finishing our meals, my dad had asked the waitress for coffee. She said it would be 7 minutes, and he said fine. This is a big deal because he is an eat and run guy although he has gotten better the past few years. Then when the waitress up-dated him on the coffee progress, he said "bring me something with chocolate on it - your choice." This scared me because he is so particular about what he eats, I was worried she would bring him something he didn't like. What does she come back with?? A birthday cake for Betsy and I that my dad had ordered and brought to the restaurant. He even had bought two candles, and had the numbers 5, 8, on the cake. I seriously believe that this is the first thing my father has ever personally purchased for me. I was so shocked and touched. It was a FANTASTIC cake. How could I not have a piece - that would have been unconceivable!

Because cake got added to my planned eating at lunch, I cancelled any other food for the day. This was actually easy as I am still stuffed, and I finished eating 8 hours ago. Instead I drank lots of fluids. We also stopped twice, and each time we took a 30+ minute walk during the 5 hour drive home making the entire day FANTASTIC!

Wishing you all a safe and pleasant night.
MO
PS - I actually spell my name Mary Ann, but I didn't even care that the cake writer didn't write it that way!
