We live in the country & my Schnauzers have a large lawn to romp on, so they exercise themselves. We sometimes take them out on a walking trail in the town near us. They have to have their harness on for the leash & they really don't like it. When I put their harness on, they pout. I do get a good workout on the trail because I usually have Molly & she is just go, go, go. Anna is a little heavier & not as fast, so she walks with my husband. I am my own motivator, but now I am able to go out on the trail & walk without any problems, and Molly likes that !!

I love watching my dogs play. That at least gets me outside. They chase each other around and hit each other with their paws which only increases the speed they play. I love it.

Jennifer understands that walking on the treadmill can be done outside too, and feels cheated if I do my walk on it. She brings me my shoes, drops them by the treadmill, sings to me and makes other very strange noises while I'm walking. When we walk outside, she's a powerhouse of energy. Most places right around home, I don't have her on a leash (like the woods) and she leaps and runs ahead, then comes back to make sure I'm still coming along, then takes off again, sometimes bringing me "gifts"; like antlers that deer have shed. (and sometimes other parts I'd rather not know about)

Sorry this is late. I have a wedding tonight that is Chinese themed and when I put on my dress it didn't fit - TOO BIG! So we ran to Chinatown so I could be properly dressed.

So let's talk motivation. Does your dog motivate you? How?

Tazzy is my fuzzy personal trainer. When we are walking the trail (where I do my cardio) if I try to slow down too much she will bark and whine until I pick up the pace. She also watches me while I do my ST.

Gypsy walks with my son each day, she needs to go slow as she in a 6 (almost 7) yr old lad/dane. She does however keep me on schedule. She gets made if I'm not on time with meals and exercise. It's like the dog can tell time.
