emoticon Hi Everyone, I don't snowboard or downhill ski, but I do a little cross country skiing. Pretty soon it will be weather for those kind of outdoor sports (whether we want it to be or not) sigh! I'm not a big fan of the winter. Michigan Tech (where I work) always has the wonderful Winter Carnival with all the snow statues made by various campus organizations and even a few local businesses or groups. Any way, to those of you who enjoy winter sports, have fun in the snow, probably in the next few months anyway! Carol from Michigan Tech

Life may not be the party we expected....but while we are here we should dance.

I finally brought my snowboard up for the winter. i'm excited...its only my second year, i'm not that great but i get better every time. i'm not able to afford a pief pass right now, but i will hopefully get some money for my b-day and can buy one then. my cardio mainly consists of walking around campus with nowhere to go, and can't forget the 3 flights of stairs everytime i go somewhere. i started a team for NMU students if anyone is interested.

Well... You could always come do Water Aerobics with me tonight at the PEIF. lol I mean, honestly, your idea of cardio will be a lot more intense than mine, but if you have a PEIF pass, we could do classes together? Or hit the treadmills. :) Not really outside, but cardio... I just walk a lot. Or you could take one of the classes in snowboarding, skiing, etc.?

I have not failed 700 times. I have not failed once. I have succeeded in proving that those 700 ways will not work. When I have eliminated the ways that will not work, I will find the way that will work.

Hi, I was wondering if you are into skiing? That would be excellent outdoor cardio, in the next month or so that is. Winter is sooo cold up here though I have to recommend doing indoor activities for saftey. Too many times I have seen joggers in the ER during the winter from slipping on ice. I just joined Fitness Express up here in Ironwood, I love going, it's girls only though and joined a the local swim team. There is a YMCA on the old air base though if you don't mind a commute. When I lived up there the Y had raquetball, a swim pool and weight rooms even a jogging track. If you're not into that I would also reccomend a nice long trek around the old Presque Isle park. It's very scenic this time of year. Hope this helps some. Have a great day.

I've done sugarloaf before...not since i started on SP but i'm not sure where Mt. Marquette is...i don't have a car up here yet...so finding places to go makes it really difficult...my roommate is a runner...which isn't my thing so when i do my cardio i'm usually by myself...which makes it boring so i dont' walk (my usual cardio) as long as i would like to

walking to and from class with a backpack is a good start.

I know it's not outside, but students can get good discounts at the fitness centers too.

My wife and I had a membership at TEch's last year when we lived in Houghton. Now we've moved, but got one here.

Skiing, snowshoeing in the winter. Hiking up Sugarloaf or Mt. Marquette. Walk down by the Lower Harbor.... some ideas anyway.

Keep up the good work.

Carpe Diem! Seize the Day!

I live on campus and i don't have much to work with, so far i've spent lots of time wandering around campus to get my cardio in. If anyone has an idea of some easy outdoor cardio, that will help me get my daily cardio in i would greatly appreciate it.
