Just a quick stop as prayers are needed. My BFF has a guy from her school years that she is getting back together with and he was hurt really bad on Monday night. He is a driver for Fed Ex and was just finishing his route Monday night when a kid blew through an intersection and his the truck. The truck rolled and he was hurt really bad. He had emergency surgery Monday night and from what she tells me he is really struggling. He is having trouble with putting thoughts together although he recognized her and he knows where he is. He remembers coming to Omaha in October to help her when she had her surgery. She says he will have a long road of therapy ahead of him before he will be able to get back to work. She is in Kearney with him right now so her granddaughter and I are taking care of things here with her business.

Thanks for your prayers. I will check back more later as I need to get my granddaughters present wrapped so I can head over there in a half hour to spend a little time with her before her mother comes to pick her up.

Merry Christmas to all

Thiry

Have a safe trip Kelly and enjoy your time in the "sunshine" state. Wish I was going with you!!!

Barb, so glad you are feeling better. That is a plus.

So much stuff going around right now so be extra careful.

Sharon, so good to hear your Soldier is on the "short side" and a reunion will be this year. Praying for him as he is away from his family. When is the baby due?

Woke up this morning to an announcement from our local sheriff's office that there had been a shooting down the road about 3/4 mile and they were on a man hunt. Found out shortly after lunch, some knucklehead shot himself in the leg and didn't want to tell the sheriff so made up a whopper of a story. What is wrong with folks? I don't think he will do it again as he has been arrested and charges will be filed.

Kids due in in about an hour or so. All is ready.

Love you all. Do have a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy & Healthy New year.

Hugs, Sunny

Tuesday – Cookies packed, meal prepped as much as is possible. Set to go on Christmas! PHEW

Feeling much better today, thankfully.

I hope everyone is taking a little time for themselves. It is so important!

HUGS and happy Christmas Eve Eve. LOL WE always used to call it that when I was a kid.

Sharon: Yeah, guess it takes us “medical types” longer to apply good logic to ourselves! **SIGH** And do feel better.

Kelly: Have fun! Glad the furnace is good to go!

Just want to let you ladies know how awesomely special you all are!!! HUGS

Barb, hope you are feeling better!

Well Sunny, you are one busy family this week. I take it your daughter in law is doing mucho better. Soup supper? Great idea.

Well, Sharon I saw my first bell ringer in quite awhile yesterday. Went back to the car, grabbed some candy canes (all I have left are mini ones). I never noticed until you mentioned it, how many folks don't even look much less acknowledge them, I certainly hope I never did that. If I did, it wasn't intentional. I was running late and couldn't offer to run across the street to get him coffee or soda. It was mild and dank yesterday but if it had been cold I think I would have at least offered, this guy was just so cheerful. I'm not going to be able to run over today. Also, yesterday, a big ol' truck took up two spots...problem was, it blocked in a car!!! And we were just talking about that.

The furnace is in great shape, as is the monster filter we have on it. Having the ducts professionally cleaned this spring was a really great investment, especially since I don't have to dust as often even with two four leggers.

I'm headed to FL this afternoon; have been forwarned I will be wrapping presents with my daughter! This coming from the kid who said this year will be a small Christmas because they have had a ton of extra expenses...sounds like they caved. Well, I stuck to my guns.

Merry Christmas' Eve Eve! Hugs and luv

Barb, sorry that your ears are plugged and hurting, but glad you FINALLY went and got checked out!!!!

Kelly, hope everything turned out well with your furnace, and that it was just a routine maintenance inspection.

Sunny, I hope you have a very merry Christmas, too, and enjoy the time with your family! I am so looking forward to our reunion sometime in the new year.

Yes, DS is officially SHORT! emoticon

Lots left to do - especially wrapping! Finished up grocery shopping for the holiday today.

Not much news here - very cold, damp, and rainy.

Have a good evening all. . .

Hi everyone. Just stopping by to say Hi. We had a wonderful Sunday/Birthday party for our sweet DIL. Today, I finished up some tasks today and think I am almost ready for the company which will arrive tomorrow. Wednesday is Christmas Eve Services and then a soup supper with our DIL's family. Everyone will be here with us Christmas Night.

I probably won't be around much but wanted to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year.

Hugs to you all, Sunny

Kelly: UGH! I do feel better today, but still the ears are a problem. I am hoping they'll be better by tomorrow morning (that's the usual pattern with my ears and this kinda junk).

We all know that if we behaved the way our leaders do we'd be in jail. It's just sad.

Wow Thiry, your Guardian Angel should get an extra helping of dessert! Sounds like your son is marrying into a great family,

Sounds like you watched a lot of fun movies. Seems to me I saw November Christmas but I am drawing a blank.

How are you feeling this morning Barb? Oh no, ears? Whatever it was yesterday morning was gone quickly but I'm congested again this morning so I'm thinking it's more allergies.

Did you see where Mrs. Prezbo has been outted on her Target story. Someone found an old TV clip where she was laughing about it. She's just ticked off that those not getting a handout aren't willing to lick her expensive boots. (I remember when she showed up to work the food bank wearing $$$ sneakers) Likely, whoever handed him the car keys must have voted for him; who hands over keys to someone not wearing valet clothes?

I thought about calling one of the suppliers for a store name. I'm laughing because states even control where you can buy something, like they control how many medical facilities can be in an area, although they don't like monopolies? Go figure.

Should get a move on, having the heat system checked out this morning and need to clear a way in the closet to pull the attic stair down. Don't know who that gremlin was that tossed it.

Let's keep happy thoughts and prayers for our military and first responders. See all y'all at 3!

Sharon: The whole situation is sad. Just no words. All I can say is, our "leaders" leave a lot to be desired.

Monday – back to business Monday! Can’t believe only 3 more days. But getting thins wound up.

Yesterday was feeling like the cold was in my ears. Had several operations on my ears before and cannot afford an infection. On antibiotics now. UGH BUT feeling better today. Better stay that way!

Good luck w/the holiday prep, everyone!

Thiry, definitely with Barb's comment! Your guardian angel was most definitely looking out for you!

No, Kelly, that was not a picture of our little cherub. Whenever I get one again, I'll post it.

I am so upset about the 2 policemen murdered in NYC. The bloody trail trickles all the way down from the White House, and the Dept of Justice, and fans out from there! This is just insane - an administration that encourages and incites violence instead of protecting it's citizens, and protects those that break the law instead of the victims! You know 'ole Prezbo, as Kelly calls him, will be out on the golf course or at the beach, and won't lose a single wink of sleep over any of this! Sorry. . . my anger boileth over! I hope the police go on strike! When is this country going to wake up and smell the stench coming from the highest positions in our government? Do you know that CNN had the audacity to print something that I read online today about the President and First Lady still being "victims" of racism?! REALLY???!!!!!!! Sorry, I'll stop my rant now . . . breathe deeply . . . And Sharpton - don't even get me started!!!!!!!

Here's a link to the Peppermint Bark Vodka.

If you do a Google search, you might be able to find who carries it in your area. We have to buy all our liquor in state run stores. Not all our state run liquor stores carry it.

Yesterday, we watched Disney's Prep & Landing, Prep and Landing Naughty vs. Nice, and North Pole on the Hallmark Channel, and Angels and Ornaments on the Hallmark Channel. This morning we watched November Christmas again after I did my blog. It is such a great movie!

We didn't go out to see Christmas lights tonight, but will probably do that on Christmas Eve after dinner.

Sleep tight, ladies. . .

BARB – thanks, yes I am so excited about the car and the concert was awesome
SHAROM – I can understand your frustration about the phone company. I have the same feeling about the post office and have said that I trust them about as far as I can pick up the building and throw it. Yes last weekend was the best. I can’t remember any like it ever in my life.
KELLY – So you can see my smile about the car and concert through the internet LOL Yes it is a great big smile, one I haven’t had in a long time.
SUNNY – thanks, I want one of those ornaments. I told DH the other day that I wanted to get a car ornament this year to commemorate the new car. My BFF and I went looking for one yesterday and all I could find that I liked was an Hallmark ornament from the movie Cars so I got that for now as they didn’t have too many left and figured if I found something I liked better I can always take that one back.

Wow Dick Van Dyke is 90, just can’t believe that.

Hoping that everyone is beginning to feel better and that all have a very Merry Christmas.

It has been quite a week since getting the car last weekend. Everywhere we have gone together my BFF has wanted me to drive. Friday we were on our way to the Christmas party and she wanted to stop by and pick up her contacts so we pulled in by the store and she went in. She said when she got inside everyone looked at her and said Nice Car. She told them it was mine and where I got it and if they went there to ask for my son. On Thursday I was leaving the site I work at to go to the other site to pick up the parent payments so I could do the deposit first thing Friday morning. I got in the car and started down the hill. When I got to the stop sign at the bottom of the hill I remembered I needed to record my mileage (for mileage reimbursement for travel between sites) I sat at the stop sign long enough to write down my mileage and when I looked up I saw a vehicle blow through the stop sign going in the direction I was about to turn. They didn’t even slow down. Now if I hadn’t stopped to record my mileage I would have turned right in front of them and most likely been hit. I guess it was meant to be for me to sit at the stop sign for a little while before making my turn. I would have been turning in a direction that I normally don’t turn in the first place.

We had the lunch with DS, his daughter, his girlfriend and her family. Her mom and step dad, dad and step mom, a couple siblings and a couple boyfriends. It was a nice lunch. Jason (step dad) asked us when we found out about the baby then talked about our thoughts about the kids getting married. I told them what DS had told me about not being in a hurry since he got burned the last time but also told them I think it will happen sooner rather than later. We discussed our jobs, families and lots of other things. We also talked a little about the Christmas schedule and Jason said they are very flexible when it comes to that as the kids are all getting to that age where they have boyfriends and want to spend time there also. He brought up our sharing phone numbers so we gave him out phone numbers as they were getting ready to leave. He said he would text us so we could have their number. We also talked about getting together some time to talk as it was a bit noisy at the restaurant. We spent almost 3 hours at the restaurant before the lunch broke up.

Well better get busy on things that need to be done before the kids come for Christmas dinner as we have boxes with decorations all over the place that we haven’t gotten put away and need to clean the table again.

Have a great week and a merry Christmas
Thiry

Kelly: Oh no! Hope this virus isn't spread by internet! ACK! Definitely use the garlic soup. Sooooooooo good. Thanks, Sharon!

Don't you love it when you're on the hunt for something specific and get steered in the direction of something different . . . NOT!

Sharon and Sunny: Hope it's a good Sunday for you1

Sunday – well a little bit warmer outside, but still cold.

Did a lot in the house yesterday. Just didn’t feel like going out. I’m glad, as it gave me a chance to get over this blasted cold! Feeling better today, but not going to over-do it.

HUGS and enjoy your Sunday. See you'se @ 3 for cocoa w/something-something -- definitely!

Thanks for the birthday wishes for our grandson. Guess he had a nice day, spent it in the car coming up here and his other granny had a cake all ready for him to dive into. Like I said, doubt if I will see them until they get back to Florida.

Went to two stores to score some peppermint bark, never heard of it. Here try this, no, this is what I'm on the hunt for - it's that or nothing. So I had just plain ol' cocoa and popcorn. Couldn't decide which movie to watch, started three but just couldn't get into them...my heart was just so sad over those two officers being murdered. Sharon, luv the o'adult mug!

And I agree with Barb, you are so genuine and clever with your writing. I am sure I am not the only one that goes back and re-reads many of your blogs. And yes, where ever we end up for a gathering things may not ever get back to normal there. Or we will show them what our idea of normal is.

Is that your little cherub in your profile picture?

I'm off to gargle, emerg-n-c and look up your garlic soup, just in case this isn't an allergy event.

Hugs and Prayers for our military and first responders and our Country.

Saturday – well it’s back. Felt good yesterday morning, but by the early afternoon I felt feverish again and just plain yucky. **SIGH** Lots of hot tea, back to the chicken soup, and gargling. Feel a little better this morning, so that’s at least a plus.

Got chocolate chip and oatmeal cookies made. The carrot cake is in the freezer. Onto ginger snaps and short bread.

Have a great weekend.

Kelly: Have a wonderful time w/your family. Wow! Can’t believe Dick Van Dyke is 90! He obviously looks older than he did in his series and movies, but he looks great for his age for sure and has lots of energy when I see him interviewed.

Sharon: Woman, that was the best blog yet! LOVED it! You are talented. You should publish them!

That Peppermint Bark Vodka sounds sinful! YUMMO

Have a good time today. Enjoy your something-something cocoa! Definitely will be there.

Oh gosh, sorry for not checking in yesterday! It was a very busy day, and I spent waaaaayyy too much time writing my blog for the Xmas Party! Kelly and Barb, loved your comments! Oh well, hope you all enjoyed it! Can you imagine what it will be like when we finally meet?! It'll be a non-stop fun-fest!

Going to make this short cause I have to get busy on my Day 20 blog for today. Then we're off to get haircuts, probably do lunch as DH likes to do that, so it'll be close to cocoa time before I'm back to check in again. Speaking of cocoa, my BFF and I sampled the Peppermint Bark Vodka sans cocoa yesterday while she wrapped presents. That stuff is soooo good! I'm going to see if I can buy another bottle today to carry me through the holidays, and cocoa.
Gotta run! See ya later for cocoa with some Peppermint Bark vodka sumthin' sumthin in it!

Here's to a quiet week-end everyone, time for deep breaths before it gets busy!

Can not believe it, but our grandson is 18 today!!! Where in heck has the time gone? They're in town but won't see them til next Sunday when they get back. I invited myself to stay with them a couple of nights before heading back. I decided to go on down and will fly out Tuesday, will get some time with our daughter and son in law's family.

Will check back later, got a breakfast meeting with the widows and widowers group...the group that loves to eat out (at least once a week, formally)!

I just heard that Dick VanDyke is 90, can that be? He's promoting a new book.

Kelly: yes, we're supposed to have snow, Mon., Tues., Wed. OK that oughta be enough!

Sharon and Sunny: Hope it's a good Friday.

Friday – well, it was another cold day, but didn’t spend too much time outside anyhow. Got my carrot cake for Mom done. IN the freezer and time to move on!

Watched THE POLAR EXPRESS. What an exquisite movie. Love it.

Well, onward, fellow holiday warriors!

Morning all, not much going on in this neck of the woods yesterday or today. Except it is RED Friday and I'll have my red on.

Looks like we won't have a Currier and Ives Christmas either.

Have a good one, see all y'all at 3!

Yep, that garlic soup works wonders!!!! Glad it helped you, Barb, and sorry I didn't think of it sooner for Jason, and you.

Love your Christmas Tree, Barb!!!

Kelly, we are going to be here, just the two of us, as DS is still overseas, and when he gets home and settled, I guess we'll hear what the plan is. My BFF and I were just discussing earlier to day that the biscuit is due in 9 days.

Sunny glad to see you here, and that you are a busy elf too! I'm jealous about your winter wonderland. I don't think we're going to have a white Christmas. emoticon I'm still praying for at least some Currier and Ives snow on Christmas . I started wrapping gifts yesterday, and still have some to do. I'm one of those who's always wrapping on Christmas Eve!

Love you guys!

Happy Dance you are feeling better Barb! Man do you sound like it too...energizer bunny. Can you believe Christmas is a week away? Luv your Christmas tree.

Areas to the north of us have black ice, we didn't get as much rain as expected so lucky us.

I hear you Sharon about hockey, sometimes it seems you go to a fight and a hockey game breaks out. But this was a classic, a few obligatory punches but all in all a well played game. This is my first pro game since the 70's. Couldn't get John to go to any of them since we lived here which surprised me. Interesting how the Predators got their name. They were excavating for a new bank building downtown about the time they were coming here, a dinosaur skull (forget the name but it had long fangs) was unearthed. So it seemed appropriate to name them Predators. Oh did I mention, Mike Fisher, Mr. Carrie Underwood, is back on the ice?

Will you be heading to your daughter in law for Christmas or wait for that cute biscuit to come out of the oven? I am getting excited for her.

Hugs and Prayers and see youse guys at 3!

Garlic soup - who knew? Keeping that recipe. Thanks Sharon. Barb, so glad you are feeling better.

Packages are all wrapped and under the tree and several other places. Mercy, I said I was cutting back this year. Oh well, maybe next year. Now, making a list of cooking chores to be done before the company all arrives.

Also, putting up and cleaning. I will be ready! We woke up to a winter wonderland but don't expect it to last too long. It is pretty though.

I love the Christmas Tree Barb....so dang cute.

I have made garlic soup but not with the egg and vinegar, this sounds so good. Actually I'm making turkey soup now, using Thanksgiving turkey from the freezer. That was one meaty bird, but enough already. Hope you're feeling much better as the day went on.

Don't we wish we had invested in Pinnacle vodka when they first introduced all these flavored vodkas? They sure started something. My favorite is the vodka infused whipped cream in a can, but don't see it anywhere anymore. I keep forgetting to ask about it.

Had to run back by, this is just hilarious and I give up if you don't crack up over it.

OK, forget last night's post sort of . . .
I just came across "the best sumthin sumthin" for our hot chocolate. It's a two-fer!
I took a picture, and will post it in my photo gallery as it doesn't appear I can put one here.
It is PINNACLE Peppermint Bark Vodka!!!!! OMG! Wait until you taste this! Sipping one right now!

Barb, here's a recipe for French Garlic Soup. My friend, Helene introduced me to it about 20 years ago. I have made it on several occasions when we have had bad colds or the flu.

Garlic Soup

1 whole head of garlic + 2 garlic cloves to fry/sprinkle, finely sliced
1 onion, finely diced
2 tbsp duck fat, or olive oil
1 tbsp plain flour
2 eggs (separated)
A few sprigs of thyme
1 tbsp Sherry vinegar or classic wine vinegar
1.2 liters/ 5 cups chicken stock
Sea-salt & black pepper for seasoning

In a large pot, melt duck fat (or olive oil) and fry the onion for 2 minutes. Add the peeled/ sliced head of garlic and continue frying for 2 more minutes. The onion & garlic must not brown. Add flour, stir and pour the chicken stock in the pot. Bring to a soft boil, season with salt and pepper, add sprigs of thyme. Cover and leave to simmer for 20 minutes.

In a small frying pan, heat 1 tbsp olive oil and fry sliced garlic until golden and slightly crispy. Drain on paper towel and set aside.

Purée soup using a hand blender, or in batches in a regular blender. Return soup to pot and switch on medium heat.

Separate eggs. Beat the egg whites in a small bowl and whisk continuously into the soup. You should see thin strands in the soup. Take immediately off the heat. Whisk egg yolks with vinegar and dilute mixture into the soup, stir constantly to avoid any curdling.

Sprinkle with fried garlic and drizzle with a few drops of olive oil (optional). Serve immediately with thinly toasted bread - I drizzle olive oil on baguette/ toast and grill for a few seconds or until golden.

How are you feeling this morning Barb? Better, I hope.

Sounds good Sharon! So glad you find all these goodies to share and enjoy sipping.

Great time at the hockey game, man oh man were my knees talkin' to me when I got home. We parked a good half mile away, which was fine but the climb up a whole lot of stairs and sitting in cramped seats and jumping up and down...you know typical game activity. Got home, iced down the knees and slathered on a double dose of arnica gel and poured myself a brandy. It was a bit chilly walking back to the car.

Probably will miss the cocoa klatch but will be thinking of you all!

Hugs and Prayers for our brave warriors, their families and our Republic.

Sunny, I'm drinking Dark Creme de Cocoa in my hot chocolate, but I was thinking a little Peppermint Schnapps would be great, too, or even both! Then my mind started working, and thought why not add Pinnacle Whipped Vodka? I found these on the internet:

Hot Mint Chocolate Toddy

1 oz. Kahlua
1 oz. Peppermint Schnapps
Cocoa mix (enough to make 6 oz.)
6 oz. water or milk (depending on your brand of cocoa)
Miniature Marshwallows
Chocolate Shavings
Cinnamon Stick

Directions

Make 6 oz. of hot cocoa in your favorite coffee mug. Add the Kahlua and the Schnapps. Place 8 or so miniature marshmallows on top. Grate some chocolate over the marshmallows, and drop in a cinnamon stick. Simple, delicious, and a classic comfort cocktail. If there is one ingredient that you're more fond of, you can certainly adjust the recipe to suit your palate.

Variation: Omit the Cinnamon Stick, and the Marshmallows, and squirt a good dollop of whipped cream on top, add some chocolate shavings, and some crushed candy cane.

emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

DIY Peppermint Schnapps

Yield: 1 Litre

Glassware: Large mason jar

1/2 cup (120 ml) sugar
1 cup (240 ml) water
3 cups (710 ml) 80 proof vodka
2 tsp. (10 ml) peppermint extract

Instructions

1. Start off by making simple syrup. Combine sugar and water in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Stir continuously until the sugar dissolves, about 5 minutes. Let cool.
2. Pour the vodka, simple syrup and peppermint extract into the large mason jar. Put the lid on and tighten.
3. Store in a cool, dark place away from sunlight. Every few days give it a stir and return to the cool place.

Special Notes
*After 2 weeks, your peppermint schnapps should be ready to go. You still have time to make this before your big New Year’s party. And to last throughout the holidays.

Well guess you dropped in this morning while I was tapping away, oh no, sorry you have that danged bug now! Hope you are feeling better as the day goes on, lots of warm fluids, canes and sumpthin' no doubt helps.

It's dank and cold here too. Sippin' on some hot tea right now too. Going to the Pred's hockey game tonight, one of a group is down for the count with the crud so I'm going to go. I'll be the chaperone for this younger crowd, it's a whole section that have become quite good friends and are a lot of fun to be around so I am happy to go.

Although it is hard to feel happy about this massacre in Pakistan. May God comfort the families.

Well, I will be doing dishes manually for a while, barely got the dishwasher unlocked after running it, oh no and it was jammed full. It's been tricky off and on but this was too close. I want to wait until after Christmas. Next up, waiting for the old chill chest to take a powder.

Drink up ladies!!!

Sharon, what is the sumthin' sumthin' you are putting in your Cocoa? All I have right now is some Kentucky Bourbon. Let me know as I am chilled to the bone. DH and I went out and finished up the grocery shopping for Christmas and for our DIL's BD celebration on Sunday evening. Wow - the store was so packed and I am glad I don't have to go back.

Barb, hope you get to feeling better. Are you catching Jason's cold?

Have a good evening. Anyone watch The Voice? The winner will be announced tonight. Any one of the 4 finalist could win.

Barb, sorry to hear you're under the weather now! Don't forget to throw in a nice hot mug of hot chocolate, and stick one of those mini candy canes in there! Can't remember the last time I bought or ate lobster. I'm thinking a couple of years ago, when a friend's son went up to RI and bought back a cooler full of chix lobsters. We were lucky enough to get two of them!

I picked the day for the phone to activate. We had to do a work around which I won't go into detail on here, but didn't want it to activate too early. Why pay the extra money?

Kelly, I'm with you on the Velveeta and Rotel tomatoes. That is a winning combination in my book! I also agree about the Christmas music. Haven't heard a "classic, traditional one" yet. Even my stations on Pandora were playing really weird stuff. Wonder if it's more of the "war on Christmas" crap?

Well, laundry is just finishing up, and then I'm going to make myself a cup of hot chocolate with sumthin' sumthin' in it! It's very cold, damp, and rainy here today.

Catch ya later alligators!

Congrats on the new wheels, Thiry. a few years back when I got my new Ford Escape, My DIL gave me an ornament of a car and it says, "I went shopping today and came home with 4 windows". emoticon

I finished putting up the tree in the sun room yesterday. It is our "family tree" as all of the ornaments are picture ornaments of our family. It was fun. Today, before the weather turns, DH and I are venturing out to finish the grocery shopping for Marla's BD party Sunday night and for Christmas Eve and Christmas. Off soon to make that list.

I will try the video later today. Thanks for the share, Kelly.

Sharon, praying the new phone works and sure can't blame you for being skeptical.

Take care team and have a Terrific Tuesday. Hugs to all, Sunny

Kelly: YUP some days are just like that. With veggies and plenty of water, that water weight will disappear.

For sure, Thiry wins the best week-end prize!!! Good to "see" you smilin'...

The phone doesn't work until the 2nd? Crazy, what they can't let the new overlap the old, oh well. For ATT's sake, it'd better work, haha.

Hope Jason is feeling better. Seems the crud is going around here too.

I think that song is easy to mimic, and it's popular with the youngsters. I'm sure there are songs our generation drove the oldsters nuts with and so on and so on. Seems to me, this year there isn't a lot of Christmas music on the radio.

Yum, the only thing I like velvetta in is nacho sauce with rotel. Agree with American cheese, what surprises me is it is on expensive sammies...really? I'll pass. WOW those are mighty big tails, how lucky were you? I don't know if I could wait that long.

I'm not going to beat myself up about the over abundance week-end, luckily only up a couple of pounds, since my hands are a bit swollen I'd say it is salt related. Oh my, the pot luck last night was a treasure trove of yummies. I've already prepped lots of freggies for today so it'll be a light eating day.

See youse guys at 3!

Tuesday – Jason feeling better and did go to work. So, that is a great improvement. Now I am left with this stupid virus! But with chicken soup, vaporizer, hot tea and a little self-TLC I will be better. Feel better now than I did yesterday.

I don’t think the weather helps. Cold and damp.

Ok, on the good side, got my wrapping done! Hallelujah!

Sharon: Hurray on the phone! What a lot of hoopla to make it happen! Prayers for sure that it works on 2 Jan. I don’t blame you for lack of trust!

Nothing better as a go-along to tomato soup than grilled cheese!!!!! Wow! Supposed to be a lobster shortage now, AND an olive oil shortage! Apparently the rainy weather decimated this years olive crop in the Mediterranean. OY! Is there ANYTHING that isn’t going to be in short supply! Well stocking up on my olive oil, chocolate, but I don’t think lobster.

Jason is back on his feet, but now I have the stupid virus. Vaporizing, chicken souping, gargling, hot tea (think I’ll add something-something!) and will get to bed early.

Read your blog. AWESOME, pure AWESOME!

Sunny, Kelly and Mama: Hope it’s a good Tuesday.

Hi Dee Ho!!!
Well, I got the phone on it's way to DIL. I am so glad about that. I'll need all of your prayers that on 2 Jan everything will work as promised!!!!! Needless to say, I don't trust anyone at AT&T as far as I can throw them - which is about an inch if I'm lucky!

Mama, what a nice present, a new ride for Christmas!!! And then tickets to a great concert to boot! Sounds like you had the best weekend of all!

Thanks for the video, Kelly! That was cute, but I have to say I am really tired of that rendition of All I Want for Christmas is You. Do you think that because her DH is a big wig with Sony records that it's why it won't seem to vanish into the blizzard of Christmas songs?

Well, I made the Tomato Basil Soup for dinner, and "souped up" grilled cheese to go along with it. Bought some crusty french bread and some Butterkase Cheese that the cheese lady recommended. Nice and ooey gooey and quite flavorful. A definite "several steps up" from American or Velveeta. I really don't like American - it's plastic cheese. That after breakfast was my only meal for the day. Got out and about running errands all afternoon, so didn't get a chance to eat. Bought some Christmas cut-out frosted sugar cookies from Wegmans. They are my absolute favorite, and taste just like my mom's did. Also scored 2 14 ounce lobster tails for our Christmas Day dinner!!! I'm so excited to find those good size tails! Guy said to grab 'em up as they are the first to go - so I did!

Sunny glad to see you back again, and hope you are having fun with family.

Barb, hope Jason gets over whatever is holding him back. I may have mentioned this before, but my mom would make my dad what she called "A Hot Whiskey Sling". Hot lemonade with about 3 ounces of whiskey in it. Dad would drink that, and then go to bed, and mom would cover him with about 2 or 3 extra blankets. He would sweat so much she'd have to wash PJs and sheets the next morning, but that was no problem because he was at work!

Well, got to run to get my blog ready for tomorrow since I was out all afternoon.
Sleep tight, ladies!

OMG I am so excited tonight. It has been quite the weekend. Friday when I got off work I stopped by DS's apartment to deliver the toilet paper we picked up for him when we got the 25% off. We talked for a while. During the talk he suggested that we come by the dealership and see about getting a car as they are on sale 20% off til Tuesday. We had plans to go to Norfolk to see about getting what is left of our stuff in storage up there combined down to just the 1 container as there isn't enough to require 2 so can't see paying for them both. We left early to head back to Omaha and drove straight to the dealership. I walked in thinking we can look but that is about as far as it will go. We all said and done by the time we left I was driving a brand new blue 2015 Dodge Dart Rallye. We are getting $500 trade in for the car that I have been driving that has something draining the battery. We did bring that car home with us also to get it emptied out as we had a bunch of stuff in it from the storage unit that I didn't want to put in the new car and get it dirty.

This morning after church DH and I emptied the car of the stuff we brought back from Norfolk and transferred the jean blankets, sunglasses, reading glasses and charging cables from the old car to the new one. After we finished that we went tot he zoo again as they had another free day so we thought we would look at some of the things we didn't get a chance to look at the last time we went for the free day. Tonight my BFF bought tickets for the Beach Boys Christmas concert so the 4 of us got together and had supper then walked from the restaurant to the Orpheum Theater then after the concert was over we walked back to the car in the light rain.

I just found that I didn't post this last night when I got home. Hope everyone had a great weekend. and has a great week.

Had to come by and share this, Sharon this one's for you...

That was a really nice gesture from you Sunday school class! I never thought I'd see the day my brother and sister in law would move to Florida, but after their daughter moved there and they realized they could retire with a great cost of living they were there and love it. Actually Jim says he needs to go to work part time just to catch his breath they stay so busy, well, they have 4 grandchildren there and that will do it. I was surprised that John didn't build as soon as we bought the property next to our daughter. So I understand.

What did me in Saturday was the Christmas Crack that didn't set up in time to take to the party. Those danged blt's just kept calling my name, even after throwing it in the trash can but it didn't go that far. So I will be interested with all that salt what the scale will say today. I know, I really should open my wallet and get a scale.

Oh wow, sounds like the stand off in Sydney is over, don't know if that nitwit is taking a DRT nap hope so.

CUL8R, hugs!

Sharon, so glad you had the 20 minutes with your Son. I am sure his mind is elsewhere with the baby's due date right around the corner. My heart goes out to him and Momma too. Tough when they can not be there.

Barb, hope Jason gets to feeling better. Good idea to work from home today.

Kelly, don't beat yourself up. I don't get too excited especially over the holidays. Maybe I should but heck, it is the holidays and there are things to eat that I don't eat the rest of the year. Do have a good day. I have heard of ice fog before and it is dangerous stuff on the roads. We had those high temps yesterday.

Enjoyed our party out last night. Our dinner was paid for by the Sunday School class-a gift for subbing for the teacher all year. That was nice. I will begin subbing the end of January for about 6 weeks while the regular teacher is in Florida. I personally would love to be a snow bunny but DH is not on board yet and I doubt if he ever will be. He is a home body and it would just create so much stress for him.

Take care, have a Marvelous Monday. Hope to see you at 3.

Monday – Jason still not over this cold. It’s gone to his chest, so he’s working from home. Vaporizer, hot tea, chicken soup are the order of the day. No fever, so that’s good. The virus going around tends to settle in the chest and has lingering coughing/hacking. But he’s feeling better . . . again. I am glad he can work from home.

What a wonderful Sonday you had Sharon! 20 minutes, WOW. I think it's something they do to entertain themselves, our son grew a 'stache over there too, John wanted to know why he didn't wash his face. Oh BDD is this close already? Let the count down begin. Yes, and I still mutter to myself that he isn't going to be home.

Forgot Peter Pan was on but the previews didn't much appeal to me. Shame that we are witnessing the wussification of our Nation and kids. Loved Mary Martin.

I ate my way through Friday and Saturday, have no idea what triggered it and I don't remember it ever being that bad or lasting that long. Was fine yesterday. I didn't have cocoa at three because I had just had wings and a glass of wine. But made some later after dinner, just added a splash of brandy. Won't be having sumpthin' this afternoon, going to a meeting at the Highway Patrol.

We have not only heavy fog in the area, but areas of ice fog! But it's going to go up to 58 this afternoon. Warmest day of the week, get out the flip flops.

Will stop by later, meanwhile, extra prayers for those hostages in Sydney.

Sharon: So very happy that you had face time from your son. I am just so shocked and sorry that your DS was denied leave to come home for the birth of your baby.

I am glad you had a good evening seeing the lights too and dinner out. Fun!

Oh, I remember Mary Martin as Peter Pan. Awesome!

Sunny, 3 trees up?! Wow! I'll bet the crocheted tree is beautiful.

We've had a good SONday. Got to Facetime for about 20 minutes! He sounds very tired, and I'm sure his heart is somewhere else. BDD - Biscuit Due Day - is 2 weeks away. Oh in addition, he had a beard and mustache - they all grew them last month - but he still has the 'stache. Doesn't look like my son with it . . . Oh well, I'm sure it'll come off soon.

Our dinner last night was fun, and it certainly was a nice evening, and all of the lights were just beautiful!

Just finished watching the recent Peter Pan Live special. Boy, did they "wuss" that one up! Didn't even begin to hold up a candle to the original Mary Martin version!

Hope you all are enjoying your Sunday. That video really got my toes tappin"!

Catch y'all later. . .

I think my wording about the video was off. You know Baptist worry when music makes one's feet want to start moving.... emoticon All in all, it turned out well and everyone smiled.

We are headed back in the evening for a party for one of the Sunday School Classes that I substitute teach. It was nice of them to ask us to their party.

I will try to post a photo of my popcorn (crocheted) garland. It is so cute!

Take care and do have a Sonshiny day!

Sunny, that video is so cleverly done! I think you worry too much about how it'll be received.

That's cool, crocheted garland to look like popcorn. I bet that tree is beautiful.

That was good news having the tire under warranty.

Quiet day around here, looks like it'll be a cloudy one. I'll finish putting up the Christmas stuff today. Hope everyone has a good one, sounds like you all need to take a few for yourselves though.

Good Morning, Team. I went to bed early last night - worn out. We got the big tree up and decorated then I put one of the small trees up in the dining room. It is one of my favorites - all white and red. White "Moravian Stars" that we made several years ago, a crocheted garland that looks like popcorn and cranberries, and red bells. Today, I hope to have time to do the tree in the sun room.

I am teach Sunday School this morning & looking forward to it. The lesson is from the Psalms and is "Make a Joyful Noise" unto the Lord. I had so much fun studying and preparing it, now praying it is received in the spirit that it is being presented. When I first saw the lesson, it reminded me of a song by Gordon Mote, Whose gonna make all that Noise?

Off to the shower shortly. Do have a JOY filled day in the Lord.

Sorry about the tire but glad it was under warranty.

Sharon, that recipe is a keeper. I love anything with peppermint and I love Oreo's so this is a "made for Sunny" recipe....

Up early this morning and drove down to Hannibal to pick up a package that I hoped to get yesterday however needed to print out the e-mail from Wal Mart to pick it up. Ugh. Oh well,
had breakfast out with Sis again so that made it worth the trip. Now, home, package (gift) wrapped and waiting on Joshua, Brian, and Marla to help decorate the tree.

If you remember, I told you that Joshua did not get the job with General Mills. Well, this week, he went to Manpower and low and behold, they are hooking him up to work some hours at General Mills. He should be able to work next weekend, 10 hour shifts and hopefully continue. Makes one wonder - doesn't it?

Well take care and enjoy the warmer weather.

Hugs to all, Sunny

Saturday – phew! Going to concentrate on baking today. At least that’s FUN!

Supposed to be a little warmer today, but couldn’t prove it by me yet! It was cold when I took my walk. I’m getting more used to it, though.

Oh, the tire is a freebie! There is a 2 yr. warranty on the tires, so thank goodness!

Otherwise, that’s about all the news that’s fit to print.

HUGS

Glad you ladies enjoyed the video - I just had to share it!

Barb, sorry about Jason's tire! How can people be such a Grinch at this time of year?
Hope you found a tire. I think you need a double shot of sumthin sumthin!

Well, I finally got a phone - now just have to see how to get the rest straightened out.

Not much news as you know how I've spent my week . . . YAWN. . .

Came across this in my travels around the Internet today. It's our kind of recipe:
1. Super Easy
2. Only a few ingredients
3. No baking involved
4. CHOCOLATE
5. Candy Canes
Need I say more?

Peppermint Oreo Bark

10 mini candy canes, crushed (about 1/2 cup)
12 Oreos, chopped (about 1 cup)
1 cup milk chocolate chips (or semi-sweet)
1 1/2 cups white chocolate chips

Line a cookie sheet with wax paper.
Add milk chocolate chips to a microwave safe bowl and heat in 30 second increments, stirring after each, until melted and smooth. Pour onto prepared cookie sheet and spread flat. Sprinkle with chopped Oreos. Chill for 10 minutes.
Add white chocolate chips to a microwave safe bowl and heat on 50% power in 30 second increments, stirring after each, until melted and smooth. (I use 50% power for white chocolate because it’s so temperamental!) Pour over Oreos and spread to the edges of the milk chocolate. Sprinkle with chopped candy canes. Chill until set, break into pieces and serve or package to give!

Oh wow, I hope it wasn't intentional. What's wrong with people? John used to carpool in Houston, the guy he rode with had a very old jeep and thugs stole the radio out of it - wasn't even a good radio. Good to hear that he takes a van, that has got to help.

Crapacious!!! You crack me up Barb...

Will come by at 3, I need to run across town before traffic gets really crazy meanwhile, will have my RED on and TGIF - Thank God I'm FREE!

Friday – thank goodness! Well, Thursday evening was a total bust. Jason arrived to the parking lot on the van from Madison and found his tire flat. It’d been punctured. GRRRRRRRRRRRR. That tire is a month old! **SIGH** So, guess I know what I’ll be doing today . . . getting a new tire. Apparently the tire was punctured . . . not sure if it was intentional, or something on the road, but since nothing was found, have to assume intentional . . . . DOUBLE GRRRRRRrrrrrr. Ok, if we can call de-cluttering de-crapify, then I would make up another word for last night . . . crapacious! LOL BUT nothing a little something-something and chocolate didn't fix! Oh, and hugs for and from DH too.

Otherwise, it wasn’t a bad day. Just pooped as yesterday was busy.

Have a great weekend.

That is so cool Sharon. Brought tears to my eyes when the very first comment was from a military Mr. Mom who raised three kids while his wife served, we do forget about them and the grandparents that pick up the slack as well. But great find irregardless.

All of those calls are recorded, wouldn't it be a hoot if you insisted they go back and look?

There was a discussion on the radio about Starbucks when they refused to send coffee to our deployed, Snopes said it didn't happen. I sent an email to them telling them it may not have happened at that time but it has happened in JAX and I saw the letters from them. Just like a few other unflattering news bites, some things can go away, including snopes. Oh well.

Enjoyed my cocoa and thought of all of you. Had to go to an artsy open house a bit ago; place was packed, could barely turn around, so I didn't stay and that was my only time out of the house today. Actually kind of nice.

Hugs...

Kelly

Thanks for the info, Barb! Not sure how I'll go about it yet. Trouble is, I only have "my version" of the story, and the test message I received from at&t after I called.
I tried to search for military issues with At&t but haven't really discovered anything.
Thanks for all the support, my friends. I honestly don't know whether or not pursing this would make any difference. They are such a huge conglomerate.

In the meantime, check this out. I found it while surfing for military issues with AT&T.

Kelly: I agree! Just getting word of mouth out about their "service" would definitely hopefully decrease any likelihood that anyone would do business w/them!

Glad you had a good luncheon! Bet they appreciated those candy canes!

Sharon I just had my bp spike reading this...what the H E double hockey stix???

I have never heard of them giving away a phone number that quickly, actually I think they are blowing smoke. Thanks Barb for finding those numbers, if they disabled the email (probably due to overload of complaints coming at them) hopefully they haven't changed the phone numbers. I"d be taking this public if you can't get help from the higher ups, and filing a complaint with the FCC but I'm sure you've already started on that. I'd check with the BBB and if that store is a member of Chamber of Commerce, just drop them a letter about them. I think now it is against the law to force people to give up their numbers, I'm on tracfone because I don't get online with my phone that much, although I have free wifi. Just buy minutes, actually I got a new phone with I forget how many minutes more than 1 1/2 years ago and have to renew very soon but that was $100. Works for me even if their customer service stinks but their coverage is the best, even in Podunk County, FL!

And to not be granted leave for the baby? Heartbreaking and maddening. When's the baby due anyway?

Hope you were able to get a decent night's sleep.

The breakfast was more like an open house that went on all morning but got to see some other alumni and meet some from the previous classes as well as other Troopers. So yes, it was a good morning. Sharon, left candy canes for each of the servers and the gals cleaning up after us messy eaters.

Have a nice lunch with your Sis Sunny. Hope things are looking up for her. I like brandy in my egg nog. Oh, a friend found a picture from Buffalo Trace bourbon, several shots of bourbon and captioned - get your flu shots. Now I seem to remember that logo from the 60's and I think that bottle will be coming home with me this weekend. It was one of the special ingredients in our famous milk shakes. Now don't ask me what I did even this morning!

Well, let me get going, see you gals at 3!

Hugs and Prayers to all our brave warriors and their families and for our Country.

Good Morning, Team.

What a bummer that your son can not get leave when the baby is born. Ugh!

Also, the situation with AT&T would have driving my BP up too. A few years ago, I had Sprint and the bill just kept getting higher and higher but didn't want to change companies as I wanted to keep my #. I even ask Sprint if I could change to Boost Mobile (their company), lower price and keep my #. They said that it wasn't possible. I kept looking and finally found Virgin Mobile which no only let me keep my # but I have unlimited everything and only pay $45.00 a month which is a savings of $35 a month and over $400 a year. I like saving the $$. Guess what? Sprint is the one who provides the service. Crazy....

Do have a good day. I am off to finish some cleaning. Tomorrow, I will have lunch with Sis and we will plan the menu for Christmas.

Take care and Hugs to everyone.

Sunny

Thursday – Off to the groomers to get Mr. Spot beautified. He doesn’t like grooming attention, but is good for the groomer. Thank goodness.

Jason has a cold, but is feeling better. Thank goodness for that too.

Otherwise, making progress. Got the cards don and now it’s onto wrapping!

Have a wonderful Thursday!

Sharon: OH, I am so disappointed that your DS can’t get leave for the birth of the baby. That is painful for him (and EVERYONE!) I am sure. So sorry.

Here ya go sweetie. Contact info for AT&T CEO Hope it works.

In the years since, AT&T has dramatically transformed its nationwide U.S. wireless business with a best-in-class network and more than 100 million subscribers. AT&T also has enhanced its advanced enterprise capabilities, serving millions of business customers including multinational companies on six continents, and its fast-growing AT&T U-verse platform for integrated TV, data and voice services now has 10.7 million total subscribers. Mr. Stephenson also has led AT&T's breakthrough "It Can Wait" campaign - an education and awareness program encouraging people to never text while driving, which has amassed more than 5 million pledges.

Mr. Stephenson began his career with Southwestern Bell Telephone in 1982 in Oklahoma. He served as the company's senior executive vice president and chief financial officer from 2001 to 2004, and from 2004 to 2007 he served as the company's chief operating officer.
