BARB – Sorry to hear that your dad’s legs are swelling. Hopefully the talk with the therapist will help to resolve that issue. It wasn’t too bad at the office today. Several people were asking about the trip and I showed some of the pictures (didn’t show the ones from the harbor cruise). Several people made comments about my forehead as it is pealing from the burn I got on the cruise. I told them at the office that I got it from walking along the harbor and the sun reflecting off the water which wasn’t all wrong as it was from the sun reflecting off the water on the cruise.

KELLY – Yes I think I needed the rest although after sleeping most of the afternoon yesterday I had trouble going to sleep last night. I know I was still awake at 2 am. I was actually surprised that I didn’t have as many authorizations this morning as I thought I would. Sorry the kids had such a wild ride. A 10 hour drive is bad enough without adding an additional 4 hours for traffic jams. I think you are going to miss pup since she has gone home.

SHARON – Oh what a weekend you had. It sounds like a really fun but busy weekend. Yes the trip was nice and the views were absolutely wonderful. I am going to miss the views now that I am home. DH was left with an allotment of money for the week although I had to transfer money into the account while I was gone as he had some car troubles. His son came down on Wednesday to change the water pump and belt. He also has a new thermostat to put on the car but I guess it will take about 4 hours to do that and his son didn’t have the time to do that on Wednesday. As for the meds, I started setting them up when he came home from the hospital and have just kept doing it since. He is capable of doing it but we just kept with my doing it after he recovered from his surgery.

SUNNY – It’s good to hear that the antihistamines are helping. Good to hear that Josh is doing well. Prayers that he is able to find a job soon. Hopefully DH will get to see the specialist soon and glad to hear that the eye patch is helping.

MARSHA – I hope all is well for you.

Well work wasn’t too bad today as many people were interested in my trip. I showed several people pictures from the motel and my walks along the pier but skipped the ones from the harbor cruise. The SA has now told me I need to write a one page bullet report on information from the conference. I got out of doing it today but she wants it by 3 pm tomorrow. We also had a meeting with the contact from the state about some of the past due claims and it does sound like I won’t get payment on one of them and possibly a second. I had to make copies of my backup information for him even though I emailed almost all the information right after he started. He did bring another worker with him to this meeting and she was really impressed on the information I had on these claims to support them. There are a few that they didn’t think they would be able to get paid but after our meeting they are going back to reevaluate those so I might get that money yet. We had a birthday at work today but I was a good girl and didn’t eat any of the cake especially since it was made with cherries and I don’t like cherries. I also got asked why the currier didn't stop by on Friday to pick up the deposit. I told the SA that I had discussed it with the DOFS and since there wasn't anyone trained to do a deposit it was decided that there wouldn't be one last week. Of course I got the lecture that fiscal policy states that there is to be a weekly deposit. Luckily I had discussed the deposit with the DOFS so she couldn't write me up for it. She had gone through and taken the money out of the envelopes and prepared a deposit without going into the system to mark off the payments as is part of the process. She also made a point to tell me that this week when I do my deposit she is going to watch so she can do it while I am gone for the wedding and bus tour this summer.

After work I headed to the gym and while I was driving to the gym I called the lady from the conference and spelled my name for her as well as giving her my phone number and personal email address. She asked what my position was at my current job and I told her but also told her about my degree as I figured that would be a plus. She said she would pass on the information and get back to me after she hears from her contact here in Omaha.
As I was getting ready to turn into the parking lot at the gym I saw the manager getting ready to cross the street. I opened my window and hollered “did you miss me last week” he replies yes and he would be back at the gym in a few minutes. As I signed in I told the girl at the desk that I would talk after going to the bathroom and changing. I told the 2 of them about the trip and showed them a bunch of the pictures before starting my workout. After I completed my workout I headed to the store to get a new denture cup as mine got broken on the trip home Friday. I also picked up a few groceries then came home and fixed supper.

Oh I just about forgot, on the way to the store i stopped by the post office to pick up the mail and had the invitation to the wedding with an RSVP to complete and send back. They have personalized stamps on the invitations and are offering a choice of beef, chicken or fish for the reception.

Have a great week.
Thiry

Hi Everyone. I am doing better today. The antihistamines are helping but I still look like I did battle with something. hehehe I called the doc to let him know so waiting on a call from their office.

Josh called and he is doing great - 5 months sobriety last week and he really likes where he is staying, has been applying for jobs!

I have had a busy day preparing for Bible Study tonight. I am leading the study tonight so preparation took a little more time. I should prepare this much when I am not leading and I would be getting more out of it, I am sure!

DH is waiting on his eye specialist to return to work for the appointment. In the mean time, he is wearing the eye patch on his good eye which will hopefully strengthen his weak eye.

I am off to get some things done.

Do have a Marvelous Monday.

Hugs, Sunny

Monday – good visit with mom and dad yesterday. Made dad put his legs up, though, as his legs are very swollen and I an concerned about that. Have to talk w/the therapist about lymphatic massage to help with this.

It was a nice day, but a bit chilly w/the wind. I know Dad wanted to go outside, but it was just too chilly.

Well on with the work week schedule! Jas goes out of town next Monday, so have a few things to get done before he goes.

HUGS

Thiry: Wishing you good luck as you go back to the office today!

Kelly: Oh boy. What a mess for the kids to have to contend with . . . glad they’re safe!

Sharon: Glad you had such a full weekend with the grandies and lived to tell the tales. That’s sweet that your little Leah slept in the same bed as her Dad did!

Hoping that (*&^% rail is installed sooner than later, too. GRRrrrr. NOT . . . GIVING . . . . UP!

NO MOANday today, thank goodness.

Sunny: Hope you’re feeling better.

Hugs and prayers for our soldiers, families and our country.

See y’all @ 3.

Hey All! What a busy, and tiring, but fun weekend for us. We babysat almost the whole weekend! All day Saturday, then brought DGD for her sleepover. She was a little anxious at first and nervous, but we managed to get her to feel better. We told her that no matter what, if she decided she wanted to go back home, we would take her. Had a little bit of of a time getting her to stay in bed and fall asleep, but finally accomplished that. She slept soundly and woke up around 6:30 AM. We played games, did crafts, read books, introduced her to Pooh Bear and friends. She was already talking about another one when we woke up the in the morning. By the way, she slept in her dad's bed that he slept in until he went off to his AF adventures. I kept reminding her of that, and I think it helped her to feel better. We were holding on to it for one of his children. I think DGS is going to get it, as they just bought DGD a new bed at the beginning of the year.

We took her home mid-afternoon yesterday, had their Easter dgg hunt, and stayed to keep kids occupied while Dad did lawn work, and mom cleaned the house. We were both draggin' tail, but I am so happy to have this blessed opportunity.

Sunny I think this lousy weather is playing having with all of us! My whole body aches after a weekend of rain, and raining still here. Hope you are feeling better and back on your bike.

Marsha, I am so happy to read that it is almost time for you to finally get those little grand-babies into your lives and into your family. It certainly has been an uphill battle, but God knew what was best for those little bundles of joy! We will be celebrating all of your grandma fun here too!

Barb, I am glad that you got some respite from kitchen duties and a relaxing dinner out. I know how frustrated you must feel over the safety issues with your mom and dad. I hope that rail appears sooner rather than later.

Thiry, sounds like you had a great trip and time at your conference. How did DH do while you were away? I hope he didn't OD on the sweets and things he shouldn't eat, or spend too much money. Friendly question - why do YOU set up DH's meds? Is he not able to do it himself?

Kelly, sounds like you had fun to with your surprise visitors! What a horrendous drive for the kids! Had a few like that, and it is REALLY HARD on the faculties that's for sure. Hope some sunshine is headed your way. Hope your round of meds has helped whatever was ailing you. We turned our fireplace on yesterday, too, and set thermostat for furnace last night. It's been on this morning with it being in the 50s and damp here for the last three days.

Sorry about your allergic reaction, Sunny. Hope you were able to get some relief until you see the doctor.

What is it about the raw potatoes, Kelly? Anyone else know about this old wives remedy?

Well, enjoy your Monday everyone - hope it's not a "moanday".

Guess your bod needed to readjust Thiry, you'll make up for it during the week. I bet the eagles have been looking for you though. Best of everything catching up efficiently today, remember to smile.

It was a wild ride home for the kids...huge accident in the ATL area, 4 hours to get through and of course the gully washers etc that were blowing through didn't help. A 10 hour drive became 14 (or that is what they estimated, I haven't heard if they drove all the way or gave up and stopped).

It'll be quiet around here with the pup gone. If they both didn't work from home, I would almost be tempted to offer to keep her while they finish up the reno on their house. The new cabinets have already been delivered, all in boxes so she keeps getting lost in their maze (just kidding) Good thing they have a big enough room to stash all that.

Got really cold overnight, the house was 66 this morning! Hit the fireplace button it is now toasty in here (68 is fine with me, got my wooly sox on). Still going to be wet but not as bad.

See you all at 3!

BARB – Thank you, I am also keeping my fingers and toes crossed for the job connection. Yes, TSA I almost have to wonder if they have the machine set up to make it look like there is something suspicious after every few scans as I wasn’t the only one that was patted down at the San Diego airport. I’m just glad that I didn’t have to go through that again on the way home.

KELLY – I certainly think so since I have slept most of the weekend away. I didn’t even get any walking in this weekend. How nice to have surprise visits from the family. Sorry you are having gully washers at this time. That kind of weather make is difficult to do much of anything. I hope their trip back to Florida wasn’t as bad as it sounds like it could have been.

SHARON – I’m sure you had a great time babysitting and a sleep over with DGD, how fun. Thanks, it’s good to be home although I really miss the sites from San Diego.

SUNNY – I spent a couple hours at the Denver airport Friday afternoon but didn’t get a chance to take in the architecture as I was inside for that full time. As we were landing and taking off the person by the window had the shade closed so I wasn’t able to look out and see the airport from that view. I would have preferred to be next to the window but by the time I was able to board the plane most of the window seats were already taken. Oh no on the hives. Hopefully you are able to get them cleared up quickly. Yes back to work but not looking forward to it. Of course I will most likely be really busy as I will have a weeks worth of emails to catch up on and the Title XX authorizations that will need to be printed and put into the system so hopefully the day will go by quickly.

MARSHA – Sounds like you had a busy day. Oh how exciting for DD and SIL. I hope all goes well for them and that the adoptions are completed soon.

Wow, what a weekend. Yesterday after getting up, doing a little unpacking and a lot of laundry and washing the dishes in the sink I sat down to watch a couple shows that recorded while I was gone. It took me quite a while to do this as I kept dozing off. I had thought about walking at the lake but by the time I woke up from my nap it was too late to go as it would have gotten dark shortly after getting started. I had planned to clean the bathroom but that didn’t get done last night either. Around 8 pm DH asked about going to a movie and I responded by asking him if he realized how late it was getting. The movie was put on hold until today. This morning I was up and at church by 7:30 to rehearse with the choir for the 8 am service. After church we went to the movie The Fate of the Furious. After that we went home. I sat down to watch a movie and work on my finances but that didn’t happen as I fell asleep again. I started the movie 3 times before completing it and after my naps it was too late again today to go for a walk so I didn’t get any walking in this weekend since getting home. I fixed supper and cleaned the bathroom and now getting ready to set up DH’s meds for the next 2 weeks.

I’m not looking forward to going back to the office in the morning.

Have a great weekend.

Kelly: DEFINITELY agree . . . will be celebrating with Marsha big time!

Well, got that cape starched and I can be like a fly . . . . on doggie doooo . . . when I need to be. So, they’ll get tired of me long before I get tired of trying!

How nice you had your DD and SIL stopped yesterday. Wonderful! Hope they made it home safe and sound.

Uh oh, all hands on deck to help building the ark! Lord.

Raw potatoes for hives? Interesting. I will remember that one!

Sharon: Hope you’re hanging in there!

Sunny: Nice for your son/DIL going to Daytona. I like Daytona Beach.

OH NO ON THE HIVES! Definitely wise to quit the inhaler. Don’t want your breathing to be impacted. YIKES!

Really Sunny??? That is weird and scary to say the least...eating raw potatoes used to help with my hives. Old wives thing from the 40's and still do it when it happens. Good to finish something, it will never be a what if. You seemed to enjoy it anyway.

Our daughter lives less than hour from Daytona. They will enjoy themselves, more so once the weather blows through. It's a bit of a drive up the coast line, there are lots of little towns etc along the way to St. Augustine. Yes, it is always good to know the kids are treating themselves once in awhile.

Today is the single dose of 'roid, I may treat myself to a very slight splash of Irish in my hot cocoa after dinner. It's cold and dank here. Cheers to a new week, have a good one!

How wonderful, a surprise visit Kelly. Our Son/DIL are flying out tomorrow to Daytona. 7 days at a beach front condo. The rarely go any where so I am excited for them.

I woke up this morning with Hives. Ugh...big ones on my face. I am definitely weird looking. I check the side effect of the new inhaler and sure enough, hives were a "severe side effect" so an antihistamine by mouth and topical Benadryl on the hives. I will quit the inhaler and call the doc in the morning.

Tonight is our last Lenten studies. We got behind but wanted to finish it up anyway.

Do have a blessed day!! Thiry, is it back to work for you tomorrow?

Hugs to you all, Sunny

Sunny I think this lousy weather is playing having with our bods! Hope you are feeling better and got to spend some spinnin' time.

Wow Marsha, you are one busy beaver! My heart is ready to explode for the next chapter in those two youngsters, we'll celebrate with you all.

Sharon, busy week end for you spoiling the grand daughter, I know she loved it and has already booked herself another trip.

I can only understand your frustrations on their safety Barb, I know I feel when I read about it so multiply that - here's some more starch for your cape.

Thiry have you recovered from your trip? Sounds like you found your place in one piece.

Had a surprise house full yesterday! Our daughter and son in law were picking up the bonus grandchild in GA so decided another 200 miles up won't hurt, so they headed up then decided maybe they'd better make sure I'm even home so it was not a complete surprise. Too bad the weather was so bad; didn't get to do anything, feel sorry that it is going to be a nightmare going back to Florida due to weather then there is Atlanta. Good ole ATL, one big 12 lane parking lot as it is, then there are major road issues in three spots to add to the delight. (One is where some dweeb set an overpass on fire or something like that) Only downside to that was Kyle and family are in ATL. Maybe they picked a spot to stop, stretch and visit for a few, they were going to be passing each other. If I didn't have the pup I would have gone back with them. I'll likely be down there in a couple of weeks anyway.

Well, we have a break in the gully washers right now. Kind of feel like I should look for the plans for the Arc. It could be worse for sure.

Other than that, nothing new so will join you all for tea in a bit. Hugs and Prayers

Kelly

Sunday – Nice day yesterday. The sun was out, it was windy, but the temp was comfortable . . . about 54F. Not bad.

Went out to supper and that was wonderful. No kitchen duties! Hurray for miracles.

Blessings and hugs.

Marsha: good luck to your DD and SIL!

Quick check in here too.

Kelly: Yes, they did do the drill right. That is a good thing. Now . . . if only the REST of the issues would be handled in that manner. GRRRrrrrr. And that’s about all I can politely say about the safety situation as well.

Poor Grandpuppy. MR. Spot likes his pills in peanut butter. And that makes it hard for him to spit it out! Worth a shot.

Thiry: I am keeping my fingers crossed for you with the job connection.

Good grief! TSA doing their job, eh. **SIGH**

Sharon: GREAT blog! As always.

Have fun with DGD for the sleep over!

Good luck babysitting!

Sunny: Jas was just in Denver 2 wks. ago. The airport is stunning!

Hope your leg starts cooperating!

What is great about the Denver Airport is the architecture. It is amazing. It looks like tents but it's not.

Enjoy the grands, Sharon.

Oh Kelly, that poor puppy. Our Miss Macki was afraid of storms.

I am doing good. Haven't biked for a couple of days due to my leg hurting again but I will bike today.

Take care and do have a wonderful weekend, Team.

Good Morning Ladies! Quick check-in. We get to babysit today, and have to be there by 9:30 so I have time for this, a cup of coffeee, and not much more.

DGD is getting to come home with us later for her first sleepover! We are all excited!

It has been a VERY busy week, as you can probably guess by my being MIA this week.
Hoe your dad is doing well today Barb, and glad mom is in a good mood.

Glad you had a good time at the conference Thiry, and got home safely.

Kelly, sorry about your crud, but glad the meds are helping.

Sunny sounds like you are doing OK, and that's good.

Have a good weekend all. Will probably not be on here much this weekend, but it will be fun to spend so much time with family and grands.

BARB – That is quite a good response time to get all into a shelter in less than 3 minutes. I hope the plan for your dad helps. Sorry to hear that your mom fell again but thank goodness for the mat to keep her from getting hurt. Hopefully things will get resolved soon so the rails can go back on the bed. Thanks, I am hoping that this connection produces a different job that will not be a stressful. I made it back home safely getting to the car by 6 pm then my drive home. Luckily rush hour was over by the time I got to the car and drove home.

KELLY – the trip home was fairly uneventful with the exception that I had to go through the security check twice at San Diego as I didn’t think about the bottle of tea in my carry on as well as the shake I had hoping to have for lunch. I had to go back out and take care of them (drink or dispose) then go back through. The first time they double checked my wrists due to my bracelets but the second time I ended up getting patted down as they “saw something” in the waist to private area. Now the only thing I did while back outside the secure area was to drink the shake and part of the tea before dumping the rest so there shouldn’t have been any reason for something suspicious to show up on the scan. I didn’t even go to the bathroom. I just stood by the spot where the security person took me to then head back into the security check station. Yes I am hoping that something good comes from the connection that I made at the conference.

SHARON & MARSHA - hope you are both doing well.

SUNNY – Thank you. I almost hated having to come home. I spent most of my time in Denver at a charging station recharging my phone battery so didn’t really do any exploring while in Denver.

Well I am back home, getting to the car by 6 pm. I drove home thinking about stopping at the gas station to fill the tank but decided to wait and do that tomorrow. When I got home I drove through the recreation area to check on the eagles before heading to the apartment. I actually saw both and was able to get a picture of both of them in one shot. All other times they were too far apart so I wasn’t able to get them in the same picture. After getting to the apartment and getting my stuff into the apartment I fixed supper then sat down to relax for a little while. At one point I decided to do the few dishes that were in the sink and as I was finishing them DH came home. He was complaining about his right wrist hurting and wanting me to take him to have it checked out. Needless to say I needed to put a little gas in the car to do that. After leaving the clinic we went to Walgreens to fill the prescription and were told it would take an hour (for 3 little pills). I told them to give me the script back as we would wait and take it to Wal-Mart in the morning. We then drove across the street to CVS where they had trouble getting the insurance to take in their system and asked us to give them 10 minutes to call the insurance company. We decided to go inside to wait and within 10 minutes we were walking out with the medicine.

I’m now going to head to bed as I am really tired from the travels.

Have a great weekend.
Thiry

Wow, great job they did on securing during a warning! We've got gully washers going through (another one at the moment), will take that over the thunder that sounded and felt like a bomb dropped this afternoon. I've got the grandpup this week end, poor thing every time I have her the weather is downright ugly and she doesn't do well with it. I tried to give her a happy pill by bribing her with some meat - no luck. Finally got it in her. She is not going to want to come anymore if this keeps up.

Sigh, got nothing else polite to say about your poor Mom.

Thiry, here's to an unadventurous trip home. I hear the Denver airport is really neat, so I'm sure you got some exploring in. And you made some contacts, especially one who will be in the area visiting a local. That is so neat.

Good to see you Sunny. I know time seems to just slip by sometimes, glad to see all is well.

Marsha hope all is quiet on your end and you are able to get some of your projects in order.

Well, let me wrap it up, see you ladies t'morrow. Hugs

Kelly

So glad you Mom was not hurt and yes, any time you get an opportunity, talk to them about the rail.

Tornado drill - Yikes but what a good response.

DH and I went into town to Aldi's. Home now and taking a break before I mix up a Kale Salad to go with our dinner.

Have a GREAT weekend, Team.

Yesterday while @ Mom and Dad’s visiting, they had a tornado drill. YIKES. Got all the residents (and us TWO visitors into safe rooms in under 3 minutes! GREAT!!!!

Dad did indeed have difficulty eating this morning. He has such extreme pain when he gets out of bed. So, I’ve worked with the staff to give him his Aspirin around 4 am so it’s don’t “it’s thing” by the time he gets up. So, we’ll see how it goes tomorrow.

**SIGH SIGH SIGH** Got a call @ 4:15 am (yup . . . . good darned thing I was already up and functioning!). Mom fell again. . . no injuries, though as she fell ON THE MAT. Oh I think I may just re-visit what a good thing it is that I insisted on that and GETTING THE DARNED RAIL BACK ON HER BED!

So glad it’s Friday!

Hugs

Thiry: Kudos on your chance conversation with that lady who gave you her contact info! Maybe something will come of it!

Have a safe trip back!

Sunny: Yup Friday has snuck up again.

Have NO earthly idea what she was looking for, and pretty sure she didn’t either! LOL But it kept her busy and happy, so all was well.

Marsha: Hope you get a chance to breathe today!

Kelly & Sharon: Hope you ladies are having a good Friday!

Hugs and prayers for our soldiers, families and our country. Wearing the RED.

See y’all @ 3 pm for some libation. Definitely.

Mercy, here is it Friday. Where have I been all week? It has been a very busy week.

Today, I should drive into do some grocery shopping but not sure I am up to being away again today. I think I shall bike first then decide.

Barb, had to laugh at your Mom emptying her dresser drawers. Wonder what she was looking for.

Thiry, so glad you have had a nice conference and that you had some time to explore and look around. Do have a safe trip home. Enjoy your layover in Denver. That airport is amazing.

Marsha, busy at work. Just know your are missed.

Sharon, looking forward to your blog today.

Kelly, so happy to hear you are feeling better! My cold resolved itself fairly quickly which made me happy. It means my immune system is operating better. YEA!

I am off to the bike. Love you all, Sunny

BARB – The other days I have eaten the big meal in the evening as I was wanting to see as much as possible during the day so I didn’t want to take the time to sit and eat a meal. Since I have seen most of the area I can walk to the last couple days I decided I would take the time to sit and eat the larger meal at lunch today. Good to hear that your parents were in better spirits yesterday. Hopefully you will be able to figure out what is going on with your dad and his eating. It sounds like your mom was a busy lady going through her clothes.

KELLY – Yes it was a busy day today and hard to believe the last day of the conference. Yes I have a 2 hour 20 minute layover in Denver on the way home tomorrow. No, the office hasn’t cleared up the shuttle situation. I sent a text yesterday at 11:13 am asking for contact information and a confirmation number for the shuttle he arranged to take me to the airport and as of yet I haven’t heard back from him so I have arranged a shuttle to pick me up in the morning. It will be here at 7:12 am so I will have to get up and be ready to go just as if I was attending another day at the conference. I’m glad to hear that you are through the worse of the crud.

SHARON & SUNNY – I hope you are both well.

MARSHA – It sounds like you are really busy with work. I hope you received the information that you needed to complete your work.

Well today was the last day of the conference and after getting down to breakfast about 7 am I figured out that I was free until 9:30 so I went walking during that time. I found an area that I hadn’t checked out so I went through that area then back to the room to get my things to head to my first workshop. At lunch I went and got my bigger meal for the day and picked up a couple magnets and a t-shirt from the San Diego area before heading back to the room to pick up my bag with the conference schedule. Our last session was the meeting of the Mountain region which is the region Nebraska is in. While waiting for the session to start the treasurer and conference chairperson started talking to me and I found out that she is planning a trip to Omaha sometime in May/June time period. I told her that I was going to the east coast the end of May for the wedding. The session then started and after it was over she came up to me and told me to call her and let her know how the wedding went. As we were walking out I was telling her about the bus tour in July. She then asked if I was going to be attending the conference next year in San Antonio. I told her I didn’t know as it would depend on funding and also said to be honest I didn’t know if I would be at the position next year. We talked a little and she said to get her my contact information and she would send me the information for the lady she is planning to see in Omaha when she comes in May/June. She gave me her business card and said to text her and she would send me the contact information.

After taking my stuff to my room I headed out to the wine tasting shop and had a glass of wine and sat just outside the door while I drank the wine and watched the activities on the harbor. I then headed out to see about finding the ice cream shop and get some ice cream as I was trying to find it at lunch but ran out of time. I am now relaxing in my room before packing my stuff so I am ready to go in the morning.

Have a great week
Thiry

Kelly: Yup, heard your laughter! NOW I can laugh about it too! LOL

So glad to hear you're thru the worst of the crud. OH for sure, the 'roids bring out the appetite. **SIGH** Good for you stocking up on freggies.

Missed 3 pm, but it's 4:30 pm and dang . . . I'm having a chocolate martini! Cheers.

Barb did you hear me laughing with you about your Mom? That just tickled me (of course I didn't have to straighten it out, but still). I hope your Dad's issue is just a glitch.

I think if you're going to have a busy day, big lunch would be good Thiry. I think you have a long layover so you'll be getting steps just to keep yourself amused or occupied. I hope your office has straightened out your airport ride by now. I think we all have had that danged error and ended up with multiple posts.

Sunny and Marsha, hope all is well with you.

I'm through the worse of the crud, actually very, very lucky because it was not severe. Downside to the 'roids is it brought my appetite back yesterday. So I'm off for some freggies and stuff will see you lassies later. Hugs

Thursday – Mom and Dad were in good spirits yesterday. Dad is apparently having some difficulty feeding himself in the morning, so I am going to try to get there tomorrow morning early to see what’s going on. He does fine @ lunch and supper. I think he must just have lots of pain in the morning.

Mom was busy emptying drawers and “looking the clothes over.” Lord, took me 1 hr. to get it cleaned and in order again. But she was in a good mood. So be it.

Rained all night but hoping we get a bit of a break today.

Hugs

BARB – Sorry you didn’t get to see your parents yesterday but hoping they are doing well today. Good to hear that your dad is getting accustomed to the new bed.
KELLY – Well I think I might have tried to post for you since mine information posted 3 times. LOL Glad you got to the doctor for your crud. Hope you are feeling better really soon. Thanks, yes the harbor cruise was a lot of fun although the Midway museum would have been interesting also. I sent a text to my supervisor this morning about 11:30 asking for contact information and a confirmation number for the Go Shuttle and as of yet haven’t received any response from him. I won’t get reimbursed for the shuttle trip from the airport to the motel since I forgot to get a receipt but will make sure that I get one for the trip from the motel to the airport on Friday.
SHARON, SUNNY & MARSHA – I hope you all had a good day and that things are going well for all or you.

Sorry that my post is on 3 times. I was trying to post it last night and again this morning and kept getting error messages so I kept trying until I got it to post. Needless to say I had no idea it would post from the errors that I received.

Busy day today with the conference but I did manage to walk over my lunch break and again tonight. I really didn’t think I would be getting this much walking in while I was out here. Tomorrow I think I will have my big meal at lunch so that I can come back to the room after the conference and relax after getting my stuff packed and ready to leave Friday morning. Friday will be a long day as my plane leaves San Diego at 9:30 and I don’t get into Omaha until 5:30 pm. Needless to say I won’t be getting much walking done on Friday.

Have a great week

Wednesday – For only the 2nd time since January I didn’t get to see my parents yesterday. Had to get Mr. Spot to the groomer and I got my hair cut. Nice.

It was a nice day in the 60’s and had some peeks of sun. The grass is really greened up. Looks nice. And lots of buds on the trees, blooming crocus and jonquils and daffodils. The tulips are starting to poke thru, too. Spring is springing.

Well, onward. Busy day. Have to stop by Mom and Dad’s early. Want to see how Dad does with breakfast as the nurse was saying he has a hard time feeding himself @ breakfast. He does fine @ other meals, just not strong apparently in the morning.

Hugs

Sharon: Glad after all that you get a refund! YIKES!

Thiry: Hope all is going well.

Kelly: I really do not know what has to be done to get them to KNOW they have the responsibility to protect Mom and Dad. But rest assured, they’ll hear a few “suggestions” from me today. This is just beyond ridiculous. Oh, and the letter Jason wrote to DHS to get that darned rail put back on was written on his legal stationary. KUDOS.

Dad has finally decided that the new bed is comfortable. PHEW.

Jas was taking the train before, but now, since the office moved a block away from their old location, they don’t have a shuttle bus from the train station to the office anymore. So he drives in. BUT with the 1-2 days working from home, it’s going all right.

OH no. Glad you headed to the walk in clinic. Uh oh, the ‘roid pack and increased appetite. That always happens to me with pred.

Sunny: Hope things are okee dokee w/you!

Hugs and prayers for our soldiers, families and our country.
See y'all @ 3

Well I am really getting frustrated trying to post this message. Last night there was system maintenance and this morning I'm having trouble with the internet.

BARB – I’m so sorry to hear that your mom fell yet again. Hopefully that letter from the doctor will be processed soon and the rails are put back on the bed to help prevent any more falls. Yes I am enjoying the view. I told DH I almost hate to close the shade in the evening and at this point I have only closed it part way so I can still see the water and stuff on the ground around the area.

KELLY – Yes, the view is awesome. I had to catch my breath after seeing that view. I had a really good day today.

SHARON – I just can’t believe that tax preparer took that long to do your taxes. I took mine in on a Friday and the preparer was leaving right after we met to go out of town for a wedding. DH and I stopped in on Monday afternoon, after I got off work. Answered a few questions to clarify things, signed the return and they submitted it. As of yesterday we already have our refund from the IRS and a note from the state about our State refund. Yes the view is breath taking. You are right I am going to hate to leave here on Friday morning and not only because of the view but also because I am so relaxed due to not having the SA and DOFS looking over my shoulder the whole day. Enjoy your time with your DS tomorrow.

SUNNY – I hope you had a good day.

MARSHA – thank you. I am doing my best to check things out.

Oh what a wonderful day today. After checking in this morning and finding out I was free until 1 pm I spent a little time looking over the conference sessions to try to figure out the ones I had picked out when sent an email shortly after registering for the conference. I found out that they didn’t set up specific session for us to attend even though they had us indicate what we were interested in. While I was doing that at a table just outside some of the individual conference rooms the lady from Texas that I struck up a conversation with while on our delay at the Phoenix airport saw me and came over to me, gave me a hug and asked how things were going for me. We talked a little and I told her about finding the wine tasting place last night. She said that maybe she would have to go there with me before we leave to go home. I then came to my room to charge my phone as it was updating all the apps and running the battery down quickly. I then decided to go exploring and took off walking. I ended up by the USS Midway that is now docked in the San Diego Bay and is a museum. I stopped in the information shop and talked to one of the staff. He told me about the Harbor cruises (1 or 2 hour) as well as giving me information on the USS Midway museum. I took the information and walked around a little before deciding on the 2 hour Harbor cruise so I went back and purchased my ticket. I had to wait about 30 minutes for them to start boarding. The first hour was the North Harbor then the docked to allow the people that had purchased a 1 hour cruise to get off the boat and the new group to board then we headed to the South bay for the next hour. By the time we got done I had 45 minutes to get back to my room, get lunch and get to the first session I was scheduled to attend. After the conference was completed for the day I came to my room and got ready to walk around and to find my supper. I ended up walking clear back to the area where I was for the cruise as I was looking for the penny machine I had seen earlier in the day but didn’t have my coin pouch with me at the time. I didn’t find the machine so I am figuring it must have been taken inside the info center when they closed. I then went to an area by the large figures of the soldier kissing his lady and the Bob Hope display before heading back to the area where I planned to get my supper. After eating I walked around a little longer before heading back to the motel. On my way through the lobby I stopped by the concierge desk and asked if they knew anything about the “GO shuttle” that my supervisor has arranged to take me to the airport on Friday. This shuttle was supposed to take me from the airport to the motel on Monday but after asking at 2 different stands and being told by several people that this shuttle had pulled out of the airport months ago so I ended up taking a different one to the motel and of course forgot to ask for a receipt so I won’t get reimbursed for that shuttle expense. The person at the concierge desk tried several times to get through to the GO shuttle but wasn’t able to find out anything. I finally told her that I would stop back in the morning. She asked if I could see about getting some more information from the DOFS about the shuttle arrangements like a confirmation number. I told her that I was planning to try to get some information about this shuttle service. I am really surprised that after not taking the shuttle on Monday that I didn’t receive a phone call as they were supposedly given my cell number.

Well the day and time change is catching up with me so I am heading to bed.

Have a great week
Thiry

Well, I'm loosing my mind - stopped by yesterday and now I realize operator error and didn't post because - well just because I can't remember why I just remember not doing it. Oh well.

What in Heaven's name has to be done to protect your Mom Barb? I hope she continues with the good spirits. How's your Dad, has he finally decided to enjoy his new bed? So Jason is driving into work, somehow I thought he was lucky enough to take a commuter.

Whoop Sharon on getting a refund, I think that tax place owes you all a refund as well. That is just crazy. Ha I'm visualizing hubby taking you to work today, but wait, he's retired so I hope you two are doing something fun. Oh and what a memory to go to the White House Easter Egg Hunt!

You sure had a busy exciting day yesterday Thiry! Happy you were able to do something fun while on business. I hope you get ground transportation figured out (good thing you checked it out early on) and that you can get a receipt for reimbursement. We all know how bean counters are, they've always been that way - sometimes worse than the IRS.

After having a couple of fairly good days with this crud, I woke up yesterday just not feeling right. Doc couldn't see me til Fri, her NP not until late this afternoon. I went with my instincts and headed to the walk in clinic. I have bronchial asthma. She said if I have to use my inhaler as often as I did that morning to get myself checked out pronto. OkeeDokee. This crud is not nearly as bad as what I had 3 years ago, geez it took nearly 2 months to knock it out, so I will take this. The last time I wasted no time getting it checked out because I was traveling in a few days. She was a pulmonary nurse in her other life and gave me a lot of good pointers and reminders. So I have a 'roid pack for the week and we talked it over about an antibiotic and both agreed to no. Then i get a yikes when I picked up the cough syrup, not covered (would have been more surprised if it were) 32 smackeroos...I forgot about asking her if she'd look up goodrx.com, oh well, I can just add it to the pile for taxes next year. Seems like every year the threshold total for when you can actually take a deduction goes up. Tax lady and I are going to sit down after she catches her breath and see what else I can do, two years now I just seemed to miss the mark. Now, if I could have declared Mooch's medical expenses...Thanks required distribution, yes I am very fortunate to have it, more so this year because the year end spike.

Okay will see you lassies later, like tea. Don't think I need anything stronger, supposed to go to a meeting across town at 6 so I'll keep it tame.

Hugs and Prayers

Kelly

Well the day and time change is catching up with me so I am heading to bed.

Have a great week

Tuesday: Well, the phone rang yesterday morning. Mom fell out of bed AGAIN! But she fell on the mat, no injuries. When I saw her in the afternoon she was in good spirits and nothing hurt. GRRRrr. If that letter from DHS to return her farmed rail on the bed doesn’t get processed soon, I am going to scream!

Otherwise, sunny, but cool day, so couldn’t get Mom and Dad outside.

Getting my hair cut and Mr. Spot is getting groomed. We’ll look gorgeous!

Hope it’s a terrific day.

Marsha: Glad the skunk found the trap. PHEW! You worked hard, hope today’s a little easier.

Thiry: What a beautiful view from your room! Wishing you a successful conference.

Kelly: The new office location is about 1 block from the old one. He still does have 1.5 hrs. commute (one way) but can work from home 1-2 days a week, which is a salvation. The hrs. he travels, on the plus side, are not crowded. That’s a good thing.

Sharon. OMG, livid would be the tip of the ice berg!

Glad your new HVAC system is working well.

Glad that your grandies got to attend the Easter Egg Roll.

Morning,
Well going to the CPA office this afternoon and PRAY the taxes are done!!!!! We are both LIVID to say the least! Our former tax guy of 25 years passed away. This is the firm they referred all his clients to. Their "excuse" is that there were more of us than they expected! They also are telling us they are filing in the order we came in, and that they physically scan every single document. This makes no sense to me. Just keep what you need from me, make copies, and keep your copy on file and give me mine! DONE! It has been a month ago today that we went in to give them our tax info. I can't even begin to express how angry and upset I am right now. Had nightmares about this last night, too. We are driving over there and telling them we will WAIT for our return to be done. Don't know what else to do. We have never been in this predicament before.

New system is working well so far, and it is QUIET!

Thiry you sure do have a beautiful view! Be prepared for the emotional crash when you have to leave and go back to work! Also, be prepared to be tired. Conferences are more tiring than we realize as you are on the go more than usual. Having been on " both sides of that fence" I speak from experience. Worked in meeting and convention planning for several years in a former career, and have been an attendee to many more than that.

Sunny, did you get your new system in yet?

Grands and family got to attend the Easter Egg Roll at the White House yesterday. It was rainy, and neither of them looked too happy. I wish we could have been there too, but there is a limit on tickets. Press tried to say it was a failure compared to "previous" years! emoticon Give me a break!

Barb, hope your folks are doing well, and dad is adjusting to his new bed.

Have a good day and please PRAY for me and our taxes will be done this afternoon!

Looks like everyone survived Easter.

Wow, that was a long stint with the grandkids Sharon! Ah the memories you are creating for them though. For sure I'd be looking for a small local tax person - that is just outrageous, it's not like you just dropped them off the week before, I say they owe you a discount for lack of service. By the way, hope the tax goon doesn't have his hand out! Is there a way to tell the people that referred you that they are losers? But hey! You got cool now...I'm going to be curious to see how the new unit lowers your utility bill.

Thiry the view from your room is awesome and you'll be getting lots of steps in just getting from there to there. Enjoy the experience.

Hope things slow down for you at work Marsha.

So Jas is in a different area, moved not just from one office but to a new location? Any time the commute doesn't involve a long drive time is a good thing.

Sunny did you go for too long of a bike ride with your Sis?

Will see you all at 3! Hugs and of course - much prayers

Kelly

Oh, it has been a long day. I was up and at work by 7 this morning then left work just before 11:30 so I could run by the bank and cash the per diem check that I finally received about 9:30-10 this morning. The check was dated 4/5/17 so the DOFS has been holding it for almost a week. It would have been nice to have received it on Friday so I could have cashed it over the weekend instead of having to find a bank in the Omaha downtown area to be able to cash it. Then it was off to the airport for the flight to San Diego. The first leg of the trip was to Phoenix where we had an hour delay before boarding the flight on to San Diego. Even though there are 2 other employees from the sites attending this conference I am basically alone as they are employees of the same site and one of their husbands is out here also so they are spending their time together and with him. After I finally got to the motel and caught my breath from the site out my window and the bellman brought my bags to my room I went walking to look for something to eat as all I had eaten was my breakfast, a serving of pistachios, Nabisco Wheat Thins and Honey roasted peanuts (Omaha to Phoenix) and pretzels (Phoenix to San Diego) so I was really getting hungry. As I was walking around the little shops around the motel I happened on a wine shop so I did a wine tasting. After that I needed to finally get some food. I got my food and came back to my room to eat and fixed a glass of tea to go with my supper. After Dancing with the stars got over and a couple talks with DH I went exploring the hotel. This place is absolutely huge. The first 4 floors are basically lobby and meeting/ball rooms. There are 2 towers with guest rooms with 28 floors (I’m on 15). I did notice in the small booklet that there is a 1.1 mile walking/running trail and a 6.6 mile walking/running trail that goes right along the bay. I might have to do a little more investigating on that tomorrow as it got dark on me tonight while I was looking for some food.

Well the day is catching up with me and I have to be up in the morning for the conference. I will catch up with you all later.

Have a great week everyone.

Barely time to Spark but here goes.
Easter was great. Lots of steps with
working Easter breakfast, chasing the
GC and then cleaning up the basement
and outside shed.
Yes, the skunk found the trap and DH
was able to dispose of it. I don't like
killing any animals but it had to be done.
Worked about 3 extra hours today so
maybe tomorrow will go better.

Hey All! Took somewhat of a Spark break over the weekend after doing the Easter blog.

Between all the goings on with the HVAC research, consults, and install, the hot house last week, and as of this very moment NOT having tax prep done by the "suggested CPA firm", I'm a wreck! We drove over there today, and they said between 12 and 2 tomorrow! Talk about taking it down to the wire! I am furious! If they file an extension and we owe, which we have no idea yet whether or not we do, and penalties are involved, I am going to insist they pay them! We will definitely NOT be using them next year!

Babysat all day Saturday and until 10:30'PM.

Sorry your Mom and Dad were having a good day yesterday, but glad you got them out on Saturday. Glad Jas will get to telecommute a couple of days a week, and you both had a nice holiday together, and the dinner with your mom and dad. Glad your mom enjoyed the Easter cocktail. Did the Baileys help the taste.

Raised a toast to your John on Friday, Kelly.

Thiry, glad you could get out of work by 3 on Friday. You needed that! Not sure I'd trust those gals. Good luck on the job search. Hope you find something to get you out of there.

Marsha, hope you get that skunk, and you had a nice Easter.

Sunny, how's your hubby's eye? Hope you enjoyed your Easter with your sis yesterday.

Have a good evening all.

Kelly: Jas will figure out which days are at home days depending on what the responsibilities are. So, it’ll vary. That’s all right. Just glad he’ll had that break from commuting.

Awwww, glad you’ll join us @ 3 even if it’s tame!

HUGS

Not much going on in this part of the world, dull and boring - thank goodness!

Hopefully Mom and Dad are in better spirits today Barb. Has Jason decided which days are at home ones or is this an all it depends routine?

Sunny how is hubby's eye?

Thiry, happy travels and I concur on the search for a new desk. Geez.

Sharon has the Easter bunny gone and hid you along with the eggs?

I'll see all you all at 3 but have training at the State Troopers so it'll be tame. I think I used my allotment over the week end anyway. Meanwhile, hugs and prayers all around.

Monday: Had a low key Sunday. Visited my parents and unfortunately, neither Mom nor Dad were having a good day. UGH. Hoping today is a better day for them.

We did have a nice Easter. Jas and I went for a walk on a local walking trail. Nice day. Sunny, wasm, beautiful.

That’s about all the news that is fit to print from here. Back to the routine of the work week today.

Thiry: Glad you could get out of work by 3 on Friday. You needed that!

HUGS and hope you do find something. Tis job is making you understandably miserable.

Kelly, Sunny, Sharon: Here’s to a good Monday.

HUGS and prayers for our soldiers, country and families.

Hope to see y’all @ 3!

BARB – Thank you. I am hoping that I can find something before they decide to let me go for doing my job. I am hoping for an uneventful trip to and from San Diego as well as a calm relaxing time away from the office. Good to hear that you and Jason got to have lunch. Good to hear that your parents had a good day yesterday. Hope you enjoyed you lunch with you parents. I’m glad that you were able to get your parents out for a while and that your dad enjoyed the time out. Sorry about the back pain, there isn’t much worse than back pain. Glad he finally took the Tylenol for it. Happy Easter to you also.

KELLY – Love your Easter bunny and the verse, very cute. I raised a glass to John after I got home Friday night as well as my family and a couple friends that are also looking down on us.

SHARON – Good to hear that the furnace/AC/water heater have all been installed. Your Easter Bunny Cocktail sounds good but I didn’t have all the ingredients to make it so will have to try it another time.

SUNNY – Thank you. I hope I can possibly find something a little closer to the apartment so I can save on travel time but need to find something that pays similar to what I am currently getting. You are so right about the restrictions and they make it almost impossible to do my job. Good to hear that you are feeling better from your cold and hoping you get rid of it completely soon. Happy Easter to you also. I hope you enjoyed the buffet and getting away from kitchen duty.

MARSHA – I hope you have received your taxes by now. Oh no on the skunk. Hopefully you were able to catch it.

Well it has been an interesting but busy couple days. Friday at work I hardly talked to anyone. The recruitment/retention specialist stopped by putting her arms around my shoulders and leaning in real close and said that it looked like I was a little sad and that she was there for me. I didn’t say much but after she went on to her work area I had to get out of there as I was about to cry. I went to the bathroom then walked around the building a little before going back into the office and my work area. Later the benefits specialist stopped by and asked if I was all right. At that time I told her I was getting a headache (which I was as well as feeling like I had an elephant on my chest) and she was satisfied with that and went on to her work area. Around 1:30 we were all informed that the CEO had sent notice that the office could close at 3 for Good Friday so a little after 2 I went to the DOFS’s office and asked if it was all right to leave then since I normally leave at 3 and the office was closing at 3. He said yes that was fine so I got the heck out of there. I went to the gym and did my workout as it was raining that day.

Saturday I got up and ran a couple errands then back home to do some cleaning, laundry and preparing for Easter and my trip to San Diego. Around 2 I went to Wal-Mart as DH had scheduled an eye appointment since he lost his glasses Friday on the way to work. After paying the copay I went to do some shopping for a few things that would be needed for the trip and for DH while I am gone. After getting home and putting groceries away I went for my walk. As I was walking in I noticed one of the eagles on the edge of the nest and it looked like a lot of activity going on at the nest. When I got to the point where I needed to decide if I was going to walk the whole lake or turn and head back home I called DH as there was some storms popping up around the area as I was leaving for my walk. DH told me to play it safe and make the turn to head home so that is what I did. As I was walking past the eagles nest on my way home there was a guy in his car taking pictures and from what I could see it looked like a little head in the nest with one of the parent eagles. I walked up to his car and asked if it looked like a couple extra heads in the nest and he said as of Tuesday 2 eggs had hatched so we now have 2 baby eagles to watch. This guy also told me that this is the second year in this nest for this pair of eagles and that last year they had 1 baby.

This morning I had to be at church by 7:30 to practice with the choir to sing at the 8:00 service. We were expecting to sing out Easter anthem but ended up singing that song, the one we were planning for next week and a verse from 2 of the hymns for the service. Needless to say we had a lot to prepare in the 20 or so minutes we had to rehearse this morning. After church we came home and I prepared the scalloped potatoes. DH has spent most of the day sleeping while I prepared lunch, made a couple batches of granola bites, finished laundry and prepared my list of stuff to pack for the trip. As of Friday I didn’t have my per diem check for the meals so I am hoping that I get it early enough tomorrow so I can have time to get it to the bank before I have to head to the airport.

Have a great week everyone.

Sunday: Turned out to be a beautiful day. Got up to 70. Was able to take Mom and Dad out and Dad really enjoyed it. Well, Mom did, too, but especially Dad.

I was sad that Dad was having back pain, though. Finally got him to take some Tylenol and he was more comfortable.

The luncheon surprised me a bit. I figured it would be ham but the entrée was turkey. Served w/boxed potatoes and Stove Top Stuffing. There was asparagus as well. I could eat the asparagus. The turkey, unfortunately, was pretty salty. But everyone else seemed to enjoy it. I am just sensitive to the taste of salt.

Dessert was cherry cheese cake. I couldn’t have that either but everyone seemed to enjoy it. That was all right. I got to meet several other families whom I’d not met before. That was nice. I did enjoy that.

After the luncheon we sat on the little patio and Dad and Mom soaked up the sunshine.

So, it was a nice Saturday. That was our Easter. We will probably have our very first cook out today – just not up for cooking a huge meal for the 3 of us. I think part of it is just remembering that Mom and Dad were here with us last year @ this time. Anyhow, just a low key day.

Blessings and Happy Easter.

Marsha: Oh no on the skunk. Hope it goes into the trap. **SIGH** They’re usually rabid if out during the day.

Sunny: Have a good time with your Sis. Yes, buffets require a little skill!

Sharon, Thiry, Kelly: Happy Easter!

Hugs and prayers for our soldiers, families and our country.

See y’all @ 3 pm. Mom enjoyed her lil chocolate cocktail yeseteray!

What a day of rejoicing this is for us!

I pray you all have had a Blessed Day. We just got home from Church and are waiting on Sis to get here then will make our way to a local restaurant that is serving a Buffet today. I usually don't do good with Buffets but have decided to choose wisely.

Hugs to you all, Sunny

Kind of a mixed up day.
I dressed the altar early this morning.
I had plans to do other things but we had
a skunk in the backyard and I needed to
keep an eye on it until DS could come and
shoot it. It is not normal to see they out during
the day. By the time he got here, it had crawled
into a newly dug hole under the shed. So we
set a trap and will see if we can catch. Too many
children and dogs in the neighborhood to let it live.
I boiled the eggs so the GC could dye them.
I will bake the cinnamon rolls in the morning.
Rain early this morning and a cold front went
through so the nigh is chilly.
Have a wonderful Easter!
