BARB – Wow, what a trip. Glad you made it safely. Sorry you are having so much trouble with the staff and their not working with you on the rehab for your mother.
KELLY – No new news on my brother at this time. I made the comment that he gets to lay around because he had told us Wednesday that when the doctor wouldn’t let him drive while he was staying home he started walking on the treadmill a couple times a day. When he went back to the doctor and the doctor found out he told him no exercise so not much he can do until they get the results of the tests and decide what he can and can’t do. I am using the “random” mode on the treadmill. Sometimes the incline gets a bit much so I decrease it to a point I can handle then when it decreases some I increase it again otherwise it goes into a decline (negative incline).
SHARON – Thank you, I know it doesn’t matter how long it takes to do the 5K, I just want to make sure that I feel up to walking for any length of time that it takes to complete it. My back is feeling pretty well but having a little trouble with my right knee right now. It is hurting and once in a while it feels like it is going to give out on me. I would have liked to get R&R this weekend but that wasn’t in the cards. No trips to the gym either.
SUNNY – Thank you, I never dreamed that I would do a 5K so plan to take it slow and easy and if I do any others I will work towards decreasing my time and maybe some time in the future I can try running part of one. Good luck with the Loop Recorder, hope that it helps to find out exactly what is going on and help to resolve the problems. That was quite the dream. Hope that you are doing better.

It’s been a really busy weekend here for me. After the gym and dancing Friday my legs have been a bit sore the last couple days. Friday when I got off work I was heading home and called my BFF. The client that had been in the hospital the last 2-3 weeks was being returned to her apartment so and since I had to work the weekend I stopped by to get the information on what needed to be done for her with her return. My BFF had hired a person to stay with her from 9pm to 5 am but she had never worked with this person before so I came went home to try to rest before heading back to stay with the new girl from 9 to 11 pm. She was doing fine especially for her first night so I left and went home as I had to be back at 6 am to do morning rounds. When I got back I found out that the husband was a little upset and said that the worker was too immature to do the job and that he ended up having to get his wife up because she couldn’t get it done. After getting morning work done and going back to check on this lady I finally left about noon to head home. I didn’t get there as my BFF wanted to talk about some things so I spent the afternoon with her. I thought we had decided that I would come back at 9 pm and stay til 1 am with the new worker and then my BFF would come in at 1 and stay through the rest of the shift so we could work with her and help her get to know how to work with this lady. It ended up that I spent the night with this client. So except for the couple hours I ended up sleeping on my BFF’s couch before doing evening rounds I hadn’t had any sleep to prepare for an overnight shift. I made it to about 3:30 then dosed off for about 2 hours. I started getting the lady cleaned up and to the chair in the living room at 5:30. After doing this and the morning work my BFF and I went to breakfast so we could talk about how the night went. I told her I know exactly why the new girl had problems getting the lady up as I had some trouble myself. The lady didn’t want to get up when I started trying to get her up and she grabbed the side rail with a death grip. I even told her husband that I thought I was going to have to get a crow bar to get her to release the railing. After breakfast I came home and went to bed and slept for about 4.5 hours.

Hopefully this week will be a lot quieter than the weekend was. I hope you all have a great week.

Thiry

I'd go right to the top - do not pass Go!!!!! I'd get a consultation with a lawyer that specializes in malpractice. Do you have a lawyer friend that could draft a letter to the hospital administrator?
I'll be keeping you in my prayers still . . . Hang in there and this is a vent free zone, so let us be your sounding board.

Safe travels to John tomorrow. Too bad he can't stay a little longer. I feel your pain - we all do.

Hang in there, Barb . . . we're all here by your side.

I asked that question -- which Dr. -- the one on the discharge paper or the one who actually took "care" of her?? NO answer -- imagine that. Do have a call in. Awaiting that call back. Think I"ll get one today??

That is exactly what I thought, Kelly. Wonder which doc thought she was medically stable? With Medicare, you do have the right to questions a discharge and the administration has to answer to Medicare as to why they made that decision. I second Kelly's thought on contacting the Administrator or CEO or anyone who is in charge today.

This is just for you, Barb, and my heart goes out to your Mom and Dad and you too.

Do keep us posted and know I will be praying. They were probably relying on the facility to give her the rehab. yie, yie, yie!

4 more inches of snow but we still made it into Church - rode with our son who has a 4 wheel drive. I was surprised how much had melted by the time we got out of church. The class I was suppose to teach was empty so I went to DH's class. Now we are home but going into town later to pick up a few necessities.

Don't wait until tomorrow, insist on talking to the Admin or CEO today and I would be in the face of the hospital too. If your Dad can register and link into your Mom's insurance on line he can go ahead and do that now. He may have to call to confirm it. (Is he even registered to obtain information?) I wasn't but did it on line, fortunately nothing had to be confirmed over the phone because he was in no shape to do it and he really would have been screwed)

Twins, hmmmm - hilarious!!!

Makes you wonder, which Doc thought she was medically stable? Her Doc or the wrong one of record?

Deep breath Barb, in..... out..... breathe

Kelly: That's only the tip of the iceberg. Yes, tomorrow I call to get on the list to get insurance info.

My brother is putting together a letter to the CEO about all of this. Can you believe it?

This charge nurse was a total ARSE! We asked for discharge criteria. What's that? ARE YOU BLOODY SERIOUS! Her response was "Well, the Dr. felt she was medically stable." All righty then . . . based on the fact that she still had the catheter in and we don't know if she can void on her own or . . . wait, wait . . . she still had a bloody IV in!

My brother (he's 6 ft. 4 in. and a big guy) and I stood there "chatting" with her and my brother thought he'd throw a little levity in there. When I introduced he, he chimed in "We're twins." MY GOD . . . I'm 4 ft. 10.5 in, blonde he's dark haired, etc. . . . she BOUGHT IT! Are you friggin' kidding me!

Oh good Lawd, go out to work and play for the day and find that it all hit the fan with your Mom, Barb. I am sure everyone else can be heard yelling WTH, that is just crazy.

The hospital is wrong in not giving you the option to challenge her discharge. You may end up paying $$$ for that day, I did and won the challenge, got that back. They took full advantage of your Dad not thinking or knowing about her "rights" as a patient. You all are supposed to have final say as to where she goes, be given the opportunity to check the place out, etc, and to think they were told early on about bringing her to your area and they ignored it. I'm am looking through my stash of stuff with some guidelines that I dug up that may help if you need it I hope t it is still on the computer because I don't have a hard copy. So you go girl, let them know that they are Messin' with the wrong Mighty Might!!! I pray she had comfortable night, as did your Dad. Get her out of there and now. There must be a state patient advocacy hotline to contact, I don't know where to tell you to look for it; probably buried in the stash of admitting papers. How that hospital handled everything is unacceptable. I would be on that hospital's administrators door right about now. I'm so mad for her right now I can't think straight, so I can just imagine what you are going through. Also, if your Dad hasn't already done so ask him to put you and your brother on the cleared list with her insurance so that you can talk to them about this mess. Your Mom is supposed to have a case manager as well. When Dad or you call, insist on talking to a supervisor if she isn't given a case manager and request it (over and over and over). I sure hope you get her out of that hell whole today.

I'm sure your grandson will get his grade up, nothing like the shame of missing an event due to grades to get their attention (ask my son). Nice you get to spend time with your son,let him be the taxi, all because of the weather. Let's hope March is not a lion this year.

Oh Sharon, that little Leah is a heartwarmer for sure. Sounds to me like she invited you to come sooner than later.

Our CERT group represented OEM at a Severe Weather event yesterday and someone was talking about that lady. I hadn't heard it, oh wow, thank God for sending a curious photographer out and about.

Geez Barb, John is going back so soon? Well, guess it is better to have him home even for a little bit of time.

Hugs to all of you, be safe and warm. See ya at 3!

Saturday night/Sunday: We just got back from IL and it is late. It was NOT a real great day. ** SIGH**

Mom was relatively calm most of the day. That part was good.

I am livid because she had NO physical therapy what-so-ever today. Reason? LIMITED STAFF. WTHECK!

There were inaccuracies for her medications. OMG

They had the wrong Dr. listed for her attending! HOLY LAW SUIT!

We found out @ 1 pm that Mom was being transferred to a rehab facility @ 4 pm. Jeez Louise. This time it DID happen (unlike yesterday). I rode with the ambulance driver and HE DID NOT KNOW WHERE THE FACILITY WAS. OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG It's a bloody good thing I was riding along!

That brings us to the facility itself. She will NOT stay there. NO WAY JOSE. To begin with the paramedics got her unloaded from the ambulance and NOBODY WAS THERE TO MEET US. ARE YOU SERIOUS! Got her settled in her room. Cannot even go into how I found the facility to be. That's for another day. For now, documenting my arse off and getting them up here pronto.

Got Mom settled, she was scared and frightened and had so much happen yesterday. But we had to leave to go back to IL **SIGH** My heart is broken. I wish we could have stayed overnight, but that just wasn’t possible.

Dad is totally exhausted and I’m beyond worried about him too. OMG

How sweet that Leah is "waiting for you" grandma. She misses you. Talk about melting your heart.

DH is much better. He slept good Friday night and had a much better day yesterday.

Ole man winter arrived again yesterday. You would think he would know we are so done with him but he came again. Our snow stopped around 7 pm but Hannibal go quiet a bit more. We will get out to Church this morning with our son. He just lives south of us and has a 4 wheel drive. Yea.

Barb, how frustrating. I hope you get everything straightened out and you can get Mom closer to you all.

Kelly, saw a most interesting report on the news about a woman from Franklin, Tenn. who got stuck in a ditch. She got out of her car to go for help and ended up frozen to the ground. A man who lives in the vicinity was taking photos of the weather and found her in time and got her some help Mercy! PTL for that!

I am off to the shower. Do have a very blessed day.

Love you all. Sunny

Sorry to hear about your mom, Barb. Hope everything gets straightened out, and will ask God's help for you in that regard in my prayers.

Sunny, sorry your DH is not feeling well. Hope it quickly dissipates. Have confidence that your DGS will work hard to bring up that grade. I'm sure he will just so he can play in the tournament. Fingers crossed, but am feeling good about it. Hope you stay well.

Thiry, hope you get a little R&R this weekend. emoticon

Kelly, hope you are doing OK, and having some fun, too!

Got to talk with DS and GD and see GS. He is getting so big, and seems very alert. Leah told me "she is waiting for me", and I assume that means to come and visit soon. She can now count to over 10, and while we were on the phone she was playing hide and seek with mommy. She hasn't quite grasped the concept that while one person counts, the other goes and hides. She would stand and count with DIL. emoticon It was so cute! She went out and built another little snowman today. Glad she is getting some use from her Christmas snow-pants present from us.

Have a good one everyone! Hugs to all!

Saturday – on the way to see Mom again early this morning. Yesterday was replete with more drama than I care to have repeated.

Short version is Mom was supposed to be transferred to a facility near their home in IL. I was upset about it because was working on getting her in a rehab facility up here so I could help Dad. GRRRrrr.

Dad called late in the afternoon – she’d not been transferred. I am just livid

We just got back from IL and it is late. It was NOT a real great day. ** SIGH**

No, I don't have to carry the machine around. If I am gone from the house for a day, it will download any collected information when I return home and automatically sends it to the doctor's office. There is always that chance of something happening when I am "out of range" but for the most part, I will be within range.

The Chess Tournament is on the 14th. William's dad told me last night he has to get a grade up or he won't be able to play. Ugh! We will see.

DH doesn't feel the best today with this cold bug he has so Lenten Studies it out for us tonight. I would go but not driving until I get the "green light" from the docs and they are saying no way for now.

I agree with you Sharon on the 5K. Whatever it takes, Mama, you are still way ahead of any one on the couch. It is a great effort and you are to be applauded!

See you all tomorrow. Hugs, Sunny

Barb, hope your Mom had a comfortable night and is settling in. Sent lots of prayers up for all of you, and I am so sorry that you had such a bear of a trip to get there. Hope the weather was better on the way back! How wonderful for John to get to see your parents, too! I hope you all get to enjoy some fun, family time while he's here. Also hope that you get the rehab facility issue straightened out. Can they do that across state lines without a problem? I'm clueless.

Sunny, glad you go to see the doctor today and hope that what they are proposing is the ticket to helping to solve this puzzle. Do you have to carry that machine around the house and everywhere you go? What if you are not near it and something happens?
Wow! Sounds like maybe something is going on if you had that extreme experience while you were sleeping. Good luck to your grandson in his chess tournament this weekend! I'll have to watch Searching for Bobby Fischer again now. emoticon

Kelly, sounds like a fun evening, and only $5.00 for dinner - what a deal!!!!! Fiddler on the Roof is a great play. Sounds like you guys got some snow yesterday. . .

Thiry, wishing your brother good luck with his biopsy. It doesn't matter how long it takes you to do the 5K, only that you finish, and I know you can do it! You've been a real trooper about going to the gym and getting on the treadmill. By the way, how is your back doing these days?

Not much going on here. Hope you all have a great weekend!
Catch ya later!

Keep us posted. I haven't made it to the sun room yet but it is waiting for me.

I had the weirdest dream last night that I was standing on the edge of an abyss and I was dizzy and was trying my best not to fall. Yikes! When I woke up, I was grasping the covers. Wonder if I did indeed have a spell while I was in bed. I think the loop recorder is going to bring me some peace too. I realized after I got up that I am somewhat fearful of another fall and rightfully so.

Have a blessed day. Hugs, Sunny

How frustrating to go through all that to get there then have to turn around and get back home. Wow! Do let us know what you hear today. Hope they find a place close to you all. Praying for the best for all involved. You would think your Brother would understand the importance of getting Mom closer to you during this time.

The Cardiologist office just called. All my lab work is OK so it is a go on the recorder. Scheduling will call either today or Monday.

Take care and have a blessed day. Get some rest when you can.

I am off to the sun room and my Sunday School lesson for Sunday.

Friday: Well the trip down to IL was less than stellar for sure. We were going to leave and it started snowing . . . almost a white-out. Looked @ the radar. Figured, dang, well, have to wait till maybe 9 am when the front passes. S0 . . . that’s what we did. HOWEVER, there were so many accidents, including a jackknifed semi that traffic was backed up for MILES. Then we got to the IL border, and the snow started . . . again. It took is 3 hrs. to get there.

Mom was extremely confused between the Alzheimer’s and meds and being in an unfamiliar place w/unfamiliar people. The discharge planner was ALREADY getting a bed in a rehab place NEAR MY FOLKS. GRRRRRRRRRRRRR. So dealt with that to see what is going to be done about it. Have to wait to hear back tomorrow (had to come back to WI because both Jason and Clara work).

It was great that John got to see my parents. That lifted my Dad’s spirits immensely. Absolutely glad that was possible! He is only able to stay till Monday, but I am counting myself blessed!

So, this is one tired Mom and lots of work ahead. Hoping prayers cover it all!

Mama: Glad you got to see your brother. Prayers!

Some people just need to grow up, don’t they! Hope the time sheets got done and payroll ultimately completed!

Good for you for keeping up w/the gym! Stress reliever for sure.

Kelly: It is so good to have John home. I feel so blessed that he was able to see my parents yesterday. We will go again tomorrow. Long days, but hey, we do what we have to do.

Love Fiddler on the Roof!

Sunny: Confusion reigns with Mom. **SIGH** Can only keep re-orienting her.

Yes, the implants are very small! Wishing you luck. You’re right . . . one step closer to the ultimate “why”. HUGS HUGS HUGS

Barb, praying that your Mom does well and is not too confused with being in a new place. So glad you are able to be there with her. I agree with Kelly, you have got some serious spoiling to do.

$5.00 a meal at your local Theater. That is amazing. I am sure the show was good too, Kelly.

Thanks, Thiry, and best wishes to you on your 5K. That is quiet the undertaking. Do keep us posted on your Brother. I agree with Kelly that you would make a great advertisement for the gym.

Sharon, I agree with this may be the catalyst to get everyone on board for moving Barb's Mom and Dad closer to her. Praying it all works out the best for everyone.

I made my appointment, actually early as the doc's office called and they needed me earlier as doc had an emergency surgery. He said I have what is called Paroxysmal Supraventricular Tachycardia but not sure just to what extent so I will be getting an implant to monitor my heart. It is called a Loop Recorder and is implanted in his office. I will go home with a machine that will send back reports to his office any time I am within 6 feet of the machine. If they (the doctor's office) should see anything that alarms them, they will call me immediately. It is amazing as I saw the Loop Recorder and it is so small, about 3/8" wide and less than an inch long. Amazing what they can do these days. The office will call today or Monday to schedule the implant. I feel like we might be getting closer as to the "why" I took that fall. The cardiologist is not sure about the "seizure" so we shall see.

Take care, do have a Fab Friday, don't forget to wear your Red, and look forward to the weekend.

Hugs, Sunny

Barb, hope your Mom had a comfortable night and is settling in. And that you are taking care of yourself...just saying. You've got some serious spoiling to do.

Congrats to your grandson Sunny!!! He has become quite the chess champion, and it's exciting that you will be able to watch him in action. I hope you got some more answers from the cardiologist too.

Thanks for the update on your brother and will pray his biopsy goes well, made me laugh with your he gets to lay around, sometimes frustrations come out funny.

You will be fine at that 5K and there is no shame in an hour time. Are you doing interval times and using the incline mode? Thiry, I think that gym should use you as a poster child of success and determination. Looks like some of your coworkers are not used to having a take charge woman around.

The sun quickly took care of the snow yesterday and warmed up nicely but sure got cold when the sun when down. Saw Fiddler on the Roof last night, finally (was supposed to go Saturday but stayed home with the icy roads). Our local community theater does an awesome job bringing in talent from all over the area and dinner is only 5 bucks more. It'll be cold today but will take it since it will be dry.

Hi Sharon, hope all is quiet on your end.

Well, it's Friday and I'll proudly have my RED on. See all y'all at 3!

BARB – I am so sorry to hear about your mom. I hope she is doing better. I’m glad to hear that you are feeling better. Enjoy your time with John
KELLY – Well what a difference a day makes. After the 46 on Monday we had sleet and snow yesterday and only a high of 13 today with wind. There wasn’t much of the wet stuff though as we don’t have anything left today from the snow yesterday.
SHARON - thank you for the prayers for my brother. He looked a lot better than what I was expecting after hearing that he had been transported by ambulance from the hospital near his home to Clarkson hospital here in Omaha. He gets to lie around and rest today while waiting for meds to get out of his system so they can do the biopsy tomorrow. We went to the hospital last night but I had to work tonight so didn’t get there today.
SUNNY – Not a problem Sunny, that’s what we are all here for. We need to keep supporting each other. As for the treadmill I feel that I need to be increasing my time on the treadmill so that I am ready to walk the 5K on 3/21. I figure it is going to take at least an hour to walk it so need to be doing that on the treadmill to get ready for it. It is amazing how fast inactivity can affect our bodies. Just a couple weeks for me last year and I had to practically learn to walk all over because of it. Just take it slow and work up to the longer periods of activity. There is no way I could have done this even 6 months ago. Good luck at the cardiologist. Congrats to the grandson. I hope he does well at the championships. I don’t know of any liver disease but he did have a kidney removed many years ago. Last night he made the comment about how he should have kept drinking if he was going to have liver problems anyway.

I started to do a post last night but ended up checking on something else and never got back to it before falling asleep from exhaustion. It was a really busy day at work. The payroll period ended yesterday but we also needed to get payroll done and submitted yesterday. All the master teachers acted like they didn’t know that they needed to do the time sheets early. I had to run to the other site to get their time sheets and when I got there I only had 15 of the 67 time sheets that I needed and had 2 already on my desk so I was missing 50 time sheets. I went to the receptionist and laid the list of employees on the desk and told her I was missing all these time sheets and asked if she could call to see if the master teachers could get them done and to me. She went off on me and proceeded to argue with me for almost 5 minutes about how I “didn’t need to treat her that way” and that I didn’t need to throw the paper at her. I told her that I didn’t throw the papers and that I asked her to call to see about helping to get the time sheets together. She then proceeded to ask me if I was going to stand there and wait for them. I said yes I need them so I can process the payroll and submit by 4 pm so they can get paid on Friday. I ended up sitting and waiting for 45 minutes for all but 6 of the time sheets I needed. Then I had to go to the 3rd site and when I got there the site director went off about how she hadn’t been told that time sheets needed to be done before the end of the day. I ended up staying an hour and a half after I should have gotten off work to make sure that the payroll was done and submitted. Today I had the site director talking to me about the diapers and how the process was going to work. I told her I didn’t know but would see what I could find out. She then started in about how if she had to start running to pick up diapers she wasn’t going to be a happy woman. An hour or so later my boss called in response to my text and I was telling him about the meeting with the site director. After we discussed the diaper plans I told him between yesterday and today I felt like I was being bombarded by people. He said “don’t let them do that to you. If they have questions have them talk to me”. I was really impressed with his response.

I went to the gym alone again tonight. I did 60 minutes on the treadmill along with some of the other exercises that the trainer set up for us then sat in the massage chair for about 30 minutes. After that I went to work and was a little early as they had music for the residents. I went to the hall and stood outside the room listening to the music. One of our client’s daughters and her husband were there also. She and I ended up dancing in the hall and at one point we did the “stroll” up the isle between the chairs in the hall around the front and back down the aisle and out the door. The clients were all clapping while we were dancing. Needless to say between the time at the gym and about 15 minutes of dancing my legs are letting me know about it tonight.
Well better get a shower and get to bed. Have a great day tomorrow.
Thiry

Yes indeedy . . . it is great to have him home! Don't know if I'll let him go!

It was very good to see Mom today, and my brother was there, so that at least made things a little better.

Mom -- totally, utterly confused. It is Alzheimer's, meds, and unfamiliar place/people. I honestly pray that she'll cooperate w/PT.

So , , , , the race begins. LONG day. Chat tomorrow!!!

emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon to John! So very glad he made it safely home!! Oh, I'll bet he's just suckin' all that spoiling up BIG TIME! How long is he home for?

So happy to read that the break was a clean one, albeit, sorry it had to happen. . . So glad he's getting to see his Grandma and Grandpa and spend time with them, too. This will do your mom a world of good too, and hopefully help to take her mind off of things!
Maybe this was God's way of answering your and your brother's prayers about getting them to move near you. Most definitely is getting your dad to look at something he's resisted for so long. . . Safe travels to your where your folks are. Prayers will continue.

Kelly and Sunny, hope you are safe, too. We got snow last night and this morning, too. Got out to shovel. Dang was just getting back to normal after last weekend!

Sunny, will keep you close in thought this afternoon re; your appointment.

Barb, so happy that your Mom's break was a clean one and that the surgery went well. Now how about God's intervention with the rehab. I am so glad you Father can see that they need to be closer to you all. I just know that in spite of the situation that you are enjoying John being home. Take it easy, you bossy beaver!

Kelly, I am picking up some flat out as soon as I can. Thanks a million, can't wait to try it.

Thiry, so sorry to hear about your Brother. Has he had liver disease in the past? Do keep us posted and know I will be praying.

Woke up to a winter wonderland once again. DH is sick with a cold so hoping he feels well enough to take me in for the appointment.

Take care and do have a Terrific Thursday.

Kelly: Well, both my brother and I spke. w/the discharge planner and there IS no choice about HOME. It’s a rehab facility for sure. So, the issue is finding one HERE so Dad has a place to stay (with us) and we can see her daily and keep tabs on her. THAT way, too, eases the way into “You’re going to stay here!” Dang.

OH yea, got the spoiling thing going on BIG TIME! That is fun, I must admit. And we had cocoa last night! Wahoo!

Just checking in on you Barb...whoop whoop John made it in OK with no delays and you've already got the spoiling going on? It'll be a good dose of medicine for Nana to see him...

Thanks for the update on Mom, that was good news on a clean fracture. AND more importantly hope that your Mom had a comfortable night. (Aren't those little pain pumps the best invention?)

I would be surprised if she even has a choice of rehab or home. I wanted John to come home too; it did not take me long post op to realize that I could not do it alone. Deep breath, I do not envy this task (yes he was quite the sailor mouth that I would even consider putting him away). Sometimes the kids have to be the sneaky pete's, my kids called it payback. Check in as needed Barb, go spoil that kid and your Dad. We'll keep the mugs of cocoa going.

I'll have to back and see what post I missed on your brother Thiry. Prayers added though.

Snow overnight, started spitting later than expected and got about what they predicted. To the south and east got it good though.

Thursday – Off early to see Mom. She had surgery yesterday and the surgeon was pleased. The fracture was a “clean” fracture, there was no shattered bone, so that made the “fix” easier. So . . . now it’s recuperation and that’s the LONG journey.

Right now planning to meet with the surgeon and the discharge planner to get the “ducks in a row” for arranging rehab UP HERE. I don’t quite think Dad grasps the idea that it is going to be SIX WEEKS of rehab. EVERY DAY. I would much prefer having her in a rehab facility here where *I* can keep an eye on her as well. The more eyes that are “watching” the better the care.

John came in last night!!!! HE LOOKS GREAT! So there you have it. The REALLY GOOD with the really sucky! That’s life, isn’t it!

I will be MIA till probably Friday, so thanks for all the support and I’ll update you.

Kelly: Same here with the stairs. She will only be @ 50% weight bearing right now, but hopefully by the time rehab is done she’ll be able to do full weight bearing. BUT they still cannot go back to that condo. Dad FINALLY is beginning to realize that. Working with the discharge planner and surgeon today to see what we can do to get rehab up here! That way they can stay with us, too post rehab (well, Dad would stay with us while Mom did rehab). Another day. . . sheesh!

Definitely doing the burst with DS home. Can’t believe it! What a blessing. For sure!

Yes, ate pretty normally yesterday. Sooooo, there you go. PHEW on that one.

Mama: Prayers for your brother. HUGS

Sunny: Mom did have the surgery yesterday. She did a great job on that fracture – no really. Clean break, no fragments (saw the x-ray) so the pinning was rather routine (as routine as it gets for an 86 yr. old.) Yeah, she’s decked out on Morphine.

Sharon: Yes, we are sneaky pete's. Going to talk w/the discharge planner today and THEN she'll formulate the plans. She knows I'm a nurse (She wasn't too happy at first! Figured I'd be a bossy beaver. But now we understand we're both on the same page. SHEESH!)

Late check-in just to see if there was any news on your Mom, Barb. Good to know that they got her into surgery. I'm am going to bed shortly, and like Kelly will send up prayers that she has a good night. Hope they give her lots of morphine. That was my only saving grace, and even though I was mostly out of it, DH said I kept asking how much more time before I could "press the button". Stairs are definitely a concern, and even more so given the age factor. I had a hard time and I was several decades younger than your mom is right now. I like Kelly's idea of your brother and you can talk with her case worker ahead of all this and let them help guide the decision.

Hope you are feeling better and have given that nasty flu bug the boot!

Sunny, I'm sending my good vibes too regarding your appointment with the cardiologist tomorrow.

Prayers for your BIL too Thiry. Hope they can get things under control for him, and that once his health is on track he'll be able to get back to work.

Night all . . . emoticon

Quick stop by. I was at my BFF's after work tonight and got a text from my sister telling me my brother had been transported from the local hospital near his hometown to clarkson hospital here in Omaha. His bilirubin is high and they have a liver biopsy scheduled for Friday. DH picked me up and we went to see him. We fond out that he has been in and out of the hospital since December and hasn't had a paying load since 12/18. He is a truck driver.

Sure puts a scare into you.

Keeping the prayers going that Mom has a quiet night...
If stairs are an issue, I don't know about up there but here it's a law that you don't go home until you can either navigate them or have a ramp. Hopefully Dad will understand what the family has been trying to suggest to him all this time about having help. Possibly your brother and you can talk with her case worker ahead of all this and let them help guide the decision.

Okay are you bursting yet with having your son home?

Sunny, good vibes going out with the cardiologist tomorrow. Yes, I hear you about getting all fluffy quickly, but you'll be back on track quickly. I just cut a flatout in half, crisp it up, fill it and fold it. They do make decent chips, brush with a little oil, season and bake; also a quick pizza.

Well, it is spitting white stuff, a few hours behind schedule so we'll see what happens. The worse of it is supposed to be south of here.

I'm finally going to have my dose of cocoa but will have it plain because it's late. Okay, I'll get the can o' reddiwhip out. Everyone have a quiet night, see youse in the AM.

Flat Outs are good!

Congrats to your Grandson. That's awesome!

Good luck to you w/the cardiologist.

Mom did have surgery late this afternoon. She is still in recovery. Have to talk w/the discharge planner and surgeon again tomorrow. I know she'll need 6 wks. of rehab, and my intent is to get it arranged up here. Dad is not going to have a say in this. Both my brother and I agree . . . it is not safe nor would Mom even be able to navigate those stairs anymore.

Soooo. . . tomorrow's another day.

Kelly, I have never used the flat outs for tacos but I put them on my grocery list as I would like to try them. Thanks!

Thanks for all your help, Sharon, with my unwanted visitor. Spark people to the rescue! Thanks a million. He really spooked me.

Barb, that just breaks my heart about your Mom. Do let us know how she does tonight. I will be praying for the best for her. How exciting that John is coming in too. Won't that be wonderful? How nice was it that you Mom got excited about his visit. I am sure that was worth everything - as you said!

Thiry, thanks for your support! I do appreciate it so much. It was a frightening situation. 48 minutes on the treadmill - I am impressed. I walked for 15 today and my hips were screaming. It is just going to take time. It is amazing how 2 months of inactivity can really make one "fluffy" and not in a good way at all.

I see the Cardiologist tomorrow about the irregular heartbeat then no appointments until the later part of March.

Forgot to tell you all. DIL called to let us know William, our Grandson, has qualified to go to The State Chess Championships in March. DH says we can go - yea!

Take care and hope to see you all tomorrow.

Barb how exciting that John is pulling a surprise visit!! emoticon emoticon emoticon It's been such a while since you've seen John! I know your heart would be out of the solar system if it was not for your mom's injury and pending surgery. Doin' my Happy Dance anyway for you and your family. How long is he home for?

I am so very very emoticon to read about your mom. How is she doing this morning? I hope she's on strong pain meds and that broken hip has to hurt like H-E-7-7! How's your Dad holding up? We are all sending you lots of love and sending calming vibes to your mom. Will you go down to be with her and your Dad?

Kelly, I hope you stay safe and warm and that the storm is not too bad tomorrow. I don't even know if we are supposed to get anything. Just went and checked, snow tonight and snow tomorrow morning, and snow showers tomorrow night. 1-3 inches expected.

I think many people are upset about the possible terror threat, and the fact that the admin seems to be ignoring it, and they are now on the verge of letting Iran have a "deal". emoticon I sincerely hope and pray our country will be able to reverse much of the damage that has been done these 8 years after the next election.

Sunny, hope you are doing OK.

Keeping you close in thought and prayer, Barb.

I just cannot believe it. IT sounds like her right knee buckled on her. **SIGH** That's the one she had replaced about 4 yrs. ago. We'll see what happens.

She's confused (understandably) but calmer now. Feeling much more comfortable that the pain meds have kicked in. Probably surgery tonight -- depending on the blood work. Takes awhile for the vit. K to kick in to get the bleeding times in order. Two of the biggest risks with hip fractures are fat emboli and bleeding out. So, there you go. **SIGH**

YOu will never know how much I appreciate the support. emoticon

Oh no Barb - on one hand how exciting that John is pulling a surprise visit, let those happy germs knock the rest of that bug out of you. Then this happens? How is Mom this morning, did she have a "comfortable" night and how is Dad holding up? Huge hugs and healing prayers all around, sigh. Will pace the floor with you tonight.

At least you are on the mend. I loved the Chef too, heck, I'll admit I like Muppets much as the kids. I still have a kitchen clock with him on it, wooden spoons for the time that I got from the wives when we left Washington in '82. Clock no longer works and the glass front is long gone but it stays in the kitchen. Correct time twice a day.

How are your muscles this morning Sharon? Geez, I really almost need a nap to help you recover. Got more on the way, please take it easy this go round.

It warmed up here but not like Omaha and there is still ice in spots. They reopened schools but have given bus drivers the right to not drive in spots. At least that lady is aware of her surroundings, probably with all the news on the MOA. Many folks don't realize it's a medical copter. We have a huge Muslim presence here (2nd in the Nation), mostly from Aftrica (and wonderful folks). Also a huge Kurd population; tucked inside is a Kurd gang of kids that will rival any other. Seems to be under control lately because they realized the law wasn't going to put up with it.

I agree with Sharon, wish we all could celebrate your birthday together, but I think right now we all wish we were there to meet John AND help you all get your Mom well. emoticon you can never have enough of those.

Wednesday: It was a very nice, quiet birthday. Saw the movie PHILOMENA on SHOWTiME and thought it was an excellent movie. Sad, but see it if you haven’t.

Am feeling better physically – at least keeping food down. That is a good start.

Unfortunately, very bad news late last night. Mom fell and broke her hip. Has been on Coumadin (blood thinner) so has to have Vit. K. to counteract that so surgery can be done. The Surgeon feels she’ll be ready for surgery tonight @ around 6 pm.

John is coming in from AK this evening. That is a surprise and will be good. He’ll get to see my Mom and Dad at some point.

So devastating. Prayers please!

BARB – Happy birthday Barb. I hope you get over that flu quickly and get to enjoy your birthday dinner a little late.
KELLY – Thanks, we do have an Amigos down here that we no longer had in Norfolk. I would always go to Amigos whenever I was in Lincoln or Columbus since Amigos left Norfolk so I can get my Mexican fix there between trips to Norfolk for the Burrito dinner up there.
SHARON – Yes yesterday was busy and I am so glad that today was a lot more quiet. The lady that fell last night was doing well tonight when I stopped by to give her meds and take her blood pressure.
SUNNY – I am so glad that the account is closed and agree about keeping your page private. You just never know about people anymore. We had you beat here as my car showed that it was 46 outside as I was leaving work and heading to the gym but have 1-3 inches of snow predicted for tomorrow.

I went to the gym alone tonight as my BFF was still at the doctor with one of our clients and then had another meeting after that was done. I did 48 minutes on the treadmill. I was planning to do an hour but was running short of time and wanted to do some of the exercises that the trainer had given me before heading to work. As I was putting my bag in the locker and putting the lock on it another woman asked what was going on because there was a helicopter flying around outside. I told her I didn’t know but that there was a fire truck turning the corner and heading west as I was coming north to the gym. I said I figured that there was an accident and that the helicopter was looking for a place to land. I was then surprised with her comment that she could handle that as long as it wasn’t ISIS. I haven’t heard anything about ISIS in this area and would be surprised if a medical helicopter would be involved in that kind of thing. I didn’t say anything but went on and headed to do my workout.
Have a great week
Thiry

Barb, emoticon ! Sorry to hear you are feeling under the weather with the flu. It will be nicer to celebrate on the weekend as Jason won't have to worry about going to work. Will you go to your favorite Greek restaurant? Sure wish we could all get to celebrate and emoticon down for your birthday with you in person, and all kick up our heels emoticon and down a few sumthin sumthins together! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Here's one from me that will make you smile:

Sunny, glad you got all squared away! How do you remove your page for the www "internet? I think I'd like to do that, too. Good for you working out those frustrations and anxiety on the treadmill and bike.

Thiry, sounds like you had a busy day! Whew! Wore me out just reading about it.

Kelly, are you still home bound because of the ice?

Heading off to bed as I'm tired today. Have a great evening!

Kelly: Thanks for the b-day wishes! Fortunately, yes, feeling better than yesterday and much better than Sunday.

I use FlatOut bread too once in awhile. It's pretty good! Love using endive and larger leaf lettuce for wraps (chicken, tuna . . . whatever!) Really hits the spot.

See you'se @ 3 . . . think I'll be up for some cocoa! Not sure about the something-something though. But that's all right!

Happy Birthday Barb - there are many, many more to come. Now tell that nasty flu bug to scram you got some emoticon to do... emoticon emoticon emoticon

I'm glad you heard back from Coach Jen. With all our frustrations with them, they do act quickly. I had forgotten that our pages are on www, I think I'll take mine off too. Have you checked your friend feed to see if he added you and you missed it?

Taco's in lettuce leaves, that's Vietnamese and Thai too. Have you tried flatoutbread for your shells? They crisp up nicely and have a lot of fiber in them, so the carb count is down. I haven't made Mexican in so long, think I'll add that back to the menu.

So glad you have Mexican in Omaha and I'm sure you will find a great Mom and Pop in your area to hold you over between trips back to your fav. We have one just a couple of miles up the road from us but my favorite will always be the one near us when we first lived in Houston. Truly old world Mexico. Then again there was the Mexican bakery near us this last time. Oh man - talk about great stuff and even better people.

Another cold day, but have got to get out to run a couple of errands, see youse guys at 3, we'll celebrate Barb soon as you are feeling better.

Barb, so sorry you are not feeling well. Is today your BD? emoticon Good idea to wait to emoticon over the weekend when you are feeling better.

Thiry, we love, love, love Mexican food too but usually fix it here so I can control the calories. I am fixing tacos this evening myself but they will be wrapped in crispy lettuce leaves instead of taco shells and then I will serve some freshly made Pico de Gallo and black bean refried beans with jalapenos. When I worked, I almost always fixed Mexican on the weekends.

Feeling better today as I got a note from Coach Jen saying the account had been closed. I am still going to leave my page private and also keep my page from the WWW. It just feels a little better considering. I do appreciate your help Sharon. I did not go to his page even though I was curious. I did all I could to protect me and possible someone else down the line. I also will be very careful as to who I friend.

Today, we almost are going to have a heat wave. Mr. Weather man says temps up in the high 30's. Maybe we will get out for a while.

We were going to go out for my birthday dinner, but best to do that over the weekend when I hope I’ll feel more like food. GACK!

Thiry: So glad that you got so many meals from those pork roasts and the roll of ground beef. Awesome!

What a day! Sounds that you have your work cut out for you. Hope today’s a better one!

Sharon, Kelly, Sunny: HUGS and hope it’s a great Tuesday!

BARB – Yes a great price and we have about 20 meals from the 5 roasts and 10 from the roll of ground beef which averages less than $3.00 per meal. Not too bad there. Thanks, I am actually getting to the point where I miss going to the gym if I don’t make it. Travel safe going to your parents.
KELLY – Oh yes there are Mexican restaurants in Omaha but the one in Norfolk isn’t in Omaha. It is a mom and pop restaurant and I love their burrito dinners (taco, beef burrito and beef enchilada). I’m kind of a picky eater so finding a Mexican meal that I really like is hard. Ya I am hoping that the ones we have last a long time also. The other TV that we have in the bedroom is at least 7 years old so praying that it doesn’t go out on us in the near future as things aren’t made to last like they were many years ago. I haven’t used my sewing machine since making DD’s junior prom dress so that has been 2 years ago.
SHARON – Oh my that is a lot of scooping. Do take it easy and yes eating out sounds good after 2 sessions of 90 minutes of scooping. I am kind of glad that I don’t have to worry about that since we live in an apartment so they take care of that. A good session in the massage chair at the gym would be good for your muscles, too bad you don’t live here so I could take you as a guest and let the massage chair work your muscles for you. Too bad you weren’t able to take advantage of the sale on the boneless loin. After the purchase of the butt roasts, ground beef and several pizzas (Hy-Vee had a sale and then got cents off gas with the purchase) our freezer is getting pretty full. I probably could fit more in if I take the time to reorganize it but as of right now we have everything in there that needs to be so won’t worry about it. How great to be able to spend a little time with the grandkids and DS even if through Facetime. I’m sure you more than enjoyed that!!!!
SUNNY – Oh my that message would spook me also. Private setting for your Spark Page sounds like a good plan.

The weather here has been cold but that is about all. They are predicting a possibility of snow on Wednesday but will have to see if we get that. Another busy day at work then headed to the gym. I called my BFF to see if she was going to meet me there only to have her tell me she was at her apartment since she had the workman from cable there working on her cable. I stopped by to wait for her so we could go together. While waiting for him to finish she received a call from the daughter of one of her clients. This client was in tears so since she wasn’t able to leave I headed to the facility to check into what was the matter. The client was thinking that someone had stolen some of her magazines that she had spread all over her bed and couch. When her daughter got there I left and headed back to my friend’s house. We were discussing what was going on when DH called to find out where I was. I told him and said that I would be heading home soon. Shortly after that she received a call from the other worker saying that another one of our clients wasn’t able to answer the door as she was saying she had fallen. My BFF called the facility and had the security head to the room to open the door. Luckily this client wasn’t hurt. Needless to say we didn’t make it to the gym tonight. Tomorrow may have to be a bigger workout since I haven’t been there since Saturday and the 5K is less than 4 weeks away. It is still hard to believe that a year ago I was still in the hospital doing 3 hours of therapy a day and not knowing if I would be able to walk without a walker or oxygen and now I am training to walk a 5K in less than 4 weeks. Who would believe it?

Well better get to sleep as it is a busy week at work beings it is payroll week and the pay period doesn’t end until Wednesday and payroll has to be submitted by Wednesday afternoon.

Have a great week
Thiry

Kelly; I've gotten these types of messages in the past (just once on SP) but with a msg. like that one, it's an automatic report it, then delete. Don't want any other access created by opening up the link.

Good Lawd Sunny!

Thanks Sharon for looking for links for Sunny, you are a life saver in more ways than one. I hear your frustration with how they have changed everything, seems it is harder to navigate around. Will look and ask around on the team leader forum to see what else I can find. But you did the right thing with moving everything to private and I certainly hope those in the tower handle this quickly and give this guy the boot. If they don't reply I would insist on one.

What kind of dweeb is he, I don't know if I would trust myself to even look at his page.

I think I would have worn out the treadmill out of frustration, guess it did you some good to get rid of some of that feeling.

Thanks so very much.

I am feeling better but mercy, why can't people understand that doing something like this is downright creepy!

I did get some exercise today - 30 minutes on the bike and 15 on the treadmill. emoticon
That is a great start!

I did all that and feel better now. My friends can still see my page but no unwanted snoopers. Still waiting to hear from Spark People as to what they did about the situation.

I don't know how to send an e-mail to Coach Jen. Do you?

OMG, Sunny! Hope that they figure out who this guy is! You are so right - that is scary.

I found this for you, Sunny:

"On every SparkMail message you will now see a "Block This User" link on the right side of the page. After blocking, you can click the "Block List" button on you main SparkMail page to see everyone you have blocked, and be able to un-block members.

Once you have blocked another member, if they try to send you a message they will see a general error saying you are not receiving SparkMails.

Hopefully this feature won't need to be used very often, but it is there just in case. Also, if you get an inappropriate SparkMail, we still encourage you to click the "Report" button at the bottom of the message so that our staff can look into it further.

Thanks,
Coach Jen"

I did a Sparkpeople search and could find nothing. I even Goggled the name and could not find anything. Kelly, do you as a team leader, have access to any information or resources that us peons don't know about? They have really limited stuff for us. You used to be able to do a Sparkpeple search, but I didn't even see that option in the search bar this time. You used to be able to do a search in the community forums, but no longer. I don't know what else to say. Here is a link to the Sparkpage of someone who has been a great help to me when I've had site problems - so much so that I added her as a friend.

Send her a private Spark Mail and maybe she can help you with this.

I found where I could set my page to private and only my spark friends can see it. Done and feel better. I thought for a while there I was going to have to shut it down completely.

Also, took my spark page off line which I didn't know you could do. Feel better now and can actually breath.

It really shook me up. Thanks so very much, M

I immediately sent a message of the inappropriate e-mail and also blocked him. I just am spooked and now want to make my page private. I am not sure how to send a message to Coach Jen.

Do you know how to make your page private? He can still access my page from the internet and that is a concern.

The thaw was short lived here too. We are luckier than you, the sun is out most of the time but it will stay in the 20's with a teen windchill. Looks like the south is going to get it good. Nancy if you're looking in on us, be safe.

Nothing new on this end, crank up the stove in a bit for some cocoa but think I'll take it plain. Too much vino, Irish and wings over the week-end, my hands are swollen.

Sharon I don’t blame you for the “straight up”! Hope you’ve thawed out. It is still bone-chilling here, but that’s all right. Just staying in. The thaw here was short lived. When I woke up it was -12. UGH

Mr. Spot did appreciate the warmer temps yesterday.

Yes, I am planning on going to my parents’ appt. as long as the weather cooperates. I PRAY IT DOES!

Congrats to your son! That’s awesome. I can see the buttons popping from here.

Awwwww, little Leah is a sweetie!

Kelly: Glad that your ice is melting too. I don’t imagine the school kids feel too badly that the schools are closed. LOL

AS for the city not taking care of the ice yesterday when the sun was out, doesn’t it figure! GRRRRRrrr.

The sun is out here today, but the temps when I got up . . . . – 12. We’ll see what it warms up to . . . . not expecting much.

Well, definitely ready for cocoa with something-something later! Yup, Kelly . . . up @ 4 am Good to have company! emoticon

Holy Schmoly Sharon - please be careful and take it easy! Ditto on dinner out and anything straight up, you sure as heck earned it and a raise!!! And a massage, and a ...whatever you want. Hope you are comfortable this morning.

I just know your heart melted, mine did. Did you just want to reach into that screen and cuddle her up? Wow, congrats to your son, any idea what would be on his choices list?

Ice was pretty much gone in our 'hood, except for one stretch but it was easier navigating. However, schools are still closed because there are too many back roads still severely iced over. Why the city did not go out and take care of it yesterday while the sun (yay sun) was out and the temps were great???

How's the weather out your way Barb and Thiry? Be safe if you head over to your folks.

So much for crashing and going to bed early (before 11), awake at 3a, up a 4 just because I knew you were up too Barb.

No cocoa, S-T-R-A-I-G-H-T! emoticon

Thiry, great deal on the pork roasts! I looked at a whole boneless loin last week for $2.99, and thought that was a heck of a deal, but passed it up, as I have no room in my freezer right now. emoticon emoticon Two thumbs up for getting to the gym over the weekend!

Kelly, Irish Coffee is always a real warmer upper! Snow was melting so fast this afternoon with temps in the 40s we had a little river running down the street! Haven't seen the new platinum color of appliances. Is that just a fancy word for stainless or silver? My BFF has a Kitchen-Aid she just loves, and when I replace mine, I think I'm going to try to find the same model. It's really super quiet and all of the controls are hidden under the "lip of the counter" when you close it. Have not seen the double decker washers either, but then again, I haven't been shopping for appliances, other than a new microwave, and then a carpenter to install our new attic fold-down stairs.

Barb, glad it warmed up for you yesterday! Bet Mr. Spot was happier! Are you still going to be with your parents for the Dr. visit this week? If so, safe travels.

Got to Facetime with DS and GD yesterday. Little Kellan was quite fussy, so we didn't get to spend time with him. Leah told her dad she wanted to call and tell me something. While we were on the phone he asked her what it was, and she replied, "I love you, Gamma." Oh, my heart just melted right into a puddle! In addition, son got picked for slot at post-graduate school. He has to submit his top 3 choices in the next month or so.

Well, heading off to bed, as I am sore and exhausted. emoticon See y'all tomorrow!

Quick check in. Just finished shoveling concrete snow for another 90 minutes to clear out driveway as we had sleet last night after the snow ended. We ended up getting between 8-9 inches when all was said and done. Just got out of a HOT shower. DH came in and said, "if you pass out in the shower let me know."

Almost cocoa time, but we've not had breakfast or lunch. Making DH take me out for something to eat as I am so stiff I can barely stand up straight. When we get back I'm diving into the sumthin sumthin to help relax my muscles. Had a couple of shots of bourbon yesterday and that helped out alot.

Enjoy your afternoon. I'll check back in later. . .

Kelly: Yes, we could have raised a toast for George! Not too late! Don’t think he’s going anywhere! LOL

Definitely nappy time after 90 minutes of shoveling! And a cuppa!

Oh boy, sounds like a mess by you. Hope that the water goes away soon. That’s such a pain. Yes, I agree, feel sorry for the birds that haven’t gone south. Putting suet out there for them. Gobbling that up here, too.

That’s it! The cold freezes their non-existent brain cells! Definitely . . . and that’s in addition to the stupid they’ve eaten for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. It’s like that in our Costco parking lot. Young healthy people have to take the closest parking places. Torques me. I park as far away as possible just for the steps I can get in! Sheesh. Some people are just plain in too big a hurry and lazy!

Haven’t seen the double decker dishwashers! But then again, haven’t looked, either. Sounds cool.

Wow Barb, having a tropical heat wave aren't you? Hope you got out and did something else besides necessary stuff. I have decided that Irish whiskey is only OK in hot cocoa, it did it's job but I'll save it for something else.

Too bad we didn't know about ole George's Cherry Bounce sooner, we could raise a cuppa that to him on his birthday today.

Really Sharon, shoveled for 90 minutes??? And it kept coming? I would have needed a nap or traction. It is a flooded mess around here and all that danged rain didn't help much with getting the ice and snow off the roadways. With all that ponding it is now a skating rink. I feel so sad for all the birds that decided not to head further south, they have gobbled up all the feed I have, plus whatever vegetation. I agree, I think lower temps freezes some folks brain cells, except for the stupid cells and they are too stoopid to know better.

Hmmm, no Mexican places in Omaha? I'm speechless…
Those were quite the meat bargains you got! All these new fangled things our electronics offer make my head spin so I am hoping our TV's last a very long time. I bet your sewing machine misses you so I hope it isn't long before you're back creating great things again.

Another good day to stay inside. The wallet appreciates it. I'll be able to get the new dishwasher that much sooner. Have you seen the new Platinum color? Kind of nice and different, I'm not a fan of that stainless, probably end up with basic white. Fridge is next, really pushing my luck with that babe. Have you seen the double decker dishwashers? Literally, two in one really neat but pricey.

Well, everyone have a great Sunday!

Sunday – got lots done yesterday while the temps were hospitable. Today – back in the freezer and guess we’ll be there till Saturday.

Ready for SPRING! How ‘bout it!

Sharon: 5 inches of snow. **SIGH** Can you say . . . . SPRING COME ON NOW!

Good grief! That guy sounds like an iudiot! Glad nothing happened. Sure would need something-something too, even if it was before noon!

Thiry: Love pork butt roasts. Can get so many different meals out of it! And that’s a great price.

Glad you continue going to the gym. That’s great. AND glad you have energy too. Bonus points.

Sunny and Kelly: Hope you are safe and well.

HUGS and prayers for our soldiers, families and our country.

KELLY – Yes at the moment I am full of energy. There are times when I just want to do nothing also. Just trying to get the house cleaned up and get at my sewing machine and the area to do our finances. Sorry you are having bad weather today. Stay safe.
SHARON – Thank you. The car is great, love driving it as it drives so easy and is so comfortable. The TV is really nice also. I haven’t really had a lot of time to work with it but DH has been telling me some things about it. He finally got it hooked up to the internet and has downloaded some free movies. I will have to see about trying to work with it a little to find out what all it can do soon. All the IDIOTS seem to come out when it snows. I am glad that you are safe and that that guy didn’t cause an accident.
SUNNY – I am so glad to hear that the studies didn’t show any problems and hope that all goes well when you go to the doctors in March. Keep feeling better. Wow that car accident in the front yard would be very scary. I am so happy to hear that Joshua is doing well. Prayers that it continues for the good and NO backsliding.

It’s been a few busy days. Last night after getting home from the gym and eating supper I was looking through Facebook for a little while and fell asleep. When I woke up it was after midnight and I had missed spinning the point’s wheel/bonus spin. We got up this morning and headed to Norfolk to pick up mail. While we were there we went through the mail in the box and found the last of the stuff we needed in order to do our taxes. Having all that we turned in the mail box keys so no more trips to pick up mail from there. We also went to the bank and turned in the keys to the safety deposit box that I found last Monday when I was going through things. I can’t see having a safety deposit box in Norfolk when we are no longer there so now that is out of the way also. We had lunch at the Mexican restaurant that I like there (there isn’t one in Omaha so will eat there any chance we get if we head to Norfolk in the future) and then drove across the street to one of the grocery stores that we used to do a lot of meat shopping at. They had Pork butt roasts for $.099/pound. We grabbed 5 of these roasts which were between 6-8 pounds each figuring that with just the 2 of us we could at least cut them in half and get a minimum of 10 meals out of them, we also picked up a 10 pound roll of ground beef for $3.99/pound. I am figuring a minimum of 20 meals from the roasts and ground beef that we picked up. After getting home and putting the meat in the refrigerator we changed clothes and headed to the gym. When we headed home DH grabbed one of the roasts and cut off 6 pork steaks and then left about half for a roast for a later meal. At this rate we will have lots of meals out of the meat we picked up today. Tomorrow I need to look over the insurance information as I have to decide if I want the insurance from my work before payroll is submitted on Wednesday. After that if my DS comes over to help set up the new network we will work on that but if he doesn’t I will try to work on the office some more.

Have a great Sunday
Thiry

Good Morning, All!
Well, it's snowing pretty good here now. Made the mistake of trying to go to the grocery store. OMG! Parking lost was jam packed people pulling out in front of people IN THE SNOW!
I was waiting behind one guy waiting to get out of the mess cause it just wasn't worth it, and he got tired of traffic while he was waiting to make a left turn. One car was waiting in the intersection waiting to turn left into the parking lot, and guy #1 decides he's pulling out, and does so causing all oncoming traffic in both lanes to STOP FOR HIM. He is da*n lucky he did not cause a multi-car accident!!!!!! Just shoot me now!!!!!! emoticon I think I need a little sumthin sumthin to calm down! Geez Laweeze!!!!!!! emoticon

Taking a quick break before I go out to shovel snow and try to stay ahead of the mess.
11 PM - Well, Here I am went out and shoveled for 90 minutes, and when I got done, it had already accumulated another inch! At that point I gave up. Came in and had lunch and then proceeded to cook dinner as we had invited our neighbors and their 3 kids over for dinner and games. We ended up getting at least 5 inches - I'm thinking more. Now it has turned to sleet. UGH!

Off to bed shortly - just waiting for an Advil to kick in so I can fall asleep.
Hope you all had a good evening. See you tomorrow morning! emoticon

Cheers Ladies!!!

Sippin a big ole mug of hot cocoa, shot of Irish Whiskey and whipped cream. The animals are so funny, they are in the other room, they hear that cap come off of the reddiwhip and they lined up for their share! Guess with the amount of rain, I am very happy it isn't snow, we'd really be in trouble.

Weather has not improved, the temp is at 36 and has rained steadily for hours and it hasn't touched a lot of the roadway ice so it won't be pretty when all that ponding freezes tonight. Jason Aldean is in town, folks are trying to find hotels near by so they don't have to drive home. Cancelled my reservation for Fiddler on the Roof, so will just be sitting here twiddling my fingers bored out of my mind, haha.

Have to chime in on that, too. Used to honestly be addicted to the Weather Channel. Not anymore. Didn't realize they sold out to NBC. Oh well!

Jacksonville Florida went into the 20's yesterday...serves them right.

Sharon meant to ditto thumbs down on the weather channel. Had it on at 3am, they were- surprise-doing weather, however off to the right they had scrolling over and over and over again local info, along with the usual banner at the bottom. However they had a hilarious piece that Cantore and can't think of the other guys name in the heavy snow doing an opera spoof on the weather. But that's what happens when you sell to NBC and then comcast gets their hands on you.

I'm sure you all remember my whining about Christmas '14 in Florida, but at least we all have winter clothes so I feel your remembered pain.

Well, the tantrum continues. Snow, sleet, rain. The sleet was so heavy and loud hitting the windows it had the pup really in an anxious mood about 2 this morning. I was awake (going through another sleepless phaze). I wish I had thought to take a picture, our neighbor has her back walk way lit and the ice on her trees was just beautiful. About 5 the rain mix moved in and what a mess we have. Nothing on the road is safe. Supposed to warm up but then all this starts over tonight. Looks like the midwest is in for it again too, all of you stay safe and warm.

I can't wait to try that cherry thing, actually both recipes look great - one easy, the first a bit more work. I loved the history that went with the Epicourious link.

Well, nothing going on around here will see youse guys at 3.

Just found another Cherry Bounce recipe that says you can sub frozen Bing Cherries. I'm going to try it with a couple of pounds of them when I do it.

This sounds really close to my Bourbon cherries except there are no spices in there, and it is delish! I make a Cherry Bourbon Smash with them and the cherry bourbon juice every once in awhile. emoticon I didn't cook them, just made a simple syrup and added that for the sweetness. I have to find a bigger jar, as right now I have only a pint. Sees youse guys later.

Good Morning! Just taking a break from cleaning, and decided to check in early. Imagine that! emoticon Unkile you all I am not an up with the chickens kind of person. Mornings have never been a good friend of mine. I tend to be more of a night owl. emoticon

Sunny, I am doing virtual cartwheels for you and Joshua!!!! That's cause I could never do a real one. emoticon

Barb, heard today on the weather that Anchorage has been 41 degrees above average temps for most of the winter. This weather is OK with me because I am believing that the annual temps are in a cycle that is running less than normal. So if that is the case, then summer should be moderate rather than hot, hot, hot, and humid.
Hope that you have good weather to make the trek to go with your parents to the doctor's office.

Kelly, I remember when I was 7, our family went to Florida for Christmas vacation. It was my family and my mother's brother's family. There were four adults and four kids. We were psyched! All ready for the beach, swimming in hotel pools along the way, going back to school with tanned bodies. HA! Weather was just like it is there now, and never got above 50 degrees during the day with mostly rain! At night we froze, as most of the motels in those days did not have much more than a space heater or steam heat, which never seemed to work! And we only had shorts, short sleeved T-shirts, and light jackets! I've learned that if I ever move to Florida, we will put in a heat pump or furnace. Also went to the Grand Canyon a few years back, and all the Left-coasters were bundled up like no tomorrow. It snowed the night before, and I got up to watch the sunrise. It was spectacular! But all you could see on them were their eyes peeking out from the 2 inch gap between hat and scarf. Had mittens, boots, and snow-pants on! DH and I got a real chuckle out of that!

Glad you all liked the post on the hot cocoa article. Seemed very apropos for our group. Here's how to make some Cherry Bounce if any of you are interested. I might just give this a try if I can find the cherries:

Friday – since it’s still bitter cold, relegated to just being outdoors long enough for Mr. Spot to complete his chores and then onto the treadmill, stepper and house walking.

It’s Friday! That’s a very good thing!

Sunny: Yes, it was pretty funny to watch. He’s been with the Weather Channel from the get-go, so obviously weather is his life.

Thanks for the prayers. I need it for many reasons, but hoping this will work.

OH boy, sounds like plans could be subject to change! Stay safe.

Fab Friday to you too!

Kelly: OH my gosh, my SIL is suffering with temps in the 30’s in Atlanta. You’d think the world as we know it has ended! LOL I agree . . . we need to have Mother Nature in the corner to think about what she’s done! LOL

LOL! Yup, see you @ George Washington approved 3 pm cocoa!

Sunny: Hope all is well!

Hugs and prayers for our soldiers, families and our country.

Yowza Sunny, happy dance going on for the good news! It's good to pick up a smile from you again.

Oh wow, that young lady sure had a guardian angel riding with her, or maybe just a driveway away? Guess you could say the snow broke her fall.

You have us beat temp wise Barb, don't even want to compete with you on that. It is going to get really ugly here starting at noon for about 12 hours, it is supposed to warm up big time tomorrow. Giving our Floridian friends a good chide because it is in the 30's there. Caught some of the races from Daytona last night, could not believe how many folks were there in that cold night air.

That's an interesting history lesson Sharon, you find the bestest to share. I say let's all fill our canteens with Cherry Bounce.

Well enough of the tantrums Mother Nature, everyone be safe and warm and I hope the weather settles down for you Barb.

See ya at 3, even George Washington would approve!

I thought that video Jim Cantore did on the thunder snow was a little over the top but still funny. Him cracking up just cracked me up.

Barb, I will be praying that you have decent weather to travel to your Dad and Mom's for their appointment with the doctor next week. Bless their hearts.

We woke up to 12 degrees and high today will be around 36 but Mr. Weather man is calling for rain changing to sleet, changing to ice and snow. YIKES! We are suppose to go into Quincy for the first session of our Lenten studies but this weather forecast is a huge factor. We will probably stay home and get our long johns on. hehehe

Thanks for the article/recipe on the hot chocolate! Loved reading the history.

Do have a Fab Friday Team, keep warm, and keep thinking SPRING!

BTW, Joshua is doing good and for that we are so thankful and grateful. He is working and working quiet a bit of overtime but seems to like the job and the people he works with so that is good. He got his 60 day review and it was good. He only missed one day and that was weather related. I so appreciate all of your prayers for him. You all are just the best!

Huggers, Sunny emoticon

Sharon: Yes, much too cold to be out. Poor Mr. Spot -- not happy!

Dang, NO headway with Dad. I think I'm going to have to stage an intervention. Dad and Mom have an appt. with their Dr. next week. I think I'm going to have to go down to be with them and have a little face time with them and the Dr. For now in this bitter cold they have everything they need and they're warm enough. That's a blessing I'll take for right now.

OMG, yes, Jim Cantore was for sure WAAAAAAAY over the top. But that's kind of him.

Have a good sleep! I am going for lala land myself.
