I was getting ready to chat when the sky opened up, wow what a storm that blew through. Without power for awhile, one advantage to underground utilities, we are back on line but trees have roads blocked etc so it'll be quite a night for some folks.

Gosh, my heart just sank hearing about your bonus Mom. Has she tried music? The young lady who helped me in the very beginning with hubs (although he didn't have ALZ, he had all the zany traits) she suggested music, which we started having on all the time instead of just in the morning, even if the tv was on. I know. I know she is relieved to have you so close.

I haven't heard what Doc said about her knee, it will need surgery they already told her that in the ER. It's the ligament thing that will be the recovery issue I think.

Best wishes to Jason as he heads off to work again!

Enough excitement for one day, will see you all tomorrow. HUGS

Hi Gals, a little late but not too bad. . .

Barb, glad Jason continues his "Speedy Gonzales" recovery! Glad he's no longer having to do that whole drive every day! The dentist again! emoticon Hope this is all over for you sooner than later!

Kelly, sorry to hear about your daughter's knee injuries. Recovery is going to take that much longer and be harder. . . Sheesh - our kids can sure be bull-headed when they want, can't they? Agree that the Arnica would help with the comfort level. I can't believe she drives 180 miles RT for work commute! Holy moly! emoticon

Well, I drove up to help out my BFF - to stay with her mom while she went to get her haircut, stop by her apt to pick up some things, and to check mail, and then go to her mom's apt to throw some laundry in and take a shower. Her mom is not good. They finally gave her an antidepressant last night and she has been sleeping almost non-stop for the last 12 hours or so. BF says that is the first time her mom has slept at all since this whole thing began. BF has not had any sleep either as her mom was having to get up every hour to go to the bathroom, or she gets scared and frightened and doesn't know where she is, and since they are in the "intensive care/dementia section of her senior living home the various alarms and things wake her up, too. In spite of all this, she looked remarkably well, but I think she was trying to put up a "good front" for me. Her mom is basically very weak on the left side - left eye barely open when awake, swallow relfex on that side not working, little use of arm or leg, you guys know with all of your backgrounds.

She said she knows her mom will not get well enough to return to her apartment in the complex. Just before I left she said she knew she was going to have to start telling her mom that, and told me that if her mom started to cry, she would lose it too. Gosh, I felt so bad, but left telling her that NO MATTER WHAT she needs, just to call me. That's the latest. . .
Will most definitely have sumthin' sumthin' when DH gets home! Catch you all later!

Continued recovery wishes for hubs, and easy commuting. He'll be fine, tired for sure. Maybe like kindergarten, nap time? I see you are off to the dentist, sad face...

Speaking of knees, did I tell you our daughter is seeing Ortho today (finally) after struggling for a month or so after falling at SeaWorld, it got so bad she went to the ER where she was told she had a torn meniscus and ligament damage...she still dilly dallied for almost a week before getting in touch with Ortho. They sent her home with a leg brace which is cumbersome, hard to get on but impossible to drive wearing. Finally she would put it on after getting to the garage and walking to her office, Of all times, last week and this week was a very limited work at home option. I mentioned arnica to her, right over her head, in fact I think I sent her some awhile back for something else. I know it wouldn't help that injury but it might help with the comfort level. Sadly, there is no park n ride from where she lives, the closest would be less than half way and she works odd hours. 180+ miles round trip.

Another triple digit index today, this is what we get for complaining about the cold! The tour was cancelled at the last minute, bummer.

Hugs and Prayers!

Sharon: Thanks, yes, Jason is doing remarkably well!

He has been driving 30 min. to a park'n'ride and getting a commuter van to Madison since about February. Doing well with it. Then from Madison to the park'n'ride in the evening and 30 min. home. So it's a piece-of-cake. He can get some work done on the commute, too.

good luck with the proofing. That's always the hardest to me.

emoticon Morning, good to see you all back here again!

Sunny I'm sorry about your knee pain. Got any of the Arnica Gel and Pills left? DH tripped and went down of both knees hard a couple of months ago.. Put him on the "regimen" and he was pain free in less than a week. Gel can be used as often as need be, and pills taken 2-3 times a day, but don't eat or drink anything 30 minutes before taking them and 30 minutes after.

So very happy to hear the birthday dinner was so nice, and that Joshua is doing so very well!

Barb, thanks for the update on John. Sorry Clara is having some "tude" problems though. And very happy to read your mom is doing much better. Sounds like Jason is making a remarkable recovery! Must be all our prayers worked! Also glad to read Jason will be riding the commuter, and not driving anymore. Is this a new thing?

Kelly, sounds like you had a fun weekend! Hope your tour tonight is enjoyable, too. Maybe you can give the Painkiller a try when you get home tonight. I'll have one when I get home this afternoon.

Hot one here today again. Going to grocery store later on this afternoon. May or may not be here at 3, but will sure be here by about 4. Other than that just proofing the newsletter before I send it on it's way for "good to go" seal of approval. Then I also send it out.

Have a good day Ladies! emoticon

Sunny: Sorry about the knee pain. I know what thats like.

Glad the birthday dinner was so nice! AND that Joshua was doing well.

Stay cool!

Kelly: Yes, Jason will be riding the commuter. Thats a GOOD thing.

OH YEA! The tude definitely does somewhat stem from not being Queen Bee and having to share the bathroom with her ol Mom. Never mind that her ol Mom never had her own bathroom till she got married @ 34. I shared w/5 people most of my life.

And 20 definitely does lend itself to the tude too.

I am thrilled that Mom is having more good than bad days. That definitely makes me smile, too.

Well, see you ladies @ 3!

There you are Sunny!!! Belated Best Birthday Wishes to Joshua. That recipe sounds good, thanks. Sorry you are still having so much wet stuff though. Hopefully by the time your next round of company comes it will all be gone.

Keep up the good recovery work Jason! Will he be riding the commuter? It is amazing what they do with surgery nowadays isn't it? I'm wondering if Clara's 'tude comes from no longer being the queen bee, I'm sure being 20 has something to do with too. It made me smile to hear your Mom is having more better times.

Have you heard from your friend Sharon? Not knowing is always the hardest. We'll celebrate sending your newsletter off to press!

I had chili rellanos last night, likely won't be a try again. Scraped off the batter which was just way to soggy and bland. This place is popular because of the folks that work there, not known for it's food. It was a nice get together though. Earlier I had wings and a drink watching the Brickyard with a couple of other friends, since we lived here and if we were in town, always watched it there. It started as a melancholy day for me so it was a great mood lifter to be out with a bunch of zanies, both times.

Taking a tour of the Highway Patrol's helicopters garage this evening, doesn't take much to entertain me. So will have a kiddie friendly sumthing at 3. That is about it for me. Will be doing some food prep (roasting veggies) for the week today since I didn't do it over the week end.

Have a good one, see youse later!

Heat again today but saw a cooling is coming our way.

Our company will be here on Thursday so busy today with putting things up. We get things out and there they lay. We should know better but retirement has made us both a little lazy.

I need to get back to my program of exercise and weight loss. Ugh. I have had so much pain with my left knee that I am taking comfort in the fridge. Not a good thing....

Birthday dinner was nice last night. Joshua enjoyed the time he had with all of us and he was doing good so that is always a plus.

Take care and have a great day. I will see you later if time allows.

Hugs, Sunny

Sharon: John is doing well. Still in Alaska. Loving the long days, but they'll soon be coming to an end, unfortunately.

Clara -- OY. Really has a 'tude lately. Driving me batty. But she's 20, they know it all, and parents are dumb. UGH

I am so glad Jason is doing so well too. Amazing.

emoticon It's good to read some good news all around! So glad Jason is doing very well, Barb, and back to work on Wednesday! That's incredible! So glad your mom is having more good days again! By the way how are Clara and John doing? We haven't heard about them much this summer. I figure John must have finally thawed out about now! emoticon

That Painkiller is quite tasty isn't it?

Sunny, it's so good to see you back! Glad to hear your DH is well on his way to his 'ol chipper self! I take it you had a good time with your company. Another round on the way?! OY!

Kelly, watched some CMT this morning and they were broadcasting from the rooftop of Tootsies in your downtown area. Have you ever been there? Thought of you and wondered if you were out on a weekend Sunday brunch party this AM. . emoticon

Had a relaxing afternoon. Worked some more on the newsletter and it is almost finished. Good thing, as I've got to get it off tomorrow night. Watched a couple of episodes of Once Upon A Time - Season 3 earlier this evening. Do any of you watch that series? It's great. Produced by Disney, and it's a spin on classic fairy tales with Snow White, Prince Charming, Rumpelstiltskin, and the Evil Queen as some of the main characters. You can stream it on Netflix. We are definitely hooked - so much so that we are buying the series on DVD. I'm hoping when our grand-kids are older they will enjoy watching it.

Well that's about all the news that's fit to print here. . . Here's to the start of a hopefully "uneventful, and less stressful week" for all of us! Cheers! emoticon

Good Afternoon, Team.

How wonderful that Jason is doing so well, Barb!!! Woohoo...
He has a good nurse to see him through the recovery. Right?

Hot and steamy here too and we are still "floating". I don't remember having this wet of a summer since we moved here in 1999. The past few mornings our wake up call was severe lightening and thunder. Ugh...

Chili Rellenos are my favorite. I love this casserole recipe. So easy as compared to stuffing the peppers.

"This Chili Rellenos Casserole is very easy to prepare and is loaded with flavor. Great for a busy week night, and good enough for company."
INGREDIENTS:
2 (7 ounce) cans whole green chilies
peppers, drained
8 ounces Monterey Jack cheese,
shredded
8 ounces Longhorn or Cheddar cheese,
shredded
2 eggs, beaten
1 (5 ounce) can evaporated milk
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/2 cup milk
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
DIRECTIONS:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Spray a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
2. Lay half of the chilies evenly in bottom of baking dish. Sprinkle with half of the Jack and Cheddar cheeses, and cover with remaining chilies. In a bowl, mix together the eggs, milk, and flour, and pour over the top of the chilies.
3. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove from oven, pour tomato sauce evenly over the top, and continue baking another 15 minutes. Sprinkle with remaining Jack and Cheddar cheeses, and serve.

Now, I am getting a craving for Mexican food.

Joshua is 40 today so we are going to meet him in Hannibal for a Birthday dinner. It is a local restaurant called Fiddlesticks. They serve cheese filled bread sticks and call them "fiddlesticks". A salad served with the fiddlesticks is perfect and in my plans for the evening. Think I will go for The Buffalo Chicken Salad. It is great.

Take care team. I have a busy week ahead of me with visitors from Kansas expected on Thursday.

DH is doing well and I sure do appreciate all the support and prayers. Thanks so very much.

Hugs, Sunny

Sunday another low key day. Jason is doing all right. Still a little sore, but today should be the peak. He is doin gall the right things, so hell feel better.

Otherwise, hot and muggy. Got an early walk in before the heat.

Sharon: The Painkiller hit the spot. May have a re-do today!

Mom is doing all right. Having more good days than not, so thats a real positive!

That had to make the day having FT w/DS. Wahoo.

Oh boy! First tooth . .. . that makes em on edge but hope its as smooth as teething can go!

Hot here too.

Prayers for your Bffs Mom. **SIGH**

Kelly: Thanks, Jason is doing well today. A little more sore, but Tylenol is handling it. Probably one more Ultram (Tramadol) tonight then that should be it.

Have fun tonight! You ladies have me in the mood for Mexican now! YUMMY

Hugs yall. See you @ 3 and HUGS and prayers for our soldiers, families and country.

Good Sunday Morning all! Hope this morning finds Jason feeling a little bit better, Barb, and that you both were able to get a good night's sleep. Hope Mom and Dad are doing well, too.

Kelly, hope you enjoy your Rellenos as much as I did.

Just finished FT with DS a little bit ago. He is TDY for an extended class. He says little grandson finally popped his first tooth yesterday. It took a long time coming in! Little GD is having some problems missing her daddy, and I guess, doing some acting out because of it. Other than that things are good.

Taking it easy today. It is going to be another hot one today. Enjoy the rest of your day. Catch y'all again later!

Nothing like a pain killer with a healthy dose of fruit juices! How's hubs doing Barb?

Actually was nice(r) temp wise yesterday. Your bod must have needed some down time Sharon, heat or not...it's okay to let the toddler nap kick in.

A group of us are getting together for Mexican tonight, I usually get Chorizo and eggs, but you just talked me into Relianjoes! It's been a long time since we all got together, looking forward to some serious laughter.

I hope you hear from your friend today, no news, good news! Well, good as can be.

Will check in later!

So glad to read things are going well, Barb. Sounds like you liked the Painkiller. Hope Jason has a good rest tonight. How long is he home for/recovery time?

Busy day here - went for haircut and then we went out to lunch - had Mexican. It's been quite some time since we had Mexican food and it was good. I had Chili Rellenos. I love them, and order them if they are on the menu. Not many places have them.

Getting hotter here and I think the heat got to me today because I actually took a nap. I rarely do that, but heat and humidity just zap all of my get up and go right out of me.

Hope you all had a good Saturday. No news from my friend yesterday or today. That's probably not a good sign.

Sweet dreams and see you tomorrow! emoticon

Kelly: Oh boy, the happy juice is out of the system. BUT he's doing well. Has more discomfort today, but as I said to HIM, that is expected. First of all he moved a lot yesterday, and as you pointed out, the happy juice is out of the system.

He's doing well w/Tramadol (Ultram) alternating when needed w/Tylenol. So, we move forward!

Quickie: Surgery went well. In recovery -- back to the room in probably an hr. Then he has to do the "necessaries", eat and we're outta here.

We're all there right by your side in spirit, Barb.

Kelly, no worries about your share of the bail - we've got your back!

OK, here's the perfect cocktail for you today Barb. Take your pick - shaken or frozen.
Too bad Jason can't have one! emoticon

The Painkiller

2 oz. pineapple juice
2 oz. orange juice
1 oz. coconut cream
2 oz. rum
Sprinkle of freshly grated nutmeg (optional)

Shake or stir all ingredients (except for the nutmeg) and pour over ice in a tall glass. Sprinkle with freshly grated nutmeg.
Makes 1 Serving

The Frozen Painkiller:

2 oz Dark Rum
1 oz Spiced Rum
3 oz Premium OJ with no pulp
2 oz Premium Pineapple Juice
1/2 oz CoCo Lopez
Blend with ice until frozen and smooth.
Makes 1 Serving

Will be thinking of you and Jason all day Barb.
Catch ya'll later!

Good vibes going out to your hubby Barb!

Would your hubsters have extra bail for me, mine wouldn't have bailed me out ha ha, Just as he would have his beer no matter my drinking status. So enjoy one after he nods off, you will have earned it.

I tried to save the picture last night to share, it is of a young boy (under 10) standing in the pouring rain, no rain gear, holding a good sized flag waiting for the hearse of one of the Marines to pass by. Will have my RED on, wore my offensive RED yesterday.

We'll wait to pop a top with ya Barb! Actually, I likely won't because I may join friends during the market. Hugs and Prayers all around.

Sharon: BWAHAHAHAHA! Good to know that you have bail $$$! LOLOL! I'm sure Jason would bail me out!

Glad that you're making progress with the newsletter. YES, for sure DO have a suitable libation for Happy Hour! I know I'll be ready when we get back from the hospital. But, would feel kinda guilty having it in front of Jason. I'll just wait till he nods off . . . uh oh . . . hope that's not bad!

Thanks for the prayers and love guys.

Pass my well wishes to Jason too Barb. We're all there with you and him in spirit!

Yes, not if but, WHEN we have our get together as I walk out the door the first question he would ask is how much he should figure on for bail . . . emoticon He knows I like to have a good time!

Made some good progress on the newsletter after our klatch time. Barb, I'll try to make Happy Hour extra good for you tomorrow!

Love you guys!

Awwww, thanks for the well wishes. Passed them onto Jason. He's nervous (understandably) but know he'll be fine.

Honestly Barb I thought wow Dad is really under it to be in a cap, in a fir (as in tree)! Luv It!

Well, since I'm the oldest you all are joining me...oh wow and all we need is Sunny, nothing is safe. Even Thiry I bet could add to the levity and mayhem. Has anyone heard from her?

Didn't stock up on libations but had a glass of wine out on the front porch. Had some serious rain blow through several times today, dark clouds and light clouds all mixed together and quite nice out. Came in to say hi and again send a lot of well wishes for hubs tomorrow.

Sharon: OMG . . . . that is too funny . . . . I looked at my post and it's supposed to be "like a hot potato in a camp fire." OMG

LOL! Glad I'm not alone in being blonde AND senior! LOL Yes Kelly you gotta join us! Blondes have more fun (well, mostly anyhow!)

I point blank told dad this morning that he has to make a decision based on what HE can handle because Mom is not capable of that kind of decision making and won't be. That's all I said. I can see the wheels turning.

Thanks for the good wishes for tomorrow. Appreciate it very much.

Quick lunch/snack break! A little later I'm going to do sunthin' sumthin' - otherwise I know I'll just leave it. Frozen Hot Chocolate sounds good, Barb. I played around the other night and did a quick together rum punch kinda drink. Coconut rum, dark rum, orange juice, pineapple juice, and grenadine. Not too bad and went down really easy! I'm workin' on tomorrow's Happy Hour drink still. That will be later on when I get sick of doing the newsletter.

Barb, first and foremost sending those prayers up for Jason tomorrow, and visualizing all is well when you leave. Praying for an expedited recovery too! What is "a potato in a cap fir"? I've never heard that expression before - it must be a "local thing" up there. Glad you and your mom had a nice day and you both felt beauty-ful when you left the hair salon. Oooo - quick break! - that just reminded me that I need to call for haircut appts on Saturday. Back in a moment . . . OK! Done!
Sorry to hear about your dad, Barb. I give you a bucket full of kudos for being able to stay quiet! Not one of my stronger qualities! If you need duct tape, I'll be happy to contribute to the cause! emoticon Is there some way you could "gently" demonstrate that mom can't help in these types of situations? Maybe a real practical example would help - or maybe he's moving through the "grief" of it all, and is stuck in denial.

Count me as #3 on the list for blonde senior moments. Isn't that funny - 3 out of the 4 of us are blondes! I've got an idea - let's talk Sunny into coloring her hair blonde, and then we can call ourselves the Blonde Bombshells! emoticon (pin-up icon) emoticon

Kelly, great news on Vanderbilt Children's Hospital getting that grant! Well, I've killed enough time already. Back to the puzzle page!

Catch y'all later!

Thursday Mom got her perm and I got my haircut. Feels much better! And Mom is a happy campe.

Have lots to do today so Im ready for tomorrow, so on the move.

Have a great Thursday.

Oh, wont be on much or at all tomorrow. Have to be @ the hospital @ 7 am and surgery is @ 9 am. So, I hope to post a quick drive-by update in the evening.

Sharon: Good that youre making progress on that newsletter!

Yes, we left the salon at least not scary to little children on the street! LOLOL Mom enjoyed the attention. Me too!

Prayers for your BFFs Mom and your BFF. . It is so difficult.

Dad is like a potato in a cap fir right now, so I am just letting him be and giving him space to think. He is not coming to grips with the fact that Mom cannot help in these decisions. She is not capable! HE has to make the choice about what HE can handle. But thats something Im going to give him time to think about. **SIGH** Hard to keep the mouth shut. Wheres that duct tape?????

And I did talk with my brother and told him in no uncertain terms that he HAS to weigh in with Dad if only to just say we support whatever decision he makes and HE has to make the decision.

I brought up the addition option on Saturday and it was an epic failure @ that point, so having to let that sit too. GRRRrrr. DUCT TAPE FOR THE MOUTH!!! Apply liberally.

Sorry bout your post. Dont have a clue why that happens, just know it has happened to me multiple times, too.

Kelly: We grabbed lunch (rather SHE did I had tea, actually) at a BBQ place that has a good rep right around the corner from the salon. She enjoyed it.

Being blonde and a Sr., I have my choice of reasons if a mistake is made! LOL

How awesome about the study grant for Vanderbilt Childrens Hospital! Awesome.

Sunny: Hope all is well.

HUGS and prayers for our soldiers, families and our country. See youse @ 3 definitely! Having that Serendipity Frozen Hot Chocolate kinock off you posted last year, Sharon, and adding Baileys. Mom thought it sounded good, so were going for it.

Never occurred to me that the light would be an approaching train or one of those little thingys that look like teeter totters on wheels Barb. "Spa" day, one of these days I'm going to treat myself to something like that. I wondered if it included lunch or maybe high tea with your new do's? Bet it lifted your Mom's spirits though. Extra hugs and prayers on that issue, extra, extra everything sent to hubs for tomorrow. Bet it'll be good to have Clara on hand to help the next few days.

I lose posts too, but I think sometimes it's because I'm not paying attention, blonde moments you know, just for grins and giggles I'd ask about it..maybe you'd get an answer. I'm laughing with your frustration with putting that newsletter together because I'm sure you have done it in the past when you had to neatly cut and paste it. Like doing a puzzle sometimes. It'll look fabulous. Step away, deep breaths.

Kewl, Hundayi is giving Vanderbilt Children's Hospital a huge cancer study grant. The news said they are among the largest grant givers.

Nothing exciting on this end, see youse all at 3!

OK, another case of the missing post . . . It vanished into the ether again! I posted a quick post earlier today right after I posted to the "wall", but it doesn't show up. I don't get it.

Made some good progress on the newsletter, but the devil is always at the end in the details with fit and appearance. It's easy to do the articles - it's like doing a jigsaw in putting it all together at the end.

Barb, hope you and your mom had a wonderful "spa day" together and both of you felt "beauty-ful" when you walked out. Did you make it a girl's day and go to lunch? Typing that just brought up memories of girls' day lunches with my best friend's mom and her. No news today - nothing since yesterday. My heart kept tugging to go and try to visit, but I know things must be tough in that I did not hear whether or not her mom was we/stable enough to be transferred. . . I didn't want to be a distraction if there were doctors in and out either making decisions or preparations.
Also glad your mouth is feeling better today. My mouth and teeth are always sore just after a cleaning, so can only imagine how you feel, Barb.

Agree with Kelly on your dad, and am keeping him in my prayers that he will get a clear answer on what to do. I think he knows what is in store, but also has to listen to your mom who doesn't understand why they can't have their own place. He's definitely caught between a rock and a hard place. Anymore talk about the live-in addition to your house? Maybe your brother could weigh in more with your dad - you know one man to another - and maybe over a couple of beers . . . . just the two of them.

Well got to run to catch up on my sparking before I hit the sack for the night. Sleep well, and sweet dreams, my friends. . .

LOL . . . . yes, there is a light @ the end of that dental tunnel. Just hope its daylight and not an approaching train! LOL

It is indeed hard for Dad to admit HE NEEDS HELP. The light bulb is dim, but it is slowly lighting I think. Well see.

Yes, tis a large buy in, but part of that AND the app fee are refundable. So . . . he has to decide to get more information, whatever he needs, to make the choice. Meanwhile Mom is against it. SIGH BUT she wants their own place. Well, as I told Dad, you cant have your independence w/o paying for it, sadly. Mom doesnt get that so he has to release the pressure he feels listening to Mom. HE has to be the decision maker and I think he feels a little guilty about it. He shouldnt. Its what it is right now.

Seems they put the air conditioning stuff in the worst places, at least it's done. And yes dear lawd that the other car is running. It must have been awfully lonely and decided to be stubborn about getting a move on! I just heard the tail end of this on the news about concerns about hackers being able to over ride some Chrysler Jeep cars computers. I'll keep my 14 yr old buggy.

There is light at the end of the dental tunnel...

I agree about that place seeming reasonable, maybe an extended visit or two I don't envy your Dad, it's a tough decision for sure. It's hard to accept that you can't do it alone. Watching all this unfold for you Barb, I'm starting to understand (and being more patient with) the kids pushing the way they are to get me down there. We looked at a senior community in Jacksonville a few years ago. this was attached housing (they did have apartments but didn't look at those), yikes the buy in was huge and 1700 a month, you did not own the house and got nothing back in the end. Great set up and right around the corner from John's favorite Irish bar. But that wasn't enough to make us open our wallet, sell this place and property next to our daughter and raid his pension. It may have made it easier on me while he was so sick, even with the kids near by, but it would really cramp my play money now.

Come up for air while working on your newsletter Sharon, sending good vibes and prayers to your friend and her Mom.

Quiet day around here, a little relief from summer but it will be back sooner than we want.

Hugs and Prayers and good stuff at 3!

Sharon: Thats not too bad for something wrong with the A/C. Sheesh.

Yes, men are impatient!

Yes, the issue Dad has to decide is what level of independence he can handle. IT HAS BEEN ROUGH letting him handle things mostly on his own but I HOPE hes seeing the writing on the wall. I just said this morning, I think he has to decide how much he can handle.

Jason and I felt the deposit and the rent were reasonable for sure. Its all in how badly you want it and what you can afford. Thats something he has to decide as well. My brother and I would help, but dont have THAT much cash to spare.

Oh, I am so sick of dental appts., but just looking @ the end of the procedures needed. Still have 2 more to go and then hasta la vista . . . . yah right . . . . for another 3-6 mths.!

Sorry things are so bleak sounding for your BFFs Mom. Prayers.

Good luck with your newsletter.

Hi all. . .
Well, yesterday ended on a better note. Got the one car fixed - broken AC wire somewhere, but still a little less than $300 when all was said and done. Then we waited for it to cool off, and tried to once again jump start the other car. Twenty minutes later and two good tries did not do it. DH was ready to call it quits, and I said wait a few more minutes without trying to start it, and I'll keep my car going. After a couple minutes, he got in, and it started. How loudly can you shout "Thank you, God!"? I got in it, and drove it out on the interstate for almost an hour to get the battery chareged up reeeallll good. Got in this morning, and it started right up! Relief. . . emoticon

Barb, that place for your folks sounds good. Is your dad he** bent on living independently? I know that they are always worried about "imposing" and "being a burden". Those figures sound very reasonable to me because when I was looking for my mom several years back - most wanted $5K deposit, and rent was a grand or more a month, and that was near the little podunk town I grew up in. Where I am was at least double that!

emoticon you had another dental app't today. Are you on the last procedure yet? DH is afraid to go back to the dentist after that bill for $5K last year! Sheesh, and that was AFTER our "gold" dental plan had paid their share!

Kelly, I'm up here with all the crazies - the ones we always complain about. That was all interstate driving time as choice #1. 2 other routes where options, but they were even longer.

Got a brief note from my friend this morning, and she said it was a really bad day yesterday, and she was not transferred. She thought it was going to be the end, but her mom is still in the hospital, and there was much discussion on whether or they would transfer her today. She said many doctors were weighing in. . .

Sunny, guess you're still busy with company, and hope you are doing well.

Got to run to start another quarterly newsletter for the organization I publish for, so if I'm less obvious than normal, you'll know why. I promised it for a week from today.
I must be crazy! emoticon
emoticon See ya later!

Kelly: I can see my Dad's head spinning like Linda Blair in the Exorcist with the realization that for that amt. of cash it HAS to work and there is no guarantee of that for sure. I told him up front, he has to make the decision, but he has to realize that care for Mom is NOT going to get any easier, in fact it is going to get more difficult. And unless he is open to help, there is NO way that it will work. Period. And also said that at least here, I am always available. That would not be the case if they lived on their own. Just not the same, just not possible. So, the upshot of that is he'd NEED HELP! She needs 24/7 supervision!

So, there we have it!

Oy indeed Sharon, your wheels haven't been too kind to you lately have they? I've got to take mine over, think the transmission needs to be looked at. Hope things are settling down for your friend. Where are you, I am surprised at the drive time too, are back roads involved?

Ouch, that's quite a wait fee, at least some of that up front is refundable but still. At that price you want it to work. Almost feel like it's a gotcha moment doesn't it?

Not much going on around here. The HOA meeting made my head spin, finally (barely) had a quorum though.

Stay cool and hydrated, lots of hugs and prayers.

Sharon: Hope today's a better day!

Kelly, Sunny: Wishing you a good Tuesday!

Tuesday had lots of things to get in order, so busy day. Bank, store, pharmacy . . . fun! Today I have dental appt. # one million. LOL

Found an apartment that may be a fit for Mom and Dad . . . . BUT

They have no vacancies right now

There is a $1,000 application fee to get on the wait list (refundable).

There is a required SUBSTANTIAL payment up front for the apartment, PLUS $775/mth rent. There is a portion of that up-front fee that is refundable.

So right now Dad is mulling it over. I am not convinced that it is the totally right them, but it is the closest fit we have seen.

Hope its a good Tuesday!

Hugs and prayers for our soldiers, families ad our country.

See y'all @ 3! HUGS

Hi all. . .
Haven't heard a thing from my friend, but I know she has been busy commuting back and forth to hospital, spending a good part of her day there to be her mom's advocate, and liaison between medical staff and her mom. Today her mom is supposed to be transferred by her and her brother to the hospital in her senior care facility. She has been through a lot these last few days . . .

Well, today is a "moanday" for us. One car in the garage for service, and one in our garage with a dead battery! Oy vay! Barb, glad your mom liked the Lobsta! Like I said, I'm going to work on "tweaking it".

Kelly, according to Google maps is almost a 10 hour drive to your house. That shocked me. Thought it would be about 6 or 7 hours.

Catch ya later!

Ohhhh, sorry to hear about your friends Mom too. Soon as you said she fell again I had a feeling something may be wrong, good thing your friend knows what to be aware of. I'd go see her anyway, she may think she made a new friend.

A Blue Star Klatch in person would be so much fun. Either look at a map and meet in the middle or invade someone's town. The door is always open here too, we're close to the airport and the interstate (I-40) Sharon are you in VA or WVA?

Crazy hot and humid again here. Have a HOA annual meeting tonight, be interesting to see if tonight we actually get a quorum, would be the first in years. For sure I'll need sumthin when I get home, always chaos but this one is going to be a real doozy (involves a huge expenditure) I'll give you a run down tomorrow.

Hope the weather cleared for your company Sunny.

Deep breaths Barb, Friday will be here and all will be fine. Is hubby a good patient? HaHa

Meanwhile, continued prayers and hugs. See youse at 3 with some fruit ice tea...

Going to try the Lobsta!

I am so sorry to hear about your BFF's Mom. IMHO, I feel that could have contributed to Mom's fall and memory issues as well. Not full blown stroke but transient ischemic attacks, where the flow of blood to the brain is interrupted by a spasm of the artery vs. a clot.

Prayers for your friend's Mom . . . and her!

LOVE THE JOKE!

Good for your mom to get to spend time with her siblings, and so glad they had a safe voyage! Gives you a little "me time" to chill, too, although I know you are always thinking about them.

Hot and humid here, too, and we tried the "Lobsta" last night to cool off. It was good and very fruity as DH said. To me it was missing "a little kick", but I'm sure you'll like it. And it was pretty! I definitely think your mom would like this one, too, Barb. Already looking for next Friday's Happy Hour cocktail.

Kelly, I am hoping to get out your way one of these days! We could definitely cause "a little mayhem without the bail" together couldn't we?! Of course, you'd have to take me to all your fav local hangouts and food places. Any good "que" down there? I'll have to see how far it is from here. Likewise, each of you would be welcome here. Our door is always open for friends and family.

Got a message yesterday that doctors think my friend's mom had a stroke. She fell again later on Friday while trying to use the walker I sent along. My friend is an accredited post rehab exercise specialist/personal trainer, and she noticed weakness on the left side so she took her to the hospital, and they admitted her. She said the falls have really caused a decline. I mentioned going to visit when she thought her mom might be up to it, and she replied she thought her mom wouldn't recognize or know me now. Tomorrow she and her brother are transferring her to the hospital section of her senior living community, and my friend will stay in her mom's apartment there. So sad, and it does not sound good. . .

Sunny, hope you are enjoying the time with your company.

To wind things up, a little humor:

Those three boys are in the schoolyard bragging about how great their fathers are.

The first one says: "Well, my father runs the fastest. He can fire an arrow, and start to run, I tell you, he gets there before the arrow."

The second one says: "Ha! You think that's fast! My father is a hunter. He can shoot his gun and be there before the bullet."

The third one listens to the other two and shakes his head. He then says: "You two know nothing about fast. My father is a civil servant. He stops working at 4:30 and he is home by 3:45!"

Happy Sunday!

It did a WORLD of good for Mom to get out and "smell the roses". She always reminisces about growing up w/her siblings and of the six of them, now there's just her and her two brothers -- her older brother who is 92 (in August) and her younger brother who is 78. so it always does her good to see family.

HOTTER THAN HADES here too! Lord. Ready for the LOBSTA or whatever cool libation is available!

OH no! This is not the time of year to be dealing with casts -- well, NO time is good, but hot weather -- ACK! hope she heals quickly, poor thing.

Well, here's to laughter to lighten the day!

Oh wow, I bet you were riding along with your folks yesterday! Happy dance that all went well, maybe it did your Mom some good to have a change of scenery?

Hot as hadies again today. Although last night once that sun went beyond the trees it made a huge difference with the temp and we even had some breezes mixed in, so all in all it was quite nice. This is a big band sound but plays all generations, this is their third year playing.

Sharon that place is called Phat Bites. I wish you had a road trip this way planned soon! How's your friends Mom after her spill?

Speaking of spills, found out last night that our neighbor slipped on the steps getting on their sailboat, had pains in both legs that after a few hours of being home decided to go to the ER, she has two breaks in one foot and has a break in her long bone in her other leg! She's in a wheelchair for at least 6 weeks. I heard hammering yesterday morning as I was headed out for breakfast, hubs was building a ramp in the garage so she can get out of the house. That side of the street, only a couple of steps into the house, not like our side.

Love your quotes Barb, especially todays. We sure could use a lot of humor lately, getting harder to find it or use it without offending some dweeb.

Hugs and Prayers, see youse all at 3!!!

Sunday My parents went to visit Moms brother (hes 91, will be 92 in 3 weeks). Had a safe trip there and back, thankfully.

Had storms yesterday in the morning, then later in the afternoon. Thankfully no damage as there were high winds. We were in a tornado watch, but most of the worst weather was south of us.

Sunday blessings to you!

Mornin'! Hot and humid here today. Stormed earlier this AM. Still overcast but no rain.

Barb, so glad to read that Jason got the thumbs up yesterday. I knew he would! Visualizing a successful procedure, and a rapid recovery for him.

Kelly, what's the name of the establishment you mentioned so if and when I ever get to the area I can check it out. Hope you have fun at your concert. Who's playing?

Enjoy your busy Saturday everyone! Chill . . .(we need a penguin with sungalsses emoticon on here)

Glad you all liked the blog. I loved the first 2 pictures myself! Also liked the bison one because that is my DH's kind of humor.

Sunny, hope you are getting all your preparations done for your company.

Got to get the rest of my ingredients for my Lobsta later!

Laughing so hard at your Friday blog, cat got a bath and my clogged sinus' are running out of my eyes and nose. See, you are a medical marvel as well as funny!

Crazy hot and humid here again today, good thing I have more than one red shirt 'cause I had to change mine before heading to the market. To think not long ago we wanted the cold to go away. We sat inside for our afternoon delight! This place makes a fresh juice mixer for drinks, I had already started my wine when I realized what she was doing so I got juice only to go with my wine. So danged good. I saw her add watermelon, pineapple, white peaches (I don't know what they are really called, that's what we called them in GA and hadn't seen them in years. Kinda like a tangy peach) but I don't know what else she put in the juicer. After she tossed the pulp she said I should have asked if anyone composted, I suggested she ask if the baker could use it in something. This place specializes in healthy stuff (even what's his name from Diners, Drive ins, gives his stamp of approval and that was when they were in the old place. He would go nuts in the new place, bigger, with a bar AND right next door to a hardware store and if he timed it right, a local farmers market.

Happy glad hubby's second look under the hood went well!

Sunny , it was so good to have you stop by and that your hubby is a-okay! Your state has really been pounded with lousy weather, be safe and dry. We've ordered up some great weather for your company. Don't be such a stranger, you are missed.

I'm going to an outdoor concert tonight otherwise one of those lobsta's would be mine, tomorrow though. I told the barkeep about your lobsta, she'll keep it for her own, juicing the base special is about all they want to do ahead because they get busy as the night goes on. We were laughing because I say lobsta being a New Englander and my friend is from Bahston. This concert series is so great, bring your own booze, food and dancing shoes. Amazed at the party platters some folks put together. Me, I just bring my special thermos wine glass and some fruit. Not hauling half my kitchen.

Should go get dressed, going to a group breakfast and I'm picking up two of the funnest ladies who are in their late 80's one still drives but parking at there is a bear so I drive. I so look forward to this once a month gathering and the cheese blintzes. I figure I have plenty of fruit and a healthy white with veggies omelet I can help myself to those blintzes.

CUL8R, if I don't melt first. HUGs to all, extra prayers as well. Oh, one of our State Representatives' daughter just married a Marine, at least one of the groomsmen served with the Gunny Sgt that was killed. She is a retired Air Force Officer and Air Guard Reservist herself.

Hey gals, just posted my Happy Hour blog. Gosh Kelly, that's downright scary! Hope you stay safe! Will watch Bret Beir here soon most likely with a good stiff drink. I have to wait to try the Rock lobster as I don't have the Banana liqueur. I'll have to get it tomorrow,

Barb, seems I scored a hit with your mom! I'll bet she'll like the "Lobsta" one from today too.

Going to get off the puter for awhile. Catch y'all later or in the morning.
Cheers!!! emoticon

Your Mom just tickles me Barb!!!

Looks like another winner of a libation, got all the fruit but none of the octane. For sure if I was in Florida, we'd be sippin away on their newly screened in back porch tonight, they have the good stuff. It'll have to wait til Wednesday when the guvment sends me my $$$ though.

Well, that nut worked less than an hour away from Nashville, we have one of the biggest muslim population here so I'm thinking that's why they locked down the Capitol so quickly. My brain feels like it is going to explode, my heart just breaks to watch what is happening. Now prezbo is coddling prisoners. I'm out of prayers already today.

I hope you have found your funny bone Sharon, we all could use it.

Oh my goodness, yes. It is just crazy in this world. I mean, I know there were things -- bad things -- that happened as I was growing up but nothing as continuous and horrible as the happenings in TN and ELSEWHERE! Infuriating to say the least. I am hoping that even prayer will have an affect. I believe it will, but it's hard to even know where to BEGIN!

All righty then . . . .moving on. Oh sweet imbibing . .. . that cocktail sounds AWESOME! Going to try it tomorrow. Mom requested the creamsicle again. HEE HEE. Who am I to argue! NOPE!

See y'all @ 3 and love you all! The world needs a whole heaping, helping more of that!

All I can say about the news from TN is when the heck is this administration going to wake the heck up?! I did notice that when speaking directly after the news broke yesterday, our "Commander in Chief", and I use that term with the lightness of Helium, deemed it a horrible "circumstance", and not a horrible "tragedy" as he made sure to point out for all the "black shootings"! That just set me off!!!!!
I agree with Barb, that when put into the "grand scheme" of world events this is very disturbing, and the fact that our military are UNARMED is just sheer insanity and madness!!! We need prayer for this administration to wake the he77 up!!!!!!

Sunny, emoticon We've missed you!!!
I'm so sorry to hear about all the storms and flooding in your area, and that many are still without power!!! I am so happy to know that you are safe and sound with no damage and you have power. Hope you have a emoticon time with your friends at your lunch get together! I guess you'll be MIA again soon once your visitors arrive.
On the other hand, so very, very happy to hear that your dear hubs is doing so well! emoticon emoticon

Barb, have been keeping Jason in thoughts and prayers, and have been mindful that surgery is fast approaching. I DO believe that all will go better than expected. Continually sending that thought out to the universe!

I think we will all need a BIG dose of sumthin' sumthin' this afternoon, so here's today's Happy Hour recipe. I hope you all have most of this on hand because it looks and sounds delicious!

Frozen Rock Lobster
This summertime tropical treat is a blend of run with the flavors for banana, pomegranate, coconut, and orange.

1 cup of ice
1.5 oz Malibu Coconut Rum
1/2 oz Banana Liqueur
Dash of Grenadine
1/2 ripe banana, peeled and sliced
Dash of Pineapple juice - about an oz
Dash of Orange Juice - about an oz
1/2 - 1 oz of Dark Rum

Place all ingredients, EXCEPT THE DARK RUM, INTO A BLENDER, and pulse and blend until smooth. Pour into a chilled glass, plain or fancy. and top with the dark rum.
Sip and enjoy!

See ya'll later for Happy Hour!

Friday well, have had to get used to NOT having to feed Barney every few hrs.

What a gray afternoon and night yesterday1 Rained. At least today is clear. Walk outdoors was fantastic.

Its Friday! Farmers Market today.

Kelly: All I can say is things are mighty concerning with world events. All I can say is we need prayer!

Sunny: So sorry to hear about some still being w/o power since Monday. Good heavens. Thats awful.
Glad you had no damage.

Enjoy your luncheon today and getting ready for your visitors.

Glad to hear that Rich is doing well! HUGS

Jason has his pre-op physical (the first one, though done in May, didnt fit in their acceptable time frame. GRRRRRrr). Surgery is Friday 24 2015 a week from today. He (and I) are a little nervous, but we trust the surgeon, its laparoscipic and I know hell be fine. I will make sure of that!

Good Friday Morning Team. Hope this finds everyone doing well.

We had a horrible storm in Quincy Monday night and they are still cleaning up and according to the news they still have people without power. Mercy.

I was in Quincy at Bible Study when the storm hit but our church is on the West side of town so didn't have any major problems getting home. Came home to no damage here, PTL.

This morning I am going into Quincy for lunch with Dr. Swisher and Judy (from ER). I have not seen them in a very long time so looking forward to our time together.

Busy also getting ready from company from Kansas. Our friends were our first neighbors when we moved to Wichita in 1972 and we have maintained our friendship. So glad they are coming as I sure needed some motivation.

Rich is doing awesome! Barb, when is Jason's surgery? I know it is coming up soon. Sharon, thanks for the link about your friend. She rocks!

Take care and have a Fab Friday. I am off to find something red to wear to town.

Hugs, Sunny

Thanks for the tips Sharon. Using those cooling racks to bake or slow bake (whoopie slow bake, I use often) is one of those, why didn't anyone think of that sooner ideas. Of course a foil wrap is a must.

How's your friends Mom doing? See, there is always a reason to hang on to medical stuff you never know when someone will need it.

Your friend nailed it, thanks for sharing it and will pass it along to the Nashville team.

My heart goes out to those Marines families. At least that nut is taking a DRT nap. If those dweebs in DC don't wake up. I was listening to several vets from the Nam era and they said even over there they were not armed on base. Guess that was one advantage to John being a Merchant Marine, they packed aboard ship probably most of the time did not feel a need to carry ashore, just assumed every one could protect themselves at all times. Our daughter's long time friend lives in that community. Of course they locked down the Capitol bldg here.

Oh my, haven't seen it but just heard there is a video of a kid in Connecticut that has figured out a way to arm a drone! Lord luv a duck, really?

It's Friday, will have my RED on. Will have a glass of wine at the market instead of at 3. I was going to volunteer to help set up but it is going to be a scorcher again so I'm going to pass. Where we have the market is ACE hardware and a restaurant with bar, we usually sit on the patio, in this heat, no. Of course, across the street is an Irish place.

Okay, have a good one, HUGS all around. HaHa, posting about the same time as Barb. You did a great job with Barney!
