Friday – Well, almost the weekend. Relatively sane yesterday, so for that I am grateful.

Jason gets home tonight late . . . glad of that too.

Happy Friday!

Sharon: We’re not OLD. We’re aging like fine wine.

Kelly: Mr. Spot got me up AGAIN, but this time he waited till 3 am. It was cold out! Not too bad now! Probably about 60, but raining.

Hugs and prayers for our soldiers, families and our country.

See y'all @ 3 pm, but I think it'll be indoors. Oh well!

Friday!!! Wearing RED with a touch of Blue. Along with a jacket. Whoa it is cold out, going to turn the heat on - gasp- just to take the chill off for a shower because it is down to 68 in here! That's without an open door. Stormed around us yesterday afternoon, all we got was some wind and clouds. Mooch decided to stay comfy until about 5:30 this morning.

Not much going on today, the pet rescue I work with is having a fundraiser downtown, still trying to decide if I'll go, probably will since it starts early. Tomorrow I'll be going to another cancer funraiser that Scott Hamilton and the Predators hockey team are doing.

Well, should get myself cleaned up and dressed so will see you all at 3, will raise a glass of wine with the fourleggers, I'm not taking Mooch to this one and she will be mad at me.

Hugs and Prayers, Lord knows we need all the help we can get.

HaHa, got delayed putting this on talking to our daughter. Sharon, hubby's not getting old, getting better with age. Although that trip to SS will make you temporarily age for sure.

Kelly: You have our weather from yesterday! It didn't storm, but it was plenty chilly ... and windy. Today it is still chilly (probably got up to 65) and a little windy, but not like yesterday.

Yup . . . Mooch and Mr. Spot . .. have to keep up with what's going on . . . which is usually NOTHING @ 4 am! LOL

Winter is rolling in big time it feels like...it's barely 60 this afternoon and it is getting ready to storm big time so I will be hunkered down inside with a little sumthin in a minute.

Well if Jason had time, he could go an hour up the road to Saratoga, they have a really nice old hotel there.

Really Mr. Spot, did something tell you to go check the weather out? Mooch sorta had the same reaction and is mad because the back door isn't open for her to run in and out.

Hugs and Prayers. And Cheers.

Thursday – Jas arrived safely in Albany. Busy w/meetings. UGH!

Was pleased with my opthamology visit. Pressures good! Eyes healthy – perfect 20/20/20 vision (yes, I have eyes in the back of my head! Just ask my kids! LOL) So, don’t need a check up for two years. I’ll take it. Now. The challenges left are my dental check up in October (YES! Again) and my endocrinology visit in IL in November – that is a big one. Fingers crossed. Know in my heart that my meds will probably have to be adjusted, but so be it.

Here’s to ALMOST FRIDAY!!!

Kelly: The meetings/presentations are going well for Jas, thankfully. He worked really hard getting prepared.

BWAHAHAHA! You’re too funny . . . and yes, maybe it was a stun thing H was wearing. Who knows!

OMG, Mr. Spot wanted out @ 4 am . . . it . . . was . . . C-O-L-D! He spent about 1 min. out there and headed back. What is this poor guy gonna day when Winter hits!

Sharon: Ahhhhhhh . . .. well, he’s in Albany NY so, nopers, LOL, not a luxury resort. Poor baby! LOL

Yeah, I wondered about H being fed answers, too. But, we . .. . shall . .. see

Hugs and prayers for our soldiers, families and our country.

See y’all @ 3 pm.

Sharon, what makes a meatloaf Tuscan? Anytime you can jazz up meatloaf, I'm in.

I'll look at the link later. They were allowed to bring crib notes with them, I think they were both wired for mic's, since she was busted earlier you'd think that is the first place they check. Oh wait it's Hitlary, nevermind. At first thought, that back bulge was a stun thing to keep her upright or suppress the coughing fits.

Pup let me sleep in this morning. Someone left the chill chest open, just kidding but geez, go from high 90's to whatever it is now in less than 48. Had some heavy down pours last night, luckily it was while in the meeting, hate to be driving on the interstate in that stuff. Huge lightening away from us though.

Nothing exciting around here today, should work on fall cleaning but it's too nice for that. Anyway will see you gals on the porch at 3!

Hey all. Sorry for the late check in. Busy day today. Out until almos 4 PM. Then came home made 2 Tuscan meat loaves; one for dinner tomorrow, and one to freeze. So now dinner is taken care of for tomorrow.

Kelly and Barb you need to stop having those zero dark thirty clandestine meetings.
Barb did Jason go to another one of those "terrible places" for his business trip?

Been thinking about the debate - how can you not? It's all over the news. . . I'm wondering . . . the way Hillary spoke, in short succinct phrases and answers, and kept looking down at the podium - I wonder if she was wearing an earpiece again?

Just found this - confirms my suspicions:

Sunny good to see you back, and glad you had a good trip.

Thirty glad DH came through!

I'm amazed that I didn't need a nap this afternoon, I slept for a good 4 hours so guess that's all I needed. And yes, early snooze time for me, I left the mtg early. Oh and hope Jason's trip is uneventful.

Happy Dreams everyone!

Kelly: THOUGHT I heard Mooch lurking about! Mr. Spot, too. EArly to bed tonight, that's for sure.

Well, I can tell you I wouldn't be in any shape to go to a meeting of any kind tonight! They'd hear the sound of me snoring!

Mooch must have known you were up at 3, she got me up then too! Just to say Hi. Well that was that for the day. I have a meeting tonight that I really want to skip but can't, I won't be staying for the whole thing for sure.

For sure about Christmas shopping here too. Actually except for little stuff, everyone (especially the kids) wants gift cards so that's easy. I still find myself buying other things along the way though. Maybe being in a different area adds to the excitement of buying. Good you had a great trip, take it easy for the next couple of days.

Laughing at your hubby Thiry, sorry. I can just imagine. And for sure they should offer something because they won't hire someone to fix it right.

Started out to eat my lunch at the lake, got side tracked but had some tea at 3. Fresh air in the house has been so nice.

Hey Sharon

Well, should get a move on...see ya tomorrow!

Wednesday – Bodaciously early morning. Jas was picked up @ 3:45 this morning, so up around 3 am. Oh well.

Mom’s carer/angel is here @ 7:30 am then I head off for an eye appointment. I believe I’ll be in line for a nap this afternoon, I HOPE.

Thiry: Glad DH took the hint!

Good luck w/the tub repair!

Sunny: YIKES! Don’t even have my list yet, let alone shopping for Christmas!

Uh oh on the sleep! That’s a toughie.

Sharon and Kelly: Waiting on the porch with sumthin-sumthin!

Hugs and prayers for our soldiers, families and our country.

See y’all . . . SOON!

Hi everyone! Happy Wednesday. We are home from Kansas and did have a wonderful trip.
I even got some Christmas shopping done. Yea!

We did watch the debates and found HRC very condescending but that's her any way. I felt like at times she was very rehearsed and ?? if she was being fed the answers or reading her answers. You could definitely tell she has spent the better part of her political career learning how to speak and what to say. Trump did his best and from the reports, CNN, etc. had him the winner. Of course, most of the Liberal presses awarded the win to HRC. I felt like the monitor's interruption of Trump was done more than it was necessary. Ugh... I think he will do much better in October.

Today, laundry and rest. I am not sleeping well - can't say exactly why but hopefully tonight will be better.

Take care and have a blessed day.

BARB – Yes, and I think he realized Sunday evening that I was really upset as when we were getting gas and heading home after church Sunday he asked what the plan for the day was. I said we needed to get the carpets cleaned from the cats getting sick and that I needed to go through the stuff on the coffee table. He proceeded to eat lunch and go to sleep while I was working on my pants (I didn’t get to the sorting). When he got up and finally started looking for supper I told him I had already eaten (I was angry and upset so ate my supper early). I know he could tell I was upset and that he needed to get busy and do something to help around the house so he finally got to the carpets.

KELLY – yes, snug but comfy – They aren’t going to be so tight that I need to lie down to be able to close the waist band and zip nor so tight that they leave red marks on my waist but yet a little snug so I don’t have to worry about taking them in again for a while. When these are finished I then need to work on replacing the pocket in all my black pants as the material that was used when they were made has frayed so I technically don’t have any pockets due to the big holes due to the fraying. After that who know what I will decide to work on next.

SHARON – No, I didn’t watch the debates as I have no desire to listen to all the lies that they are telling trying to get people to vote their way.

SUNNY – Hope you are doing well.

OMG what a rotten day at work today by 10:30 I was thinking I should have just stayed home today. The program that I use for the kids attendance records was working really slow today even to the point of my having to shut down the program twice because it froze for me and that was in addition to my having to shut it down shortly after I got there because of updates and another time due to a “system error”. In addition to that I was trying to scan the order sheets to my email so I could forward them to the company for processing and the scans were not coming to my email. After twice doing the whole stack of 62 and them not showing up in my email I decided to try half at a time. This finally worked but then as I was forwarding the scanned order forms to the representative one of them didn’t go through so I had to resend it. She got it the second time. Needless to say I was very frustrated. I went to the gym right after work to work off the frustration

I received a call from the complex office today to let me know they have someone coming to the apartment Friday to “repair” the tub again. Shortly after we moved in DH put his heal through the end of the tub by the facet and overflow and ever since they keep “repairing” this spot due to the fact that it keeps cracking and leaking to the apartment below. Every time this happens we are unable to use the tub until it is “repaired” plus the 24 hours after they work on it. They say that they can’t replace the tub while we are in the apartment as that would be considered a remodel and that it would take a week to complete. I can’t believe that as I hear almost every day on the radio advertisements for replacing tube in a day. I think we should get some compensation for all the time we are unable to use the bathtub due to the fact that they keep messing with “repairs/resurfacing”. Well enough complaining for tonight. Hopefully tomorrow will be a much better day. I start the day at one of the sites answering parent questions about Title XX and finish the day listening to my favorite performer as Bill is at the Ozone. I guess we will also find out if the manager was serious about covering out dinner as he said the last time we were there and didn’t get any service.

Have a great week everyone.
Thiry

Tuesday – Well . . . the closing. . . is . . . done. NOW all that is left is getting the pay off. So glad this is all done!

Fall weather here for sure. Windy, but sunny and I am loving it.

Kelly: Plop, plop, fizz, fizz --- oh what a relief it is .. . that the condo sale if finalized. OMG. Only glitch is the gol darn bank gave the wrong routing # for the funds to be transferred, so the check had to be express overnighted here. Thank goodness it arrived this morning. Let’s just say there was a LOTTA wailing and gnashing of teeth going on. **SIGH**

Sharon: Ah well, have to admit I fell asleep during the debates. Just . . . tooo . . . tired. Not surprised that Lester ran interference. Oh my gosh. So much for unbiased, eh!

Well, definitely a little sumthin-sumthin today @ 3. Thinking maybe a mimosa. Mom liked the bubbly yesterday – dad was too verklempt to partake. **SIGH** Today . . . better.

Hugs and prayers for our soldiers, families and our country . . . BIG PRAYERS

The fun continues with the banner mess - a few days ago I smacked it with the adblockerplus, to get even with me I can't get points for reading articles. I held off for a few days because it sometimes corrects itself but it didn't so I asked if this was the tower's doing, of course not it is my cookies (whatever those are), blah blah blah and gave a a couple of links to try to fix it. What it comes down to, disable your plus and it'll fix itself. As I told Coach Merle, points aren't important enough for me to do that, thank you for your help. Well, it's your choice.

Really, really nice out today! Airing out the house.

Didn't bother watching last night, sad truth is...danged if he did or didn't he will be hung out for being sexist, rude from what I understand he didn't take her to the woodshed on much of anything.

Well, should run out and grab some vitaD, will see you all on the porch at 3, more bubbly from yesterday.

emoticon Glad the closing went through without a hitch, Barb. I know the feelings that go along with that, and hope they are short lived.

Wow, I thought I came by yesterday!

Hope things are going well for everyone. Nothing of note her on this end. Did you watch the debate last night? Once again the media runs interference for the Dems! Did he ever call out any of Clinton's inaccuracies? Nope. Kept interrupting Trump, and said nothing when audience responded to Dem remarks. Can't believe Trump didn't keep drilling on the emails, and dishonesty.

Have a good one ladies!

BARB – Good to hear that the closing went off today without a hitch. Enjoy the bubbly celebration.

KELLY – Yes it is nice to have something so fun so close. I just wish the weather had cooperated with the winery so they could have had a huge Harvest Festival. The way it turned out I don’t think they made enough to cover their expenses this weekend as I think there were only about 50-75 people there this weekend. Other events similar to this they have had probably 200-300 people in attendance. We had a good time even with the rain. No, I haven’t had a chance to go looking for a dress yet as we have had things going on almost every weekend so far. Hopefully this weekend I can go looking around. Yes there is changes in the body and when I finish altering the waist of these pants they are going to be a snug (but comfy) fit as I don’t want to have to alter them too often,

SHARON – Hope you are doing well and had a good day.

SUNNY – Hope you are doing well.

Today got warmer than predicted but still cool. It’s only supposed to be in the 70’s all week and lows in the 40’s.

Busy day at work today. I was working when the HR director came to me asking if I could go up to the front and cover until the temp arrived. The temp that was scheduled to work called in sick today and tomorrow with a migraine. Luckily the HR director had a laptop that had one of the programs on it that I needed to do some of my work otherwise I would have been sitting there for 1-1.5 hours twiddling my thumbs. That would have been a long boring time. After my workout I got to the store to get the thread I need to finish altering my pants and when I got home DH was shampooing the rest of the carpets that he didn’t get done last night. Not much else to report tonight. Hope everyone had a good night.

Have a great week everyone.
Thiry

Popped a top, saved some to share with you and your Mom and Dad. It isn't easy and happy to see he understands. Geez, I can not even imagine what he is feeling; sending him a hug.

Had my hand on Proseco, thought it was awfully cheap but the owner sometimes gets generous with a discount, got home and it's Spumante. Works anyway, forgotten how sweet it is though.

Oh and Sharon, I was laughing about oiling the shredder and thinking well I have an old can of WD40 in the garage, then I thought that might be a bit much and thought of the other stuff and couldn't remember the name of it (but I could see the little can). It's on the grocery list or maybe pick it up tomorrow at ACE, need a couple of other things.

Off to get some bubbly too!

Monday – hoping and praying all goes well for the closing. Sad to close this chapter but wish the young buyer good luck and that he loves the condo as much as Mom and Dad did.

Rained last night . . . stormed actually. BUT no rain now. PHEW. Still wet out, though.

The carer will be here shortly, so off I go.

Thiry: Yes, fingers and everything else crossed. Today’s the day. You had a busy day!

Kelly: Yes, there are just times when cooking from the freezer is the best thing.

Let’s see . . . anything alcoholic will do for the celebratory closing drink. YIKES! Yes, it is a very hard day for Dad, but again, he knows it’s best and is sort of relieved.

Cool here, but loving it!

Wow! Congrats to your grandson!

Sunny and Sharon: Hope all is well!

Defnitely will see y’all @ 3 and yes, probably with some bubbly. Have to get to the store!

Oh wow, biting? Missing out on some fun hopefully helped. Other than biting back, haha just kidding, have no clue. Luckily It wasn't an issue with my two that I can remember. Looks like you had a great time Sharon. Guessing Bocce will be on the family gift list this year? Yum on trying and liking a new flavor.

I thought about pizza too, realized didn't have anything to make one, did not feel like going up the road for one and sure as heck am not going to pay a delivery charge. So I had pasta and chicken which was fine because now I have at least one other meal done. I've been sorta cooking out of the freezer this month, made a huge dent in it, literally only have a pork tenderloin and a whole bunch of freggies in there now. Time to restock. Now to revisit the pantry.

I think we should come up with a celebratory drink for the closing. Something with bubbly. It's rarely ever easy under any circumstances, hugs to your parents. And you two.

Nice to have something fun so close to home Thiry. Since you are having to alter your pants, your bod is changing more than the scale so take that NSV and run with it. The rest will follow. Have you taken time to look for an awesome dress yet?

Well, they promise cooler temps tomorrow, although this morning it is very overcast and cool enough to have the back door open. Oh wow, just heard cool is moving in a day early - high of 80, wet stuff tomorrow.

Our grandson is finally at SanDog! Son didn't make it out for the retirement ceremony of his buddy; bittersweet moment to watch one long storied career end and another one begin. Along with the retirement, comes a new Commanding Officer of the Ship taking over so it was quite a production from the pictures. Note to self, we can not delete posts so I hope the BUDs pin ups are safe, grandson will have a kanipshon.

See you lassies at 3! Will grab some bubbly, maybe add some cider to it. Meanwhile, hugs and prayers. Yesterday was Gold Star Mom's Day and thought I acknowledged it.

BARB – Thanks, I just wish the scale was moving a bit more as at this rate I won’t meet my goal to be under 200 by my son’s wedding. Good to hear that there haven’t been any more calls regarding the closing. At this point I would say it’s a go for the closing otherwise they would have notified you and postponed the closing (I worked at 3 different title companies in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s). Good to hear that you were able to get a break yesterday; we all need one of those days occasionally

KELLY – Yesterday was the Harvest Festival at the winery that is only 8 miles away. It was cool and rainy yesterday and only got to the 70’s today. That was a really neat thing that happened when you were getting your meat. It’s always nice when something like that happens. Those Garbage balls sound interesting.

SHARON – I have used the oil on my shredder in the past but haven’t done it monthly but only when I think about it. I know I should be more vigilant about it. I try to shred as I go but sometimes it is late when I am trying to shred and have to wait until another time (quite time in the complex that others don’t respect). Those brats sound good, may have to pick some up for us in the near future. Sounds like all had a fun day yesterday with DGD. Hopefully they will figure out a way to get DGS to stop biting. MY kids also bit but never really figured out a way to get them to stop.

SUNNY – Hope you are doing well.

We went to the Harvest Festival and spent most of the day. It rained off and on all day so only a few people showed up. We listened to the 2 different performances between 1:00 and 6:30. When the 3 group got ready to perform they set up inside so DH and I packed out picnic basket and goodies and headed home as we couldn’t take the food inside and didn’t feel like moving twice. They did manage to get the grape stomping context in between rain showers. After we got home we sat down to watch the Nebraska football game. I lasted about 45 minutes before falling asleep. I slept for about 3 hours before waking up again. Of course then I was awake for a while before I could fall asleep again.

Today after church DH and I went to get gas in my car so I have enough to get me through the week. As I was putting gas in my car I overheard the walkie talkie on the attendant and someone in the store was saying “there is nobody in wireless today they will have to call back tomorrow.” I didn’t think anything about it until a little while later when I heard “Call on line 1 for wireless, call on line 1 for wireless.” A few seconds later I heard, “I just told you there is nobody in wireless today they will have to call back tomorrow.” At this point I thought wow someone isn’t listening. I got back in the car laughing and told DH about what I had just heard. After getting home I had DH put a couple pins in the leg of my pants as I have known for a long time that they needed hemmed and as I walked through the kitchen I stepped on them and slipped. With this I decided it was time to do something about them. While working on hemming the pants I looked at the waist band and saw that there was a seam at the side seam of the waist and told myself that because of that it wouldn’t be that hard to take the waist in so I started on that also. I have them partially done and now started doing the same with the other pair of pants that are the same style as they also need hemmed and the waist taken in. I have them ready to take to the sewing machine but since DH is finally working on cleaning the carpets due to the cats getting sick and whatever he did in the spare bedroom I am probably going to have to finish them tomorrow. I also need to get some thread for the top stitching on both pair as I won’t be able to finish that with the thread colors I have right now. I can use what I have for the inside seams but the top stitching needs matching thread so I’ll have to stop by the store on my way home tomorrow to get what I need.

I brought the plants in from the balcony tonight as it is supposed to get down in the 40’ every night this week. I found a little present in the one planter as I brought it in the house. I got my picture taken and now will have to find the email address to send it in the office.

Have a great week everyone.
Thiry

Sharon: found this like to an article about how to handle biting. Hope it helps. Never went thru that with my kids, but it is something many toddlers do.

glad you had a good day! Sounds like fun w/DGD.

Hey all! Quick drive-by. Just got home from spending the afternoon with DS, and DGD. We met at a playground up near their neck of the woods. Nice with lots of equipment for kids to climb on.

Lots of open space to play bocce. We introduced our GD to the game last Sunday at her request when they came here for the afternoon. She asked us to bring it with us today, and she did great!

Then we went for ice cream to nearby Baskin Robbins. She tried Mint Chocoate Chip for the fist time, and asked for a sugar cone with that. She had been a vanilla girl up til now for the most part.

DGS bit his sister but good this morning. DS he almost broke skin. That's one reason we met at playground. He got to stay home and be punished with mommy. Any of you have some good suggestions for DS on how to curb the biting?

It was a beautiful sunny day here. Got up in mid 70s. BEAUTIFUL FALL DAY today!

Barb, glad you got a break from KP yesterday. When's the closing date?

Kelly, you can buy printer oil on Amazon, but I just use 3 in 1 Oil. My dad always swore by that stuff, and it seems to be doing the trick. I shred as I go now, too.

Got to run to get dinner on. Pizza night! emoticon To all of you!

Sunday – nice day yesterday. Did get a break . . . got to go out to eat. Not a real fan of restaurant food, but enjoyed the break from kitchen duties!

Fall-ish weather. Think it’s really supposed to cool off this week. Ah well . . . cozy inside!

Have a great Sunday.

Kelly: Yes, I do my shredding as I go, too. Otherwise it gets to be a monumental task w/FIVE people living in this house getting mail . . . most of it 100% pure junk.

Yup . . . will be sooooooooo ever0lovin’ glad ot be DONE DONE DONE with all the closing stuff. Will definitely celebrate with happy dance!!!

Wow! Not as hot here for sure as by you. Uper 70’s and pleasant.

Glad you got a good sleep . . . . sorta.

I’ll bet Moch enjoyed the roast beef! DUH! Why wouldn’t pup enjoy it! Right?!?

GARBAGE BALLS! Now that sounds just plain wrong! LOLOL BUT delicious!

Ok, back @ 3 pm for sumthin-sumthin!

HUGS and prayers for our soldiers, families and our country!

Printer oil??? Never heard of it, never used it...of course never used it if I never heard of it. haha. Never heard of shredder oil either, but it makes sense when you think sometimes I just feed it the unopened envelope and some of that glue is sticky. I've gotten back into the habit of shredding as i go instead of letting it pile up to shred while watching a game or something boring. I know, risking burning out the motor that way.

So Thiry, what mischief did you two get into yesterday since you've filled your passports?

Here's to kissing the closing company bye bye tomorrow Barb.

90+ day and matching humidity yesterday, out most of the day in it. Too much fresh air if you asked my attitude. At least I was doing fun stuff and not working a booth or anything like that. And I was - are you ready - asleep by 10!, awake at 11, pup, again at 1, pup, and again before 4 again pup. All potty breaks or checking on the rabbits and chipmunks. Of course she is snoozing nice and comfy right now. Funny thing yesterday morning at 5:25, she got me up. At the very same time, it happened at a friends house - all 4 of her pack decided it was time to get up and chase their gophers. She is one of those pup rescuers, just pulled from animal control the cutest senior mutt with a huge overbite who is settling in like he'd always been there. I hope he finds his furever home soon.

Oh I had the nicest thing happen yesterday, stopped at the deli for some roastabeef for pups meds (okay sammies for me too). She sliced mine off, bagged it then turned around and put the end piece left in the slicer in the bag and said tell pup to enjoy it! Thank you so very much! I could not tell you when the last time that happened. Oh and as I'm headed for the milk and great memory popped in my head. John's dad made what we lovingly called, garbage balls. He would go to the deli (true deli), get the end pieces of whatever he could. Grind them, mix with whatever, roll into balls and fry them. Gone in a flash. We were not allowed in the kitchen as he mixed them, same with his famous turkey dressing. We have been able to pretty much figure that one out but the garbage balls, close but not it. So Dad I know you are laughing at us for over thinking them but we have fun trying.

Hilarious! I'm listening to a program that just played a clip of the Reagan Mondale debates. Question to Reagan about how at his age would he be able to handle a crisis (lack of sleep etc), Regan said he would not use his opponents youth and inexperience against him or something like that. I remember that and that Mondale nearly fell down laughing at it.

Hugs and Prayers, see ya at 3.

Saturday – pretty mellow day yesterday! Mom did pretty well w/the carer yesterday. Wonderful!

Took the time to make a pot roast in the crock pot, which will last for a few meals. YEAH!!!!!!! Love my crock pot. LOVE IT. Takes prep work, but then . . . the . . . work . . . is . . . DONE!

Feeling Fallish. High maybe near 70F. That’s all right . . . that’s comfortable.

Otherwise . . . SHHHHHH . . . . no 9-1-1 calls regarding the closing on Monday. Hallelujah. I think that the management corporation for the condo assn. is afraid of me! LOLOL GOOOD.

Have a great weekend.

Thiry: Hurray on the scale movement! Awesome. You’re working heard!

You are so thorough and organized. Frustrating when OTHERS that you have to work with are NOT. But sounds like you have things in hand.

Kelly: Will look for you in spirit at 3!

Sharon: Had to head back to your blog for a laugh to start the day off, too! Sooooooo funny! Thank you.

Hey, thanks for the tip on how to oil the shredder. Going to do that!

Hugs and prayers for our soldiers, families and our country.

See y’all (and you in spirits, Kelly!) at 3.

Good Morning! It's Saturday. . . Yaaawwwn. Fell like I just want to snuggle down under the covers again. DH still sleeping.

Glad you liked the blog, ladies.

Nothing pressing on the agenda today. Getting into the fall mindset. Bought some fresh bratwurst last night at Whole Foods for lunch. Should be good. It was on sale $3 off per pound - $3.99 a pound.

Thirty, I'd go for the shredder. Forget the cheap stuff - they usually overcharge for it. If you get one, be sure to oil it once a month, and that should keep it running smoothly for quite awhile. I just take a sheet of paper I'm going to shred anyway, and dot it all owner with the printer oil and then shred it. Works well and a lot cheaper than the specialized sheets they sell.

Kelly, hope you have a blast today! Catch ya later.

Barb, hope you get some much needed sanity, and R&R in today. Hope your mom has a good day, too.

Sunny, hope you arrived safely, and are enjoying yourself.

Hugs to all! See ya later!

Another home run on your lunancy!!! Read it last night and think I'll mosie on over and have another great laugh.

I'd go for the shredder and the gift cards, the candy is probably stale and an odd lot kind no one else would buy.

Enjoy your trip Sunny.

And Barb, hope all is quiet in your homefront.

Busy day today, so much going on around town not sure I'll get to all of them. Seems like every organization picked today, so I picked three - two are local the other across town so it isn't too bad.

So will likely miss you at 3 but will be thinking of you and will have some wine with dinner later.

Hugs and Prayers CUL8R!!!

BARB – Glad you had a relative sane day yesterday and definitely hope that the sane days continue for you. I’m finally seeing some movement on the scale again so that is good.

KELLY – I woke up needing to go to the bathroom, then posted what I had written, snuggled down and went back to sleep. No the points haven’t expired but my rep told me to start using them. I haven’t heard back from the Executive Director on how she wants to spend the points yet but hopefully soon. Some of the stuff is junk in my book as some of the items we can get with the points are candy but there are also a $30 or a $50 VIZA gift card and also being able to purchase %50 off any invoice option along with being able to purchase a cross cut shredder. Good to hear that Mooch had a better night. Hopefully it will continue for both of you.

SHARON – Yes I was able to get back to sleep. According to my Fitbit I was awake about 25 minutes so that wasn’t too bad. Most of the stuff that is on the rewards was candy but there was the gift cards, the $50 off any invoice, cross cut shredder along with a few other items that I can remember right now which included a coffee maker. There were a few other
things but I can’t remember what they were right now.

SUNNY – Sorry to hear about the cataracts. Hope you have safe travels.

Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes for DS.

Another busy day today as when I got within a few blocks of the one site I go to on Fridays to pick up the parent payments for my deposit I realized that I had forgotten the envelope of forms that I was supposed to take to that site. When I got there the site director was at the front desk, I haven’t seen her for quite some time and yesterday she had sent me an email asking if I could attend a billing day on 10/7 to explain Title XX benefits to anyone with questions as well as check on benefits for some that say they have it. Well when I walked up to the desk to get the money after checking the mail boxes she looked at me and said, “you do realize that the billing day in not for 2 weeks don’t you” to which I answered yes but I stop by here every Friday to pick up my deposit money. Now she has been the site director since November and has seen me there numerous times in the past but yet didn’t remember that I stop in every Friday. After stopping at the other site I headed to the office arriving about 5 minutes before my webinar was to begin. Needless to say I was rushing to get logged in and print my information to look at during the session. After the session started I was not only listening to the information but also trying to get my deposit ready as it would be picked up before the session got over. Then I thought about the temp at the front desk so on my break during the webinar I went up and asked if she had been told that I would have an armored currier stopping in to pick up my deposit. She hadn’t so I went back and printed a copy of the pictures I was sent and took them up to her pointing out the usual currier so she would know who he was when he arrived. After the webinar got over I worked on a few other things before getting down to organizing the orders so I can get them processed and sent off to the representative as the staff are already asking when they will get their shirts. I left the office a little early so I could take the forms to the other site on my way home. I ended up talking to a few people that I haven’t seen for quite some time so didn’t get to the gym until about an hour after when I usually get there so I ended up shortening my workout so I could get out of there about the same time as usual.

Have a great weekend everyone.
Thiry

Happy Friday!

Quick check-in then out to run errands, and back to do Happy Hour blog.

Kelly, what is the Monster Mash cocktail? Can you post it on our Fall A Buzz board? Sorry to hear about Mooch. Glad to read that she is feeling a little better now.

If you care to contribute your 2 cents worth on that stupid banner, here is the link to the thread I started:

They must now consider me a royal PITA. I told them this morning that it amounts to strong arm bullying. And I don’t know about you, but it most definitely starts to give me a headache when I see it. I sent it off to Adblock Plus to see if they can somehow come up with something to block it. Just to reiterate, the more people that comment, the more they might change it.

Thiry hope you went right back to sleep, too! Hope your son had a happy Birthday, and enjoyed his evening out. My DH has worked with companies that offered those employee awards. Mos of the stuff was just cheap stuff for thousands of points. Good luck with it, and I hope yours is different.

Have my red on,, too, and following Kelly, adding navy blue shorts for our emergency men in uniform. I think these “protests” are just a smoke screen to get attention off “her highness”, and the current court jester.

Barb, glad things are slowing back down to normal for you. Hope it stays that way.

Got to run. Catch ya later!

Friday – Dare I say yesterday was relatively sane (shhhhh!) So, hope that continues into today.

Mom’s carer comes this morning. Have a few chores to do, so will hopefully get them done.

Have a great Friday!

Thiry: Nice you got to talk with your DS in GA for his b-day. Happy birthday to him!

Do well @ the gym.

Kelly: Glad Mooch had a better night.

For sure, seems we need more than prayers. But . . . will continue with ‘em.

Sharon and Sunny: hope you’re having a good Friday.

Hugs and prayers for our soldiers, families and our country.

See y’all @ 3 PM.

Thiry I was ready to give you a finger wag for being up at that hour but you 'splained yourself. Hope you went right back to sleep! Happy birthday to your son. Interesting job you have, hope whatever those points aren't expired and they aren't for just junk stuff.

Mooch had a good night last night, is very lethargic this morning and snoozing after getting me up at 5 for her morning snack (I was awake anyway). Wasn't interested in breakfast just her morning "cookie". Meds are later so she'll perk up since that means people food to get them down.

Friday, already? Will have my RED on with blue for our LEO's. Prayers don't seem to be enough. But putting them out there anyway. See you lassies at 3 for tea, market this afternoon followed by a fundraiser.

BARB – Glad you were storm free today and hopefully none of us has too many more “don’t ask, just pour” days.

KELLY – Yes I have lots of patience with DH as I have found over the years we’ve known each other that he is not good at remembering things so he has to be reminded so that is the way it is in our lives. It was funny the day in Norfolk that I had to pick up DH from the police station, I told my friend that I almost felt like I needed to stop by the house to change my pants as I was afraid that they would see the small rip in the side seam and arrest me for indecent exposure then when I went to get the cars out of the impound the officer who happened to be the husband of a coworker at my motel job asked to see my driver’s license. As I handed it to him I said I was almost afraid to give it to him for fear that he may find something wrong and I might end up in jail. Needless to say DH is not a git r dun type of person. Sorry to hear that Mooch and you had a rough night. Hopefully tonight will be better.

SHARON – Hope you have had a good day.

SUNNY – Sorry to hear about the cataracts. Hope you have safe travels.

I forgot to mention last night that DS (in Georgia) and I had a short chat as yesterday was his birthday. He had a good day and was on his way out for supper when we were chatting.

Busy day today. I got the bad debt accounts written off (nearly $40,000.00) and new receivable reports printed, 46 accounts sent to get signatures for parent refunds and already received one back to process the check, 8 accounts prepared with form and backup to see about getting the parents (employees) to sign up for payroll deduction to help get their account paid so I can close them out. After all that I had a meeting with the Payless Office representative. After our meeting I went back and checked out the “rewards” and found that in the 2 years of placing orders 40,061 reward points have piled up as I didn’t know about it or how to redeem them. I talked with the CFO about possibilities to get off the rewards list and he said I should contact the Executive Director to get her opinion on how to use these points so I got that sent off. Then I planned to go through the order forms and put the information in a spreadsheet to get sent off for the fall order thinking since I had 1.75 hour I should get through most of them. Wrong, I only got through 3 as the CFO came to me asking if there was a report I could give him on the amount of money we received from CACFP and Title XX for the fiscal year that just ended for Educare so I ended up working on that. I also had the Director of finance asking for a report on the money received from Title XX for the OELC sites from 3/15 to present. We looked at some spreadsheets that I have been keeping and the EOP’s I receive for the payments then I ended up pulling the EOP’s for one of the 2 OELC sites and giving them to him to look through as he said the money recorded (by the 2 temps we used to have) and the reports I have aren’t matching up. Just before I left I gave him the EOP’s of the other site. Hopefully the order will get processed tomorrow as the order deadline was a week ago and I haven’t had time to process them yet. Needless to say what I did get done today got quite a bit off my desk that has been there for some time.

After work I was off to the gym to get my workout in. As I was leaving DH called and asked me to stop by the store for more tortilla shells as he was “making something different for supper”. So by the store I went, then home to eat supper (he made way too much so have supper for tomorrow), laundry and dishes. As I sat down with my computer to record my information on SparkPeople I had Bubbles climbing all over my lap and legs, then Storm came across the back of the couch and climbed down on my right shoulder/chest. He slept there for a while until I moved enough the he couldn’t stay sleeping. Well better get my shower and try to get to sleep as tomorrow will be another busy day as I have a 3 hour training webinair starting at 8 am. It’s going to be a rough time trying to stay awake for the program at that time of the morning.

Ooops, I fell asleep while proofing this so here it is now. Back to sleep.

Have a great week everyone.

Sunny: Oh boy. Welcome to the cataract crew. Had both mine done 3 yrs. ago. Best decision I ever made. No glasses, see clearly. It’ll be all right.

Just behave on the road! Be safe. Got that bubble ready.

Kelly: Did ya notice the banner? Huh. Gosh. $$$$$

Sorry you and Mooch had such a rough night. Glad you got a little rest, and Mooch is feeling better.

Joining you w/the sumthin-sumthin.

Sharon: Yes, better day today. PHEW.

Sippin' the monster mash, I am going to say this will be more of a night cap. Or one of those just pour days.

This is likely going to be an early night, been up most of the night with Mooch. She is fine now but had a really anxious and restless night, got up with her about 4 and she was just pacing and panting and her heart rate was off the chart. Even reiki didn't help. She finally settled, about noon I turned on golf, I crashed for about half and hour, she was in such a deep sleep it scared me that her heart was stopping. She's doing well now.

The banner doesn't bother me so much, I scroll it out of the picture, as that danged pastel font they use in the reply box. It's that is everywhere. We told them if they kept selling themselves the way they were adblockers would become very well used.

I'm with you on this one, Kelly. I posted a thread on the Community Message Board under Site/Technical Help asking them to change it because it's giving me a headache. Spread the word, and go add your two cents! OBNOXIOUS is right!

Sunny, sorry to hear you have cataracts! Safe travels and enjoy your trip.

Barb hope things are going better for you!

Hugs and signing off cause of that stupid banner! Will check back in later!

I am so sorry. Just when I think I will do better, life shows up and sets me straight on my thinking. Ugh.

It has been a busy week and it's not over yet. We leave in the morning for Kansas. We haven't been there since December of last year. YIKES! I am planning on seeing friends also along with family so staying through Monday and headed back on Tuesday.

We had eye appointments on Tuesday and lucky me, I have cataracts so will see the eye surgeon on the 4th of October. Ugh...

I will try to do better when we return. I love you all!

Hugs, Sunny

Thiry: At least today is storm free!

Definitely had more than a few “don’t ask, just pour” days, but they’re coming to an end! Thank goodness.

Glad you made it to the gym and that choir went well!

Barb, ack!!! I'm thinking, shouldn't your realtor be helping you through this danged maze? Or do they just collect their share and skip happily down the road now? I felt a bit like just having a pour reading about it. I hope today goes without challenges and you can put your feet up and enjoy 3 o'clock. AND that the weather has cleared.

Thiry you are too funny, honestly, you are far more patient than I am after what happened the first time he didn't git r dun.

Sharon and Sunny, hope all is quiet on your end. Got nothing here - luckily!

Will check in later! Hugs and Prayers for our brave warriors, their families mostly our Country. We are screwed come Nov 8.

BARB – Sorry you are having so many storms but hopefully they don’t get severe. Hope you got a chance to relax. Glad you were able to get the fees straightened out; sorry it took so long to be able to get it done. Hopefully all papers are taken care of and you don’t get any more so the closing can be completed. Glad you were able to get your dad calmed down. Sounds like it was another “don’t ask, just pour” day for you. Thank goodness for treadmills, they can sure help relieve stress, that’s for sure.

KELLY – Thanks, the idea came to me as soon as I read the card in the store. I don’t always have ideas that quick but this time I did. Yes DH does need a calendar on his forehead but even if he did he probably wouldn’t look at it so it would be a waste of time preparing it. Actually the money to pay the fine was my car payment money so as soon as his check hits the bank I need to transfer the money back to my account to cover the payment. Needless to say that is why we didn’t go out for supper for his birthday. Hopefully pup is doing well. Glad the sleepless thing has left the building and hopefully not to return.

SHARON – yes I am glad that he got the ticket paid also as we dealt with a similar situation several years ago when he didn’t get the ticket paid. While living in Norfolk his truck got towed because he hadn’t moved it for a long time and when he went to pick it up they asked to see his driver’s license and when they checked on it the found it was suspended. This happened because of his not getting a ticket paid in time 3 years earlier although the ticket had been paid. When the money arrived the suspension wasn’t lifted so they arrested him and impounded the car also. I had to leave work to get him from the police station and then go get the car and truck from the impound. A friend and driver for the company I was working for drove me to pick up DH then to the impound both times to pick up the vehicles. I really appreciated his help and tried to give him money for his gas but he refused to take it. Actually I didn’t get any scratches while putting the paw prints on the card although they are a bit smudged because they guys didn’t like what was happening. It helps that they are all front declawed also.

SUNNY – Hope everything is going well for you.

Thank you to all for the birthday wishes for DH, I passed them on to him. I had a really busy day at work as I received a lot of emails asking about checking accounts to make sure they were correct and asking if kids had Title XX. Then it was time to work on the parent refunds which I got all my backup information together now tomorrow I need to fill out the refund forms and get them out for signatures. I have refunds to process then hopefully my boss will be ready for me to process the write off amounts so I can finish closing out a bunch of accounts for kids that are no longer attending. After that I will need to see about processing paperwork for auto withdrawals from parents that work for any of the 3 companies that had kids attending and haven’t paid their bills. Luckily there aren’t too many of them from what I can tell although I will probably need to have the payroll clerk double check some of the names with the staff list for the 3 companies.

I got to the gym after work but only had about an hour as we had choir practice tonight. I decided to try a different routine though as I was leaving the gym at 5 pm to try to get home, take a shower and possibly eat before leaving for choir. Tonight I decided to take a shower at the gym then drive home. I didn’t encounter as much traffic on the interstate on my way home although it did have a little congestion for about a mile on the trip. This was much better than trying to drive home in the rush hour traffic so I think I will continue to take a shower at the gym on Wednesdays. While we were at choir there was one point when the director said that one of the other ladies and I needed to talk after practice. Neither of us knew what it was about and were really curious. After practice we went to the choir director and she had me tell the other lady about our travels for the wine passports. She was interested so I went to the car and got a couple to take back in to her. I took all 4 that I had in the car and ended up giving 2 of them to other members of the choir on my way back in so while we are at the winery this Saturday for the Harvest Festival I will have to see if I can pick up a few more to have on hand in case someone else would like one. I think we have handed out about 30 passports to people that we have talked to over the year as we have traveled to the wineries.

Have a great week everyone.
Thiry

Sharon: Oh shucks. YUP YOU GOT IT. BAAAAAA D morning. I literally spent 3.5 hrs. on the phone getting yet another fee straightened out. Lord have mercy. Got it handled though. IT . . . IS . . . DISGUSTING.

I got an e-mail last night with YET MORE PAPERS TO BE SIGNED. WTH. (can I say that! GRRRRrrr.). I looked @ them but just double-checked w/Jas and at least they don’t have to be notarized. Holy cow! My Dad was ready to split a gasket. Had to get him a beer, get him calmed, get him to sign the papers, and then HAVE A DANGED GLASS OF WINE myself.

And for sure, the storms don’t help. Poor Mr. Spot is besides himself and Mom goes from room to room to “see if it’s still raining”. Uh, yeah. The skies are opened! Thunder and lightening. I think so. Oh well, finally settled down.

BAAAAAAD DAY! I am glad I have my treadmill, because that’s the only thing that kept me sane w/the eternal HOLD MUSIC trying to get things straightened out.

Howdy Gals!

Well, been busy as a beaver today without leaving this house.

Barb, you posted your check-in message on the Fall A Buzz cocktail board. Went to check to see if there was a new cocktail posted, and saw it. Must be a baaaad day. . . Hope it improves! Hope Mother Nature simmers down too! Better there than here. You sure have had your share of storms this summer. Is that normal for your neck of the woods?

Kelly, hope you are doing well, and your meeting went OK. Glad you tried the Burpsie Durpsie. Works wonders doesn't it?! I've done them for nausea, too. DH has used them for heartburn. and yes, it does taste WAY BETTER than Alka Seltzer!

Thiry, happy belated birthday to DH, and good thing he got that ticket paid on time or he would have received one heck of a birthday present! emoticon You sure got creative with that birthday car. How many scratches do you have from the paw prints?

Sunny hope you are doing well. We miss you here.

Hugs,
Sharon

Wednesday – So glad that the paperwork is now done for the condo. Got it sent off.

Storming like a banshee right now. Thunder, lightening, hail and heavy rain. Dang!

That’s about all the news that’s fit to print. Just a busy day yesterday and the carer will be here shortly. Tomorrow . . . hope it’s a little relaxing.

Thiry: Yes, that’s about the only thing left intact is her sense of humor. Blessings!

Happy birthday to DH!

Kelly: WAY tastier than Alka Seltzer1 LOL

BWAHAHAHA! I give my fur baby his pills in peanut butter. Otherwise he'd just as soon forget about 'em too! LOL Smart fur babies.

HUGS ladies.

Hugs and prayers for our soldiers, families and our country.

See y'all @ 3 pm.

Well Sharon, that's tastier than alka seltzer; since I'm allergic to aspirin works for me! Who would have thought that would work - well you did. Always on top of things.

I had wine instead with dinner, forgot to pick up Triple Sec! It is on my list today for sure. Oh and I managed to sleep longer than 3 hours last night. So I think that sleepless thing has left the building - til next time.

What a clever idea for a birthday card Thiry!!! Geez, hubster needs a calendar stuck to his forehead to keep up with those important things and not put them off like that, oh and belated birthday wishes to him. Nag first, celebrate later, bad habit. Lucky for him you had $$$ left.

I find if I'm on the computer even an hour before bed time, I'm not going to settle in and sleep. I have enough trouble anyway so I rarely get on.

Time to give pup her meds, she is reminding me it is time (hey I wrap those pills in meat otherwise she'd be ignoring me.

BARB – Glad you have finished the paperwork and got it sent off to the title company. Now hopefully they don’t come up with anything to postpone the closing. So glad that Alzheimer’s hasn’t taken your mom’s sense of humor that is a blessing.

KELLY – Glad you have been sleeping better and hope it continues. Yes they are interesting goodies and I hope that they continue to provide the goodies for doing the passports. Several of the wineries offer quantity discounts when buying bottles of wine. Of course the winery that we have our wine membership at give us a 10% discount on almost anything we purchase because we are members. Oh I forgot when posting the last post, DH and I also have tickets to the Kellogg’s tour of gymnastic champions the second weekend in October. They are going to appear at the Century Link Center here in Omaha.

SHARON – Yes those are nice gifts although most of the people we talked about last year thought the gifts last year were better. We completed 24 if the 35 last year and received $50.00 each in Nebraska wine bucks. This year if we had not completed the passport but only got part done we would have received the cork screw and wine tote. What is the $69.00 for??? We didn’t have to pay for the passports but of course we had to pay for the wine tastings at the wineries (except for the one in Hartington – their tasting is free) but I guess if you figure a minimum of $5.00/tasting at 35 tastings I guess you could say our passports cost $175/person. That Burpsie Durpsie drink sounds interesting; I may have to save that to my recipe file on my computer so I have it if I need it in the future.

SUNNY – Hope everything is going well for you.

I woke up this morning knowing it was DH’s but decided to let him think I forgot (I’m the one who reminds him of his boy’s birthdays and other of his families birthdays) his birthday. While I was at work he called me asking about when his ticket needed to be paid and I told him I didn’t remember then he said it is my birthday today. This triggered his remembering the ticket as it needed to be paid no later than today or he needed to appear in court in the morning. Later he called again asking if I had checked on the date the ticket needed to be paid and I said I am still at work. He asked what time I got off, I told him and he said he was going to get home to check on it before I could. He called again telling me that it needed to be paid but he didn’t have enough money in the joint account so I ended up calling to transfer money from my account to the joint so he could pay the fine. Needless to say due to that we weren’t able to go out for supper for his birthday. After work I called him and asked if I needed to meet him at the courthouse to finish paying the fine so he could get to his eye appointment, he said yes. Before I could get there he called and said he was done so I headed home (didn’t get to the gym because of all this). I fixed supper and then we had some of the ice cream cake that we purchased on our way home from DS’s a couple weeks ago (yes we still had some left). I covered my legs and feet with my snuggy and ended up falling asleep on the couch and slept a couple hours. I hope that I am able to get to sleep again before it is time to wake up. Oh when I got home I found my stamp pad then took each cat and put one of their paws on the pad then on the card that I found that said “paws for cake”. I then put their names under their paw print. For Little Guy I printed his name really small, Bubbles I put bubbles floating away from his name, Storm I put a storm cloud with raindrops and for Snowball I put a ball with the indicator of it bouncing away. DH really liked the card.

Have a great weekend everyone.
Thiry

Sharon: Yes, I was totally relieved to have all that paper Fed Ex’d and out of my hair. Dad, well, he was a little maudlin, but we got thru it.

Yes, I think that last year I used the Kahlua version. A sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice is a great idea!

Uncle Tom’s Burpsie Durpsie????? Never heard of that, but here we go! Put that in my repertoire when I am stuffed!

Kelly: glad that you slept last night even w/o a smash!

OH dear. Challah bread would do it for me . .. or sourdough bread . . . or rye bread. **SIGH** Sensing a theme here for me!

He was sad today, but we worked thru it and he knows it’s for the best.

Kelly, highly recommend my "Uncle" Tony's Burpsie Durpsie for that feeling, or after a large meal, or just because!

Fill rocks glass with ice.
Pour 3 oz White Creme de Menthe over ice.
Add "a Splash" of Club Soda.
Give a stir or two. Sip and enjoy.

This will not only settle the stomach, but dispel that "stuffy feeling". We always serve these after a good meal. Surprisingly easy, and most effective.

Will post on the Fall A Buzz board.

Good start on the new thread!

I skipped the smash last night, forgot all about it but slept well anyway. Two nights in a row, whew. But it is on my radar for today, it's kinda hot again today, maybe I will wait til later (it was nice earlier this morning though). I like the idea of POM instead of cranberry. Okay I have to fess up, the past two days were so out of control with eating not so good food but also a lot of good food, last night I was so bloated and miserable it was all I could do to sit through that meeting. It's out of my system thank goodness. Oh and whoever said frozen Hersey dark chocolate bars is hard to eat, fibbed. And yes, I went back and had another serving of graham crackers all decked out. That is what set it off. That and left over challah bread.

One step closer Barb. Here's to all going well with the notary and everything else. How's your Dad doing now with all this? Hope it is only a little melancholy. I always got it with every move.

Interesting goodies for driving all over, I don't think they do anything like that around here. I know one winery offers discounts. Kix Brooks has a really nice winery about an hour from here that does music but doesn't offer much else.

See you lassies at 3, think it'll be iced tea today.

Kelly

Mornin' ladies! No news that's fit to print, and sometimes that's a good thing.

Barb, glad you got all that paperwork out of the way, and the notarization shouldn't take that long, and then off to PO and get it on its way! Cause for celebration!

What's the cream liqueur in your Pumpkin Martini recipe? Is it the Fultons Pumpkin liqueur? Do you know Kahlua puts out a pumpkin spice version this time of year? I bet that would be a great sub for the Pumpkin Liqueur. I would add a sprinkling of Pumpkin Pie Spice over the top when done, too.

Thiry, those are some pretty generous wine passport gifts. Our state pales by comparison. We used to get a wine tote for filling it up. Now I don't see any prize offering, and the price has gone up substantially - $69.00! Yikes!

Hope you, Kelly and Sunny, are doing well today. Check back with you all later! emoticon

Tuesday – Well, off to get the papers notarized and then wait for the closing on the 26th. That will be a HUGE relief. HUGE!

Otherwise, Jas got home early last night, so we had time to go over the papers and get them organized, so tomorrow will be easier getting the papers signed and notarized.

Storms last night, but we were all right.

Thiry: Yes, Mom has her sense of humor still. Thank goodness. That is one thing that the Alzheimer’s hasn’t taken from her. . . and us!

For sure, Thiry, best to exercise off the frustration. You did the right thing.

Hope you get sleep tonight!

Sharon: Found your entries and added my own! Pumpkin Spice Martini. Posted it in the thread.

Sharon, Sunny Kelly: Here's to a good day today!!

Hugs and prayers for our soldiers, families and our country.

See y'all @ 3 pm (if not before!) emoticon

BARB – Yes, it is good that you got the fees for the HOA “bible” rescinded. I think the HOA’s can be really outrageous in some of the things they do and some of their charges. It helped to get to the gym and work off the frustration, better than coming home and eating. Your mom sure comes out with some cute comments. Those moments are ones to be cherished for sure.

KELLY – Well we may not be traveling the state since the passports are complete but we still have the winery 8 miles from us that has music every Friday evening and Sunday afternoon that we can go to. They are also having their harvest festival this coming Saturday that we plan to go to. There is also a weekend that we will most likely go the Vala’s Pumpkin Patch with my son, his girl and the grand kids. I’m sure there will be a few weekends between now and the end of the year that we won’t be able to travel due to weather so we are glad to have the travels out of the way. There are actually more wineries as there were a few on the list last year that weren’t this year and I know of a couple that haven’t been on the list either year. We aren’t doing it but I have also heard that there is a Nebraska Passport which includes 80 stops throughout the state. I don’t have much information on this but I did hear that it was to be completed in 3 or 4 months. That is a lot of travels to get to 80 places in that short of time

SHARON – Yes it was a really nice day and even though we were traveling for almost 14 hours we had a great day. Each completed passport that is turned in is rewarded with a 6 bottle wine tote, a cork screw and $75.00 in Nebraska wine bucks to use to purchase wine at the participating wineries. Also, each passport that is returned whether it had 1, all 36 stamps or any amount in between is put into a drawing. The passport drawn wins a bottle of wine from every winery on the passport. We have out accounts at a credit union but we were also charged with the incoming wire fee when we had the money wired to us last year after selling the property. Yes, I am glad that the bomber and comrades were caught also.

SUNNY – I hope you are doing well.

After my unplanned nap yesterday I ended up being wide awake until almost 4 am so needless to say I didn’t get much sleep last night. Surprisingly I wasn’t tired at work and didn’t have trouble staying awake while working. After work I headed to the gym and to my surprise DH was already there when I arrived. He only spent time in the massage chair but he actually showed up before I was able to get there. Well it is getting late so I should try to get some sleep so I don’t fight sleep at work tomorrow.

Have a great week everyone.
Thiry

Sharon: I 2nd the vote! I'll tag the thread, too!

Yeah . . . lots to be said for staying hydrated! LOVE it!

Kelly: I am telling you, you NEVER know what Mom is going to come out with. There is no filter on her brain or mouth sometimes! LOL And add being well hydrated, well, that just adds to the fun.

Hi Everyone!

Barb, I loved your notes about your mom with the visit yesterday! I'm glad she had fun, and all went well.

Bocce is one of those MUST PLAY games whenever the family gets together. We play the day away usually, all the while drinking to keep ourselves hydrated, of course. emoticon The family is not from the south. We're yanks. Then after dinner, it's gather around the kitchen table and play cards well into the wee hours of the morning sometimes - still drinking to stay hydrated. It gets even crazier when it's just us girls!

Glad you ladies like the smash recipe. It is mighty TASTY! Kelly, I am agreeing we should revive our libations thread, with a new name, something Fallish, like "Fall A Buzz". That's my suggestion for a name. That way we can have one for each season, and it would be an "easy go to" when we wanted something different. Keep it separate, as a new sticky topic, underneath the Frozen Hot Chocolate Challenge thread. Then when we have all the seasons, appropriately named as we go along, just revive the appropriate season's sticky, and we can add for that season, and build on our existing recipe file.

There is one downside . . .
Of course, everyone else on this team would then know us for the "lushes" that we are! emoticon

I don't have to worry about any bank fees as we do all our banking through a credit union. But before we did that, when we were first married, you are right - those fees are just another way for them to make money.

Thiry, what a nice way to spend your Saturday. So what do you get for a filled "wino card"?

Well, week end sure went all too quickly, as usual!

Glad to see they caught the NY bomber and several comrades.

Catch y'all later!

Thiry: Thanks! Yes, I figured that they'd get us "coming and going" re: the wiring the money. And yes, there is a $5 fee @ the bank for receiving the wire. Sheesh! They have ya coming and going! At least I got the $349 for the danged HOA "bible" rescinded. They must honestly thing people are dumb. Well, there are those, but I don't happen to fall into that category, unfortunately for them!

Thiry, YES . . .I think we all need a "don't ask, just pour" glass. YES YES YES!

Glad you were able to work off some of the frustration @ the gym. It helps.

Sharon, Sunny: Hope it's a good Monday and all is well.

Hugs and prayers for our soldiers, families and our country.

See y'all @ 3 pm . . . and so far, it is a "don't ask, just pour" morning, so . . . we'll see what shape the day is in @ 3 before deciding on sumthin-sumthin.

Kelly: Definitley every opportunity is taken to nickel and dime, but these peepers are open for watching out for that! Good for me, not for them!

Had a wonderful time and yes, Mom was S-P-O-I-L-E-D! We shared the chocolate martoonis sitting on the porch and Mom said, "Are you girls old enough to be drinking this???" BWAHAHAHA, we just about spewed the libations. Then my cuz Deb (ever the smart alec, said, "Are YOU old enough to be drinking a chocolate martini?" Mom looked her square in the eyes and said, "I'm older than Methusala." BWAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA!

That video cracked me up and brought back a memory of our neighbors in Augusta that showed it a couple of years on Halloween. They opened up the garage door, hung a sheet on the wall and there you go.

Busy little lady there and interested in Boccie - wow. It doesn't seem to be that popular in the south, unless maybe you get a bunch of NYers I guess. We have a lot of them but no one mentions boccie. Kids don't understand sharing time with their parents I guess. Our grands didn't see John that often so they zeroed in on him from the time they jumped out of the car til they left. Or we took them out. Looking back, glad it worked out that way.

I like your version of the smash Sharon. That truly is a nite cap. I'm thinking we should revive our libation thread and add them there too so it's easier to find, just in case we (or me) only thought I had copy pasted it elsewhere.

Actually those transfer fees are a lot lower than they used to be, but of course now they nickle and dime us on everything else so guess it all levels out. Ten bucks for a cashiers check, more if it's a big one. One of the tellers waives it, the rest won't. Then there was the time they tried going back to the monthly fees. I know I got spoiled when no fee checking started, remember when we paid through the nose way back when? Oh you'll get a kick out of this - I had the manager make a note on my acct, to not suggest I use the atm instead of walking in to cash a check. Don't like them, and when my hand was out of commission it was not a wise move. Drive through takes too long.

Thinking your cousins spoiled your Mom yesterday Barb. Too short of a visit?

How are your knees doing Sunny now that the shots have had a chance to settle in?

So Thiry, what adventures will you two do now that you've filled up your vino passports? Neat idea to see the countryside. Who knew there were so many wineries there!

Well, week end, quiet as it was went too quickly, busy day today with meetings but thinking I will have a smash after the last meeting, that happens to be at the Highway Patrol so I'll wait.

Hugs and Prayers. Lord knows we need them after this week end. See ya for tea at 3!

Kelly

BARB – Just a little heads up, when you have the money wired you will most likely also get charged from you bank for receiving the wire. Last year when we sold the property in Norfolk not only did we pay $15.00 for them to wire the money but also a $5.00 wire charge at our bank for receiving the wire. I hope you and your cousins had a great time together I think the last time I saw my cousins was at my dad’s funeral in 2009.

KELLY – Good looking grandson there. I hope that you are getting more sleep. I remember nights like that when I got home from the hospital 2 years ago. I couldn’t sleep more than 1.5-2 hours at a time, it was so frustrating. Ob those graham crackers sound good.

SHARON – Oh my that was quite a lot to go through to get the inspection sticker but at least it is done.

SUNNY – Sorry about the car problems but so glad that the needed repairs are under warranty that helps the pocketbook a lot there.

I’m sitting in my spare bedroom watching Sully that just came out Friday in the theaters while working on this post.

It’s been a really busy week again. After the oil change Monday, not feeling well on Tuesday the rest of the week kept me really busy. Wednesday after work I got my hours in at the gym, home for a shower, choir practice then out for endless shrimp at Red Lobster. Thursday I was so frustrated when I left work due to the payroll clerk making a point of sticking her nose into all aspects of my job now. After 2 years of collecting the parent payments, going through them to verify them with the posts in the system, totaling the money and putting it in the sealed envelope for the armored currier to pick up I now have to stop and give her the money so she can go through the envelopes, make a listing of the names and amounts then give it to me to do my part. She has them director of finance thinking that all money needs to go through 2 hands to “make sure that I don’t get accused of stealing”. This is going to make me have to hustle to get my part done in time for the money to be picked up. When the money gets picked up it goes to OPS (Omaha Public Schools) for them to go through it and prepare it to go to the bank. So this money gets accepted by the people at the sites and put into the system and in an envelope and sealed, then I pick it up and go though and verify then off to OPS for them to verify and she thinks she needs to go through the envelopes also. I was so frustrated that I put in a hard 2 hours at the gym then home to use my new glass at the “don’t ask, just pour” level. So, it sounds like all of you need a glass like my newest wine glass. It seems we could have all needed it this week. I took Friday off as DH had an appointment with the nutritionist and doctor so figured it wasn’t work trying to go into the office as my day would have been almost half over. My plan was to do some cleaning in the spare bedroom but that didn’t happen. After DH left for work I got a few things together then went to the store to get a few groceries and check on my contacts. When I left there I went to the bread store to get some bread and hoagie buns for our travels on Saturday then to Sam’s to get some meat. Bu the time I did all that and got the groceries put away (just putting the meat in the refrigerator to package and put in the freezer later) I headed to the gym for my workout. After getting home, having supper I got a few things ready for our travels on Saturday then fell asleep. Saturday we got up and left on out travels at 8 am. We headed to Hartington to the winery there then traveled 4 hours west to the next and last winery on our passports. After that we headed home. We got home at 11 pm so it was a long day. After getting home DH decided he wanted to watch the Nebraska game that we had recorded while we were traveling. I started falling asleep during the second half of the game. This morning I headed to church alone as DH said he was having trouble with his back and could hardly walk. After church I filled my tank then off to the car wash as the front of my car was covered with grasshoppers and butterflies. I did the $9.00 bug off car wash then headed to the gym to get a workout in. I noticed that the car still had a lot of the bugs so after realizing that I didn’t have my tennis shoes I went back to the car wash and used the hand sprayer taking another $6.00 to get all the bugs off the front of my car. I never made it back to the gym as I fell asleep and when I woke up I didn’t have time to get there today.

Have a great week everyone.
Thiry

I'm Baack!

Today was nice and a whole lot of fun. She just wanted to stay here. I feel bad because she just wants me to read and play with her, and I don't get to talk with son, but he & his dad get father son time. emoticon She wanted to learn how to play Bocce. We had talked about it last Sunday at her party. She did great! She's one strong little girl. They were here for about 3.5 hours. We read books, played match games, did puzzles, and played imaginary games with some of toys.

Agree with Barb on all comments about the video and movie.

Here's my recipe for my cherry smash:

2 oz bourbon
.50 oz Cointreau or Triple Sec
1.5 oz tart Cherry Juice
4 dashes Peychauds Bitters
.50 - 1 oz simple syrup

Put all in glass with ice, and stir to combine. Enjoy!

Nite all!

Oh that song used to be required listening in my youth on Halloween. LOL Ad required viewing was Young Frankenstein. LOVE that movie. Too bad so many are gone that appeared in that movie . . . . Madeline Kahn, Peter Boyle, Gene Wilder, Marty Feldman. Such talent!

Chocolate graham crackers, chocolate chips, crushed pretzels . . . OMG. Sounds so good!

Ok, tart cherry juice all ‘round!

That reminds me, the first time you mentioned you Cherry Smash I read it as Monster Mash and now it still runs through my head so I'm passing it on to youse guys

They suggested drinking tart cherry after my colon surgery, forgot all about that benefit (why, who knows guess they told me it helps sleep too or whatever so I tried it and liked it) a little bourbon doesn't hurt either.

Enjoy your visit, spoiling time!

Oh, bought a box of chocolate graham crackers, recipe on the back...schmear melted chocolate chips on a cracker, before it sets up sprinkle crushed pretzels on it. Too easy, glad I only made 2.

The sun is out, so think I'll go grab some VitaD for awhile.

Oh No It's Sunday already!

Add me to the list who want you to enjoy your Cuz's visit, Barb. Glad your your Mom enjoys company that is a plus in spite of not remembering who they are. I am sure they make her smile and engage her with many memories.

So sad to read about the NYC explosion! Definitely fuels Trump's campaign now!

A serving of dark cherries is 15. You can buy them frozen. Red Jacket makes the 100% Tart Cherry Stomp I use in my Bourbon Cherry Smash. I drink one at night, and yes, between the bourbon and the cherry juice I sleep well!

Got to run! DS and DGD are coming to visit! emoticon I'll be back later tonight with all the latest dirt.

Enjoy your Sunday!

**SIGH** Just too sad the craziness here and in the rest of the world. Prayers. Needed!

Yes, eating cherries or drinking 4 -6 oz. of tart cherry juice is good for sleep. Had forgotten about that. Heard it on Dr. Oz a long time ago!

Enjoy your Cuz's, it's great your Mom enjoys company that is a plus in spite of not remembering who they are. I am sure they will fill her with hilarious moments. Kind of like making new friends.

Then there was a pipe bomb explosion that went off forcing the cancellation of a 5K in Jersey, a Marine themed one at that, that wasn't really reported (I heard about it about 10p last night) and of course initially the NY incident was not a big deal either with incorrect info being given out.

I was sound asleep before 11, actually mad because I dozed off watching a program where they rehabbed an animal rescue and missed the best part of it, snoozed longer than a 15 minute power nap, to my surprise after waking up about 3, I went back to sleep and slept until 5! So hopefully this weeks sleeplessness has left the building for awhile. Oh did I mention I read that eating a handful of cherries before bed helps with sleep. They didn't say whose hand, can you pretend someone with a big hand?

Well, enjoy your Sunday. It shouldn't be as wet today as yesterday but will see ya at 3!

Definitely lots of hugs and prayers. This morning I saw a video about the time that Rick Monday of the Cubbies stopped those fools from burning the Flag in the outfield - that was back in 1976!

Sunday – Ready for company. Hurray. Looking forward to seeing the cuz's! NICE BREAK in the routine. Hope Mom adjusts. It always bothers her when she doesn't remember someone, but she does enjoy company.

So looks like I'll be sharing 3pm something-something w/the cuz's, too! WAHOO!

Hugs and prayers for our soldiers, families and our country. **SIGH** Just read about the explosions in NY. This is just pathetic.

Funny I was going to get my hair cut today too, the way she cut it last time is not for growing out. Looks like I forgot to comb my hair. I'm going to go super short this time. I think.

I hope they give you a run down on the party soon Sharon.

We have a true NY pizza place up the road. Well it was until he sold it then retired. This new guy is a NYer but something is different. Food is still good, think he's cutting corners. Nothing like a great steak and chz sammie. The bar up the road makes a really good one, maybe I'll drop in tomorrow.

Good night lassies, see ya tomorrow!

Hey Gals! Glad you enjoyed the blog! Barb, thanks for the goodie and your note about it. I LOVED the smart car one also. I have had that one for a couple of years. Kelly, you are so baaaad - I hope they don't have their morning coffee in hand when the go out to rip the note off the car.

Went to get our ears lowered again today, and I feel so much better. Short again; I was beginning to feel "top heavy", and not in the boob department.

Went to a REAL NY pizza place for lunch. We hadn't been there in a dog's age. The owner is true old school Italian, and their pizzas are true NY style. But their subs are also that way, and their steak and cheese subs are legendary. That's what I had, and it was every bit as good and mouth-watering as I remember it. It was so good, I ate the WHOLE thing! Don't have to worry about dinner now! DH had the grilled Italian Sausage, and the sausage was so lean and tasty! They must do it themselves.

So did you guys try the Love Potion? Bought some Fulton's Autumn Harvest Liquer at the ABC store today. I love to make Pumpkin Spice Martinis with it. It sells out really fast so bought 2 bottles while the gettin' was good! I'll use one and save one for Thanksgiving.

Kelly, I forgot to add if you do the ZZZ Sleep take it about an hour before bed. By that time, it's started to get into your system.

Sorry you had so much rain. It's been really nice here the last few days. Forecast calls for a warming up again by next weekend, but I hope it changes.

DGD is having her b'day party get together with her friends today. Haven't heard boo so don't know how it went, etc.

Barb looks like you were having fall like weather up your way. I am SOOOO ready after this summer's heat. Hope Mom and Dad are doing well.

Enjoy your evening ladies!

Kelly: BWAHAHAHA! Yes, must invoke the NO LIQUIDS for 1 hr. prior to reading Sharon’s blog. And no liquid in the mouth when reading, either!

Oh no on the monsoon! Oops! Glad you didn’t get too wet!

Will definitely enjoy seeing my cuz’s.

OMG! So, you’re literally taking your life in your hands w/new tires. **Sigh**

Hugs and prayers for our soldiers, families and our country. See y’all @ 3 pm!

Sharon!!! I must learn to go pee before I read your Friday lunacies! And not to be sipping anything. I've seen the Pabst College one before, then the other day walking past the beer cooler and laughing at the Pabst display and couldn't figure out why…you just explained it, a memory gone wild again. I'm printing off the smart car one and leaving it on our neighbors smart car, being careful the paper is not bigger than the car.

Monsoon this morning, of course left my jacket and/or umbrella in the car when I went to breakfast, few clouds, out of sight out of mind. Luckily didn't get too wet going back to the car. No need to run the sprinklers the next few days for sure.

Don't live any where near any of my cousins and see them rarely. Saw them at a reunion 18 mos ago, first time since 91, but we are doing it again in March. Enjoy the visit, maybe a little distraction is what is needed. Everything else will get done in time.

We'd be lying if we judged your libation(s). Agreed, will have to try one myself. I've always been sleepless, not necessarily insomnia. If I sleep soundly for 3-4 hours, I'm done. Toast otherwise. Ran out of gas about 4 yesterday, tried twice to get up the desire to go the market and socialize; right down to putting on my shoes but just did not want to go. Then mad at myself and got my second wind and was asleep by 11. Woke up at 3, next thing it was 6 something. I'll keep that in mind Sharon, in fact will mention it to my sis in law, she is going through insomnia right now.

Listening to the radio this morning they were talking about tires. Some tires can not be rotated for some odd reason others can not be (Porsche) because the back ones are bigger than the front and others if patched will void the warranty. Then they talked about new tires and something being out of whack after balancing or whatever, come to find out their rims were aftermarket and were damaged. They said some of those big wheels and neat looking ones even the really expensive are not strong enough for road hazards. Interesting. I am betting that is why our daughter had so many problems with her tires, yep she had them.

That is great news that your car is still under warranty Sunny. And that it was a quick fix. How's your knee feeling now that you have a few days with it?

I worry those kids are too muscle bound and won't have the flexibility they need to get around. Our son put a picture from 7 years ago of him and all his swim medals from a statewide meet, captioned it tadpole. Here he is now a tadpole learning to be a froggie, who knew. Yes, back in the 40's seals were called frogs and brown water somethings.

Will see you all at 3, likely inside today. Hugs and Prayers and much Love.

Quick Post:

First thing is that drink is already gone! Might have to make another! It was reaaallllllly good! Don't judge - the glass was loaded with ice, and the proportions are good. If you want to taste more booze, cut the juices in half. So glad it’s Friday, but it’s going to be busy.

Barb, hope you have fun with your cousins. I miss mine. Haven't seen them in 8 years.

Kelly, so very sorry on your sleep issues. I buy Top Care ZZZ Sleep. It's the equivalent of ZZZ Nyquil, at half the cost. DH uses it as he has sleep issues too. Helps him to sleep "sounder" and longer. He usually wakes up about halfway through a normal sleep cycle - 8 hours. Works good and is non habit forming and doesn't interfere with meds.

What hunks!!!! Tell him he has 3 pseudo grandmas now! Totally agree with Barb! These guys belong on a calendar! Handsome, strapping, viral young men!

Sunny: Take your time reading lots of news, and gald to ready your car repairs needed are under warranty. You're lucky! Just put alomost $1K OF tires on one of our cars. emoticon

Wearing the RED today too.

Off to do my blog. Wish me luck!

Friday – just about thru the paperwork. PHEW

Mom’s carer is here this morning, so getting things organized for that, then out the door to do a few chores.

So glad it’s Friday, but it’s going to be busy.

I have a cousin coming in from MA. She and another cousin are going to be here Sunday for a little cousin’s get-together. Timing stinks, but hey. . . that’s life, right!

So, a busy little beaver I’ll be.

Sharon: Thank you for the lesson!! Definitely needed more than 1 swallow yesterday.

OOOOOhhhhhhhh that libation looks like it is going to be made soon!

Kelly: Yeah, the Cubbies lost the game but won the divisionals. Go Cubbies, GO.

OH no on the sleep! Hope it straightens out.

Kelly: All I can say is . . . OMG! These guys belong on a calendar! Handsome young men.

Sunny: No worries. Just know nothing is under control! That’s normal.

Glad that the repairs needed are under warranty. PHEW for that.

Well, hugs and prayers for our soldiers, families and our country. Wearing the RED.

LOVE YOU GUYS, too!

See y’all for a libation @ 3 pm. IS IT 3 YET?????? AACCKK!

Top picture, Grant is in green, almost his senior year, next to him is his cousin.
Next picture, Grant is on the right in the stars and stripes trunks - that is what pre SEAL training does to you. The three of them had to give up their membership to the Skinny Kids of America Club.

Don't worry about catching up Sunny, I got lost once and even a map couldn't help me.

I know one thing for sure this morning, I need to come by daily (maybe even a couple of times). I get so lost if I don't. I am off here to read the posts and try to catch up (if there is such a thing).

We have been having some problems with the car. Ugh.... but know you all relate. We went to Columbia Tuesday and I got my shot. On the way to Church Wednesday evening, the car would not go into cruise and the check engine light came on. double ugh... Took it in first thing yesterday and sure enough it is a problem that needs to be fixed right away. Lucky for us, it is under warranty. AWESOME news! DH just left with the car to be fixed. Our eye appointments will need to be rescheduled. all in all, I am thankful for the fact that it is covered under the warranty.

I am off to read the posts.

Love you all, Sunny

Friday, already??? RED will be on me today.

Well Barb, let's hope that lawyer learned to cross his t's before the closing.

I know Sharon, the newer generation of QB's just aren't the same, actually so are most of the players. And it looks like Chicago is in...hope they make it all the way and actually finally win it all! I'm a Mets fan but geez, the Cubbies deserve a break already.

That is wonderful your son had such a bond with his grandfather.

Sunny and Thiry, staying out of trouble?

This sleepless nonsense has got to stop, yesterday I was awake at 3a, this morning at 2a and didn't take a nap even a power nap. Happening at least a couple of times a week lately again. (I've never been a long sleeper)

Nothing exciting around here, still in the 90's, possible wet stuff later with more tomorrow.

Hugs and Prayers for our brave warriors and our law enforcers.
