Dang, twice I meant to tell you I laughed myself silly for quite awhile over your blog Sharon!

Sunny that song riding along in my automobile came to mind, along with you having a big smile on your face. Seemed your mood lifted when you decided to go.

My heart goes out to your Sister, one thing to be ill but to be a care giver to another ill person, I admire she does so well. I figured she wasn't a candidate, sad.

Warmed up nicely yesterday, not as cold last night followed by sunshine today.

Everyone stay warm will miss our klatch but will have some wine when I go next door for some Super Bowl.

Hugs and Prayers all around.

Sharon: That's the problem. Nobody else is a match and she can't go on the transplant list because she has lymphoma. It's a hellacious situation.

Hey All! Well I'm finally here. Got back yesterday around 4 and immediately started working on blog, then fixed dinner, and I was pooped! Relaxed with coffee this morning, and that was nice. It was cold here this morning too, Kelly, but not as cold as your 24 degrees. High today in mid-upper 40s, and into high 20s tonight, so I guess we're getting your weather tomorrow.

Sunny, good to hear from you and so happy you are going to go with Rich. That will do you a world of good!

I'm so sorry about your sis too, Barb. Is she on the list for a donor? Anyone else in your family a match?

Going to begin work on my quarterly newsletter so I'll be busy the next couple of weeks!
Have a satisfying Saturday, and I'll check back later. emoticon

Wow - she certainly has a "plateful" so to speak. Praying that someone will come forth with a kidney for her. What does it take to be compatible?

Just wondering....

Sunny: YES INDEEDY I DID NOTICE! GOOD FOR YOU. It is good to get out. Cabin fever is RAMPANT! Have a good trip.

Yes, the biggest obstacle is that sis has lymphoma. Its been stable, but really knocks her out of bounds for the normal transplant list. Thought I could be a match. **SIGH** because I think the only way it is going to happen is if it is private. **SIGH SIGH SIGH**

Sun is shining brightly here this morning and I sure wish I could get out and do something. Rich has to go to Hannibal to pick up a Chair at my Sister's house. It was my Father's Chair and she doesn't want to move it with her when she moves to Quincy (coming up quickly). I may ride along with him just to get out. It would be nice.

I would say 24 degrees is pretty frosty, Kelly. It is 31 degrees here and we are to have a high of almost 50 so definitely want to go for a ride with Rich is I can.

So sorry about your Sis, Barb. My prayer is that she is matched with a Donner soon. That would be wonderful. So sorry about her problems. Bless her heart - as if having dialysis was not enough. I just don't get some men. We get married to be each others "help mates" then when times get tough, some forget all about that. I will keep her in my prayers.

Take care team and do have a Super Fantastic Saturday. I can't wait to get out of here to go for that ride with Rich. It sure beats going to the doctor. hehehe

Love you all, Sunny

Saturday well today is Moms birthday and she really doesnt realize it. But were having a little party for her. My brother cannot come as he has the flu, so well just wing it.

Kelly: Wow! Downnright frosty for you!

Talked with both brother AND little sis yesterday and we hashed out a few things. Plans never go as expected. I had expected to have the discussion w/brother HERE, but being as he has the flu . . . . really BAD idea! Fortunately hes on the recuperating side of it but it knocked the stuffing out of him. He said he slept from Friday 4 pm till Sunday noon. OMG!

Little sis . . . just has her hands full with her husband. **SIGH** Unfortunately getting really on the precipice of needing dialysis. I just ache for her. **SIGH** Wish I could donate a kidney to her (heck, Id do that in a heartbeat). But were not a match. What can I say. Life just is not fair sometimes.

Otherwise, preparing for Mondays appointment for Dad with the GI Dr. PRAYING that he ultimately doesnt need the esophagoscopy. My utmost concern is cancer, but not thinking thats it. He just doesnt have the symptoms that would go along. But have to take things a step-at-a-time.

Sharon: OMG! Wiping the tears of laughter away still after reading your blog!

Sunny: Hope you are feeling better each day!

HUGS ladies and see yall @ 3 pm.

Sunny today, right now it is a frosty 24! The Nashville weather station had a hard time launching their weather balloons this morning, can't wait to see how high they got before popping.

Hope all went well with everyone yesterday and you all have a great week end. I'll be so glad when the super bowl is done, tired of the hype. Just hope that Peyton has a better game than last time.

I know Barb, not dealing with our mortality leaves a mess. And an expensive mess at that.

Hugs and Prayers, will see youse guys at 3!

Friday Early day. Got a walk in before Moms carer came today so I could do a few things while shes here.

Yesterday was full of sunshine. Needed that to be sure!

Kelly: Its difficult dealing with wills and all that goes along with dealing with our mortality. *SIGH*

Wearing the RED!

Sharon: Hope those things go well w/your BFF and her Mom.

Thanks for the party!

Sharon it's funny because as I decided I had no choice but get a pedi you came to mind then again as she started working on me. So a full spa pedi is in the budget, they offer a trim and buff at a reasonable price so I think I'll be a convert to that too!

I agree about arrangements and Barb my heart goes out to you, guess its true, some things are best when younger and healthier. Even before he got sick, I had a hard time getting hubs to have a new will done since it wasn't valid here, out of the blue about 6 months into being sick he was ready to do it. I didn't give him time to change his mind. Bless this attorney, as he had his work up meeting, sitting in our car because their building doesn't have an access ramp he pont blank asked him about those arrangements. He glared at me, accused me of putting him up to it, and said just cremate me and bury me at sea. I am grateful the kids and brothers in law made all the arrangements for his Memorial Mass in NY.

Today is Go Red for Women's Heart Health Day, no I forgot about it too. Too bad something like this isn't pushed more. So we have two reasons for RED today.

May today have no challenges, heck those challenges can just take a powder for a good long time.

Safe driving Sharon, hope her Mom is in good spirits.

Hugs and Prayers all around.

Yes, it is a sad discussion to have. My little sis and I have already had that discussion but brother unit has NOT been on board to participate. But he will now!

As a matter of fact, we've also had the discussion for her too, as she has lymphoma and end stage renal disease. **SIGH** THAT was tough, but she and I have always been on the same wave length, so it wasn't a struggle to have the discussion.

You know, sometimes life is so challenging. **SIGH**

High Five Sharon!!! Good news...

Happy Dancin' going on, not only are the pins out, no new cast; in a removable splint for the next month. Start real PT next week.

Hugs Sunny, that shot sure didn't last long did it? Have you tried those cooper inserts maybe Sharon is onto something with acupuncture. Did I ask already about wearing a mask out? I understand your cabin fever, I wasn't stuck indoors nearly long as you and nearly lost me mind. You can only argue with yourself so often. Best to get it kicked completely to the curb all at once.

So glad that your Mom's new angel hit no glitches. Here's to you taking some time for yourself.

It's a sad place to go but it is better to have it all in place. Sigh and Hugs.

The Chai tea is ready, I'll have sumthin stronger later. Cheers

Sunny, add my prayers that the May visit gives you the all clear for surgery, too. Glad that the neoprene sleeve, ice and heat are giving some measure of relief. I know I held off on my THR for as long as I possibly could, and never used steroid injections. Maybe you could give acupuncture a try. I did help me as I previously explained.

I hope you are feeling better and stronger, and even though it's been hard, staying home I'm sure has helped tremendously.

Sending MORE healing vibes your way. Its not easy.

Barb hope you're having a slower kind of day, too.

Kelly hope the Ortho visit brought you some good news, and more freedom.

THIS NEWS BULLETIN JUST IN. . .
On the Site/Technical Message Board:

Thanks for the feedback. We have made a change, so that as of today we'll no longer show the Kiip offers on the bonus wheel.

Hope that helps,

Coach Jen

My thought - Let's hope they don't show up somewhere else now!

Hugs to all!

Sharon: Your BFF is wise to plan w/her brother for the final arrangements. Talking w/my brother about the same thing, and its a difficult discussion, but brings so much peace when the time comes. **SIGH**

Have fun with the tooties and the paws!

Sunny: Oh boy. Prayers that the May visit gives you the all clear for surgery. Glad that the neoprene sleeve, ice and heat are giving some measure of relief. I know with the steroid shots initially they lasted for 9 mths., then 6 mths., then 3 mths, and thats the point I knew I had to get the knee cone. **SIGH** Its so hard to be patient! HUGS

Sending MORE healing vibes your way. Its not easy.

Yes, Kelly, good luck with the ortho appointment today.

I would love to get my toes and nails done. Maybe I can do that after I am off of house arrest.Ugh...

Saw the surgeon on Tuesday and he decided he wants me even stronger before having the surgery and I so understand that. I will see the lung doc in May and if all is OK, he will release me for the surgery.

I am still having a problem with the knee. I got the steroid shot and it helped for about 4 days. I have been doing ice and heat and did get a neoprene sleeve for it and that adds some stability to it when I am walking.

Enjoy your Thursday. Sun is shining here and our temps should be around 40 - so much better than yesterday when we had a strong north wind all day. We even got a few snow flurries.

Take care team and know I am trying my best to get to feeling better. It is just going to take time.

Hugs to all, Sunny

Morning - quick stop - off to get nails and toes done. I love not having to do my toes. I have ingrown toenails - got that one from mom, and it's so much easier to not have to strain and bend and contort to do them! Glad you have happy tootsies today, Kelly!

Tomorrow is early day to go up to help BF and her mom. She and brother are going to make funeral arrangements so all will be in place when time comes. . .

Barb, hope all went well yesterday with Mom. Hope you get some relaxation in today for you!

Good luck with your Ortho visit this morning. I feel a good report coming on!

Catch ya later!

Thursday well, the caregiving went much smoother today w/Amy. Happy camper.

So tired, am hoping to get a nap in this afternoon. Did take a walk outside early this morning and that helped. Not bad for the beginning of February.

Sharon: I continue to share your concern! It is honestly shameful.

Kelly: Yesterday Mom did well with Amy the angel caregiver. She comes again on Friday. THEN were back to Monday and well see how it goes with Christine. Prepared to have at it if it does not work out.

OHhhh, nothing like happy tootsies. IF the toosies are happy, then Mama is happy! LOL

Sunny: Hope you are feeling better each day.

HUGS and prayers for our soldiers, families and our country.

Sadly Sharon the more money a site makes, the more it wants...human nature. I have told them many times that their rolling ads and the putting ads on blogs is beyond reason and that distraction is taking away from my experience and not doing as much on Sparks. Their canned answer was we need to to keep it free, baloney, I don't see much of an improvement except you are giving away more ways to get points, which the teams appreciate.

Thank you again for all the leg work. You put the warning out; I'd be surprised if there aren't a lot of folks who have read your thread and are taking note, likely leaving the wheel too.

Barb, how was Mom yesterday, take it went well.

Hope you are feeling better (exclude frustrated) Sharon.

I had my very first pedi yesterday, can I say happy tootsies?

See Ortho this morning, fingers crossed for a great xray and healing.

CUL8R!

Heres the latest, but the response from fellow sparkers is literally just a drop in the bucket - that's why it's not being taken seriously.

From SWOOZIEBNM:
"Adreports is fully award of the Bonus Spin Ads and Spark People site supports it. I sent an email because I wasn't seeing the ad just the box proclaiming I had won a reward and to give my email add. Here is the response I got:
"Thanks for reaching out. That is not malware, that is a special offer that is coming up with the bonus wheel spin. There is however an issue where sometimes there isnt an offer presented, like you were seeing. The X in the top right will close it. We are working with the support team to resolve that issue. Michael Honkomp"
So just to let SP know, I will not be opening any of those ads and if it continues much longer, I will quit SP. I have ad blockers installed for a reason because ads can sometimes bring malware. I do not want 'in my face ads' blocking or stopping my visit to a site. I don't answer telemarketing phone calls and I don't have to read telemarketing on web sites."

This was my reply as I am trying to keep this topic at the top of the list:

I agree with what SWOOZIEBNM has said. These ads are aimed to promote the installation of additional questionable content so SparkPeople can generate pay-per-click revenue. It's that plain and simple.

But in the meantime they, and the "kiip partners" are garnishing a lot of information and revenue on us from this website. Google kiip and see what comes up.

Next time you spin for bonus points, before you close that pop-up window, "click the little icon directly next to and to the left of the X that would close the pop-up, and see what comes up. Read it. Then do some reading on Google and make up your own mind. Even us having to click the X to close and get rid of that pop-up, SparkPeople gets something out of it. Don't be fooled.

The staff is sending all of us who respond on our merry way by requesting screenshots, and sending us their reply. They figure because it's hard, and many may not know how to do it, we will just shut up and forget about it. Well, I did take the time to figure out how to do it, took the screenshot, and followed Coach Denise's instructions to send it to @adreports. It took some time.
Here was my reply from SparkPeople after following their directions and sending the screenshot:

"Thanks for your feedback on that special offers ad unit on our bonus spin page. I have passed along the information to our sales team.
Michael Honkomp
Ad Operations & Yield Director
SparkPeople.com"

That's what started my deeper investigation into this whole thing. They are sugar coating all of this in their responses and hoping it will quietly go away.

There are two other topics on this community message technical/site help board regrading this same topic. They titled "IMPORTANT: READ AND PASS ON RE: BONUS WHEEL POPUPS", and "Huge Pop Up Ad After Spinning for Bonus Points".

If you are at all concerned, speak up and let your concerns be known here.

The word needs to get out, and if I don't see some increase in concern over this mess by Friday, I'm done sounding the trumpet. I am no longer spinning the Spark Wheel for Bonus points, and that's just not right!

Gosh I just love it when the coaches act this way. Really, even to us who can't find their way out of a paper bag can tell they are in the wrong. They are selling their souls and it is going to bite them.

Now I read these popups want your email? Hasn't happened to me. I was on a link elsewhere and a popup had "close and accept" no other way of getting rid of it! I contacted the site to ask if they were aware of that popup haven't heard back.. Where's it going to end?

Spread the word here. That's the only way. You can tell by the replies to me that they want me and everyone else to believe it is innocuous. I remember a similar thing on this website regarding FB about a year or so ago. Enough people complained, and they took it off. Squeaky wheel . . .

Happy Wednesday! Chirp, chirp, chirp! Being late is one thing, and if it was traffic related or otherwise, a simple phone call to advise you would have been so simple to do, and she would not have been in hot water. Not excusing her tardiness, but sometimes life happens. Obviously she didn't care that much.
Hope things went well again today for the one you and your mom like.

Boy you sure have had your share of battles to fight lately! I'm joining the fight, too, on this infuriating pop-up ad after spinning the bonus wheel. Here is the latest from Coach Denise on the matter:

"I have checked on this particular issue and we are aware that adware on computers can cause popups on any page. So if you had adware, it could create popups on SparkPeople.com, Facebook.com, msn.com, and any other site. In this case, SparkPeople is creating the popup in partnership with Kiip, to provide rewards for members after earning your bonus spin. Since the popup is coming from SparkPeople and not software on your computer, I would not consider it adware.

Coach Denise"

Notice, in particular, the sentence that reads, "In this case, SparkPeople is creating the popup in partnership with Kiip, to provide rewards for members after earning your bonus spin."
In addition, she wants to make you think that this adware could have been placed on your computer by "one of those other sites". What a crock! It is website specific. This IS adware from SP since it is on their website, and generating revenue for Spark People, and that's why we're being ignored.

In plain and simple language, these ads are aimed to promote the installation of additional questionable content so SparkPeople can generate pay-per-click revenue. The common symptoms may include:

Advertising banners are injected with the web pages that you are visiting.
Random web page text is turned into hyperlinks.
Other unwanted adware programs might get installed without the users knowledge.

So have you noticed any of these things when you are on the website? I know I have - particularly computer slow down.

I can't fight this battle alone, and if it continues this way with only me protesting about it, I may get blacklisted. The key here is NUMBERS of dissenters, and people who post a comment about it voicing their objection, and ask them to stop.

How do you all feel about this? I'm actually surprised more people aren't voicing a protest about this.

Kelly, and Sunny, hope you all are doing well.

Catch y'all later.

Sharon: You could hear the cricket chirping all the way there!?! Well, Monday is the litmus test. If it's a no go, then I'm DONE -- actually SHE'S done. They will have to find someone to replace her. I never in all my days doing home health nursing was EVER late for an appointment. EVER.

Well, I imagine those tellers @ the bank are still nursing their singe wounds, but so be it! GRRRRrrr.

Snowing, so gotta get ready to do battle. DANG

You nailed it Barb, I can see Flaming.

I think the fact she didn't do all that she was supposed to added to not extending her time without explanation or offer to fix it next time doesn't give her points. No one should get three chances. How did the agency handle it, wait let me guess - crickets. (Hope not)

My crash was in early December so it wasn't weather related. The first one was during hubs illness and I was just plain worn out. Thanks for the reminder info.

Good morning. Well, supposedly winter is over, and spring is on it's way. HA! Mother Nature always has a mind of her own about these things! Check out the groundhog day cartoon on my page. I thought it was pretty funny,

Thanks for the thoughts on Vit D. I will up mine and see if that helps.

I agree with Kelly on the bank teller. Bonds went out of favor a long time ago. I have some from my parents. You are right most tellers haven't a clue what they are, and with the much diminished curriculum in the schools, they don't know how to do anything a computer or the government doesn't tell them to do. No deductive reasoning, critical thinking, or common sense. An hour though. I would have been just like you, or demanded to speak with the bank manager about it, and let her sort it out.

Not much else going on. Taking it easy as I am on tap again Friday to go and mom-sit.

Will catch y'all later.

Kelly: Same boat as you! I had NOOOOOooooo idea how important Vit. D is for a properly functioning pancreas (to control blood sugars) and properly performing thyroid. Being that my thyroid is wonked, I generally end up on those mega-doses of Vit. D too. It really does. And yes, otherwise I always though that 2000 IU of Vit. D would handle it. WRONG. It's during the winter w/the lack of sunlight that causes me the biggest problems.

I didn't just have steam coming out of my ears. They were FLAMING!!!! UGH

As for that aide, I will give her another try, but I DID report the tardiness, because that is just not acceptable. The whole point is to help. That point was kinda lost w/me starting mom's ADL cares and feeding her breakfast!

Sunny: Hope you're feeling better each day.

Sharon: Hope YOU'RE feeling better, too.

Ok, time for the super duper, indestructible, inpenetrable bubble wrap of protection. UGH

Oh my Barb, hope you finally got a huge dose of Calgon quickly! All I could envision was steam coming out of your ears at the bank. Those are probably the first bonds she has ever seen.

Really? Well, we had more than one like that girl. Guess these folks think we won't call and tattle on them.

Sharon, D levels came to mind too. Also are you getting enough potassium and magnesium in your diet? As Barb says you've been pushing the envelope and with all that shoveling your bod hasn't quite recovered. Amazing what those D levels will do to your well being. Right now I'm on a mega dose of D2 once a week for another few weeks because mine crashed again. I thought taking 2000mg D3 daily was enough.

I hope you find your get up and go today. Maybe all it needs is a nap...

Hope all is well Sunny.

Hugs and prayers.

Monday Well rainy, ugly day yesterday. Dont know what today holds yet, but hoping the storm tames before Tuesday and Wednesday! Its quiet right now.

Well, today is the 2nd carer day. New one this time (shell be coming on Mondays). Hope it goes well!

Update: Well, she arrived TEN MINUTES LATE. Not a not a good start. UGH Did not make up the 10 minutes either, so have to call the agency. I am willing to have her next Monday, but if shes late again, thats it. Mom was up @ 6 and ready for help with bathing . . . . thats the whole idea of having the carer! So, if shes late next time, we need a new one for Mondays.

The fun and frivolity continued. After the carer left I had to go to the bank to cash some bonds. Now I knew exactly the amt. of the bonds face value. She was trying to tell me that she could only give back the face value . . . . because the bonds werent matured. WTH! Umm . . . . YES THEY ARE.

Ended up **I** went and sat with her looking @ the computer screen, **I** showed her how to look up the maturity dates, **I** showed her how to access the decision tree to get to the $$$ amt. cash value of all the bonds together. WTH I say again! Surprise, surprise. I WAS RIGHT! She said, Oh, I was reading the wrong side of the bond . . . . READING THE WRONG SIDE OF THE BOND?????? W . . . T . . . H! I DONT work there and **I** got it right. Theres a freakin decision tree for all of this. . . its not rocket science! **SIGH** Should have gotten paid for the HOUR I SPENT figuring it all out. GRRRrrr. Just glad I got the right amt. back.

Moral of the story never mess w/a woman who has already had a bad morning and is more than THREE TIMES YOUR AGE. WE DO KNOW THINGS! Guess she learned that.

The other moral of the story is this is not the first problem I have encountered w/that bank but it is definitely the last. Withdrawing the $$ and transferring to another bank as soon as possible. Did not have the time to do it today, and was not a happy camper either, so needed to just walk away for today.

ACK! Calgon take me away to someplace warm and SNOW FREE!

Kelly: Well, it was good and bad. The woman was 10 minutes later. It was like taming a tiger who is hungry to WAIT. Mom wanted to bathe (and I DONT BLAME HER!) Sooooooo . . . . yours truly ended up doing bath duty. When the girl arrived, she took over with oral hygiene and dressing. I was a bit frosty, I have to say. BUT Mom was good for her (not like w/Amy the angel), but good. I ENDED up making breakfast. The girl did help prompt Mom . I am willing to give her one more try, but thats it. Good thing I had a good night sleep. It coulda been BAD!

Sharon: Youve been pushing the envelope helping your BFF. Maybe you need more rest?? I know thats what happens to me when I burn the candle @ both ends.

Has your diet changed? That always has a profound affect on how I feel.

I forget . . . . do you have thyroid trouble? OMG, all I can say is it takes a hit this time of year. BIG TIME. Had to up my dose and feeling better. . . . human!

What about Vit. D. levels? Are you taking any Vit. D? It is a fat soluble vitamin so you dont want to take TOO MUCH, but this itme of year, its not uncommon for the levels to go low, leading to that lackluster, dull, sluggy feeling.

Any other symptoms, like hair thinning? Eyebrows missing on the outer edges? Those are signs too of thyroid problems. Raspy voice? Another one.

Just some ideas.

Oh oh . . . . blood sugar too high?? When my blood sugar was too high I felt HORRID.

Just some things (well a lot, I guess) to think about.

The new carer has one more chance (next Monday). If shes late . . . . thats it. And she didnt even make up the 10 minutes! Calling the agency about that one. That is not acceptable.

Sunny: Feeling better???

Hi all! Quick check-in. Feeling sluggish, tired, lackluster these past couple of days. Pushed water to the max all day yesterday, but still feeling "blah" today. Again pushing the water. Any other suggestions from my blue ribbon nurses?

Nothing new here.

Hope things go well with the new car giver today Barb, and that mom takes to her, too. Glad to read you got some sleep, and rest.

Kelly, glad you got out for a bit. Good luck with the cast change this week.

Sunny, hope you are feeling good, too.

Will check back in later. Love youse guys.

After a beautiful week end, we are greeted by big ole rain drops. Didn't think it was going to roll in this early. Barb hope your storm isn't as big.

Amazing what a good nights sleep will do for you isn't it? Positive vibes that a new friend comes to care for your Mom.

Nothing new, see ya at 3!

Sharon and Sunny: Hope youre having a good Sunday. Sharon, prayers for your BFF and her Mom.

Hey Sunny!!! Sad you have cabin fever, I've been in your shoes with respiratory and going out with a mask caused more grief (back in the 70's it wasn't as common) than worth it. On the brighter side, you are strong enough for surgery, please even if it's one liners let us know how you are doing. Sending you a new bubblewrap suit for that. Along with hugs and prayers.

I found myself laughing yesterday several times at both your Mom Barb and your blog Sharon. Just as our other Barb insists we take recess, I think our 3 o'clocks are just as essential, just a different name.

Good that your Dad listened to you, it is important for your Mom and I think he may have realized it was nice to have an extra set of hands. It may very well be a good change for your Mom as well. So here's to easy sailing next week.

Oh dear, sorry to hear about your friends' Mom. It has to be hard. It warms my heart that you are there, it makes a difference.

I got my big girl panties on yesterday and ventured out alone not once but twice! Second time was to the chili cook off fund raiser that was snowed out last week. Not a big turn out but it got me outta da house.
I see Ortho on Thursday, they will recast it, likely another 3 weeks. I will be aware of how they do the palm side so I can safely drive. Luckily, no pain at all, occasional discomfort from the bruising and soft tissue damage. Lots of arnica cream.

Speaking of panties. Our daughter had tix for Led Zepplin and Tesla in Orlando last night. (Rick 's daughter took Aaron for the night). Denise puts on fb that she had her granny panties all picked out to throw on stage. Here's the kicker, she got the tix not realizing who the other group was. Back in the 80's one of her friends Dad was a rock station manager and he took his son, Denise and another friend to see Tesla. They got to go back stage to meet them. I asked her if she was going to throw that pic of them with the lead with her grannies. Come to find out one of son in laws long time friend was going too so double fun. Here's the kicker - cancelled at the last minute due to illness. Ya right. At least they got a much needed break and reconnect with an old friend.

I'm not bionic yet, Doc decided (yay) that although the knee that is in bad shape wasn't a big mobility issue and didn't bother me to hold off long as I promised to come in with first sign of trouble. This was in 06 when I tore the meniscus in the other knee and they MRIed both, he was amazed that it didn't bother me, the other thing is I have a twisted fibula that he said watch carefully. So it is a matter of time, but I think when the time comes unless it's an emergency I will have it done where my daughter in law had hers, clearly that is something I can't recoop from alone. It is amazing how far technology has come even in the past 6-7 years but I think I would opt for one at a time too.

Have a great Sunday, see youse guys at 3!

Oh Mom just had me in stitches with that don't skimp! LOLOL

I hope she and the carer get on as well on Wednesday when she's back again.

I was ready to throttle Dad. He was going to stay there and stupervise the carer. I told him, NO, I would keep an eye on things -- he was to take some time AWAY from Mom. He listened!

And once bathing, etc. was done, Amy came out and we 3 chatted a bit (Mom, me and her). They worked on her puzzle and next project is going to be coloring.

So, it is working out that Dad and I get a little break. Hallelujah.

Well brother dear is going to get on board. That's all I can say.

Sunny: Absolutely agree about having the worst knee done first and go from there. That is exactly what I did and it was the right choice.

Yup . . . . that's it. We're the bionic amigos! LOL We're bionic party animals! BWAHAHAHA!

Happy Saturday all! I just about busted a gut reading your momism for today, Barb!!!!
shes' pretty darn specific in her order isn't she?! emoticon So so very happy that God sent you an angel for a caregiver! Hope she and mom become besties! How'd things go with your dad? Now if you can get your brother more fully on board maybe you can fit in some much needed me time.

Kelly, count me in as sooooo glad you got out yesterday! emoticon So nice to have friends that look out for you like that! When does all that come off? Are you still in pain?

Sunny, so happy to see you with us again! We've missed you, and must be the prayers worked! Good to hear that you are strong enough to move forward on the surgery. Best of luck with everything on Tuesday! It's hard holding off on the surgery, but worth it at our age. Have the worst one done first - not both at once! Didn't realize you had knee replacement surgery, Barb. Are we all bionic? That would be so cool! One more thing in common!

BF is "surviving". Her mom is becoming more argumentative. Dementia has gotten worse. Got to see social worker test her yesterday, and definitely could see the decline since last time I was there a couple of weeks ago. Gone all day, and traffic was lighter than I expected as schools were still closed, so alot of people had to stay home with kids. 7 snow days in the last 2 weeks. We'll see what happens Monday - we have 1 small lane in/out of our neighborhood; snow still in the street on both sides of that. So have to be ready to yeild the right of way 'cause no place to maneuver.

Thanks for the feedback on Happy Hour blog. Glad you all enjoyed it. It totally made me laugh and smile while doing it. Feel free to "pass it on". I'd love to have more people join us! How cool is that - a virtual Happy Hour?! Like our 3 PM get-togethers only on a large scale! Can you tell I'm a party animal?

Speaking of that, going to celebrate a dear friend's birthday - one of DH's friends. DH and he met in '91 when we moved back here - they worked together. They had just returned from overseas too. Got to meet his wife about 6 months later as she was ill for awhile, and she is a very dear friend of mine. The 4 of us get along so well, and love doing things together. I can see us teaming up after retirement for some shared adventures! An evening of fun, frivolity, and games!

Enjoy your evening, and sending you each a BIG emoticon & emoticon !

Oh boy. Glad youre getting strong enough to move forward with the surgery. Good luck with the visit and the blood work.

I had many steroid shots into my right knee till I had my replacement. I too put it off as long as I could. It is not an easy surgery, but it makes SUCH a difference in mobility. My Dr. wanted to do both knees @ once. For me, I declined because I wanted to make sure that the right knee worked before tackling the left. My right knee replacement is now 8 yrs. old. The left knee is still going but it will definitely need replacing in the future. Not ready yet, though.

Have a great Saturday!

Hi Everyone! I know it has been a while and for that, I am sorry.

Barb, loved the marching orders from Mom. Also happy to hear she has taken to her caretaker. That will make things a little easier for you. Yea!

Kelly, out and about. I am so jealous. I am still home bound but good news. I am seeing the surgeon next week as I am strong enough to move forward on the surgery. I will go in Tuesday and see him and get pre op blood work done.

I did get a steroid shot for the Osteoarthritis Flare up in my left knee and it is feeling somewhat better. I also got the results of the MRI and looks like I am looking at a knee replacement and probably two. Ugh....I am going to try to put that off as long as I can for sure.

Sharon, hope the day with your BF and her Mom goes well. You are a good friend to help out. They are blessed!!

I am off to read Sharon's blog. Hope you all have a very good weekend.

Huggers, Suny

Saturday Holy jackpot to beat all jackpots. We hit the jackpot w/the caregiver, Amy. Shell be here on Wed. and Fri. and another aide will be here on Mondays. She is an angel! Mom took to her right away. Hallelujah! It helped that she had a Xanax on board. BUT she cooperated, was talkative and followed instructions. Who knew!

Looks like this weekend Ill be stocking up for our needs for the week as were expecting a huge storm Tuesday into Wednesday not a happy face! But have to be ready.

Kelly: I was amazed how well Mom did. Well see if it continues. I PRAY IT DOES. There will be a new carer on Monday, but the one from yesterday will be here on Wednesdays and Fridays, thankfully.

So glad you got out yesterday! AWESOME!!!

OMG! My marching orders for today are, and I quote, Im cold I want a hot toddy and dont skimp on the hard stuff. OMGOMGOMG I just about doubled over with laughter!

Sharon: I cannot wipe the smile off my fact after reading your Happy Hr. blog yesterday. That keeps me going for DAYS!

Sunny: Yoo Hoo! Hope youre feeling better.

Well how did it go with home health, did your Mom meet a new friend? Hope so.

And Sharon I hope all went well and your other Mom is good and that traffic was kind to you. That ruins a good trip everytime.

I had to come back Sharon, your Friday happy hour is the bestest yet. I will be smiling all day.

Another nice day, supposed to be like that into next week with lousy weather Thursday but I don't think it is the s word. Agreed, a few inches over a dump works, bonus if no ice.

A friend invited me out for awhile last night, played taxi even so I could join them. I didn't realize how big of a case of cabin fever I had, sure did me good.

Three marshmallows, mini ones at that - how cute! What will she want today?

Sunny, behaving yourself?

I hope the weather is good and you all have a relaxing week end. See ya at 3!

Sharon: BTDT. You're right -- the squeaky wheel does get the oil! I'm pretty squeaky! emoticon

Kelly, Sunny: Hope you're doing well and behaving!

Friday well in about an hr. the home health aide will arrive for the first visit to help mom bathe and dress. I honestly dont expect it to be a rousing success, but will give it a try.

Still talking about a big storm Tues. into Wed. next week. Well see what materializes. HOPE NOTHING materializes but would rather a few inches then to get dumped on.

I am sure ready for the weekend.

HUGS and prayers for our soldiers, families and our country.

See y'all @ 3 pm, Have my marching orders -- some hot chocolatge w/Kahlua and 3 mini marshmallows on top. Alrighty then. Done and done.

Sharon: WERE on the same wavelength. Thats what I have planned tomorrow. Comfort on a plate.

Most important to help your BFF, so I wouldnt stress about the Happy Hr. Blog! BUT hope that the traffic and all cooperates.

HUGS!

Yummm on dinner Sharon!

Hope traffic cooperates tomorrow and she has a good day.

Paid taxes this week too, always grateful to live here where I do. More than reasonable.

Nothing exciting for the week end, how about all of you?,

Hi All! Back after running errands and now have dinner all ready to go. True comfort dinner, meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and green beans. Haven't had mashed potatoes in a loong time.

I sent off a report to Adblock, and hopefully, there is something that can be done about it. Of course, I won't know for a few days, and will see what happens tomorrow. If it doesn't get resolved through ad-blocking then I'll go to the Community Message Board, and start a thread on the Site/technical help forum.

Oh, by the way, going tomorrow again to help my BF with her mom, so Happy Hour may be later than a 5 PM post. If traffic is not too bad, all should be on time. Fingers crossed!

Have a great evening all.

Good Morning! Quick check-in and then out to run errands after a whole week!

Barb, brilliant idea! Just tie in haircuts with 3 PM treats. You are so lucky to be able to cut and style hair. The few times I've try to trim my bangs, it's not a pretty sight!

Kelly, hope you are doing well. Any big plans for the weekend?

Sunny, thinking of you, and hoping you are OK.

What's up with having an HUGE pop-up ad display after spinning the bonus wheel? Did anyone else get this?

Catch y'all later! emoticon

Thursday the weekend is close! Ready for it.

Paid real estate taxes yesterday. Now THATS not fun for sure. But its done. PHEW Like having the blood sucked out of you by a vampire!

Supposed to have a major storm next week. That is not good news. BUT thats next week. Have to just wait and see what happens.

Hope its a good Thursday!

Sharon: Little brother may be 6 ft. 3 and outweigh me by 200+ lbs., but hes aware that when I say something I mean business and that Im a force to be reckoned with. BWAHAHA! GRRRR!!!!

Unbelievably, Mom likes the cut and style PHEW

Glad that DH could get out to work. **SIGH** Were expecting a major storm next week Tues. into Wed., but too early to have any accurate assessment (heck, they cant stand outside IN the weather when its happening and get it right!)

Kelly: LOL I expected a hissyfit. But (heehee) put some kahlua in her coffee just a little. Aint I a sneaky little devil. Whatever works.

Sunny: Thinking of you. Hope youre feeling better.

DEFINITELY going to be there @ 3 pm.

Hugs and prayers for our soldiers, families and our country.

That was good to hear they are reconsidering that procedure!

Amazing how some pampering changes their mood isn't it? Was she in a primping mood all day? If I had cut her hair you would have heard her hissyfit for miles...

I saw that pot earlier Sharon, great price but not quite ready to bail on this one. At one time they made one with an auto shutoff so I think I will look for that.

Chilly this morning, absolutely beautiful day yesterday.

How are you doing Sunny?

Will see y'all at 3, with a hearty mug of sumthin'!

Wednesday after many phone calls and a discussion w/Dads Dr., we will see the GI Dr. on 8 February. IF the esophagoscopy is needed, that will be 16 February. The IF is what makes me happy, because the Dr. is cognizant of Dads age so says that we need to determine if the benefits outweigh the risks of having this procedure. HALLELUJAH. That is what we needed.

More snow yesterday, but just a little. Not bad.

Otherwise a mildly insane day as compared to an insane day! LOL I shampooed, cut and curled Moms hair. She liked it. PHEW.

Kelly: LOL not sure if he interpreted it as encouraging but he got the msg. LOL Bout time.

My SIL has an electric perculator and loves it. Back in the day my Mom had a Corning Ware percolator with the corn flower design. LOVED that. I eventually died and was replaced, but I always loved that percolator.

Glad that the white stuff is gone , but boo on the ice.

Sharon, Sunny: hope all is well.

Hugs and prayers for our soldiers, families and our country.

Deep breaths Barb, good for you "encouraging" your brother to get with it! Here's to mission accomplished quickly today.

Seems like all the trades have the plumbers syndrome. Duluth something company has some funny ads, they are equal opportunity, even take on us ladies with it. At least you got your door fixed quickly.

Wow Sharon those do overs must have been something to watch, well they know what not to do should it happen again. Be safe. May the nicer weather we had be on its way to you.

Like your idea of using it for toddies, on the menu for next cold wave. I have my coffee, when that's done I have some tea. I just nuke the water if using tea bags but have a couple of ways to steep loose tea. Years ago I had a coffee maker that you could steam your milk, luved it. I think mine is on its way out, doesn't keep it warm. When the last one died on us, I wanted to get an electric perculator but John didn't want to wait for me to go to a different store since Costco didn't have it. Guys, geez. His Mom has one that is close to, if not over, 50 years old! And she uses it daily. I had a stove top Corning one that I just loved. Also had a Chemex one in the 60's.

Nothing new, rain washed all our white stuff away but there is still ice in higher areas. See ya at 3, if not sooner.

Hi Dee Ho!

Well, still snowed in. They have found that the snow is impossible to move with a simple pick-up mounted plow. They came in with little mini Bobcat loader yesterday, and the snow got the best of that, too. DH said that the snow at the bottom of the street is 3 foot deep! We haven't been out because of piles of snow in the middle of the street in front of our house, and gov't still closed. Many parts of the surrounding area are still under one or more inches of snow in neighborhoods. It's like they don't even try to get in to plow. They clear main roads and that's it.

Barb, sorry to hear about your carafe, but glad you got it replaced, I have found the Mr. Coffee brand to be the most prone to do this. I have a Cuisinart Combination Coffeemaker, and hot water dispenser that we just love. Got it from DS a few Christmases ago. I "treat" myself to coffee on the weekends (except for this snowstorm-needed the caffeine to get me going from all of the shoveling), and DH uses it to make his tea. He loves it too. Also makes it really convenient for those hot toddies I have been making after shoveling!
Glad you got your closet door fixed with the comedic relief thrown in for free. emoticon
Hope you get all of the details figured out for your mom and dad. Time to call in the cavalry!

Warmer today, but going down to low 30s tonight with 50/50 chance of rain late tonight and into early tomorrow morning.

Well, DH just called me to window. They have shown up with a bigger front end loader and pick-up with snowplow on front. We'll see how far that gets us this time.

Catch y'all later.
