Looks like your Dad needed some good sleep too. Hope he had a comfortable night again and that his appetite is still with him. Don't forget to give yourself me time, that is important Barb.

The temps are higher but the humidity is great, however the weekend is a different story. We sure do spoil easily don't we Sharon?

The banner is on the team pages that I looked at, except for the site help page, interesting too is they all relate to sparks. I'm so sick and tired of having to stop those featured ads, at least we can stop them. Many ads elsewhere you can't so I just quickly move on and keep that product in mind not to buy. I sent an email to egglands but no reply from them either.

Smiled reading about your grandson not only going to the store with you but helping you in with them Sunny.

Hope all is well with you Thiry and Marsha. Nothing exciting going on around here.

Hugs and Prayers, today is the 12th anniversary of the massacre of the Redwing unit, extra prayer going to their Gold Star Families. See you at 3 or thereabouts!

Good Mirning ladies.

Barb, glad that your Dad's appetite is back, and that your brother came. I hope he has decided he NEEDS to do that more often. I hope you were able to get some sleep last night. Do they live in an apt type place, or just a room with 2 beds? Still praying for your dad, and your mom, and you. Hope you manage to get a few hour nap again today.

Nothing new here. Yesterday was a gorgeous day - low humidity, and highs in the 70s! We sat out on our deck and sipped strawberry daiquiris last night. It was nice, supposed to be warmer today. Nooooooooooooooooo

Sunny glad you are enjoying your grandson. Is he bored yet? emoticon

Kelly and Thiry, hope you both are doing well.
Hope it's a good day for you all.

Wednesday - Stayed overnight with Mom and Dad on Monday night. Dad didn't wake up once. Mom slept well. I slept on a chair -- not so much sleep!

Dad was hungry by the time Tuesday morning arrived. He was very drowsy, but just responding a little! He ate some oatmeal for breakfast after having nothing Monday.

I left around 10 am Tuesday morning to get a nap! My brother and I went there @ noon. Dad was still hungry! He was more tired though. So, he ate just a little lunch and we got them back to their room. Dad fell asleep. Better than Monday, that's for sure. As a matter of fact he didn't even know he'd slept all day yesterday! He didn't realize I stayed overnight.

Well, onto Wednesday.

Sharon, Sunny, Kelly, Thiry, Marsha: I hope that all is well.

Thank you for your support when things are rough!

Hugs and prayers for our soldiers, families and our country.

See y'all @ 3 pm.

Sunny: Thanks. I came home and just was going to take a nap. Well, that ended up being 3 hrs. Hospitals and nursing facilities . . . . NOT easy places to fall asleep at.

Went back this afternoon to meet the Brother Unit. Dad was in his wheel chair. Sleeping, albeit OUT OF BED. That was a good start. Not hungry, but did eat some. so, I'll take what I can get. He didn't know I spent the night there.

Mom did pretty well with all of this. Was pretty calm today. Again, I'll take it.

Prayers -- they do help!

Barb, just checking in for any news on your Dad. Just make sure to pace yourself, If you can, agree with Kelly, try to catch a power nap. Glad Jas is there for support and whatever else you might need. You and your dad have been in and out of my thoughts all day today. I hope your mom is okay, too, just been concentrating extra hard on your dad with my prayers and healing thoughts.

A friend of mine calls her husband "himself". What a hoot.

I pray you are getting some rest Barb. What a tough time for you. So glad Jason is not traveling this week.

The vegetarian Diet is working out well. He is getting plenty of protein and has not complained as of yet. That is a good thing.

He went with me to the grocery store and it was so nice having some company. To top it off, he even helped me unload the care. He is so sweet.

Hugs to you all, Sunny

Hugs and then some Barb, can not be easy watching your Mom; amazing what they can sense isn't it? Don't wear yourself out meantime, it's okay to take a power nap.

Hilarious you call your brother the brother unit, haha.

Tuesday Dad took a turn for the worse yesterday. Stayed with him and Mom all night. No change in Dad. Somewhat more comfortable. At least thats a good thing. Poor Mom knows something is wrong but just doesnt understand. **SIGH**

Brother unit is coming up sometimes this morning.

Thiry: What a group of rude people!

You surely had a busy time!!!

Sunny: Thank you for the prayers.

Kelly, Marsha: Heres to a good Tuesday.

You had quite a busy weekend Thiry! I hope your cousin made it to her destination without more problems! That is so cool her riding a three wheeler though! I'm chicken, won't even get on a trike.

I think we all have encountered these running groups that think they own the place alone. I'd let the organizers know about it, ask them to add it to their prerace instructions next year...these folks probably do it when they are on their own too so who knows if it would register.

It's probably a good thing you had to leave early, I don't know if I could resist shutting swoon face down. TCU lost the semifinal game, it is an all SEC championship Florida v LSU. Game 2 tonight, best of 3.

Well, enjoy your short work weeks by the way. Seems crazy the year is half over.

Marsha did you survive your weekend with the little ones?

Barb, Sharon and Sunny thinking of you all. Oh Sunny good to hear you are giving it your best shot at veggietarian, Sorry he is struggling with fitting in with his seizures.

Hugs and Prayers, especially to you Barb. It'll be tea for me at 3, maybe limeade if I go get groceries.

BARB I totally agree that the person passing confidential information needs to be let go and hope that it does happen but since she is a supervisor I have a feeling it wont happen. Of course if it had been me passing on confidential information I probably would have been shown the door almost immediately. Glad that Jason had a safe trip and that you were able to have an early meal when he got back home. Sorry to hear about your dad. Lots and lots of prayers for all. Im sure this is affecting your mom in a big way also. Good to hear that things are going well for John.

KELLY Good to hear that you dodged the remnants of Cindy. The game was pretty good. I left at 4 pm (about half way through the game) so I could head home since DH cousin was coming in. While at the office I found out one of the people who would be sitting next to me at the game so when I got there I was looking for her shirt to help me find my seat. I found her and started walking down the stops to the row and then realized who was on the other side of my seat. Oh the gods were against me as it was the snitch sitting on the other side. She did actually acknowledge me and talked to me while at the game. She was also swooning all over TCUs #3 (short stop) the whole game. She kept going on about how it was too bad that she wasnt between 18-20 years old as she would go for this player. The game was at 2-1 TCU leading when I left and I later found out that they won 3-1 and are now playing in the finals tonight. Glad to hear that your grandson has been cleared medically. Hopefully it wont be long before he gets into the combat medic program.

SHARON I hope your son can complete his thesis and get that off his plate. Sorry to hear about your friend, prayers for the family. Good to hear that Cindy became subdued by the time she got to your area.

SUNNY Glad you left the doctors without the prescription. Hope things are going well for you with your bike. Take it easy getting back to it tough. Have a great time spoiling William. Sorry to hear about his seizures and prayers that they get farther and farther apart.

MARSHA I hope all is well in your world.

It has been really busy here and especially when I realized that DH cousin was coming in for the weekend. Wednesday I realized that I had been billing some of the kids wrong for the last 3 years as I didnt know that after 9 hours (6-9 charge the daily rate) I could charge the daily rate plus hourly rate for any time over the 9 hours. I ended up going through the last 3 months billings to the state and rebilling any account that was affected by this billing rule. The new amounts resulted in just under $1,500 extra income for the company for that time period. I just hate to think about how much money was lost because I didnt know this billing rule and neither did the person that trained me. Friday I had to do an order first thing when I got to work then complete my deposit. After that I was told that I could just look busy since we had the tailgate party starting at 11 am. I did more than look busy as I completed all my Title XX calendars through Thursday before closing down my computer about 11:30 when I was instructed to. When I left the game I headed straight home and had time to change clothes and get the gravy made to go with the roast, carrots and potatoes I had started in the crock pot the night before. We were able to eat shortly after Judy arrived since I had used the crock pot for the supper meal. Saturday morning she and I went for a walk at the lake. We walked the big end of the lake and as we were 3 miles from home we started passing lots of people on a walk for Chrons & colitis. These people were so rude as even though they saw us walking toward them they made no effort to move over to allow us to have room on the sidewalk, forcing us into the grass. Judy started putting her hands forward and slowly swinging them outward and saying share the trail please. At one point one of the male walkers said OMG share the trail share the trail in a mocking voice. At that point I stopped, turned around and said this is a public path and we have just as much right to walk on the sidewalk as you do. He didnt respond. We continued walking toward home stopping several times to let people go by and as they did they actually ran into Judy and not a single one of them made any attempt to apologize for running into her. After we passed all the walkers we had a few bikers come up behind us and we talked to them and they were also forced off the trail by all these walkers. I found their website with a contact email for the group sponsoring the walk and have been tempted to send an email telling them how rude their walkers were Saturday morning. After getting home we ate and then headed to Nebraska City stopping at the 2 wineries and then going to the Arbor Lodge Mansion. Judy was really surprised to find out that this was the home of Arbor Day. This mansion was absolutely amazing. I couldnt believe how big all the rooms were, especially for the time period in which the mansion was built. While at the first winery Judy bought a package of Caramel Apple Oatmeal Cookies. OMG these cookies were absolutely amazing.

Sunday Judy and I walked the full lake then went to Cabela to see if she could find some bobbers like some we had seen on the lake Saturday morning. This morning she hung out at the apartment until the rain cleared as she is riding her trike (3 wheeled motorcycle). About 11 she started out for the trip to Colorado to visit the other cousin stopping at Wal-Mart to give DH his house key. She only got another 20 or so miles down the road when she started having trouble with the trike. She ended up sitting out there by the Wilderness Safari until almost 4 pm before the tow truck got there to pick her up and bring her back to Omaha. The trike was taken to the shop just off the interstate just off 144th. They looked at it right away, tightened the clutch cable, took it for a test drive and when he got back showed here what to do if it would happen again and sent her on her way, not charging her anything for what he had done. Needless to say she is still at our place tonight as it was way too late to start out again after getting the trike looked at. I guess when she gets to Rapid City to her daughters later this week she is going to take it into the dealership there and have it completely checked over.

Well I work the next 2 days then I am off until Wednesday 7/5 as DH has his annual checkup with the cardiologist Thursday and I decided I didnt feel like going in on Friday after having Thursday off and took Monday off since Tuesday is a holiday so I have a 6 day weekend coming up with the only day that has anything scheduled being Thursday.

Have a great week everyone.
Thiry

Monday Well, Dad had a bit of a better day yesterday. He was trying to eat. Not nauseated as before and he had tummy sounds. Thats a GOOD thing. He actually got up in the wheel chair for a while, too. So, who knows. I still believe he had a mini-stroke (transient ischemic attack) as his right side is a little weaker then the left. But maybe a little less weak than yesterday. So, we move forward.

Today is the usual workday routine. Ill settle for that! At least Jas doesnt travel this week. Hurray!

Sunny: Well glad that Williams seizures are farther apart. I pray he is outgrowing them!

OOPS! Mislabeled the comment about the Marines using Navy medics.

Kelly, Sharon, Thiry: Hope its a good day.

Hugs, prayers for our soldiers, famiies and our country.

See yall @ 3 pm.

So happy to hear Dad has a little bit better day.

Also, it will be nice having Jason home this week.

We are trying our best to spoil William. My heart really aches for him at times as he doesn't feel like he ever has "fit in" due to the seizures. But, they are getting farther and farther apart so that hopefully he is outgrowing them. We can only pray! We are not having any problems with his new diet and I fixed some pasta I had in the pantry for him yesterday that contained a seasoning packet. The box said it had 19grams of protein. Wow - didn't know this when I bought it but it worked out well.

I am off to work on my Bible Study as we are meeting tonight after not meeting for the past couple of weeks.

Take care and do have a blessed day.

Barb, it was Kelly that was talking about the Navy trained medics for the Marines. I didn't know this either but found this quiet interesting.

Hugs to you all, Sunny

Sunny: That is interesting. I did not know that the Marines use Navy trained medics. Wishing your grandson all the best.

John . . . happily single but always has a new gal pal. LORD. I don't know how the kid does it. but he loves cooking. So I suspect the ladies are impressed with a guy who can cook! LOL Otherwise he's doing pretty well. Tough winter w/SAD and the PTSD, but he (and a LOT of other soldiers) use the light boxes on the base during the winter and he said that helps a lot.

Now it's 24/7 light, so no problems.

He's learning how to install transmissins and service vehicles, which is right up his alley. He was responsible for upkeeping the tanks @ Ft. Wainwright, and that was quite a task in the frigid winter.

So, he's doing pretty well. He is so busy.

Gee there must be a leak somewhere. Sharon I am sorry to hear about your friend passing, I agree they know there is presence among them. Sometimes it is best to have the service soon, his wife probably feels or hopes she will wake up out a nightmare but you all are there to help her through it.

Sunny so even at your grandson's age, it'll be nice to spoil him for a bit won't it? Thanks for the reminder on stretching before biking, I think that is part of my problem too. That and I've been very very lazzzzy.

Thanks, let's hope that the mishaps he has suffered through have ended with this third one, kid needs a break. He is excited. Apparently the Marines do not have combat medics so the Navy trains theirs to be assigned to them, who knew, I didn't. His gal pal goes to school at UofSan Diego, they actually met while he was in boot camp in IL way back when through mutual friend, but didn't start hanging out big time til recently. (Grandson's girlfriend broke up with him Thanksgiving). Steady dating, seems that way but who knows at this point.

Speaking of single, Barb how is John doing up in the hinderlands?

I'll have to look for that Barb, sounds really good and refreshing and a great way to add fruit. We haven't had blood oranges around here for a couple of months it seems, just love them. I know your friend was given a loving toast. I'll raise a glass to him as well.

Well no lemonade for me. I made some limeade but I must keep an eye on the bottled stuff and not push it to the back of the fridge shelf because it went bad. So I'm making iced tea and will add some limoncello to it.

Sunny: Yup . . . . LOBSTAH . . . but DH had it whil he was on his business trip . . . dang!!!

Yes, I think Mom staying with him helped Dad. I was expecting a call all night, but . . . thank goodness nothing.

Good luck w/the bike!

Kelly: Yeah, I had leaking eyes all dang day yesterday and last night. **SIGH** And no, I dont think it was the meds at all. IMHO, I believe he had a mini-stroke. I say mini stroke because he was just a tad better when we left last night, but still . . . not good.

OMG! LAKE GENEVA is where your grandsons gal pal lives. Nice!!! BWAHAHAHA!!! Too funny . . . . the storage house is their lake house. Hmmmm . . . not too many storage sheds to be found in Lake Geneva! Congrats on him being medically cleared for the combat medic job. Wishing him all the luck in the world.

So glad that the party was a success.

Sharon: So sorry to hear about your friends passing. So sorry. Yes, I am sure that he knew you were there. They definitely may not be able to react outwardly, but they know.

Well, for sure brother unit has bot to be a brick wall if he DOESNT get it. All I can do is just let him know.

Ok, breaking out some Cedarburg Spice wine (like a sangria) simple So good. Had some oranges, and blueberries thrown in. So good and refreshing.

Hey all.

Well, our friend passed away early this morning about 3:30 AM so we are quite subdued today. Makes me sad, he didn't get to see us yesterday, but I know he knows we were there. Funeral is tomorrow afternoon as that is the only time the rabbi he wanted to officiate is free this week. His wife is just going through the motions. . .

Barb, I'm sorry to read about your dad. Keeping you in prayers now. I hope the new meds kick in, and help. Your mom's reaction was a good sign for her. Sending hugs for you all, and I agree with Kelly - your brother does know - just doesn't want to face it. That's the way my BF's brother is. They still have not had a memorial service because of that.

Marsha, Sunny, Thiry enjoy your company and spoiling the little ones.

Kelly, good to read that your grandson has been medically cleared from his injuries and accepted in the combat medic program. Hope things progress as he wants them to, and at the speed he wishes.

Started our drinking with brunch. A blood orange screwdriver. Have a good one ladies.

So good to hear your grandson was cleared from his injuries. Keep us posted. In the meantime, color me jealous. Lake Geneva would be great this time of year. I sure do love your son's sense of humor.

The weather is love here too.

Lemonade with something at 3?

Hugs to all, Sunny

My eyes just developed a bit of a leak Barb especially after reading about your Mom's reactions..prayers, hugs, shoulders anything else your family needs Hope he is more comfortable today, maybe it is the new med that set him off kilter? Oh and your brother GETS the message. Here, another hug

Kids are like that Sharon, I wouldn't be surprised if you get a "call" because they decided they did want to see you. Good luck to him on this appropriations thing.

Marsha, Sunny, Thiry enjoy your company and spoiling the little ones.

Well, our grandson the sailor boy has been medically cleared from his injuries and accepted in the combat medic program but it could take months for a slot to open. Meanwhile he will be assigned to other duties elsewhere. Now it is an expected granted short shore leave for him, he has joined his gal pal at her parents lake house at - tahah!!! - Lake Geneva, then today they are headed to their Chicago home for a day or two. He sent a video of some tourist site with a huge mansion and out buildings, joking this is their lake house. Son took a picture of their storage shed, called the wasphouse as their lake house. Ha!

The party was a huge success, the wonderful low humidlty wins the door prize! Today almost as nice but a bit more humid as the afternoon goes on. I'm home, opted out on going paddle boarding with them. Another reason why I took my life preserver out of the car.

Have a good one, I'll have some lemonade with youse lassies in a bit!

LOBSTAH sounds amazing. Barb and I will be right over, Sharon!

Our Son & DIL headed home to Kansas today but William is going to stay a couple of weeks. We are doing fairly well on his new Vegetarian Diet. So far, he is getting plenty of protein. Whew!

Sharon, so sorry to hear about your friend.

Barb, Oh mercy, I was sorry to read about your Dad's day yesterday. Praying that he has a better day today. How sweet of your Mom. You are right in that it probably helped your dad. What a day! Praying for you all!

Headed back to the bike tomorrow. I have missed it but had that problem with my left leg again and doc thought I should take a break. Hopefully, the stretching before I bike will help.

Hugs to you all, Sunny

Sunday quite a long day yesterday. My heart is really sad. Dad had a terrible day . . . . unable to do the necessaries, unable to eat, no bowel sounds, felt nauseous. Had the hospice nurse there and well see what today brings. He was a little more comfortable. Called my brother to let him know whats going on. Well see where that goes, too. **SIGH**

I can tell Mom knows something is happening. She would not leave his side. That is like the old Mom and I think it helped Dad.

Blessings.

Sharon: So sorry to hear about your friend. So sad.

Hmmmm . . . grilled pizza. Sounds delish!

Yup . . . LOBSTAH . . . w/o me!

Awww, nice that you got facetime w/your DS and tye munchkins.

Glad Cindy has simmered down!

Kelly, Suny, Thiry, Marsha: Have a good Sunday.

Hugs and prayers for our soldiers, familes and our country.

Till 3 pm!

Well, Cindy had become quite subdued - thank God - by the time she reached our neck of the woods. Our weather is supposed to moderate as well, too.

We did go to see our friend, and he was "out of it", and he was on morphine for pain. We may try to go over tomorrow for a little bit. Apparently yesterday was a better day.

Made the Bahama Mamas yesterday, and am going to do them again tomorrow. My BF, and she is to Greg as well, is coming over for dinner. We are going to try our hand at Grilled Pizza. So those will be fun for cocktails. They were mighty good when she and I went to Atlantis! Drank at least 4 a day!

Adding insult to injury with lobster dinner, huh? Herumph!

I hope the new med helps your Dad, too Barb, and glad you got Mom calmed down. I hope today was better for both, and you and Jas got to have a dinner date.

Thiry hope the visit is going well, and is enjoyable for all.

Hope the farmer's market was a success today, and you get some time with your little grandson, Marsha!

We got to FaceTime with DS and our two little ones today. They were not interested in talking which was disappointing. Got to catch up a little with DS though. Next week is the Defense Appropriations Bill.

Take care all. Sleep well.

From this morning's report from the National Weather Service in Nashville...hope it is the same where you are.

With the (underwhelming) remnants of Tropical Storm Cindy out of the way, and cooler, drier air slowly working its way into Middle Tennessee, we have a high risk of very pleasant weather the next five days. Temperatures from today at least through Wednesday will remain below normal (by several degrees in some instances). Overnight lows the next 4 nights beginning tonight will be in the 50's (fifties!). Once these last few pesky showers go away this morning, our next chance of rain won't be until Thursday at the earliest. So give yourselves a pat on the back, everyone. We've paid our dues and definitely deserve this forecast.

Sharon I too am sorry to hear about your friend and do hope you get to say good bye to him. It is never easy. I'm not going to dwell on mortality, until the next health scare. I have a few years on you so hopefully as time goes on this recent scare you had will be just that in your mind, a scare and an awareness, which is a good thing. You are doing awesome.

Best of luck to your son as he finishes this chapter, seems like the last one takes the longest doesn't it? What is he getting his Master's in? Another reason to grab the kiddos I say.

I'm going to try that drink too, seems to me this was a fav party drink at our son's house in FL. All good things make a come back.

Lobstah! Sigh.

I hope the new med helps your Dad AND it doesn't affect his heart rate. Sorry your Mom had such a bad day, Here's to a really good one today.

Thiry how was the game? I wanted to watch it but things kept getting in the way. I watched most of the beat down Florida got from the Horned Frogs.

I bet you are enjoying your weekend spoiling your grands Marsha!

Hugs and Prayers. We'll all be having sumthin with you at 3 for sure.

Saturday -We had rain and thunderstorms all night and into the early morning. Then the sun peeked out. PHEW>

Jason got home a little earlier than anticipated. That was a nice surprise. So we got to have an early supper (left over chicken stir fry).

Dad is going to start a new med Atroopine. Hoping that helps with the breathing. Will have to watch his heart rate, though.

Mom was cranked yesterday, so spent 1.5 hrs. getting her calmed down. **SIGH**

Well, hope that its a good Saturday!

Sharon: Wishing your DS good luck. I remember doing that way back when reading, writing, editing. Repeat. Hope he gets thru it soon.

Awwww, my prayers for your friend. Yes, that is a very difficult step stopping the defibrillator. I hope youll get to see him.

YES! It was nice to have Jas home early He and I actually got to have supper together! NICE. And for sure, Mr. Spot earned a doggie bone AND a piece of banana (his favorite treat! For sure, it was hard for him to leave the resort! LOL Their supper on Thursday night was lobster in the shell. OMGOMGOMG Now that would be hard to take (NOT).

I am glad that the storms that blew thru were not as bad here as predicted. PHEW>

I have to get the ingredients for the Bahama Mama. I am definitely going to make it!

Kelly, Thiry, Sunny, Marsha: Hope all you are safe if there are storms in your area!

Hugs and prayers for our soldiers, families and our country.

See yall @ 3 pm. Going to try a Bahama Mama.

Probably no spoilin' time this weekend - DS has lots of work and reading on his plate for his thesis. That's all he has to do to complete his Masters. This is what he was going to do with all of his "free time" during last deployment, but less than a week later, the fit hit the shan, and he was working 24/7! Then home with a new baby, and the rest is history as they say. We may call and offer. . .
We'll see what happens. We have a good friend who has been brought home and placed in hospice. We were hoping to get to see him today - that's why the blog was late. Looks like it will just be family tomorrow. If it's God's will I know we'll get to see him before he goes. They stopped his defibrillator today. This is hard. This is the first of our friends to face death. It is causing me to face my own mortality, and it is scary when you think how fast time flies!

Kelly, glad the storms went south of you. Seems we are going to get a lot less than was forecast, too. I am however looking forward to the drop in humidity. God 2 days into summer, and I'm already wimping out! Counting down the days until mid- October.

Barb, glad your Dad and mom are more comfortable. Glad Jas got home early! Way to go, Jas!!!!! Give Mr. Spot a doggie cookie from me for holding down the fort and keeping all those hippopotamuses and rhinoceros off your lawn while Jas was gone! He gets extra points for leaving such a beautiful place early!!!!

Thiry, enjoy your company.

Marsha, hope you are doing well; good luck at the Farmer's Market tomorrow!

Did you guys enjoy the Bahama Mama! Believe it or not, I had a can of the Orange, Pineapple, and Banana Dole Juice in my freezer! emoticon

Sleep well, and sweet dreams! emoticon

Enjoy the game Thiry!!! And enjoy your visit!

Luved your blog Sharon by the way! Will you get some spoiling time in with the grands this weekend finally?

Hope the weather lords are good so Jason gets in on time and that Mr. Spot can relax. Tell him I am proud he did a good job bravely watching the homestead. Of course, I hope your folks had a comfortable day today.

Sunny and Marsha enjoy your weekend!

We dodged Cindy really big time, not by much but we did! She went just to the south and east of us. Crazy wobbly way to go. We will still get some downpours and such but will be gone by tomorrow. Daughter in law is throwing a party for her Dad's 80th, relief that it will be nice. Plus I am missing the first neighborhood block party in a long time. Fun things always come at the same time it seems.

I missed 3 o'clock, so getting ready to fix my self sumthin before I prep food to take tomorrow and bake that sawdust pie. Hugs to all!

I was instructed to shut my computer down about 11:30 then went to the training room to eat. After that hung out waiting for my deposit to be picked up but finally made a call. They are running late. Told them the deposit was at the front desk as I was leaving for the game. Game about to start. Then home as quickly as possible as DH cousin getting in late this afternoon.

Quick drive by, couldn't get on earlier and we have had a longgggggg calm before the storm and I need to grab some good eats for this week end. It was very very nice here yesterday afternoon into this morning but it is about 2 hours away, looks like it may be waning though. Who knows you can't predict these storms.

So, got my red on will check in later. Hugs

Friday Storms off and on all day/afternoon/night yesterday. Hope its calmer today.

Mr. Spot did a good job being the watch dog. Good boy!

I will be glad when Jason comes home later tonight.

Mom looked a little better yesterday. Dad very sleepy and still short of breath, but I think maybe a little less today. Small victory.

TGIF!

Sharon: Mr. Spot did very well last night. I was happy for that! And hope it is that way again tonight as we have had rain today, but tonight is supposed to be strong thunderstorms. UGH

Well, yes, I think it's time for a break form the parental "stuff". We shall see what happens. Dad sounded better a little today. Mom's legs were less swollen. The Dr. is going to start her on Lasix and I am hopeful that will take care of the situation.

Happy Friday Eve ladies! Just got the Blog done for today.

So glad Jas arrived safe and sound in Lake Geneva. Talk about a real sweeeetttt deal! OMG - one of the most beautiful places on Earth! Really, really, rough . . . I must say! emoticon

So how did Mr. Spot do with the rough weather? I hope he was able to maintain his composure, and not let anybody know he wasn't scared.

So very sorry to read about your Dad, and now your mom. Barb. Heck, I've been facing my own mortality lately. . . The reality of the numbers has apparently kicked in. . .
Glad the coloring and the libation cheered her up and got her in a better mood.

We are supposed to get some of Cindy, too. This is yet another reason I love winter!

Totally agree with you, Kelly, about the fool on the roads! Glad that your yearly boob squeeze this morning went well, and was less painful than anticipated. Watched the video. I loved Ricky Martin! I also loved John Wayne, Walter Brennan, and Dean Martin. This is from the movie Rio Bravo. They all starred in some really great westerns.

Marsha, Sunny, and Thiry, hope all is well with you guys.

By the way, I have a TERRIFIC family friendly series to recommend - HEARTLAND. It is about a family who owns a horse ranch, and "supposedly" takes place in Virginia. It is actually filmed in Canada in Alberta, and BC, and the scenery is spectacular! I am totally hooked! Have blown through 2 seasons worth in the last month. You can stream it on Netflix for free, or on Amazon with a Prime Subscription. Supposedly the UP channel on cable airs some similar content - all family friendly.

Have a good evening all!

She has a great sense of humor. First visit I told her I likely hung out with the Doc's while they were going through med school at Tulane and now probably teaching. I worked at the hospital up the road from the school.

Good golly, Lawhiskeyanna is still getting pounded.

Actually the newer machines aren't as bad as the past smash-o-grams, luv your name for it by the way, the compression is less and it is quicker. I can remember when I was younger and thinner; barely had enough to do it, so now I tell Doc that I'm overweight so that test goes quicker. She gives me a stern look and walks away trying not to laugh. She calls me her problem child. Youngsters have no respect HA.

I do hope this swelling is just an event and is quickly resolved for your Mom.

Good to hear Jas made it in okay. John went to a conference up in that area loved it.

Yikes Barb, for sure you all need a break, maybe that is why she was cantankerous lately.

Hope the outer bands are kind to all of you. Barb, Sharon, Sunny and Marsha have a good day, Marsha, hope things have quieted down for you.

We're getting the outer bands from Cindy, nothing like the flooding in the Gulf Coast. Likely some t-storms but over all we should be okay. If we could just get fools on the road to use their common sense.

Had my yearly boob squeeze this morning. Two months overdue due to bronchitis and travel and just plain forgot about scheduling it. To my surprise, called Tuesday, got in this morning.

Our local talk show played this this morning oh darn I thought I saved it. I'll go find it, memories from the past.

Expecting rough weather tonight. I HOPE NOT, burt ready.

Well, talked w/the Dr. yesterday about Dad. There are a few more things that well try that should help. So, Im hoping it gets him comfortable.

Meantime, looked @ Moms legs yesterday and they were very swollen. And she was a little short of breath. SOooooo, dang it, will be starting her on Lasix as well. Probably congestive heart failure. **SIGH** Just cant catch a break with these 2.

Thats about all the news thats fit to print.

Heres to a good Thursday.

Wednesday Jason left for Lake Geneva. Boo! Expecting severe weather tonight, so have to batten down the hatches.

Yesterday was a so-so day for Mom. Agitated but got her interested in coloring (plus a chocolate martooni), and all was right then with her world. PHEW.

Dad is just so scared. I have this hunch that his own mortality is smacking him in the face. Well, I surely get that. I just tried to reassure him that Ill be here for Him and Mom . . . always. He was settled a little bit more by the time I had to leave, fortunately.

Well praying theyre wrong about the severe weather. Fingers crossed.

Hugs and happy 1st official day of summer!

Kelly: Stay safe in the storm. I live in WI, but were expection severe weather tonight into tomorrow (great --- NOT!) Stay safe.

Here it is...Summer! Lazy, hazy days while we build an arc because a kayak will not hold up. That storm brewing in the Gulf will likely hit us too, but the rainfall will not be as heavy - 3 inches. The neighborhood decided to revive the block party, so hopefully Saturday it will have passed through. I will miss it since I'm going to a surprise birthday party for our daughter in law's Dads 80th and staying over. That way I can that second libation, haha.

Speaking of libations, son visited two locally owned small wineries recently and had some great reds and couple whites and rose shipped back. They only sell at the winery or through a wine club. He drinks more reds. One of the rose was a very pale that he said was very good. On top of his new found OCD (since his deployments) he has become a wine snob, to the point of letting his red breathe, etc.

Sharon I honestly thought about driving up to NY in August but three long road trips in 3 months has lost its luster so I think I'll take big bird up. Looks like I will not be in Nashville for the eclipse. Actually I don't think I want to be in the air during that time or even waiting for a flight. You are right, I wish we all could get together soon!

Let me get my act together, see you all at 3.

Whoot Whoo Sharon!!!

Come on down, love to have you visit! Thanks for the tip on the strawberries but you know where my mind was when I read this post, I thought you said vodka, not viola - you know, that's not a bad idea though.

Here's to coming out of the Doc's office empty handed Sharon!

Oh dang, a neighbor caught a rainbow by us a couple of weeks ago but I saved it wrong if I can figure out how to fix it I'll share it. I can't find one of the double rainbow pics. We have some great photographers and people in the right place at the right time in our little community.

This is the view from my front porch.

Morning Ladies.

Quick drive-by - getting ready to go to Dr to have BP checked, and get refill for prescription if necessary. I hope not.

I agree with you, Kelly. It is so different and nice out this morning!!! Humidity has dropped by about 20 points! Ahhhhhh.

I have had the privilege of seeing a double rainbow several times, and I am always in awe. I am glad to read that your Dad's wounds are healing, I'm sure that is helping him to feel better, and is a good sign. Sorry to hear about the laxidasical care and leaving your mom and dad stranded. Good for you leaving a scathing message, and documenting it all!

I too wish Jas safe travels tomorrow. Boy, what a rough job! Resort town again!

Thriy agree with Kelly. I would have told that gal to ask the CEO what the meeting was about. Just be doubly or triply sure that EVERYTHING you do is objective, verifiable, and backed by company policy or state law. I wouldn't trust those people as far as I could throw any of 'em - especially in today's business climate.

Marsha and Sunny hope you are both doing well, and the weather has modified for you, too! Sunny hope you are enjoying your company.

Well off to doctor. See you all later for my Tuesday Tip! emoticon

It is so differently nice out this morning!!!

Wow those were some storms Barb, that is wonderful you got a double rainbow!!! A couple of years ago we were treated to a few of them. Good to hear your Dad's wounds are healing, I'm sure that is putting some peace back in his mind. They take awhile to heal for sure.

Safe travels to Jas tomorrow, quick trip though. Is he headed to another "resort" town? Not that he'll be gone long enough to enjoy it.

Thriy I would have told that gal to ask the CEO what the meeting was about. I would have hesitated to send an email, guess that is one part of new tech that I am not comfortable with. For sure confidentiality is key to any job, especially when it involves someone who relishes passing info like that.

Marsha, Sharon and Sunny hope the weather is great where you are!

Well I should take advantage of the no humidity and do something constructive so will see you all at 3! Hugs and Prayers

Tuesday The day was cooler than it has been but felt nice. Sunny till about 3 pm when it just got very dark and then started to pour. Just torrential. It lasted a couple hours. Then the sun came out again only to have another downpour around 5 pm. At about 7 pm the sun peeked out, but it was still raining. There was the most brilliant double rainbow. It was gorgeous. I have never seen a double rainbow before!

Mom and Dad did pretty well. Mom was not in the best mood but cheered up a bit by the time I was leaving.

The Hospice Nurse came and changed Dads bandages on his legs. The wounds are healing. He felt comfortable. I was pleased that the wounds looked as good as they did.

Thats about all the news thats fit to print. Jas goes out of town on Wednesday, so will get ready for that. Hes out till Friday.

Thiry: Wow! So glad you werent directly impacted by that storm and hope that the rest of the customers are restored soon. Its tough!

Oh my, well, if that person was passing on confidential information she deserves to be let go. I dont wish others ill, but I take the responsibility for confidentiality very seriously! I remember in a very sensitive position I had when I worked home health care, the supervisor stressed that we needed to be mindful of what we said, even in the elevator. I think that was wise advice.

Sharon, Sunny, Kelly and Marsha: Hope all is well. Catch up w/yall later.

Hugs and prayers for our soldiers, families and our country.

See yall @ 3 pm.

BARB Im so glad you had a good time with your parents for Fathers day and definitely glad to hear that the staff were making sure your dad had his oxygen yesterday. Yes, they probably were expecting congratulations for making sure your dad had his oxygen but that shouldnt be the deciding factor for making sure he has his oxygen on, it should just be second nature by this time.

KELLY Yes it is amazing that there wasnt more damage and I havent heard of any deaths related to the storm either. I did hear this morning that there were 2 confirmed tornado touchdowns, both in the Bellevue are with one near Offutt Airforce Base and the other in the city of Bellevue. I agree that the food should have stayed frozen during the time that the electricity was off especially since most of the time was overnight and Im sure that there wasnt people getting into them like there would have been during the daytime hours. I just wish we could have purchased some of that chicken and put it in the freezer but since I had just purchased groceries we didnt have enough room in the refrigerator or freezer at this time to do that. Yes it has been interesting walking around the vendor booths and seeing all the stuff that you can purchase. One really interesting thing was a baseball glove chair. Yes, boys and their trains as well as all the family connections to the railroad in all our pasts. DH was able to climb the stairs up to the window and look into the engineer space of the locomotive. He would have loved to get inside and look around more but that wasnt being allowed. Im glad you made it safely through the storms in your area.

SHARON, SUNNY, and MARSHA hope all is well for all of you and that you have a wonderful week.

Well as of this morning there were still over 8,000 customers still without power from the storms Friday evening. The news this morning while I was getting ready for work did indicate that there were 2 confirmed tornadoes in the Bellevue area. The weather has been hot and dry the last couple days but they are predicting possible storms Wednesday and Friday this week.

Oh was it an interesting day at work today. It started out as usual with my printing and recording the new authorizations that I had received over the weekend. At one point the SA stopped by each of our desks to let us know that she is now our official boss as she is now on the NECC payroll. A little while later she came by my desk again and whispered in my ear that the CEO wanted to speak with me. My first thoughts were that maybe she wanted to address the situation regarding my expense reimbursement from the San Diego trip but I quickly found out differently. I was asked if I had any knowledge of confidential information going around the office. I told her about the time that the HR Director (the Snitch) stopped by my desk and told me that she was going to be letting an employee go because she had given expired medications to a special needs child. She then went on to tell me that after doing that she would be going to one of the other sites to let another employee there go. She didnt go into the specifics on that one but did say that the person doesnt drive so she would be arranging a cab to take her home so she wouldnt be sitting around the center waiting for a ride. The CEO asked me to type this information up in an email and send it to her which I did. A little while later I stepped into the SAs office to talk to her about an email that she forwarded to me and was told to close the door. She asked me how things went in the CEOs office and I told her I just said what I heard. She looked at me and said about Tasha and I said no it was about Nichole. So, I take it I was being asked if I had any knowledge about the snitch passing confidential information about Tasha and I introduced information about other confidential information being passed around the office. It may be very interesting to see how all this plays out in the next few days or so as I dont think this is the first time the snitch has done something like this.

Well, Id better close down and head to bed.

Have a great week.
Thiry

Monday Was happy we got to spend Fathers Day w/Dad (and Mom). Dad appeared a little more comfortable. AND he had his oxygen. Imagine! It was a more relaxed visit, thank goodness.

Going to be a busy week as Jas goes out of town Wednesday thru Friday. So had a few things to get wrapped up before then. .

Gorgeous weather! Partly sunny and a nice breeze, in the 70s. Perfect!

Thiry: I aim to make sure that the Exec. Dir. handles this so it doesnt happen again. Had no less than 3 aides come up to me yesterday and comment, Did you notice that your Dad has his oxygen? Well, not sure if they were expecting congratulations, but I just indicated I did and thats good. Sheesh.

Wonderful that the situation was fixed and the SA complimented you! Way to go.

Glad you and DH were safe in those storms/tornadoes. PHEW.

Kelly: Yes, that is exactly why I left the msg. w/the Executive Dir. I fear totally for those who have nobody advocating for them and that is the majority of that facilitys residents. **SIGH**

Glad you were safe in the storms, too.

Sunny, Sharon, Marsha: Hope you had a good Sunday.

Hugs and prayers for our soldiers, families and our country.

See yall @ 3 pm.

Wow Thiry, considering those storms it is great to hear there wasn't more damage. I give the store credit to cook and sell. Maybe they will realize the store is too hot because food should stay cold for longer than that when properly refrigerated.

That sounds like so much fun surrounding the CWS! Funny how so many of us have family connections to the railroad! There is something about boys and trains isn't there? Was hubby able to get up and explore the inside?

I nearly fell out of my chair too when I read you got a compliment Thiry!

Here's to a good day for your folks Barb and that exec Dir gets on board to correct patient care. I can only imagine what is happening to those who don't have anyone looking out for them.

Enjoy your family Sunny, check in as you can.

Marsha, Sharon and Thiry have a great week too.

Hope everyone had a good day yesterday and no further crazy weather issues. It stormed quite hard yesterday afternoon for a couple of hours. Of course I was driving through it, it started after I hit the road otherwise would have waited it out, sure didn't look like it was ready to open up when I left. Their reno looks awesome, it's 99% completed. She and her Dad are building floating shelves for the kitchen.. Her Dad is a master carpenter by hobby.

Hugs and Prayers, will see you all at 3 for tea. I have a meeting at the Highway Patrol tonight.

BARB Sorry to hear about your dads confusion. Hopefully you can figure something out to help with this. Glad your mom liked the martini and showed her former spark. Good to hear that your mom had a better day Glad you got to go out for supper. Sorry to hear about the situation with your parents at the facility. I would have been livid also. Hopefully the executive director takes the appropriate steps to make sure that it doesnt happen again.

KELLY Glad you didnt wet yourself when the phone rang. I hope you had a good time with your son.

SHARON We did notice that our electricity must have flashed while we were out as we need to reset some of the clocks here in the apartment. I had plans for a nice meal at home for DH for fathers day but he wanted to go to Outback so thats what we did.

SUNNY Thank you. Yes it took a lot but I managed to keep quiet and not say anything during about the mileage.

MARSHA Glad your DS and DIL made it home safe and glad they are able to have a day to relax before the work week begins

Adding my happy father's day wishes to all the fathers also.

Friday was another busy but interesting day at work. On Wednesday or Thursday I received a call from the state worker for one of the families. The state found that they had made a mistake and this family was paying co-payments to both the daycare facilities that they used. They were calling to see if I would have a problem refunding the parents the copay they had paid to the center. I said I wouldnt as long as I received the appropriate paperwork to bill and collect the copay that I would be refunding. Friday morning I received an Explanation of Payments showing the state would be depositing money in the centers account for the months of co-payments that the mom had paid. So, I didnt even need to file any paperwork to get the payments. I passed this information on to the SA and DOFS as well as information on errors that have been going on with the billing at the centers that I am just now figuring out. A little while later the SA stopped by my desk and talked to me about the situation. She actually ended up giving me a complement. I just about needed to be picked up off the floor after her complement. After work I walked around the booths at the CWS before heading home. It was really hot and by the time I got back to my car I felt like I had been through a workout. I headed to the store to get groceries as DH said there were a few things needed and figured it would cost a lot less if I picked up the stuff while he was still at work

Yesterday DH and I went back downtown so he could walk around and see the steam locomotive. We also walked around the booths again so he could look see some of the stuff and got some home made ice cream. After being there for a couple hours we started feeling some sprinkles so decided it was time to leave as I didnt want to get soaked again if it started raining again. On our way back to the car we saw a place that was selling smoked turkey legs so we got some then stopped by the store to get DH some potato salad. At this time we found out that there was a tornado warning in the area involving Wal-Mart (where DH works) and that the electricity had gone out and they werent able to get it back on until 11 am Saturday morning so there werent any fresh salads and most of the frozen meats were being cooked up and sold at a discount price. Tonight when DH and I went out for supper we found out that there had been a tornado touchdown in the Bellevue area so that would explain a lot of the major damage I have seen on the news yesterday morning. Other than that I have heard that the winds were straight line winds.

Have a great week.

Kelly: Let's just say I was MIghty Mouth on Steroids!!! GRRRRrrr. Nope, never heard from the director, but the msg. is recorded AND I documented it. Going shortly to see Mom & Dad. Bringing enough Limoncello Martooni for Jas, me, and Mom (Dad doesn't care for it). HA at least that'll smooth out the afternoon, ya think!

Adding my best wishes to all you Dads as well.

I stopped by yesterday morning before heading for the group monthly breakfast grazing, looks like I didn't hit post. Of course if I don't come directly to the team page, it doesn't show all the chatter. So I thought everyone was just out enjoying the humidity.

Mighty Mouse strikes again! Take it the director never called you back. With all my heart, hope they are having a good day today, martooni or not! Hey you two should keep the date night thing, my kids do it at their young age, we didn't start until we were older and it made a difference, whether it be breakfast, lunch or dinner or just going to Sonic, if we stopped doing it I missed it and would start it back up again.

Whoa Thiry those were some big winds that blew through. So happy that you all were able to at least get out of it and all is "well" in the communities. Flat out scary! They were talking about it last night during the LSU game, they were amazed they were able get the fireworks off. Guess they were back at their hotel since they weren't in the broadcast booth and were startled when they went off! I can imagine.

I had the same thoughts on the glaze drizzle, and I will soon try the cake recipe! Clever Sunny and can't wait to see if he got the hint and makes a home delivery. I know he will enjoy the goodies. Oh, how do you sweet and mop the floor Sunny? Do you use raw sugar or stevia? HaHa

Marsha, I have never had a good experience (bordering on sour) with anything rhubarb so gave up years ago; that torte sounds so good and something unexpected if it showed up around here. I would have loved to have met your kids while they were in Nashville! Sounds like they had a wonderful honeymoon trip. I can't wait to hear what the morning rush was all about.

Sharon good thing there is room in the freezer for this huge jug of vodka! They say it runs better if it is full so guess it will be doing double duty.
Anything you make your hubs will enjoy and that is sad that her folks don't like to share. I have family members like that too, harder when it is your son. Enjoy the day anyway!

This is so funny!!! I'm sitting here reading your posts and looking at John's pictureno sooner said to him - see what you're missing? The phone rang! If I had had to pee I would have wet my jammies, I was laughing so hard I could barely talk. It was my son, calling to invite me over for a last minute cookout. They are still putting their newly renovated kitchen back together so they are keeping it simple. Odd though, there are no special brunches or big deals for Dads outside the home...

This is the first weekend that he hasn't had to travel on a Sunday in a month. He has changed jobs still again, hopefully this one keeps his attention longer. He is working with a maritime shipping company out of SanFran. John used to sail in and out of there to Nam. They sustained damage and were dry docked for repairs in Seattle for 3 weeks so I went out. That was our honeymoon. He was supposed to sail the day after our wedding but they literally two days before found a slot for him to do the Gitmo supply runs so we had a few days instead. My heart goes out to the crew of our Navy ship and the Merchant ship, that collided the other day, wow,

I'll be lakeside at 3, sippin' sumthin for sure so everyone and your families have a great rest of the day. Hugs and Prayers

Sunday Happy Fathers Day to all you Fathers out there!

Was concerned when I arrived for my visit to Mom and Dad yesterday. Dad was in the dining room w/o oxygen and Mom wasnt there either. Quickly asked Dad what was going on. Mom was sleeping when they took him out to the dining room and didnt wake Mom up. Hurried back to the room to make sure Mom was all right. She was just sleepy. Got the oxygen concentrator to Dad and hooked him up. I . . . was . . . livid. I left a msg. w/the exec. Director about the situation and indicated that I do not expect this to ever happen again. . . EVER! Dad was comfortable once the oxygen was set up.

Got back to Mom. She woke up and in a good mood. Asked her if she wanted to go back to the dining room to eat. No. She didnt so I stayed there with her and just let her talk awhile. I made sure she was safe and got Dad back to the room and asked that Moms lunch be brought to the room. She ate every speck of it. **SIGH**

I stayed w/Mom till she was finished w/her lunch and made sure they were BOTH safe. Lord have mercy.

Jason and I went out to supper last night and that was nice. Getting spoiled w/that.

Heres to a wonderful Sunday. Blessings.

Happy Fathers Day to all Fathers out there in sparkland.

Sharon: Yes, I hope Dad is better today. Like fitting puzzle pieces together!!! YUP . . . . The Limoncello Martooni . . . a motivator! BWAHAHAHA Hey, whatever it takes!

Gotta agree . . . . sneaky, sneaky, sneaky giving the ice cream maker than the recipe for the lemon ice cream! LOL

That was my idea as well . . . . glaze 1 stick butter (yeah, gotta have the buttah!), 4 oz. Lioncello and 1 cup sugar. Reduce on the stove. The poke holes in the cake. . . drizzle all over! I do that with my rum cake and glaze.

Marsha: HA. . . . DH always says, I told you about that! Yup . . . . did I respond?? NOPE That means either you didnt tell me the plans, or I didnt hear them!

Hope you have a good get together.

Kelly, Sunny, Thiry: Have a great Sunday!

Wishing everyone a Happy Father's Day!

Off to church and the MIL's house. DH wants to leave
after church, first thing. Not sure what the rush is but
I did make a big rhubarb torte and there will be other
family there for a late lunch. Always nice to know what
is going on but I am sure DH will fill me in when we are
driving.

Late drive-by.

Thiry, glad to hear you andDH made it home safe and sound, and there was no damage in your area, and you didn't lose power!

Barb, glad Dad seemed to be doing a little better, and mom was in a good mood. Probably on her best behavior so she could have another Limoncello martini! emoticon Hope you and Jas had a nice dinner out. Did you go back to that new place you found again?

Sunny, our son, and me, are the same way - love anything lemon. I love a good lemon tart with powdered sugar sprinkled over the top. You are one " sneaky" mom giving that ice cream maker and the recipe hoping to get some. Sounds like something I would do! emoticon
I would do a Limoncello glaze and poke lotsa holes in the cake. All of your posts in the Summer Sizzle thread sound delicious!

Kelly, liked your story about the Limoncello! Vodka keeps well in the freezer too! Thanks for starting up the Whatcha Got Cookin' thread again. Great idea to keep them separated.

Marsha, glad DS and wife made it back safely. Hope you get some relaxation in this weekend for you, too. If you're like me, you'll be doting on DS while he's there!

Well got some of my DH favorite foods on tap for Father's Day tomorrow. I hope he enjoys them. Would love if DS would be able to come and join us, but I doubt it as the in-laws have been there.

Sleep tight and sweet dreams y'all! emoticon

Sounds like they had a nice trip and it is good to have a day of rest before heading back to work.

Our Son loves anything lemon but it has to be tart. I do think he would like this. He loves lemon ice cream but it is hard to find. Culvers has Lemon Ice which tastes more like frozen lemonade. Thus, we got him an Ice Cream Freezer for his BD and I am giving him my Mom's recipe for Lemon Ice Cream. Hopefully this time next week, he will share some Lemon Ice Cream with us. hehehe

I am off to sweet and mop the kitchen.

Love you all, Sunny

I will have to try this if I can find the ingredients.

DS and DIL are home from SC and the wedding
they attended. They had thought to get home tomorrow
but drove all the way through. They will be here this
afternoon to pick up their cats and have a day to rest
before she goes to work on Monday.
They went to Nashville, TN, visited North Carolina and
saw some nice scenery. I think you could call this their
honeymoon since they didn't go anywhere last fall.
Have a special Saturday!

Well, might be good but not appropriate for this cake as we are taking it to SS and hope to have a piece left over to take to Joshua.

I did find a Lemoncello cake recipe.

So glad your Marooni was a hit with Mom, Barb. emoticon LOL Also, glad to hear your Dad is doing better. Sounds like it must have been the mediation. Mercy!

Thiry, so glad you and DH are OK. That was some storm. We had thunderstorms the same night but it didn't hit until 1 am and we lost power around 1:30. Ugh. No major damage but spent part of the next day picking up limbs in the yard.

Sharon, headed over to read your Friday Blog. I always look forward to reading it.

Kelly, I loved your tale of the limoncello. Like I said, we have a bottle in the freezer but have never used it. Thanks for the martini recipe. Can't wait to try it.

I have a question. I just finished making a Tart Lemon Drizzle Cake for our Son's BD. I was thinking it might have been good to add the limoncello to the cake. Have any of you used it in baking? Just wondering. My cake is almost cool so off to make the drizzle.

I was just getting my clothes and the TV in the bedroom was on the weather channel. They were showing that during the storms last night that Fremont (30 minute drive) had 110 mph winds, Omaha 104 mph, Beatrice (1-1.5 hour drive) 100 mph winds and Lincoln (1 hour drive) 88mph winds. No wonder there are a lot of trees down and some major wind damage from last nights storms.

Quick check in. Last night i picked DH up when he got off work and we headed downtown to walk around the CWS booths and watch the fireworks but when we got downtown, parked and started to walk towards the stadium it started raining and quickly got worse. We had walked about 3.5-4 blocks from the car so by the time we were able to get back to the car we were both drenched. I pulled a towel out of my gym bag that I always keep in the car to wipe myself off a little then put it on the seat for DH to sit on. The wind was blowing so hard as we were trying to get back to the car that we were both having trouble seeing as the rain was being blown into our faces.

As we were driving home we had flooded streets and downed trees. We heard on the radio that there were around 70,000 customers without electricity in the Omaha/council Bluffs, IA area (this morning there are still 40,000+ without power). We have no damage here at the apartment but this morning on the news they are showing some really bad damage in the area (Bellevue and Plattsmouth areas), even one area where a good portion of the housed in that are were damaged. I did hear that the fireworks did go off last night so after all our adventures we still missed them. I have to wonder how many people were there to see them going off.

Well, I want to try to go for a walk around at least part of the lake this morning while it is still cooler as i haven't walked at the lake since getting home from the wedding because of it being too hot and humid. DH also wants go back downtown as they have a huge steam locomotive there on display that he would like to see since his family used to work for the railroads.

I'll catch up with all of you more later.

Have a great day.
Thiry

Saturday bit cooler yesterday. Lake breeze. Nice. Warm but not as humid.

Dad seemed a little clearer today. Switched up his medications. And well see what the TENS unit does for his back. Hes like trying to fit puzzle pieces together.

Mom had a pretty good day. Grateful!

No real plans except going out to dinner tonight after we visit Mom and Dad. That will be nice. Getting to be a habit! Thats all right by me!

Heres to a great Saturday.

Kelly, Sharon, Sunny, Thiry, Marsha: Catch up w/y'all later.

Hugs and prayers for our soldiers, families and our country.

See y'all @ 3 pm.

PS. Bringing a Limoncello martini to Mom . . . per her request1

Agreed...Sharon you must've seen me as i waddled on through. Luved it!

Barb, I meant to mention this morning that he may be having a reaction to either the pain med or any other med combo. Here's to TENS working its magic. Your Mom tickles me so much, now I have to go invest in some Limoncello and wodka, thinking for tonight when it cools down enough to sit outside! Takes too long to make my own.

Sharon: Your Happy Hour blog is the best yet . . . you beet your personal best!

I think Dad was more alert today than he has been in about a week.

OMG . . . the Limoncello Martooni is a HIT. In all her glory, Mom said, "Bring this again tomorrow!" YES MA'AM! It was good to see her w/a little of her former spark!!!

Sunny: After seeing DAd today, I think it IS the pain meds, so we're starting from ground zero again with the TENS unit, see how that works and go from there.
