Tuesday – well, snowed off and on all night. Jason is probably going to work from home. Hasn’t made up his mind yet. HOPE SO! Well, woke up to 9 in. of snow. Yup. Working from home.

The driveway just got cleared and the plow went by (of course). Left a pile on the apron of the drive to clear AND knocked off 3 mailboxes, including ours. Fortunately, after calling the city, the mailboxes were replaced. Sheesh! Just carelessness.

Otherwise, the mission of the day is just staying warm!

Have a terrific Tuesday.

Thiry: Thankfully the mailbox was put up within hrs. of the call.

I HOPE there are no more of those nasties in your apartment. So disgusting!

Good luck with your busy week.

Kelly: Oh boy. Lotsa snow. Could do without it. Then Mr. Plowman graces us w/the snowpile of snow/ice like Mt. Everest. The snow blower did it’s magic, thank goodness.

Definitely going NOWHERE.

Stay safe and warm!

Sharon, Sunny: Hope all is well in your neck of the woods.

HUGS and prayers for our soldiers, families and our country.

See y’all @ 3 pm for something WARM!

And the snow plays on and on and on...we won't get a whole lot though, maybe 5 inches. It's moving slower than expected. Looks a bit like a snow globe out. And I am glad I live on the sunny side of the street so I won't have to shovel the drive, just sweep off the steps and deice them. Ah the joys of all wheel drive.

Thiry, I hope too that's the end of the mess from your neighbors. Maybe hubs should make the appt a few weeks out so he can request the time in advance. Oh sure, haha.

Sharon bet the house smells good with your newest kitchen toy. I have seriously considered adding an outlet to the garage because I have shelves that are high enough at the top of the stairway into the garage that I could use that to cook on. Not only is the garage a good fridge but with enough snow against a door, makes a good bevies fridge too. Wish I could find that picture. You've seen this before...

For sure sumthin at 3, not going anywhere.

Hugs and Prayers, be safe and warm.

BARB – I think he has been on the phone almost nonstop since getting it and setting it up. Of course, he was without a phone most of last week as he did something to his phone and it wouldn’t charge or turn on. So, I think he is making up for lost time with the new one. Good to hear that Jason is able to work from home tomorrow. I hope the city gets your mail box repaired soon for you.

KELLY – I don’t think he has gotten an appointment for it as or yet as he didn’t have a phone last week and probably didn’t think about it today at work, so I’ll have to remind him to get an appointment with the doctor to get it checked out. Cold temps here also but no snow in the forecast although it was snowing lightly when I left to head to Wal-Mart to work the tax kiosk tonight. We really didn’t get anything with the snow again.

SHARON – No new news on the hand and when he does call for an appointment it will probably have to be in about 3 weeks as the work schedule is done, and they don’t like to make changes once it is done.

SUNNY – I hope all is well in your life and that you are doing well.

Well yesterday was a busy day as I was working on getting the living room straightened out. I have most of the furniture back in place and worked on the plants, arranging them and cleaning out dead leaves then watering them. I still have bags of clothes on the love seat that I haven’t gotten put away yet. Of course, it is taking a little longer putting the clothes back as I am running them through the dryer again just as a precaution to make sure that there aren’t any more of those little bugs hanging around. I did find my dress pants today which is a good thing as last week I only had one pair of dress pants that I had found so I was washing them every night to have them ready to wear the next day.

I had today off for MLK day. It was a busy day as I started the day with cleaning the bathroom then taking a shower before I left to run some errands. I went to Sam’s club to get TP and a few other things then went to the JH office to pick up my first paycheck from them and took it to the bank to pay on the credit card bill since we ended up putting all the car repairs on it last month. I then headed to Wal-Mart to pick up DH meds and a couple things that I forgot/couldn’t find while at Sam’s. I then headed home, took the groceries in and put them away then worked on running more clothes through the dryer and putting them away. Of course, then I had to get ready to head to the store to work the tax kiosk. I had barely gotten here when the person showed up to the Wal-Mart/JH kiosk audit. She asked me a couple questions, made a bunch of notes and took a couple pictures then told me that JH will get the results of the audit and they can let me know them. While I was sitting there I got a text from the SA at NECC letting me know that OPS has called classes tomorrow due to extreme wind chill temperatures, so I have gotten my 4-day weekend.

Tomorrow I will probably work on getting more of the clothes run through the dryer and put away as well as trying to get some work done on our finances so I can get the information I need to do our taxes.

Have a great day
Thiry

Hi All!

Glad to read that you had a nice weekend, Barb, with the treat of going out to breakfast! It's nice Jas has the option of working from home when the weather is bad.

Marsha, glad to read your hubby is doing much better - even if he is a little grumpy. . .

Thiry, any more news on your DH and what's going on with the hands?

Sunny, sorry the treadmill deal fell through. . .

Well, I broke out the Xmas present from DS and DIL - my Insta Pot, and tried my hand at making homemade chicken stock. We'll see how it turns out tomorrow when I de-fat it. Got it out in the "big refrigerator" - our garage. Just one of the many reasons I like winter. emoticon

Kelly, hope you stay warm and safe. Any word from your sis about her clothes?

Have a good evening all. emoticon

Yikes Barb! Jas may very well get to liking working from home if this keeps up...
We are supposed to get maybe 2" overnight, with a replay of the lowwwww temps from last week.

Marsha, how's hubby doing?

Thiry when is your hubby seeing the Doc about his hand?

Sharon and Sunny anything new with you two? Did you get a lead on a new treatmill?

Nothing new or exciting around here. Please all of you take it easy with shoveling and everything else related to these storms.

Hugs and Prayers all around.

Monday – well not a good weather day. From 6-9 in. due. Looks like Jason will be working from home tomorrow (he has today off for MLK Day – thank goodness!) The fun has begun!

So . . . . . guess exercise is going to involve snow and a shovel.

Unfortunately our mail box was a casualty of the snow plow. Called the city and they're supposed to take care of the problem. We'll see when that happens!

Sunday – Continues cold! But Jas and I are headed out to breakfast. Lucky me! So spoiled.

Had a relatively lazy day. I was ready for that! Cold, so had a fire in the fire place as well. That kept me warm and cozy.

Have a blessed Sunday!

Thiry: Well, wishing your DH much luck with the hand tremors.

Good luck w/the new phone.

Sharon, Sunny, Marsha: Hope it’s a blessed Sunday!

BARB – yes, it has been a busy week at work. We are hoping that the doctor can help with the hand tremors although the doctor at the walk-in clinic said that if it what he thinks sometimes the medication side effects can be worse than dealing with the tremors. So, we will just have to see what happens. Good to hear that John and Karlee are doing all right. Sorry to hear about John’s canker sores. I was glad to get the day off from my regular job Thursday. I wish thing would have worked out to have Friday off also but it didn’t so I had to return to the job then. Good to hear that Jason’s ultrasound went well.

KELLY – Thank you, I definitely plan to enjoy the weekend. It sounds like your Friday weather was similar to what we had here on Thursday as we didn’t get much snow even though 2-4 inches was the prediction. That is quit the situation with your sister leaving without her clothes. Happy anniversary to you and John. I had a glass of wine for your anniversary tonight after we got home.

SHARON – thank you, we didn’t get the 5-day weekend as the snow didn’t get as bad as was predicted here anyway.

SUNNY – Good to hear that you are getting your biking in. Sorry to hear about the treadmill going down. Too bad you don’t live closer to me as the gym I go to has replace several of their treadmills and are selling the old ones. I don’t know how much they are asking but it might have been a chance for you to get one within your price range. Glad to hear that the doc didn’t find anything to worry about. Prayers that the news on the biopsy is good. I may have to see if I can find that movie and watch it. I haven’t heard of it, but it does sound interesting.

MARSHA – I hope that your DH is doing well and that you aren’t overdoing it while he is recovering from his procedure.

It has been a busy week between the 2 jobs, although the tax prep has been really slow so far. I did enjoy not having to go into the office on Thursday. The bad weather didn’t hit us as bad as was predicted and there wasn’t any snow here until about 8:30 Thursday morning. We only received a dusting of snow instead of the 2-4 inches predicted. I did have to work doing taxes Thursday but it was only for 4 hours. It was back to the office on Friday then to Wal-Mart to work the tax kiosk. Saturday I was scheduled to have a session with the trainer at 8 but didn’t hear my alarm so I didn’t wake up until 8:20 so I missed that as it was too late to go into the gym at that point. I worked the tax kiosk from 10-3 then came home and changed clothes. Dh and I went to get his new phone with the paperwork from the program to help with the phone to work with his hearing aids. The satellite store we went to sent us to a regular store as they said they would have to contact customer support to complete the transaction and that is more difficult on Saturdays so they thought it would be easier to go to a regular store instead. We got the new phone, a cover to protect it and a new car charger as they have changed the connections for the chargers. We were told that they are all supposed to be universal now instead of each company having a different style of connection for the chargers with the exception of the apple phones. We also got a setup to put into DH car (the hardware was on sale for $30.00, regular $100 and they are giving us a $30.00 credit on our phone bill) that will give him some of the same benefits as the uniconnect that I have in my car. There is also roadside assistance, drive monitoring (the salesman said his insurance gives him a discount on his insurance for having this) and when the account is set up on both our phones I will be notified if he ever has an accident. The salesman also said that the system includes discounts that can be used around town which he said helps pay for the cost of the program. We then stopped by the store and picked up a few things before heading home to fix supper and set up his phone.

Well better get to bed so I can get up for church in the morning.

Have a great day
Thiry

I wondered when I saw John's photo on FB. Happy Anniversary, Kelly and John.
emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Have you ever read the book or seen the movie "Tuesday with Morrie". Mich Albom wrote it about a man (named Morrie) who is slowly but surely loosing his battle with Lou Gehrig's Disease. Mich was really sad and Morrie noticed. Mich said he didn't know what he was going to do when Morrie was no longer there. Morrie told him "Death ends a life, not a relationship". What a profound statement!

It will all work out with the treadmill. We will find and get something just right for us.

Love you all, Sunny

I agree Sunny on looking for a more budget friendly one...

Hope everyone is having a quiet day.

Well, the storm is through, side roads are a bit dicey as are sections of the interstates. Got my Sis off to Birmingham to her daughters' but lard luv a duck!!! I'm out there for nearly an hour deicing her car door so she can get into the car to start it while loading up and help clear the wenders (yes I meant wenders). She gets in while I take the snow off the car and start scapeing the windshield and realize I needed a heavier coat so I went in. The 5 minutes it took for me to answer a call and get my other coat on she took off! I know those windows did not clear completely that quickly. Now, I'm home from lunch; walk into the bedroom and she left ALL HER CLOTHES here!!! GRRRRRRRR

For sure will have a generous sumthin sumthin in awhile (maybe sooner) Everyone join me, raise a glass or mug of whatever, today would have been our 50th Anniversary.

Hugs and stay warm and safe.

Good Morning, Team.

I have biked and have read my Sunday School lesson through once. Still need to read it again and take some notes.

Glad Jason did well with the ultrasound. When is his surgery?

I talked to the gentleman that has the Treadclimber. He is asking $1,000. for it and I don't blame him as new they are very pricey but it is definitely out of our budgeted amount. We will keep looking.

Do have a lovely weekend, Team.

Saturday – Cold! Expecting snow later on. That will add up to maybe 3 in. Not bad, just hope it’s not the heavy, wet stuff.

Jason did well w/the ultrasound yesterday. So glad of that.

Otherwise, going to stick close to home today. Both of us are tired and no need to go out today.

Have a great Saturday!

We didn't have much ice in our area but know there is sleet south of us. ugh...

I am enjoying being back on the bike.

Good that Jas is at home, I see he finally has a surgery date. May the time pass quickly, sure he wants it over with.

Thiry enjoy your long weekend!

Sharon those grands are so lucky you two are available, enjoy but take it easy yourself.

Sunny are you talking about the type that just elevates? They are fairly easy, seems like they have some that will add resistance to mimic climbing. I think if you can find a way to spend more than a quick test drive to decide. Does your bike have a resistance mode? Wow that machine sure lasted a long time though.

Marsha, hope hubby is taking it easy and on the mend. You take care though.

We're iced in at the moment, temps are just below freezing and dropping (it was warmer yesterday until the sun went down, luckily with those temps the rain that rolled in didn't affect anything) however before sunrise it was obvious mother nature was going to have her way with us. My sister was supposed to head out; she finally came to her senses. We'll see how it goes for tomorrow.

Sad about those mudslides, yikes, the pictures!

It's Friday, will have my RED on if I get out of my jammies. Oh this is hilarious, Sis has a robe that matches almost exactly my pj's. Mine are an older version but both were gifts from our kids. Matchy Matchy...

Well, stay warm and safe will see all you Lassies at 3. Hugs...and Prayers

Friday – Yesterday started out @ 55F. Unbelievable! Ended @ 20 degrees by bedtime. Wind chills much lower than that. The cold will continue through the weekend at least. Glad Jas works from home today as the roads are slick.

Made meatloaf for supper. Nothing says comfort like meatloaf! Warmed up the kitchen, too.

Have a great Friday. Remembering all those impacted by the horrible mudslides on CA.

TGIF!

Sharon: good luck baby sitting! Know you’ll have a good time w/the grandies!

Sunny: Good for you for getting the biking in. Haven’t tried a tread climber. So many models of treadmill now. Good luck w/researching ti.

Kelly and Thiry: Have a wonderful Friday.

Up early today, have had my coffee and headed to the sun room and to my bike.

Looking for a new treadmill. Thinking about a tread climber so was wondering if anyone had ever used one. It is a healthy investment so want it to be the right investment.

Take care and I will check in later.

Doc said everything looked good so looks like what they thought was a "slow leak" has sealed itself off. He did biopsy one area and will let me know.

All in all, just glad to have it behind me. I came home and slept most of the afternoon.

Up early and headed to the shower. I saw the GI doc yesterday and wouldn't you know, he had a cancellation for today so heading in to have the upper GI scope to see what is causing the "slow leak". I will check in later so do have a good day and know I will be in lala land but not for long.

Love you all, Sunny

Yippee, OPS just called off school for tomorrow so that means I don't have to get up and go to work in the morning. The thing is that the weather hasn't even started here yet. That's fine with me though, now the storm can stall over the area so school is called for Friday.

More later as I am at work so better look like I'm available to help someone with their taxes.

Wednesday – Well, surgery for Jas scheduled on 13 February. Going to be a long month! But he’ll be fine.

We’ll see what the weather does today. Yesterday it did get up to 40 and it was sunny. Felt warmish after the arctic blast! Then Thiursday the temps plummet. Not arctic, though.

Ok, here’s to a wonderful Wednesday.

HUGS

Marsha: glad to see that DH is home. That's wonderful news! Prayers continue. Hope you get some time to breathe!

Kelly, Sharon, Sunny, Thiry: Hope it's a wonderful Wednesday!

Hugs and prayers for our soldiers, families and our country.

See y'all @ 3 pm.

Good afternoon. I have biked and DH was walking on the treadmill when it just quit on him. I think it is definitely time for a new treadmill. It is over 20 years old so we definitely have gotten our use out of it. We have had it 20 years and it was used when we got it. Guess we will be shopping for a new treadmill soon. I will keep an eye on the ad's in the paper as that is where I got my last one.

Spent the afternoon cutting out "Girl's Day" supplies.

It is our new mission project this year and I am so excited about it.

Having left over chili for dinner tonight.

I am off to read some e-mails as I am so far behind.

Hi ladies!

Quiet day here today while recovering from yesterday's plumbing issues and all.

Hope things went well with Jason's appointment today, and nice that he can work from home.
Glad Clara is better, too. How're John & SO doing?

Kelly so very sorry to hear about your MIL, and prayers gone up for her. Lots of crap going around that's for sure, and with all the upper respiratory stuff it's hard. Glad she is getting the right care where she is.

Thiry, hope you get that 5 day weekend. You could use a break. Prayers for DH, and the hand tremors.

Marsha, hugs and prayers for both you and DH! Glad he had the stent successfully placed. Even though it's moderately routine these days so much can happen, but I hope that now it's done he will be feeling better once he is recovered from the procedure.

That's about it from my little corner of the world. Enjoy your evening!

MARSHA- prayers for you and your DH.

BARB- we have the same weather here, getting near 50 today and tomorrow, the drastic drop is to happen Thursday with a high of 16. We have a winter storm watch from tomorrow evening into Thursday. We are all hoping it is enough to have the school district call off classes Thursday as if the do we don't have work. Also, hoping it lingers into Friday as we have MLK holiday Monday so 2 snow days would give us a 5 day weekend.

More layer as I need to get back.

Should go home this afternoon.

BARB – Yes, that work routine seems to come around every week doesn’t it. Hopefully the estate stuff goes quickly for you. Seeing that light at the end of the tunnel has to feel good. Yes, it was a busy weekend. We had to get some of the furniture back into place, so we could actually begin to live a somewhat normal life. It is going to take longer to get the stuff back into place as I am not going to wear myself to a frazzle to get it done and then of course there is the fact that I am leaving the apartment at 6:30 am and returning around 9:30 pm so I don’t have a lot of time to be putting the stuff back into place. Saturday evenings and Sundays are going to be the days to work on getting the place back in shape. The hand shaking has been going on for quite some time, but he has never mentioned it to the doctor, but it is getting to the point where he can’t hardly pick up a drink without spilling it. He even had trouble with his food at the restaurant on Sunday.

KELLY – I never knew that peroxide would clear a clogged drain. I will have to mention that to DH so when our tub drains slowly he can maybe try that to clear it. Yes, it was a really busy weekend and we are definitely praying that the bugaboos are gone for good. We have purchased some powder that helps to kill those bugs so as we are putting things back in place we are dusting the areas with the powder to help insure that they are gone. Prayers that your MIL recovers from the pneumonia quickly.

SHARON – It sounds like you had another wonderful day with the grands as usual. Your meal sounds so wonderful too and the cake sounds really interesting. Glad you were able to get the clog cleared out. Yes, so far it is going well but will be better when I start getting more customers as 4 hours sitting there waiting for someone to come by gets really boring.

SUNNY – I hope all is well for you.

MARSHA – I’m sure that you are busy as usual. Hope that all is going well for you.

OMG what a first day back to work at the office. As I was getting ready to go to work I had the news on and the road report stated that the North Freeway was closed at the Hamilton exit due to a shooting. DH asked if that was going to affect my drive to work. I said yes as I take the North Freeway, sometimes getting off at Cumming (exit just before Hamilton) and sometimes if that exit is really busy I continue to the Hamilton exit to get to work. I ended up taking the interstate on to the 14th street exit and then had to figure out how to get to the office from there. When I got there the first thing I did was to record, print and work on recording the authorizations that have been posted since I was last in the office on 12/21. One site had 64 new authorizations just for that site as for some reason the state decided to change the rate that I charge them on 12/22/17. This means that I have to file an extra claim for each child, one for 12/1-12/21/17 and one for 12/22/17 as that was the last day for the sites before the Christmas holiday break. After the SA got there she told me that I needed to get together with the part timer as she had her work on the stuff on Thursday and Friday while she was there to help me to get the information I needed to be able to file all my claims. This was so frustrating as I would go to do something and be informed that she had done it. I did recheck the hours that she recorded in the attendance calendars and found that she had made a few mistakes on some of them. She was checking the CACFP information so when I took the count to the gal that needs it I told her that I wasn’t going to ensure that the numbers were correct as I myself haven’t checked the last of the CACFP information. I got all the CACFP information into the website except for the expenses as I haven’t gotten that yet. I did get one of the Title XX claims filed, the claims printed, and the claim spreadsheet saved and printed. Tomorrow I hope to finish filing the TXX claims and complete the CACFP to get that all out of the way. The one site is also ready to do the parent billing also. The site director was hoping that I could have done that today, so she could get the statements to the parents starting tomorrow but that isn’t going to happen. After I left the office I headed to Walmart to work the tax kiosk. It was a long 4 hours as I didn’t have anyone there to occupy the evening. I did have one person stop and ask a couple questions.

Well, I need to get the laundry changed so I have pants to wear tomorrow as I still haven’t found the bag with all my dress pants, so I am washing the one pair that I have and wearing them every day right now.

Have a great day
Thiry

Yea on Clara going back to work! Magic of Mom.

That was some belated private birthday party you gave your grandson, I know he loved every single minute of it. Oh, I've become a fan of Turkey Hill.

Good you got that clog begone, I hear you about these newer plungers. Wonder what was in there or how far back that clog was. It's gone and maybe some follow up declogger with wearing hazmat is in order. My bathroom sink ran really slow the first few years we lived there, I knocked over an open bottle of peroxide, figured what the heck pour what's left. Do you know that took care of whatever it was lodged in there, don't know how long it took because I didn't keep an eye on it. Oh no, she's got a bottle of peroxide ... run!

Thiry you had quite a weekend and I hope you have the bugaboos out of there!

I don't know all the details, quick call while I was out to let me know that my mother in law was admitted to the hospital yesterday with pneumonia. I'm sure I will hear something during UofAla halftime, niece goes to UofA. Meanwhile, go Dawgs!

Hugs will check in tomorrow. Nitey Nite!!!

Hi all!

Sorry to be MIA, but yesterday the kids were here for 6 hr (definitely not complaining), but we were both tuckered out. We had a little "extra" birthday party for DGS as we were not invited to regular birthday party. I made Cinnamon Roll French Toast Casserole for brunch, with Double Hot Chocolate - Starbucks Double Hot Chocolate Mix, and Chocolate Peppermint Milk. They loved it, and both cleaned their plates. Then we played games, and let GS open his presents. They were a big hit! Got him 2 of the V-tech Go Smart Wheels toys; a constrction crane, and an amusement/race car set. We then had Turkey Hill Party Cake Ice cream - vanilla with pastel rainbow colored cake pieces in it. Looked like a unicorn fell in, but they loved it, especially when they got to choose from a variety of sprinkles to use as toppers. They both played so hard that they fell asleep on the way home.

Just before they left, DGS went in to go potty, and I went in to help him wash his hands. Noticed the sink was not draining. . . Oh brother! We decided to let it be and spent all of today trying to free the clog! We spent all morning plunging and pouring boiling water down the drain, only to discover that our 20+ yr old plunger had a 2 inch crack in it that was not readily apparent. Then tried sucking everything out with the shop vac, but still did not work. So I went to hardware store and bought new "midget plunger". You cannot find the old style red ones in the 2 foot size anymore, and the others were cheap plastic. Bought Professional Drain Opener on recommendation of old guy sales associate. Came home and DH put on chemical resistant gloves, safety goggles, and we poured recommended amount down drain. Waited recommended amount of time, and still standing water. . . Kept waitng and checking every half hour, and was trying to resgn myself to having to call plumber tomorrow. Lo and behold - about 30 minutes ago - a full 3.5 hours after pouring it down the drain, DH went in, and the water was gone!!! HALLELUJAH!!!!!

Barb, glad you finally got into double digits, and above freezing! Hope Clara is feeling better and back to work.

Thiry, glad things are working out with the two jobs. . .

So now going to get dinner on the table. You all have a wonderful evening!

Monday – Well, back to the work week routine. At least the weather isn’t frigid, but had a wintry mix overnight.

Have a few more things to get done for the estate, but I think I’m seeing a light @ the end of the tunnel.

HUGS and here’s to a marvelous Monday.

Thiry: You are one busy lady! Glad the kitties are safe. Hope that’s the last treatment.

Glad DH is going to make an appointment to get the hand shaking checked. Best to do that. Hope he’s feeling better.

Good luck getting the apartment put back together.

Sharon, Sunny, Marsha: Wishing you a marvelous Monday. The temp is already 34! Heat wave. I’ll take it.

Hugs and prayers for our soldiers, families and our country.

See y’all @ 3 pm.

BARB – Yes, I agree that it is best not to live with the kids. I think their style of raising their child would drive me nuts just from the little I have seen them with their daughter while we have been together. Glad you got your car tires checked out, I used to check mine occasionally also but got away from that with the indicator that I now have. Good to hear that Clara is feeling better. Yes, fluids always help when not feeling well. I was taking in a lot of fluids last weekend when the nose stuff hit me. Glad that Jason made it home safe. That was quite the ordeal he had to deal with trying to get to his plane to get home. Good luck with the research for the estate.

KELLY – yes, definitely going with the instincts. It isn’t happening as they have found a 3-bedroom house in the northern part of Omaha. Yes, basically just dropped off the cat with his food and water and when they did get here they ended up putting him in our cat carrier as he and our cats were not getting along. They are still having their moments. If they have their cat at his mom’s house it must be in the cat carrier all the time except when they would hold and pet him. Jackson Hewitt actually started meeting with customers on 12/18/17 doing what they call “sign & save” which is starting the tax return using the customers last paycheck stub. As a matter of fact, the IRS won’t even be accepting returns until 1/29 and won’t start paying on returns until the middle of February. I hope you had a good time with your sister on Saturday.

SHARON –Thank you, so far, I have worked with 2 clients in the 4 days I have been there. The one had her 2 kids with her and I was wishing I had some crayons as there were coloring pages in the drawer but no crayons. These kids were getting into everything including moving the mouse for my computer. I had to take it and ask that they not do that. She finally tried bribing them to sit still which helped a little. Good to hear that your DH is feeling better. Hoping that you get to feeling better also.

SUNNY – I hope all is well for you.

MARSHA – sorry to hear that your son is having car troubles but glad you can be there to help out if needed.

Needless to say, it has been busy here. I have worked 5-9 Tuesday through Friday at the tax kiosk and have worked with 2 clients so far. Thursday night the kids came to pick up their cat, so I wouldn’t have to deal with him on Friday during the last treatment. They did offer to take all our cats with them for the day but they would have been cooped up in the cat carrier all day as even their cat isn’t being allowed to wonder around the house so that is why they wanted us to take care of him. We did send Little Guy with them as he is the most easy going and since we only have 1 carrier we didn’t feel it would be good to try to have all 4 of the cats cooped up in it all day. Thursday evening we picked up the cat food so that the cats would be hungry Friday morning and make it easier to catch them in the bathroom while they were eating so I could take them to the car in time to leave for the treatment. Well, needless to say they have figured out the plan and took off running when DH put out the food. I did catch Storm quickly and easily, but Snowball and Bubbles were hiding. DH ended up having to head to work before we found them, so I was left alone to find them and get them down to the car by myself. I did figure out where they were hiding but we ended up going around and round as I would scare them our and then head in the direction they headed only to have them turn around and head back. Finally, about 9:30 I finally got Bubbles caught (last to be caught) by putting kitty treats out and bringing each one a little closer to me so I could finally grab him. We spent the day in the car until about 3:30 when I returned (a little early), got them back in the apartment, took a shower and headed to Wal-Mart to work the tax kiosk. Saturday was the mandatory training for doing taxes which ran from 8-2. I then had to fill out a few more papers so I didn’t get out of there to head home until almost 3. When I got home I started to organize the bedroom and closet.

Today we went to the early church as the choir was singing. As we were heading to the station to get gas we decided to stop for breakfast and relax for a little bit before heading home to work on the house. After breakfast we got gas in the car, stopped by the apartment to get my phone before heading to the walk-in clinic for DH. He thought he was dealing with a heal spur, but the doctor said he has tendonitis. He was also checked and found to have a sinus infection. He did mention to the doctor about his hands shaking but the doctor at the walk-in clinic told him he would need to see his primary about that. So, it looks like he will be visiting the doctor to have that checked out.
After that we went to look at an apartment, rinsed off the car then came home and started working on putting the apartment back together. I have done most of the work as He doesn’t feel well.

It has gotten late, and I need to get to bed.
Have a great day
Thiry

WOW what happened that Elsa didn't make it in time to give you all 30 Barb? I do hope it is a barely wintry mix and that you do get your 28 though.

And I hope all is clear or fairly clear and warming where the rest of you are.

Sharon I meant to ask if you ever use peroxide in your ears? I do it rarely and it helped, in fact likely will give a go today. Just a few drops in each ear, one ear at a time give it a few minutes to bubble and squeak (or in one case for me - squwacked so loud I thought I broke something in there) Meanwhile I hope you made it over to a walk in so you can really enjoy the kiddo's today.

Hugs and Prayers. Lawd Luv a Duck - fools are hunting big time, sun is just starting to rise but I don't think it is hunting season. But that doesn't matter to some fools.

Sunday – started out going to breakfast. Hurray. Nice to share a relaxing time w/Jason.

Otherwise, have a little research to do for the estate. Hoping it won’t take long.

The promised 30’s? didn’t happen yesterday. Today . . . well supposed to reach 28 w/a wintry mix. Guess it’s better than the arctic freeze we’ve been in.

Have a blessed Sunday.

Sharon: How are you doing?? HOpe you got checked out. HOPE you're feeling better.

Sunny, Thiry, Marsha: Here's to a good Suunday (but no sun here! ACK!)

Hugs and prayers for our soldiers, families and our country.

Take care, ladies -- I think we need that danged bubble wrap again to stay healthy!

Kelly: I definitely think the Tamiflu helped. That and Clara is 22! LOL

You got the 30 we were promised! Only made it to 13, but at least that's not sub-zero! I'll take it.

Sharon: definitely get the ear checked out.

Good to hear Clara is doing better! Think the tamaflu helped curtail it? You two stay well.

Sharon, I too think you should get checked out before that infection (seems like it is) gets too out of hand and really does a job on your hearing. Good that you two are getting your energy back and that is great to have the grands help put away the tree...enjoy!

Marsha, Sunny and Thiry hope all is quiet in your corner and fair weather is on it's way.

It maybe made it to 30 here too! Bright sunshine so lots of folks out running the roads. Supposed warming trend on its way.

Saturday – We may get all the way up to 30! Then snow. But doesn’t sound like a lot. That’s fine by me.

NO real plans. I am not going to say that too loudly!

Garage door fixed, Hurray!!!!

Clara is feeling better. That’s a hlessing!

HUGS and enjoy Saturday!

Sharon: Glad DH is better and has more energy! Hallelujah. Oh no on your plugged ear and sinuses. I’d frankly go to the Dr. cuz you may need an antibiotic for the sinuses, which should help the ear. That is miserable.

Yes, Clara is better and Jas and I (so far) are unscathed!

Have a great time w/the grands!

I am telling you, I am not a baby when it comes to cold weather, but enough! Today, supposed to get up to maybe 30. We’ll see. Doubting it, but at least not the subzero crud. That said, my prayers are definitely w/all those affected by Storm Grayson. Lordy.

Marsha: Yes, pretty much the same around here. Widespread flu, so facilities are not allowing visitors. I think it's a good idea.

Sunny, Thiry: Hope all is well!

Hugs and prayers for our soldiers, families and our country.

See y’all @ 3 pm for something WARM!

We will have a small warming trend and maybe
melt some snow before it turns cold again next week.
So far we have missed the colds and flu but the area
care centers have shut down and no visitors allowed
to give the residents a chance to get better.

Hey all. Late drive-by.

DH feeling better today, and has more energy. So that's good. Wish I could say the same. My ears have been plugged all week - sinuses are congested - I can feel it, and I'm tired of the echo in my head when I eat or brush my teeth! Sudafed isn't touching it. I can breathe through the nose, it's all up in my head. Any suggestions?

Sounds like everyone is doing okay, and hope the medicine is helping your family Barb.
Glad things are quiet for awhile. Wore my red today.

DS sent message today wanting to know if we wanted to see the grands. They have been asking to visit. I want to know if those little elves can help un-decorate the tree as fast as they helped decorate it?! So looking forward to their visit on Sunday.

This weather is reminiscent of winters when I was younger -very cold. If we had gotten all that snow that NE got hit with, it would have brought back more memories. Lucily only about an inch for us.

Well, hope you all have your hot water bottles warming up your beds to help you stay cozy and warm tonight. Sleep tight and sweet dreams . . . See you in the morning!

Friday – Well, Jas did make it home yesterday morning instead of yesterday night. The meetings went quicker than anticipated. Not w/o adventures, though. The batter in the rental car died. So he had to call the rental company and arrange for the key to be left w/the hotel manager so that he could get a cab to the airport. Mission accomplished. However, the pilot was ½ hr. late! Fortunately the flight from NY to Baltimore made it in time for him to catch his connection to Milwaukee. Never a dull moment.

Still cold here, but supposed to get above freezing tomorrow! Then . . . . snow.

Jas gets his surgical date today. I’ll be glad to have that in the past!

Clara went to the Dr. yesterday and indeed, she does have the flu. Started on Tamiflu. That’s a good thing. He also prescribed Tamiflu for us, because he has seen it spread like wildfire in families (and this one would be no exception!) so rather than having to go in a week from now with the flu ourselves, we will take the Tamiflu once/day. Clara has to take 2 caps once/day. Plying her w/fluids and chicken soup. (Jas and I are on the chicken soup regime, too). Also giving her grape juice (as natural as I can find it) as that’s loaded w/antioxidants. That’s a good thing.

Marsha: If anyone can get the cleaning/tidying project done, you can.

Glad no flu.

Kelly: All I can tell you is gobble that garlic soup down!!! If you just sautee the garlic, I find it doesn’t even need to be emulsified. It has a sweet, nutty flavor.

Yes, Jas is working from home today. Thank goodness. Garage door opener being replaced as we speak. Thank goodness!

Sharon, Sunny, Thiry: Hope all is well!

Hugs and prayers for our soldiers, families and our country.

See y’all @ 3 pm for something chocolicious and warm

Sharon, nothing wrong anywhere here, I made a batch of garlic soup just because hadn't had it in awhile and wanted more yesterday afternoon. Side note: I was lazy and only rough chopped all that garlic and did not take the immersion thing to it, it was okay but I prefer the other way. I also left out the dairy, liked it that way too. The rest is in the freezer for now.

I'll wait to make that choco dish when Sis gets here.

Marsha, the way you clean me thinks your new hire will think the office is more than a-okay! That is good news to know you are going to finally have to time breathe at work.

Is Jason able to work from home today Barb? I'm sure he was bone tired yesterday. Did he have to go into the office after landing?

Sunny and Thiry hope all is well with you all.

So glad I headed home last week, I'd be camped out in very very cold Florida otherwise. I had to do that 4 Christmas' ago when mother nature had a major tantrum (five days late getting home, of course didn't have to push it because I had a place to stay). To think too, I was going to go from FL up to NY, you know I am happy I didn't. Temps are in the low teens and likely won't rise much today, where are my long johns?

Hugs and Prayers to our brave warriors, their families and of course our first responders. See all you all at 3. Be safe and warm.

So glad the weekend is almost here. There will be a
new CSR working with me, starting next week. I know
it is a good thing but the pressure is on to clean the office
and "tidy up". I guess that will be a Saturday project but
housework has to come first. Although, I do feel like I live
in the office already. Have a great weekend and treat
yourself with kindness. Stay positive!

No flu so far but I feel for those who are suffering.

Bad weather travels out east-stay safe and stay home.

Barb, glad Jas got out of Dodge before things got really nasty, and is home safe! You are so right! You could never make up a get out of dodge story like that one!!!

Sorry to hear Clara has the "crud". Good thing you're armed with Chicken and Garlic Soups! We finished up our double batch today. Had it for lunch every day for the past week along with a small French roll. So comforting.

Kelly, what were you thinking, my dear?! Hot cocoa and garlic soup????? Time for some ginger ale to settle that tummy!

Have you all tried the Baked Fudge yet? We'll finish that for dessert tonight after leftover meatloaf and potatoes.

Have a great evening, and stay warm!!!!!

Yes, I am eternally grateful for freezer stock of chicken AND turkey soup. Liquid penicillin! Yes, I think she’s happy to be taken care of but called me Nurse Ratchet cuz I’m pushing fluids. LOL So . . . Be . . . It. Oh and yes, PLENTY of garlic in that there soup.

I’m used to checking the tire pressure as well! First car I’ve ever had with an idiot light for low tire pressure.

True, garlic and chocolate don’t necessarily go together. LOLOL

Stay warm and safe, dear ladies!!!

Geez, what a way to start the trek home Barb! At least he got out in time. Sorry to hear about Clara, good thing you have soup in the freezer to help her along. And I'm sure she is glad to be home with mommy.

Tires do tend to deflate in extreme cold, used to worry about it late at night and before the times of tire warnings. My car doesn't have it so it has become a habit to check the tire pressure every so often. Doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles just the way I like it.

Laughing because we are all saying the same thing about the sun here too! Liar Liar

Well, garlic soup and hot cocoa do not necessarily make a good pairing.

Hope all is well with everyone and you all are staying warm and safe. Sharon, hope the winter wet stuff doesn't hit you all too hard.

Thursday – Again, BITTER out. But guess I’m getting used to it! UGH.

Did get my tires inflated to the proper level. I, along w/MANY others had that problem. So, done.

Jas will HOPEFULLY be home sometime this morning vs. late, late tonight or Friday early (after midnight.) Thankful.

Clara is home w/. . . . the flu. DANG. I think she’s feeling better. Resting lots, which is what she needs.

Onward w/Thursday.

Marsha: glad that the weather warmed a bit for you! Supposed to moderate a tad over the weekend here, but snow.

Oh boy. Sorry that the fuel pump isn’t working. **SIGH**

Marsha: That’s good that you can help your DS out w/rides to and from work.

Kelly: Stay warm. We have the sun out, but it’s a big fat liar! NOT HEATING ANYTHING!

Hope you enjoyed water aerobics!

Have a good visit w/your sis. That will be nice.

Sharon: Stay warm and be careful in the snow!

Glad that DH is feeling better! Hurray.

Oh my gosh. Jas called last night. He finished what had to be done in NY and was going to come home early this morning. Left the hotel @ 2:30 am. The battery in the rental car – dead. Called the rental place, told them he’d leave the key w/the hotel mgr. and was taking a taxi to the airport. He made it. The pilot, however, was ½ hr. late. Fortunately he got out of NY before the storm cranked. He landed in Baltimore and left in short order to get back here to Milwaukee. Made it safe and sound. Thank goodness. I mean, really. Could you make this stuff up??

Hugs and prayers for our soldiers, families and our country.

See y'all @ 3 for sumthin WARM!

Hi all!
About an inch of snow. In single digits, but not as cold as some of you.

Marsha, hope yor son's car repair is a minor one.

DH feeling better yesterday as day progressed. emoticon for the tips.

Kelly, good for you to have the energy to clean. Good luck with that.

Thiry, good luck with "your store". Make sure you keep your immune system boosted, and get plenty of rest when you can. You are definitely going to need it!

Barb, hope Jas doesn't have any problems getting back home with this "bomb cyclone". Talk about jumping from the frying pan into the fire! Snowing pretty good in NYC.

Have a good day y'all, and I'll check in later.l

That's good Marsha. Mom's taxi never closes does it, no matter the age, besides it's a great chance for extra visits.

After a high 30 temp yesterday afternoon, we are again back under freezing. Will take it though. North Florida got dusted with snow, overnight where daughter is is in the twenties overnight, not much warmer in the day.

Off to water aerobics, then home to clean. I'm going to channel Marsha's cleaning energy but will not be washing walls, although a couple of wall boards need some TLC. My sister is blowing through Saturday on her whirlwind tour that she has missed out on the past few years due to her health. New Orleans to Oklahoma City to Hot Springs AR to here on to east TN. Different route home through Birmingham to see her daughter. All by car, good for her being able to do that.

Hugs and Prayers and a big ole mug of hot cocoa later.

You have a heat wave coming up Barb! It was 20 already at 9am this morning but it will be back at 0 tonight. No white stuff though. Looks like Florida is about to get hit with some serious cold.

Yikes, bad enough to be heading out before the butt crack of dawn but in this c c c old.

Gargle always seems to help doesn't it? Wish I could find the recipe for the gargle that has worked so well for me, last time I guess I just used a little iodine, some peroxide in a cup of warm heavy salted water. Several gargles over a short time, 2 - 3 times a day. That and the good ole up your nose saline thingy to clean that out. Good to hear you two are on the mend again and I do hope you get some kiddie time (little ones and the big one) soon.

Thiry I would say go with your instincts on being roomies, certainly not getting off on the right foot. Really, we're here now take our cat for awhile? Kids

I wouldn't think the tax folks would be opening for business already, the past few years you couldn't even file until Feb. Guess it's a good way to drum up business, good luck with it you sure have worked hard enough.

Well, I should get a move on. Was going to do some errands after water aerobics, forgot what I needed so now do I really want to head out probably should; tomorrow will be brutal again.

Hugs, stay warm and safe.

Wednesday – Okee dokee then. Frigid weather day . . . . again! May warm up to about 20 by the weekend then guess what -- SNOW. Sheesh.

Jas left for the airport @ 3am. TIRED DAY.

When I was coming home yesterday from the post office, the low tire pressure idiot light went on. Have to take it to get refilled today @ the dealer because the local gas station air machine was out of order.

Sharon: YOU’RE WELCOME! Hope it works.

Thiry: Thanks. Jas arrived safe and sound.

Hope that you’re feeling better.

Hmmmm . . . think you’re doing the right thing not living together. Could get “messy”.

Hope things went well w/work.

BARB – We spent new years eve home also. DH as asleep by 8-8:30 as he had to be at work at 8 am Monday morning. We didn’t leave the apartment Sunday and I didn’t leave it at all on Monday either. Safe travels for Jason as he goes to HY.

KELLY – Yes, it was a whirlwind drive to Montana, but the main thing is that we accomplished our goal for the trip. Yes, it took a couple days to recover from the trip and then the runny, stuffy nose and sneezing hit so I spent Sunday and Monday resting, blowing my nose, drinking lots of fluids and running to the bathroom. I didn’t leave the apartment from getting back from the errands on Friday until this morning. I also made it past midnight for all time zones Sunday night and could have joined you howling at the moon as I was wide awake until 3:30 am Monday morning. Needless to say, since I was dealing with the runny, stuffy nose I didn’t go out to howl either. Even though Omaha postponed their fireworks Sunday night I did hear some going off so some of the suburbs of Omaha must have continued with theirs even with the subzero temps and wind chills. Hope your City Council meeting went well.

SHARON – love the picture. Good to hear that you are starting to get your energy back and that your DH is starting to feel better also. Don’t rush it and cause a setback. I’m sure you are missing the little ones especially since you have been spending a lot of time with them. I just about finished watching the Hallmark Christmas movies that I taped while I have been resting up and trying to get over the runny, stuffy nose thing.

SUNNY – I hope all is well with you and that you are staying well.

MARSHA – good to see you again. Happy New Year to you too. It sounds like you have been doing some big time cleaning.

Well, after a couple days recovering from the Montana trip and a couple days dealing with the runny, stuffy nose I had quite a day today. DH woke me at 6:30 asking if I was going to work today. I reminded him that I am off until Monday. I had a session with the trainer at the gym this morning and that was all I did today as I felt worn out when I was finished. I ran a few errands, getting bread, picking up a few groceries, eating lunch with DH while at the store to get groceries, then home thinking I would possibly take a nap but the boys kept climbing all over me so that didn’t happen. About 4:30 I got a text asking if I knew that the 180th & Center Walmart tax center was opening today. I said no and asked if I was scheduled to work tonight. The response was yes from 5-9 pm. Needless to say, I quickly found something to wear, grabbed my purse and drink and headed out. I was a few minutes late arriving. My supervisor was there waiting for me and then we went over several things including how I clock in/out, where to find my work schedule, how to use the merchant account for recording credit card/e-check payments and the stuff for setting up the kiosk with advertising stuff. I spent the rest of the evening looking through my emails and setting up and organizing the kiosk as this is going to be “my store” as he said.

When I got home DH son and DIL were here. They have texted several times that they need us to watch their cat until they can find a place to live. I told them my biggest concern is the fact that I need to have all the cats out of the apartment Friday morning for the last pest treatment. They said they will come pick him up Thursday night and keep him through Friday after the treatment. There was also some talk about a place to live and they made the comment that they need to live close to her job. (one that she doesn’t actually have as of yet) which would mean moving into Omaha, Douglas county. We actually told them that we don’t want to live in Douglas county because of the Wheel tax that would add $50-$100/car when getting the plates each year. They said that this wheel tax is nothing compared to some of the extra expenses they were paying living in Pennsylvania, they only have 1 car. We have also concluded that since she wants to live close to her job that would mean a lot more driving for DH and myself. Needless to say, with these developments tonight, DH and I have concluded that we don’t think it will work living together and sharing the expenses as everything will be “what they want” and we won’t have much to say about things. This means we may be at this apartment a little longer that we were hoping but I want to be happy not miserable which is what I believe I would be trying to live with them.

We actually had a "heatwave" today. After several days of subzero temps with even colder wind chills we hit at least 21 degrees today.

Well I better try to get some sleep.

Have a great day
Thiry

Sharon: Glad you're getting some of your energy back. That's a good thing! And glad to hear that DH is less congested.

sometimes with the post nasal drip of a respiratory infection the drainage can cause stomach irritation, and add to that coughing, which can actually cause some pain to the chest and tummy muscles, I'm not too surprised w/the nausea. Is he gargling @ all with salt water (1/4 tsp. salt to 6 oz. water). Gargle and spit. It cleanses the throat and lessens some of that irritation from post nasal drip that causes coughing.

Hope DH feels better soon.

Howdy ladies.

Very cold here, but not near the negative temps some of you are having. Finally getting some of my energy back, and cooked up a storm this past weekend. DH congestion is much less, but today he has nausea. I hope it's only a 24 hr thing.

Haven't see our 2 little ones since Christmas, and I miss them. Hope were both back to normal pronto so we can see DS again before he has to go back to work.

Quiet day yesterday. Watched Hallmark and Netflix. Miss the Christmas movies already.

Stay warm ladies! Enjoy your evening.

Marsha, come on by anyway just to sit a spell...many days we are having more than tame libations like water. (I hear you about wine at Communion and on an empty tummy)

Have a huge meeting at the City Council tonight, so it'll be more than tame. Not looking forward to being out in this cold.

I haven't even opened the proseco, made a pre-dinner toast to John the other night and a glass of wine (since I opened it to cook with) that's it since then.

I am grateful cold as it is that we are not in the same range as the rest of you, so stay warm and safe.

Hugs and Prayers.

Alcohol and I just don't tango like we did when I
was young. Wine on communion Sunday is the best
I can do and I get a buzz off of that. Having a alcoholic
as a father discourages the thought plus being an EMT
makes it a big no-no when you are on call 24-7.

Kelly: That’s too funny! Howling @ the moon. Yes, surely would have frozen in place if I did that last night!

Wow, don’t think I’ve ever been in a restaurant where they’ve asked if the steak (or whatever) is large enough!

HUGS

Sharon knows a good evening (or year) never started with a salad! Luv it...

Happy to see you stop by Marsha, please don't be such a stranger. You have such an adventurous and busy life, hope this year you will give yourself permission to slow down.

Thiry that was a whirlwind drive, it will take a day or two to get back to "normal".

Thanks HGTV for again televising the The Rose Parade without commercials!!!
I will not complain about our temps with what you northerners are experiencing. Shades of when we lived up there, and do not miss it now that I am older and wiser. Funny thought came to mind as I was fixing my steak, we had just moved to upstate NY right before New Year's Eve (68), ventured out to the only restaurant open in Saratoga. Beautiful place, we ordered steak; a few minutes later the cook comes out with two hunker sized steaks asking us if these were big enough (or something like that). Can you imagine that happening these days?

I made it past midnight in all the time zones, Mr. Sandman was nowhere to be found for some reason. Tempted to go outside, howl at the moon and beat pots and pans but decided being frozen wasn't worth the fun, or having the neighbors call the white coats on me.

Stay well everyone. Hugs, Prayers and see all you lassies at 3 to start this year off right!

BARB – cold here also. We had a high today of -6 with a windchill of -19. DH and I decided to stay in today so we didn’t go to church. I had heard last night that a lot of churches were cancelling their morning services but never saw that ours did. Tonight is supposed to get to -22 with a wind chill of -34. Glad I don’t have to get out for work in the morning. DH is scheduled to be at work at 8 so not quite so early as he usually does.

KELLY – The New Year’s Eve fireworks scheduled for tonight have been postponed to next weekend due to the extreme cold and windchills. We are staying in tonight also and DH actually turned on the furnace as he was cold. He said it was 65 in here before he turned on the furnace. I am now sweating with the furnace on. What good memories from 52 years ago. It may have taken 2 years for the two of you to decide it was more than a friendship but you did and had many years together. Interesting information about pineapple. I may have to have DH eat some in the evenings before going to bed as he complains about getting congested when using his CPAP. I am copying the pineapple information and printing it for DH as he likes pineapple.

SHARON – Sorry to hear that your DH is now dealing with the crud. Hope the medications from the doctor help, quickly. Good luck with the pulmonary function test. Glad your results have been improving over the last year and sure they will improve with this test also. Good to hear that you are both feeling better.

SUNNY – Good to see you again. Sorry you were dealing with the crud also but glad you were feeling better in time for Christmas. Glad things went well with Joshua.

Well we have had 2 lazy days here after getting back from Montana. Yesterday I did finish a load of laundry that I started on Friday but other than that the only thing that I watched movies from the Hallmark channel, fixed supper and played games on my old phone while having the boys lopping on my, sometimes up to 3 at the same time. Today we decided to forego church due to the cold so more movies, fixed food and ran 1 load of clothes. I have been dealing with a runny nose and sneezing all day today so I now have a sore nose from blowing it all day long. I half way expected DS to contact us at the last minute to invite us to his place for New Years eve as he has done in the past but that didn’t happen today. I currently have Dick Clarks New Year’s Rockin’ Eve on the TV and have one of the boys wanting to get on my lap but he is unable to right now because of my having my laptop in my lap.

Happy New Year to all.
Have a great day
Thiry

I would say fresh is better but juice is worth the try especially is you like it (not sure how it'd be with peppermint wodka though). I'm having minimally dry aged steak and a few fixings. Maybe some garlic soup too.

Here is the article, I know I have shared it maybe even as a blog as have others; guess we all forget what we learn here if we don't keep it near by. Do you have one of those fancy pineapple cutter thingy's or are your knife skills good enough to do it the old fashioned way? I just scrolled through it and saw it eases painful joints, starting tomorrow we will see. Thought I had some jarred in the fridge was going to broil some up for tonight, nah.

A Simple Pineapple
The pineapple is a member of the bromeliad family.
It is extremely rare that bromeliads produce edible fruit.
The pineapple is the only available edible bromeliad today.

It is a multiple fruit. One pineapple is actually made up of dozens of individual floweret's that grow together to form the entire fruit. Each scale on a pineapple is evidence of a separate flower.

Pineapples stop ripening the minute they are picked.
No special way of storing them will help ripen them further.
Colour is relatively unimportant in determining ripeness.
Choose your pineapple by smell. If it smells fresh, tropical and sweet, it will be a good fruit.

The more scales on the pineapple, the sweeter and juicier the taste.

After you cut off the top, you can plant it.
It should grow much like a sweet potato will.

This delicious fruit is not only sweet and tropical; it also offers many benefits to our health.
Pineapple is a remarkable fruit.

We find it enjoyable because of its lush, sweet and exotic flavor, but it may also be one of the most healthful foods available today. If we take a more detailed look at it, we will find that pineapple is valuable for easing indigestion, arthritis or sinusitis.

The juice has an anthelmintic effect; it helps get rid of intestinal worms.

Let's look at how pineapple affects other conditions.

Pineapple is high in manganese, a mineral that is critical to development of strong bones and connective tissue. A cup of fresh pineapple will give you nearly 75% of the recommended daily amount.

It is particularly helpful to older adults, whose bones tend to become brittle with age. Bromelain, a proteolytic enzyme, is the key to pineapple's value. Proteolytic means "breaks down protein", which is why pineapple is known to be a digestive aid.
It helps the body digest proteins more efficiently.
Bromelain is also considered an effective anti-inflammatory.

Regular ingestion of at least one half cup of fresh pineapple daily is purported to relieve painful joints common to osteoarthritis. It also produces mild pain relief.

In Germany, bromelain is approved as a post-injury medication because it is thought to reduce inflammation and swelling.

Orange juice is a popular liquid for those suffering from a cold because it is high in Vitamin C. Fresh pineapple is not only high in this vitamin, but because of the Bromelain, it has the ability to reduce mucous in the throat. If you have a cold with a productive cough, add pineapple toyour diet. It is commonly used in Europe as a post-operative measure to cut mucous after certain sinus and throat operations.

Those individuals who eat fresh pineapple daily report fewer sinus problems related to allergies.
In and of itself, pineapple has a very low risk for allergies.

Pineapple is also known to discourage blood clot development. This makes it a valuable dietary addition for frequent fliers and others who may be at risk for blood clots.

An old folk remedy for morning sickness is fresh pineapple juice. It really works!
Fresh juice and some nuts first thing in the morning often make a difference.

It's also good for a healthier mouth. The fresh juice discourages plaque growth.

OKay lassies and families, luv to all of you for another fabulous year past and look to the next ones. I have a Rusty Nail waiting.

Sharon: Glad you and DH are feeling better.

Not sure if there’s a difference in the affect of eating the real pineapple vs. juice, but would hazard a guess that the pineapple itself is healthier – not processed, no added sugar. Just my thoughts.

Feeling better, Dh too. Guess what OUR appetizer is? Yeah, if you guessed garlic soup you’d be right. We won’t be bothered by any vampires, will we! LOLOL

Had a menu planned out, but Dh decided he just wanted pizza. All righty then. He can have pizza!

I’m going to concentrate on the garlic soup, a salad and some prosecco! Yeah.

I can tell you for sure I am not going to be up at midnight, but will hold out as long as I can!

HUGS and Happy New Year ladies!

Happy New Years Eve! Sittin' here sippin' Peppermint Twist vodka on the rocks. Finally starting to feel better! DH doing better, too. Coughed very little last night. Only woke me up twice.
Interesting about the pineapple. Just got home from the grocery store. Wish I had checked in earlier. Does the juice offer the same benefits? I do have some juice in the pantry.

Frigid here, too, but not quite as cold as the rest of you.

Kelly, loved your story. Raising my glass to you and John!

Barb, how are you feeling?

Having our 3rd dose of Garlic Soup tonight as an appetizer. Doing steaks, baked potatoes, and salad. Doing a variation of Lava cakes for dessert. If they turn out good I'll post the recipe. Don't think DH will make it to midnight this time.

Enjoy your evening all! emoticon emoticon
