We got our Wii!!! Boxing really takes it out of you...
I've been doing walking videos. I have my orientation at the Y on Thursday morning, so I'll get acuainted with all of the machines and amenities there...

I've been doing pretty good at getting 20-30 minutes of walking in 4-5 times a week.

Tonight it's huddle under the covers night. That temperature drop is going to keep my furnace chugging all night!

I have always found the MEN'S long underwear to be heavier than the ladies and to also fit better. They generally come in white so doesn't really matter unless you really want a pretty ladies color. But who really is going to see them?? LOL!!

Good luck in finding them. Have you tried Target/Shopko/Sears-Kmart, etc? Or a sporting goods store would most likely have them. Isn't there a big one by Brookfield Square?

I've been continuing to go on my walks outside at lunchtime (I use my treadmill at home, but want a mid-day break as well.)
For the most part, I'm geared out pretty well. I use two sweatshirts (one with a hood,) wrap a scarf around my neck and wear gloves.
The only problem is that my legs get cold enough that my muscles start to tighten up and I'm concerned that I'll pull something.
I know that all I really need is some long underwear to go along with the rest of my gear, but I haven't been able to find any. I HAVE to just be looking in the wrong places, I'm going to try Brookfield Square at lunch today. (I'll just walk over there with my coat on, I don't want to go for a real walk in the snow anyway.)
Anyway, if I can't find anything there, does anyone know where I can find some long underwear?

Thanks!

We can't find a Wii anywhere. Looks like we'll have to wait until after Christmas for one.

So, this morning, instead of sitting on my couch surfing for a fitness exercise to do, I spent 10 minutes clearing a space in my office to set up my Transfirmer. I haven't been doing my Firm because I "didn't have enough room". I'm so done with that excuse. Although I must say that taking the stairs today was a bit of a challenge this morning after my tall box climbs. :)

Love my elliptical. Used it a few times this summer when it was too hot out, So this winter Iíll use it too. Burns more calories than the treadmill in a shorter amount of time. Gives me my pulse rate too.

DD stood on the doorstep this morning instead of running out the door. I kept telling her to go and she looked at me and said, NO! COLD! I can't wait to see what she says when it's below zero. :)

I'm glad to hear that about the Gazelle. I'l have to keep that in mind. We had been looking at one. We're also looking at a Wii...

I wish it were almost Spring instead of winter. The cold weather bothers my asthma. Still only in the 30's here but at least the sun is shining.

I like the GAzelle. Word of warning though, if you have any kind of circulation issues in your feet or if your feet ache easily or often, try one out for awhile before you actually do it. Some days I'm just fine on it and some days my feet hurt so bad after 15 minutes that I'm not sure I can do another second. The reason is because as you move the pads back and forth you never actually lift your feet up off the pads, thus maintaining continuous pressure right on your feet throughout the movements.

As for clearance the foot pedals sit about 8 inches off the ground, maybe 12. But, when you're doing it, y ou don't really go up and down very much that I've noticed. I like it overall and I think I'll really appreciate it this winter when i can't go outside and walk.

P.S. call me Mouse, that's what all my friends call me!! Marie is my middle name.

Those are great ideas!
Mouse- I worked out at Curves for about a year and a half, then I had to change locations and the second one didn't have the same feel. I always felt like I was intruding on someone's conversation when I walked in the door. I think my body got used to the workouts as well. I stopped losing weight. How do you like your gazelle? We were thinking about getting one to put in the basement, but we have pretty low clearance down there. We're worried about smacking our heads on the ceiling.

I have discovered Netflix's "watch now" section. There are fitness videos in there and I can download and play up to 17 hours a week. I think I'll be using those a lot this year. I also want to get back to FIRMing. We also just got a family membership to the Y. It's within walking distance from both my house and work. I think DH is going to use it more than I am though.

I work a couple nights a week at the Curves in Janesville, so that gives me a free membership. But I also have a couple of pilates dvd's and a gazelle in my living room. I'm investing in a few seasons of Gilmore Girls on DVD to watch while on the GAzelle and I'm thinking about investing in some tae bo dvd's. I lent my tapes to someone else and she lost them during a couple of moves. :(

I have a decent treadmill and bike here at home but I also just joined the fitness room at our high school. Can't beat the price there. Also signed up for a water aerobics class in a neighboring town. Our High school is also open for walking every morning and after school. We don't have any malls nearby to go to.

What are you doing to be prepared? Do you intend to work out outside, regardless of the weather? Are you going to walk in a mall? Go to a gym? Do some of Coach Nicole's videos?
