Oh my, I can almost smell that zucchini bread! Looks wonderful!

Today I'm packing for the rally. Thank the Lord, we bought an air conditioner for the cottage, because we're going to need it.

I was happy to see a loss on the scales this morning. When it stands still, I get frustrated but when it goes up, I go into panic mode and that just makes it worse. Maybe this weekend I'll be too busy to fret about any of it...

Have a lovely day, all...

Today it is clean out a closet or two. I have things to put in the lawn sale. Lots of things collected over the years.
I made a Death by Chocolate Zucchini bread/cake. That turned out great.

I wish I had more garden space. Our ground is clay so we dug out and put in soil and mixed in sand and other things to make a space that would grow things. It surprises me when it is successful.

Love Zucchini emoticon never tried relish before, sounds interesting emoticon I'm trying to do well with my nutrition today. I logged everything and stayed within my allowed calories so that's good. Kids grow so fast. I can't believe my son's going to the 4th grade already. My daughter will be in first. My babies are getting big. I'm thinking of starting a garden emoticon now that the kids are bigger. My dad has a very nice one at his house. Tomatoes, peppers, Cucumbers, parsley, kale, mint, lettuce, blackberries, pear tree, peach tree, grape vine. He's busy. I may have to enlist him to start mine..he he.. emoticon I have lots of flowers and trees that are not doing well with this heat. My lilies, roses are burnt out. Hydrangea not out yet? Lots of things to do on the list. In time emoticon I guess. Good Night and God Bless

I have 4 zucchinis in the fridge. I need to get them shredded and frozen. I just got a new recipe for zucchini cookies that will be great to serve at Friday Night Light.

Today my first grandchild turns 16. He spent the first 2 weeks of his life here at Gram's house while they were waiting for the purchase of their first house to be finalized. It's been a wild ride, but he's turning into a fine young man. His Pap got him his first motorcycle, which scares the daylights out of me, but I know he'll be learning to ride from the best.

I'll drop by later...

Good to hear from all of you. This is a busy week. I made a batch of Zucchini relish today.
It has taken a bit of time. but my garden was hiding the Zucchini. I needed to get something done with them.;

Prayers for all.

Hello, all! Great to see your posts, Liz! They are so cheerful!!!

This is rally week, so I am busy trying to get things together for that. My eating is way off course so I hope that levels out this week. This time, since we will be staying in our own cottage, I will be able to prepare our meals and not have to eat out. I just haven't got a menu down yet...

Nothing much else going on. The heat and humidity is getting to me, but I can't do much about that!

Have a great one, all...

I will stand in agreement with you on your eyes being healed in the name of Jesus. I also would like to add- Dear lord Jesus heal Ann's knees as well as her eyes so she can continue to exercise and do good works unto you. Help her make healthy decisions and allow her to find ways to exercise without causing harm to her temple. In Jesus Name Amen.

So glad to hear from you Liz. Congratulations on going down a dress size. I love your posts with the emoticons on it too. Sounds like you and hubby are eating healthy. Glad you enjoyed your vacation. I am a real family gal too, spending lots of time with the grandkids.

Tomorrow after work, I am going for my three month checkup for my eyes. I feel like they are doing pretty well. I am declaring right now to be healed in the mighty name of Jesus.

Glad to hear from you like I said before. I am going to sign up again for the weigh ins at work soon, can't decide if I will wait til fall because I have a week of vacation next week, some in August and some in the fall too. I am blessed with seven weeks of vacation. Yippee! I am not doing very well in the weight loss dept. since I have had some trouble with my knees. This week I will be doing my exercises strictly focused on my knees. So I can get back walking soon. That really works for me. Talk to you again

Hi to everyone else. Have a great afternoon!

Good Afternoon Everyone! emoticon

I've been away from this group and Sparkpeople in general because I was involved with some other groups on FaceBook, emoticon their really great people and coaches but the constant notifications and blowing up my feed with pictures of healthy foods emoticon and workouts seem to get a bit much, lol
I am so glad to see all of my friends still here trekking along. I've dropped from a size 12 to a size 10 emoticon but I still need to lose more of my belly. My husband is watching what he eats as well since his cholesterol is still high emoticon and we're not getting any younger. It's hard work but I'm up for the challenge! emoticon I'm looking to keep track emoticon of my food more, I tried 21 day fix but it seems to be a little too strict emoticon to stay on all the time so I'm going back to SparkPeople. We just got back from New Hampshire, we took a vacation emoticon and went to Santa's Village and Storyland. We had alot of fun and now its back to work emoticon . Although we will be taking a few more days in August. But just working out, trying to eat healthier and enjoying life with the family. emoticon

Glad you had a good birthday.

I had a good lesson at the music store. It was good to drive myself and a friend up there. It is an hour and a half each way. I think I know the way even better now.

Today we go with another friend. She cares for her downs syndrome sister. her sister will be 60 years old. That is a wonderful accomplishment. The sister wanted balloons asn that is what we are taking. We meet at a restaurant near Pittsburgh in the South Hills Area.
We will all have dinner together. .

I am hoping we don't have a thunder storm. We had high winds last night and the front lawn and porch are a mess.

Enjoy the weekend. Blessings to all of you.

I had a great birthday, thanks for the good wishes! I didn't eat cake and ice cream, but I had a healthy spinach and mushroom scramble at Perkin's. Also, coffee. Well, I will pray for all of you today that God will meet you at your deepest point of need! Blessings.

Hi! Today I travel to Greensburg PA to music class. My friend is going with me. I am glad that the Thunderstorms will be later this evening.

Ann, I have a lot of NAOT shoes. I worked part time for a store that sold them. They are the most comfortable shes I have.

This is going to be a long day so I am off to get on the road.
Enjoy Friday.

Second area rug scrubbed and I'm waiting on it to dry. Got the livingroom put back together and the animals seem to be happy about it. They don't like it when I move the furniture. I'm calling that my exercise for today! Diningroom furniture is still in the crowded into the kitchen until that area rug goes upstairs...

Nothing really interesting going on here right now. No sugar again today. It helps that Bob is trying to take a few pounds off and sugar is always the first thing he gives up. No ice cream in the house!!! BUT, tomorrow I start baking again for Friday Night Light. Some things I'm going to start cutting my recipe in half for, because I always have too much left over.

Have a lovely evening, all...

Greetings and salutations to one and all. I am back to work today and you know what. I do love my job and the people I work with are great. I am still loving the sense of purpose I get helping people and solving problems. emoticon

I have to admit I did some eating of sweets on my vacation. Let's see there was ice cream and also cake. Considering I went to two birthday parties I am not too worried. I also cooked some meals with lots of veggies and meat. emoticon emoticon Couscous was not a hit with the hubby but I like it.

I also got one of my Naot shoes repaired for $5.00 since it was only the Velcro that needed replacing and the shoe is still in great shape.

We had fun on our vacation and we did not go anywhere but around our city. You know it seemed longer because we did not rush here and there. emoticon

Sounds like you have a good plan. Glad you are back on track. I am at a plateau. I didn't gain but the rest of the weight is not off yet.

Last night was very successful . We had about 30 at the picnic. There were 3 playing music for us too. Our member Chris, and his 2 friends. We had Blue Grass music. (Fiddle, Guitar, and Banjo) It was a fun night. there was a breeze and no RAIN!!! I will be glad when this presidents job is over..

Stay on track for the rest of the week-that is my plan.

Cleared out the dining room today and laid out my area rug for the living room so I could scrub it. Now I'm waiting for it to dry so it can go back into the living room. I have to move all the furniture around to be able to put it back. Too much furniture, not enough space! I have another area rug to do that I brought back from the cottage. It's going into one of the upstairs bedrooms when it's dry. That is on my list for tomorrow...

Back on track today...

Company gone and now Kiwanis picnic tonight. I think I am ready with everything.
We are eating out too much so I have to really set some goals and plan ahead.

This summer is going too fast. I still have a lot to clean out and get rid of. We are doing a garage sald next month and there are many things that need to go. or end up at Good Will.

Enjoy your day.

Happy Birthday!!!! emoticon I will be 59 I a couple of weeks. Hard to make myself believe that...

Just got back from the cottage. It was campmeeting week, and I must say, it was strange to have so many people around. It was too busy for Hopi. She barked every time a kid ran by. Usually we have the camp mostly to ourselves, except for the snowbirds who are there until fall, and then they head for warmer climates. We were there for 4 days. I was ready to come home...

I actually managed to lose a pound while I was gone. Now, to get serious about this...

Hello: Have a wonderful birthday. You deserve it. How about that free breakfast, eh?

emoticon At 52 you are just a spring chicken. I am gonna celebrate my 65th b'day on August 10th.......I still feel young, Still working full time because I love it still. And I get seven weeks of vacation spread over the year so I try to take a little time off each month.

We have been celebrating my hubby Terry's birthday which was July 14th. He belongs to so many birthday clubs we have spent the last three days celebrating. Tony Romas for dinner, he got $19.00 off his meal on his real b'day./ Next day he got a free piece of cake at Montanas. Yesterday he got a free ice cream at Marble Slab. He still has a choice of a free can of coffee, free chocolates or a free mini pie at Giant Tiger which is a discount dept. store.

On Saturday I went to a high end second hand store called Mine 101. It usually has designer clothes in it. I may have mentioned it before but on Saturdays and Sundays they have a big old bin full of clothes inside the store and if you are willing to dig in, you can get a bag of clothes (larger sized grocery store plastic bag) for $5.00. Usually I get some extra small stuff for my grandaughter but I scored for me. I got a fall coat with a hood from Sears that is nice, a designer pair of Bermuda length navy blue shorts, a black purse for Aldo's and a toque from Joe Fresh for my grandson. All for five bucks!

I just wanted to say hi to the new members. Don't be nervous about posting stuff on our daily check in. We would love to hear from you.

Good day everyone! Well, tomorrow is my 52nd birthday and I am having fun already celebrating it! We went to Hardee's this morning for sodas, and the boss asked us if we'd like some bacon, egg biscuits for free!! (Otherwise, she would have to throw them out!) God's sense of humor? You tell me...Blessings.

You are so right. This whole program is now so full of adds that it takes so long to load anything and the page jumps on me. I have been struggling with it now and told my husband. He said that the page has to load all the adds before it is really up.

We were not too busy until we got a call Tuesday and have company coming for overnight Saturday (tomorrow ) night. They are on their way north. Tomorrow morning we have some on e stopping ny for coffee. This weekend turned out really busy

I am trying to work between all this and get stuff out for a lawn sale. No time.

Retirement is sure too busy for me these days.

I'm getting really tired of these continuously moving ads on this site. It takes forever for it to load and then it takes another few minutes to be able to post. Then for some unknown reason, it decides to go back to the last page and I have to start over again. Grrrr...

As soon as I get laundry done, we're heading for the cottage. I need the peace and quiet...

You all must be pretty busy, too. Unless you're having trouble using this site, too...LOL...

also praying for the friend. That is really a tough situation. With all the money they spend I really think something should be discovered to stop cancer.

The ball game wasn't cancelled. The special food booth we staff was dropped for the rest of the season. That was too bad because we like to do that and we earn a bit for funding our youth programs.

yesterday was busy. We played in a nursing home that is a bit of a drive. I worked outside in the morning. My flower beds really needed weeding. I have more to do today. These two days are without RAIN.... Finally!!!

Vicky your cottage sounds like a wonderful place to just enjoy the world and breath clean air. Enjoy the days you can get to stay there.

Blessing to all

Praying in agreement with you, Ann, that brain tumor is going to shrivel up, dry up and disappear, in Jesus name and we expect to hear a miraculous testimony from this young man!! Thank You, Jesus!

Got to go to the cottage for a couple days and I'm going back this weekend. Campmeeting is starting up there and I'd like to check it out. I grew up going to campmeeting. Hear some good preaching, fellowship with others, seeing the Holy Spirit move. It's wonderful.

Have a lovely day, all...

Vicky: I absolutely love hearing about opportunities where we get to share God's love and be the outstretched hand of God to someone who we meet! What a joy to take part in something like that! And in front of a family member too, that is a bonus to be sure. emoticon

Sue: I am glad you got a break so you did not have to work at the booth due to the Black Bears Baseball game being cancelled. I assume it was bad weather, and they were trying to keep people safe. emoticon

Greetings and best wishes to all of the other people in this group. We would love to hear from you!

Please pray for healing ..... emoticon Right now, I am praying as often as I can remember for a young man with a family who has been diagnosed with a brain tumour. They are giving him meds as he keeps having seizures. He cannot work. He looks and acts normal and yet they say he is terminal. The tumour is wrapped around his brain and they say that they cannot operate. Every time I see him,(like this afternoon at a buffet restaurant for his niece's Sweet Sixteen party) I remember the story where Jesus cursed the fig tree and it dried up. That is what I pray Lord you love him ....so I pray that you cause this brain tumour to just dry up and come away from His brain without damaging it at all. You can do it Lord! I say in the mighty name of Jesus to this thing inside of his head to be cursed, dry up and be sneezed out or however you want it to go Lord. Let this family have their dad and husband. I won't be surprised at all if it happens....but we will praise your name!

Food -At the buffet, I tried my best in all the temptation there - I had two helpings of the cucumber, tomato, red and green pepper salad in a vinagraite dressing. Also had cooked mushrooms in a broth....stayed away from the really shiny chinese veggies (msg). I had one tablespoon of potato salad. One! For meat, I had one skewer of chicken, and a helping of lemon chicken. For bread, I had one veggie spring roll, and a square piece of quesadilla with cheese, green and red peppers in it. I did not have any rice. I did have a bowl of lower fat ice cream and a diet coke.

Ann have a good time and enjoy. Vicky AI hope you get to the cottage.

We have a break because they cancelled the booth we were to do at the Black Bears Baseball game. Tomorrow will be church and then something we can choose..

Vicky that sounded like a wonderful experience with the witness of Gods blessings and love. We just do not have the mind to realize all the power available as God's children.

Blessings tomorrow to both of you and all our other friends.

Have a wonderful, relaxing staycation, Ann! I haven't been to the cottage in weeks. Too much going on here, but tomorrow I think I'm gonna go up at least for a few hours, maybe even overnight!

God sent us a divine appointment at Friday Night Light tonight. A young man named Romeo and his beautiful little girl. My teenage grandson got to see God in action, as my daughter listened to this young man's story, then she had the chance to tell him her story. She witnessed to him of God's love and God spoke to her to bless Romeo financially, so she did...and he cried. Even if we never see him and his little one again, God's love met him right there and then. All the work we do for Friday Night Light is worth it...

Have a good night, all...

You are right Sue - I believe my grandkids love going to places with us. We have a bit of a tradition going......spring its going to a maple syrup farm and eating pancakes, summer its Canada Day fireworks right across the street from our house in the park, fall is picking apples together, winter - Christmas and New Year's ....we don't venture out too much in the winter other than that. Our son reminds me that he liked picnics and camping in a tent which surprised me.

Have a great day Vicky and to one and all. I start a small vacation after work tonight. I will be doing the stay-cation thing for seven business days plus one weekend -- yippee!

Today is my baking day. I've done 2 and a half dozen blueberry turnovers and I think I'm going to do pumpkin bread or brownies.

Very warm out today. More humid than anything, I guess...

Not much else going on here...

We were in good shape when I retired. That was 1999 and then the prices went up and up. My retirement doesn't have a Cola (cost of living adjustment). My husbands doesn't either. We have managed and are still okay. A lot of public employees in WV are having it hard.

Yes prayers for all. I have a prayer list to keep me on track.

Today is the group that plays in the nursing homes meeting. at my house. We set up now the songs we play in July and August.

Where do the weeks go.

I saw an article on what to do with down time. I don't seem to have that and when I do I close my eyes and say Thank you Father for this bit of rest. Vicky enjoy the day off.

More tomorrow.

I'm pretty sure she/he was referring to our bowl of "Spaghetti O's " in our team picture! LOL! Hopefully she/he will join us in posting, so many other don't...

Great financial advice, Ann. I have 3 years to go until I retire, but I may work as a substitute, if it gets tough financially here, or, if I get bored. I'm already bored with this summer! Dr.'s appointments and hospital visits are not how I planned it! Thankfully, Dad got home last night so we'll see how he does. A lot of his problems are related to his eating habits. You eat what you want for your whole life, and then are told you can't have what you like. It's a big shock for him, going thru all that withdrawal...

I finally have a day at home, all by myself. What to do? What to do???

Have a lovely day, all...

Christian Spaghetti team sounds like an interesting name. I do not know of it though Sue. By the way Sue, I loved all of the comments you made regarding retirement and how everyone thinks you have so much time to give. I am happy to hear of how you handled these things and how to learn to say yes sometimes but also no when you have to.

God's blessing on all of us including those looking for complete healing and restoration (Holly, Vicky's dad, Terry, Sue and I for eyes, Sue's hubby, Sudie - we could make a long long list....God knows.) emoticon emoticon

Then prayers for those of us who are looking for inspiration to get healthy. No performance issues, no stress just healthy eating and exercise, drinking water, etc. Boy I find it so hard getting the water in. emoticon I know I have said it before but I think I am doing slightly better.

We are only looking for an update on one piece of info from my locked in pension from when I worked at another company, to finalize our net worth statement. It is my and my husband's project as I am about one year from retirement. Although I am turning 65 this August, I am continuing working until my younger than me hubby turns 65 next July. emoticon emoticon

It was all the company's money, we were not allowed to participate at all. It was a rather small amount, but I have had it there since I started working at my current place of employment. It has been growing for 29 years. The first five years I was getting 9 - 1/4% interest which is unheard of now. I only have the amount at 2011. I believe the newer documents were washed away by the flood in 2015, or we have filed it away under some unknown name! It feels good to have it down in Excel saved on my computer. I have put all the info including everything I might need later. emoticon

I am basing all of this planning on a great book, "Never Too Late. Take Control of Your Retirement and Your Future", sub-title "Start with as little as a dollar a day". We are certainly better off than just starting but I find it an interesting bookwritten emoticon by a Canadian author, Gail Vaz-Oxlade, one of Canada's most respected financial writers. I really like this quote, "Retirement planning should not be an exercise in frustration. It should be the conscious choice to make what you want of yuor future by setting aside the money you'll need to create your reality. If you set aside nothing - if you spend every red cent you make, and then some - you're making a choice. It won't be an easy one to live with later, but it is YOUR choice. Choose instead to put a little effort into building up a retirement nest egg and you'll be surprised how easy it is."

Hello, ladies! We've had a new member join named JUNEWALKER. She's added me as a friend but I can't get to her page. Just wondering if you've had any experience like that here...

Dad is still in the hospital but might possibly get home today. They're looking at the blood clot again today, so we'll see. Holly is basically back to normal, except she's in a size 10 now. So proud of my girl...

As for me, I'm not doing so great this week. My weight is back up and I'm fighting to get my water all in. For exercise this morning, I tore the bed down in the spare room and moved it into Holly's old room. Then I moved all the exercise equipment back into the spare room so it can be all together again. Now, if I would just go in there and use it!

Have a lovely day, all...

Ann it sounds like your husband is slowly improving. That is good. prayers for you both as you face retirement. You do know that retire is like regroup or re organize. It really means tired again. You have to learn to say no right a way for that not to happen. Everyone thinks that when you are retired you have time to do things for them I had a to do list when I retired in 1999 and a lot of the things are still waiting.

Vicky, prayers for you, your Dad and Holly still going on from here.

today my husbands colonoscopy was a good report. My eye doctor was pleased that the eye look mush healthier but I still have my appointment for the machlar degeneration next month. We are glad to be finished and home now at noon.

God bless you all

Wow, a lot happens when you just miss a day or two. I am sending prayers for Holly, your Dad, and Sue's hubby. My husband sure knows what it is like to have swollen legs, he is also believing for a complete healing from pain and no feeling in his legs and arms. Good news though, he will be going down to one day of PSW assistance soon. Maybe even this week. From being so very ill in December 2015 now he is doing pretty good. He went from 7 days a week PSW, to 5 days a week, and recently 3 days a week. He is using the cane much more now - getting over his pride somewhat. I do understand that and now as of end of July he has decided to stop driving. That will be a hard one as well. Anyway, I am encouraging you that even though things look bad, they can certainly improve. We do not lean on our own understanding but run into the arms of a loving Lord and Saviour and he hears our prayers. We worked on our Net Worth statement this weekend. Almost done....why I am approaching 65 and will probably retire next year end of July. Gotta get ready!!! I am afraid I love to be organized and know what I am facing. Blessings to all.

Well, no shock for Dad's heart. It seems he has a blood clot in an appendage of the heart, so they're trying to dissolve it with meds. Shocking him could have made him stroke out! God can make it completely disappear! The swelling in his legs has gone down a lot, and last night he seemed more like his old self. What a relief! I know Mom is so tired, and to top it all off, today is my brother's annual family picnic and car cruise. Dad is upset to miss it, especially since the hospital is only a mile from my brother's home. He was going to cancel it, but both Mom & Dad said no. So, another cobbler went into the oven yesterday...

It's a beautiful morning. Have a blessed Sunday, all...

Yes I will pray for your Dad. Also, for you, Vicky, You have a lot right now.

AI am glad to hear that Holly is doing well. Please keep her out of the car. A really big jolt can cause a lot of pain.

Here we are in July. I don't know how June went so fast.
God Bless us all

Sue, it looks like a wonderful time!

Please pray for my dad, Nathan. He's been in the hospital for a few days with extremely swollen legs and feet. He's having trouble breathing and has an irregular heartbeat. Today, they are going to shock his heart to try to get it into rhythm.

Holly is doing well. She snuck out and was driving the other day, so I threatened to make her come here for the next 2 weeks until the surgeon releases her to drive, and I was serious.

Gonna be a long day for me...

Glad to hear from you both.
We live a little south of Morgantown. We are just below the Pa line. No flooding here.
Glad Holly is doing well.

A little tired today. I was expecting about 28 but several were no shows an we only had 17. It was a fun afternoon of music. It took a lot to get ready. Several helped by bringing cookies etc.

My house ready for the music afternoon and the group.

Hoping all is well with y'all. I remember we went to visit my hubby's sister in Muskogee Oklahoma quite a few years ago and that is some long distance trip. We could not get there because of flooding. Had to suffice with visiting other parts of the US. We called her and we sent her a box of chocolates by parcel post. She eventually got it!

Had beautiful turkey burgers for supper with cooked onion, and cooked yellow and green peppers. Yummy

Holly and Bob are on their way back to the surgeon's office in Pittsburgh, hopefully to get her drains removed, and in a little while, Haylee and I are headed to Franklin for her counselor's appointment. Busy Tuesday. but I am thankful for a break in the heat. Sue, are you anywhere near the flooding? I have family in Dille, near Summerville, I think it is. I'm not sure how they're doing either. God keep you all safe...

Well hello everyone! I only have five minutes before work starts for me. The most wonderful news is Holly having surgery and recovering and believing God for a complete restoration. I second that Amen!

I love your pictures Sue, especially the one with your new ornament (cat) on the top of your highest cupboard. I believe that spot has been claimed now. You may see a flag on it declaring it as discovered land for the cat kingdom!

Well, I did have ice cream last night when babysitting. However it was part of our meal and it was not sneaking and eating alone. That has to count for something.

When we were singing at the seniors home, a lady asked us to sing the hymn Jesus Loves Me (Senior version) next month. I got a copy of it, it is cute.

Well I must be off to work - have a blessed day everyone!

P.S. I would love to hear from the rest of you too.......busy time of the year I know! emoticon

Cronos is the mouser. Snoopy is exactly that. He loves to hide under things and he always check to see where i am and what is going on. He is pretty laid back. Cronos is busy and sits waiting only if he thinks there is something to find.

Our dog Teddy had his grooming last Friday. He is ready for company. My bother and his wife will be here Wednesday. They will hear the Lowrey organist play here on Thursday. I think I am up now to almost 30 people coming.

Baking today. Made cookies and gluten free cookies. Today is brownies and what ever else I can get ready for Wed. and Thurs. I'll let you know how Thursday goes.

Sue

Prayers for all especially Holly

Sue, they say cats like to be up high. Cleo likes to sit on our stair post at the bottom of the steps. If you happen to walk by, she will reach out and tap you on the shoulder.

I may actually have a day to myself tomorrow. So much to catch up on, starting with laundry.

It was a nice relaxing Sunday here. Hope you all got a chance to relax a little, too...

Still prayers for Holly to heal. Wonderful that you dropped the weight. Good for you.

The dog will love you after a while. They are just glad you are back.

We hunted for our cat Snoopy for a long time and then thought he might have gotten out someway. I went into the kitchen and picked something up and saw his ears. I have cleaned about the cabinets and there is nothing up there any more . I guess he thought that was a good point to watch everyone. Sue

Hello, all! I'm finally home for a little while. Holly is doing well and I'm hoping I can trust her to behave herself at home alone until the kids get back home today. God is so good. The doctor told her she probably wouldn't get a hundred percent satisfaction from the surgery, but God told her she would! She has to wear a binder for the next month. She'll be going back to Pittsburgh to have the drains removed on Tuesday. Bob is going to take her, because I have to take Haylee to an appointment the same day, and I refuse to drive in Pittsburgh. I cannot breathe in that city...

My dog is mad at me because I was gone. Brat!

And, I lost all the weight I regained. Now, back to work...

Have a lovely day, all...

Ann wonderful. I am glad you are enjoying the playing in the nursing homes. I really understand about the popcorn and tootsie roll. .

Wee AI have had two days of wonderful music. Thursday night we went to a dinner and music show presented by a Lowrey organist. Dennis Awe. He is really great. . He has perfomed with many great entertainers Connie Francis, The Inkspots, Ed McMahon, Johnny Carson, Red Skelton, Debbie Reynolds and many others. He also does a Liberace.. Today I drove to Greensburg Pa to the music store where he was giving pointers on playing your Lowrey organ. It was great too. He had one of his Liberace coats on part of the time. We drove to a Lowrey Home Organ Party in Chicago where the Lowrey factory is located and heard him play then too. I took a me day and had fun. Sue

Sue: You certainly are a going concern. I love that you bring so much joy into other people's lives You most certainly have the gift of hospitality.

We went to volunteer at church last night. Not very busy at all. We ended the night with popsicles. The Healing Rooms have had their last night until September. We were going to take July off but our Pastor suggested we also take a break for the month of August - a lot of us will be on vacation so that makes sense.

We will be going to play to the Retirement Home this Sunday. Some of our numbers will be down but Holy Spirit will be there too so no concern here. I am beginning to know more and more of the older songs they like. However, I still love my contemporary Christian music that has a beat and you can dance to!

I had a success story last time I babysat at the grands overnight. I only had low fat popcorn and one tootsie roll. Now that may not sound like success to you. Trust me I usually have to get into the ice cream but not this time.

I actually went for a walk in the terrible heat on June 20th. Leave it to me to start exercising again in the extreme weather! (39 degrees celcius)

Be blessed everyone!

Ann

Ann sorry to hear of such sadness. Our church member was diagnosed and three weeks later gone. He was only 60 and his son had just finished FBI school. His funeral was last Friday. Our church got a lunch together for the family and friends after the service. We served 126 people that day. There was plenty of food left and we sent it home with his family. Many stopped by to say thank you. They came in from all over the country. They sat and ate and talked. The thanked us over and over.

Today after church is a busy time. Dave and I and a couple other Kiwanis members will be working the concession at the Black Bears Baseball game. We earn money for youth service programs.

I will let you know how it goes.

Hello to one and all:

You guys have been talking about weight. I am sure I have gained somewhat as my midriff bulge is bulgier! I have not been on the scales lately. I know I have been eating pretty healthy but I think my problem lately is eating at night when I babysit overnight at the grands. We don't have cable tv at home and they do. So I stay up later and all those food commercials get me. emoticon I need to plan for next time I go overnight to bring cut up veggies and fruit and munch on that instead of ice cream which is always in the freezer and sometimes other stuff too. emoticon emoticon

We went to a memorial service for one of our friends at church who died very painfully from cancer. All his life he was a joke teller. We found out today that his wife's brother was just like him and they told each other jokes all the time. His wife Sharon said, I can stand my brother telling jokes and I can stand my husband telling his silly jokes, but when they get together it is just too much for me. emoticon

Ron had not been feeling good and at first they thought he might need a kidney transplant. Then he was told he had about three days to live, everybody prayed for him and he rallied, he seemed to get better for a while, then about a week later he died. His wife was so upset that they had a cremation and waited until Father's Day weekend (today) to have the memorial service. His whole family was there today and perhaps waiting a bit was a good thing. His wife seemed better and had some time to rest after being in the hospital with him every day and got so tired out.

We heard some wonderful stories about how he kept his sense of humour and was surrounded with sheets, hats, pictures of the Minions, his favourite. He never went to see the movies, but just liked those silly guys. Pictures were shown in a video tribute that people wore Minion hats when visiting him etc.

Our pastor spoke well of him and read a Bible verse from Job where Job kept his faith in his time of pain and did not curse God and die. Our pastor commented on the difference is Ron had his family circling around him and he was never alone in that hospital room. You could see the love when his grandkids talked at the memorial service. He was a good guy.

Ron's hair was kind of like a butler cut. He had hair around the sides and the back of his head. But it was bald on top. One of the memories I had of Ron was when they came back from a summer in Florida, Ron seemed to have sprouted a head of blond hair, poking out of his baseball cap. (He always wore a baseball cap). I kept looking at him and thought did he use a tonic or was the sun so good there in Florida that he actually had his hair grow? Nope, He had a special baseball cap on that had hair attached! We laughed about that and still chuckle today.

We will see him again one day! Thanks be to Jesus! emoticon

I gained when we were on vacation. Not so much in Florida but when we took Aunt Barbara out to dinners. She also likes a dessert at night. I joined a challenge today to try to revamp my plan. I know we go up and down but I really want to get down again to the weight on my drivers license. Then drop a few more so I can stay there.

It is always a challenge.

Today is clean cupboards in Kitchen. te walls look so nice and the cupboards need to be cleaned and stuff put in the lawn sale.

I've gained...I can tell without getting on the scales. And I have a family reunion today. Trying not to stress eat, but it seems I am. I'm not getting my water in either. Back to square one...

I got rid of most of my dishes a couple of years ago. Gave all the old ones to Holly and went and bought a new set, just 4 servings, then added a couple of extra for good measure. New set of glasses, too. Now, freezer containers are another story...

We had two new people join us at Friday Night Light last night. I'm pretty sure they'll be back next Friday. One gentleman wanted to take all my leftovers home, because he doesn't get them very often. I hope he's not diabetic. I'll ask him next week...

Well, it's gonna be hot and gorgeous out today. You all have a lovely day...

Prayers fo Holly and both of you (Ann and Vicky). Thank you for coming to this thread and posting. I am so glad to have this place to visit with you.

today it is clean out the kitchen cabinets. Not all will get done. Everything out and 50% back inside. the rest goes out the door or in a lawn sale.

Prayers for you both and Holly.

Vicky:

Prayers are coming your way for Holly. It is so nice she can get assistance from her loved ones as she recovers.

Sounds like you all have been quite busy. I have been trying to get the files straightened up in our office (our third bedroom is set up like an office). I am pretty sure I will be retiring the end of July next year, 2017 and I actually start to receive my Canada Pension soon. I turn 65 on August 10th this year, but will continue to work until Terry my hubby reaches 65. So for a while I will get my pay plus pension. I want all that money to go to paying off line of credit and bills, so I can launch into retirement with no concerns even though I have less money to spend.

I am also working on another big bag of clothes to give away to the Salvation Army.

Everyone have a great Father's Day weekend.

I love the colour of your kitchen it really appeals to me. Our house still has the paint on from when we built it and still looks pretty good - and we have been there since 2002. But I am getting tired of the colour....so it just might be on my list of things to do.

Prayers for Holly. Le us know how it goes. I pray the doctor will carefully do his work. Also that healing comes quickly.

I am starting to get rid of things. We need to move to a smaller place. This is too big to keep up and the outside is a lot of work too. Too much stuff everywhere.

Ann, what a lovely gift! I know here we have handbag exchange parties. I need to get invited to one of those so I can get rid of a few purses. I counted 13 in the downstairs closet alone.

Sue, I love the color of the kitchen! I've been busy here, too. Got the carpets scrubbed in the living room and dining room. I think tomorrow I'll tackle the area rugs and leave the kitchen carpet for last. Holly's surgery is Monday and I'll be at her place for maybe a couple of weeks. I just didn't want to leave everything until I get back. When I do get back, I'm going to start cleaning out drawers. I do not like that job...

Have a great night, all...

Hello All: I wanted to share a neat thing that happened to me. On Tuesday, I received a package.... it was clear plastic and it was given to me by the lady who works in our coffee shop, so I figured it was food. However, I could not see what was inside because it had redish, pinkish tissue paper. It had a tag on it to me from two ladies I work with.

I opened it up and found four (4) lovely costume jewelry brooches. One was in the shape of a circle, pearls with two or three sparkling glass beads. Another was golden with black touches. (Later on, I was told it was from Spain ), one was definitely 60's flavor with two silver half circles colliding and the last one was golden coloured and it was like a rose bouquet. I loved them all.
emoticon

I then remembered that the one lady had told me the week before that she was going to a jewelry exchange and since she didn't need anything, what if anything was I attracted to. I had said brooches, especially from the past, 50's or 60's.

I felt like it was my birthday emoticon and that isn't til August. This was my reward.

I was having a great day before, but this really boosted my spirits.

These two ladies had gone to this event and each gave me two brooches. That is sister-ly love from co-workers. Mind you, they are not even in my department. One was from Finance and the other was from Information Management. We all work in the same building though and met each other from lunch time.

Neat eh? (eh is a Canadian word we feel we must add to any communication!)

Hello, all. Finally had a day to start my spring cleaning! Got my pantry and kitchen done and moved everything out of the living room so I could scrub my carpet in there. That meant rolling up the area rug, too, which will be scrubbed at a later date. Just left the TV stand and the couch in there for now. I did find a spot where my dog has been peeing when I'm gone, so, since I cannot trust her, she cannot be out of her room when I go away. I thought she was doing so well. The cat, however, I can trust!

Oh, yeah, I ended the school year at the same weight as when I started! Had quite a few ups and downs, but I know at least I know I can maintain my weight when I reach goal!

Monday and back on track. Lots of weeds in the garden and many of my perennials didn't come back. I have been planting annuals in the bare spots now fro 2 days. Looks better.
My tomato plants really grew while we were away.

I'd like to get my kitchen painted this week. We will see.
Prayers for all. Summer is here. Have a good time.

Greetings everyone! so glad to hear that things are going fairly well for everyone...Ann, I will keep you in my prayers for your eyes. Went on a road trip yesterday with a friend to see 2 other friends of ours about 2 hours away, and had a wonderful time. I went to Ross and found a beautiful white lace skirt for summer. Friends are one of life's greatest blessings.

Ann, glad your eyes are doing okay. My next check is next month.

this was a busy week. I thought it would be slower but things just pop up.
I am looking forward to tomorrow and lunch with friends.

I received a letter in the mail today that tells what we are doing at the 60th High School Class reunion. I am determined to be at the weight on my drivers license by august and maybe even less. Got to look good after 60- years from our graduation. WooHoo!!!!

With God helping me be strong and my goad to get myself straightened up this summer I should be ready by August for the reunion.

Hello everyone: I read your posts to get a quick update. My eyes seem to be doing pretty good, only bothered by allergies right now. I am so glad I have my two pairs of glasses as they really help.

Hubby fell again, but not too bad on Tuesday some scrapes and bruises. He just keeps getting up and going again.

Hello and back on track. Gained 4 pounds in that last week. Now setting goals to get back to the weight on my drivers license emoticon

My flower beds really need help so that will take off a bit of this too.

School is out here. Vicky I hope you are able to enjoy the summer and relax.

Ann How are the eyes doing??? I go for my appointment again in a few weeks.

We were so blessed on this trip. The weather was good in Florida while we were there and then the storm came in. The weather was good in Myrtle Beach and we could take Aunt Barbara where she needed to go. Some construction on on the road but clear driving conditions during the 4 driving days.
God has blessed us

Yes, thank you, Rose!

Sue, I'm glad you had a wonderful trip home.

Just got back from mom&dad's. I don't usually make the trip during the week, but Bob was going up to paint the garage doors, so I went along, with the stipulation that I didn't have to do anything. Today was rough at work, but only 3 more days to go! Then MY summer starts!

Have a lovely evening(or what's left of it) all...

I understand about the work when you are away and come home. I know we will be busy as the grass will be really high and the weeds in the garden and flowerbed will be growing. The other house sitter we had would clean the house up before we got home. I paid her extra for that. The young man at the house now will just be there and leave.

This is our last day and we have not had rain except at night. I am hoping for no rain on the driving trip tomorrow. It is about 10 hours to home.

Prayers for your daughters surgery to be done right and she has a good recovery.

Oh, Sue, I hate it when vacations go by too quickly. Weekends at the cottage are never long enough either. We didn't even go this weekend because there is too much to catch up on around here. Bob is getting ready to head up to my parents house. I think he's going to be painting their shutters to match the new metal roof they just had put on. I am staying home to put my feet up and relax. We spent the morning up at our daughter's place, Bob, to replace her kitchen faucets and find the leak in the bathroom, and me, to play with my grand puppy, Gear. He's a 6 year old dachshund, and he only likes the 5 of us and nobody else. I'll be staying there after Holly's surgery in a couple of weeks, so we'll have plenty of time to play then...

I'm so thankful it's cooled down. The kitchens at work must have been at least 110 or more this last week. I was useless when I got home...

Enjoy your weekend, all...

We just missed the rain in FLorida and so far here in Myrtle Beach it has been sunshine. It looks like we will drive home in rain.

Today we are taking Aunt Barbara shopping. She is 88 and has some health problems but still drives short distances. Dave has fixed a few things for her and today we are driving a ways to go to a store she likes.

I am not sure I am ready to go home yet. Monday is coming too fast.

Glad to see everyone here. Today was weigh in day here at my house. Gail gained, I lost, and Betsy called off! Maybe next week will be better for everyone.

Six more school days! The kids are getting pretty wild and more parents are showing up for lunch. Makes it hard to judge how much food to make. Friday the whole first grade has a field trip so Betsy and I are going to be doing our end of year cleaning. Monday is field day, where everyone grabs a sack lunch and goes outside. There are games and lots of outside things to do. Another cleaning day. I'm ready to start sleeping in...'til 7 instead of 5:30!

Hope you all are enjoying the sunshine...
