Hello everyone! Happy Fall! I know it is not technically fall until the 21st, but I think fall is the first of September (Ha) Anyway, I have been noticing the favor of God in quite a few areas of my life, how about you! May you all have a blessed day, and let's keep each other in prayer! Blessings, Rose

Hello all:

I believe we start weighing in at work sometime in September on Wednesdays again (totally volunteer, but I like it)

Vicky: Two pounds are nothing once we all get back in the swing of things. emoticon

I return to work on September 8th.

Sue: You always keep on keeping on. My oh my, you are a wonder.

Today I go for my second laser treatment on my eye. It is at 9:30 a.m. Looking forward to seeing better emoticon

Bonus, I have decided to become mature at 64 and have been recording my blood sugar like a good girl. I am pleased with myself....should have been doing it all along. I have had pretty good results.

Had a great time yesterday with the grandkids, my hubby and daughter in law. First we went to a place called Adventures on Wonderland. Kids play place which usually costs $10 each child but it was their 15th anniversary, so the entrance fee was only $1.50 for each child. We were there for 3 hours! They loved it.....we got to talk with our daughter in law at length. Free popcorn too.

Then we went off to Costco and spent some more time there together.

Blessings to one and all.

Ann Blessings on you for a good talk. That sounds like it was so good for those listening.

Vicky I understand th 2 pounds up. We had company and were busy all weekend. i weigh in on Monday. and was up 2 also. I get within 2 pounds of where I set my goal and something comes up. We just have to work it off.

Well, September is here and now we start the fall busy time. Our friend that stays a couple nights with us is back at WV"U and here on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. New schedule.

Half way through this week and moving a long well. I hope all of you are doing well too.

Oh my, sounds like you kept their attention! Wonderful job!

Just got home a bit ago from work. I start for real next Tuesday. Felt better today than I did a couple of weeks ago when I worked. Back in the groove...

Not at all pleased with my weight! I went up 2 pounds. Could be fluid, but still, I don't want to carry that around!

Hope you all are enjoying this lovely HOT day. At least here in Pa., it's very hot...

Hello to everyone and especially the new members. You did a great thing when you joined Sparkpeople. We are all pulling together for you and pray that your evening will be relaxing for you.

Our team went to the Retirement Home to sing and it was great. I was asked to give my testimony so I just got the start of it and left the rest to the Holy Spirit. You cannot do a testimony of your whole life in 15 minutes, so I just started with introducing myself and since it was still August (barely) I let them know August was my birthday month and was there anyone else in the room that had a b'day in August and two people did. I asked them the dates and said Happy Birthday, in this case it was belated but they seemed to like it.

I talked about one of my presents was a coat and there was a tag on it that said Wind Resistant and another one that said Rain Resistant and that it was made of a different new kind of material. But the part I liked best was a warm knitted collar that made me feel cosy.

Then I said it reminded me of another winter coat I had, but it was a snowsuit. Being a child of the fifties, it was made of warm material and kept me warm but it was definitely not snow resistant. As my 7 or 8 year self played in the snow it became more and more loaded down with snow and got heavier and heavier and then it was hard to walk with the heavy snowsuit.
When I would get home, I was glad to shed off that sodden, heavy snowsuit and escape!

Then I said when i gave my heart to the Lord, in my 24th year ....to me it was like taking off a heavy, snow sodden snowsuit and throwing it to the ground, to freedom! And another thing I said or another way to express how I felt at that time, is to compare a snowy tv that you can sort of see the action after fiddling with the antenna by the way of rabit ears to a big vivid colour movie screen. They were actually paying attention!

The Holy Spirit edged me on from there and boy did that fifteen minutes go fast. I remember that the last part was I had asked the Lord what did he want me to say when I was thinking about what I would say about a day beforehand. He seemed to say to me that He wanted them to know that they are not alone. Not when circumstances seem impossible, like health concerns or financial troubles. So I boldly said that to them. I said I did not hear an audible voice or anything but that was what I sensed.

emoticon Anyways, we all took part in singing some of the older hymns and the last one we did was Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty. You know we sing more of the modern worship and praise songs at church, but when we all sang that you could feel the presence of the Lord come into the room.

It was awesome! Have a wonderful Sunday evening.

Ann

Vicky, your cottage sounds great!! I am glad you are going to have the house ready for winter. My flower beds were so good and then my dog Jack that is blind and is diabetic would walk through and pee so the plants died. I have to work again but it has to wait until next year.

Ann, Glad to hear you are relaxing. That is good because the September reuch is coming. I think everything starts up in September. My tomatoes didn't do well at all. The butternut squash grew me 15 squashes. I also need to rethink what I plant. I did get a few peppers.
Gardens are tricky.

We worked the concession stand at the Black Bears' game Thursday night and it was really busy. we had 4 waters left and about 6 diet coke and 6 regular coke. Al the brats and big pretzels were gone. All the beer too. It was easy to count to check out. It was fun but the Bears lost 8 to 1.

Sunday and facing a new week. I am taking a big breath and pushing on to keep going. Also, September is starting and I still can't see how so many days have gone so fast.

Hello to everyone and prayers for you

Hello: I just read all of your postings. You have been busy. Vicky: that cottage sounds so dreamy!

Hey everyone: Thanks for the book titles I will check them out.

I have been on vacation, rather a staycation. I have been very lazy other than doing appointments. We went to a nearby town yesterday and went to a park. The first week is gone.

I went to the optometrist, got my hair coloured and cut. Went to get my teeth cleaned. I am so mavellous, darling. Now from now on, it is chillaxing. If you have time, take a look at my blog - its a praise report called The Eyes Have It!

My garden, small though it is, is still producing grape tomatoes. The beefsteak tomato plant has not produced well at all. One good one, one split one that never grew bigger and all my hope are on the teeny weeny one still on the vine.

I got a mum plant for my birthday, but it did not last more than one week. The green leaves are still there, but that is all.

So that is why the grape tomato plant is my shining star! emoticon I think I have got the urge to go bigger next year!

God bless us everyone!

Wow, Sue, you're right! I can't believe I haven't posted all week. Been crazy around here. The guys put in my windows yesterday, all 14 of them, but there is still some trim work to be done, so they'll be back on Monday to finish up. Next comes the insulation, and when winter hits, my house should be all cozy and warm! The thing is, I clean before the guys come, then I have to clean again when they leave! And I still think I have a couple of picture switched and on the wrong walls...oh, well...

Today we are heading up to the cottage. Last week, we put a door on the bathroom(before they just had a curtain hanging) and today we're gonna finish the wall. I recovered my father in law's old rocking chair to take up, and made a new throw pillow for the couch. I'd like to get at those flower beds, but I think they're going to have to wait for another time. We've cleaned them out and only left a couple of sad looking ferns. It needs more dirt put in so I'll have to pick some up.

Hope you all are doing well. I've kinda stalled, but it will pick up again...

Where did this week go??? We worked outside to clean up for fall and I added mums in the flower bed. WE helped a friend and her mom mover from one apartment to another. Last night we worked the concession at the Black Bear's game. It was really busy.

My daughters birthday, her husband's birthday and their anniversary all hit at once. On Wednesday one of my friends was 90. I really have avoided the birthday cakes.

You are all in my prayers and I will try to stay on the computer a little more often.

Hello everyone. Just got the devotional "God's Word is Food". It looks very interesting and I will be starting it September 1st. I will let you know how it is. I would recommend "Made to Crave" by Lisa Tykerkeust....if you are looking for a book about how to deal with your food issues and spiritual walk with God. Hope everyone has a good week and let's remember to pray for one another. Blessings-Rose.

Happy Sunday, everyone! Bob & I spent the weekend at the cottage, him painting, me recovering chairs and sitting around reading, and both of us chasing Hopi down when she jerked the leash out of my hands. I hate it when she does that! But I do know I love it up there. We drove around the streets of town(If you can call it that), but there's not much in that area. They have a Dollar General, an ice cream stand, a really good restaurant, and a hardware. No grocery store! Nothing else! The next town, about 10 mile away there's a Walmart, Giant Eagle, Save a Lot, and plenty of places to eat. Since we had the dog, we stuck pretty close to the campground.

Hope you all are having a lovely day...

Vicky - Your Dad is in my prayers. 81 is not so old as I get closer to that age. I pray for your Mom and Your Family. It is hard when a parent is ill. It is at a time when we are the in between person for our children and our parent. Both need our assistance at times.

I'd like to hear about books you are reading too. It seems I enjoy things when i know a bit about the subject and someone gives a referral.

My company just left. Now get the house back in working order. I have to get back on my plan too.

Prayers for all

Talking about books, I read one quite some time ago called, More of Jesus, Less of Me. I cannot remember the author but it was good. Sounds like the ones you ordered are good too so you should let us know when you are done if they are worth it. I know God loves us just the way we are, but He also hears our prayer s and wants to give us the desires of our heart as well.

Good morning, all. I have a prayer request for my dad. He's been sick for the last week, and Mom is really worried. He doesn't want to go to the doctor because he figures he'll be put in the hospital. He'll be 81 in November...

Thanks...

It looks like I will be busy for the next few days.
So far I am still holding my weight. I still have 3/5 pounds to get to my weight on my drivers license. We have too many food interruptions.

I will be there one of these days. Sue

Sounds like everyone is busy. I have been working toward my brother and wife's visit. My place is looking good and I hope it stys. I think I am calling this fall cleaning. Windows and all are done.

The grass is turning brown and the leaves are still falling off the Willow tree. I know summer is fading. I am not sure I am ready for September to start and every one has more activities starting. I am learning to say no.

Enjoy this week. We can do this together.

Home from my first real day back at work. Oh, school won't start for another couple of weeks, but I had to help prepare and serve for another educational outfit in Grove City. 7 hours that kicked my butt! And today it's 88 degrees outside, so just imagine what it is inside where the ovens and dishroom are! It was good to be back, even for just today.

Weightloss Bible Study tonight, so I'd better head to the showers...

Greetings to Rose, Vicky, Sue, and all of my sparkfriends. Bless you all in your day today.

I have only a few minutes today before my lunch is done. I had an old fashioned lunch today. 2 Multigrain toast with peanut butter and jam on each slice. Reminds me of my school days! I ate each slice separately to make it last longer. Also, I used the packages like you get at a restaurant so I had the right amount. I also had a yogurt low fat that had a coconut flavour. Diet gingerale to whet my whistle and some hot water to take back to my office which is supremely cold, sweater wearing cold! Outside it is very hot, dangerously hot with a 40 Degree Celcius when you combine the humidex. emoticon

Last night we were taken out to dinner at Montana's Restaurant from Terry's nephew and niece from Manitoba. They paid. I tried to pick something reasonable in cost value and also in food value. I had a salad with goat cheese, apple pieces, greens, onion and a few sprinkled in pecans. The waitress tried to get me to add chicken and I said no thanks. I had orange pekoe tea with lemon.

Woops I have to return to work from lunch.

Ann

Hello everyone,

Vicky that sounds like a good ting. It must be just right for you. Now you plan to go and enjoy it. Your own get away.

Ann, Thanks for the note. I tart my day with what I want to feel like and that is where most of the comments come from.

Summer is coming to a close, the grass is turning brown, and we have leaves falling from the willow tree. Where did summer go?? Thanks to everyone for the comments and notes on our forum. It sure helps to have support from other Christians.

Happy Sunday morning, all! Gonna be a warm one here today. Hope it's nice where you all are.

Yes, we bought the cottage!!! We still have paperwork and stuff to fill out for the church camp, but it's basically a done deal. We're taking the daughter and grands up to see it after church today. Funny thing, they used the same material to make the curtains that I used to cover my camper cushions! Ha!

Have a wonderful Sunday, all...

Hello everyone...Rose here. I am having a better time since I have been letting go of some issues and turning them over to God. He is the only one who can provide the solutions. I read today that we can pray for deliverance, but we really need to believe that God will deliver on His promises. Hope everyone has a great day, and blessings to all of you!

Mellie: Good for you -- you inspire me!

Vicky - That cottage sounds inviting and boy we all need a place to relax. Did Bob get up in time?

Sue: I left a message on the team wall or team posting place or whatever it is called these days.

Hey everyone:

I had a gorgeous lunch today with salad and vinegraite dressing, red pepper hummus with two types of crackers (low salt), then I had in my lunchbag the biggest black coloured plum I have ever seen and it was the size of a beefsteak tomato. I cut it up into slices and it was luscious (remember I am spoiled and my hubby packs it so it is always a surprise)

I have my two weeks vacation booked starting Aug. 24 and the first week I have made a bunch of appts. so as to leave the second week to chillaxing!

Bye for now - to all my sparkfriends

Belated Happy Birthday Ann. Sounds like you are getting ready for winter too. Vicky has gotten house things done. We still have a bit to do too.

Mellie, Good to have you back and good to hear you are planning to go for the run.

Went to a picnic at one of the lady's that plays in the group. She lives way out on a hill and it was just beautiful. The food was good too. I ended up putting the whole meal in for the day. Today back on the plan.

Company coming This Wednesday. My brother and his wife. I have to plan some of the spark recipe's for diabetics for my brother. This will be healthy eating days.

Stay well everyone. Sue

Oh, Mellie, that sounds like a fun 5K. I'd do it!

I'm going to look at a cottage in a church camp today. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna buy it. I just want some where to get away from home once in a while. It's about 60 miles from here. It's really cute and sits at the end of the row by the woods. Now, if Bob would just get out of bed so we can go...

My eating was really good this week, until Mr. Bob brought home subs from Subway last night, and NOT the low fat ones! Didn't want to hurt his feelings, so I ate. Haven't had that many carbs all week...still, my weight is down!!!

Well, you all have a lovely day...

Well I am tired of being lazy (lol) so I am back in action on sparkpeople. I am going to try to start most of my work day mornings by with the "Classical Stretch" on PBS. I enjoyed it this morning though my ribcage is already a little sore. I am also planning to walk a 5k on Sept 12 at an amusement park before it opens. Blessings to you all!

Hey Vicki, we are also having someone come to look at our front door tonight. For a house we had built and is only 12 years old, it sure is drafty. Perhaps he can fix or perhaps we have to get a new one. Also looking at a storm door with a screen so we can let the "winds of change" in. One that lets the screen retract into the door.

Yesterday was my birthday! I can now legally sing Paul McCartney's "When I'm 64" Yipes! Well part of that song talks about losing my hair -- well that hasn't happened! I do have the grandchildren bouncing on my knee....a wonderful thing that is.

Last night we went out to Tony Romas restaurant and I had grilled salmon with a skewer of shrimp, onions and red pepper. It came with rice and broccoli. Yum double yum. That was pretty good and I belong to their birthday club so I got $19.00 off so that was good too. I have to admit we did have dessert but we shared it. So not so bad.

My present from my husband went on and on. Well you have heard of flower bouquets, but have you heard of fruit bouquets? I wanted a kit that I could make up my own. It has a punch that cuts fruit into different shapes, then you use a skewer and put the different fruit shapes on the skewer and into a container and voila you have a fruit bouquets. I also got a video, re: Denver and the Mile High Orchestra....it is a Christian band....they were on American Idol or one of those types of shows and went pretty far about three years ago. Then he gave the opportunity to have a pedicure manicure experience. (No he did not do it, I am going to a professional)

I don't care how old I get I love to celebrate birthdays.....by the way my grandaughter Abby was born on my birthday and she turned 7 years ...we had a family b'day party on Sunday past. It was fun....we played the Bible Game a DVD game.

New door is in and fire alarms installed. Just got home from my friend, Deb's house. Went for a little visit. We were supposed to have weight loss Bible study, but since it was just the 2 of us, we decided to wait until next week to get back at it when the others can be there.

Nothing much else going on, how about you all???

Three pounds down that is great!! It is so hard to stay on track when others are around. It is good to hear your sister is doing well too.

Vicky, glad you are getting things done. Our paper says that school starts for kid on Wed. Aug. 19. I pray you get all you house things done in time for when you have to go back.

Today is catch up and unpack morning. We play today and tomorrow at nursing homes.
Well, here we go and start another week. Prayers for all.

Yea! Three pounds!!! Good for you!

Today we had a service in Titusville, about 50 mile from here. Then out to dinner with our CMA chapter members, then Bob & I headed home. They were all going for a motorcycle ride and ice cream, but I had enough sun last weekend on that motorcycle to last me a while. I'm still peeling!

Vacation weight is slowly coming off but at least it is coming off. I left half my lunch on the plate today...

The guy is coming to install a new back door for us tomorrow, and also our new fire alarms. Someone forgot to order our new windows so they won't be in until the 19th, and I have to remember to ask him when they're gonna put in our insulation. So much to get done before I go back to work...

Get a good night sleep, all. We can start fresh tomorrow...

We were very busy at the park and I didn't get much time to do any internet. We are home safe and glad to be here. It was beautiful and the deer were something to watch. The whole area is so green Usually in August everything is brown.

Now to get back on track AGAIN!!! I was careful but not perfect.

Just got back from our campout at my mom&dad's. Our camper is set up on the back of their property. Hopi is NOT a camper, happy or otherwise. She spent most of the night jumping back and forth from bed to bed...very annoying.

Happy belated birthday Vicki! emoticon The recumbent bike seems more and more interesting to me. As soon as I get better at the exercise my physiotherapist gave me, I am going downstairs to dry it.

Congratulations Sue yippee for you! (PS I hope you notice that rhymes) You probably made your doctor's day emoticon

Hello to everyone! I see some new faces on the member list. I would love to hear from you and everybody else would too!

Still recovering from my weekend sun/wind burn. When you have to ride 300 plus miles to get home on the back of the bike, you get a lot of both. My weight also went up, but then I always retain fluid when I'm traveling. I'm doing better now, but I still have a pound to lose to get back to where I was when I left. Then, yesterday was my birthday, and my well meaning husband bought me an ice cream cake, and my daughter brought me a coconut cream pie. Somehow I managed to squeak in under my calorie limit, but needless to say, I didn't have much of a supper. I have been riding my recumbent bike 4 miles a day for the last few days. My knee feels better when I do.

Sue I'm so glad for good reports for you from the doctor.

So, what have you all been up to?

Yesterday was my doctor's appointment. Was she pleased. It looks like I will be around afew more years. I was down in weight and my blood pressure was good. I just need to go for the Mammogram.

We go to Cacapon State Park for the WV Division Kiwanis meeting this weekend. I am going to watch what food I eat. It seem like everything is always around food.

Summer is almost gone. Enjoy what is left.

Ann Good For you. Your getting around better and having some time for vacation. I liked the way you made choices at the buffet. Today is a hard day for me. We have a lunch meeting at the Hibachi Japanese Restaurant at noon. This evening we are going to a wedding at a farm. The young lady that dog and house sits for us is getting married. The wedding is on the grooms parents farm. It is at 7 pm and we are to dress comfortably.
It worries me because the doctor's appointment is next Wednesday so I have to be careful today with food eveyrwhere. I am going to re read how you chose the items so I am careful tonight.

I have picked one of the Butternut squash and it was really not quite ripe but tasted great!! It looks like we will have some tomatoes but they are green now I picked 5 cucumbers last night. I can see 2 eggplants growing on the 2 plants I have. They are small now so there is a long time before they will be bigger.

This garden has turned out to be a surprise over and over.

Vicky, I know where you will be going soon. Only one week left here before teachers have to go back. Our nephew and his wife go back next week. (Louisiana). They have an early start because they get the usually weeks off at holiday time and then a whole week at Mardi Gras
Wishing you a good year.

Where do the days go???? Time had gone so fast. I am retired and way too busy.

Good morning Sue, Vicky, Liz and everyone else too. Well I have been off work again for the last week and this is the first time I have been on Sparkpeople.

Sue I loved your pictures of your garden. It looks very vital and strong with the vines pushing through. That is how I picture you, Sue. You can come up against stuff and succeed. Good for you Sue making a short term goal of being down in weight from last year when you see your doctor.

This year we have tried a small garden just out of planters. We have two tomato plants one is a beefsteak and they take a long time to come forth. They are usually worth the wait though. The other plant is like a grape size tomato and we have been feasting off of that one. Almost every day we can take anothe one off.

We also have seen a small green pepper forming on our third plant we have. The bunny seems to be eating these leaves and leaving the tomatoes alone.

Liz: About my visit to the Chinese buffet. I think I did pretty well. I had salad first and stayed away from the macaroni and potato salads and concentrated on the one that had tomato, onion, green pepper and a little feta cheese in an oil and vinegar dressing. I stayed away from the shiny chinese veggies because I don't do well with msg. I had salmon cooked without sauce, a skewer of chicken. Diet pop and water. No rice, no regular chinese meat and combo offerings. I went for the ice cream at the end and what a let down. It was very soft so I had a couple of spoons and set it aside. Also, Isn't it a blessing and an honour to pray for someone. We belong to the Healing Rooms at our church and we go about twice a month. It is so rewarding to go and spend some time in praise and worship and or studying through video. We often watch Andrew Wommack on video ....he is so good. Then often we pray for people and almost see the weight lifting off of their countenance. We have such a great God who allows us to be His outstreched arms

I have been about two weeks not using the cane. I went to my last physio on tues July 28 and have been discharged with a plan. He said, you don't need me anymore. I do the one exercise only two times a day (10 sets) and then I can start doing the exercise where you lean on a "slippery door" with it locked for safety. Your legs are out a fair amount from the door and you ease yourself down as far as you can without pain. Also, more walking. The physio Richard said by the end of the summer I should be back walking my normal amount.
He helped me so much. It still hurts if I turn it the wrong way and it feels like there is a pretzel in my knee but considering how much it hurt compared to now. Wow. It is amazing how fast your midriff begins to bulge and your legs seem to get heavier when you can't walk as much or as fast as you once did. I am NOT giving up but expect to be better by fall.

I have been reading that it is cooler where some of you are. Man oh man, it has been really really hot here with temps between 29 and 35 degrees celcius. There has been a breeze which helps.

I have been working on my wind chime for the Western Fair. Basket is painted, wire hanger cut into six 10 inch lengths, sprayed with copper paint. Every step takes a while and the only time I have is on my vacations. Next step is putting wire pieces in and then curling them at ends with a kneedle nose plier, adding the pieces of metal to the fishing wire, so that make the jingle jangle noise in the wind. I am using the parts of a child's tambourine as well as long copper tubing.

Vicky I have a recumbent bike as well as a Schwin bike in my basement that should help me out as well. Think I will try the recumbent bike first though.

Well I have Sat., Sun. and Monday off of work. Monday is our Civic Holiday so my week at work will only be 4 days.

P.S. I love the name Jerrah and congrats on your new niece. I love that the name means Jehoval has seen.

Prayers for you this week. We all need prayers for good food choices. Everythign seems to have food attached to it.

I have less than a week now before my Doctor check up. I sitll have a few pounds to go. I want to be down from last year.

WE can do this . We just have to keep our focus on what is good for our body. I think it might be a good prayer to add to the one before each meal.

Time has been sailing by here, too. Here it is, the end of July already. Haven't lost a thing, in fact I still have 5 pounds to go to get where I was when school let out. But it's okay, because I'm in a good place mentally. I leave for State Rally tomorrow, so that means eating out for the next 4 days, but at least I'll get plenty of exercise to cover it. God, please, let me crave only healthy food and help me stay away from the hospitality tent, where the cookies and snacks live...

The last few days, my eating has been good. My husband stepped on the scales and found he had gained weight again, so there has been NO ICE CREAM in the house. Sorry to say, but it serves him right, bringing that stuff around... emoticon

Have a lovely day, all and I'll be back next Monday...

Hello everyone.....not doing so well on my food program, but not going to give up! I am going on vacation to my sister's next week and that should be fun. Whitney had a baby girl (Jerrah). She was named after my nephew Jeremy who passed away 4 years ago. Whitney says that red hair doesn't run in either her or Levi's family. Jeremy had red hair!! Also, I don't think they knew this, but Jerrah is a Hebrew name that means Jehovah has seen. Thanks for all your prayers.

Today I finished re fluffing the flowerbeds and the garden. I have about 12 butternut squashes on the vines. There will be a few more cucumbers but that vine seems to be getting brown. I have a couple green peppers coming too.

Buffets are the hardest to watch what you eat. We had a church social last night. I ate a hamburger no bun and watermelon. The rice dish I have no idea what all was in it but it as good. I tried to eat the raw veggies fro that tray and do it slowly so the other people could eat. I had more watermelon for dessert and a scoop of jello. There were Bratts, hotdogs, and hamburgers. I weigh in at the Doctors on August 5th My goal is to drop 4 pounds more by then. That is all I kept thinking about at that dinner.

We work so hard to drop a few pounds and it takes a day or two to pick up the pounds again.

Bless you my friends.
We can do this with our group support.

Ann, I'm glad you're ready to leave that old cane behind. I have found that riding the recumbent bike makes my knees feel pretty good. I'm doing it every other day for 4 miles.

Sue, your vines are trying to get away! My daughter used to have an old car on the back of her property that she was going to restore. The hood was up on it and it had no motor in it. One summer she noticed blossoms coming out from under the hood and, lo and behold, she had a very large pumpkin vine growing out of it! The kids had thrown their old pumpkin seeds there from the last halloween. It made a very pretty picture!

It's going to be a beautiful week here. Mid 70's and sunshine! Hope you all have a lovely week too!

Ann, that all sounds great.. What fun with the Grand kids. Vicky, I am on my bike too. We moved into the living room so I can sit and watch TV while I sit working my way to nowhere.

Well, Home was all in good shape except the grass was so high Dave thought he would have to get the farmer down the road to come and mow. My garden vines just grew through the fence I am so grateful I got the flower beds cleaned up and in good shape before we left. Sue.

Hi Vicky: Good for you on the recumbent bike and for planning on making it a habit. I have mostly put the cane away last week only using it for uneven ground, longer walks and stairs without railing.

This Monday, I left the cane at home. Boy I can't wait to do the "hospital walk' again. P.S. Most people move pretty fast in second or third gear so to speak and I do too normally.

I am still doing the knee exercises and faithfully going to physio. This time I will keep doing them even when my knee doesn't hurt any more.

It has been very hot and humid in Southwestern Ontario as well. My face breaks out in rosacea when it gets hot or I drink really hot beverages. It is a pain but not too bad.

The long awaited splashpad across the street in the park opened up this past weekend and we had the grandkids over splashing away. They loved it. We had them all day last Sunday and we tired them out. First church, then lunch, then Children's Museum then snack then splashpad, then supper, then we played a dvd Bible Game. Their mom said they slept into 9:30 a.m. the next morning and they are used to getting up at 6 am on school days. Thank God for school vacations, eh Vicky!

I also cleared out my bottom cupboards in the kitchen and on top of the counter, and I sorted the kitchen drawers as well as the one in the antique in the dining room. We gave away two boxes of videos to my hubby's cousin and said we don't want them back!

Sue: Good to hear you had time to read on your vacation. That is a great book, I have read it twice. My coworker is off this week so I am busy doing my work and some of hers. Next week, I am on another week's vacation and am going to continue with the second craft I have in mind. I only have time to do these things when I am on vacation. I do enjoy it.

Hi to everyone else and especially the new members of the team. We are rooting for you all to be successful in all you do - healthwise, wealthwise and most importantly with your relationship with our Jesus.

Got 4 miles in on my recumbent bike before I ever came downstairs this morning. Hopefully, this will be the beginning of a new habit for me.

Terribly hot & humid here today. Bob & the grandson are up at a bike rally in Erie. It should be a little cooler by the lake. I don't enjoy rallies when it's this warm.

Cleaned house this morning, dusted, ran the sweeper, loaded the dishwasher, and threw away some junk. Things I don't get to do when there are people in the house...

Hope you all are having a lovely day...

Liz: What an encouraging post. Let us do show our flesh who is the boss. I actually really wanted to have more than what I ate today at lunch. I had a perfectly good salad with protein in it, a peach tea, two baby cookies and I had ate a small orange earlier on in the morning. I purposely left my purse at my office when I went to the break room. I almost got up two times to get money. I did not do it though.

I know we are going out to eat at a Chinese restaurant buffet style tonight and I plan on choosing wisely.

Sue: talking about stress eating.....I find that if something is going on that I can't control, then especially about my loved ones......that is when I do my emotional eating. I do know and try to work on giving it over to Christ. I know he loves my family more than I can. I am not always able to do that and that is why I joined this Spark Group in the first place

When I think about it in the Psalms somewhere it says, Why art though downcast oh my soul, hope though in God for I shall praise Him yet.

I don't seem to have the problem with myself - I mean things happening to me. When my husband suffers it is hard. When my son suffers it is hard. No one has suffered more than Jesus though! I need to relax and give the Holy Spirit control. (Speaking to myself here!)

Then sometimes I give in. However, does the eating accomplish anything, nope, just to tighten my clothes.

Vicky, you may have said this before, but your Bible Study, is it based on a text/book leading you through the study? If so can you provide the name and or author. Or, is it a sharing time with Bible verses and prayer? Any way it definitely sounds like a good one.

Ann good to hear from you. We are on the last week of our vacation. It has been hard to do the computer as we have to go to the office to use the internet.

The quiet and the beautiful mountains have really helped me focus and I hope to go home on Friday and healthier person emotionally. Now the food is a different story. I have tried to say in line but we will see next Monday when I weigh in.

Blessings to all of you my friends. I appreciate you and pray for you each day.
Sue

Hi everyone: First, I hope everyone had a great July 4th and second, I have been on a weeks vacation and not even once did I go on the computer. I did read all the posts just now and I think it was Liz that asked what was the submission into the Western Fair crafts that was entitled" re-used? It is something that you make that is "green" so at least part of it has to have an item that can be re-purposed, or make something new out of it. So you take a picture of all the parts you are going to work with. My project believe it or not, is a pot pourri sachet. I found a green crafts book in the library and found my instructions there. You take used dryer sheets.....clean out of the dryer. You iron them and make them flat. Then you take these two dryer sheets and using white craft glue you glue the bottom and two sides. What a mess that was. Anyway after drying, you fill with pot pourri (new) and then the stuff you buy: card stock, pretty paper with a design on it, 1 yard of ribbon (new or used) Lots of gluing going on and its pretty easy but each step you have to allow for drying.
When you are done you have the card stock across the top, bended in half with ribbon in the fold. Then the po pourri below (I chose apple cinamon) and there you go. You can also put a lonely clip on earing in the middle.

The other one I am doing is a wind chime. Upside down basket without handle, paint it and then you take regular metal hangers and shape them into curly curls to hang basket from, and use clear nylon line to hang the items that make up the wind chiime. I am using tambourines that are kids, breaking them apart and hanging them.

woops, I have to get back to work.

Ann

Emotions also give me problems. I am also a stress eater and stress seems to find me a lot.
I wish there was Bible study near me for this.

How great that you husband can rebuild a car for you, Wonderful !

I don't have much computer time today. Prayers for all. Sue
