So much of my time has been out of my control this week: when I have had a chance to exercise, even that timing is not completely in my control! But I'm trying to keep at it.
3/12: 50 minutes Jazzercise 3/13: rest day (which is what happens when there is NO time to exercise) 3/14: 40 minute walk, 2 bridges 3/15: 90? minutes skiing, 1 bridge 3/16: rest day (ditto 3/13) 3/17: 55 minutes Jazzercise, 4 bridges 3/18: nothing 3/19: 25 minutes Jazzercise, 25 minute walk

We've started walking again at work. So as long as it's not raining I will be getting in some exercise while at work. I went to the gym on Mon and Tues. and on those two days I tried doing the stair climber, boy does that thing do a number on your legs.

I did the challenge for all three days (not including sunday) so far. Yay! Keep up the good work girls! How about squats, Hester?

Oh, man! It's been a while since I've been around on this team! Sorry ladies. I guess I missed this week's 5 for 5. I did continue to do my cardio at least 5 days a week for 45-60 minutes though along with strength training twice a week. I'll make sure to check in for the next one! Looks like spring might finally be on it's way to Minnesota! We're looking at 65 degrees today!

So far, my exercise times have not been entirely within my control, since I've been with other people. BUT at least I'm exercising!

I don't think I'm going to be doing bridges. I'm not comfortable trying that move at work. Hopefully I'll stay active for the 5 days this week. I'm finishing out my last week at the gym. My membership ends on the 20th. I think I'm going to be going back to the great outdoors again.

Those bridges are a butt killer for sure! Dontcha think?
I actually started 2 days ago on this so yesterday I did 40 mins, plus aiming for a 25 minute yoga stretch dvd at the end.

How about start tomorrow and go thru the end of next week. Get as much done as you can in that time, but aim for 5 days minimum. Yes Denise they are like a half backbend. Spark should have a example of the exercise.
My anniversary was awesome. Will post more later (off to gym)
CONGRATS TO HUEY!!!!!! Thats really awesome Jeneal!

Are bridges like backbends, but without going all the way up?
Are we starting again next Monday? It's fine with me, although I don't think that I can keep going from the 60 minutes I ended last week with! Might have to start again with a shorter time!
How was your anniversary trip, Adrianne?

I suck lol. I disappeared again!
Can we repeat last week again, except change the exercise to bridges? Aim for 5 bridges, holding it for 1 min.
So stick with a number of mins of cardio that you are comfortable with and increase it by five mins everyday for five days :)

3/1: 40 minute walk 3/3: 45 minutes skiing, 60 modified push-ups 3/4: 40 minute brisk walk (ran out of time to get the 50 minutes I should have gotten for the challenge), 20 modified push-ups 3/5: 55 minutes Jazzercise, 75 modified push-ups 3/6: 60 minutes Jazzercise, push-ups later!
This has been a great challenge, Adrianne--it was just what I needed to get me back on track... and while I might not quite make the goal for the week on push-ups, I have done 155 more push-ups (so far) than I would have done without the challenge! Have an idea for next week?

I don't like having two threads open. I've done my push-ups for the day and I did 85 minutes on the elliptical. So I'll either be posting here or on the other thread depending on where my little mouse clicks.

Who knew I could do that many push-ups? Not all at one time, of course. But still, I'm pretty impressed with myself!

Well for the past 2 days I've done 110 pushups off the accounting ladies file cabinet. I might as well take an advantage of having to wait for my orders to be approved. This way only the accounting lady will think I'm crazy and not the people in my department, because my cubicle is too open for me to do it there. All this talk of mexican has gotten me hungry, but I'll be going to bed in a few minutes.

Thanks Cheryl. For once, I wasn't really beating myself up over it. I love Coach Dean's articles, blogs, etc., and he talks a lot about taking responsibility... not passing it off like someone/something else is making you make this choice or that... I've tried to learn from that. So last night, I stared that menu straight in the face, looked at the healthy shrimp tacos that I'd had the last couple of times I'd been to that restaurant, and said "No, I want the nachos. I know they are not the healthiest choice, but that is the choice I'm making, and I'm going to enjoy them." And I did. And the margarita that went along with them. I was a little surprised at how high the calories added up when I got home, but I owned it and was ok with it.
OK, so now, on to this challenge. I went skiing today, what a great day! But it's very hard to figure actual time skiing... we were up there for about three hours, but riding the lift doesn't count, unfortunately! Neither does lunch! So I'm going to start with my Sunday walk, 40 minutes, estimate that I skied for 45 minutes or so today, and go from there for rest of the week!

Denisa-bad days happen. Believe me, I've had my share and I'm sure I'll have more to come in the future. None of us is perfect! Give yourself a moment of grace and move forward. Looking backward will only make you walk into a wall!
I think I may have set myself up with starting at 45 mins. of cardio, but that's my normal time. I'll just have to do cardio in a couple sessions by the end of the week to get it all in!

OK ladies, I totally, completely bombed today. NO workout, NO pushups... and after a busy, stressful day, I made DH take us out to eat 'cause I didn't feel like cooking, and I consciously made the choice to get a knockout margarita and nachos. Whew. I'm supposed to be going skiing with a girlfriend in the morning, at least that will burn some calories and I will try to get some kind of fresh start for this challenge. I'd been doing pretty well the last few days... oh well, we all have to have a bad day every now and then, right???

I'll try to remember to do this challenge. I find that I'm okay with exercise like walking, biking or the elliptical, but I slack off doing the strength stuff. The lady at the gym let me pay for a month in cash. I don't really want to sign up to have them take money out of my checking account there has been a lot of bank problems lately and I got a letter last week saying that my information was compromised. So hopefully it will start to warm up soon then I can continue my exercise outside.

I will give it a shot. I have been really bad lately, and maybe this is the motivation I need, in small doses, to get me back on track again. Luckily I haven't really gained any, despite less exercise and more food.

There are five of us regular posters on this team and I thought we could participate in a mini challenge. The length of the challenge is up to the team and will easy to follow and in five day increments. Five days will be considered one week, allowing for 2 days rest for those who need it.
For example: Week ONE will begin on Monday 3/02 and continue through until Sunday. There will be a cardio portion and a strength portion.
Week one beginning 3/02: Cardio: Do cardio for a number of mins that you are comfortable with. Then for each of the remaining days increase the previous time by five mins. For example: start with 30 mins and increase to 35 then 40 then 45 and finally 50 mins.
Strength: 55 pushups of any kind for 5 days. Alternate option, aim for 275 pushups for the week.
OPTIONAL: POST STARTING MEASUREMENTS
Good luck girls and lets lose some inches!!
