prices seem fair
I pay $250 for outdoor board including two feedings per day.

One thought, ask around for references for those places - see who has boarded there in the past and ask why they left if you can. Its always good to know but not easy to get an answer to.

Another thought, make sure they have insurance :)and make sure you have some also. My stable requires you to have insurance, protects them if my horse does damage or hurts another horse, and if something happens to him then my insurance covers it. In Ontario Canada its the Ontario Equestrian Foundation and insurance is $75 per year.

`are you going to cowboy up or just lie there and bleed
`its a horse. not a dog, not an ATV. When you come to realize that you will understand the true joy of owning a horse
`give credit where credit is due-to you not to a figment of someone's imagination

i am sorry, i must have missed this thread somehow

Board is hard, for me at least

i have had my horses in my backyard most of the time.
i have tried boarding so i could take advantage of indoor arenas.
the first place i tried didn't feed them
the second i they would not water them
the third the lady that owned the place was a nut case..

it is hard, no one will take care of them like you will.

if you do board, go up Everyday if you can
the more your their the more you will know what is going on..

for vermont those price's sound pretty good
but now you need to know
how much is as needed?
when are they fed?
when will they be watered?
when are they checked on?
who will be doing the care?
what happens if something happens to your horse?

make sure you ask ton's of questions and make sure to talk to other boarders

that would be my advice

good luck
cherie

Ok, I need advice. I am in the process of looking into boarding. My horses are kinda being boarded at my moms but that is a volitile situation. I am looking to buy a house and I just dont want to have any regrets. I will either be getting an older house with 3 acres or a brand new house with no acres and will have to board. Is it better to have your horses on your own property or to board them where you will have a social atmosphere?

I checked around the only two boarding facilities and here are the prices. Is this avg?

Place number one:$325/mo Stall boarding, includes turnout feed and hay as needed. Pasture Boarding $245/mo with shelter, grain and hay as needed

Place number two:$350/mo Stall boarding includes turn out, feed and hay as needed. Pasture Boarding $270/mo with shelter, hay and feed.

Both places have riding facilities etc. Best thing about place number one, they are natural!
