I could use a pill, problem is i would need it everyday. I have been going through a very stressful time the last 6 weeks or so. I am afraid it is not going to end for a while. My Dr. did increase my antidepressant. It seems to be helping some.

I hope your Sundays get better.

I do those things. I make myself fix my hair and put on my war paint. Make myself dress instead of wearing my pjs all day. If I am out I force a smile at every on I see, even if they are a stranger. It does help a little. In my state of mind every little bit helps. if my anxiety level gets up I sit on my porch and watch the birds. I don't get as much pleasure out of it as I use to,but it does smooth out my ruffled feathers a bit.

I got out of the house. Even if it was to the doctor and pharmacy . I smiled at the reception people, Nurse, Pharmacy staff and they smiled back, Curtsied at the security man and he bowed. Lemonade.

The pharmacy staff was all glad to see me. I have stopped by just to say hi and see pictures of there kids.

I have noticed that some people who are always giving me advice on what you need to do ,are the very ones that are always wanting something from me. Makes me wonder if they want me healthy because they care for mr, or because they want to use me.

Some times I take care of others and forget my self. Sounds like your kids hold a more important place than your health. Smile it physically helps your mood. Exercises at a ymca or other cheep place to walk or exercise where some one would notice if you fell down. My angina got better after I got in better shape slowly.

I do not know if I am going to be able to return to work, yet. I still have hope.

I know how it is to lose people in your life when you are not able to do for them . After spending my life giving to and doing for people I loved and cared for, putting their wants before my needs. People who kept my stress level raised because they are goobers. when I need them for the firs time, they disappear. Many have never called to see if I survived or not. You definitely learn who cares for you. I guess i can consider that a plus. Now that those people are out of my life,it is better. Like when I weed my garden. It's a rough job and makes me ache. but when I'm finished it is so much better, and the Plants grow bigger and stronger, and they produce a bounty of good things.

Hopefully you have people in your life that didn't just disappear after your operation. Six Bypasses , wow , your Special. What is your ejection fraction ? Mine is 31% that is why I was able to get the Defibrillator/pacemaker. Are you on Disability ? I am. Most of my depression stems from feeling normal but being unable to do so many things now. I need to find a job that will let me rest after any exertion and allow a nap in the mid afternoon. What is the right direction ? Sparkpeople seems to be a bit overwhelming to me, but what else do I have to do

I am doing all I can to get through this. I was not having a problem with anxiety until I began to have to deal with a stressful situation. Now I find that I have a lot of anxiety.

I had a different reaction to the bypass surgery . I became more anxious, apprehensive,. and withdrawn. Some of this is ptsd from vietnam and some of it was just being sick and tired of mbeing sick and tired. Exercise has helped me greatly along with the aid of the mental health clinic at the veterans hospital. I have learned that depression is NOT a chemical inbalance in the noodle, but a bonefide health problem and there is meds for it. emoticon not this but this emoticon do whatever it takes to beat this problem or be emoticon destroyed by it

i CAN And will do this in spite of any obstruction be it man or beast or, friend or foe vietnam12veteran@gmail.com

In our meetings that was most of us. We had rehab after heart sugary, then get to gathers, after we were done with rehab. We hoped that the doctors would mention to others before surgery.

Changing our diet is so challenge some times I will not eat just because nothing on the cardio-diabetic diet is appealing. We are not Diabetic yet but the doctor said if we did not reduce our A1C numbers we would be. Depression keeps me from eating. Exercising what I can. My body has not recovered completely yet. Its been 5 Months.

I started with the Cardiac Rehab but had to quit due to no transportation - we're down to one vehicle and hubby drives that to work.

I've always kept my feelings inside of me - my psychologist tells me it's due to childhood issues I had way back when - so everyone usually sees me as this happy/go-lucky fat lady !

Hi MRSBUKEYE

My surgery will be 7 yrs. ago this coming September. I hope your exerciseing or walking, staying active. That helped me through my depression. Get out as much as you can, if you did not go through a Cardiac Rehab. program sfter surgery, you may still be able. The program got my depression undercontroll because I was able to talk to health professioonals an others who were going through the same thing. Walking to me is one of the best stress relievers for me. Good luck.

So how long should one expect depression to last after open heart surgery? It's been over a year for me and I'm more and more depressed :(
