I graduated from cardio rehab today. I started in July. I walked 30 percent faster today. I had three goals for the class. One of my goals for me to be able to hang cloths to dry. That goal is accomplished. I have been smoking the same pack for 12 days instead of one plus a day. That's better than same. There is still a hill that has got me buffaloed but I am working on it. Now to exercise two or three times a week. Which was what we were doing before procedure which led to double bypass.

Evelyn- My hat is off to you! It sounds like you have a full plate but make the time to do exercise- That is not easy to do for me, not bing an exercise nut. But I do enjoy long walks and find time for that every day. On those days when I can't, I do feel like I am cheating myself. You are a great role model for us!

Well, my kids are grown (I've swapped them for my elderly parents) so I literally have had to learn to make myself first every day. 4:30 a.m. every morning (weekends 7-ish) and then I come home and am ready to face the day. My cardiologist helped me to "see the light"... It's the one time of day that no one else needs me. The hardest part is making my family understand that I'm not being anti-social, but I do need to be in bed by 9 or 9:30.

Wow, Evelyn! You are my exercise idol! I do alot of yoga as well. At some point I'd like to incorporate some strength training into my routine, but I barely have the time for 30-60 minutes of cardio 5 days a week.... emoticon Michelle

I go to the gym every day, do about an hour there, then walk during the day sometime for another 45 minutes to an hour. At the gym I alternate between a stationary bike, a machine called a sci-fit which is a bike with an ergometer (you peddle with arms and legs at the same time), and the treadmill. I do a mix of weights and strength machines, mostly machines for strength, and some yoga for stretching.
The latest twist is a new machine called the Ab Solo, really fun for a core workout. The exercise has helped me more than anything to get my diabetes and heart issues under control.

Hi everyone,
I'm curious about what types of cardio exercise you enjoy. My favorite is Zumba! When I can't get to a Zumba class I like the recumbent bike, and a Technogym "floating" machine that simulates skating. When I do the machines I have to have my MP3 player with motivating music. Let me know.
