I just found this team and I had my by pass in 2002. I have been on Sparks since Jan 2008. I had no idea this team was even here.

Well JW, so happy to see you back home and ready to return to a healthy eating and lifestyle. It's hard, knowing that these changes will have to be a part of our life. But I find it is a little easier to make these changes going in with a positive attitude, which you seem to have. Isn't it a beautiful day today! emoticon

Hi Guys, I made it through the surgery two wed. ago and had to have a pace maker put in on mon. and was home by this wed. Other than the usually soreness and everything else that comes from surgery I am doing well. I am up and walking a lot but am not allowed to do much with my left arm yet. So walking it is for now. I started a more heart healthy diet already also. I will be checking out the recipes so if you can recommend any let me know. How is everyone else holding up with the diet and exercise routines? Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. Joann

Thank you guys for your support. Wed. is the surgery so if all goes well I'll be back on line in about two weeks with a 2nd new valve and renewed energy to get back to exercising. Mentally and emotionally I'm more prepared this time around so the recovery should be good. Thanks again for your support. It means more than you know. Joann

Happy New Year to everyone. I got my clearance to go back to work with no restrictions. Woo Hoo! Now if only I had a job to go back to....Ha Ha.
Everybody cross your fingers for me to pass my bus driving physical and then I will have a new job.
JWCruiser, I am pulling for you, hope this yr brings you good luck with something that can be fixed without major surgery.

JWCruiser, I'll be praying for you. Take care of yourself and hopefully the doctors will be able to fix you right up with a minimum of procedures....
Take care, and keep us posted!

To All on this team I wish a healthy and happy holiday. I originally joined this team when I first signed up hoping I would be motivated to keep going and get healthy. When I pushed myself to keep exercising and didn't feel any better or lose wt I stopped only to find out my new valve is leaking and I either have something wrong with the heart muscle itself or a clogged artery. I begged them to wait until after the holidays for more testing since our 29 yr old son died in Dec from a heart attack 2 years ago and couldn't face bad news again in Dec. I haven't been able to exercise and I know the wt is coming back on. I hope after I find out what's wrong I'll be able to return here and get some insight on how you are keeping the wt off and what exercises work well for you. Happy holidays to all.

I agree with you all, it is a very special time of the year to be grateful for having a second chance of life. We are lucky to live in these times were science has given us these extra years. Imagine if the Pilgrims knew what they started here in the New World. I saw an old movie on TV made in the fifties about the Pilgrims crossing on the Mayflower- Spencer Tracy was the Captain. Didn't realize that they had to go back to England on their first sailing because of a leaky ship. Talk about motivated people! We can learn from them. Wishing each and every one of you a healthy and Happy Thanksgiving!!! Enjoy a turkey leg. emoticon

Hi, I had a quadruple bypass many years ago. I found this team by accident. I joined a few weeks ago. I am also a breast cancer survivor. I agree we are very lucky people. We have been given a second chance on life. I would like to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. Please know that if I can be of help to anyone I will be here for you, Auntga.

I agree completely! I feel blessed every time I get to go exercise, because I literally got a new chance at life!
Without the bypass, my cardiologist said I would have most likely had a sudden and probably fatal heart attack.

So, thanks for posting this... I wonder if there are others on Spark who just don't know about us? I didn't find this team until very recently.

I am so lucky because my heart was "fixed" before it was damaged.

We are all so lucky (There are only 18 of us.) because we are able to communicate with other people who have been through similar surgeries and medical problems.

There are only 18 of us on that are on this team. Let's support each other and celebrate what we have!
