I've no clue who David Wolfe is... But here is my story:

My husband already had a centrifigal type juicer from the 60's or 70's that his mom had given him after one of her "healthy cooking" jags back then. It still works fine and I can still find the paper-ish filters that separate the fiber and junk out from the juice. But we were never consistent about using it, especially after the bumper feet deteriorated with age and we couldn't seem to find an appropriate replacement (the work-around has been to take all the remaining feet off and just set it down on a piece of that rubbery "shelf liner" stuff you can cut to fit - that way it doesn't slide around as much and quietens the motor noise/vibration.).

Meanwhile his mom had a 70's vintage VitaMixer that she never would use and was basically hoarding. He finally got his mom to give it to us but she didn't know where the instructions and recipe book was, and the company didn't have it on their .pdf files online. They seemed astounded that I even had this 70's vintage machine.

Fast forward to about 2009 or 2010, and my girlfriend started getting interested in juicing and borrowed ours, and continued to research and she finally bought herself the newer reconditioned Vitamix online. This was about when "Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead" showed up on Netflix. I did some research and discovered that VitamMix had a trade-in program, so by ordering a new reconditioned machine, I saved about a hundred $$ and then gave them the info on my vintage machine (which worked but switched were old and starting to spark etc - not good!!) and got a. $100 credit back on my credit card after they received it in the mail with their trade-in certificate papers connecting it to my earlier Vitamix purchase.

Also, in 2005 or so, I had visited a friend in TX and she had made me smoothie with her MagicBullet and I couldn't stand the noise that thing made. Smoothie was okay, but.... I was just really underwhelmed.

So we have had our VitaMix for several years now when this NitriBullet hit the airwaves and we have this sweet lady at church who has always been kind of resistant to "health food" and she and her husband are retired so I think they felt kind of threatened by the idea of having to spend that kind of money on a VitaMix ( not like everyone has a vintage model in the garage that they can trade-in for the $100 bucks credit!!). But I guess she has just latched on to the Nutribullet and she and her husband have lost some weight and we're happy for her - but now she (mistakenly) believes that it does a better job of processing than the VM.

It sounds like the main advantages are the little booklets explaining health benefits. (which the gf and I already knew from our own research ) and the recipes which take some of the mystery out of combining fruits and veggies for those who don't like to experiment? And in the smaller amounts that work well for the smaller container that Nutribullet used? As far as I am concerned, if the NB is what it takes to get this gal making fruit & veggie smoothies, that was fine with me, but I rather imagine the finished products are exactly the same.

(oh and that reminds me, I also got the Ninja few years ago when it finally got clearances out - and it does leave chunks - but I think that can be eliminated by adding the ingridients in specific order, the way Vitamix tells ya, so that there is enough liquid to pull stuff down into the vortex.).

I was curious if there were others who have already compared the VitaMix and NutriBullet side by side? I'm thinking I might, just to see and also the NutriBullet might be a less awkward size to use in traveling.

I guess that's about the extent of my experiences so far... Would be interesting to see other experiences. And I have GOBS of 20% discount coupons for Bed Bath & Beyond - anyone need me to mail them some?? Hee hee

I purchased my NutriBullet about a month ago and have no complaints. I'm a veggie hater and it has really helped me incorporate more of them into my meals.

I've been making Nutriblasts for over a month now.. and I really love the NutriBullet! The clean up is so stinking easy, too. I just put the handle right on the blender cup and drink it right out of there.

At first I wasn't adding much water, and I had to shake it a little to blend. Now I add a little more and it's so perfect. I use half frozen fruits. When my bananas/apples have been sitting awhile, I just cut them up and put them in a ziploc, and poof.. they are ready to throw in with spinach & flaxseeds. SO healthy!!!

im not sure if anyone checks these threads or not, but I recently bought an expensive blendtec blender, only to see the nutribullet commercial a day or 2 after buying it. I decided to also buy the nutribullet to compare the 2 products, and saw that as far as juicing goes the nutribullet can do anything that the blendtec could do, and costed a fraction of the price. I ended up returning the blendtec and kept the nutribullet as it can do everything that I need it to do, and I saved myself over $300 by doing so! woo hoo!

and for those of you planning on buying a nutribullet, bed bath and beyond sells it for $99.99 and you can use a 20% off coupon and get it for $80, and target also sells if for $99.99, either way they are both cheaper than the infomercial and you dont have to wait on the shipping :)

I have a magic bullet and just ordered a blendtec blender, and am still waiting for the blender to arrive. I just saw the nutribullet commercial yesterday and decided to try my magic bullet to see if it compared to the nutribullet commercial. I put some greens, apple and cucumber in the magic bullet and blended, and although it did eventually get through everything it took a while and had a lot of chunks and wasnt smooth like the nutribullet shows in the commercial. I am curious to try the nutribullet, but already bought the blendtec (should arrive tomorrow). For those with a nutribullet, does it blend through tough fruits/ veggies, like for instance does it blend carrots easily?

NOTHN4ME, how did the juice fast go? did you strain the nutribullet juice, or did you do a fast with the fiber included? I am planning on trying a 60 day juice fast, and will be straining my juice just because I want to make sure I maximize the effects of the fast, but am curious to see how others have done it. It would be soo much easier to just leave the fiber inside, but I am scared that will sacrifice some of the results.

**UPDATE**

Oh my!! I love my Nutri-Blast!! Easy cleaning and I keep my fiber!! Makes me wonder why I did not try this sooner.

I am preparing myself for a 5 day juice fast. I can fit the juicing/NutriBlasting into my schedule now and the fast will be much less of a headache!

I am awaiting delivery of my Nutri-Bullet! In the meantime, I have pulled out my Jack Lalanne juicer (using since Sunday). I love the final product, but HATE the cleanup. I am really hoping the NutriBullet will save me some cleaning time. emoticon

If so, I can successfully make juicing a part of my day. It takes me longer to clean my juicer than it does for me to juice!!

All local outlets seem out of it except for display models. Friend and I went and looked at it and compared to the regular Magic Bullet and our existing blender and I decided to get it.

So I ordered it, end of story, until it comes. Woot! Quite excited.

Thanks, Lisa. I am still on the fence, hoping to find it at Target or Bed Bath or Beyond or maybe Wal-Mart, for a lower price.

I appreciate the info.

CCHEF1: I have never tried the Magic Bullet but from what I have read the Nutribullet has a stronger motor. It might have a differently designed blade too but I am not positive on that. It is supposedly made to handle things like greens which most blenders have trouble with. When I use greens in my Ninja there are always little chucks left. They are small but large enough to get stuck in my teeth. With the Nutribullet the end product is always smooth- no chunks at all and no annoying green bits in my teeth.

If I didn't already have a VitaMix I'd buy one. I know a few people who bought the Nutribullet and like it.

Lisa, I have had the original Magic Bullet and was wondering if the Nutribullet is better or sturdier than the MB or just larger. Was wondering if you had ever used the MB and could compare, or if anyone has.

Ooh thanks! It must be a new-ish product. I didn't see it at BBB or Target last time I looked at blenders there - a couple of months ago. I'll look again!

You're Welcome! Thanks for the compliments!

I found the Nutribullet system at Target for $99. If you have a store near you, you might be able to save $19. I think Bed, Bath, and Beyond has it too. I was saving up for a vitamix and decided to try this since it is so much cheaper. I have been so happy that I am no longer planning to buy a vitamix.

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply with such detail! I super appreciate it. Sounds like a great product for my needs. And I thought $119 was a pretty good deal - with the different size cups, etc.

Congratulations on your weight loss, btw! You're doing / looking great!!

As far as I know you do not have to sharpen the blades. There is nothing in the product info about sharpening blades. I got a Nutribullet system that included 3 cups (1 tall, 2 smaller), 2 lids, 1 base, and 2 blades. One blade is for smoothies and one is for grinding nuts and seeds. I have used both. I use the grinding blade for flax seeds and it works great. I typically grind up flax before using in a smoothie. I use nuts in smoothies and I do not pre grind those. I just throw them in the cup with the other smoothie ingredients and blend. The nuts are soaked so they are a bit soft. I have had the system since April and I use it everyday. For a while I was making 3-5 smoothies a day with it when I was doing a cleanse type of thing. Most times now I make just one smoothie with it per day. I have made green sweet smoothies and green savory smoothies as well as salad dressings and it has handled everything well.

I think all blenders are loud to some degree. This one is quieter than my Ninja. I use it in my kitchen which is on one floor when my husband is asleep on the second floor. I wouldn't do that with my Ninja. I used to make smoothies in my basement when using the Ninja. I find the Nutribullet is also quicker than my blender. I don't have it on as long.

The cups have a fill line on them but I have found that I can fill them just about to the top and the end product is still well blended.

Oh my goodness - that review is SO helpful! Thanks so much! Since you own it, I have two quick questions... how is the LOUDness (as opposed to other blenders etc.) and... do you have to sharpen the blades? Wondering how they hold up with seeds & nuts.

I am really only intending on using this for myself and maybe a few ounces here & there for other family members if they want it, so the size is perfect for me! Thanks for the pros & cons!!

I bought the Nutribullet and LOVE it. It makes really smooth smoothies. I was making green smoothies in my blender (professional grade Ninja) and there were still green pieces and chunks. The little green pieces would get stuck in my teeth and I got sick of the chunkiness. The Nutribullet smoothies have no chunks. They are completely smooth. You can make them to look like juice. The difference is that the fiber is still present. When you juice you extract the juice and leave the fiber behind. In a smoothie you blend everything and drink it fiber and all. Therefore, the Nutribullet product is more like a smoothie. It is really convenient and easy to use. I have been very happy. The one draw back is volume. You can only make one serving at a time (about 24 ounces). With my blender I can easily make twice that much. I am only making them for myself so this isn't a problem but if you are making smoothies for a family you might want to invest in a vitamix. With the Nutribullet you blend in your cup so there's a lot less mess. Not pitcher or lid to clean. The blender blades are in a base that becomes the lid. When you are done, you just take off the base and quickly wash it and then drink out of the cup. There are travel lids included but they do not seal well. They are fine if the cup is upright but if it gets tipped at all, they do leak. I put them in big zip loc bags if I need to travel with them.

Wondering if any of you have watched the new infomercial (David Wolfe) about the NutriBullet. My "commercial box" on SP showed it, so I clicked and watched the full 25 mins.

Looks like kind of a mix between juicing and blending.. which I was curious about, and looking for.

I like David Wolfe, so that makes me want to trust him - what does everyone think?
