Thank you Andrea0301. It really makes you stop and think how precious life is. 2012 will be another year of keep going, learning more and exploring the world with my great nephew. It is wonderful watching a young one learn about things. It is a very great time.

I take each day for each day. My mom passed away in September and that taught me you can only live for today and take what you have and make the most of it. She was 93 but that is what she did. So when 2012 comes I'll face it being healthier and keeping up with what I've learned this year.

Just for today... I'm here as well.

And it feels good. I'll celebrate the fact that I'm still trying. I'm still showing up. I still care about me. I still care about you.

And today... that is going to have to be enough.

My new plan:

EVERY day is Day One. Yup. I think I am going to adopt that Alcoholic's Anonymous plan/mantra of "Just for today, I will ___________."

sick of having been sick. sick of being tired. So starting today, I am going to come to this team with a new thread called, "just for today I will...."

It is no surprise to me that facing the 3 yr anniversary is now not looking anything but WORSE than I did for the 1st anniversary of Spark-i-tudeness."

I gotta fix MY attitude. And truthfully, I have pummeled myself over how I affected your attitude when I dropped out of my daily blog (and the rest of computer life and phone calls while sick, but you didn't know that...)

So "just for today...I am here." That's all. I celebrate that I am showing back up. Better to celebrate my successes, than flog myself for my failures.

Love,
Amy

Be kind to yourself.

Hmmm, it's a bit scary getting rid of your "fat clothes". I did that and now I don't have much to wear - lol! I do have a wardrobe full of thinner clothes though which I'm struggling to get back into.

Anyway, I feel like we're all making a fresh start and it's nice to be in it together. Let's see what we can do this time round!

Doobs, sorry to hear about your foot ailment. You know, when your feet hurt, everything else seems to hurt.

By the way, thanks so much for the Flylady comment on my SparkPage...jump in where you are at...I did...the page isn't close to being done, but I did start.

I'm with everyone on the "hating to shop for clothes." I think this time, as I lose the weight and go to another smaller size, I'm getting rid of the fat clothes. That way either I'm going to have to live in my "jammies" and stay in the house or get back on track sooner then a year and a half...duh.

ML, we all need to not just tell ourselves we love ourselves, we need to put it into action. This time around I am going to come up with a reward system...no matter how small it may be...habits take time to break and make.

Gosh, it's good to be back...I emoticon y'all.

Great goals, Pam. At the moment I can't do any cardio as I have a painful foot condition - plantar fasciitis! I've had it since Friday. So annoying. But I can still do ST so that will have to do for now. Still struggling with the nice cold glasses of wine after work!

I hate clothes shopping at the moment as it is so upsetting to see the rolls of flab round my stomach and annoys me that I actually was about 20 pounds less at one point and I actually blogged about how good it was to look in mirror and see so much progress.

Still, no point on dwelling on the past - let's go for a slimmer future!

I'll take 3 "benign" (I prefer realistic =) ) goals done daily over more lofty (unattainable) goals that will set me up for failure any day!

Thanks for the reminder Doobs - not! Lol

Completely agree - we KNOW what to do, we just don't take time to do it. I went away for the weekend on a shopping trip to the Prime Outlets in San Marcos. I loathe trying on clothes after weeks of being off track. I have GOT to put me first some times!

Kudos for the steps/goals you have chosen. As for me...well, it's back to the beginning...stage 1, since I'm starting over. Evidently, I missed something very important the first time around.

I know this time around I won't be on the site hours a day...my health can't take it.

So, today I had to choose 3 Fast Start Goals. The ones I chose were:

1. Do 15 minutes of exercise while watching TV.
2. Measure all portions before eating.
3. Listen to a get up and go song every day.

I know these may sound benign, but, it's day 1 of starting over. emoticon

Isn't it funny how we know what to do but we find it so hard? Why is that? I'm listening to this CD that talks about how the only thing the therapist works on with her clients is loving the self. That's so important and not something I'm good at : (

I KNOW for a fact that tracking my nutritional intake was the key to my success in the beginning. I didn't last a month once I stopped.

I LOVE your idea of writing it down to track later. I'm not always at a computer and I find the iPhone app tracker rather lacking. I could simply make a "note" on my phone's notepad app (which I use all the time anyway!) and track it when I'm next at a computer.

Obviously this has occurred to me before, but I've been putting off the accountability. Well, guess what?! I'm not fooling anyone and the only person I'm cheating is ME. Ha!

I've been tracking which for me is key. Even yesterday I didn't get on to track food but I wrote it all down so that I could log it today ... feels good! Also grabbed the kids and went out for a walk this afternoon. And that was after being in the pool for an hour 40 this morning!

I know what I'm afraid of... I've gotten into a terrible habit of coming home from work and grabbing an ice cold refreshment. I don't want to have to curb that refreshing treat so...

Good goals being posted here! Keep it up!

I'm going small...

1) Start using the food tracker again
2) Continue my streak of 64+ ozs of water daily - I'm currently at 835 days!

I am making sure to drink 10+ glasses of water per day.
I am logging every single thing I eat or drink.
I am pushing my exercise goal up to at least 45 minutes of cardio per day.

I have not incorporated strength training yet, and I realize for good muscle growth and definition that I need to do do that so I can burn more calories at rest.

How I'm changing (well these last 6 days ) ...

1. Drinking my water ... every day

2. Getting at least 10 minutes of exercise ... most days more but I did get on the treadmill at 8:30 last Friday night for 10 min to keep my streak going (My streak count is posted on my door at work ... EVERYONE knows if I'm walking or not LOL)

3. Logging my food .... if I log it I'll think twice about eating it. My calories haven't been great this last week but I have been logging. It is a key step to a healthier me.

4. Signing up to walk my first 5K ... gotta start somewhere so next weekend I'm dragging my family into the 5K at the Y

How are you showing your recommitment ?
