When using this site, each of us should focus first on what we NEED to do...and then on the extras. When you feel overwhelmed.... SIMPLIFY!
"Cleaning house" is a good idea on occasion, so even if you don't need to do this now, do follow along so you know it's possible to do...so you can do it when and if needed at some future time:

LET'S TRY TO DECLUTTER YOUR MAILBOX ... from several approaches.
1. Did you join a LOT of teams. Do some have similar purposes...and yet you find you only use one?
a. Consider cutting down on the number of teams if you're on too many. To quit a team, DO quit it.
...Go to the team's page.
...Scroll to the bottom and
...click "Leave This Team".
2. There are a number of ways to slow down email notifications if you're feeling flooded by them.
a. TEAM-GENERATED EMAILS:
...Go to your team page.
...Scroll down to your teams.
...Click the words: "Manage Team Preferences".
...Look at each team's row and
......get rid of automatic emails you don't need.
Go through each line and...simplify those emails.
b. SP EMAILS:
...Go to your email preference page.

p ...Are there some SP emails checked that you don't want or don't find useful?
...UNcheck them. then
...scroll down the page and
...click "Save and Submit"!
c. EMAILS FROM BLOGS AND TOPICS/MESSAGE BOARDS:
You can actually UNsubscribe from them.
My guess is that you'll be amazed at how many things you have inadvertently subscribed to receive. Yup, generating emails that fill your crowded inbox! So...
...Go to your Start Page.
...Look at the Community column on the right.
...Scroll to the words "Manage My Board Subscriptions" and
...click.
...This brings you to a place where you can UNsubscribe to things.
...There are two parts to this section:
......."active subscriptions" and
......."inactive subscriptions".
Anything in the active list can generate an email notification of new posts to the thread/s.
...Scan the list.
See things that you don't want email notifications to advise you of new posts?
...Use your mouse to click the box to place a checkmark by these items.
...Scroll to the bottom of the page. There's an 'unsubscribe' button on the lower left.
BE SURE TO CLICK THE UNSUBSCRIBE BUTTON.
These things should within a few days slow down the email volume.

These are a few things you can do to declutter your email inbox, streamline your team activity.
Be watchful if you comment on a blog or thread; click to UNcheck after making comments if you don't want notifications of further posts to the thread. You'll see the box at the lower left corner of the area where your typed words appear. As long as it's checked (that's automatic), you'll receive an email notification. Uncheck it, and ... no email 'update'.
