Spring and fall are best for me as well. In our area, those two seasons seem almost to be skipped over more and more each year. My optimal temp range is 55 (without chilling wind) to 80 degrees F. And yes, too hot hurts worse.

Be STRONG. Stand firm. Stay the course!

Temperature, weather, the dog sneezing all of it seems to. BTW I don't have a dog I have a cat. Lately I've hurt almost constantly and am on 90 mg of Cymbalta a day. I've had days I just want to scream. No pain meds added in right now. Monday I'm calling my rhumatologist and seeing if any can be added...PCP wouldn't do it.

Well folks I'm back for the next few days...hope at least a few days will help.

Peace my friends...

Heat with my fibro and T2 Diabetes makes me break out in a heat rash...:-(

And the cold weather i get leg and foot cramps but love my warming blanket that my sister gave me one Christmas as it's great to get into bed all warmed up....

I am having problems today because of some issues that needed to be attended to and YES i finally received my bi-pap machine part so now i can get a better night sleep without getting so dried up and waking up so parched and hard to swallow!

I used to sweat profusely in the heat & become ill with breathing difficulty. It's getting somewhat better since I've lost alot of weight. I will say honestly though, I'm most comfortable home with just me and my cat in a big Tshirt resting on my bad days which is in the past two months - everyday. The cold seems to affect me later in the day after exposure - weird huh? My best weapon - hope, love of family & friends too.

Heat seems to make my nerve pain and fatigue worse while cold affects my muscles more. I'm talking nerve pain as in sometimes my clothes hurt me. I know I'm not alone in this and I'm always stumbling upon new ways to cope. It's a lot of trial and error, but am making strides in the right direction.

I can't handle the heat or cold well anymore. On top of the pain and everything else it does, the heat causes me to walk around like I'm in a sauna...sweat just pours off me!! I'll go out to walk my dog and the neighbors aren't sweating at all. So embarrassing! Just one more fun thing to deal with but I keep reminding myself how blessed I am! I DON'T have cancer, Alzheimers, Parkinsons, MS or many other much worse diseases! When I think of it like that, it's a little easier to deal with the pain and debilitating fatigue.

yes extreme heat or cold cause my asthma/chest to hurt causing a domino effect of pain i can barley move especially in morning, i've had to literally roll off the side of bed and lay hunched sort of a stretch over the edge of the bed....so sad emoticon at least i've finally connected the dots.

I live in North Idaho and the heat is incredible right now. It makes it hard for me to get out and walk, especially after work, when the heat is topping out. I get all crippled up in the heat.

Cold and snow also affect my fibro, sometimes I think this is the worst place to live, from high heat to ice cold.

But the Spring and Fall are wonderful and the tourists are gone then(Yippe) I can walk and enjoy the outdoors without too much pain.

Good luck all.

Having more and more problems with the heat and with air pressure changes. Can't deal with the up and down of temps and climate. We are working on moving, but it will take about 5 years or so. We are going to a mostly damp climate, but steady temps and such. If I only have one weather pattern to deal with, it will be easier all around. We are planning on going from South Florida (hurricane country) to upper Northwest Washington State.

I was going to say no because I don't have clothes touching my arms and can wear shorts. then I thought about the fatigue caused by the heat. I don't do well with that. I usually get up very early while it is cool and take a siesta during the hottest part of the day.

I'm not sure what brings it on. Except I am absolutely sure that lack of sleep is my biggest trigger. I think the more overweight I am the more problems that I have as well. In the winter, a nice hot bath right when I wake up really helps. Now that the weather is so hot I have been taking cool bathes in the morning and evenings and they seem to help. Maybe moderation is the key. Beats me

It bothers me too! What really bothers me is the going from the air-conditioning outside, getting hot and then going back inside to air-conditioning and then getting cold. The back and forth extremes really bother me.

I can't tolerate heat or cold. *sigh* Glad I'm not alone! Have a great day!

Yes! I've been extra achy these past few really warm days too. Humidity especially bothers me, hot or cold. Actually, as many others have mentioned, it seems to be extremes of all kinds. And as for the heat, often I am not sure which is worse, the pain and sheer intolerance to the heat, or the pain I get from the fans and air conditioning! Can't win for losing! LOL

I started out top weight 245 but that was when I actually got on a scale. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia almost 20 years ago. Over the years I've learned that I do so much better when I eat organic foods and I haven't eaten red meat in years I have been gradually working more raw foods, vegetables and fruit into my diet. I avoid drive through resturants like the plague.

emoticon Yes, extremes on either end add to pain and fatigue. Even so, Toledo is having a hard time breaking into spring. Right now, Mother's Day 2013, at 3 PM, it is 56F degrees outside.

Cold makes my muscles tighten up, and that means more pain. Doing everything is harder, so I get fatigued easily.

Heat above about 85 F degrees is unbearable, especially with humidity. That's why I'm enjoying our pseudo spring weather anyway -- it's a comfortable temperature, and unless it rains, the humidity hasn't started climbing yet.

I agree with AHEPBURN1 the cold really is hard on me too. Have to bundle everything up due to Raynauds Disorder, but not only that the damp cold of MO seeps into my joints and deep into my bones. The question: Does the hot weather affect your fibro? YES, it drains me of all energy and motivation. My body retains water and blows up like a balloon. I have commitments so this forces me to move through it. Commitments really help me to conquer the challenge of living with chronic pain. ONWARD AND UPWARD. Hey, put a little helium in me and this balloon might float upward and just float around all day! LOL

I live on the Gulf Coast, in Alabama. It gets very hot in the summer. But I do better in the heat than I do in the cold. When it gets cold my symptoms get worse. In the summer the only thing that makes my symptoms worse is rain.

I am also in Texas and the only time the heat bothers me is when I go shopping and everyone has the air-conditioner on so high that I freeze. The dramatic change in temperatures from outside to inside bother me more than the cold outside. In the winter I'm never outside that long before I'm back to warmth.

Yes, I have the same symptoms. When the barometric pressure goes below 101, I start feeling increased pain. I'm more stiff and achy, with less energy. In the hot humid weather, it's really bad for my body. I start to swell up and no energy! I become really uncomfortable and it also effects my mood if I cannot get into a place that is cool. Thank God our house has central air! I seem to be able to handle the hot dry air better.
When the barometric pressure shoots up or down suddenly, it really effects my pain level.
In other words...the hot humid weather and the cold damp weather is the hardest on me.

Hi everybody. I AM effected by the heat. When I was diagnosed I asked the DR. if I should use heat or cold for the pain...he said "What ever works". Well, the A/C was out in my car, & I found out that the Texas heat inflamed me!!! I literally carried Ice packs to put down my spine while driving. Now, I have a new car with A/C! We're having a crazy winter here. It'll be in the 70's one day & then snow the next! If you don't like the weather, just wait, it'll change in a few hours. emoticon Only problem now is the cold make my O/A through out my spine hurt! Oh me. lol (we have to laugh to keep from crying)

Hot (but really it's humid weather) and Cold makes it worse for me....and right now we are having an especially cold spell up here in Central Maine....-30 degrees two nights ago, -15 last night. Thankfully today it got back up to about 20 degrees (during the day, it's starting to drop again) which makes it easier to keep the house toasty.

The cold weather bothers me more. Right now it is getting cold here (45 going down to 30ish) and I'm starting to hurt. When I get too cold I start to get spasms and that hurts. I'm not looking forward to going out for Christmas Eve events. emoticon emoticon

Hot weather or cold will make me more fatigued and raise my symptoms. Cold weather causes me to hurt more, hot weather takes energy out of me and makes me dizzy or lightheaded.

The other day I just started feeling icky. Turned out the sleet came a day earlier than expected. I guess there really is something to this barometric pressure deal. Since the weather has been bad I'm having bouts of feeling like crap.

yes it's the cold. the cold causes us pain while the heat and humidity is intolerable. is there a place we can live where it's spring then fall then spring again? just skip summer and winter! LOL

I hate the heat, but it just turned freezing here (like literally down to 32 last night and the night before and tonight) and I hurt EVERYWHERE. I don't know for sure if it's the cold but probably... :P

Yup, the heat just sucks all my will to live away. Can't handle it. We finally had to install AC upstairs in the loft of my house to try to keep it livable, I basically spent July and August PARKED in front of it with fans rolling between cool showers.

Note to self: Please be patient with me, God isn't finished with me yet.

Well let's just say my husband calls me a walking barometer! He can tell if the weather is going to change or be severe just by looking at me! The pain is sometimes unbearable and other times it is just a nuisance. Alternating heat and ice sometimes will do the trick but mostly I just try to sleep through it, of course we all know sleep does not come easy to us Fibromites!

I have dysautonomia along with FM, and I am very heat intolerant (but managed to survive 17 years in Central TX- LOL). I have to wear an ice vest when I go to appointments. Other than 3-4 times out of the apartment per month, I'm in a 66-68 degree AC environment, or I get really overheated, and will pass out. emoticon FM has a lot of components that are similar to autonomic disorders (not autoimmune- which people think I'm saying). Meds and the ice vest help, but I've been disabled since 2004 because of it; I did work for 8 years after the FM and dysautonomia diagnoses, but it was brutal. Had a lot of ambulance calls to haul my butt off to the ER because I'd keeled over somewhere.

I thought I'd get 'skinny chemo'- I got the fat stuff ! But at least I'm alive to whine about it !!

Yes the sun makes my head ache i feel fatigued all the time and my head feels as though it is full of foam when i get too hot my asthma plays up and my muscles and joints ache all the time I can never find a comfortable place to be it hurts so much.
I cannot live with central heating either at least my cottage is stone built so it never gets too hot and as none of the doors or windows fit properly is air conditioned all the time HA HA
at least if you are cold you can layer up but once you are naked there is nothing else to come off emoticon

I guess…? I know that if I get overheated, I feel awful. I can’t breathe, I get clammy, and I begin to feel like I am going to go kerplunk any second. But I had never thought about it being my fibro. I thought that it was because I had gotten to heavy, and when I lost the weight, it would get better. Curious!! emoticon

Great idea about the treadmill. I live in a small condo and have no room for one. Will have to figure out an alternative.
