I am really lucky to have two adjacent town parks right next to my apt bldg. They are paved bike trails and if i want to extend my ride, i have an unpaved path on either side of the Erie Canal here in Upstste NY. I used to find hills challenging...but at 60, i welcome the flatter terain. I also just set up my Classic Fuji S12-S on my vintage Vetta windtrainer for indoor workouts when the weather interferes with my daily training. I WILL DO THIS!!

I rode 1.5 hrs. on the bike path again today. The temp. was in the 90's. I drank both my water bottles and a refill on one of them! I had a hard time (no energy) on the way back. Note to self ride when it is cooler (early morning or late evening).

I rode part of the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail, 12 miles in all. The weather was great for a long ride. However, it was quite a challenge with the chipmonks darting out in every direction.I truly believe those little critters are gymnasts, having the skill and timing down to a science as they pass through the spokes of my wheels without meeting their demise.

Ok, it wasn't really a trail. But I did ride the bike path. It is a paved walking and bicycling path that runs between our 2 small towns (Central Point and Ashland, Oregon). I rode 14 miles round trip. It took about an hour and a half. I realize that many of you go further and faster but that is good for me at this point. It threatened to rain the whole time but never really did. Pollen count is high. I enjoyed the ride. The best tip for enjoying a bike ride is make sure you have a comfortable seat!

The other day I went for a ride along Monongahela River Trail fighting a head wind 80% of the time and riding on gravel compared to pavement. I rode 21 miles in 2 and a half hours.

My first "long" ride of the season took place on Heritage Trail, beginning in Goshen, NY. I rode for enjoyment purposes instead of speed. After 91 minutes, I completed 17+ miles.
