Well, I just avoided snacking by spending time posting and readIng recipes. Also seized the day by going on a great ride through the park next door on a very crisp, cool and colorful, fall afternoon. I pushed myself a bit more today, rode an extra lap trying to build up my lung power. Love this cooler weather!!! Anyone else out there like this change of seasons? Really get inspired to push myself knowing winter is coming! Peace, Scott.

My office is just outside the cafeteria. Every morning I'm treated to the smell of Bacon, or meat candy as I've recently heard it called. Today was different because my brain actually started to tell me how good the taco would taste. I was thinking about the texture of the refried beans, what it would be like to mix in the shredded cheese and salsa, and how the crispy Bacon would provide that lovely detail of crunch, salt, and smoky goodness all in one. Yum!

Instead, I reached into my lunch bag and ate my morning snack: a Granny Smith apple with almond butter. When I finished it, I was still thinking about the breakfast taco. So I reached in and grabbed my cucumbers. Yes, they were intended for my afternoon snack but I needed to put the right something in my mouth or the wrong something would've magically appeared there.

So I am doing 2 Mommy Happy Dances. One for packing the right stuff and another one for using it!

I rode my bicycle to work twice in the past week. That's the first time since late 2009. It felt great and I'm looking forward to commuting to work on Monday and Tuesday!

Didn't eat one of the very large, soft, chewy, yummy, delicious, mouth watering M&M chocolate chip cookies sitting in the teachers lounge today. haha

Sticking with my diet.. actually need to eat MORE calories... maybe I should have had that cookie?

Doing my bicycle journeys in a friend's pool a few times these last couple of weeks. 95 to 108 degrees in the shade, has certainly made me want to take advantage of her pool.

organised my work at home better so I could go to the gym before work. It was worth it. I felt like bouncing around all day. I have work to do tonight and I feel ok. Resisted chocolate icecream and a pavlova dessert which is in the house from dinner guests 2 days ago. I give it to my skinny DH.

I'm doing well! I weighed in this morning and I had my best, one week, weight loss since joining Sparks. Afterwards, I made my wife and I whole wheat pancakes (used real fruit spread instead of syrup) and afterwards, I baked whole wheat flax n' apple muffins. Tonight it's rice and asparagus blend with baked pineapple pork. I'm really motivated to cook much healthier now that I've joined Sparks! ... And you know what? My wife dosn't matter at all!

Called into the gym on my way home from work and discovered I did not have my shorts and I wasn't going to do any cardio in my floppy jeans.Decided to go for a run in the early evening - sunset. It was gorgeous. I live by the coast and I ran in the park admiring the views and sunsets. I call this serendipity. The other good thing is that prior to SP I used to puff just walking up the hill by myself. I jogged for 35 minutes non stop.

Have had very long work hours at work and having to bring work home. Finding it hard to fit in gym visits. Missed the gym on Friday night BUT went for a 40 minute run instead after a little recovery at home from a trying week. Writing this, this morning before my regular Saturday morning bike to the gym. Feels really good when we stay committed.

weekends are good. I is the day I cycle to gym. Did it this morning. Took a detour and had a mini adventure. Weather turned bad. Very glad to get home.
Felt quite worked out. Did rowing and weights training at the gym. Cycle ride to the gym is 45 minutes there and 45 minutes back.

I got 4 miles in on the bike at the gym. I am pumped. After not exercising since 12-3-08 this feels great!

I was able to ride the bike at the gym for 30 minutes today. This is the first kind of exercise since I broke my ankle 12-3-08!! It felt great!

Did real well today. Was in the 70's and traveled 60 miles east and got in a nice long hike on the Konza Prairie. Lots of water intake and good opportunities for a few photos (check out my Sparkpage for a few). It was great to hit a trail for sure. Hope all is well with everyone!

Made my water goal....Got my fruits and veggies....Drove out of town to babysit my new grandson and was offered to be taken out to lunch. Declined the offer and took my healthy lunch with me!

Got my water goal again. I find this a pretty easy goal to set and meet. Any success with any goal is proof positive, even if it's has simple has daily water intake. It motivates to be successful in other goals. Repetition in succession helps develope the habit...(does that make sense?). Anyway, I feel great and I can't wait for better weather so my hiking and biking will kick in.

Sunny....thanks for the comment. Yes, I am thankful for my job. Been here 25 years (Feb. 16). 12 hr. days do become a drag, but it's essential this day and age. It's really hard on a spouse....I know! All I know is the long hours. Hang in there!

Greg you are doing awesome. My husband had been working 10 hour shifts for the last few months. I understand how tired you get. My husband never has enough time to do the things he enjoys. He only works. We both understand why that is important but it gets to be a drag. At least you and my husband both have jobs to go to. Just trying to see the good in it.

I got in all my water yesterday. I really need to get in more fruit and veges. That is what I am working on today. Got some fruit in with breakfast.

12 hour work days sort of get to you after a few days. Walked around the plant more instead of sitting on my bottom. Like always, got my water goal in! You know, I havn't had a beer all year and I don't really miss it that much. I saw somewhere in these sparkpages, the calorie content of lite beers. I can't get the one they listed with the least amount in this city. Oh well, no biggie. Feelin' great!

I have been drinking all of my water.

I will be biking at the gym soon. Since my accident 12-3-08 I have not been able to work out. Once I am released to start working out this will be the starting place. (My passion at the gym is the elliptical machine) I am looking forward to getting back to exercise.

great for you! Good job. It has been hot here as well. I have been on my trainor in out cool house. Today is going to be so nice and I got up early and got alot done around house. I rode my bike to work.

Due to things happening around me and making the wrong choice I haven't ridden my bike like I was doing for a while.

It's amazing -- that just a few interruptions -- I got away from riding to work.

So today I did.

I plan to take a 15-20 mile ride tomorrow.

ha ha very funny. Yesterday I went out and found some new trails. It started going down down down. That sometimes is sacry because what goes down must come up. But I went all the way to the bottom/ There was a beautiful waterfall at the bottom and some short trails. Then I decided it was time to find my way back up. It was a loop and I was hoping going back up would not be as steep as going down, I was wrong. There was alot of swichbacks and a long way to the top. Man I felt great for doing that. I am glad it was not too hot though.

Made 2 bad choices --- someone brought 2 dozen donuts to work -- I've HAD 2 of them.

Today woke up early agian. Did dishes cleaned up kitchen. did laundry and put my towel away. LOl. Watered garden and loaded my bicycle in truck. Going for hour ride at lunch. Went for one to last night.

Today I woke up early. I have been because my hubby has been staring work earlier. I got up made him lunch, washed my dishes watered my garden! I took my vitamins and filled up my water bottles. I am going to ride bicycle for 75 minutes when I get off work. I am going for a walk this morning.
