Trash out to the curb, including a BIG bag full of stuff I weeded from the back patio last week (when the weather was nicer). Go me!

I have taken a break from dishwasher repair. I did get it unscrewed from the countertop and pulled it out as far as I could, but haven't figured out how they got the thing hooked up because the line is too short, I can't pull it out far enough. I'll get it figured out though, just need to put it aside for awhile. Its too frustrating.

Today is trash day, so emptied them, and
wiped down the lids when I put in fresh
liners.

Dusted and cleaned out closet in spare bedroom.

Shelly, I hope you can get that dishwasher going soon!

Today is trash day, so I gathered up (some) of the trash, and got it out the door. I was in a bit of a hurry, so I didn't get the cans upstairs; I'll have to empty them into the main can downstairs tonight.

I'm getting close to finishing the painting I wanted to do before my Halloween party and deep cleaning is going along with it. If I get done today what I expect to, the house will get a blessing before bedtime. Since I've been keeping up with my routines and with most of the missions while the redecorating has been going on, the house looks pretty good, although a little disorderly. Once the painting is finished in the master bedroom today, I'll be able to put it back in order which will clear up the guest room, which is where I've been going with stuff coming out of the rooms I'm painting.

DH and I are both feeling really good about the progress we're making and about how nice the house is starting to look.

I did a partial house blessing yesterday. Stripped the bed, washed linens, etc. Tidied up living room, gave both bathrooms a quick going-over.

Still working on the kitchen redecorating and starting same in master bedroom. Within the next couple of days, I should have the kitchen back in shape and all of the kitchen stuff out of the guest room, where I've been storing it for save-keeping.

I love how the rotation I have selected for the redecorating projects is coordinating so nicely with the zone mission rotation. If only I could manage getting a whole room totally redecorated in 5 to 7 days while working full-time, I would be almost done by now! LOL

Soon. Very soon. It's coming along nicely.

No "real" blessing this week. Been too busy tearing down wallpaper, painting, etc. I have been doing daily swish & swipe, making the bed, tidying hot spots, quick dusting, dishes, shining sink, etc. every day, though, so the rest of the house (where I'm not making a mess) is still in pretty good shape.

I do love mine; it keeps the cat fur population down, and saves me the vacumming hassel.

How's that for an omen that I ought to buy one?

You can watch a video of it running. It works about like shown in the video. iRobot is always improving the AI of the 'bots, so newer models are 'smarter' than older ones. For example, the older ones might have issues with fringes, but the newer ones do not.

They also have a floor-washing robot, which I also use and love, love, LOVE! However: it's limited what surfaces you can use it on.

And yes, the Roomba does a good job: IF you run it regularly. I only run into trouble if I let the cat fur get out of hand. :P

Roomba is a robotics-enhanced vacuum sweeper. Basically, you turn it on and it runs around the floor. When it bumps into something, it changes direction. There are limitations, of course.

I was mainly curious to know if it actually did a good job of sweeping; if it picked up dirt, lint, etc. as well as a regular vacuum.

The Roomba works well if you keep in mind what it CAN and what it CANNOT do.

It's GREAT if you have kids or pets (or anything else that makes a mess on the floor), and you don't want to have to worry about cleaning up. It's great for maintenance. It replaces the "vacuum in the middles" of the WHBH for me.

It does a good job of picking up pet fur (I have 2 longhaired cats who shed constantly), and the tool I got with mine makes it easy to clean the fur off the brushes.

The vacuum on it is more powerful than you would think for something it's size, so it does a pretty good job picking everything up. The video on the irobot website gives a pretty accurate represenation of it.

It also goes underneath furniture, where it can fit, so that's nice, too.

What it does NOT do... it doesn't do furniture, nor stairs. You also have to... "Roombafy" your home before it runs. What I mean by that is, you still have to pick up stuff that you normally would before you vacuum, keeping in mind that the robot is going to go EVERYWHERE. For me, this consisted of making sure chairs were pushed in (or out, if I wanted the Roomba to run under the table where the chairs normally were), and small object that might cause issues (cat toys!) were picked up.

It's pretty smart about getting itself 'unstuck', too. It handles fringes okay, and the wires around my computers. The only cable it ever has trouble with is the really small, thin one for my cell phone charger (because it's more like a string than a cable, and doesn't realize it's caught on it).

The only other thing I don't like is it gets fed up with the cat fur more often than I would like, but I didn't used to have the problem before I got Peshtigo, so I think it's simply the volume of fur he generates. I had no issues with it with two normal-sized longhairs before he came into the picture.

So, what I do, is I set it to run on a schedule when I'm usually HOME, and when it starts, do a quick walk through the carpeted areas, and toss any trouble items (cat toys, mostly) onto surfaces where they are out of the way, and push in my chairs. It's still faster and easier than breaking out my upright every few days, and makes it easier to deep-clean, or let me focus on getting the fur out of corners and such (and there's less there, because most of it is getting grabbed before it 'migrates' there from the center of the room).

Honestly, my biggest problem with the thing is keeping Pesh away from it: he thinks it's a toy for him!

I didn't do WHB this week (I usually do it on Sundays) because I've been tearing things apart, one room at a time, to paint. I just finished the living room and hall and have started on the kitchen. I'm still keeping up with my daily routines so we don't have CHAOS everywhere - just in the rooms we are painting! LOL

ARIA, does the Roomba really work well? I've been thinking about getting one, but am a little bit skeptical. I would love to hear how it works for you.

Write on!

Waddling, this is awesome! I need to get back into this habit, too!

I have a different list for my WHBH, because I have a Roomba, and Swishnswipe doesn't work for me, but it's still about the same length of time. Here's my list:

- Empty the Roomba
- Vacuum the stairs (which the Roomba can't get)
- gather the trash (Tues is trash day)
- clean litterboxes OR change my sheets
- sweep or swiffer the living room
- clean mirror/sink
- quick-clean the toilet

I mopped, took out the trash, changed the sheets and swished and swiped one bathroom yesterday. I have been canning today. Didn't get the vacuuming done yet.

Having to start back slowly due to still recovering from Surgery. I vacuumed on Monday for the first time since surgery, but really was very sore afterward.
All my routines were wiped out after surgery so house descending into CHAOS. I have now been keeping my sink clean for the last week, and the Swish & Swipe, still trying to get some control elsewhere, but it will have to be gradual.

Thanks to this team

Hi everyone. I'm trying to get back on the wagon because I am soooo much happier when I am doing the Weekly Home Blessing on a regular basis. When I'm in the groove, it is as though the house just takes care of itself - and I'm ready to visit that place again :)

If you're not familar with the weekly home blessing -it consists of 7 different chores -- all done within a one hour timeframe. Right now, I'm breaking mine up into different days -- but I set the timer for 7 minutes for each activity AND THEN I QUIT! Amazing results in such a short time. Here's a quick sketch of the routine (as I remember it)

1. Dust
2. Vacuum/Sweep the MIDDLE of the floors only
3. Mop
4. Purge floor/surfaces (a great precursor to dusting and vacuuming)
5. Shine (windows, door knobs, light switches, fridge)
6. Trash
7. Change Sheets
